- M2: Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Sisters Sisters. I am joined yet again by my sister, Mouselet1. M1: Hello everyone, I wonder when we're gonna switch back to me intro-ing the show. M2: I think we're permanently switched. I do want to do a quick introduction because we have a big influx of new listeners. New? We have a big influx of new listeners, which is very exciting. So I just wanted to give a very brief intro as to like, as to who we are, whose voice is who. I'll let you start because you're M1. M1: To me? ⁓ Mouselet 1, so I am the oldest sister and then we have my sister who's Mouselet 2 and we also have a younger brother who's Mouselet 3. We are kind of like the core of the three Mouselets, but people get very confused so we do have a family tree pinned on Instagram, which I think is very helpful if you aren't as familiar with WhoisWho, but I am Mouselet 1 and I typically am wearing glasses, not always, but... M2: And if you're listening on audio, that's her voice. I'm Mouselet2, I don't wear glasses. And today I'm wearing a lime green shirt and a magenta sweatshirt, which is a look. M1: I said, ⁓ 80s workout queen. She has kind of a high pony neon colors. M2: A little bit about me, I'm a civil engineer. work in Boston. ⁓ What else? I love to work out. I love my dog. I'm married. We're actually, all the kids are married. So yes, there's a family tree on our page, but the main people you will hear, me, Mouselet2. M1: Me, Mouselet1, and then sometimes we have other people on. I didn't say a little about me, I didn't know we were doing that, but ⁓ I work in tech, I live in New York with my husband, MouseletC, and we just had a baby, our little Miclet. M2: That's okay. Hopefully that was helpful. If you're a new listener, if you're more confused, just look at the good look at the pyramid on our Instagram page. That'll really help you out. We have a really fun episode today because there has been so much buzz about the Disney's villain land. So we're gonna talk all about that. But I want to talk about a little bit about my trip coming up in less than a month, which I'm excited about. Don't she's gonna movie. I see her gearing up. M1: Look at that family tree. Hang on. M2: You're outrageous. M1: I wasn't as sad about the other one. This one, a miffed. M2: So I am staying, well, I'm not gonna give too many details, because it's still in works. Things are still in the works, as usual. We have no dining reservations, none of that, but we're staying at the Riviera. And we've actually stayed at the Riviera one time before. And so I wanted to bring up a memory that I remembered, because in the Patreon segment before this, sitting on the ground talking, we were telling all sorts of mouse-litz lore and funny stories. And I remembered another really funny story that I wanted to tell everyone, which is that when we got to the Riviera, the... one of the classiest, maybe Grand is a little more classy, Grand Floridian, but one of the classiest Disney resorts, instead of just walking through the main entrance like a normal person, we decided to walk through the side as like a shortcut. M1: because we driven our car and the parking lot is down to the side. And so we weren't really that close to the main entrance. And as you will see sort of the ongoing thread through these stories is that we love a shortcut, okay? M2: We love a shortcut. So we had our suitcases. We had a ton of stuff in our hands. I had tied my sneakers to my suitcase and they were like dragging behind it. We have to go up a series of small steps. We get to that side door. Okay, it's locked, which is kind of weird. Like I'm thinking of like a Marriott where like the side doors would just allow a key card. No, it's locked. So we had to like walk the walk of shame back and go all the way up to the front, which we should have just done to begin with. ⁓ But it reminded me. I feel like we have at least three or four other shortcuts that have also gone wrong, like usually ineffective. I don't even know if you remember any of them, do you? M1: So one of them was at the Grand Californian in Disneyland and also you and I are Walt Disney World experts, okay? We know Disneyland, the parks, downtown Disney and the resorts, like not so much at all. And so, well, yeah, exactly, exactly, my point. So up until this point, I honestly would have said I know the area pretty well, but we go to the Grand Californian and for some reason we decide, M2: I think I do. I don't know the Grand Californian, but well. M1: You know what, we probably didn't wanna go through security to get back into downtown Disney, I guess. We were attempting to get to the Disneyland Hotel. We said, perfect. We sort of looked at a giant map vaguely on the wall of the Grand California and we said, perfect. If we just plow through the convention center, we're just sort of gonna be able to bop out right over to Disneyland Hotel exactly where we need to go. Okay, we attempted to do that. We're walking. M2: We're wandering through the convention center. M1: The completely empty convention center where we've never been before and we know absolutely nothing about, where we go out a door, we end up at like, like a berm into a ditch onto a road that you could not access. It was like a service road. MouseLutu and I were absolutely not supposed to be there. M2: I'm getting confused with our yacht club story. I thought we walked into a wedding. That must have been at the yacht club. M1: ⁓ maybe that was at the art club. Well, maybe we walked into a wedding at the Grand Californian also. M2: There was also a cast member who asked us if we needed help and we said, no. We were humiliated. M1: No, we said no, no, we don't. But ultimately at the Grand Californian, we ended up on a service road. Because you can't go that way. Yes. M2: No, no, no, no. We ended up walking back into downtown Disney and we had to, oh, cause we couldn't walk that way. Fine. I don't know if it's a service room. We ended up in the dead end courtyard where you can see the monorail passing by. This is very similar to a story when we were in the yacht club convention center trying to cut through when I believe we may have entered into a wedding. And then we also, I mean, we've done this many times at the Swan and Dolphin. M1: Right, we, yeah, because we ended up in a service road that you couldn't, yeah, you couldn't walk that way. a wedding. M2: You can't cut through or the doors are locked in the convention center. And so we end up walking like through the grass through this like weird parking lot. It's which now we just do now. That's like our literal preferred path. M1: That is like... It's Mouseletoo's preferred path. Mouseletoo's always like shortcut, shortcut. It's barely a shortcut. M2: Speaking speaking of shortcut at when we stayed at the Newport Bay at Disneyland Paris you insisted on walking up this giant Grass hill with our suitcases instead of just walking around so talk about someone who loves a shortcut shortcut. Wait, what's this from shortcut shortcut to the shortcut? M1: Hahaha. Guys, shortcut, yeah, what is it from? ⁓ it's from Holiday Inn. Nobody knows that. Nobody understood that reference. M2: If you guys Our family loves the movie Holiday Inn. That's the lore. If you love it, please let us know. I feel like we're alone in that. So. M1: But anyways, we love a shortcut. We are always trying to do a shortcut. And I would say most of the time, they end up being long cuts. Either we're locked out, we're winding through. Yeah, we're locked out. I remember one time, and this may be the same as the Yacht Club one, I don't know. But we, I think it's because we were hot, actually. I think it's because we were really, really hot. So we went into the Yacht Club at like one end. M2: We're locked, locked out. M1: And we were like, perfect, we'll just like walk through to the lobby. But like the building isn't set up like that at all. And we were just going through halls and halls and halls of rooms. And I think we ultimately ended up back outside. M2: snaking through the halls. I don't remember that. I'm confusing the Yacht Club Convention Center. it's really, like it's barely, it's like an inkling in my mind. ⁓ M1: One time we did walk into a wedding. To be clear, we did not go inside, but we just sort of flung open a door and there was a wedding, like a reception, a reception. M2: No. Well, we were there. was absolutely unmarked. I give us I like it was no one was around. M1: Yeah, and it wasn't like a ceremony. It was like a party. We just turned turned on our heels and went back to wherever we were. M2: Said oops, whoops, whoops. Anyway, my trip. So yeah, we're staying in the Riviera. Excited, very, very excited. know, didn't think this, didn't know this trip would come together, but it did. We don't have any dining booked yet, but we will have some soon. I actually wanted to do a whole episode on dining at Animal Kingdom. You guys, if you follow us on Instagram, probably know that, because I asked a bunch of questions in the story. I'm still gonna do it. ⁓ I'm thinking M1, you'll do it with me because. I realized that Mousely Day is never eaten at Animal Kingdom and like 75 % of the people who listen to this podcast have also never eaten at any restaurant at Animal Kingdom that sit down. Tiffin's, Tusker House, even Nomad Lounge or Yakin Yeti. So we're gonna do some sort of sit down there I think. I think it'll be fun. ⁓ M1: Are those the only three sit downs at Animal Kingdom? M2: Yeah, and Nomad if you wanna count it. And Rainforest Cafe, but. M1: I don't. Well, can't forget that queen. ⁓ I guess technically counts, M2: Don't don't hate on the rainforest cafe Wait wait This is even what this episode is about but we used to go to the rainforest cafe in our mall growing up and anytime the gorilla part would go up Mels that one was so scared. This is such a great segue into her main topic Oh my god, that was the one was so scared that she would have to leave the entire restaurant. She was so scared of the gorillas M1: I think that happened like once, but yeah, it was dark and scary and like thunder. M2: Happen many times used to be so scared of it Which is such a great segue into the fact that we're talking about the villains land But first we do need to get into a little bit of news Rock and Roller Coaster is closed permanently. Mouselet1 wrote in our show notes, did you know Muppets is opening this summer? I saw his earliest Memorial Day. I did know that. It's been announced all over the place. M1: Okay, I mean, I know it's been announced, like people keep being like, ⁓ yeah, it's like gonna be reopened in like a few weeks, 12 weeks or something. Which when you think about it is crazy for them to do an entire overlay. It makes me a little bit worried about the quality of what we're getting. Maybe it's gonna be great. I don't know. mean, Rockin' is dark. So like, it's not like you need like crazy gigantic things inside. M2: I was going to say that. They're painting the guitar on the outside. They've already been doing the pre-show, which is great. I think that's smart of them. I'm curious if they're gonna re-theme that parking garage or if you're gonna be getting in a limo outside in a parking garage with the Muppets. M1: That parking garage should be the biggest thing that they have to re-theme, because again, inside in the dark, like they have to put up new big neon, you know, props or whatever, but those aren't like a huge themed area. Yeah. The parking garage should be the biggest thing. I'm, I don't know. It depends on the storyline, I guess, but I could see them leaving it. It's fine with me. That's okay with me. M2: play different music, yeah. I think they're leaving it. I think that this is... I think it's gonna feel a lot like rock and roller coaster. And honestly, I'm okay with that. ⁓ that news, yes, I did know that. Rockin' is closed, guys. M1: The next is a Maslow 2 wanted to report on this last time, so I figured I would report on it this time. Mickey and Minnie have new meet and greet costumes. you are a DVC member who is meeting them at the DVC meet and greet in Epcot, they have new spring costumes, which to me look more like summer, but technically they're spring. They're like blue and white stripes. They're cute. They're very beachy. Hence why they remind me of summer, M2: You! Okay, the last two pieces of news, Mouselet1 wrote, these are quite literally, this next one maybe is not as bad. The last one is the worst piece of news we've ever shared on this podcast. Every single person will just turn it off when they hear it. The next piece of news, Mouselet1 wrote, scaffolding has gone up in Monstropolis. Yes, the construction continues in Monstropolis. More iconically that we haven't discussed in the podcast yet is that they've cleared out a parking lot to build the giant roller coaster. So that's occurring, but sure, the scaffolding has also gone up. M1: It's a light news week, it's a light news week. The last piece of news, the last piece of news, Gerty, who is the dinosaur, you're booing Gerty. Gerty the dinosaur at Echo Lake, her tail fell off. That's kind of a crazy piece of news. Her tail had a giant crack in it and then her tail fell off. So, RIP, hopefully we see it coming back soon. M2: Just, yeah, I just do it. I love Gertie, but I'm booing your news. I'm booing your news. Wow, rest in peace. A really light news week. luckily we have a really good episode planned. So let's get into the main episode. Villains land. There has been a buzz on Maggie about the villains land. First news came out that Disney was thinking bigger ideas. Then the rap published kind of an insane article about the villains land. There is truly so much to talk about with villains land. And so. We're going to get into it first with just an intro in case you don't know about it. Perhaps it's possible or you don't know where it's going to be. I will tell you. So the Villains land is going to be located at Magic Kingdom. Disney decided to tear away my heart and soul, which was Thomas Rose and my iconic riverboat. And they're replacing it with basically two new areas, the first in the front of where it used to be. The Rivers of America, they're putting. Piston Peak, which is a cars attraction and sort of a miniature little land area. And in the back and also extending kind of by the railroad all the way back is a new lands that they're building called Villains Land. M1: So they initially had presented this at D23 sort of around these concepts of like what might lie behind Big Thunder Mountain. And they were talking about, I believe Coco and Incanto were the other two concepts that they kind of threw out there and then villains. the story has it, I don't know if this is true, but the story has it that like when they sort of threw out those concepts, the villains concept got so much. attention and people were so excited about it that that's kind of what pushed them to move forward in that direction. Whether or not that's true, who knows, but anyways at the next D23 they officially announced that they were indeed going to build that Villains Land. However, there has long been a rumor that circulated on social media that they were going to build something like this in the past and that was called Dark Kingdom. M2: It I literally screen-shotted the like spammy post that I feel like goes viral far too often. Did you know that Disney once considered building a park dedicated entirely to villains called Dark Kingdom, which would have featured Maleficent's castle as its iconic centerpiece. This is not true. This is not true literally at all. Imagineers have confirmed it's not true. Like this was never true. Someone made this up. The biggest thing like Disney would never consider doing a park around one theme like this. They just wouldn't do that. So no, this was not true. That being said, Disney has incorporated their villains periodically over the years in the different parks. think the the OG example I'll give is Snow White Scary Adventures, which was, you know, a dark ride. They sell it at Disneyland. They had it at Disney World where Princess Fairytale Hall was. And that attraction. was sort of terrifying and I think it used to be even scarier. You're riding through the woods, you see the, what's that like hunting man name? The huntsman? The huntsman. You see the huntsman, you see the magic mirror, you see the hag who's absolutely, the hag is horrifying. It was a scary ride, so scary in fact that at Disneyland they ended up re-theming it to a less scary version of Snow White. And this will sort of. M1: The hag. ⁓ the Huntsman. Snow White's enchanted wish or something like that. M2: Yes, and this will sort of set the scene of like Disney doing things that are scary and then being like oops and then sort of like reverting back a little bit so. M1: So like another example of that is before Stitches Great Escape, which RIP, but before Stitches Great Escape, there was a ride there called Extra-Terrorrestrial Encounter, which was basically Michael Eisner had the idea to make a ride or an attraction based off of the movie Alien. Then they couldn't get the rights to Alien, but they decided to like do an alien thing anyways. So they made up their own alien. M2: Yes. M1: and created this extra terrorestrial. And it was basically, think Stitch's Great Escape, but rather than Stitch coming in, this like insane alien came in and it didn't have Stitch's, know, humor, whether you liked his humor or not, of him like burping in your face and stuff like that. It was all meant to be very, very realistic and scary, you know, with the lights going out. Yes. Yeah, they tested it. M2: Wasn't it so scary that they tested it and then dumbed it down a little? M1: then they had to dumb it down. All of that, it had a lot of problems. Like all of the sort of testing and reiterating led to it kind of being like a choppy plot. Like it wasn't, it didn't apparently flow that well, but apparently, but anyways, the ride ultimately ended up being way too scary. Like it did not work at all for families. And Disney at the end of the day is a family friendly park. Magic Kingdom is. M2: Apparently. M1: certainly a family-friendly park and we're going to talk about that later, but in general Disney's thing is family. So having a ride that like terrified children just like didn't really make sense. M2: Yeah, I'll give a quick quick two more that we're at Disney World, but then I want to talk internationally because that's where things get a little different. There was a villains dance party at one point. There was the villains in Vogue store at Hollywood Studios. That store was amazing. I wish they would bring that back real. It's now called Real Vogue. It's like it's on Sunset Boulevard. ⁓ M1: Ugh, me too. Me too. They have the new villain show at Hollywood Studios. M2: They do. And they also have the villains, the lounge at the top of Bay Lake Tower, which like I have a lot to say about that and potentially we've never been. It seems like it's odd. M1: Alright. No, but those, yeah, those things that we just mentioned, and of course, like at Halloween, they feature the villains and stuff, but all of those examples of the villains feature the villains in kind of like a fun, almost like campy way, especially the new Hollywood show. Like the villains are not scary in that at all. They're not meant to be scary. M2: Yeah, they're not. But there were there are basically two examples of kind of like super scary things internationally that are super clear. First off, this was at Tokyo Disney. It was called the Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour. This gives me the ultimate keys to no, not keys to the Kingdom Keepers, the book series. Do you remember that book series? M1: Yeah, if you don't know what Kingdom Keepers was, it was a was a fictional, of course, book series where basically like at night characters were coming alive in the Disney parks, the villains were going to take over and this group of kids had to like save them. It's really good, yeah. M2: It's actually an amazing series of books. It's really good. Even read them as an adult. But if you're even you have like tweens teens, read it out. So good. But the Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour was at Tokyo Disney, and it basically brought you on this entire kind of story where you were like talking to the magic mirror and there would be a villain and you'd be fighting things. And then eventually one guest would get chosen to basically save the day. It was terrifying. It was so terrifying that they actually ended up taking it away. At Disney World, we don't have anything like that. We never did. Even though the castles are the same, we never had something like that. Do you want to talk about the Disneyland Paris one? M1: Then in Disneyland Paris, underneath the Disneyland Paris castle, you can see a dragon that lives there. It's in a cave, it's very dark, and there's the dragon that will like, it's a giant animatronic, it will like lift its head up and move and blow steam and stuff like that. I will say, this one I don't think is like petrifying. I'm sure as like a little kid, it might be like kind of scary, but in general, it's more like. M2: I agree. M1: cool and the vibe is kind of like, I don't know, kind of like steampunk sort of spooky... ⁓ the dragon gives me steampunk. Look him up guys, tell me what you think, but to me... M2: I wouldn't give that dragon steampunk. He's green. He's green. He's not steampunk. He couldn't. Okay, forget everything you heard. has nothing to do with steampunk. ⁓ I don't think he's. M1: Sort of think of Steampunk Dragon, but he's not like super super scary. He's not like... he doesn't seem evil though. He's not like jumping and lashing out. M2: I mean, he's... No, no. He's, no, he's coming at you. He's scary and evil. ⁓ There was actually supposed to be a dragon at Disney World, also similar in Beastly Kingdom. All this to say though, the presence of villains at Disney has sort of always been like somewhat fleeting, like little things here and here. And when you think of kind of some of the like iconic sets of characters or the iconic like Disney franchises within the franchises, Okay, obviously like Mickey the Fab Five, Sensational Six, you know, all of them, that's one. Disney Princesses, that's another. And then Disney Villains. And I feel like the Disney Princesses versus like the Disney Villains and the Princesses have so, so clearly just have way more representation and the villains have always been more niche, would you say? M1: Yeah, for sure. M2: Yeah, and so Disney has never really found that like permanent villains type thing again. They've had some stuff in their park, but Disney's not in the market of like basically of trying to frighten their right and their guests. Unlike Universal who is? M1: Yeah, so Universal has multiple things. Again, Universal is a more adult oriented park, especially prior to the opening of Epic Universe. And so one of their most successful things is Halloween Horror Nights, which if you don't know, they do every Halloween season, you know, like August to October, where they have all of these different haunted houses themed after different scary movies, pop culture things, whatever. And you like walk through the haunted houses. There's there's. scare actors walking around. It's supposed to be like petrifying. Like people like pee in their pants. They're so scared. So, Mouselette, Mouselette too and I would never ever, ever go. Like the point is for adults to be legitimately frightened. Disney would never ever, ever do something like that, ever. M2: you That's my worst nightmare. would never. That's why it's literally Mickey's not so scary Halloween party. ⁓ then Universal also, again, Universal is just more geared towards adults, I would say. But at Epic Universe, they have four portals and one of them is Dark Kingdom. Is that what it's called? M1: Yeah, Dark Kingdom. Dark Universe. M2: That's weird, because... No. Is it Dark Universe? No, I think it's Dark Kingdom. M1: I it's called Dark Universe. No, Dark Kingdom maybe. Okay. M2: It is called Dark Universe. OK, great. Dark Universe. Dark Universe is like a Frankenstein. We've never been to Epic Universe. OK, it's like a Frankenstein themed from the experiments of Victoria Frankenstein to a twisted landscape where monsters roam. Dark Universe is a grim world of myth and mystery at Universal's Epic Universe. ⁓ It's spooky, it's scary, but it's not like terrify you, but it is a very, I would say, adult oriented like. As kids, we would have been terrified. Which brings me to the example after we talked Rainforest Cafe that you used to take the chicken door in the Haunted Mansion because as a kid, you were terrified. And the thing that Disney has that's the scariest, I would say, is the Haunted Mansion. M1: Or Tower of Terror, probably. M2: Sure, I feel like the Haunted Mansion is scarier than the Tower of Terror though. M1: Yeah, those two things. like even those, I mean, those are not scary in any actual sense. know, spooky vibes, but like they're not truly scary. And so I think as we sort of now go into our discussion about the Villains Land, it's very interesting to think about how Disney is going to position this. They know that people love the villains. People love Disney villains. Disney villains, for the most part, in my opinion, in the movies, a lot of them aren't like truly scary. There are a couple Frollo, terrifying. M2: I knew you were gonna say Frollo. You're so... M1: You know how you you know how I feel about Frollo. As a kid the hag like petrified me. Okay, Snoops couldn't be less scary. Snoops is literally like he's like the funny comic relief of that movie. Nobody probably even knows who Snoops is from The Rescuers, which we'll get into. ⁓ god. M2: Snoops. Snoops. He's not he's not funny. No, he's not funny Okay, I need to wait We were raised Catholic, okay? So we went to like CCD, religious education, whatever you wanna call it. We learned all about that stuff. We learned about God, we learned about the devil. In my mind, the devil was snoops. I pictured. M1: one would ask why. In my mind, the devil was the Tasmanian devil, which makes sense because his name was the Tasmanian devil. Yes, you do, from Pugs Bunny, you do. M2: The devil's the Tasmanian devil. No. Don't even know what the Tasmanian Devil is, okay? Like, do you have like, walk like, it's like this, like walk like that. Okay, yeah. In my mind, Snoops was the devil. I pictured the devil, I pictured going there, I pictured Snoops. M1: He's like brown and kind of like up on a tail. Yeah. ⁓ Which is so insane against Nips as a comic relief character. But anyways, the villains like people love the villains. They're not always that scary, but there are some and you know, whatever, especially in some of the older movies. But it's interesting to think about how Disney is going to thread the line of the fact that they are a family friendly park, Magic Kingdom, especially, but trying to now make this very different themed Lin their first like dark. land. M2: And so let's get into what the actual land would be. And kind of as a caveat here, you know, we don't actually know what exactly this land would have because it's really just been concept art and you know, rumors and things. So we want to talk about the original concept of what we know from what we've seen from the D23 type things. Again, Disney does concept art and many times the area ends up looking very, very different. Not always, but like. things evolve, New Fantasyland is like the perfect example of that. They didn't even have the Seven Orbs Mine Train roller coaster to begin with. So things really, really evolve. the original concept was the fact that this land was going to be centered around Maleficent. Maleficent! And so her castle would exist, the Maleficent Castle. ⁓ wouldn't be probably like a full-size castle, right? Not like Cinderella Castle. M1: The life has Maybe he'd be as amazing as the Beast's Castle! M2: It gives me scat-el energy. It's up on like a rocky structure, right? That's how they showed it. They showed the Raven, Maleficent's Raven there. They showed all of this intricate rock work, a little like villainous village, and then a Maleficent roller coaster. So that's one of the things we could very blatantly see in the concept art. A scary looking, almost gives like Hagrid's, which you've never written, ⁓ my God, kind of gives Hagrid's roller coaster energy. That's kind of the concept of what came with it. Now, we also have now since learned about another thing that was gonna come. So why don't you talk about that even though it's not totally confirmed. M1: This is supposed, and I have to say, if this was actually planned, number one, I would be, I'm devastated if it's no longer the case, but number two, I would honestly be sort of shocked because this villain is like, I have to think one of the more obscure villains, because speaking of snoops, snoops is, snoops is, what would you call her? Not psychic, whatever. The other half to snoops, his mistress, the other half to snoops, Madame Medusa. M2: His best, his mistress. M1: who if you don't know who that is again, she's the villain from the rescuers. There apparently was going to be a Madame Medusa dinner show, which would have been like the old Diamond Horseshoe at Magic Kingdom. The Diamond Horseshoe used to have a dinner show that was happening during it. ⁓ M2: ⁓ If you don't know what the diamond horseshoe is, it's probably because it's been shuttered for like many years. Last time we went there was 2018, hashtag 2018 lore. But it does have a stage and it has an upper story. And yeah, it used to be a dinner show when it was an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom. M1: so yes it would have been themed around Madame Medusa. Now again this is a rumor this was not confirmed. I find it hard to believe just because Medusa is such a random villain. M2: I think that this really ties into what we're going to get into about the concepts and then like a larger discussion we have to have after. Of what direction they're going with this, that would have been so cool. I just see them doing something kind of cookie cutter before we get into the changes, right? Because like then we can talk about what the dinner show pros and cons. The other thing we learned about this was that Disney announced that they were going to be using something called like a conjured architecture. So anytime that they're building M1: It would have been iconic. I would have... M2: any sort of new land, I think Animal Kingdom is the prime example of it. The Imagineers go on basically what's called like a research trip and they go wherever like for Animal Kingdom, they went to all these different places in Africa. For this, they went to Barcelona and other places in Europe that have this specific type of architecture and they released kind of like a, ⁓ my God, I almost called it a pick stitch. What the heck, a collage, a pick stitch. M1: Wow. M2: of some of the inspiration things like metal fences wrought iron fences with like spikes on it or What's that thing in? Barcelona Barcelona the Basilica. that I Know I'm just I thought you might know it just from knowing it kind of like the inside of the Disneyland Paris castle like this very specific type of architecture that That looks like it could be villainous right? They're doing something where it's like where would villains live and exist? M1: I've never been there. M2: and that's what they're trying to build. So they kind of released that. I'll put a picture in stories so you can kind of see if you're listening on the day that this releases. But that's really one of the only other things. They went to Paris and Barcelona, Paris, France, Barcelona to learn about the city's architecture and attributes. And they really found some really cool stuff. So we knew that they were going like big with architecture, which I really like. M1: And it also sort of ties into this question, which again, we're gonna have a whole discussion, but like, what villains are being centered here? When Disney tends to lean into their villains, it's Maleficent, it's Jafar. And I have to say, I really don't love Jafar as a villain, but he is everywhere when Disney does villain stuff. He's not my favorite, Jafar, Ursula. M2: I don't mind him, but he is everywhere. M1: So nice Captain Hook and Cruella. Those are kind of like you get those core old school villains then branching out a little bit from there you'll have like Hades and stuff. But then there's obviously tons of villains. There's like Mother Gothel who's a very iconic villain I would say, but a newer one. There's random villains like Medusa or Madame Mim. Anyway, so it all ties back to like they have to focus on one theme for the land, one vibe. That is the vibe that Mouse Lit 2 just described. So what villains are they then going to kind of focus on living there? Like Hans, like Prince Hans from Frozen is technically a villain. I don't really see him having a big presence here. I don't think that his vibe fits this vibe that they're going for. M2: Yeah, or like Rattigan. Rattigan wouldn't be necessarily found in this land or even... Well, we're talking niche villains. We're talking niche villains. Lady Tremaine, maybe, but she also is in fantasy land. Frollo, probably too evil to even... Dr. Facilier, maybe, right? I think you missed the Evil Queen. Like she's another one, the Queen of Hearts. Like these are, they're kind of those core villains. And Disney does need to sort of pick the direction that they're going to go in. So... M1: Wow, what a niche villain. Radigan. ⁓ yes. Too scary, too scary. ⁓ ⁓ yeah. M2: They had all these concepts for what was gonna be done. Again, concepts and these things change countless times. But the Disney Imagineers, it was just kind of announced, I guess, that they were told, think bigger, think better, don't think about the budget. That Disney was like, we're gonna do something, this has to be done right. They're adding an entire land to the Magic Kingdom. And I know that that doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but if you think about it, New Fantasyland and Storybook Circus, were really like an expansion, right? This is a really, really big deal. They added a Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland, but Magic Kingdom hasn't really received this new type of land. They really have to do it right, especially something like this. M1: And like Magic Kingdom up until this point has been the hub and spoke going to Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Liberty Square. Okay. But like it's been the core lands that have been in every castle park basically forever. This is completely going off from that. So they need to get it right. And it's really refreshing to hear that Disney isn't focusing on budget constraints. That's not really what we've heard, you know, for many, many years leading up till this point. M2: something totally unique, like, yeah. for like a decade now almost. M1: So the other thing is that when we were talking about Epic Universe, Epic Universe has Dark, Dark Universe, which is, you know, adults, more adult, more scary. But they also have Isle of Berk, which is the how to train your dragon land, which is focused on, of course, dragons and like, I don't know, I've never admittedly seen that movie, but like. M2: It's very like thematically well done. It looks kind of gives sort of like Norwegian vibes Viking. That's probably Viking dragon. It's big theme. It's very immersively themed, I would say, just like from seeing videos. M1: Vikinga. Yes, it's very immersively themed and it's more family friendly within that theme. M2: smaller roller coaster that like anyone can do. I think it has a bigger one too, it has like a show that's, yeah, it's just much more family friendly. And so here is kind of the tea guys, the rap, a rumor, which I was about to say, rumor alert, the rap, which is an internet website or something, publication, an online publication, whatever. The rap has released this sort of like huge, M1: Rumored T. This is rumor. Rumor alert, rumor alert. publication, I guess. I don't even know what that is, M2: set of rumors. They have a source. I would say I don't think that they just made this up. I think that this is grounded in someone who's there. And I do believe that these are all ideas that Disney has had. Grain of salt though. Take all of this with a grain of salt because again, ideas change time and time and time again. But M1: Yes. Yeah, even if right now everything in this article is true, it could easily change just because things change. And the things in this article could be outdated, couldn't be, just, know, grain of salt, grain of salt. But it is interesting to discuss. M2: Like we were told by an Imagineer specifically that a Zootopia land was coming to Animal Kingdom. An Imagineer who like we know sort of specifically told us that. And guess what? Something Zootopia came but not that land, right? So like again, I bet that they were telling the truth. So here's what the rap says. Let's, should we say all of it and then discuss or should we go one by one? M1: Yep. Let's go one by one. M2: Okay, biggest thing, the Maleficent roller coaster is eliminated. Okay, she's gonna get something new, we'll talk about in a second. But instead of that, we are getting supposedly an Emperor's New Groove, like pull the lever, Cronk roller coaster. If you've never seen the Emperor's New Groove, there's an entire scene with Yzma and Cronk riding this incredible indoor roller coaster. ⁓ It seems like an amazing concept. I've always wanted this to be a roller coaster. People, the rep, saying that it's more family friendly, more of like a slinky dog dash type roller coaster. All right. M1: I think again, Yzma as a villain. Yzma as a villain is inherently really not scary at all. She is the definition of a classic like Disney sort of kooky, campy, silly, yeah, silly villain. And so in terms of that, makes sense. However, again, Yzma is not one of their core villains at all. Yzma- M2: Silly, kooky, yeah camp, very camp. You like have met, she's in the parks once every like five years, maybe at like special events. She's never around. M1: yet. she's never around, she's not featured on stuff, she she doesn't really make sense to me so much in that like sort of architectural style that we were talking about. She just feels random. How many young kids, current young kids have seen The Emperor's New Groove? Like it's sort of a more niche movie, it's not one of Disney's core, yeah. M2: Yeah, it's a little more camp. It's not a classic. I do think that this roller coaster is a great idea. But again, like, there has to be a story when you enter this land. Like there is in every new land. In Andy's backyard, you're in Andy's backyard, right? Like you're shrunken down to the size of the toy. In Monstropolis, you're entering that. Like there's gonna be some sort of story. There's not gonna, I hope, just be like a bunch of random villain stuff. I think that I have a hard time believing that they would take this intellectual property that is just not that popular, Emperor's New Groove, and build this. M1: I cannot picture this being real, like coming to fruition. I'm sure it was a real concept discussed, coming to fruition. It feels, I would love it. I would, as a person who loves Yzma, yeah, would love it. But I don't think that this has broad generational appeal in terms of a theme, a family-friendly coaster, sure. An Yzma coaster, feels like so many people would be like, who? M2: Same as a millennial. Yeah, like and I don't know if I think of a villain right like a roller coaster for me isn't just like typically it's not themed that much right so like I don't know how like how they would be telling a story with a roller coaster of a villain like M1: Yeah. and what you're entering, you're going into Yzma's lab. Like you're in this sort of architectural style. Yeah. And then you enter Kronk's castle and you take a thing down to, or not Kronk's castle, Kuzco's castle. Kronk's castle. You enter Kuzco's castle and then you are going down to her lair. Like that doesn't make any sense. M2: Right. Villains land and you- Kronx Kronx Kronx Castle. Is what doesn't have a castle also. I'm just confused by it. So that's what they said about goodbye Maleficent roller coaster. Now the reason the rap and people are saying that this is done is because that Maleficent coaster was supposed to be sort of the headlining attraction of the land. But supposedly Disney wants to sell individual lightning lanes for that headlining attraction, single pass, whatever. And so because of like the weather when that would be closed, that's kind of a recipe for disaster, right? They have to refund them. So instead they want to have that headlining attraction be indoors. Melissa wanted, I discussed this briefly. She kind of brought up a point. She's like, rise of the resistance goes down all the time. I bet that they've learned from that. They must have like such a headache potentially. Like I could see them having such a headache with everyone trying to get a refund. Anytime that ride goes down that maybe, I don't know, maybe they are doing that. M1: Yeah, it- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is an outdoor roller coaster that's an on single pass. M2: Yeah, I think that that's like maybe a stretch I also think the next thing is also weird the rap says that instead of Maleficent getting a roller coaster She will still be the kind of the center of the land, right? she will get a dark ride a water ride based on the Pirates of the Caribbean technology in Shanghai Disney if you don't know that ride M1: Yeah. M2: Our Pirates could not be more different. It is high tech. It uses screens in like an incredibly effective way. It is like the absolute top tier most immersive ride. OK, so why would Maleficent have a boat ride? You're in the moat of her castle like I guess I can kind of see it. I think that that ride would be absolutely terrifying. I can't imagine a kid would go on that because in a villains land that gets back to keys to the kingdom. ⁓ my God, Kingdom Keepers. M1: It's supposed to be amazing. Yeah, it feels really random. M2: In a Villains land, like, are the villains winning? Okay, Snow White's scary adventure, Snow White is winning. Mr. Toad's wild ride. You all go to hell, so it doesn't count. But like Pinocchio, Pinocchio, they all win, right? Like, Geppetto comes out at the end. In a Villains land, is Maleficent winning? M1: Well... Like what story is being told? The story of Sleeping Beauty or maybe the story of the live action Maleficent where Maleficent like is, I don't know, but she's not evil. I don't know. Yeah, it's hard. Like a dark ride is a challenge because what's who's the hero? How does it have a happy ending? M2: Like I could see a Hades underworld dark ride because Hades is sort of silly, but like a Maleficent dark ride in a boat to me feels terrifying and also random. I don't know. M1: Yeah, yeah, the boat part, the boat part is random. M2: Okay, third thing, an Ursula spinner. M1: They apparently designed an Ursula spinner for DCA back years ago. And so this would be resurrecting it. I wouldn't be surprised if this land has a spinner, like even though there's already Dumbo in Magic Kingdom, so two. M2: years back. and the magic carpets and the astro orbiter. M1: Right. Yeah, you're right. have a lot of spinners already, but like whatever. It's a family friendly park. They love spinners. It's like an easy thing to throw in. It's like an additional attraction. M2: I think that they do need to build out more like CBA ticket attractions in these things. M1: They do. They need to have like low, you know, interactions that aren't super. M2: Not everything can be the number one e-ticket ride, you know? M1: I would like to see them do something perhaps a little bit more creative, like Alien Swirling Saucers is a great example of like a lower tier ride that's like not a spinner. Like I would love to see them do something like slightly more creative, not just like a spinner, but I wouldn't be surprised. M2: but it's also like an Ursula spinner. Ursula's already featured in the Little Mermaid ride. Do we need an additional Little Mermaid ride? like, I get it because it seems to be set up, but I'm just like, I don't know, an Ursula spinner and it's not a water ride? M1: Ursula is one of those villains that I feel like I've been beat over the head with. Like I actually like Ursula as a villain, but I'm just like, Ursula's everywhere. Too much Ursula. M2: And she's going to be like a big plastic spinner with like her you're riding on her tentacles. I don't know. To me, it feels. It feels a little bit like not of the theme, so. M1: That would look, that would look cheesy. Again, yeah, what's the theme of the land, you know? M2: But I guess like Adventureland, for example, that has the magic carpet, you can tell it's a spinner. You don't think you're actually on a magic carpet, it just kind of fits. Or like even Dumbo, like there's like 25 Dumbo's, right? Since when are there that many Dumbo's? M1: What? It's interesting because for the last whatever number of years, all the lands we've gotten have been this like unbelievably deep story theme. Pandora, Galaxy's Edge, even Andy's backyard. Yeah, it's been all about like a single cohesive story theme. Magic Kingdom lands traditionally aren't like that. Maybe Villain's Land is going back to being like, like New Fantasyland. Like this is where you're. M2: I just did a deep dive on YouTube on this. If you guys want to watch it, it was a true look. Like tropical Americas. M1: Yeah, you're roaming and meeting villains, but like lots of different things are happening. Maybe it will be like that. Honestly, I would, I think that would be fine. Yeah. But like a big plastic Ursulo like tentacle spinner. ⁓ M2: I support that. Yeah. Meh, don't love that. ⁓ Yeah, I think they need a third smaller ride, but I don't know that that doesn't give. OK, last thing. M1: ⁓ instead of the Medusa dinner show, which again, was that ever real? I cannot fathom that it was. It would be a dinner show hosted by Hades and then Pain and Panic. I think that this is more plausible than the Medusa one. Hades is like, again, not their top tier of villains to me, but like second tier, I would say. He's like fairly used and popular. And like Hades is funny, Pain and Panic are funny. I could see it. M2: Alleged. Yeah. M1: I wouldn't hate it, it would be interesting. M2: could see it like the muses the vibe of it I feel like if you guys have been into the mythos restaurant at Isles of Adventure I can kind of see that gives like underworld vibes like I can see them I could see this being effective ⁓ M1: feel like we watch every single Disney movie I feel like that existed growing up. One of like two that we didn't watch. M2: Three, four, ⁓ that scared me. M1: One was Hercules. For some reason we just didn't own Hercules. We never really saw it. Fox and the Hound. I watched, I watched Oliver and Company. ⁓ yeah. But so I don't, I feel like I don't know Hades that well. I'm always like, right, random Hades. Cause we didn't really watch Hercules, but I do think that Hades is like a popular one. It would, it makes more sense than Medusa. Although I would prefer Medusa. M2: We watch Hercules, Fox and the Hound, Oliver and company. There was one more. Loretta again, a great mouse detective. I yeah, I don't even think he I mean when was the last time you saw like Magara and Hercules in the park? They're not around very often. So I still think it's Marvel level two. All right, so we have some discussion questions, but first on Instagram stories I asked you guys like what do you think and I've sort of Grouped sort of some of the major comments or we got a lot of responses, but some of the major comments together So we'll alternate reading them out loud and then we can kind of discuss Okay, Magic Kingdom doesn't need another spinner ride. I get it M1: great. I'm first new groove roller coasters great. Again, I think like for our millennial loving Disney loving hearts, that is a great theme. It would be so cool to come to fruition. Does it actually make sense in a land like this? I don't know. M2: Okay, why Maleficent for the boat ride? Yeah, it's interesting. Ursula. Yeah. M1: If you're gonna do a boat ride, why not maybe Ursula? Family-friendly, lots of pros, lots of cons. Again, I think that people, everybody knows it has to be family-friendly and in a way that leans into more of that like kitschy kooky side of the villains, but like, I don't know, tough balance. M2: feel like a lot of people were saying like they kind of took something that seemed really frightening with Maleficent and now they're making it more family friendly. They're making more Isle of Berk, right? That's what they're doing. We'll talk about that in a minute, but I kind of get it. Okay, a question. said, will there be meet and greets? I hope that there'll be a lot of villains milling around. I hope so. M1: It feels like it'd be a huge missed opportunity. Do you remember when Gaston used to meet over by his tavern? Yeah, they took that away after COVID, but I feel like that was such a popular meet and greet because you really don't get to meet the villains that much. And the villains like we, one of our favorite characters to meet is Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters because they give such different energy than every other face character. Every other face. Yeah, every other face character is being like, ⁓ my goodness, they're like, they're the whole thing is like being sweet and stuff. M2: I don't get why he doesn't anymore. They're silly, they're funny, they joke around. M1: when those characters are much more like goofy and yeah, like crazy, cause that's what they're being rather than scary, which I love. I think they, I mean, maybe they'll move the domains there, but like they should bring Gaston back, Maleficent, Evil Queen, Cruella, like that would be amazing. M2: I don't even know if they would move Lady Trimini in them because I feel like they fit very well in Fantasyland. okay, two more. You're next. M1: I know, ⁓ somebody said, well, people said that they, yeah, that they hate it because they feel like they've stripped it down. I will say basically, if you compare any land that is built to the very original concept art that's shown, it's stripped down always because the very original concept art is like when they're really still defining things and they're just like, you know, showing like the biggest possible thing. I think it's still going to be amazing. M2: Both butch people. Yeah. Yep. And then last thing disappointed the roller coaster is more similar to slinky now and not a thrill ride. That's something the rap said that the roller coaster will be more family friendly, more of a seven doors, my train, less of a tron. There's already a tron in the park. It's Magic Kingdom. I kind of get it. All right. Me and also one of generated some discussion questions. I feel like we have a lot to talk about. I think one of the biggest things is like so the villains they're featuring supposedly as of now are Hades. Potentially the dinner show could have other villains, too, but Hades. Ursula, Maleficent and Yzma. Really, really interesting group. So if you could choose three villains, I guess it should be four, fine. Four villains, because that's what they have. Four villains, who would you choose? And I think we have to break this out by like, who would you choose knowing what they should probably choose? Because it's like who people care about and then who would you choose yourself? M1: So random. Yeah, mean, who I would choose myself would be completely different than who they should choose. Who I would choose myself would be Medusa, Madame Mim. Yzma and maybe like Cruella. M2: Okay, excuse me, I literally just wrote those four names in the spreadsheet. Did you read them out loud? M1: No, literally no. ⁓ M2: I wrote Yzma, Medusa, Cruella, and Madame Min. M1: There you go. Like ladies. M2: the the gals. ⁓ But I also like, think those are like my niche ones, but I would love, I think Maleficent is a must. I think you have to have Maleficent. I think the Evil Queen is also a must. M1: Yeah, I would personally love to see like, so again, Jafar is personally not my favorite villain. And I think we are sort of beat over the head with Ursula. She's just like to me everywhere. I would love to see less of them and more of like, still the tier one villains in my opinion. But yeah, like Evil Queen, Cruella, Captain Hook maybe. I just had another one in mind too. ⁓ Queen of Hearts. Like, I feel like they're like. M2: Queen of Hearts doesn't fit as much for me, but I think Dr. Facilier to me is interesting. M1: I feel like Dr. Facilier will definitely be there. I just, I don't know. He's got a vibe that I feel like he'll be there. M2: Yeah, I think Dr. Faciliate Hopper potentially. Dr. Faciliate. Like, I think that whichever direction they choose, to me, it will be interesting to see how they meld like a random villain with like these more classics. And I just think like for Disney, the game, in my opinion, is just to not play it safe, but like just too Maleficent, just too Evil Queen. Like, I would love a Medusa dinner show. M1: Okay, I don't think so. M2: I like that would be my ultimate goal, but like a Hades dinner show is just going to do better. You know, a Medusa dinner show would be so cool. I'm just like. I'm just surprised they would ever consider that. Maybe they want to reuse the riverboat. I'm just surprised. I'm shocked that they would literally ever consider something like that. M1: I am too. I think that the top three villains that are like everywhere to me are Maleficent, Ursula, and Jafar. And I would just, ⁓ my God, Jafar, I would just love to not be like bashed over the head with those three. I would honestly, I would love to have them excluded entirely from the land. Do a land without, I know that she's going to be included in the land, but I would love for her to not be included in the land. M2: I don't have that same feeling about Jafar at all. I don't think I Do you Maleficent not included in this land? I think she is like the villain of all villains. I want Charonabog in this land. M1: Ach. at Frola? Do you Frola? Another movie we never saw actually, The Black Cauldron. M2: Well, the horned horned king. ⁓ I'm very curious to see kind of how they choose the villains. think right now in both these concepts, there's a really intriguing mix. And I just think that Disney is just going to go with the basics that they know are sure winners. M1: I'm going to be bopped over the head with Maleficent Shafar in Ursula. I know it. It's OK. M2: I don't feel that with Jafar at all. I think he's niche. I never see Jafar. Other than Disneyland Paris, he's never around. He's never, ever around. Ursula is everywhere. There's a lot of Little Mermaid stuff. OK, what park should this be in? Magic Kingdom. Yeah, I think it's the exact right place for it. So. M1: Oh my gosh, he's always around. He's always around. She's being whacked over the head with Jafar. I get it. Magic cake, yeah, for sure. And should it be scary? Okay, should it be scary or family friendly? I'm gonna change the word scary to like dark, not necessarily like true scary, like extraterrestrial, but should it be dark or should it be like the villain show at Hollywood studios right now, which is like a sort of kooky, kitschy villains vibe? I think it should be dark. M2: Yeah. I think it should be Disneyland Paris, the castle, you go in there and you're... It's not steampunk, you go in this beautiful castle, okay? And it kind of gives, it's almost like Cinderella castle meets like new fantasy land meets whatever, like kind of some classic stuff. It just has this vibe that you feel like you're in. I think it should be fantasy land, but dark basically, except our fantasy land kind of... M1: Steampunk. ⁓ M2: stinks but like I think it should be that vibe but I don't think it should be so scary that like when you're walking around in it that kids will be like terrified I don't think they can I think in that regard that doesn't make sense for Magic Kingdom it is the park for families kids need to be able to walk around in it and not feel scared out of their freaking minds M1: No, I don't think it should be scary. I think it should be spooky and dark in like a, in a family friendly way. And I think Imagineers have the ability to thread that line perfectly if they do it right. Because yeah, it should be like you're going from fantasy land and you're entering the dark version of fantasy land. But it shouldn't be like frightening. It should be like, Ooh my gosh, like spooky. No. M2: It shouldn't be Snow White's scary adventures. Yeah, it should just be like, oh, instead of Cinderella Castle, like, wow, I mean, like this is almost like the villains, but they're not doing like an evil act. It's just like, who is Maleficent kind of behind the curtain? It like kind of needs to be that a little bit to me, like humanizing them a little. All right. What inspo would you use? We kind of talked on that. I would say Disneyland Paris. I don't want it to be scary. I think the biggest thing for me when I think of what I fear. I fear that Disney will mess this lined up. I think that's as basic as I can kind of put it. I am worried that Disney will mess this up. I think this is like a huge opportunity. I think there's so much riding on it and I'm worried that they're just gonna make something just kind of like a like cookie cutter and it's just like, ugh, I don't know. Thoughts? M1: Yeah, I mean, I'm mostly worried that I think the villains that they select to feature are going to be so critical. And I don't know, I don't want them to go to niche. M2: How do you do a ride, a dark ride, like a rise of the resistance level, e-ticket, dark ride, that doesn't scare the crap out of people? I have no idea. I mean, I guess Pirates is kind of scary. M1: Yeah, I don't know. Oof, yawning. But like, yeah, I guess, but it's not really... M2: I think the biggest thing about all of this is that, yes, the rap has leaked these things. I do believe that Disney's evaluated all of these. I I bet Disney's evaluated riding on Dr. Facilier's hat upside down on a spinner. Like, I bet every idea has been thrown out. There's no, nothing saying that these things are real. In fact, I think it's possible that we'll get none of them. I think we'll get a roller coaster. I think we'll get a dark ride. I think we'll get a third ride. I think we might get a dinner show, but I bet we get none of these potentially. ⁓ The land will not open likely until, they said 2029, I think 2030. Just like knowing how long construction takes, their site is cleared, but they have to build this entire thing out. It's already 26. I mean, they're not gonna have anything through design for at least. M1: Yeah. ⁓ They're doing piston peak first. We'll get piston peak first. Villains land will come after. M2: Yeah. I think we're about four years away. People said 29, I think 2030, 2031. This is a ways out and I just, things will change time and time again. I think we'll get more details at D23. I bet they'll announce at least one thing. I don't know. The biggest thing for me is will they do that on Bird's Groove roller coaster? And I just don't know if they will. M1: Yeah, I think so too. I don't think they will. I don't think they will. I also am very curious what they're gonna... So we know that we'll most likely have the Maleficent's castle like focal point, but I just wonder what other things we'll see. I don't know how else to describe it, but like what other... M2: I hope this land has depth. have a lot of hopes for this land and it's kind of insane. We have to wait for four or five years. That's your little recap on Villains land though. ⁓ Hopefully we hear more D23. I assume we will so that'll be in August. So a lot of time to wait. We likely won't hear too much before then. So let us know what you think. Leave us a comment. Very curious, but we're going to get into our special segment, which is just a story that we've gotten so many requests to tell and it's some true. M1: Me too. Is we're getting it? M2: and it's when we won an all-expense paid trip to Disney. Now, can I just say to you, M1, you own some things, I own other things, this is like mine entirely, do you agree? Because you didn't have anything to do with it. You didn't have anything to do with it because you didn't want me to enter this contest. M1: You like think that you own this? Well, I didn't. Okay, here's the thing, guys. An author reached out to us. She had written a book, which was, it was not a Disney book, but it was like magical, you know? And so, yeah. And so she thought that in order to promote the book, ⁓ a good thing to do would be to run a contest where the winning thing would be sending people to Disney World. And so she, the contest was a photo contest on Instagram. Remember, this was 2018. M2: Kind of like Harry Potter world, but not. M1: Wait, play your new sound bit. This was 2018. This was pre reels or anything like that on Instagram. Yeah. So it was a photo contest where whoever posted the best photo, which was basically like the most magical photo would win a trip to Disney World. Yes, and she was going to send her book to some creators and have them kind of promote the book and promote the contest. M2: I don't even think you can post videos on Instagram yet, to be honest. I'm not sure. built around the world of her book. Also. There was no such thing even as like creators back then. There were like we had five thousand, ten thousand followers like. M1: Yeah, I mean, 10,000 followers maybe. She sent us the book, though. And so we were one of those accounts that was... No, I'm not. It just was like, OK, we were one of the accounts that was posting the book and promoting the contest. M2: You're making this sound like it was rigged. Okay, sure. I said, again, this is the beginning of 2018. We had had the mouse for like eight months. I said, I wanna enter this contest because I... M1: said I think that would be inappropriate as one of the people promoting it. M2: So we're not even promoting it. She sent us a book. I want to find promoting it. Why not enter? Mouselet one was like, nope, nope. So I was like, whatever. I'm entering this contest. OK, I have to tell you this story, guys, of what occurred when I was doing this. It just me and mama Mouselet trying to do this. M1: I was living in New York City. Mouselet too was in our parents' basement. M2: Okay, I was living elsewhere as well. To be clear, I was also living somewhere else. I was living in Boston. M1: Well, nope, you were in college. So you must've been home for winter break or something. M2: Was I in college? I was in college. I forgot actually. was home for whatever. I was home in Connecticut from college. set up, luckily, Mels at 3R Brother was like very into like theater and had all sorts of bizarre props. So I set up these like black curtains we had. And then I got all of these old books and like books and wizarding books and weird crap we had. M1: And Mama Mouse is running around the house grabbing dried plants. M2: potion bottles and like, yeah, anything kind of like building out like a wizarding type world basically think of. Then I covered the ground with Christmas lights and this like cheese cloth, but not at all. What's like the, yeah, like gauzy material. Okay, then Mama Mouselet, and I'm reading the book. I'm sitting there reading the book. Then Mama Mouselet is like, how about a little Le Jeune de Sequa? She brings out a bunch of candles. M1: like gauzy material. M2: She's lighting them all around me, but like this like gauzy cheesecloth is there so we're like we're scaring us at the basement on fire She's trying to take a picture of me. You know a bunch of pictures of me. She starts having back spasms She's like kneeling down screaming and I'm like stop moving you're gonna block the candles over She's like screaming her head out her heart out. Whatever. She's so She's like yelling we get the picture. I'm looking we get a bunch. I'm like editing it back I was in my Photoshop era if you know, you know M1: Mouseletoo, ⁓ yeah, if you know you know that sub. In 2018, Mouseletoo went through a big Photoshop era, guys. It was just very convenient for this contest. M2: Yeah. And I'm looking and I'm like, what is this missing? So who do I reach out to? Mouselet3's now ex-boyfriend who was a set designer in college still. And I'm like, what does this need? And he's like, what about a big purple lightning bolt? And I was like, yes. So I added it, going from the book. M1: going into the book. to just, again, to set the scene, this is a photo. Mausoleu is sitting there reading the book with a giant purple lightning bolt coming down into the book and surrounded by candles and books and witchy materials, whatever, in a very dark sort of moody photo. M2: Putting it in Instagram. I'll put it in Instagram stories. Okay, so Okay, wait, I want to read what she said. Where did that get sent to me recently? It was in our group message. No, no. All right, guys, because here's the story. All right, here's the story. I won the all expense paid giveaway. Okay, I won the all expense paid trip. Actually, you what's sort of sick is that I didn't clean up any of that stuff. I left it all for Pamela. Okay, this is what the author said. I can't believe I'm finally announcing the winner to my favorite giveaway ever. M1: You posted it. ⁓ Miles Ladea sent it. You M2: Disney has hashtag inspired me in so many ways, especially the hashtag dream and hashtag imagine big time. I'm looking forward to sharing the Disney hashtag inspo with one of you. Thank you so much to everyone who entered. I was blown away by the hashtag creativity involved in every one of your photos. Each entry was uniquely beautiful and hashtag magical. It was almost impossible to choose a winner, but something about that lightning bolt seared to my brain and stuck with me the whole way through. The winner is the mouse slits. M1: Thank you to Melsith3's ex-boyfriend for that lightning bolt suggestion. There it is, guys. M2: If you're watching on video, I'm gonna put it in stories though. I want, okay, here's what's in the picture. A bunch of old books, a lantern, a bunch of candles lit everywhere. ⁓ a fake cauldron that we had that we stuffed with fairy lights as well. ⁓ Yeah, dry plants. ⁓ an old newspaper. A lot of random things. So I won this all expense paid trip, okay, which is insane. And we got free airfare, free hotel, free tickets and transportation to and from the airport. ⁓ Yeah, it was we flew spirit with flu spirit, which like various can be choosers flu spirit the transportation I remember being confusing. We brought our mom and her friend because we were like free hotel and like they got I guess they just got ticket. They just must have paid for tickets. We went in September and that was. M1: It was insane. It was like the first, you know, we flew spirit. No, because we had our annual passes, so I think they used the tickets. M2: ⁓ they use the tickets, you're right. And then we went to, so we stayed at Pop Century and we went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party for the first time ever. I dressed as Isma, you dressed as Cruella. M1: ⁓ my god, this is some real... ⁓ my god, the stupid sound isn't working. Here we go. I have a vivid memory of Mouselet 2 dressed as Yzma. It was very end of August. It was like Labor Day time. It was 100 million degrees and Mouselet 2 had done all this makeup on her face for Yzma. And there's like somewhere deep in our archives a video of Mouselet 2 at the end of the night talking to the camera and her makeup has completely like melted off of her face running down her face. And like I will never ever, ever forget. how unbelievably hot it was. Our mom's friend was like actually 100 % drenched in sweat. Ursula. M2: She just is or sloth. So it was perfect I also made myself an Esma like little like head thing and I thought she'd do a headband and it was like really top-heavy It was really hard to do and mouse the one tried to get me to attach it to a train conductor hat Which would have been so weird Anyway, we won this all-expense paid trip. Okay Do I think it was rigged? No, because genuinely we were like the smallest presence ever. We didn't have any followers. I Don't know M1: I stand by that. I stand by that. I mean, I don't think it was strange. Like we just. M2: I think she loved my post and you shouldn't even gone on that trip. You know, it actually makes me so sad. The girls I was friends with in college, I remember being so excited I won it and they were mean to me. M1: Why? How? M2: They made fun of me for entering the contest. M1: mean. Here I'll give them a big fat M2: I remember that specifically. That's how I remembered I was in college because I told them and I remember them being like being mean one girl specifically. But guys, we won that trip. It was there was a lot of fun. We had that trip like a lot of things to talk about. Citizen of Hollywood pins like there were so many fun things that happened on that trip. Some true 2018 lore. I won that free trip and no thanks to mouse lit one. She did nothing. M1: Okay, I don't wanna hear things that make me upset. I don't wanna hear things that make me upset. I wasn't home. Okay, moving on to our pit and peach. M2: All right, let's get into our pit and peach of the week. You can start with your pit. M1: My pit, if you're watching a video and you've watched me before, you may notice, may not, but my hair is much blonder than it has been for a while. And I went to the hair salon. This was my first trip out without the miclet. And I went to the hair salon and I showed my stylist a picture of my hair from when my hair was the darkest it has ever been, which was when my hair was very ashy brown with some like blonde highlights in it. And Mousen C thinks she like misunderstood the shadows in the photo and thought that like the brown parts of my hair were just shadows, but she made my hair completely blonde again. And I'm gonna tell you how much it cost. This is a random moment. This is a random moment. How much, well, I've gone to her before. How much do think it cost? It was a half head of highlights and a glaze. M2: Wait, is this the woman who is... Well, that's your problem. I'm trying to think about how much my haircut costs. And you get highlights. 180. M1: I did not even get a haircut. I did not even get a haircut. I just got $422, which I didn't know. I didn't know. I go to the register. I go to the register and then it goes 422. And I was already hitting my card over and I was just like, so she puts it on my card and then I obviously had to know how much to tip. And I said, I must've misheard. I said, oh, sorry, what was the total? And she goes 422. And then I literally like, I guess almost sort of passed out in the spot because that was unbelievably expensive. And also my hair isn't actually what I wanted. I don't hate it. I've been blonde for a long time. It's fine. But this just literally isn't even remotely what I asked for. So that was a pit. M2: I was trying to remember what my haircut is, because I'm trying to remember what I tip the woman. I think my haircut's $120, and I get my hair colored as well. Well, I get my hair glazed semi-permanent, because my gray hair is. M1: How do you feel about my $420 hairstyle? M2: ⁓ I actually like my hairdresser a lot, although she did tell me that I was getting older. ⁓ Your hair looks fine. But my pit, I can't really say specifically what it was, but I had a really bizarre. No, this isn't an eye roll. Are you kidding me? Even mom and dad agreed. I had a really bizarre interaction today. I can't really get into it, but it was this sounds way more like ominous than it was. It was just weird. It's really. M1: Well, you are. It wasn't that weird though guys. Like you're probably picturing something like creepy. wasn't like that. M2: That wasn't creepy, but it was odd. ⁓ M1: it was just like a miscommunication confusing. ⁓ M2: No fault to myself, but someone miscommunicated. It was a really odd, it brought a lot of stress. still sort of like, I'm sort of getting over it. So that was my pit. What was your peach? M1: My peach is that one of my friends is getting married in the Cotswolds of England at the end of May. And we have officially RSVP that we're going. So we are planning that trip. I think we're going to bring the Micklet along. And so we're trying to figure out the logistics of that. We have to fly into London. So we'll be in London for a little bit end of May. ⁓ Why? M2: What is it? ⁓ Wait, end of May, Memorial Day? M1: the weekend after Memorial Day. Why? M2: Just because I'm going to London and Paris like a couple weeks after. M1: That's weird. Very weird guys if you notice I am not going on that trip. I wasn't invited. M2: You were invited. said you could come. You just can't bring the baby. Because the baby's not invited on the trip. We're going to be doing things that can't have a baby there. M1: Why can't I bring the baby? Anyways, I'm planning my trip and I'm very excited about it. What's your peach? M2: I'll say that my peach is my upcoming Disney trip, which is in less than a month. I'm very excited about. But also my Paris trip. think. OK, this is rude. didn't do your London trip. I'm excited for my Paris trip. We'll be going to London as well. Paris and then also be going to Disneyland Paris. So all right. This is unacceptable. M1: And guys, if I want to go with the Mikulet, I can go on an adjacent trip that's not the same as your trip, staying in the same hotels, taking all the same transportation. ⁓ Not the same as your trip, that is sort of my own trip. M2: Pfft! All right, okay, let's end with the fact of the day My fact of the day is about well do rock and roller coaster I feel like there's a lot of fun facts about rock and roller coaster But one is that they didn't actually intend to have Aerosmith Initially they reached out to a bunch of other bands you to kiss Rolling Stones I thought Prince was one of them, but it's not apparently and everything was too expensive and that's they ended up with Aerosmith M1: My fact of the day, I thought of the other day, it's inspired by Mouselet A. I kind of think I might have shared this fact before, but I just can't remember. And if I have, it's a good one. Mouselet Two sent me a photo the other day of a picture of Mouselet A with a little Mr. Toad figurine that they had, Mr. Toad in his car. And I said, why did you send that? And the answer is because sometimes Mouselet Two thinks that Mouselet A is being crazy and she calls her a... M2: Manic, manic, just like Mr. Toad, J. Thaddeus is his full name. M1: So she calls her a J. Thaddeus. And that reminded me that inside of the Trader Sam's at the Polynesian hanging in the center of the room is a set of keys. And if you look at those keys, they say J. Thaddeus on them because Mr. Toad, of course, drove his car to Trader Sam's and was being manic and got too drunk. And so they had to take his keys and hang them on the ceiling so he couldn't reach them. And I just, as someone who has a sister who loves Mr. Toad, and I love Trader Sam's. It's just like one of my favorite little details and it gets so funny. I know, because you just were very rude about your Paris trip. M2: We love your sissy. Alright guys, that was a pretty good episode. I will say mouse the one yawned probably at least like 40 to 50 times You did you kept doing it M1: No, I didn't. Now I'm gonna yawn because you just said it.
