- 0:00Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Kenny Wallace Show,
- 0:03brought to you by Jags, the leader in high performance
- 0:07aftermarket car parts. Remember to go to jags.com for
- 0:12everything and anything. And Jags are telling me that
- 0:15they got everything for Jeeps and pickup trucks.
- 0:18Well, you caught me in a unique position.
- 0:21We just got done watching the race.
- 0:23I've been washing my dirt car, washing all the tires.
- 0:28Dirt cars get dirty, so we have to be able to clean them so we
- 0:32can work on them. All right, let's break this
- 0:34Talladega race down. Talladega.
- 0:39It was one of the best ones I've seen in a long time.
- 0:41And I'll tell you why. Because when they made it to the
- 0:44white flag, I looked at my wife. Brody's working the camera right
- 0:48now, my son-in-law, and I looked at him.
- 0:50I said what a race. I said lap 4.
- 0:53Me and Brody were joking. I said lap 4, NASCAR's going to
- 0:57hit the wreck button. OK, everybody wrecked.
- 1:00Nobody wrecked. But listen, they made it past
- 1:04the white flag and and they were all connected.
- 1:07So when you when you run Talladega, the key is to stay
- 1:10hooked up like this. When this starts, that's when
- 1:13all hell breaks loose. So the reason it was such a good
- 1:17race is they stayed connected. And then you saw the great Brad
- 1:22Keselowski. Now, the reason I called him
- 1:24great, some of you will say you're too nice, Kenny, you call
- 1:28everybody great. Listen, the great Brad Kazlaki,
- 1:32he's won there. He's won at Talladega.
- 1:34He knew what he was doing. So right in the middle of turn
- 1:37three and four, Brad did what they they say you dragged the
- 1:42brake a little bit and then that outside lane gained energy.
- 1:45But when Brad drugged the brake, that allowed Michael McDowell to
- 1:49get ahead. And then here comes Brad back.
- 1:51Now you're wide open. You just barely dragged the
- 1:55brake. Listen, I'll make the sound.
- 1:59And that little, that little just barely dragged the brake.
- 2:03That slows the energy down. Now.
- 2:05Now here he come, here you come, here you come, and he's going to
- 2:08make the move on Michael McDowell.
- 2:11My wife looked at me and she said, what did Michael McDowell
- 2:14do wrong? I said, honey, he didn't do
- 2:16anything wrong. What could he have done?
- 2:20The only thing he did wrong was he tried to win.
- 2:23So he goes outside to block the lane.
- 2:25Then he knows. Then when he makes the left hand
- 2:27move, you know, he just skims Brad Keselowski's bumper.
- 2:33They're coming to the checkered flag.
- 2:35It was violent as all get out. I saw Corey Lejoy.
- 2:40That was Corey Lejoy. That was the seven up on the
- 2:43wall sideways. It was #7 believe that was Corey
- 2:46Lejoy all the way along. Happy that that was up against
- 2:50the wall with the bottom of the car, not the driver's side.
- 2:54I believe Corey's just fine. But I got to tell you this.
- 2:58Also, respond right here. I believe this is a breakout
- 3:01moment for NASCAR and here's why.
- 3:06Name me besides Muhammad Ali. Fly like a butterfly, sting like
- 3:11a bee. I'm Muhammad Ali besides
- 3:14Muhammad Ali, name right here. Drop rider who's the most famous
- 3:19professional athlete in the world.
- 3:22It's Michael Jordan. It is.
- 3:24Google it, they'll tell you. I don't know if they're going to
- 3:27tell you or not, but I think it is Michael Jordan.
- 3:30The car that wins is Tyler Reddick.
- 3:33The car that wins is Tyler Reddick #45 buddy and babies,
- 3:38everybody out there. So it's it's just all Air
- 3:41Jordan. It's a Jordan car.
- 3:43It says Jordan, it's got his logo.
- 3:46And when they said Michael Jordan was there, I looked at
- 3:49Brody, who's working the camera. Brody, did I tell you that TV's
- 3:53got to go to Victor Lane do the camera, didn't I?
- 3:56Yes, yes. I said, you know, usually
- 3:58they'll end Victor Lane on the track.
- 4:01I said they got to go to Victor Lane because this is Fox Sports
- 4:04chance and NASCAR to get Michael Jordan.
- 4:09Sure enough, sure enough. I should have been the producer,
- 4:12but my buddy Jake Jolly and, and those, those people in the Fox
- 4:16TV booth, they did it right. They got the Victory Lane.
- 4:18They got the great Michael Jordan.
- 4:20Now everybody's going. Who was the little kid Michael
- 4:24Jordan was holding? Well, that was Tyler Reddick's
- 4:26son. So listen, say what you want
- 4:31about anything, but Herman's been using this song.
- 4:34Let's get to the good part. And we did.
- 4:36We just skipped everything. We just got to the good part.
- 4:39It was a great race. It was a big win.
- 4:42You know, usually about this time, you know, with three to
- 4:45go, they'll wreck. They'll wreck and everybody go,
- 4:47oh, this is a shit show. I hate NASCAR.
- 4:51They can't keep going. They wreck all the time.
- 4:54So they made it. They made it.
- 4:57They made it to the they made it to the checkered flag.
- 5:01Listen, I will have to say I'm going to end like this.
- 5:06Everybody made fun. Everybody made fun of the I'm a
- 5:11little cold by the way. That's why my mouth is not
- 5:13moving perfectly. Little chilly out, but I like to
- 5:15get things done here on Sunday, the Toyotas, they wrecked each
- 5:21other using their strategies. So we saw that embarrassing
- 5:24moment in NASCAR history. And yes, I say history it.
- 5:27It's like team mates wrecking each other.
- 5:29Don't, don't wreck your teammate.
- 5:31All the Toyotas lined up and like Harvick said on the
- 5:35broadcast, they go across that little bump there where the
- 5:38where the trucks. So that bump on the back
- 5:40straight away. That's where that's where the
- 5:43motor homes. I mean, everybody comes across
- 5:45there right as you enter turn 3. That's where everybody comes
- 5:49across and they're bopping into weaving.
- 5:51The cars are running, you know, 200 mile an hour.
- 5:53They go like this. That upset all the toy, all the
- 5:57Toyota is in a line and they all wreck and everybody is like
- 6:02Toyota wreck. Toyota won the race.
- 6:08Be careful. I always run my mouth just like
- 6:12you all do. But if you get it, it would have
- 6:15been better. We could have run our mouth a
- 6:17little bit more. Yes, it was embarrassing for
- 6:19Toyota, but Toyota went to Victor Lane and yes, Toyota
- 6:23sponsored me for seven years. But but I'm not a Toyota
- 6:26spokesperson anymore. But they did get the last laugh.
- 6:30But yes, that was an embarrassing moment.
- 6:32I'm acknowledging that. So, yeah, what a bummer.
- 6:35All right, listen, everybody, I think that's it.
- 6:39I think our star of the race is, is Kyle Larson.
- 6:42How about Kyle? That's funny.
- 6:44He's all get out. He takes in.
- 6:46He takes in, you know, he don't do nothing wrong.
- 6:49But the car don't make it through tech, right?
- 6:52Kyle Larson's car doesn't make it through tech.
- 6:54So they make him start like a lap down.
- 6:56Then he doesn't have any of his crew member because the wheels
- 6:59fell off at the last race. NASCAR's got this rule where if
- 7:02your wheels fall off, I mean, it's a big penalty.
- 7:06So he started the race with none of his tire changers down the
- 7:09lap and in one of the stages he was coming back and obviously
- 7:12there was Rex galore until we got to the end.
- 7:15So I think those are my highlights.
- 7:19Terminator don't break down. I'm not Larry Mac Reynolds, OK?
- 7:22I don't break down everything. Those are my highlights.
- 7:24And all right, I guess that's it.
- 7:26We run 5th last night at Peebly. We're in 6th the night before.
- 7:31We're going to run Brownstown, IL this Friday and we're going
- 7:33to run Peevely on Saturday. And yes, I do everything myself
- 7:38because you can't find nobody to help you anymore.
- 7:42Respond right here. Can you find anybody to work
- 7:45anymore? Somebody said Herman where's
- 7:47your help? I said I don't want nobody to
- 7:49help me because you can't find anybody to do anything anymore.
- 7:52They too busy making YouTube shows.
- 7:55All right, everybody remember we are in podcast form.
- 7:59We're on iTunes and Spotify. Hell, you can listen this on the
- 8:02way to work and it'll be over. All right.
- 8:05We got some good ones in the pipeline, Michael and ready.
- 8:09And I've also got to call in to Rodger Pensky.
- 8:11And Rodger answered me. He says let me get a time.
- 8:14Indy 500 is coming up. It's the month of May in a
- 8:17little bit, the month of May. So Michael Andretti with 42
- 8:21IndyCar wins, and his dad's Mario Andretti.
- 8:24And I thought that'd be a good one.
- 8:26And he's up. Michael Andretti, he's won four
- 8:29Indy 5 hundreds as a car owner. We're going to talk to him about
- 8:32that. But all right, till the next
- 8:34show.
