- 0:04SPEAKER_00: I go voting this morning and I'm talking to somebody and uh one of them mentioned younger cat.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: He said, Really good look good for your age.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: And again, that's kind of what you don't get when you're as fat as I was at a herd 135 pounds fatter than I am now.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: So I talked to him a little bit.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: And one of the things I mentioned, I said, you know, it's so interesting.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: We were both standing up, and they had offered me a seat.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: They said, Hey, why don't you go sit down over there?
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna probably be sitting today occasionally, but I don't have to sit.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: And he kind of paused, and there were several other people sitting down over there.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: He said, Well, I'm gonna be standing all day.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: And I said, Well, good for you.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: I said, That was one of the things that really helped me get past that whole problem with being completely fat.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And I know standing wasn't the trick, but actually not being more active throughout the day.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: So I had also mentioned, I said, Yeah, what you can do.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: He was a heavier set fella, but in his late 20s, and it kind of when I see that, because I was super fat most of my life.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Now, there were times in there when I was less fat.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: But anyway, so seeing him, I said, you can grab a couple water bottles and sit at your desk or wherever and just do presses.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Just two water bottles, just press and do flies.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: You can just sit in your chair and do that as you're digesting what you're working on on the screen.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: I know I compile a lot of videos and content here.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: So when I do, there's time when the computer's chewing on something, digesting it, rendering it, making it so I can then edit it and do more work with it.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Well, then that case, I love those moments because then it gives me time to do stuff.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And of course, I have a stand-up desk, so usually I'm not sitting down.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Depending on the video, sometimes I'll stand up, sometimes I'll sit down.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: But most of the day I'm standing at my desk right in front of it, where it's just about the IE level with the keyboard, and when my R's are about 90 degrees, that's about my right height.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: So I have the computers in front of me, I stand all day long and really don't notice it.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And that's important too because I'm constantly active.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Now then people say, well, if you stand all the time, you're gonna get varicose veins, and I don't know what I'm gonna get.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: All I know is how I feel being 135 pounds, less fat, and actually on a whole different path.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And that brings me to the goal and the path.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: I had no idea where I was gonna end up.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: I had tried to drop fat so many times and failed each and every one.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: But something was different.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Something had changed me.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: And the only thing I can point my finger at to be the biggest change is two things.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: First, fasting.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: I read a book by Jason Fung, The Obesity Code, and it made sense.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: So then I started to fast.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Yes, not eating for a period of time.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: In fact, I just finished a 40-hour dry fast.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: These are more advanced fasting techniques, and of course, before you fast, you want to talk to your doctor.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: But that, in addition with testosterone therapy, because my testosterone hormone was incredibly low through all the years of everything, probably being on that police bike, inhaling all that exhaust.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I had a few major crashes on it, was on several different types of meds, painkillers and stuff for longer periods of time.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: So when your body gets that abuse done to it, then what ends up happening is that testosterone level seems to come down.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: And again, I got it checked and then got that level normalized.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: And then that was also the game changer.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: So a couple things maybe to look at, look at fasting, and if you're male or female, get those hormones checked.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Usually it's an issue of overconsumption, eating too much all the time, and not giving your body the break that it really needs.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: And if you're panicked about losing muscle, let me set your mind at ease.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: I know that you need protein and food intake to maintain muscle, but when you're not eating food for a period of time, your body has a mechanism in place to protect the muscle.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: It doesn't want to burn the muscle.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: You might lean your muscle out.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Your muscle might have marbling like a great steak from a supermarket, but maybe you'll lean that out, thereby showing less muscle volume.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: But the muscle is healthier in that shape.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: And then in addition, when you're fasting, your body releases extra growth hormone, it preserves the muscle, and it goes for what it needs in the event of starvation, which is, of course, stored body fat, which you may have a surplus of.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: To get rid of it, you have to access it.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: There's two ways I found, and look, look all this up.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: This is just my experiences related to you.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: There's a ketogenic diet where you're basically eating no sugar, no carbohydrates, no pastas, no breads.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: You're eating kind of five basic things.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: You're eating meat, you're eating fish, you're eating eggs, and then you're eating vegetables, you're eating fruit.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: And the fruit, the fruit is okay, but don't forget the fruit has its own mechanism so it doesn't shock your body to release a lot of insulin.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: And that's the fiber in it.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: But if you're getting rid of the fruit eating f fiber, fiber, if you're getting rid of the fiber eating fruit, well then you just might as well drink a whole glass of sugar to be able to have the same kind of an effect.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: The fiber is usually the rind or the outside of the fruit.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: And I know that fruit from years ago, before they started to tinker with it, fruit probably wasn't as fun to eat as it is now.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: But I if you could force it down, you could eat quite a few bananas, quite a few apples.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: But I can drink a whole gallon of apple juice.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: So still, I know I always say seasonal fruit.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: You only have the seasonal fruit from whatever's local to you.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: You shouldn't be eating a pound of grapes every day for the rest of your life.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: That's gonna create all sorts of problems.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: But again, fruit in moderation, probably, and I hate that word moderation.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: I hate to even say it.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: So don't worry about the fruit right now.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: But again, meat, eggs, fish, and vegetables.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Huh.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Try that for a little while.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: That's gonna kick you into ketosis for the most part, meaning that your body is going to not have any incoming sugar or carbohydrates.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: So once it gets through whatever's stored in your liver, 2,000 to 2,500 calories, your liver is able to store of sugar.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Once it burns through that, then your body has no other choice for fuel except to go to your body fat.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: My experiences is at the very beginning, switching to that type of eating regimen, I did notice that I was a little tired.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: But my body hadn't been used to that fuel source.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: We all have it built into us.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: If you're, I don't know if we all do.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: I think everybody does.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: But again, check with your doctor before you do it.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: I have to be careful of what I say.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: But check with your doctor, and maybe if not eating as much sugar seems to work and seems to make sense for them, maybe you should try it as well.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: I do know it worked for me.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: I'm Connor with Honor.
