- 2:07[SPEAKER_07]: So this dive into this here, end of it to 24 days, the Browns finally got a new head coach.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_07]: And they want the guy that is the very first person they interviewed.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_07]: And I just kind of want to go around here and just get some quick thoughts before we maybe start getting to the chat or whatever.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_07]: I'll just go to Justin, because you're the upper right here.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_07]: Justin, what was your immediate thoughts when you saw the Browns hired monkey?
- 2:33[SPEAKER_05]: Honestly, frustration.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_05]: Just if we're going to be if we're going to be 100% honest, first thought, I just went, man, I can't believe that I just endured this 24 day chaotic search.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_05]: It felt so dysfunctional.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_05]: It didn't feel good at all.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_05]: Every time I felt like there's a little bit of optimism.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_05]: It kind of got flipped on us.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_05]: At in the moment, I was just like, man, I can't believe this is how we're coming away from it.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, obviously the offensive part is good, but to say that underwhelmed was very fair.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_07]: I'll give you all my thoughts and it first, too, but I'll look across the room, speak, Kenny, what about you?
- 3:15[SPEAKER_09]: Dude, I was like, stay away, stay away.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_09]: That's what I was saying right from the get-go.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_09]: And then I'll be honest with you, in the discord, we get together and sometimes we have a discord hangout.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_09]: And I was just like, money, bread, money maker.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_09]: So it's Aaron Watts.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_09]: And we were talking, they were like, they wanted my boomer impression of who was going to be.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_09]: And I just said, you know what?
- 3:38[SPEAKER_09]: I think it's, I don't think it's going to be shorts.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_09]: I think it's going to be Todd Munkton.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_09]: And then you know what they said, go after yourself.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, right, whatever.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_09]: And then it came to fruition.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_09]: I'll be honest with you.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_09]: I wasn't mad.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_09]: I wasn't mad.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_09]: I was definitely disappointed.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_09]: But I think when I looked up and we'll probably get into it.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_09]: I looked up how he did offensively.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_09]: And then based on what Jimmy said where he was looking for.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_09]: intelligence, decision making acumen, leadership, and high EQ, I looked at what this guy did in some of his press conferences.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_09]: It's hilarious.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_09]: I think he was almost like Jarvis Landry for me, like I'm most worn the run through wall.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_09]: So right now, I'm cautiously optimistic.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's good.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: What about you, Josh?
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, I would.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: When a first came out mad, like the guy that I discarded throughout the whole process of like, yeah, he's on the list, but I'm not even looking at his name because I, and I don't know if that's just like a selfish thing me personally, obviously I had my candidates that I had my eye on and I was heavily invested into those guys and wanting them to be the next I coach of the Browns that I didn't really consider.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: Todd Munkin actually potentially getting this job for real.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: So when it happened, obviously that was disappointed, but you know, we'll talk about it here, Blake.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: I definitely want to hear your thoughts on how this week has gone, but I feel like I'm coming around to it.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm definitely open to giving him the opportunity.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: I said this on the show the other day.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: So as you're a brown, I will root for you.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_02]: I will root for you to succeed until you give me a reason not to.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then at that point, I'm done.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm off your train.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: But right now, let's roll.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: Todd Munkin, we'll see how it goes.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_07]: No, I, when it first happened, so I feel like if you watch this show, you probably know how I felt about like all of this heading into a coaching search.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_07]: Well, first of all, when they first announced Todd Munkin, I felt very vindicated because I said, I tried to tell everybody that you were getting at the leftover scraps of everybody else if you fired Kevin and I was like, look how right I was.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_07]: We got the guy who was 15th on our list and who wasn't even on anybody else's list.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_07]: there's few things I like being more than right.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_07]: So I was happy about that.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_07]: But then you start to like see some of the things like we kind of just went over briefly.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_07]: The guy's put good offences on the field pretty much anywhere he's ever been.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_07]: Even the one year he was in Cleveland, we had a 3,500 yard pass or a 1,500 yard rusher and 2,1000 yard receivers.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_07]: And that was with
- 6:17[SPEAKER_07]: you know, you know what I mean?
- 6:19[SPEAKER_07]: So the guys put good offenses on the field.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_07]: I think my biggest issue at first was it just felt like the process, like how did we, everybody was so enamored with guys like Grady Ditsky in Nate's showhouse to be our head coach.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_07]: And I think they were just extremely let down when we landed on like the what is he 59 years old or 60 years old, something like that guy that nobody really had on the radar.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_07]: And everybody just assumed that if we fired
- 6:47[SPEAKER_07]: We're going to go get the next Sean McVay.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_07]: We're going to go higher this next 30 year old.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_07]: Well first of all, I don't think you should base your plan on trying to find the next McVay.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_07]: He's an outlier.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_07]: You know, that's like saying we're only going to draft players trying to find, we're only getting the next LeBron.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_07]: If you're not the next LeBron, we're getting ready.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_07]: Well, the next LeBron comes around once every 30, 40 years.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_07]: There might not be another Sean McVay ever.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_07]: Like how many?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_07]: How many 30-year-olds are ready to be a head coach?
- 7:14[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_07]: Like, it takes a special breed of individual.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_07]: I kind of got okay with grant identity because at least he was an offensive coordinator.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_07]: At least in my opinion, an issue house was never a realistic option to be the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_07]: You just do not go from offensive or passing game coordinator to head coach.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_07]: To me, that had
- 7:35[SPEAKER_07]: Freddy Kitchens written all over it.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_07]: And I think the Browns kind of like the Browns waited and they went and interviewed him out in LA and they did this crazy long interview and then they didn't offer him the job.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_07]: I think that tells you a lot about like, he wasn't ready.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 7:50[SPEAKER_07]: And we aren't the only people to interview him and not give him a job.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_07]: So I just think, but I think so many people thought it was gonna be a grant and they just had their eyes set on this like new shiny toy that was gonna be the head coach, the Browns, so when it ended up being Todd Munkin, everybody was just super deflated.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_07]: I think if you realistic about the Brown search though, did we maybe get the best offensive head coach that would actually come to Cleveland?
- 8:14[SPEAKER_07]: Maybe because like we weren't getting shot with John Hardball and he's not an offensive coaching.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_07]: But we're not getting John Hardball.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_07]: Sean McGerman's probably taken a year off.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_07]: Mike McDane would rather go be an offensive coordinator than, you know, come be the head coach of the Browns.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_07]: Like those are three names out of minutes, a top of my list probably.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_07]: You weren't getting any of them.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_07]: So then is Todd Munkin potentially the most experienced offensive minded guy that you were going to be able to get here.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_07]: maybe maybe we got the best guy that was that was available to us now that can say a lot about where you are at as an organization and how people view this job.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_07]: But at the end of the day you got the best the best available guy to you because I don't think we're picking it from all these coaches that were available there was five of them were not available to us.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_09]: Like, you gotta think how much of it was just, you gotta think of how much of it too was just like ignorance, you know?
- 9:13[SPEAKER_09]: You just passed it off as number one, he was gonna go to the giants and be their offensive coordinator.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_09]: You know?
- 9:19[SPEAKER_09]: Number two, there's just a thing about fans where we go, why is it Raven?
- 9:23[SPEAKER_09]: We don't want no Ravens around here.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_09]: Well, guess what?
- 9:25[SPEAKER_09]: We got a whole bunch of them coming right now because they all want to work with Todd Monkin.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_09]: And a lot of the ex of position coaches, right?
- 9:34[SPEAKER_09]: And I find with him, if you dial everything back and I've said this numerous times on the podcast, you actually listened to what Jimmy said.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_09]: What I mentioned earlier between the emotional intelligence, the leader traits, I can tell you.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_09]: I was a hundred percent ignorant on it, man.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_09]: I did not realize like with some of his speeches and some of the things that I've seen online on YouTube, how passionate he was, that you can tell the leadership in the way he speaks.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_09]: You can see the way the players respond to him.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_09]: You know that you can't make that stuff up the cameras just picking it up right and again like the coaches only going to be as good as the talent is around him and right now You can say he's going to have a real tough time right so the next You know 96 days of this reset or wherever we are in it is going to be telling how this guy's going to be successful
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: This episode is sponsored by Surfshark VPN.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: Frowns fans, I know I can't be the only one.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever searched something random like, I don't know how to make French toast and suddenly you're getting ads for all kinds of different recipes?
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, me too.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's a bit scary how much the internet seems to know about me these days.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: Thankfully, today's sponsor Surfshark VPN can help us out with that.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: A VPN is a virtual private network which allows me to mask my real IP address.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's like putting a guardian cap on my online data, essentially meaning that my activity online is safe
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: If you ever wonder just how much of your personal identity is floating around online, every click, every scroll, every late night, mock draft that you do, all of it can be logged, tracked, and sold.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: With Surfshark, all that data stays yours.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: When I've connected Surfshark and Crips, everything I do online, so even my internet provider or Nozi advertisers can't see what I'm up to.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's like finally being able to shut the blinds on your digital life total privacy, total control, and honestly, it's a relief knowing I can browse freely without constantly worrying who's watching.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_02]: And this is a big one for me, Surfshark does not keep logs, like at all that means even if someone wanted to see what I've been up to online, there's literally nothing to show them.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_02]: Most people don't realize this, but some VPNs do keep records of your activity, which kind of defeats the point of privacy, right?
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: Surfshark's strict no-logs policy means they don't monitor track or store any of your browsing data.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_02]: It's like wiping your digital footprints clean the second you take a step.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: I find that so reassuring knowing that what I do online stays my business and no one else is.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: And Surfshark has other great products like their anti-virus add-on.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: We tend to think viruses are a laptop problem, but they can hit phones, tablets, anything, really.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's why Surfshark anti-virus is such a smart add-on.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's built right into the app and runs quietly in the background protecting against malware, trod jins, and all that nasty stuff that can sneak in from downloads or dodgy sites.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: I love that I don't need a separate anti-virus subscription Surfshark just handles it.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's one less thing to worry about, and one more reason I feel properly covered online.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: So start protecting your online identity today with Surfshark.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: You can try it right now with a risk-free 30-day money-back guarantee go to surfshark.com-slashdogs DAWGS or use code dogs at checkout to get four extra months of Surfshark VPN.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: Link and code are in the description.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: Surfshark.com-slashdogs code dogs.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_07]: I do think Browns fans are going to love him as a head coach in terms of polar opposites.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_07]: like a press conference is not going to be the rinse and repeat coach talk like we were getting Kevin and I know like that never bothered me.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_07]: I don't really care what my coach says at the press conference.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_07]: I'd rather not be Friday kitchens where in like a Pittsburgh started it to you shirt, but but like in terms of what those are saying.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_07]: That kind of thing never bothered me with Kevin.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_07]: Like, I like a tight-lipped, nothing's getting out kind of coached.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_07]: That didn't bother me, but I do think a lot of Brownsmeans are going to like, like Todd Munkins probably going to be fiery at the mic.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_07]: He's going to, you know, he might call some people out, he might show a little bit of emotion.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_07]: So I think Brownsmeans are actually going to really like him, especially if we show improvement in Winston football games.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_07]: I actually, another thing that made me feel good about it, well, a couple of things, but I saw a guy
- 13:40[SPEAKER_07]: the other day and he's a big-time Ravens fan.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_07]: He has season tickets for the Ravens even though he lives in Tuscaro's County.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_07]: That's how big of a ring he drives down there for every single home game.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_07]: And he told me that Tom Monk was the best offense of Courtney Lamar had ever had when he was involved more.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_07]: said it's the best offense he ever played in and that he was hoping that Jesse meant to bring him back to be his offensive coordinator.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_07]: So in he he was like I think the Browns like I think that's a good higher for the Browns and that's that's coming from a Ravens fan who doesn't like the Browns obviously.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_07]: And then another thing that I immediately started to make me feel better about the higher was, we're hiring a whole lot of Ravens coaches, and they might not be household names.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_07]: Like, I'll say, I'm like surface level happy about it, because I don't know these guys that, well, I didn't, I didn't know the coaching staff of, you know, the Ravens outside of John Harball and Todd Munkin, but,
- 14:39[SPEAKER_07]: That's a successful organization.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_07]: That's an organization that has a lot of winning seasons.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_07]: One of Super Bowl played in multiple Super Bulls in the last 30 years.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_07]: Like that, that's a coaching staff that had that's been with a Hall of Fame coach.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_07]: Everybody wanted Nate Sheelhouse because he was under McVay and he's from the McVay tree.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_07]: Well, we got a guy who was underneath a first ballot Hall of Famer.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 15:04[SPEAKER_07]: So, like if they shoot all says learning from Sean McVay, I'm sure Todd Munkin is learning how to be a head football coach from a guy who's gonna be in the Hall of Fame as soon as he's eligible as a head coach.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_07]: So,
- 15:17[SPEAKER_07]: The more we add Raven's coaching coaches to this staff, the more I learn about the offenses he's put together, the demeanor.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_07]: I do think he kind of reminds me a little bit of, like a gym shorts on the offensive side of the ball.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I mean, a little bit more fiery, maybe a little bit more in your face.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_07]: So I kind of like it.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_07]: There are some, there's a couple of reports that came out that are slight red flags, but like Josh said, until he, until he,
- 15:43[SPEAKER_07]: gives me a reason to hold those against him.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_07]: Then I'm not going to hold him against him.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_02]: What do you mean, which we're talking about?
- 15:48[SPEAKER_07]: I like what the first one that came to mind comes to mind is clearly the relationship between him and Lamar deteriorated.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_07]: And if you can't get along with your MVP quarterback at to me, you know, that kind of sucks.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_07]: John Harble is a Hall of Fame head coach and keeping Todd Munkin basically got John Harble fired.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_07]: And I mean, so like that to me that that's a slight red flag like an organization was willing to part ways with a guy who'd been there for two decades and he's going to go to the Hall of Fame as a head coach and keeping Todd Munkin was a sticking point so they fired him.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_07]: That's a red flag.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_07]: Again, I'm not going to hold it against him.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_07]: Sometimes you just need to change a scenery, you need to
- 16:31[SPEAKER_07]: he needs to go somewhere else kind of have a reset.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_07]: I also don't think Lamar is the easiest guy to get along with sometimes.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_07]: So I think there's two sides of the circle and I'm sure.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_07]: Yes.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not saying like Lamar is
- 16:47[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not saying he's like a problem, but I do think there's a personality there that, you know, especially sometimes if you're a little bit in an old school coach, maybe it doesn't mesh that well.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_07]: Another red flag is I do think the league is going younger, more innovative.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_07]: And again, I didn't want some passing team coordinator to be our head coach, but we have a really young locker room now.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_07]: We went from an old locker room to a young locker room in the last year, and it's
- 17:11[SPEAKER_07]: Presumably gonna get younger.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_07]: How is he going to relate to the young players in the locker room?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_07]: I do think having multiple years of college coaching experience can help with that.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_07]: You know, coaching a Georgia being an offensive coordinator there.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_07]: He's dealt with young kids.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm just, those are just a couple of the little things that I'm kind of keeping an eye out for to see how he meshes in the locker room personality wise.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm going to judge us, go ahead, brother.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: Why is it to say a couple other things for me that were red flags early on, which I've gotten more okay with them as the week has gone on was just he's 60 years old.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think it turns 60 this week and it's the first time in his entire coaching career that he's ever been given an opportunity to be a head coach at the NFL level.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_02]: He's only had one head coaching stint.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: for three years in college and it was a southern mess.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_02]: So for me, I was like, man, this guy's been around the league for a long time and he's just now getting that shot.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: Outside of Bruce Arianth, he is the oldest, for a head coach to ever get his first head coaching gig in NFL history.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: So it's a little bit of an outlier in that regard, too.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: But then kind of look Blake said, he's got a lot of experience being an offensive coordinator for several different teams under good head coaches that, you know, I think he, he's got experience that should
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: as a head coach for the first time.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm a little more at ease about the age thing and him never being a coach until now and being the only one that, you know, this was the only interview he got, this cycle was the Browns.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: But.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_07]: Just another thing too is we all said throw blank check at John Harball.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, like throw blank check at him.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_07]: We want John guess who would have been his offensive coordinator.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_07]: If we hired John Harball, it would have been Todd Lunkin and John Harball came out and said he tried to talk him out of taking this job.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_07]: So he can have him as an old because he wanted him.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_07]: So if we all think John Harball is that good of a head coach and we respect him that much in his opinion, especially if the coaches that are working for his staff,
- 19:05[SPEAKER_07]: That should tell us something about the guy that we are to be the head coach.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_07]: I also think it's telling that a lot of coaches from that staff are coming to Cleveland instead of going to New York.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 19:16[SPEAKER_07]: So like it's clear that he had a good relationship with these guys and
- 19:21[SPEAKER_07]: that they want it.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_07]: They think he's going to be a good guy to work for and they see potential in him to be a head coach.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_07]: So it's kind of funny because the very first day this happened, I said, I'm not going to talk myself into being okay with a higher.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not going to be like, I wasn't John Ken Dorsey and talk myself into being okay with it.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_07]: But I don't know, maybe it's just the brown
- 19:47[SPEAKER_07]: the staff things a big thing for me that the staff he's putting together bringing in Raven's coaches like to me that that's a big thing that that's a team that knows how to win.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_07]: They've been around a lot of winning.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_09]: Bro, the other thing too is that like that guy, he isn't pigeonholed in one kind of offense.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_09]: Look at, he's had James Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and then he went to Baker, then he went to Stenson Bennett, and one two national championships with that kid, you know, and then he went to Little Large Axon.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_09]: So while you want to say, well, you know, a lot of people want to say this.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_09]: Well, they've, they got Lamar, you know, they're, they're running backs for awesome.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_09]: They're receivers for awesome.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_09]: Well, yeah, but he didn't suck.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_09]: He made him good and he made him better, right?
- 20:39[SPEAKER_09]: And we got to get there.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_09]: But I mean, I just love it.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_09]: And I, you know, I just love that he coached offences.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_09]: I think that's great.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_07]: So with the kind of circle back a little bit rewind to where we've kind of come to come around to the point that
- 20:59[SPEAKER_07]: I think we're feeling better.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_07]: Maybe even, are we feeling good?
- 21:03[SPEAKER_07]: I'm optimistic, bro.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_05]: I'll say it.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_07]: I'm optimistic.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_07]: I'm optimistic.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_09]: I just got to say the talent that they get for this guy.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_07]: That's what I got.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_07]: Like you said, Kenny, in which was a huge sticking point for me with our last coach was, you're only as good as the talent you have.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_07]: Find me the head coach that looks really good with terrible talent.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_07]: I bet you you can't really name me that many.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_07]: So, but,
- 21:28[SPEAKER_07]: If we rewind a little bit, one thing that kind of made this look like a circus, it maybe kind of had us all laughing was the fact that at least a lot of reports were that the Browns front office and ownership was telling these potential candidates we'd really like you to keep Jim Schwartz as your defensive coordinator.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_07]: We don't know how much it was
- 21:50[SPEAKER_07]: in option or it was a gym shorts is going to be your offensive coordinator because then people started dropping out.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_07]: There were reports that some of these potential candidates didn't like that.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_07]: They wanted to build their own staff.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_07]: I'm of the side where if ownership wants to say, hey, we'd really appreciate you taking a look at gym shorts and maybe bring in him back because the guys really like playing with them.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_07]: I'm fine with them saying that.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_07]: But also,
- 22:15[SPEAKER_07]: needs to be clear like it's an option.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_07]: You will not be punished in any way if you don't hire Jim Schwartz and you build you guys want to build their own staff especially a first time head coach.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_07]: He wants to put people around him that he knows that he's comfortable with that he thinks he can lead and tell what to do and manage because this is their first opportunity to be a head coach.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_07]: You can't force the marriage.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_07]: So but there are all these reports that Jim Schwartz is kind of being maybe slightly pushed onto whoever we hired to be the head coach.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_07]: All sorts of reports that Jim Schwartz was very much in the running to be the head coach.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_07]: And then it turned out we didn't give Jim Schwartz the job.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_07]: We hired Todd Munkin.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_07]: And we all kind of thought is because he's the only one who said he'd work with Jim Schwartz.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_07]: And then Jim Schwartz got so mad that he didn't get the head coaching position that he he leaves.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_07]: It says he's not coming back.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_07]: And we're just going talk about a Cleveland Browns thing.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_07]: Now also another thing once the smoke settles and the dust settles
- 23:13[SPEAKER_07]: How much do we care?
- 23:14[SPEAKER_07]: Do you think Jim Schwarz would back?
- 23:16[SPEAKER_07]: We saw before we jumped on here tonight that the Browns have kind of, I think, put together a package offering them a raise, more responsibility in terms of hiring defensive staff, that kind of thing.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_07]: How do you feel about how the Browns treated that search with Jim Schwarz?
- 23:33[SPEAKER_07]: How do you feel about him being upset that he didn't get the position?
- 23:37[SPEAKER_07]: And then how do you feel if he doesn't come back and we end up finding a different defensive coordinator?
- 23:44[SPEAKER_05]: go ahead Justin.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_05]: I all I'll say about it is when that news broke that he stormed out of Maria, I kind of just shook my head and I was like, wasn't that part of the plan?
- 23:56[SPEAKER_05]: Like, everything that we read was that, you know,
- 24:00[SPEAKER_05]: obviously he's in it in the mix for head coach, you know, he's interviewing and stuff like that.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_05]: But we were almost made to feel like he was okay if they passed him over as long as he was able to restrain his defensive responsibilities as a coordinator.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe I'm wrong.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe I read that wrong from everybody that reported that.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_05]: But it's just very,
- 24:22[SPEAKER_05]: Like you said, like very cleave them browns kind of dysfunctional and like when all that's happening I think it just adds to just kind of how we feel as a fan base, you know what I mean?
- 24:32[SPEAKER_05]: We're so used to just being up pissed on and shit on that we're just like, well, this is just normal for us, you know, like this is just how we get stuff done and then we'll do this again in two or three years if it like takes that long.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_05]: But if we're talking about gym shorts and if he stays
- 24:50[SPEAKER_05]: obviously some browns fans they have it where they are dead set that you know he's done a ton for this team and obviously he has you know he's he's led a great defense you know obviously you're not going to be perfect all the time but I to me sacrificing you're almost perfectly built defense
- 25:10[SPEAKER_05]: to not improve your dog crap offense that has not improved technique wise has not improved skill wise.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_05]: We always talk about development right as Andrew Barry drafting right guys, but why is it not development right?
- 25:21[SPEAKER_05]: The techniques bad blah blah blah all these coaches that are coming over.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_05]: It's always technique dedication.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_05]: Are you doing the right things every time blah blah?
- 25:32[SPEAKER_05]: that's accountability.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_05]: That's all we've yelled for for years.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like just that when it's bad, we just want some accountability.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_05]: We want it to look different the next week and we kind of always feel the same way about it.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not saying that bringing in this staff is going to completely flip this roster and six months.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_05]: I'm not, but damn, you got to feel better about the future as a Browns fan.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, we were heading into dark days where we were like, we might not win
- 26:02[SPEAKER_05]: But we're not going anywhere so I think this is the best outcome right now is a fan base for us
- 26:09[SPEAKER_09]: Dude, I think if you put the definition of dysfunction down, it's where emotion replaces structure, reaction replaces leadership.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_09]: This is exactly opposite of what Jimmy wanted with decision-making acumen, leadership, emotional and intelligence professionalism.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_09]: Those four things I just mentioned, Jim Swartz took a gas can dump it all over and threw a triple lighter on it and blew it up.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_09]: And he didn't give a shit.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_09]: If you, I don't want any part of this dysfunction either, you are a big part of it.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_09]: Kick Rock somewhere else and get the hell out.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_09]: That's what I think.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_09]: See you later.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_09]: This defense is good enough.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_09]: Get, um, I don't know what guy comes to mind right now, uh, Anthony Weaver.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_09]: He was here before with a defensive line.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_09]: He's a predominant, uh, defense corner.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_09]: Get him.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_09]: Get to Rome Henderson.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_09]: Get anybody.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_09]: But I can't have, guys,
- 27:04[SPEAKER_09]: doing exactly the opposite of what Jimmy just said he didn't want anymore, right?
- 27:09[SPEAKER_09]: You can you can think of what you want about Jimmy has them previous to what him saying that if this is a restart and then you restart and you bring him back, well then you're in the same shit.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_05]: Just to touch on what Kenny's talking about, too.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_05]: At times over the past few seasons, it felt like we've had three different teams.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_05]: You've got the offense, the defense, and the special teams all talking crap about each other, what they're doing, or, you know, hey, you know, man, wish we would, you know, got, you know, tired at the end, but we're on the field the whole game, offense, hopefully they do better next week.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_05]: I'm just excited for just,
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: just a little bit of accountability that I don't but well I just I was going to say like I you guys know on the show for months into the season I was saying fire everybody which included gym shorts I had no problem with them if they cut bait with everybody on the staff at that point so obviously if he walks and we don't have him anymore
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: It kind of sucks because what he's done here has been great but at the same time we've won eight games in the last two years and he's been here.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not like he's that much of a difference maker.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: I know the defense is good.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: Don't hear it.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying people like I get it.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: But like Mama Tendo in the chat here says on the other hand like could somebody else come in here and get maybe more out of the defense on the road because they suck on the road or they suck when they play the Titans or they suck when they play the Jets and you can't stop Bristol on a 40-yard
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to miss if he walks.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_07]: Listen, I've been, I'm early on this stuff sometimes.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_07]: I've been saying almost the entire season that our defense is kind of front runners.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_07]: With the same stuff that hurt us, this year is the same stuff that hurt us in year one with Jim Schwartz.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_07]: We play this wide nine and if we don't have a lead that we just get gashed in the run game up the middle,
- 29:02[SPEAKER_07]: If we play on the road, and we don't have a crowd behind us, we're not good, we're not good at sudden change, as soon as the offense looks like they're going to be anemic to defense, just males it in, and not every game, but the problem is, I watch some actual dominant defenses, especially in this postseason, like the Broncos, the Patriots, the C-Hawks, a team that didn't make the playoffs, the Vikings defense, like teams, I want, you know what I mean?
- 29:28[SPEAKER_07]: And then I watch the Browns give up 30 of the Titans.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_07]: You know, I watched the Browns give me an 80-yard touchdown drive to the Vikings.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_07]: Do we really the Browns won five games?
- 29:38[SPEAKER_07]: And if the defense that everybody loved just stops Carson Wentz, an 80-yard minute, 50 drive in London, that's a six win.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_07]: And if they don't give up 31 points to the Titans, that's a seventh win.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_07]: And this is the deep.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_07]: I've been saying all season that the defense gets a pass because of how bad the offense is, but the defense is not elite.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_07]: And so I'm not going to be mad if he goes, and it I won't be mad if he stays.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_07]: But I think I think there's guys in their schemes that we could play with this talent that would be better.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_07]: Of course this defense should be good.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 30:13[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_07]: Do we think Jim Schwartz is so, like, if the town level on our defense was the same as what it was on our offense, do we think would we all be talking about it?
- 30:22[SPEAKER_07]: We can't afford to lose Jim Schwartz?
- 30:24[SPEAKER_07]: No.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_07]: The defense would suck.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_07]: Of course the defense is good.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_07]: It has the best player in the national football league on it.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, it has a top five corner.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_07]: As the defense of Ricky Veeer at Linebacker, it has a top five pick on the D-line.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_07]: Like, of course, the defense is good.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_07]: All the money, I guess, not technically the offense is extremely high paid because of one player.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_07]: But a majority of the money is on that side of the ball.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_07]: All of the high-end draft picks are on that side of the ball.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_07]: Do we think he would have been good if the town was no?
- 31:00[SPEAKER_07]: So, but in the same breath, I could understand why Jim Schwarz would be mad in one leave.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_07]: If I'm in my job,
- 31:10[SPEAKER_07]: And I get passed over for per motion and then the guy who they picked over me I would maybe have to kind of train because he's never been ahead coach before and this guy's going to come to me for advice and ask me things I'm not doing that no you got picked you go do the job, you know, I mean you're you're the guy they wanted to go do it.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_07]: I'm just going to do my job.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_07]: So I can completely understand, it's, I have no ill will towards him, shorts for being upset that he got passed over and I have no zero ill will toward the Browns to not giving in the job in us having to move on from and finding a different defense according to as long as you don't get Joe Woods, this defense should be fine.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_07]: And unlike the offense, there will be good defensive coordinators or guy up and coming defensive coordinators that will be chomping at the base to coach Miles Garrett, Mason Graham, Carson Schwesinger, potentially, J.O.K.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_07]: Denzo Ward, a Martin Nelson back, Grant Delpit, like, there are guys who will be chomping at the bit to come here and be defensive coordinator.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_07]: So, like, to me,
- 32:13[SPEAKER_02]: that's not a big deal.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't want Jim Schwartz as the head coach anyway.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think anybody on this show.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_02]: And we didn't want a defensive head coach period.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_07]: I don't believe and I would have said, you know, if a horrible or a McDermott.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: One of those rare exceptions to the rule, but, you know, we've gotten a little bit of insight, not a time, but a little insight as to what the interview process was like.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: And there was the six, you know, part questionnaire that these guys had to write some answers to and everything for
- 32:42[SPEAKER_02]: One of the questions specifically asked, how would you develop Shador Sanders?
- 32:46[SPEAKER_02]: I bet Jim Schwartz didn't have the best answer to that.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: I bet Todd Munkin's answer was way better.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: And if you ask anybody, like, developing your quarterback, that's going to trump anything that you can do with the defense, because that matters.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_02]: Again, we had a very good defense.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_02]: With Jim Schwartz for the last two years, we want eight games.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_09]: The offense was the focal point of this whole coaching search, right?
- 33:09[SPEAKER_09]: So unless Andy Reed was going to be his offensive coordinator, I don't know how he wins this.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know how he thinks he wins it.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_09]: I don't know how he goes.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_09]: Clears out his office as he says, FU on out of here, he clearly lost.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_09]: Just take it like a man and say, hey, you know what?
- 33:25[SPEAKER_09]: I don't think I can be here anymore, and he'll be let out of his contract.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_09]: There's just, it was dysfunctional way he did it.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_07]: And that's what they're trying to clear up.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_07]: Two things before I forget, well, I'm not already forgot one, but there's a comment here from junkyard just in this, his monkey seems to have some of that Kurt Signetti to him.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_07]: And I'm not going to lie.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_07]: I texted that to somebody earlier this week.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_07]: A kind of reminder, like a guy who has just kind of been paying his dues, working his way up, just putting in time, learning,
- 33:57[SPEAKER_07]: And then he finally gets his break late and then obviously, you know, I mean, like I in a little bit of a a swagger like in kind of like an old school swagger to him in terms of like you might not believe in me, but I believe in me kind of thing I text literally takes the exact same thing to somebody else like kind of reminds me of Kurt Signetti a little bit.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_07]: Hopefully we get the same results.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_07]: So we'll see, I forgot to go ahead, Justin.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_05]: doesn't he fit the bill though too for like Cleveland like blue color wise like they did that he's like 30 years of 30 years you know it's all it's all for this we've been working for this blah blah and like I'm like I'm like watching and I'm like I'm straight up rooting for the guy I'm like hell yeah but let's go let's make your 31 really great and let's go kick this thing let's go bro this goes go
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: There's no, there's no social media.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: There's no, I'd pretty it up for the kit.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like he gets off the plane.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: He gets what they got the video, right?
- 34:50[SPEAKER_02]: He's walking into the facility in Burilla.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_02]: He's coming in and like these old man jeans.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: He's just got like a sport coat thrown over like a white t-shirt essentially.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_02]: He's just walking in and he's not looking and he looks at the camera.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, hi, and keeps going.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_07]: That's what I saw my thing is like if you saw this guy's fit, you know, he's just all about football Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, that's like His jacket's too big his pants are too big like yeah, he's not a car.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_07]: No, no, it does not That's what I'm saying like he kind of has like a I think Cleveland's gonna really latch on to mix is We'd latch on to anybody.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_07]: I mean hell if they wait games some other means, but yeah, but I really think at you
- 35:31[SPEAKER_07]: I think the Brown, I think Brown's fans are going to like him.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_07]: I think he's got a little bit of an edge to him that they can relate to.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_07]: So I think that's good.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_07]: The last thing before we take quick break, we were talking about how developing Shoulddoor is important.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_07]: Even I know there's obviously huge fanbase and tono haters.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_07]: The quickest way for the Cleveland Browns to beat good is if Shoulddoor Sanders is good.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_07]: That is the quickest way for this to be a quick turnaround, because then you can add weapons around them, you're paying your quarterback on a rookie salary, you already have a good defense, you have everything in place, and now hopefully maybe the offense is spruced up.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_07]: You should want, if you're a fan of the Browns, you should want Todd Munkin to be able to turn, should or Sanders, and to a very good starting quarterback.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_07]: That is the quickest way for the Browns to turn it around and be competitive again.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_07]: to anybody who would be rooting against your door that is you're not a brownstone.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_05]: I can tell you watching that video of him in Shidorah interaction, man, put a lot of my insecurities about quarterback or what we're going to do or what even our approach is moving into this year.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_05]: I felt a lot better.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_05]: Watching that interaction and just kind of them laughing and you know, you know, jab and item about the Baltimore draft stuff, I'm excited.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_05]: Like to me that goes, hey, there's our quarterback, there's our head coach, start
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, when your coach is like, hey, man, we tried to draft your ass last year and then I didn't realize this before people started talking to me about it, but he tried to recruit should or should Georgia.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a history there.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's yeah.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like he he sees the potential which should or now.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, oh, yeah, I think I can coaches.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: He's seen it a long time ago.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's been years in the making that he thought should or Sanders had something worth investing in.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's really, really positive for the Browns.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_07]: Alright, do we want to quick take a quick commercial and then we'll come back and get to these voice mounts?
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, let's do that.

- 39:11[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, Blake, can you go through this list of, uh, hires real quick for this coaching staff before we did.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_02]: I was just going to say we should do that.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: We should be testing.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_07]: Like we've been doing this show for going on six years.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: Now look at us.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: It is crazy.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, okay.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: So Todd Munkin so far.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_02]: And this was my big thing, too, was I wasn't thrilled with the higher at first, but I wanted to see what the staff was going to look like.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: And it does look, it's as positive.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: We're getting all these guys from Baltimore.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: We already talked about this.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: But what a successful offense they've been.
- 39:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it's not just one person obviously is the credit.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_02]: So we got Travis Switzer starting at the top here was the Ravens run game coordinator is now the OC.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're going to see a heavy focus on the run game.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's this solidifies for me.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: We are investing big time in offensive line.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: in free agency.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you're going to see a big year from Quinshawn talked about with Angel Ortiz the other day how this is going to be a good free agent class for running backs.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: I want to be surprised to see us swing maybe on somebody because Quinshawn might not be fully ready.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, but I like what they're doing.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: So then the past game coordinator we get Danny Breyer was the Raven's office.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_02]: Offensive assistant worked a lot with the tight ends.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: So that's good for Harold Fanon, then QB coach, they just announced today was Mike Bajakian, Bajakian.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I'm saying that right, but he was with Monkon in Tampa Bay with James Winston.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_02]: And then offensive line coach up as the first tire was George Warhop.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_02]: That was the Raven's offensive line coach.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's a good one.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: And big, huge.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_02]: And they hired.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know exactly what his role was with the Ravens.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's very similar.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_02]: What he's going to be doing now.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: But he's the associate head coaches.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think the title.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_02]: I saw it.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_02]: I read about it.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_05]: He basically advised the hardball on fourth down analytics.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_05]: And I saw a little video on him.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: He was like clock.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: Wasn't like clock manager time engine.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_02]: We had a call time out and things like that.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_05]: From what I saw, it was he advised him to go forward or not to on forward down very analytical driven.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I just have data and analysis.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_07]: That's how I found on him.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_07]: One thing I think we should mention, a lot of Browns fans throw around the word analytics.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_07]: Like it's a dirty swear word.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_07]: They just want to get rid of it.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_07]: We need football guys, football guys.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_07]: John Hardball was one of the leading coaches in terms of using analytics.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_07]: And if so Todd Muckin is anything like John Hardball, the analytics are not going the way.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_07]: Like he learned that from Andy Reed, right?
- 41:34[SPEAKER_09]: He learned that from Andy Reed, did he not?
- 41:37[SPEAKER_07]: you didn't learn it for me, I don't know, but no, but I'm not sure, but yeah, you pronounce means just throw it around like, yes.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_07]: And so I know like a lot of brown friends don't even like to hear the A word, but it's not not when anywhere.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_07]: If Todd Munkin is learning anything from John Harbourn is going to take anything from him, the analytics are going to be are going to be here and they're going to be prevalent.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_05]: It's not like he specialized in Paul D. Pedesta.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_05]: That's, you know, that's all we need to know.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_05]: That's a dirty word.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_02]: Like game analytics are fine.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't have a problem with a process and analytics telling you.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: you're better off right here to go for two.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_02]: But I also need a football mind to overrule that and say, no, we're getting our butts spanked by the Titans.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_02]: We're trying to make a comeback here.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to put the pressure to get go for two on the next touchdown if we score.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just kick the freaking field goal.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_02]: We got a rookie quarterback and it's what fifth starter sports start.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's the kind of stuff I think that pisses people off out analytics.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_05]: Well, we're not going to keep him in for the fourth down try anyway.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
- 42:44[SPEAKER_05]: So what are we talking about, sir?
- 42:46[SPEAKER_05]: What are we talking about here, sir?
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, go ahead.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're good, man.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: That was it.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: That was the list.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the last one is this offensive analyst.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't not seen what his role is, but he's also from the Ravens in Colstay, Colstay.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_07]: Either way, once you bring them all over, bring them those guys, like I said at the beginning, I'll take anybody that was on that Raven's staff.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_02]: Well, maybe not on the defensive side, they were banged up a lot, but all right, let's get to these voice mails.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_02]: So we got first voice mail here.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: This one is from Green.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_08]: Hey.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_08]: Hey.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_08]: Good.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_08]: Good.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_08]: Good.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_08]: Good.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_08]: Good.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_08]: Good.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_08]: Good.
- 43:31[UNKNOWN]: Good.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_08]: not surprised by it, specifically, honestly, it's like we upset about the old situation.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_08]: I get to get it.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_08]: My question is, has anybody talked to my old spirit or against the Lord or anybody on that defect?
- 43:45[SPEAKER_08]: Because I don't imagine they're very, very upset with the old situation.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, my old spirit cannot be that big.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_08]: Goncio, I guess this world's stock have found the lurking out points that might be a lot decent.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_07]: I did say, one of my concerns when the higher was first announced, and it was like all the, at least the apparent dysfunction of the search and stuff like that, it miles post is staying on Instagram, like looking tired, and it was like a, is Munkett already lose locker room before he even started.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 44:24[SPEAKER_07]: I was worried about that, but to me,
- 44:27[SPEAKER_07]: Like, all I heard defensive players talking about this year was how they needed, we needed an offense.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_07]: I don't understand how you could be mad at the team for going with a guy who's going to help turn the offense around.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_07]: Like, I just, you can't sit there and complain about the offense all the time and talk about not scoring points in that kind of thing and you're on the field all the time.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_07]: And then when the team goes out, hires an offensive coach and tries to get the offense turn around, you're going to complain.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, what do you want?
- 44:59[SPEAKER_05]: Somebody posted in Discord earlier and it was Denzel Ward interview and I didn't get to watch all of it But did you see what he said?
- 45:05[SPEAKER_05]: He just said we're just excited the offense for what we want the offense to be better basically Yeah, yeah, I saw that too, but that's it.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah
- 45:13[SPEAKER_09]: I think they'd have to be, you know, again, not happy with some of this function and, you know, they don't want to lose their guy, but the points on the board makes them not have to like feel so much pressure in the game to like not screw up, so it'll be better overall for them.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, if you're the defense of guys like I understand being upset because you like Jim Schwartz is a coach and if he's gone, you'll be up, you know, disappointing that kind of stuff.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_02]: But your identity is you like Denzel Ward, you're not Denzel Ward because of Jim Schwartz, you're Denzel Ward because of Denzel Ward.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_02]: Miles Garrett, like you guys, you're gonna put it out there and play.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: you got to have pride right in your work go out there.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to be okay.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_02]: I can understand initially being upset, especially the way the reports came out.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: Jim Schwartz is telling coaches I'm gone.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not coming back.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_02]: Clean out his office, you know, he's whatever thrown a fit.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: The optics of the way it was all reported was they weren't good.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_09]: you know what I had in my mind when he he you know gave his or whatever he did to get leave was like the draft movie where you know the quarterback finds out that he's not or they drafts are going to draft another quarterback and he just trashes the GM's office that's that's what I had in my mind and then somebody dropping the playbook just burning on fire you know I kind of just saying that in jest but like your mind goes crazy when you
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: All right, we want to go to the next one here.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's kind of the same same kind of stuff.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: This one's from Kurt.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_03]: Hey guys, Kurt from Jersey, newly joined the dogs on Patreon and discord.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_03]: Happy to welcome.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you guys, I love your show.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_03]: But can we make a list of all the Miss Handlings this ownership has had.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_03]: since the hasms took over, because I think this season is on pace to be the worst, like it's going to top the kitchen season, it's going to top the huge Jackson season, it's going to be it's going to be disaster, because instantly when we hire a month,
- 47:21[SPEAKER_03]: the locker room.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_03]: The defense is totally on Swartz's side and why even interview him, why even interview him for head coach when you want to keep him as defense coordinator.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_03]: You got all these candidates coming in and you want to keep him, you want to make a stipulation that you keep Swartz as the defense coordinator when you're interviewing him.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_03]: So you're not even committed to keeping
- 47:48[SPEAKER_03]: And you, you, you wave this carrot in front of his face that he could be the head coach like what do you think is going to happen?
- 47:56[SPEAKER_03]: It's so ridiculous.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's so amateur.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: You're an NFL team.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_03]: What do you, you don't think you don't ask the guy like, hey, what if we don't go with you?
- 48:07[SPEAKER_03]: Ah, it's, it's frustrating, but go Browns.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_07]: He is hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt, hurt
- 48:35[SPEAKER_07]: So, but you can't not interview him for the head coaching job, because that's going to just make him just as mad.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_07]: You know what I mean?
- 48:41[SPEAKER_07]: The way you mean to tell me you want to, you're not giving me an opportunity for the promotion to be here.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_07]: So, I feel like...
- 48:49[SPEAKER_07]: they had to interview him because if you if they're like no you're not getting an interview then he's definitely going to say okay well then you know he's going to do the same thing if you don't give him the opera if he's not even given the opportunity to interview for the job and then if if you interview the only way he was going to be here is if he was the head coach and that's beyond it like that's beyond it's that's kind of the way it goes around the NFL like what if you're a coordinator like the coach gets fired
- 49:15[SPEAKER_07]: most time you're gone and very rarely do you then get promoted to head coach you know you know I mean so like I don't think you should have been surprising to and let's say we're really telling an interview it's like
- 49:27[SPEAKER_07]: made him really, really feel like it was going to be him, and then pulled the rug out from under his feet.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_07]: But I do see it from the Browns perspective in terms of if they don't interview him, he's just going to be ticked and walk.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_07]: And if they do interview him and don't give him the job, that's where we are now, he's just going to be ticked and walk.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_07]: Like there's outside of giving him the head coaching job, there's nothing they could really do.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_09]: At least I heard that guy's frustration, but I mean at the end of the day, it's not just the Browns.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_09]: I've been part of tons of interviews or I've been part of the interview process and I know that the person that works for us wants to be the next person up and I know that we're not going to retain them if they don't get it and that's life.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_07]: uh... there's a comment here when it says people uh... what month and did his first year with Lamar and average wide receivers and without their canary if you get yet i mean that his if you know we talked about when he left Cleveland with friday and then he when he went to the ravens after his stint in Tampa Bay
- 50:32[SPEAKER_07]: And we kind of like we're kind of making fun of them.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_07]: Like you guys hired Todd Bunkin.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_07]: He's terrible.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_07]: How's that gonna work with Lamar?
- 50:40[SPEAKER_07]: He can't throw and Todd Munkin's an air raid kind of offensive coordinator.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_07]: And then he won MVP.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_07]: He had his best seasons with him.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_07]: I think that kind of tells you
- 50:50[SPEAKER_07]: like that how it's not his it's not just this is my system and that's another thing I think Browns will pay and so appreciate a lot of people didn't like that Kevin was kind of rigidness system this is what we run this is what we're going to do Todd monkey it's not Todd monkey system it's these are Todd monkey players what system do we put them in for them to be successful so I think people will appreciate that
- 51:11[SPEAKER_07]: I did not think Todd Munking and Lamar Jackson were going to be a good fit.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_07]: At that time when he got hired and Baltimore, Lamar was not a great pocket passer.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_07]: He was definitely more of a threat to run.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_07]: They didn't have great wide receivers.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_07]: They didn't have Derek Henry.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_07]: I think they had Cuss Edwards, you know, or some combination of grudges and Mitchell and Mike Hammond-Dobbins, Dobbins and Gus Edwards.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_07]: So, um, and their offense was from right away, explosive, Lamar, all of a sudden looking completely different paths.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_07]: So, I do think that's a good point.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_07]: And I think it's like if you're something to be excited about, if you're a Browns fan.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_05]: If you're, he put out outrageous numbers in that MVP or if they're like 32 touchdowns like, it's like 42.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_07]: I think it was 42 touchdowns
- 52:02[SPEAKER_02]: And that could be huge because what was the biggest grape about Shidorah Sanders last year?
- 52:08[SPEAKER_02]: Whether it was his fault or not, it was like, we just can't avoid the turnovers.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_02]: It just keeps happening.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_02]: We're like, I'm just gonna turn over free game.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_02]: Nope, fumbles in the finale against the mango.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that this, we've already talked about it, but this, I'm excited to see how this looks with Shidorah Sanders because I do think that he's got talent.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to see it, you know, brought to the full potential on Todd Mocking could be that guy.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_07]: This is the Browns have had two 1,000 yard receivers, only once in franchise history, and it was 2019 when monkey was here.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_07]: That was OBJ in Jarvis.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_07]: And OBJ was banged up a lot that year.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_07]: He was not.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_07]: Didn't even play the, yeah.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_07]: So no, I do think, like it's kind of another radar, I think it could work out.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_07]: It's gonna be all predicated on Andrew Barry's ability to ask talent.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_02]: Can we ask talent?
- 52:59[SPEAKER_07]: Can we ask talent?
- 53:01[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, let's see, next four smells from Philip.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_00]: guys, Philipia from Dubai.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, top-munkin is for sure not a sexy pick, absolutely not.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we all got kind of enamored and excited about these young coaches.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_00]: And that was also in my mind thinking, what if McDaniels comes?
- 53:15[SPEAKER_00]: That was my favorite.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_00]: But then at the other hand, they can only do with what they got, especially the younger coaches.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the more experienced ones, maybe they can, you know, um, share them wisdom.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe he can get Shador on board.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_00]: There is this rumor all this thing that apparently he was a fan of Shador and the Ravens wanted to draft them as well.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's one thing another thing is we were gonna give you a door chance anyway So there's nothing changing there really we need to beef up the offense.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's gonna happen as well So nothing changed here anyways, so I don't see really any big change in what I was at first a bit disappointed and I felt let down I come on let's get you know
- 53:53[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get someone else in here, but maybe in the end a more senior person is what this team needs, and he can rally everybody behind him, and then, you know, we may see some magic here.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's our job as Brown fans to stay out the mystic.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm going to do.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe this is all a bit, we get more credibility, this whole thing comes down, and the stigma of being dysfunctional, maybe, you know, gets a bit, you know, the minute or something like this.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_00]: Go Browns.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_05]: Yo, shout out Philip into buy, let's say bro next the next you have Seekard.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I'm flying out dude.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_05]: I was I'll be your brother for a day.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_07]: I was just talking to the wife like last week like me and I want to go to Dubai.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_07]: I was asked I said what's the currency exchange rate?
- 54:41[SPEAKER_07]: Their money's worth a lot more now.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, it's a lot more to go there.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_07]: It's rich.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_07]: It's rich, it's rich.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_07]: I can go there and be like a shoe cleaner for somebody.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_07]: Like be polishing their shoes or something.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_07]: Got your bag, man.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_07]: I saw something on here.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_07]: It says, I'm drinking the cool aid.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_07]: I'm happy we can help you with that.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_07]: That's like the more we talk, the more like, man, here we go.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_07]: I do think too, a big thing in the real health at least on paper, the schedule's a lot easier.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_07]: I'm pretty sure, at least right now, on paper, it's the, we have the easiest schedule in the league, as opposed to on paper coming into last season, it was the hardest schedule in the league.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_07]: So, I think that was two years in a row for us, too.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_07]: So, I do think like the, if we can add offensive talent, we get, we get the offensive coaching here, I do think there's a chance
- 55:35[SPEAKER_07]: maybe winning more games than we thought again, it's all predicated on if we can get something out of the shador and if we add talent to the offensive side of the ball.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_07]: Because I don't care how good Todd Munkin is as it stands right now, we're not going to win for ball games.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_07]: We have to add this offense.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_07]: I know I said we need 10 new starters.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_07]: We have bare minimum probably at least seven.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_07]: to be competitive.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_07]: I would say the entire offensive line.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_05]: I was saying I can't wait for week two and we're on our third string and just like, oh, yep.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_05]: The three years are out.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, I was about to make a point.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_02]: but I want to play this voice in my last one.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_02]: This is from Claude.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_02]: He asked a question that will lead into what I was about to say.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_02]: So here we go with that.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_04]: Hey gang, Claude from Erio.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_04]: So, pumpkin monkey, a couple of weeks ago called a, my Josh and yeah, you told me to temper, temper my optimism because how stoked I was.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_04]: It's it's tempered but I am a glass half full kind of guy always will be and so I'm gonna try and Sprinkle some optimism here.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_04]: This is all observation in opinion, but yeah, here we go So top monkey who's part of the Ravens last year right Ravens wanted to drop Shador and So my assumption is that they are monkey went in with a plan for Shador and the Browns must have really liked it
- 57:02[SPEAKER_04]: that's that I'm guessing.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_04]: We also remember Shador has a subculture of fans that are just Shador fans.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_04]: So the browns are going to keep them because those fans are going to buy seats.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_04]: That's just the reality of it.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, as terms of like the draft and our wider seabers, we got a decent, we got a decent pick.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_04]: hopefully get a wide receiver, Tader Lemon, and then we also have Bond.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_04]: Bond wasn't able to even really do much off the field or on the field this year because he didn't really get to practice.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_04]: So I think he'll be able to get to develop and just what do you think of any free agents?
- 57:37[SPEAKER_04]: Who do you who would you want?
- 57:38[SPEAKER_04]: And who do you think we can actually get?
- 57:39[SPEAKER_04]: Talk about?
- 57:40[SPEAKER_04]: Well, well, well, well,
- 57:42[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and that leads into my what I was going to say, Kenny, did you want to shout out Claude real quick?
- 57:47[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I'm going to shout out.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_09]: I'll shout out.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_09]: Claude, dude.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_09]: Erio, brother.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_09]: I'm from Erie Beach, man.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_09]: We're five minutes apart by car.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_09]: I grew up.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_09]: I went to Blentham District.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_09]: You probably went there too.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_09]: And it's good here and you on this, buddy.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_09]: There's another guy in from Toronto.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_09]: He's calling.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_09]: I'm a Browns Raptors, Jay's guy, too.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_09]: Guys, keep on calling from the Great White North, baby.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_07]: All right, except for if you're gonna call on the show, I don't want to hear about centimeters Okay Selfiest my man He's always texted me.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like, I don't know how cold that is Can he's always texted us in how many centimeters a snow they got?
- 58:24[SPEAKER_07]: I'm like get out of here with you
- 58:29[SPEAKER_09]: If we talk inches down here, oh my gosh, but I got to see, I got to see Klo next time I go back home.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_09]: I'm getting down to Ariel in July, brother.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_02]: We'll hook up.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_02]: So to go to his point, though, real quick, what I wanted to mention.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_02]: We were talking about how we need all these new players.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_02]: We need an all new offensive line.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_02]: And then he said, any free agents.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_02]: Well, all of a sudden, I think the
- 58:51[SPEAKER_02]: The pie in the sky is like Tyler Linder Bomber, center from Baltimore's going to be free agent.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_02]: Is there any way the Browns could possibly get him throw enough money at him he would come here and then Jim Harball or John Harball signs when New York's like, ah, he'll probably go there.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_02]: Ah, Todd Munk and the offensive line coach, the running game coordinator all came to Cleveland.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_02]: Now of a sudden, I like our prospects of landing a guy like Tyler Linder Bomber.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_02]: And if the Todd Munk and higher helps us land that, tape a player to kick off free agency,
- 59:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I'm really going to drink that cool lid.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_09]: You know, you know what, well, I think we can get about $95 to $100 million a cap room, you know, just get us on the way that's fun.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_09]: It's a cap when up a ton.
- 59:35[SPEAKER_09]: We're rolling over 20 mil.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_09]: And then if you take to Sean, Miles and Denzel, you restructure them.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_09]: You're 80 there, I think.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know, or some of us, I think you'd be that one.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: 111, 181, 20.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's basically like okay.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_02]: We can do some work.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_05]: I don't understand it.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't get it.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's where I will go into Barry Flowers right there because he understands the cap better than I think a lot of other GMs and he handles the problem with him is he structures his contracts well and it works for the team but the players that he does it with don't.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_02]: That's typically that's a problem.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_02]: If it works out then
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I mean for a moment here, I was going to say he was asking for free agents for me.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_09]: Both guards from the Panthers are they're up.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_09]: You could get them if you get Tyler Lindner bomb draft two tackles Bob Jronkelman.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah, I just was coming.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_09]: I'm just worried about the offensive line.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_07]: Yes, agreed.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_07]: I have a comment here that says bond is going to have a breakout season under a monkey.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_07]: I do think that's a match made in heaven.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_07]: He just, you know what I mean?
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know, is EZS twitchy is a ZA flowers?
- 1:00:47[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know, but like, kind of gives those vibes, you know, like a quick guy.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_07]: So in ZA flowers excelled with Todd Monkant.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_07]: Talking about free agents and players, obviously we've all been huge.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_07]: We've got a couple more minutes so we can talk about this.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_07]: We've all been talking about Cardinal Tate no matter what it's sick.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_07]: Or at least one of these big three-wide receivers.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_07]: Is there anybody else who's starting to think Lyman instead of receiver?
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_07]: Or are you guys all still dead set at receiver?
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still set on receiver just because I like, I like the offensive lineman that at least right now are projected to be available later in the first round than I do the receivers.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_09]: So I would say I'm starting, I think Blake, you're turning over and I'm turning over.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_09]: If you take a look at the actual dollar value, the receiver is the better option to go if they really hit.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_09]: If you don't hit on tape, it's tough.
- 1:01:47[SPEAKER_09]: And if you take an offensive lineman, it's just more of a sure pick for a slightly less money and it's better overall value.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_09]: and based on what you can get from the University of Miami right now, I'd be all over that guy and dropping down for my second pick as at receiver.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_09]: And I think you can get Denzel Boston or somebody down there that you could.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_09]: turn into something.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_09]: Based on having Judy and Bond, I just think our offensive line is so depleted.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_09]: If you can get a mallar and someone who's decent in past protection, I think that goes a long way for this run game coordinator that's been promoted up to our O.C.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_09]: right now and we can run that damn ball.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not obviously, I want the shiny toy so I would prefer a wide receiver,
- 1:02:41[SPEAKER_07]: It all it all starts up front.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_07]: I mean, look at a high state, for example.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_07]: Like a high state always has the best receivers and usually like the best running backs.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_07]: And at any time we lose, it's because we're not good in the trenches, offensive line and defensive line.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_07]: You look at like any of these teams left in the playoffs.
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_07]: They're offensive line or mallers.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_07]: They're just physical just pat.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_07]: So it all depends on what we do in free agency.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_07]: And I do think like Josh like what you're saying,
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_07]: where you can get certain players matter.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_07]: If you think you can get a guy who's just barely a step below at the tackle position and the second round is compared to what you'd get at six, but then like the drop off from here you would get it receivers, a huge, you know, a full letter grade lowered, then take the receiver.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_07]: So I think there's, you gotta weigh that kind of stuff, but...
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_07]: I just think like, it doesn't, we can add five dramatic chases to this team.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_07]: And if we have the same offensive line, we're not going to be any good.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_09]: Look at what the offensive line did in the senior bowl.
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_09]: Did you guys watch senior bully yesterday?
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_09]: I started offensive line, draft every single one of those guys from on the Browns.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_09]: That's one of those.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_09]: They were getting, like, the line itself was getting five yards down the field, then the running back.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_09]: And they did a fantastic job not taking anything away from the running backs.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_09]: But they were almost getting like 10 yards of crack.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the guy I love in the draft is Jennings Dunker the off in the time and out of Iowa.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_02]: The, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_05]: So what I will say about the receiver and we can get into this down the road two is at six.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_05]: How many more times are we going to say, hey, let's take a chance on a third round or a second round wide receiver and, you know, it'll all work out and then it never does.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_05]: Like for me, if they take a shot at Lemon, Tate or Tyson,
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_05]: I'm cool with it because right now we have receivers that can't get separation anyway.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_05]: Obviously, if you can't hold the line and you're getting blown up for, you know, rotten game doesn't work as the offensive lines.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_05]: Thanks, you can't get any kind of coverage or, you know, you can't protect quarterback.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_05]: It is what it is.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_05]: Go, go get a weapon.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_05]: Go get some weapons, please.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_05]: Please.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_02]: The only way I'll be mad because if they go if they go offensive Lyman at six, I'll be happy.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see receiver.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_02]: Great.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_02]: If they go defense, I won't be missed off.
- 1:05:09[SPEAKER_05]: Tackle on the record.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_05]: It's not a little bit hot on the graph.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_07]: It's unbelievable.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_07]: How many people I see in our comments saying that Caleb Downs?
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_07]: I like, I like, I like, I like, I like, I like, I love Caleb Downs.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_07]: I love Caleb Downs.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_07]: One, you don't draft a safety in the top 10, okay?
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_07]: And you, you don't draft a safety in the top 10.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_07]: When you're coming off back to back, two of the most historically bad offenses in NFL history, what are we talking about?
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know if it's just a high estate, homerism or, or what, like, a safety in the top 10, when we averaged eight and a half points of game,
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_07]: Obviously, I'm being slightly, I'm not even that far off, not really, you know, just double IQ 16 points again, man, we, you can't, the way this draft work, I didn't think we should draft it in a defense of players this last draft, you know, but it worked out, you know, honestly, it probably saved a injury, a very sharp, it worked out, but this, this one, I don't think you can draft a defensive, if we take a corner like, like,
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_07]: fourth, fifth round, you know, I'm okay because like you can never have enough db's, but these first four or five picks have to be offense.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_07]: And a majority of your money and free agency has to be offense.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_07]: You need seven to eight starters on the offensive side of the ball.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_02]: And can we not just waste another mid-round pick on a quarterback?
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm cool with that.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_02]: Stop doing that.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm cool with that, bro.
- 1:06:46[SPEAKER_02]: Would you, especially when we fall?
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_07]: How early is too early?
- 1:06:52[SPEAKER_07]: I'm with to draft Dr. Aller.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_02]: I knew you were going to say it.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_02]: I knew you were going to say Dr. Aller.
- 1:06:59[SPEAKER_07]: And listen, there's nobody on this show.
- 1:07:01[SPEAKER_07]: I don't think he's been a bigger dr. Aller hater than me when he was in college.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_07]: how early is too early to take him.
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_09]: Before six of the, I'm not, I'm not putting anything towards quarter back.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_09]: That's what I mean, I put like four assets towards quarter back last year.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_09]: Let's let's actually be have the ability to develop one, but put in line.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_09]: Yeah.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_09]: Receivers.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_09]: Yes.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_09]: Another tight end.
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_09]: I know, Ashley, if Joker doesn't want to hear that, but we're probably going to play some 31
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_07]: I think if we took an aller in anything like you said after the fifth.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, I mean, I mean, okay, we're in the fifth, but I would, especially we just hired an offensive coach.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_07]: Obviously, I hope she doors the guy and you know, we all think he has talent.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_07]: But drillers, you know, six, six mobile, rocket arm, like he's a prototypical NFL quarterback who is extremely high ranked coming into college and then got forced to play for James Franklin in the awful Penn State offensive scheme.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_07]: It's never developed anybody on the offensive side of the ball in 20 years.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_07]: Could he be a reclamation project you draft late and I'm not saying I want them to.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_07]: I'm just saying like Kenny, I don't want to wait in you.
- 1:08:16[SPEAKER_07]: I don't want to waste picks on a quarterback.
- 1:08:18[SPEAKER_07]: If they took a flyer on him way, way late, I would probably be okay with it.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_09]: What I always want to be developing, right?
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_09]: Like you should always be doing that and making it move towards other assets down the road.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_09]: You know, that's how you get a choir talent.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_05]: Do we really want to be talking about four quarterback room training camp and all that again, Blake?
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_05]: That's all I'm going to say.
- 1:08:41[SPEAKER_05]: I'll present it to you.
- 1:08:43[SPEAKER_05]: Well, we did have two pro bulls.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_07]: It's supposed to be like, but here's the thing.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_07]: Supposedly, one of the quarterbacks was Kevin's guy and Kevin's not here.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_07]: There's no, there's potentially no legions to Dylan Gabriel.
- 1:08:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_07]: If they drafted Dylan, Dr. Aller late in the six round, there's no Grant.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_07]: Dylan Gabriel could be cut.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_07]: He's a threat.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's fair.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_02]: No, no.
- 1:09:04[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to yeah draft true all of with whatever pick Andrew Barry gets for doing Gabriel with Atlanta.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_07]: There you go Hey book it and I'm seeing I'm seeing a lot in here drillers awful trust me guys
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_07]: If you're in the discord, or if you're in some of our texts, there's no, I have no affinity, but I'm just looking at his size and his attributes and all that stuff, could you take a flyer on a guy like that very, very late, now that you have a guy who supposedly is offensive, you know, like can adapt his system to any kind of player?
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_07]: I'll at least listen to it way, way, way, way, way, way late, you know, that kind of thing.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_07]: So it's just a name I brought up.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_07]: I'm not, you know, dust my ears and any one of these guys, you know, something like that.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_07]: But nothing before the fifth round, please.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_09]: It's hailing green.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_09]: He's got, he's got some attributes, man.
- 1:09:59[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, he looked awful in the senior.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_09]: Oh, I'm not saying he looked good.
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_02]: I said he's got attributes.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's all I said.
- 1:10:06[SPEAKER_02]: Oh.
- 1:10:06[SPEAKER_02]: And no, no Simpson.
- 1:10:08[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to have to talk about Tyson's and I think because as much as and we don't have time now, but as much as we don't want to admit it There's he's going to be in discussions at 24 not saying he needs to be or should be, but you know it's going to happen at least around the media Yeah, so
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_07]: We'll see, we'll cross the bridge when we get there.
- 1:10:27[SPEAKER_07]: We'll go and wrap this thing up.
- 1:10:29[SPEAKER_07]: We appreciate what he's been here.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_07]: It's exciting now that the Browns have it in off a head coach, a new head coach, putting together a staff.
- 1:10:36[SPEAKER_07]: We can finally start to turn the page on this.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_07]: I like that I was basically able to do a whole episode without mentioning Kevin Stephane's ski because I'll be messing around there.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_05]: There you go.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I mean, most of the way, I'm all in on the new coaching staff.
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_07]: I'm very excited to see what we do.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_07]: I've talked myself into being excited to see what Todd Munkin does with the team.
