- 0:01In a divine retreat from mortal thought, in a prodigious gesture
- 0:07of soul sight his being towered into pathless heights, naked of
- 0:13its vesture of humanity, as thus it rose to meet him, bare and
- 0:19pure. A strong descent leaped down a
- 0:22mite, a flame, a beauty half visible with deathless eyes, a
- 0:28violent ecstasy. The sweetness dire enveloped him
- 0:32with its stupendous limbs, and penetrated nerve and heart and
- 0:37brain that thrilled and fainted with the epiphany.
- 0:43His nature shuddered in the unknown's grasp.
- 0:47In a moment shorter than death, longer than time, by a power
- 0:52more ruthless than love, happier than heaven, taken sovereignly
- 0:58into eternal arms, hailed and coerced by a stark absolute
- 1:03bliss in a whirlwind circuit of delight and force.
- 1:09Hurried into unimaginable depths, upborne into
- 1:13immeasurable heights, it was torn out from its mortality, and
- 1:18underwent a new and born less change, an omniscient knowing
- 1:24without sight or thought, an indecipherable omnipotence, a
- 1:29Mystic form that could contain the world's yet make one human
- 1:35breast. Its passionate shrine drew him
- 1:39out of his seeking loneliness into the magnitudes of God's
- 1:43embrace, as when a timeless eye annuls the hours, abolishing the
- 1:51agent and the ACT. So now his spirits shone out
- 1:55wide blank, pure. His wakened mind became an empty
- 2:02slate on which the universal and soul could write.
- 2:07All that represses our fallen consciousness was taken from him
- 2:10like a forgotten load. A fire that seemed the body of a
- 2:15God consumed the limiting figures of the past, and made
- 2:20large room for a new self to live.
- 2:24Eternity's contact broke the moulds of sense, a greater force
- 2:29than the earthly held his limbs. Huge workings bared his
- 2:33undiscovered sheaths. Strange energies wrought and
- 2:40screened, tremendous hands unwound the triple cord of mind,
- 2:45and freed the heavenly wideness of a godhead's gaze as through a
- 2:50dress. The wearer shape is seen there,
- 2:54reached through forms to the hidden absolute, a cosmic
- 2:59feeling and transcendent sight. Increased and heightened were
- 3:04the instruments. Illusion lost her aggrandizing
- 3:08lens, as from her failing hand the measures fell.
- 3:12Atomic looked the things that loomed so large the little ego's
- 3:17ring could join no more in the enormous spaces of the self.
- 3:23The body now seemed only a wandering shell, his mind the
- 3:27many frescoed outer court of an imperishable inhabitant.
- 3:33His spirit breathed the superhuman air.
- 3:37The imprisoned deity rent its magic fence as with a sound of
- 3:42Thunder and of seas. Vast barriers crashed around the
- 3:47huge escape, immutably coeval with the world circle and end of
- 3:52every hope and toil inexorably drawn round thought and act, The
- 3:58fixed immovable peripheries efface themselves beneath the
- 4:03incarnates tread the dire of a lamin and the bottomless crypt,
- 4:10between which life and thought forever move.
- 4:13Forbidden still to cross the dim dread bounds, the Guardian
- 4:18darknesses mute and formidable, empowered to circumscribe the
- 4:23wingless spirit in the boundaries of mind and ignorance
- 4:29protecting no more. A dual eternity vanished,
- 4:33rescinding their enormous role. Once figure of creation's vain
- 4:39ellipse, the expanding 0, lost its giant curve.
- 4:44The old adamantine vitoes stood no more.
- 4:48Overpowered were Earth and nature's obsolete rule.
- 4:53The Python coils of the restricting law could not
- 4:56restrain the swift arisen God. Abolished were the scripts of
- 5:01destiny. There was no small death haunted
- 5:04creature more no fragile form of being to preserve from an all
- 5:09swallowing immensity. The great hammer beats of a pent
- 5:13up world heart burst open the narrow dams that keep us safe
- 5:18against the forces of the universe.
- 5:20The soul and cosmos faced as equal powers.
- 5:24A boundless being in a measureless time invaded nature
- 5:29with the infinite he saw unpathed, unwalled his Titan
- 5:35scope.
