- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Actually a beautiful cool morning here and I got to admit
- 0:35it is lovely and I am enjoying the change in the weather.
- 0:38So today I want to give you a thought.
- 0:43I was talking to a client about a project that he wants to take
- 0:47on and he was telling me he's worried about the cost of the
- 0:50project and jumping in and doing it.
- 0:53And when I asked him if he felt that he had the money to cover
- 0:56the initial cost of going in and doing it, he said yes.
- 1:00And I said, OK, that's interesting.
- 1:02Then why are you worried about it?
- 1:03He said, well, what if it just turns out to be a waste of
- 1:05money? I think we've all had these
- 1:08thoughts about what if I'm just wasting my money?
- 1:10What if it's just something like that that's happening?
- 1:12I'm going to just put something into it.
- 1:14And what if it doesn't work? Well, I want to give you some
- 1:17food for thought. If you are worried about the
- 1:20cost of going for it and driving towards your outcomes and your
- 1:24goals, you can't imagine the cost of staying exactly where
- 1:29you are and not doing it because that's where the your your
- 1:35identity comes in. That's where you're, it will
- 1:38weigh on your soul for saying I never took a shot.
- 1:41I never actually took the shot. I never actually went.
- 1:45And I showed up at the court. I actually had the ball in my
- 1:49hands, but I never walked onto the court and I never played the
- 1:53game and I never took the shot. And that at the end of our
- 1:58lives, when we really concentrate and think about it
- 2:01and we say, well, where do I want to feel like at the end of
- 2:03end of our lives? Do I want to feel like I didn't
- 2:06take the shot? And that is a profound question
- 2:10to ask yourself. And not just when you're older,
- 2:13but throughout your life. Do I want to know that I
- 2:16actually gave myself a chance? Do I want to know I took the
- 2:19shot? Do I want to know that I, I felt
- 2:21like I could make a shift and do something?
- 2:25And for me, I have always been more of a risk taker and saying
- 2:29take the shot probably just because I had a lot of losses of
- 2:35people that I really loved throughout my life and I felt
- 2:37like they got robbed of doing things and I didn't want to have
- 2:42that happen. So I've always been very much a
- 2:45take the shot. And see, I mean, obviously
- 2:46recording a podcast from a chicken coop, that's taking a
- 2:49shot. You never know how people are
- 2:50going to take it. Lots of, you know, doing a
- 2:54coaching business, you never know how people are going to
- 2:56take it. Jumping in and working for Tony
- 2:58Robbins, you never know what that's going to be like.
- 3:00And I could have used a lot of my time because I was so anxiety
- 3:06ridden to worry about all of it. And did I have worried thoughts?
- 3:10Yes. But the thing that really
- 3:12changed for me was being able to say, well, what's the cost going
- 3:17to be? What, what, what, how am I going
- 3:18to feel if I don't do this? How am I going to feel if I
- 3:22don't take the shot, try to make the art, do the thing I wanted
- 3:25to do? I'm going to feel terrible that
- 3:27I didn't even make an attempt because I know I, I really want
- 3:32it. I know I can do it and I know I
- 3:33really want it. So the point of all of this
- 3:37today is to get you thinking about that part.
- 3:40Is there something that you know you would really love to be able
- 3:44to do and you're just not doing it because you're like, I don't
- 3:47know if it's worth my time or my money, but you know you want it,
- 3:51but you're just operating from that little pussy.
- 3:53What's the point? Why not take the shot?
- 3:55Because at the end of the day, when you're sitting there and
- 3:58you're older and you've got people around you and you're
- 4:01talking about the things that you did, that feels a hell of a
- 4:05lot better than talking about the things that you didn't do,
- 4:08the things you chose not to do. Because then you're just
- 4:10speaking in regret. And maybe you'll just be
- 4:12someone's example in that way. But I would prefer to be
- 4:16someone's example in a way about, damn, that girl left
- 4:19nothing on the table. And that's the outcome that I
- 4:23play with. I don't want to leave anything
- 4:25on the table. As I've said before, I am a
- 4:28child who grew up listening to Def Leppard talk about it's
- 4:32better to burn out than fade away, and I have no intention of
- 4:36doing anything but that. It is all about leaving it all
- 4:40on the table, getting better and better and better and aging like
- 4:44fine wine as opposed to allowing myself to be consumed by
- 4:47negative thoughts that Take Me Out no matter what.
- 4:51So I hope that this was helpful and I hope it kicks your butt to
- 4:55remember the price of not doing it is way higher than the price
- 4:59of doing it. All right my friends, I hope you
- 5:02have a blessed day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:04Bye.
