- 0:45Welcome back to the boundary Corner podcast.
- 0:49I'm Curtis Wilson, I'm Brian sigla buddy.
- 0:53Hump day, hope Day evening. How you doing, man?
- 0:56One day evening, enjoying the flight and logger.
- 0:59There you go, throwing back a little bit of Hollywood's finest
- 1:04or at least Hollywood's party with Sookie.
- 1:11Relaxing Grill, some pork chops tonight on the grill.
- 1:15A can't big tickle pork chops, man.
- 1:19You cannot be looking nice little girl in action.
- 1:23You know, I've had two days of this, like come get off work and
- 1:30do nothing. So, you know, I don't, I don't
- 1:34know do it myself. I've been soaking in the playoff
- 1:40baseball. We're so that's been happening.
- 1:44Yeah. That that's been my go-to in the
- 1:46evening. You know, bright and nice little
- 1:51break tonight. Break tonight, congrats to the
- 1:55Bravo's and the stocks absolute it on, to the a LCS and NLCS
- 2:02respectively in years where I don't think anybody would have
- 2:06expected either of those teams to make it.
- 2:10I mean, for real like that, the injuries you guys had.
- 2:15And you know when you tell us a Boston's going to make it but
- 2:20Chris sales going to pitch a month of the Season people like
- 2:23people like nah, y'all aren't going to do it but they made it.
- 2:27What it shows you though about baseball.
- 2:31As if ever in every other sport, if you draft, good players or
- 2:35get good, young players and develop them, you will win
- 2:38games. That's what the Braves have done
- 2:43for the last few years. Ears.
- 2:45And if you start looking at the socks, that's what it is there.
- 2:49You know, when they traded mookie and got Verdugo and
- 2:52quique, like you knew they were good, solid players. and you
- 2:57knew between Devers and Bogaerts and some of the kids in the pin
- 3:00and ivaldi guys, who hit they developed in the system or
- 3:03traded when they were younger, It clear development, that's
- 3:09what that's why the Brazen the Red Sox are in the ICS
- 3:13championship series and the Braves have such a good young
- 3:16core and then two of those guys go down with seasonings in the
- 3:19injuries before the All-Star break and we completely
- 3:24Patchwork that thing together before the trade deadline and
- 3:29just kept moving. Well, y'all are under 100 is
- 3:33beginning of August. Y'all went on.
- 3:34A are it was it was a big day. It was a big tear, it was a huge
- 3:38tayyar. Well, if what we were flirting
- 3:41with, with 500, pretty much from May until August, and then we
- 3:47finally got over the hump. And once we were there, we more
- 3:51or less, you know, kind of handled business.
- 3:52As we closed out there had, like, one or two Series where we
- 3:58didn't didn't play well, but more or less.
- 4:00We were able to, you know, take most of the series down the
- 4:04stretch, swept a couple in there.
- 4:06There's and you sweat, sweat sweat, the big one.
- 4:09At the end there to close it out against the Phillies.
- 4:11So, yeah, in 15 games over 500 many injuries.
- 4:14As you guys had is unbelievable, man.
- 4:17So we continue as we record. If you see the head move, you
- 4:22guys will know why but not tonight and you guys will find
- 4:27out what hundred Burger team. Y'all play.
- 4:30And what's your preference Dodgers or Giants?
- 4:33I think we match up better against the Giants.
- 4:36Yeah, I think so even though Revenge would be sweet.
- 4:40It Revenge would be sweet. I think just in terms of
- 4:43matchups and and overall top to bottom.
- 4:47And I just think it's a better matchup for us but you know,
- 4:51we'll see how it goes. Absolutely, I'd love nothing
- 4:55better to put it to the Dodgers. So it will be it will be good
- 4:58either way, for me, either way, either way, so Brian watching
- 5:01will Monday Night Football. On Twitter going back and forth
- 5:05to Jon Gruden. You make brakes.
- 5:08Yep. And every joke went what last
- 5:12longer? This Jian game or John grew in
- 5:17fires awning. If you took the John Gurdon
- 5:20resigning or getting fired, you were right.
- 5:24You know, in years ago, company emails, some of the crap that
- 5:29was said, man, you just don't say that.
- 5:32It's just, it's just wrong. You don't say that.
- 5:35You definitely don't say that in company emails that you know, I
- 5:37don't say it. Subject do shit like this.
- 5:39Like what is wrong as it was? And as much as you know, he, you
- 5:45know, he resigned, he didn't fight it, you know, and he's
- 5:50getting, you know, essentially washed away which is one of
- 5:54those sad things because people can make mistakes, say things
- 5:58and still change and etcetera. Etc.
- 6:03But my piece is this. They're saying that they're they
- 6:09can't release any emails or find any emails on the Redskins
- 6:12Investigation ID Again. Full not especially mean, you've
- 6:18got stuff coming out with all that stuff that even schefter
- 6:21was sending over to Bruce and like, how, how is nothing else
- 6:26coming out like that. So it's there somebody's got it.
- 6:30Yeah, but he's gonna be dropping hammers because you can't wait.
- 6:33Think about that investigation, an investigation.
- 6:37Ended. It was it was a point made on
- 6:38the radio here in Richmond that investigation was concluded.
- 6:42Do you remember what it was? Concluded Ron because the point
- 6:44that is funny. It was made July 2nd.
- 6:51July 2nd, the weekend before July 4th.
- 6:54What happens normally Friday's before, holidays, in most
- 6:58corporate workplaces holidays, you leave early, leave early,
- 7:03you're gone by lunch between, want you to everybody's out of
- 7:06the office? People are gone.
- 7:09What happened Monday? Everybody had the federal
- 7:12holiday because the fourth was on a Sunday so they break that
- 7:16and use them. People start talking about a
- 7:20Tuesday but by Tuesday, it's like who gives a crap.
- 7:23Yeah, whatever. And now they took the Friday,
- 7:26dump to like the complete all they took it to ten exponential
- 7:30level. They're unbelievable.
- 7:33Question is what additional comes out?
- 7:35And now you're having people who was involved in that especially
- 7:39after Jay, Gruden, who have been there for all those years.
- 7:41Oh yeah, I was never interviewed.
- 7:43Nobody ever talked to me. It's like huh.
- 7:46So I think more is going to come out.
- 7:49Out and I tell you whoever's got that info.
- 7:52You can get a feeling that they're going to start leaking
- 7:55it. Yeah, I mean, I know, I know a
- 7:58lot of Washington football team fans that would love nothing
- 8:02more than for Snyder to have to wave bye-bye to this franchise.
- 8:07Oh yeah. And it would be even more more
- 8:11Just Desserts considering some of the shit that was happening.
- 8:14It's especially around the early, really around the, the
- 8:19The needle labor. Yeah.
- 8:20Well the labor situation like there.
- 8:23They were playing a lot of shenanigans at that point.
- 8:25Anyway, abso-freaking-lutely? Alright, Braun.
- 8:29We tell you what really grinds my gears about polls.
- 8:32What you got man? Alabama, who's the number one
- 8:36team in the country needed within the Texas A&M?
- 8:41Texas. A&M undefeated Braun.
- 8:43No, they were not. What were they even ranked in
- 8:45the top 25? No, well, the over 500.
- 8:49No, no, no, no, no, but they lose if you didn't watch you
- 8:55into that game. After if you could, I could
- 8:59stomach it watching the hockey game, me and Brian jabbed, a
- 9:03couple minutes, and then I'll watch the end of that.
- 9:07You would expect. Normally if this was any other
- 9:09conference, any other our team, how many spots would you have
- 9:14expected them to fall losing to a 500 team unranked?
- 9:19Even though it was on the road they did least drop to eight or
- 9:24higher. Well they dropped a five, they
- 9:27drop for spots. Yeah, they essentially gave them
- 9:31the same treatment that Penn State got ten straight, who was
- 9:35for, who is now seven or eight. I've got to look back at the
- 9:38polls who lost to The number three team by a field goal.
- 9:46On the road. Yep, as well.
- 9:50I hate the poles. You you hate them at the
- 9:54beginning. I hate on for these reasons.
- 9:56When certain teams get favorable treatment, if they lose a game.
- 10:03I mean at this point, I don't know if that's if this is SEC
- 10:06buys or just Alabama buys, that's that's coming into play.
- 10:09Here is some Bubbles and it's ridiculous.
- 10:12And, you know, I get that Alabama on paper is still a,
- 10:18probably one of the two best teams in the country.
- 10:20I get that. But you got, you still got to
- 10:23win the games. You don't, you don't get to have
- 10:25favorable treatment just because on paper, that's how it works.
- 10:30Because football isn't played on paper, you still got to go out
- 10:32and win the The game, it's true. You shouldn't penalize other
- 10:36teams that are taken care of their business, just because
- 10:39another team is top to bottom the best roster and they've got,
- 10:44you know, one of the best coaches of all time.
- 10:46Like, you can't ask you can't live off of that in the polls.
- 10:50It has to be, you know, week to week.
- 10:52And what they actually do on the field, it needs to be concrete,
- 10:57it doesn't need to be. What about isms, or
- 11:00hypothetically, hypothetically that investing So
- 11:03hypothetically, if they lost four games, would you still put
- 11:06them in the playoffs? The honest truth.
- 11:08There would be somebody on that committee, that would say, well,
- 11:11you know, they only lost by a combined nine points in those
- 11:14four games still there, essentially giving them a
- 11:17mulligan. Because they know that at some
- 11:19point, they're going to have to play Georgia, more than likely
- 11:26EF are essentially giving them a mulligan saying, okay, well,
- 11:31here's your Mulligan. You're gonna have to play
- 11:33Georgia at some point. We'll figure this out at that
- 11:36point. It's true and it was your
- 11:37bullshit, it's bullshit. But you know it is what it is is
- 11:41reasons why we still stand on a hill of we need a fucking
- 11:44playoff. I mean, it's the reason I down
- 11:48the hill because if you're going to start seeing that losses are
- 11:52irrelevant, then put more than four teams and they're getting
- 11:57people a chance. And if you're saying losses are
- 11:59irrelevant, then you can potentially.
- 12:02If you're, you know, if your bread makers have a, have a
- 12:06pseudo Bad season for them, you know, ten wins two losses
- 12:10potentially three losses, they can still get in.
- 12:12So yeah. And some of this Being saved
- 12:17surgery, will it goes back to the money thing, right?
- 12:19Let me it's a big deal to keep Alabama in the In Contention.
- 12:27It is it is they draw eyes are like Ohio state.
- 12:32They're like, you know, Oklahoma and in a way it's multiple teams
- 12:37that draw the eyes of the Casual public.
- 12:41Yep. Hey Brian.
- 12:43Um, but we jump in the Hokey notes Here.
- 12:45Big, big news. News out of Miami.
- 12:47Dear King is done for the year shoulder injury, on top of
- 12:53essentially to recover an ACL so he's done, he will not be in
- 12:57Coral Gables, Miami Stadium Hard Rock Cafe at the end of November
- 13:02versus us or against any other team but he hasn't yes.
- 13:07Contemplated coming back for his seventh season on Sunday.
- 13:13Hold on Sunday. You said as of right now, The
- 13:17only game you could see us winning without a shadow of a
- 13:21doubt was do, does it change anything with them losing their
- 13:25King, especially the way they look a few weeks ago?
- 13:29I mean I still put it probably in a toss-up category but I
- 13:33think it's one that we are, it's a favorable one.
- 13:38You know, at the beginning of the season I probably had that
- 13:41as a probable loss seeing how they looked In general, I was
- 13:48already kind of leaning towards full on toss-up.
- 13:52I'd probably put that in the toss up with us as being the
- 13:56slight favorite there. Now, kind of in the same
- 14:00ballpark is maybe the Georgia Tech matchup.
- 14:05Maybe the Syracuse matchup kind of in that same ballpark at this
- 14:10point and it's because Derek King kind of made that ship go.
- 14:17It on at least on the offensive side of the ball and their
- 14:19defense hasn't quite played to the level.
- 14:22That we were expecting them to play this year and coupling that
- 14:25with not having Derek King on that offense, you know, we're
- 14:28starting to see things that we were talking about going into
- 14:30last year again, right? With that offensive line and
- 14:33some of the other struggles that they were having so.
- 14:36Well their defense was expected to be the reason they were so
- 14:41highly ranked, right? They were returning so many
- 14:44guys, I mean they lost some Edge presents and Philip.
- 14:46Oops and Roche, but they still had a couple guys behind them.
- 14:50The defense look has looked like, and I've watched pork to
- 14:53the Alabama, the App State. I watch part of the UVA.
- 14:57I did, I miss the Michigan State game.
- 14:59That was they the day? They played that game was just
- 15:01bad time and I couldn't see any of it, but it look like that
- 15:04defense gets on the field and their expectation is 0 where the
- 15:07Miami defense. And then they get pumped into
- 15:11face and it's like, so, like, what does that matter to us?
- 15:16We don't care if you're the Miami defense.
- 15:19Yeah. And without them, having that
- 15:21Elite pass rush this year, I mean, you're starting to see.
- 15:26They've got an elite players on the back end, but kind of
- 15:28remember the one of the big questions we asked before the
- 15:31season is, you know, are they going to be able to generate
- 15:34enough pressure for them to maximize Talent, they have on
- 15:38the back end and Now the answer has been no, so far them, losing
- 15:44truly three top top line Edge Rogers, I know one didn't play
- 15:48last year for them, but losing three pass rushers off that
- 15:54defense. I mean, that's a big deal.
- 15:57All of those guys are NFL caliber players, all of our own
- 16:01rotten. Yeah.
- 16:02All three of them. So exactly.
- 16:04So, you know, that that that's, that's been a big deal for them
- 16:08and they haven't really found Found a footing where they can,
- 16:12you know, put four quarters together on either side of the
- 16:15ball and some of that goes back to Derek Kings injury and some
- 16:18of that goes back to that defense just not being what it
- 16:20was last year. Exactly, and the honest truth
- 16:24is, For Manny Diaz. Obviously we've restored your
- 16:30coming out about the president of the University doesn't care
- 16:32about football. The ad does we discussed it
- 16:36amongst ourselves with other people?
- 16:38They have the boosters to keep their program of floating on
- 16:41being in pain, regardless at the school says they're not trying
- 16:44to give them anything. But at what point this year Does
- 16:51does a call or is it calm a like, he's gone.
- 16:55Go find someone else, man. He's going.
- 16:59Yeah, and I think because, you know, there's two things at play
- 17:02here. So number one, you know, they
- 17:05don't necessarily have the support from the University at
- 17:08large, but also because of that they are in because they're
- 17:11private institution, they are primarily, you know, so much of
- 17:16the funds that are coming in have always been That of the
- 17:20private nature. So they can make moves like that
- 17:23on that side without necessarily having to seek the budget Ariel
- 17:29approval of the of the University of the same way that
- 17:33a public institution would. So I can see them going after.
- 17:39Manny Diaz. I don't necessarily think that
- 17:43what he's dealing with this year is completely falling at his
- 17:47feet. But it's another example.
- 17:49'Well of you can't keep stacking decent recruiting classes.
- 17:56You can't be a team in Florida and and continue to put out a
- 18:01mediocre product every year. Absolutely, absolutely.
- 18:05I'm Brian. Let's flip it over to the hook
- 18:06you notes. Will the press conference will
- 18:08build things said by coach Fuente but let's start with
- 18:11this. Me and me and Brian, got
- 18:15together and watch this for a few minutes.
- 18:18We watch the whole thing. Yeah, it was a solid 30, 35
- 18:21minutes, watched it in the first two minutes were watching it in.
- 18:27Was it me or you? Like, I was like, he's cracking
- 18:31his knuckles and playing with his wedding ring?
- 18:33He does not want to be up there. His body language and majority
- 18:36that press conference. With the exception of what we're
- 18:39going to talk about the end with the targeting, he was
- 18:42uncomfortable it Look terrible, you know, he even had a few
- 18:46Clips with Mike Missoula. Kyle, you know, I know you gotta
- 18:50ask it well you know it at least act you don't have to say that
- 18:54like he looks so bad up there. And you know it's it's a it's
- 19:00kind of a could self-portrait to say well this is where we are.
- 19:05You know, it's a lot of uncomfortableness.
- 19:07It's a lot of cracking knuckles, it's playing with writing rings
- 19:10and for any of you guys who are married, you know, the you know,
- 19:14I do it watching games, you know, movies that I haven't seen
- 19:19that are suspenseful. I'm playing with my ring.
- 19:22It's just a common thing. So as soon as you saw that is
- 19:27like he ain't in the best headspace as of this moment.
- 19:34Yeah, I mean just looked like he was You fidgeting a lot and I
- 19:39think it was just, I'd like to be other places than here and I
- 19:45can I can understand that. I mean yes.
- 19:48And you know, I think one of the things that I mean we can we can
- 19:53start. I know he didn't get to this
- 19:56right away. But you know, when we talk about
- 19:59the decisions to go for two and not go for two, you know?
- 20:04He he definitely took some ownership of that choice even
- 20:08though he said, you know, from a His.
- 20:14He said his way of going about those things is probably more
- 20:17traditional than what the statisticians would probably
- 20:24advise. Yeah.
- 20:27In the thing was, you know, if you go by the book, the book
- 20:31said, you don't go to go for two when we went for two.
- 20:35And then if you went for to, there you go for two.
- 20:38Again when you score later the later, right?
- 20:42Yeah, you go for two. It either spot.
- 20:44Because if you get both well, if you get one, not the other,
- 20:51essentially you're up more than eight and it's a two score game
- 20:56and again, well, it doesn't necessarily help you.
- 20:58I B8 does force a, you have to get a tattoo, but at the other
- 21:02type of CO2, but at the same time, if you're up seven,
- 21:06they're not going for to unless, you know, they're completely
- 21:10going full on. What it does.
- 21:14Well, there you said it aloud to me after he talked about it,
- 21:18what it does is if you get that too and you get to nine one way
- 21:25or the other. Yep.
- 21:28Especially after we were up seven and go up.
- 21:31Eight, you go. For two, is you sit there and
- 21:34say, if we go for two here and we get to 9, even if they go
- 21:38score and they get the two point conversion, which they don't
- 21:41have to say, they'll probably still just kick the one who
- 21:44probably kick it. But at that point in time, You
- 21:48can essentially run the ball three times, even though they
- 21:52didn't use their timeouts, you still force a timeout.
- 21:56You get, you get rid of their timeouts unless they're going to
- 21:58hold them. Well, it's a different set of
- 22:01play calls, right? It's a different set of play
- 22:02calls, you're not trying to move the ball into field goal range.
- 22:05You're trying to run out the clock.
- 22:07That's a completely separate part of the place sheet that
- 22:11you're looking at. In the other piece mean, you
- 22:14talked about this how they attack going downfield to get
- 22:17The field goal middle of the field.
- 22:20Why he had three timeouts in his back pocket?
- 22:23If somebody got tackled short burn it By attacking it.
- 22:28If we had, if we had been up nine and we're run we run and we
- 22:34run and we only take like 12 seconds off the clock, they
- 22:37burn. All three of their timeouts.
- 22:39Well, now playing the middle of the field is risque It's risky,
- 22:45you get tackled short even if you get tackled and get the gun
- 22:48in the game. If you send some my way down
- 22:49field, we talked about a Sunday. Well, now you got to bring
- 22:52everybody back up in the clocks kicking, kicking kicking.
- 22:55So more or less, you're going to have to go outside the numbers
- 23:00and it makes it more difficult to move down feel, but we makes
- 23:03it more difficult to move down field and it plays to the
- 23:06strengths of our secondary as well.
- 23:09Yep. They're throwing into the meat
- 23:11of what of what our secondary is versus into the, the middle of
- 23:15the defense where we're probably, that's probably the
- 23:18weaker area of our defenses in the middle, right?
- 23:20So. Oh yeah, it's absolutely, it
- 23:23changes. The dynamic of both, the of that
- 23:27last drive for them and, and our last Drive.
- 23:31Yeah. Absolutely.
- 23:32So let's, let's talk about this. Do just something he did talk
- 23:35about, he talked about execution and we Heard it before and you
- 23:40just kind of went into a rant, do you?
- 23:42I didn't have to ask you to pause it.
- 23:44You pause it. And went Yeah.
- 23:47So I mean the the big thing that I always Harper on is that one
- 23:52off games execution, can be placed at the feet of players
- 23:57players don't always go out and have a have to have the best
- 24:00games in terms of execution habitual, acts of execution,
- 24:06errors are 100% on the coaching staff.
- 24:10If you are consistently going out there and not executing
- 24:14you've done one of three things, Things wrong you didn't recruit
- 24:18the right players or you didn't prepare them or there is
- 24:23something going on in your scheme and you're not putting
- 24:25them in a good position to make those plays.
- 24:29Yeah, and over this time as many times we've heard execution,
- 24:34it's finally, it's like it's on y'all don't don't don't try to
- 24:37put on the players, its on you you should take the ownership
- 24:42for it now. Can I say this problem?
- 24:47Would you be more accepting of execution type stuff?
- 24:51If things have been changed, Yes.
- 24:56Only because you're at that point, we'd be talking about a
- 24:59new system, right? We'd be talking about still kind
- 25:02of playing into things, potentially not having the right
- 25:05Personnel on campus to run things the way you want to.
- 25:08And that's that's thinking of bringing in a new offensive
- 25:11coordinator. Not Fuente taking over the play
- 25:13calling. Yeah, that's not that.
- 25:14If went a mistake, you know the play calling.
- 25:16Then those excuses would go out of the window and so they would
- 25:19go out the window but it's that whole pieces.
- 25:21Why do you see guys when they into a four or five year deal?
- 25:26And this isn't all lines of football.
- 25:29You see them. If things aren't clicking pretty
- 25:32quick especially year three and four.
- 25:35That's when I you've got to go. You have to leave.
- 25:40We aren't executing like I can again you made the point that we
- 25:44can deal with Gamers here and they're consistently on.
- 25:48Executing is not good at all. So yeah, and he had the chance,
- 25:55he's had the chance multiple And she didn't do it.
- 25:57So, again, everything is continuously falling on him, you
- 26:02know, I told you a few weeks ago, I'm, I'll still throw bread
- 26:07when he got to go onto the bus all throwing, but it's often
- 26:10went in there, it's all on him. So he's got an ankle decisions
- 26:15and he's made the bed at this point, right?
- 26:17Like State. Yeah, at this point, corn is who
- 26:20he is. There's no going back on that.
- 26:24We're just have to deal with the Consequences of that and those
- 26:27consequences fallback, if went a we did get some other news
- 26:32though. So yeah, you know, we were
- 26:34talking about Braxton Burmeister and whether he'd be available
- 26:37and turns out, he's been 100% full go at practice this week so
- 26:41we'll go steady. Surprise said he felt good in
- 26:44the interview today. So I'm going to assume Brown
- 26:48probably probably nothing muscle wise probably know separated
- 26:55shoulder. Probably not even a deep bruise.
- 26:59Stinger, maybe bone bruise would be the most severe, you know,
- 27:04we'll never know because yeah, I don't talk about it.
- 27:09We have be Beyond here in six months.
- 27:11We'll find out exactly the story want to try to mark your
- 27:16calendars guys. We did find out that kind of
- 27:20blown work is at least going to be out for a while.
- 27:24He did leave open the opportunity for him to
- 27:26potentially return Towards the end of the season but depending
- 27:30on what that injury was, he did say it was a leg injury that
- 27:35doesn't look good for him. I'm guessing it could
- 27:39potentially, could have been like a bad sprain versus some
- 27:43sort of actual tear in the knee because it looked like it was a
- 27:46neat, the knee area. So it could be some sort of MCL
- 27:50sprain or something like that. Those are usually like six to
- 27:53eight-week injuries. Yeah.
- 27:54Something something significant. A severe sprain of those would
- 27:59definitely even an LCL, they'd be out for quite some time.
- 28:04Usually, it's the MCL. What really sucks is the way
- 28:08they used him Saturday, say what you will, you know, The
- 28:13incorrect use of a more terrible when they used incorrectly
- 28:17multiple times, it was an addition to the offense that was
- 28:21helpful and we never it, never really got to truly see what
- 28:27Connor the H back with Braxton on the field could have looked
- 28:31like to, because that could have that could have created some
- 28:34interesting matchups against a defense.
- 28:36So I was a little sad. We didn't get to see that as
- 28:38well. So we'll see how that continues
- 28:41forward. I guess the other thing we
- 28:44talked about when they talked about was Dax with the targeting
- 28:51penalty, going to be out the first half of pit this week, as
- 28:55a result of it being in the second half asleep, towards the
- 28:57end of the game and this case so looks like Dean and Keyshawn are
- 29:02going to get a good amount of play this week.
- 29:06Look for look for probably Keyshawn to get get a good
- 29:08amount of play. Although you know I'll talk
- 29:12about a little It now this is a great opportunity to especially
- 29:15with the way pit likes to play essentially writing that true
- 29:20nickel for the majority of the game.
- 29:23Yeah, like we probably should have did in that last vs.
- 29:26Notre Dame or the last two series and they had a pass, but
- 29:30Jay and we love you. But you made a bad mistake.
- 29:33Don't keep doing it Keshawn. They said it has been getting
- 29:37the primary ones this week, John has been with the system.
- 29:42Mmm, a little longer than Dean, he's a little bit older or more
- 29:45experienced in, you know, it's still tough because middle
- 29:52linebacker brother coming and colder with a week of prep.
- 29:56Has to make all the calls has to put everybody in position.
- 30:01And that's sort of the that's the part that we miss the most
- 30:04on Dax even in those last few drives.
- 30:08You know, was getting people lined up, right?
- 30:11You know, the middle path. Ass that was the big Gainer.
- 30:15You know, argue all you want up and down that could actually
- 30:19covered a wide receiver. If taxes in the game, I don't
- 30:22think they call that play. I don't, because if the way I
- 30:27saw it is if you saw the Tisdale play Ferguson was hesitant to
- 30:31come up and help clean up that mess and then, The very next
- 30:38play, they attacked it. So and I think, you know, it's
- 30:42more of a, you know, you smell blood in the water type thing,
- 30:46then it was necessarily Dax is a head and shoulders above Dina
- 30:50terms of coverage like that's not what I'm talking about here
- 30:54but you got a cold player coming off the bench.
- 30:58Most most coordinators attack the cold player because
- 31:01regardless of their ability they might be playing either too
- 31:05hesitant or too loose. And you can take advantage of
- 31:08that. It's 100% man.
- 31:10All right, Ron, the targeting call, it was one of those Highly
- 31:14Questionable calls actually, both bargaining was Saturday
- 31:17night and he wasn't even the one that worked in our favor and
- 31:20granted. I think the the time it happened
- 31:23and the player, it happened to definitely hurt us.
- 31:26A whole lot more than it hurt, Notre, Dame, but you did it.
- 31:31Did both of them were were questionable in terms of malice.
- 31:35Yes, letter. Letter of A law of those were
- 31:38targeting penalties. Yes.
- 31:43But neither of them were forceful or intentional contact
- 31:48to the head and neck area. No it wasn't.
- 31:50And it's and it's something that I told you Brian not long after
- 31:53it happened, something like this needs to happen to the right
- 31:58team and on the right stage against the right opponent,
- 32:03that's how the change is going to happen, that's how it's gonna
- 32:06happen. It's got It's going to be to me,
- 32:09when I say, right opponent, let's say this year in the
- 32:13playoffs Georgia plays Michigan. Or you know, someone else and
- 32:21it's a tight game late in its third and its second and goal.
- 32:26The guys going to the corner of the guy.
- 32:29Does a good football player but it's Target and he's out top
- 32:32linebacker. The other team punches it in
- 32:35Beach. Georgia.
- 32:36Georgia is not in the final. That's when things will happen.
- 32:41But during the conversation with went day, he met you know he
- 32:47made the point about how coaches and stuff had been discussing
- 32:51that there should be a targeting one and a targeting too much
- 32:55like the flagrant one inflate your to him basketball and
- 32:58listening to that. He got very comfortable.
- 33:00The body language means when he was talking that it very
- 33:02comfortable in it and he made some really great points.
- 33:08Yeah, and I'm actually 100% with this because I'll me too.
- 33:12I have no problem with any any sort of contact to the head neck
- 33:16area. Flag it.
- 33:17That's fine. Yes, you know because you still
- 33:20want to try to keep that out of the game as much as you can.
- 33:24But penalizing a player that is not purposefully and forcefully
- 33:32initiating that contact it needs to just stick with the flagrant.
- 33:36One, keep that player in the game or even if you're going to
- 33:39do. Essentially you get a flagrant 2
- 33:43or 2. Flagrant ones in a game equals a
- 33:45flagrant two. Yes that's the way it should be.
- 33:48That's the way it honestly should be.
- 33:51You know for one day said he felt like they've talked to this
- 33:53at ACF afca coaches with officials and it's just they
- 33:57like feel like it just goes into space and he made the best point
- 34:01he made whether you love or hate the guy, it's all your decision.
- 34:06He says the reason it's not happening so quick, as nobody
- 34:09wants to be seen as going backwards against player safety.
- 34:13And and that's the thing that you have to essentially sell to
- 34:16the officials and the presidents of it's not going backwards,
- 34:20it's staying status quo but it actually not being negative
- 34:28towards just an incidental play in that and you're not you're
- 34:32not just hurting a team either, you know, you're hurting Players
- 34:36stock. I mean, there's a lot of things
- 34:38that that you're hurting here, especially, if you know that
- 34:41player is playing on a big stage at a big, big moment.
- 34:45And all of a sudden, like, if a player is pushing for, you know,
- 34:50borderline first line draft first-round draft status, and
- 34:53they're playing in college football, playoff and they're
- 34:56gone, the fifth play of the game.
- 34:58I mean, that's high quality game tape that they know, they don't
- 35:01have, they can't put on their resume is at the next level.
- 35:05That's a Big deal. And if that ends up costing
- 35:08their team a game, they don't get a chance to put that out
- 35:10there for the next game. So there's real world
- 35:14ramifications for the player itself, not just the team and it
- 35:19looks like that the main punishment here is that they
- 35:21want to okay, well the team gets punished for a players choices
- 35:24here and this that and the third and, you know, we want players
- 35:30to be safe and play the game as safely as possible, but at the
- 35:33same time and this was kind of emphasized.
- 35:36And this has always been my thought on anything is that you
- 35:40know, doing the right thing is always better than doing.
- 35:43You know whatever the flavor of the week is and that's the
- 35:46flavor of the week now is the targeting injection and you
- 35:50know, I wanted to change quicker than anyone because you know Can
- 35:59we just say it? Just say it that penalty has
- 36:03caused two games against Notre Dame, two games, Waller's
- 36:08playing in nineteen, don't think they drive the field on that
- 36:12last drive and win, and I'll say this, it dax's on the field for
- 36:17that entire Drive. I think what happens is probably
- 36:21it's not as a quick a drive as it was because a they gained 40
- 36:25yards, 15 off taxes penalty and 40 off attacking Ferguson They
- 36:31were at the 35-yard line or 30 yard line when that play
- 36:35happened. Yeah, you do the math, that gets
- 36:38them to the 45. You take the 25 yard there in
- 36:42Red Zone pretty quick because of that one play.
- 36:48And again I think if it's a vice versa play and it affects Notre
- 36:52Dame. Maybe this was the time it
- 36:54happened. So.
- 36:57Well, guys, what we're not saying is that that necessarily,
- 37:00you know, Resulted in Notre, Dame winning the game but it
- 37:03certainly was one of the factors that played a role in that.
- 37:06Absolutely absolutely. Alright.
- 37:08So before we get into knowing the enemy, the Pitt Panthers, we

- 37:34Grassroots digital studio.com forward slash free Dash website,
- 37:39Dash report. Now back to the episode All
- 37:44right, so let's look at the Pitt Panthers offense Prime.
- 37:46Start out with first of all something.
- 37:48I thought I'd never see Pitt, Panthers leading the country in
- 37:52scoring at 52 points of game forth and total offense, it, you
- 37:59know, 455 yards a game, really good red zone offense, you know,
- 38:06scored 25 touchdowns out of 32 trips down there again.
- 38:11Another highly ranked And if I told you all that and I told you
- 38:17the first thing on, this is the quarterback has had the same
- 38:20offensive coordinator for three seasons.
- 38:23Same people teaching the things for three season and it's making
- 38:28Jenny F and picket a potential has been Contender brand 3 star.
- 38:36You know it's just it's it's 1730 yards. 19 touchdowns one
- 38:45pick 72, the not only the best numbers of his career.
- 38:50I mean it's just it's Leaps and Bounds above it.
- 38:53And I know in reality, he really should be on an NFL roster right
- 38:57now because his Last year should have been his last year last
- 39:00year. Say that five times fast, but
- 39:03he's here Braun. What's changing is game from
- 39:07even last year, when he did, okay?
- 39:11The big thing that I'm seeing is that it looks like the talent
- 39:14around him has really come into their own a little bit more, and
- 39:20he's doing a really good job of Distributing the ball to a lot
- 39:25of different players in that offense and going These
- 39:28progressions a little bit quicker than he's gone through
- 39:31them in his in his history. So far.
- 39:34He said, he looks like he's working through his
- 39:35progressions, a lot faster. Getting the ball to the open man
- 39:39within the the framework of the play a lot better than he has in
- 39:44previous years. I mean and we've seen, I mean,
- 39:46obviously everyone listen to this those who Kenny F and pick
- 39:49it is and yes, we always say F and our fucking, I mean, it's
- 39:55literally it's what we don't really.
- 39:58Not necessarily the animosity isn't so much directed at him,
- 40:01but the fact that he's the quarterback for Pitt and our
- 40:03doozy and the whole shebang, he's Kenny fucking picket.
- 40:08But I mean we know what he brings to the table.
- 40:11He's got good athleticism for four primary throw first
- 40:16quarterback. Probably even a little bit of a
- 40:20step up, even from Sam howl at the athleticism standpoint does
- 40:26a really good job on those. Loud as he keeps his eyes
- 40:30downfield but he knows he has a really good feel of when he
- 40:33needs to kind of Turn It Up field and just get what he can.
- 40:36And like I said, he's been delivering the ball to a lot of
- 40:40different receivers and that's really kind of meant that you
- 40:43can't key on specific players down by down as much and I think
- 40:48that's really helped him kind of move forward, right.
- 40:52Let me ask this Prime, you talked about, he's going through
- 40:54his progressions quicker, being with the same OCC.
- 40:58Same system. Same guy. how easy is that for
- 41:04an OC to come in here and start taking things out of the
- 41:06Playbook and say, essentially start changing the the the the
- 41:14The wide receiver chart like okay we're not running this in
- 41:19this combo anymore. Kenny can't read it but he can
- 41:21read this and this great he can read a smash you know Smash book
- 41:26route, great. We're going to throw that in
- 41:28this set so it's been the same guy in his ear the whole time.
- 41:33Why? Same play, same concept, same
- 41:36looks not rotating cast of characters.
- 41:38Yeah. Well so, you've been to their
- 41:40little bit. So, one thing, the coordinator
- 41:42has a good feel what Kenny is comfortable with in terms of
- 41:45Route combinations Kenny's guide, more more comfortable
- 41:49overall with all of them and because he is a veteran
- 41:52quarterback, this point, what he is, working it on in the
- 41:55offseason is all up here and timing.
- 41:59That's it. He knows the system, right?
- 42:01Yeah. He doesn't have to work on that.
- 42:02He's Working on this, how to get through it faster and the timing
- 42:06with those receivers in the, the other thing that he's benefiting
- 42:09from, is that most of these guys are coming back from last year?
- 42:12Oh, absolutely throwing to yeah. So, he already had some comfort
- 42:16with them. He's working on more comfort,
- 42:18and it's just looked a lot smoother this year.
- 42:20All right, let's talk about those guys.
- 42:22Let's talk about to see your Mac to Star when he came out went to
- 42:25Indiana at first transferred, and December of 1704, Over to
- 42:31pit. So essentially he's been there
- 42:33three. This is his fourth season with
- 42:35picot 62. 190. Interesting place.
- 42:38He played High School football played in be kny plated
- 42:41Brooklyn. Yeah you don't see many guys at
- 42:45a D1 level are real climate. Yeah. 16 catches for 304 yards
- 42:51for two touchdowns averaging, you know, 19 perception.
- 42:55And I tell you Brian his, he's had to 100 plus games and in
- 42:59both those games I was at right at 25 yards per reception.
- 43:04So I got a feeling you're about to say speed Yeah, he's got,
- 43:08he's got good speed. He's there, deep threat.
- 43:11They also run him a lot on those kind of deep comeback routes
- 43:15where he can catch the ball and kind of turn up field and then
- 43:17use that as lettuce ISM in the open field and they throw also a
- 43:22lot of Fades and digs over the middle of the field where he can
- 43:26really kind of plant his foot turn and then kind of use that
- 43:29acceleration across the field to get open and make some big plays
- 43:33saw him. Do a couple of those
- 43:35cross-country routes as well. So, He's the guy that's going to
- 43:39get the the consistent big plays in the offense but he he will
- 43:44occasionally, you know, just be a guy that moves the sticks for
- 43:46him. Like I said, they do run those
- 43:48digs and comebacks. So look for him to probably be
- 43:55the guy that they're going to take some shots with.
- 43:57All right, so the next guy is the guy that's really been
- 44:00lighting it up. Stat wise, Jordan Addison,
- 44:02already twenty nine. Receptions, 524 yards, three
- 44:06100-yard. Games, his last three games
- 44:106-foot 175, you was a four star athlete in the consistence.
- 44:15When he came out for 24/7, he's probably going to go play
- 44:17defensive back of some type. And he's a top 150 player, he
- 44:23was the number for athlete in his class.
- 44:25So this guy, obviously athletic as hell.
- 44:30Nine touchdowns averaging 18 yards per reception with 29 524,
- 44:36It seems like, I look at those numbers and especially three
- 44:40100-yard games. Already this early in the
- 44:42season, back to back to back. He's probably not a one-trick
- 44:45pony. No, he's kind of to do it all
- 44:48weapon on the offense, they run him on.
- 44:53Switch screens. Swings Slants.
- 44:57He's got the full complement of the route.
- 44:59Tree is available to this guy and they take advantage of it
- 45:02with him. He's a little bit more, elusive.
- 45:06Than fast compared to Mac. He kind of has that, that
- 45:11shiftiness they line him up in different places all over the
- 45:14field and because of his route running ability and ability to
- 45:18really kind of do everything in that offense.
- 45:21So he's the he's the weapon that you really have to keep your eye
- 45:23on because he will bust a big play on you.
- 45:28But he's also a good stick mover and kind of the guy that that
- 45:31pick it will look for when he's in trouble.
- 45:35All right, so Macan s and look for them on the outside and
- 45:38Brian are they? They XY are the orders Whipple
- 45:42movies, guys. All around Mac is going to
- 45:45primarily be outside. Addison will will line up all
- 45:49over the offensive formation. All right, all right.
- 45:53Now they have another weapon as well.
- 45:56Lucas crawl. What a journey for.
- 45:59This guy started out at Arkansas and he came out in 2016, then
- 46:03went to a Juco juuko came out as a top four player, the top tight
- 46:08end, then he went to Florida, then he finally transferred to
- 46:12pit 66 260 a prototypical that's an NFL tight end body.
- 46:19He has the size and the height, 15 reception so far this year
- 46:25193 yards and 12.9% options. He scored touchdowns and 45
- 46:30games I'm assuming he is your traditional inline guy.
- 46:38Yeah, he's kind of the quintessential inline stick
- 46:41mover guy, that uses his sighs. Well, to create a target for
- 46:46Kenny. Pick it on those key Downs.
- 46:49He doesn't do anything flashy, but he will kind of be the
- 46:54outlet receiver in a lot of routes.
- 46:56They'll sometimes work him as the primary on, like a third to
- 47:00short and occasionally I think they threw one gadget Play to
- 47:05and where they had a wide receiver.
- 47:08Throw a kind of a fake screen touchdown to him against I think
- 47:14it was Tennessee if I'm not mistaken when I went back and
- 47:17watch the tape. So, okay, you know, kind of kind
- 47:22of the the traditional mold there.
- 47:24Nothing that is, you know, you wouldn't classify him as a joker
- 47:28or anything like that. He is a typical inline guy that,
- 47:32you know, has the hands to be a thread the receiving game.
- 47:37Yeah. Um, you know, obviously scoring,
- 47:41you know, touchdowns in four or five games.
- 47:43They obviously aren't afraid to utilize him down in the red
- 47:46zone. And I just think about a guy
- 47:50that size. I mean, we have no one that can
- 47:54match up with that. Now, hopefully his speed and
- 47:56stuff we make up for it. All right, Brian, let's flip,
- 47:59let's look at the offensive line and as much as been talked
- 48:02about, we've talked about the passing.
- 48:04Yep. They don't have one set.
- 48:05Really running back between. Vez.
- 48:08I'll be in the cond pronounce that right?
- 48:10Andrade hand, and Junior. They all have roughly the same
- 48:15numbers, give or take Hammond jr.
- 48:17Hadn't played in as many games. But overall, the rushing offense
- 48:20is, it's not terrible. It's about, it's literally
- 48:23middle of the country and 165 again.
- 48:26Their 65th, in the nation, and the line hasn't given up too
- 48:31much on a twenty four tackles for loss, only eight sacks,
- 48:35probably more impressive with the Sax's.
- 48:37It's only It's under 60 yards. So it's not like it's, you know,
- 48:41they're giving up 10 or 12 yards per Sack or even in the Even in
- 48:48the tackle for loss game, it's only 198 yards.
- 48:51So overall, their offensive line looks pretty good.
- 48:59Yeah. And a little bit of the running
- 49:00game is a mirage though because Kenny pick Kenny Pickett is
- 49:04getting a good number of those yards, okay?
- 49:09So when you look at, when you look at Kenny picket, in terms
- 49:13of the running game, he's getting a good amount on
- 49:16scrambles. He's getting a good amount on
- 49:19some design runs. So that is skewing the numbers a
- 49:24little bit. When they just line up and hand
- 49:26the ball off, to a running back, they do a great job of not
- 49:29getting caught behind the lines of this isn't a Notre Dame
- 49:32situation but they're not, they're not out there gash in
- 49:36you in the Run game. It's very much in support of the
- 49:41passing attack. They run the ball, they want to
- 49:44be effective enough in the running game so you have to
- 49:48honor it so they can throw the ball like they want to.
- 49:52Yeah and you're right Brian pick it I'm just pulling up the data
- 49:54here he is getting about 25 or 26 yards a game only about under
- 50:00for Carrie but take him out that's down to 140 that's
- 50:05significantly falling down. So I'm glad you made that point.
- 50:09But what else are we seeing? From the what about past probe?
- 50:13so past like I said, they'd like to set up the set up the run
- 50:17with the pass, they do a good job of Protecting Kenny Pickett,
- 50:23especially with it's just like a four-man pressure.
- 50:27They also do a good job in Blitz pickup, but when that is like
- 50:32add oblate delay Blitz, that's when you can kind of catch them
- 50:36napping a little bit. If they see it coming, they do a
- 50:39really good job. They diagnose it and they get
- 50:42where they need to be. They don't know where the
- 50:44pressures coming from pre-snap. All bets are off a little bit
- 50:48and that's when you can finally get to Kenny pick it because he
- 50:50is hard to say. Sack because of how well they
- 50:53are up front of it at picking up the the four-man rush and the in
- 50:59the pre-snap blitz show. All right.
- 51:04Brian before we get into a little data point two players
- 51:07here what sort of Defense are we going to see Saturday with our
- 51:12doozy? It's a familiar defense buddy we
- 51:16got it we got a four to five coming in the house.
- 51:20Not a shock day in so far I'm doing a little little thing here
- 51:30for these stats. I'm about to give you I took out
- 51:32their game against New Hampshire defensively because it's skewed
- 51:36a little bit and they're scoring defense.
- 51:40You take out that game, they're giving up about 26 and a half in
- 51:44game which is in the mid 70s. As far as scoring defense has
- 51:49go. Yep, you're given about 383
- 51:51yards, a game, which is again, mid-70s.
- 51:54And I'm gonna get you some data after Brian goes through these.
- 51:58We go through these players here that we've kind of taken a look
- 52:00at and it's going to be just a little you're going to raise
- 52:04your eyebrows and say how can you be here if you take out one
- 52:07game in your here if you had them all its cues.
- 52:10But Brian, let's talk about defensive line first you know
- 52:13you got the big clogger in the middle and Keyshawn Camp 64.
- 52:17Or 290, you've got baldonado with three and a half sacks.
- 52:20Coming off the edge, 65 to 60 and that.
- 52:24And that's who I kind of was saying to you.
- 52:26What about these guys, Brian? And you said, nope, there's one
- 52:29guy you need to look up Curtis please.
- 52:32You can't see six-foot-two 75d tackle 3 star.
- 52:38Ten, tackles 2 sacks, 34 loss, 3.
- 52:41Tackles for loss this year, what is the tape saying?
- 52:44Because the stats don't jump out.
- 52:45The body type doesn't jump out Brawn, but what is can't see
- 52:48doing on tape. That is making this pit.
- 52:52Making him kind of the key on that deal.
- 52:54I'm I'm not going to make this comparison lightly, but it's
- 52:58like shades of Aaron. Donald in terms of the way he
- 53:01has a motor inside the tackles, he's he doesn't jump off the
- 53:08screen in the same way that Aaron Donald does obviously.
- 53:11So, again, this is a comparison not saying he is that player
- 53:16that caliber player, but the way he plays inside, the tackles is
- 53:20impressive. He impacts the game even when he
- 53:23is not making the play, Yeah, he is blowing up the line of
- 53:28scrimmage impacting the angle the running back impacting with
- 53:32the offensive line is doing as a unit.
- 53:35He kind of makes the whole defense go and makes the job of
- 53:39the other deep members of the defense of wind and the
- 53:41linebackers defending the run that much easier.
- 53:46All right, so shades of Aaron Donald, you know, just when you
- 53:55think When you look at the body type, when you look at at the
- 53:58impact it, but that's that was the first thing that jumped off
- 54:01to me. Like I said, I don't think we're
- 54:03looking at that caliber player. But in terms of how he impacts
- 54:08the game, that that's the type of player you're looking at,
- 54:11it's essentially, his job is similar to Donald's and it's
- 54:16probably why you're seeing baldonado have sex and Pam,
- 54:22Keyshawn Camp have some sacks as well because Of if he's eating
- 54:26that space and he's getting in gaps.
- 54:29Essentially, there there's nowhere to go there with him, do
- 54:33it. He's a star but he doesn't have
- 54:36to eat to be the star. All right, makes sense.
- 54:40All right, let's take a look at the next guy.
- 54:42Take a look at John petition 6. 1 to 25 so far this year twenty
- 54:49two tackles and in interceptions couple sacks and four tackles
- 54:52for loss. Seventh year behind ya that bit
- 54:58of we're going to say that we've said that quite a few times this
- 55:01year while he was a three-star who actually originally
- 55:04committed to Penn State bringing it from Pittsburgh transferred,
- 55:08back to Pittsburgh as a transfer.
- 55:11And I think you're about to say a familiar position for us.
- 55:15Yeah this is a whip and probably more of a traditional whip than
- 55:19what we have Tamara Connor playing now.
- 55:24It's more of it. More true true hybrid versus
- 55:28kind of the the nickel that Shamari plays on a regular
- 55:33basis. He doesn't this, you know he's
- 55:38very it's a very Sound Player. He does a great job with
- 55:41backside run contain from that position.
- 55:44They Blitz him a lot as well. He gets some impact in there
- 55:48especially on run blitzes. So he's not necessarily a guy
- 55:51that they're bringing after the quarterback a whole ton but he
- 55:54blew You up a big goal line play against Tennessee, coming off
- 55:58the edge hard. So he'll they'll bring him a lot
- 56:02in run blitz, situations where he can really impact the edge of
- 56:04the defense and just a solid overall player that, you know,
- 56:09kind of just wears you down a little bit, so nothing flashy,
- 56:14but just somebody to keep an eye on nothing flashy, but if he's a
- 56:18guy doing his job hurts us even more on.
- 56:22Now, what about this next guy? Braun.
- 56:25Brandon Hill looks like a safety 511. 195 leads a team in tackles
- 56:32with 28. Also has a pic in there was a
- 56:34three-star when he came out. What are we seeing from this guy
- 56:39to have so many tackles secondary position?
- 56:43Yeah, he's kind of the cleaner, he's that classic safety, that's
- 56:47coming up there and filling on running plays.
- 56:49He is patrolling the middle kind of that that Rover position for
- 56:54us. Very similar to similar to that.
- 56:57He kind of rolls in to the middle to the back of the
- 57:00defense plays really good and Zone coverage.
- 57:05They like to drop him inside the box and Zone coverage and he'll
- 57:09he'll make some noise. They're very sure tackler.
- 57:12Big hitter in the secondary, he'll he'll lay out if you come
- 57:16across the middle. And like I said, great in zone
- 57:19coverage. He can be beat when he is in a
- 57:21man situation. So that's one area we could
- 57:23potentially take advantage of their But he's also the one that
- 57:26picked off hidden hooker against Tennessee, to kind of close that
- 57:29game out there. Alright, so again, not only guy
- 57:34that can obviously clean up the Run.
- 57:36Not afraid to stick his head in there, but we have to keep an
- 57:39eye out for him intercepting passes.
- 57:42Wonderful. All right I remember this name
- 57:45from last year. Brian sobytia', dentist, one of
- 57:48the inside linebackers there. We talked about him last year.
- 57:52You know, he's 61 230 was a two-star.
- 57:55When he came out, twenty seven, tackles two for loss and a sack.
- 58:01What do you think about him, Brian?
- 58:05Yeah, he's kind of the guy in the middle of the defense that
- 58:07kind of makes them go and allows that first level of their
- 58:10defense to be so strong along with that defensive line, he's
- 58:14kind of eating up, anything that gets through that that defensive
- 58:18line. There does a good job running
- 58:19sideline to sideline and a good job of preventing.
- 58:24Any runs up the middle from getting to the second level and
- 58:28when he does Blitz makes makes a lot, makes the quarterback Rush
- 58:32there. Throws a lot.
- 58:34We'll work in some delay blitzes and things like that on a
- 58:37regular basis. So he's a guy they're going to
- 58:40have to watch out for not only you know when we run the ball
- 58:43trying to get past him up to the second level but also make sure
- 58:47that he doesn't get to Braxton. Absolutely.
- 58:52All right, so about eight minutes ago, we started this
- 58:55segment. I gave you all some adjusted
- 58:57numbers. I didn't adjust these numbers
- 59:00and it kind of paints a picture as a team, who's on the back
- 59:03half of the defense and a team. That's a leak.
- 59:05So I look at all five of their games.
- 59:08Brian and third down conversion rate.
- 59:11They are a top 10 conversion rate, giving up less than 27
- 59:16percent converting. When you have all five, Five of
- 59:20their games. Now the other one maybe not as
- 59:23much of a difference but showing they're really good in the Red
- 59:26Zone their ninth in the country in the Red Zone.
- 59:29When looking at all five of their games and I wanted to do
- 59:32this because when you take out that big skew game and you look
- 59:37at more of just the power 5 opponents and you can do this
- 59:41for us as well and it will skew our defensive numbers without a
- 59:44doubt. But when I see a team from going
- 59:47in the top 10, Fifteen being down in the 70s.
- 59:53I feel like maybe their defense is a little bit of a mirage.
- 59:57They have their issues that because they played one really
- 1:00:02bad team. The numbers are saying they're a
- 1:00:05lot better than actually, what they are.
- 1:00:09Yeah, and they're not, they're not great on the outside, we can
- 1:00:13we should be able to beat them outside with our receivers.
- 1:00:19So that's one thing to look for is that they are they're a good
- 1:00:24defense but they're not an elite defense in my mind.
- 1:00:28They're they're, they're probably closer to you know if
- 1:00:32you put the you put the numbers in there, over the course of a
- 1:00:35full season, you're probably looking at a defense in the 40s
- 1:00:39or 50s, Not kind of where their ranking right now with that a
- 1:00:44larger game in place. So you know what, we will see.
- 1:00:48I know we're about to talk about what the Hokies are going to
- 1:00:50have to do here to kind of counter what they bring to the
- 1:00:53table. So and we absolutely have to
- 1:00:56talk about it to Zeta version. We've continued to move on and
- 1:01:01on, we're going to look at the defense first Prime because when
- 1:01:05a team coming is coming in scoring this much.
- 1:01:08Moving the ball at will having some weaknesses.
- 1:01:12But not having a significant weakness, like we felt Notre
- 1:01:16Dame had problems with the offensive line.
- 1:01:18We saw it rear chatterley, but mugger in.
- 1:01:22It changed the dynamic. But I think what we're going to
- 1:01:26start with here is, although he has some athleticism, there is
- 1:01:30no way, Kenny pick, it is going to run as much as Buckner did
- 1:01:34for success for having our defensive end Pace him.
- 1:01:38So we are coming out and saying we got to put Kenny up and pick
- 1:01:43it on his fucking ass. A minimum of 10 times hitting
- 1:01:47him dip. Minimum got to hit him 10 times.
- 1:01:52I'd like to see at least four sacks that would be a good
- 1:01:55number to start with it. Like I said, it's hard to get to
- 1:02:00him, we got jehan's going to have to dial up, something a
- 1:02:05little creative and hopefully early on.
- 1:02:07We can at least get some pressure with four and then kind
- 1:02:10of mix up some of the blitzes as we go along there too.
- 1:02:13When they start to adjust to that, All right, so put Kenny
- 1:02:18down. Now the next one we talked about
- 1:02:21the Run game, Brian. Brought the point that pick it
- 1:02:24as part of that run game but they're still getting 140 yards
- 1:02:27from a couple guys which is still not too terrible.
- 1:02:29Especially the way they're passing the ball and I think I
- 1:02:35know we didn't put a number on this brine, if they run the ball
- 1:02:3830 times, they can't crack 110. We have to keep it in that mid
- 1:02:45three. If they're a virgin for Carrie
- 1:02:49it's going to get ugly. Yeah.
- 1:02:51Because if they're able to complement their paths attack
- 1:02:54with a rushing attack that can get them in short, you know,
- 1:02:58secondly manageable third manageable situations that's
- 1:03:01going to let Kenny Pickett really have his option of who to
- 1:03:04throw to. We need to keep them behind the
- 1:03:06sticks. And, you know, we want to make
- 1:03:09them as one-dimensional as possible.
- 1:03:12I know there. Strength is throwing the ball
- 1:03:15around, but if we can take away the run that strength, becomes a
- 1:03:19little bit less, so that's going to be.
- 1:03:22The goal is to make sure we contain that rushing attack and
- 1:03:25make any pick it have to beat us.
- 1:03:28Yeah, and that's what we're looking for, you know?
- 1:03:32By having that semblance of a Russian attack.
- 1:03:35You know, pick is averaging about 12 and attempt if they
- 1:03:40keep the Russian attack it's definitely going to be twelve.
- 1:03:42Maybe even more the way things have worked the last few weeks.
- 1:03:46But if you can tell me that he's at like between eight and nine
- 1:03:50and that's only to my says that's only three yards but when
- 1:03:53you throw it as much as they've thrown at this year, you know,
- 1:03:56where they're throwing it close to 35 times a game that's 100.
- 1:04:03Also, the more we can put them in situations where they're
- 1:04:07passing on obvious passing Downs.
- 1:04:09Oh yeah. That means we can, we can come
- 1:04:11at them. We can make play calls that are
- 1:04:14specific for that type of play. And that's why it's important to
- 1:04:18get behind. You keep them behind the sticks
- 1:04:21if you get them and you know, second and ten second and eight.
- 1:04:26If we can do that consistently they're going to have to start
- 1:04:28throwing the ball on those Downs that we're going to be able to
- 1:04:32adjust according Ali and either bring some sort of Blitz in or
- 1:04:37we can definitely pin your ears back a little bit more than we
- 1:04:39would, if we were in like a second and five second and for
- 1:04:42situation, absolutely another one, Brian you put this on here.
- 1:04:45And after talking about Mac, reading about macron about
- 1:04:49Addison, we've got to tackle, I don't think we can afford to
- 1:04:55tackle like we did last week because I think these guys
- 1:05:00Because they're much more receivers than running backs.
- 1:05:04They have potential go, big play.
- 1:05:07Yeah, yeah. If we don't wrap them up and
- 1:05:10they get into space, they've got the speed to turn it into a home
- 1:05:14run. So limit, the run after the
- 1:05:16catch, and that means tackling, we can't see what we saw.
- 1:05:23Especially in the Red Zone last week against Notre Dame, having
- 1:05:28three tackles on a, on a single Three B, tackles on the single
- 1:05:31play, got to wrap up. Got to get guys to the dirt.
- 1:05:36If we can do that, then we at least limit the the big play
- 1:05:40potential of that offense. Yep.
- 1:05:44Alright, the last piece here, Braun, I've been talking to you
- 1:05:48about it. We are literally the worst team
- 1:05:52in the country in the Red Zone. If you get in the Red Zone
- 1:05:56against us, you score touchdowns You score touchdowns 8 out of 3
- 1:06:02times 8 out of 11 times, the clothes, 20% of the time you're
- 1:06:06getting it in. We haven't stopped anybody.
- 1:06:10Christine 411, we haven't even blocked a field goal, doorstop
- 1:06:12field goals. this is if it doesn't change this week, I
- 1:06:17mean, You know, there's no chance.
- 1:06:23Yeah I think that's that's the big thing is that we we our
- 1:06:28defense has shown such significant Improvement that
- 1:06:32it's sad that we're seeing that one statistic be so glaring
- 1:06:36right now. Yes, it is.
- 1:06:38It seems like as soon as they get in the Red Zone, we forget
- 1:06:41how to tackle forget how to cover.
- 1:06:45And it's getting a little, a little silly, and I'm not so
- 1:06:50much concerned about, you know, getting turnovers here blocking
- 1:06:55kicks. I just want, if you just flip or
- 1:06:59bring that, bring that touchdown to field goal ratio at least
- 1:07:03closer to that. 50% Mark, if not better, that, I'd be fine with
- 1:07:08that. I think if you told me we were,
- 1:07:11you know, five touchdowns six field, goals or six, touchdowns,
- 1:07:15five field goals, I'd feel okay about it but we're about to
- 1:07:19About three touchdowns worse than we should be.
- 1:07:22We got it. We had a force them to kick
- 1:07:24three more often when they get in the scoring area.
- 1:07:27Well, if it was flipped completely Brian and it was
- 1:07:30eight field goals, three touchdowns, I'd be celebrating
- 1:07:32that number. Yeah.
- 1:07:33Yeah. When you get down here, cool,
- 1:07:36you're going to score on us about 20% of the time for
- 1:07:41touchdowns every other time, you're going to be kicking free.
- 1:07:44Well, it would go back into the Mantra of the bend don't break
- 1:07:47that. We've done a really good job at
- 1:07:49Between the 20s. We just need to do a better job
- 1:07:52inside the 20. All right, let's flip it over to
- 1:07:55the offense. Brian.
- 1:07:57And again the version we've got to see.
- 1:08:01We did not break 30 last week. Even with the defensive
- 1:08:04touchdowns, even with five scoring drives five, we did not
- 1:08:11break 30. I don't think we can win this
- 1:08:14game in the terms. Now, we've got at least get to
- 1:08:1730. Preferably morbid.
- 1:08:20Mid-30s is probably where we're going to at least have to get
- 1:08:24against this pit team. And it's going to take a little
- 1:08:29bit of different things to get there.
- 1:08:30The, I think, the first thing is that we need to run the ball
- 1:08:33somewhat effectively early in the game and then use that
- 1:08:36rushing attack to lengthen, the game limit, the time that you're
- 1:08:39going to give Kenny Pickett to score.
- 1:08:42And if if your defense is doing what it should do and that is go
- 1:08:44occasionally, forcing some field goals, then you're working with
- 1:08:48something there because you shorten the game.
- 1:08:52And you've made it so that Kenny pick.
- 1:08:54It has to be more perfect than he's used to being because he's
- 1:08:57not touching the ball very much. The other thing we need to do is
- 1:09:01get Braxton comfortable in the short passing game and play
- 1:09:05action early. And that starts with that
- 1:09:07rushing attack, man. Yeah.
- 1:09:09And right now we're not running the ball.
- 1:09:11Good at all. We did get creative with Trail.
- 1:09:14A couple sweets D plays like that but overall, I running game
- 1:09:19less be be scrambling. And getting great gangs, we
- 1:09:24don't have an effective rushing attack and, and, and I don't
- 1:09:29know if it's, I mean, a last week, quarterbacks running the
- 1:09:33ball 17 times compared to 24, multiple running backs.
- 1:09:38If we're this deep into season and they haven't decided on who
- 1:09:42the two or three backs. Are they brought Malachi up, the
- 1:09:46freshman and I'm fine with that. But it's like we're we can't get
- 1:09:51production. Rahim, black chairs, look like
- 1:09:53the best guy. I know what irritates you run
- 1:09:55that, they still cannot use him correctly because essentially
- 1:10:01they're struggling to use them correctly because the the end up
- 1:10:04having to use him as the primary lead bag and so many instances,
- 1:10:09So, and I get that if he's your most effective guy, you've got
- 1:10:14to use them there, but it's just sad that we haven't found
- 1:10:16someone. That is more effective between
- 1:10:18the tackles, and it's sad that our offensive line hasn't taken
- 1:10:21some of the strides. I thought they would take
- 1:10:23because I thought the offensive line would be okay this year, it
- 1:10:26especially in the Run game and we have not seen that.
- 1:10:32No, you know, we looked at, you know, pretty much a I didn't
- 1:10:37think we'd see much drop off in the interior and I thought that
- 1:10:41the tackles that we had at least in the Run game would be good
- 1:10:44enough to more or less be in the ballpark of last year just with
- 1:10:49the less Dynamic rushing attack from the actual running back
- 1:10:52position because we knew we weren't getting a Herbert type
- 1:10:56player at running back this year.
- 1:10:59We knew that we do. The Blackshear has other
- 1:11:02abilities that are that are beneficial to the offense but he
- 1:11:06I'm going to put out the type of rushing attack in the outside
- 1:11:10Zone and the running game is a hole that we saw from Herbert
- 1:11:14but we haven't. That means offensive line just
- 1:11:17has not played a four-quarter, good game yet well and we seen
- 1:11:22flashes here and there, we've seen Quarters here and there but
- 1:11:25again they're not putting it together and it almost comes to
- 1:11:29a point. You want to question Vance, Vice
- 1:11:31of rotating guys, where you're almost sitting there.
- 1:11:34It's like when you have a successful quarter just like Let
- 1:11:36that ride don't you don't because it goes back to the old,
- 1:11:44the old, you know, the pieces of well it's this guy's turn to run
- 1:11:48the ball. Well, the other Jag just went
- 1:11:51his last two drives. Had eight carries for 40 yards.
- 1:11:55I wouldn't take him out right now unless he was a breather.
- 1:11:58It's not even game Flow specific either.
- 1:12:01Like that's, you know, if if you get a lead on a team and you put
- 1:12:04in your like Caden more or a Silas at a certain position guys
- 1:12:12that you know or more road graders than they are
- 1:12:15necessarily Elite pass protectors then.
- 1:12:18At least, you know, your kind of catering to the game Flow.
- 1:12:21Yeah, that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is just
- 1:12:25kind of throwing guys out there to see what works.
- 1:12:27We're in. We're going and there are six
- 1:12:29Game of the Year. This should have been figured
- 1:12:32out by now, and we've only had really one injury to dictate
- 1:12:36any. Sort of shuffling, well, swing
- 1:12:38it elephants were one game and Silas was back against Notre
- 1:12:43Dame's. So absolutely figure out your
- 1:12:46best five and only sub. If it is game Flow specific, if
- 1:12:52we're if we're behind and we're dropping back a lot.
- 1:12:55Absolutely. Get your best five pass
- 1:12:57protectors out there and, you know, vice versa, if we get up
- 1:13:01and we're trying to grind the game out, but don't just keep
- 1:13:05switching lineups. Rather drive to see what's
- 1:13:08working. I mean, we were either what up,
- 1:13:13or close to close to being up and pretty much the duration of
- 1:13:18the Notre Dame game. There was no, there was not a
- 1:13:20game Flow situation, where it said we should be subbing
- 1:13:24offensive lineman in and out. None, none whatsoever.
- 1:13:28And talk about all you talked about the offensive line in
- 1:13:31general, but I'm going to flip it back the passing game because
- 1:13:36we saw some elements of that short and mid-range game last
- 1:13:40Saturday work that when we were actually driving the ball,
- 1:13:44that's where the successes were. And I know your big thing is
- 1:13:47getting comfortable, get him comfortable, but Brian, you've
- 1:13:50also mentioned as much as we need to get that play action
- 1:13:52going. Looking at the tape, we can't
- 1:13:56sit there and try to drive the ball 15 plays every time we've
- 1:14:00got and I mean, everyone's yeah, and the way they go outside,
- 1:14:04it's very much similar to what But Bud used to do.
- 1:14:07They are going to get up on you, it's going to be some man or
- 1:14:10some Kind of that press Cover 3, they're going to, we're going to
- 1:14:16have some opportunities to take some shots down the field.
- 1:14:20And we need to take those, there's going to be one on one
- 1:14:23situations. There's going to be a couple of
- 1:14:25free release situations. We've got to not be afraid to
- 1:14:29press the ball downfield when they give it to us and we got to
- 1:14:32complete those passes. All right?
- 1:14:34So there's the version of what we feel like needs to happen for
- 1:14:38the Hokies to win. And now it's our prediction time
- 1:14:42Brian Braun last week you led. So I'm going to leave this week
- 1:14:45and as much as I want to win this game because the last Last
- 1:14:50game mean you went to at Lane, stadium was fit in 2019 in the
- 1:14:5428-nothing when how Narducci has acted throughout his time at
- 1:15:00Pitt? He acts a lot of time like a
- 1:15:02petulant child on the sidelines he's talking shit.
- 1:15:05Again about jumping off side so he does he does not believe car
- 1:15:08may exist man. He re yeah he jumped I mean last
- 1:15:13time he said that they jumped off three times and that game we
- 1:15:15were it walks in there and rain so blamed I what backed out of
- 1:15:19me It was like what 52? Yeah somewhere 50 50 to 55
- 1:15:23somewhere in that range. Yeah, it was it was a rainy one
- 1:15:27and but but I can't go with this Prime.
- 1:15:33We're sewing instance, do on offense.
- 1:15:36They have a good offense. Our defense is good.
- 1:15:40Is it Elite know if it was a lead?
- 1:15:42We have I'd probably flip this. We had a good defense on Elite
- 1:15:46defense. I offenses inconsistent.
- 1:15:49It basically, bottom third bottom quarter of the entire
- 1:15:53country and I think probably it's going to come down to just
- 1:15:58them getting one extra score and I'm going 3427.
- 1:16:05Yeah, and I'm pretty much right there with you.
- 1:16:07In terms of the point differential I'm a little bit
- 1:16:10lower on both teams. I think our defense probably
- 1:16:13plays one of the better games, especially considering the
- 1:16:15competition this year. I think the final is going to be
- 1:16:193124 pit because I don't think that the offense does enough on
- 1:16:24capitalizing on some of the shots we can take down field.
- 1:16:27Yeah, I think we do enough moving the football to get
- 1:16:31probably at least three scoring drives.
- 1:16:35And then, can I say this? I don't think it's going to be
- 1:16:37last year. No, no, no, I think the
- 1:16:40combination of this defense being better and it being in
- 1:16:44Lane. I think that alone kind of puts
- 1:16:46this in a closer match. Ouch up than what we saw last
- 1:16:50year. Yeah.
- 1:16:51If you told me this was in Hinds, I would, I would say, I
- 1:16:55could go at least six to six to ten points higher on the
- 1:17:00differential layer. But in I'll say this, if you ask
- 1:17:04us well what has to happen in this game from the wind will
- 1:17:06consistency and offense the scoring Drive.
- 1:17:09Some last week, we had if we see that 80% of the time, we have a
- 1:17:13chance, but my big One's Gonna Be this I think we have to be
- 1:17:20plus 2. Turnover differential, plus 2 in
- 1:17:24the turnover differential. We were plus 2, and it's going
- 1:17:27to be hard to force that it's going to be hard to force that.
- 1:17:32Can he pick? It, doesn't turn the ball over
- 1:17:33very much. I think the opportunity we might
- 1:17:35have to get him to turn the ball over is probably going to be you
- 1:17:39know, either one of those good Breaks by Jermaine or Armani on
- 1:17:43the outside or if we can get somebody into the backfield and
- 1:17:48get a you know, a sack fumble, he is up.
- 1:17:51He has a propensity to When he gets back to let go of the ball
- 1:17:54so maybe that can happen. All right, Brian, let's go ahead
- 1:18:00and take a look at the 10 additional games.
- 1:18:02This Saturday, pick them current record, Braun had a miserable
- 1:18:06weekend, goes to games under 30, and 32, I had my best weekend of
- 1:18:11the year. I'm now four games over at 33
- 1:18:13and 29 and I'm on a lead. Let's start Friday night in the
- 1:18:17ACC in the dome run. Syracuse Clemson Clemson is
- 1:18:23laying 13 and a half points. This isn't legal limit but the
- 1:18:27way Clemson has played all year and the waist excuses, played
- 1:18:32both on the road and at home. There.
- 1:18:37I don't know what Vegas is on and I know they build hotels
- 1:18:40every day because people that it, but I cannot see, Clemson,
- 1:18:44probably wins the game outright, but it's going to be an absolute
- 1:18:47grind Fest but I'll give me cues.
- 1:18:50I'll take the 13 to have points. I'm right with you.
- 1:18:55I think you've got Carrier Dome + improved.
- 1:18:58Rushing attack, + above average defense for Syracuse, I think, I
- 1:19:04think that's enough. If to keep this game under two
- 1:19:07touchdowns just because I haven't seen enough from
- 1:19:10Clemson's offense to know that they're able to pull away from
- 1:19:12anybody. So yeah.
- 1:19:14You begin the over-under in the over unders 45 and you split
- 1:19:19that out and take the 13 away. That's a 32.
- 1:19:22They're saying this is going to be like Clemson 36:16.
- 1:19:28Yeah, Clemson 30. No Clemson getting 30 opening,
- 1:19:34getting the 30, they probably win the game 27:17.
- 1:19:38All right, let's go to the 12:30 kick in the ACC.
- 1:19:42Braun Duke goes to Charlottesville was and UVA.
- 1:19:47UVA is the 11-point. Favorite will say you on this
- 1:19:51one. Man, Duke 10 be some favors last
- 1:19:58week. Give me UVA.
- 1:20:07All right. Give me UVA.
- 1:20:10I think they're going to be able to score enough points.
- 1:20:12I think Duke is going to be a little inconsistent on offense
- 1:20:16and probably not have enough on defense to compensate.
- 1:20:19That's about where I am to 69z over under total and they're
- 1:20:26saying juice going to score some points, but not enough points to
- 1:20:30keep with UVA. And I'm with them.
- 1:20:32I see it. Probably two touchdown game
- 1:20:34probably somewhere like 4530. Yeah, you know, somewhere in
- 1:20:39that neighborhood. Ugh.
- 1:20:39But I'm taking UVA in this one, too.
- 1:20:41We're essentially saying uva's offense against Dukes.
- 1:20:44Defense is going to be more consistent than you call.
- 1:20:48Police offense. Against UVA is defense even
- 1:20:49though I'll bad. Evas defense has overall,
- 1:20:53probably the over the over, would probably be a better than
- 1:20:57this one because both the defenses aren't good.
- 1:20:59Both the defenses are easily given up 30 a game on the field,
- 1:21:05right? Interesting.
- 1:21:05Matchup ranked. North Carolina.
- 1:21:07State goes up. To Boston College.
- 1:21:11They are a three-point Road favorite.
- 1:21:16And in, this is the one I've just been looking at since I've
- 1:21:20laid these out on Tuesday. Brian, and I go back and forth
- 1:21:25and it is as good as NC state has played at times this year.
- 1:21:31They've also had some Clunkers of games.
- 1:21:35And being on the road. This is going to be a 7:30 night
- 1:21:41kick Boston College four and one I think I'm going to take the
- 1:21:46home dog here. I'm going to take BC, I don't
- 1:21:49know if BC wins the game but I think it's going to be tight
- 1:21:52enough where BC is going to cover the three.
- 1:21:56So I'm going to take BC 3 All right, I'm going to make up some
- 1:22:01ground on you here. I'm going in Sea State and I
- 1:22:05think that's going to be that's going to be a great environment
- 1:22:07for that game, but I will go with NC State here.
- 1:22:12I think they've got enough juice to pull it out.
- 1:22:16Probably just, it's not, it's going to be close to probably
- 1:22:18gonna be about a touchdown game, but I think it's more it more
- 1:22:20than the three. All right, over Underwood's. 52
- 1:22:24on that one. So if you're right handed in
- 1:22:28your head, all right, there we go.
- 1:22:29Look at the Two, biggest frauds. Fraud alert to think is frogs in
- 1:22:37the country. Miami travels to UNC for A330
- 1:22:42kick that somehow is still on going to be on what mother
- 1:22:47moving to ACC Network. I thought they were having it on
- 1:22:49ABC, but North Carolina, Lane seven points on this one.
- 1:22:53Brian. What do you think between on
- 1:22:56this game? I'm gonna go UNC and it's solely
- 1:22:59because of the dear King news. And just, I feel like that's
- 1:23:03going to be deflating for that team overall.
- 1:23:07I think they're going to come out a little, huh?
- 1:23:09Dover and UNC is going to be able to jump on them enough
- 1:23:12early where that's going to carry throughout the game.
- 1:23:15Yeah, I'm with you. I think you and see wins this
- 1:23:18game and I think UNC wins this game, big.
- 1:23:21I don't think this is going to be like a tight game.
- 1:23:26We saw how Miami at times with here, King, not on the field has
- 1:23:31struggled to score UVA, took him a while to get going against one
- 1:23:35of the worst defenses in the country.
- 1:23:38They pretty much could do anything against Michigan State.
- 1:23:41They got held under 20 and I know UNC does not have a great
- 1:23:44defense, but the way Miami's defense has just basically
- 1:23:48hemorrhaged points all year. I think this is like a 17-point
- 1:23:53game, I think same house slings it around, they win like 3821,
- 1:23:59give me Miami or give me um see on that one.
- 1:24:02All right, Brian, let's go out of conference.
- 1:24:04Kind of a big ranked match up of the day in the Big 12.
- 1:24:10Take a look at High Noon, Texas and Oklahoma State at Texas in
- 1:24:15Austin, Texas, Lane five and a half points after blowing the
- 1:24:20ungodly. The lead to Oklahoma and Kaleb
- 1:24:24Williams last week. Where you're on this one man.
- 1:24:29I see this as a Texas hangover man, I think I think Oklahoma
- 1:24:34state does enough to kind of shell-shocked them, a little bit
- 1:24:38out, the gate. I think they come out a little
- 1:24:40flat after last week, and they probably fight back, but
- 1:24:44probably not enough to bring it, bring it under that, that five
- 1:24:47and a half. So I'll take okey State here.
- 1:24:50All right. I'm kind of with you on that.
- 1:24:53Okey state has played three scary solid opponents in Boise,
- 1:24:57in Kansas State, and in Baylor, and they meet the last two by
- 1:25:05double digits. I don't think the Texas crowds
- 1:25:09going to have that big. I'm wondering how many people
- 1:25:11even be there especially after the loss last week and given
- 1:25:14five and a half points. I think is enough to make that
- 1:25:18cover. So I'm going to go with you with
- 1:25:19okey state. And yeah, now let's look at the
- 1:25:25second Big 12 game we've got on here to Big 12 games, were
- 1:25:28actually looking to, hopefully, find fun offense where BYU the
- 1:25:32ranked team goes down to Baylor, and Baylor, the home unranked
- 1:25:38team laying six and a half points.
- 1:25:41We're on this one. Brian!
- 1:25:43A BYU just a few short weeks ago was inching towards the top 10
- 1:25:48and after the After the loss to Boise by nine points.
- 1:25:53In Provo, they somehow stayed in the top 20 at 19.
- 1:26:00And I like, what Dave Aranda is got going on at Baylor, really
- 1:26:06good defensive coach, the Okie State game was close, they lost
- 1:26:09by 10. Normally, you know, Dundee's
- 1:26:12have it has a solid offense and I think BYU's going to take
- 1:26:16another loss. And I think Baby.
- 1:26:20Justin for one day's going to regret his decision.
- 1:26:22Not leaving but I am Italian. Give me Baylor, latest, six and
- 1:26:30a half points. Baylor wins by 7.
- 1:26:37I'm gonna go be why you here. I think this is this is one of
- 1:26:42the ones I've been kind of waffling back and forth on, but
- 1:26:44I think this one comes down to the wire.
- 1:26:47I can see a field goal winning this game late.
- 1:26:50So I'll take BYU here. All right, just a few more to
- 1:26:55pick. Let's go to Cincinnati in the
- 1:27:01Gus Malzahn, UCF. Golden knights coming to town,
- 1:27:06to face the Cincinnati. And Have you seen this line yet?
- 1:27:12I'm not sure yeah, but 120 121. I mean, I like Cincinnati and
- 1:27:19everything. I think so.
- 1:27:20Now, he's going to win this game.
- 1:27:21I think 20 once, just way way too much to play, because
- 1:27:25anything Malzahn, even against good defense has has been known
- 1:27:30to manufacture points. Yep, I just think 21 is way way
- 1:27:35too much if it was like 17. I think I take, I think I take
- 1:27:41Sensi, but three touchdowns Give me give me UCF in the points.
- 1:27:50I'm gonna go with UCF as well. I like Cynthia lot, I just think
- 1:27:54that's too much in a game that matters for both of these teams
- 1:27:59big time in terms of both big picture and Conference.
- 1:28:06So I'm going to take UCF, I think they keep it closer than
- 1:28:09the 21. Obviously, I still think it's a
- 1:28:12pretty Start to finish when force in C but it's not one that
- 1:28:19ever gets out of hand. Alright.
- 1:28:22Alright, next team we got here. There is no spread Braun for
- 1:28:27Pac-12 after dark, pick up, Arizona State and Utah is a
- 1:28:33straight pick on that line had been at like two and one and
- 1:28:37finally got down to a pick them a little earlier today.
- 1:28:41What do you think on this one? Brian.
- 1:28:43You're going with the the ranked team, the rink, Arizona Sun
- 1:28:47Devils at 5 and 1 or the home team Utah at 3 & 2.
- 1:28:57I kind of I'm leaving Arizona State but something about going
- 1:29:00going into Utah is giving me pause so you know you play to
- 1:29:08win the game so I'm going to go Zone a state-owned Arizona,
- 1:29:11State play to win the game. All right, well Ron I am going
- 1:29:19to completely flip this on you. Not so fast.
- 1:29:22Utah's two losses are two, ranked teams in Off to BYU by 9,
- 1:29:27which we watched that game late. You have the usually Utah kind
- 1:29:31of pissed it away. And then, Austin, San Diego
- 1:29:35State out of the Mountain West, who is ranked 24 and undefeated,
- 1:29:38they lost them by two points. I really think that Utah.
- 1:29:46This is like a game were calling him.
- 1:29:48It looks like he's going to lose any wins.
- 1:29:49Every year, they coming off a blowout, win of USC, and then
- 1:29:54after in a wind, over y Zu, the week before.
- 1:29:57Give me that home field, give me Utah straight up.
- 1:30:02All right, all right, back to the SEC for the last to the
- 1:30:07first one. As we've all been doing keeping
- 1:30:10an eye on pintle hook. Tennessee.
- 1:30:13He starts the gauntlet for him to see if the numbers are real
- 1:30:18or if just a competition of what it was.
- 1:30:22They go play Ole Miss in man, the first thing I noticed on
- 1:30:27this game. Brian the over-under, you're
- 1:30:29ready for it. Shoot the over under this game
- 1:30:34is 82 and a half, okay? I was gonna say it's somewhere
- 1:30:37around 80 so I was ready to pull apart-er.
- 1:30:39Have this spread is Is Ole Miss Lane two and a half points.
- 1:30:46So they're saying this game is going to be over 40.
- 1:30:52As much as I love hindon. And as much as I love Tennessee.
- 1:30:58I don't think they're going to be able to keep up with Kevin's
- 1:31:02offense with Matt Correll. And that group, I think it's
- 1:31:06competitive. I'm really think looking at
- 1:31:08Saturday night. That might be the game to watch
- 1:31:15of all the ranked teams again, is going to kick it 7:30 and
- 1:31:19it's going to be an absolute shootout.
- 1:31:20I think Ole Miss wins 52-42. So I will take Ole Miss and lay
- 1:31:27the two points. All right.
- 1:31:33We're going to, we're going to differ here.
- 1:31:34I think. Tennessee pulls.
- 1:31:35This one out. I think they have just enough on
- 1:31:39defense to Keep Ole Miss from completely blowing their doors
- 1:31:44off. I think in and comes up with a
- 1:31:45little magic late, I think this is an outright win by Tennessee.
- 1:31:49It's going to come down to the wire though.
- 1:31:52All right, well, I'm taking the two with the home team gopala.
- 1:31:56Tennessee moneyline Tennessee. Put his part of his report of
- 1:32:03your parlay this week. Alright.
- 1:32:07Yeah. Alright, last game is Kentucky,
- 1:32:10Georgia, big game of the day, two ranked teams Kentucky.
- 1:32:15Number one in the country, in Georgia number of, excuse me.
- 1:32:19Kentucky 11 in the country. Mark, Stoops has Georgia Roland.
- 1:32:23I've told a buddy, my buddy, Mike and work the other day.
- 1:32:26If Mark, Stoops wants to after this season ends, you need big.
- 1:32:30Position open. He could probably go get.
- 1:32:33He's 54 years old. He's been in the coaching game
- 1:32:36for 30 years. He seen it all.
- 1:32:38He obviously he's been a Kentucky.
- 1:32:43Since let me get it. I think he's been a Kentucky
- 1:32:46since 13. Yeah, that's Mike Stoops.
- 1:32:54Mark Stoops, he's been a Kentucky since 13.
- 1:32:57And obviously what he's done in Kentucky is crazy, he's five
- 1:33:02games over 500 with that program.
- 1:33:04If they have to be see with some 10-win seasons and 81 seasons.
- 1:33:11And obviously he was with his brother when they won a national
- 1:33:14title. I think he can go wherever he
- 1:33:19wants and in this game, Brian, the line is Georgia laying 23
- 1:33:27points. What do you say?
- 1:33:32Yeah, I like Georgia a lot. I don't like them that much and
- 1:33:38I think you know, Kentucky has played some good football this
- 1:33:41year and as you said consist, I mean they've been in you know
- 1:33:46say what you will about them historically but Kentucky since
- 1:33:492013 since Mark Stoops has been there has been a better overall
- 1:33:52program that were jigna Tech and they have it's crazy to say that
- 1:33:56shit but you know it's true and I just I think they keep it
- 1:34:00closer than The 23 and a half or was aligned towards anyone
- 1:34:04worried 24, three touchdowns. Yeah, we'll go.
- 1:34:08I can't, I can't put that much out there.
- 1:34:11That's way too much and I'm trying to see if Jay to Daniel's
- 1:34:14is back this week. Give me a second here.
- 1:34:22I want to just see if maybe this is what's doing it.
- 1:34:29If you see some brown, I'm trying to get it here.
- 1:34:33All right, even if he was back I still couldn't like 24 in his
- 1:34:36first game back. Give me Kentucky, give me the
- 1:34:39all the points everything because I think that's just way
- 1:34:45too much Stoops has a good enough defense, I think you'll
- 1:34:48keep it a grind Fest. I think Georgia pulls away a
- 1:34:50little late and it's probably like a 31:14 game but nowhere
- 1:34:54near the 24. You're talking about Brian
- 1:34:57anything. Broken over the last hour and a
- 1:35:00half I'm not seeing anything fun.
- 1:35:06Everything looks pretty, pretty low-key, man.
- 1:35:08All right, everything's low-key. All right.
