- 0:09Speaker 1: will charge. We're the one that has total We have
- 0:11Speaker 1: total control. You know, we have a thing called a
- 0:13Speaker 1: blockade with his navy, and that navy is they call
- 0:17Speaker 1: it a wall of steel, the United States a wall
- 0:19Speaker 1: of steel.
- 0:20Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Good Tuesday morning. Nice to have you with us on
- 0:26Speaker 3: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got two stories
- 0:29Speaker 3: for you. Donald Trump says Iran talks are underway right now,
- 0:33Speaker 3: calling the deal the last chance before decapitation. Second up,
- 0:38Speaker 3: the President also said that if Iran doesn't agree to
- 0:41Speaker 3: this deal, well then it's going to be an attack
- 0:44Speaker 3: that we haven't seen since World War Two. So what
- 0:48Speaker 3: happens next and who is behind this deal and getting
- 0:51Speaker 3: it done? We explain it all. It's the forty seven
- 0:54Speaker 3: Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 0:57Speaker 3: President Donald Trump on Monday said the negotiations with Iran
- 1:02Speaker 3: while they're already underway and calling the current talks Tehran's
- 1:07Speaker 3: last chance. His exact words before what he warned would
- 1:11Speaker 3: be a military campaign larger than any attack since World
- 1:15Speaker 3: War Two, while insisting he would rather pursue diplomacy than
- 1:20Speaker 3: authorize such a military operation. The President was speaking in
- 1:25Speaker 3: the Oval Office, and Trump said that he had delayed
- 1:27Speaker 3: the plan strikes after Iran, backed by Saudi Arabia and
- 1:31Speaker 3: the United Air of Immirates and Qatar, as well as
- 1:35Speaker 3: other regional countries, called and urged the President to give
- 1:38Speaker 3: diplomacy yet again another chance, the President saying this from
- 1:45Speaker 3: the Oval Office, Thank you very much.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Mister President. This is at least a fifth time you've
- 1:51Speaker 4: turned off air structions ton since even to negotiate. What
- 1:55Speaker 4: is your mississy American people who wandering loved has changed
- 1:58Speaker 4: this time?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Why should be again?
- 1:59Speaker 4: Well, you know, no, I don't know. I think we're
- 2:01Speaker 4: going to maybe get something, but I want to give
- 2:04Speaker 4: them every last chance before decapitation. Very tough to do.
- 2:09Speaker 4: What we have planned still planned. We'll see what happens,
- 2:13Speaker 4: but it's a very very tough thing to do. I
- 2:16Speaker 4: think I'm very proud of the fact that I will
- 2:20Speaker 4: give people, give people a chance. This is a big
- 2:22Speaker 4: move to do an attack that big on a contry,
- 2:26Speaker 4: and I'd rather not do it. And now we've already
- 2:29Speaker 4: through lots of large attacks, but they were normal large.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Hopefully they'll come to their senses because what happened. Cannot
- 2:40Speaker 4: have a nuclear weapon, but hopefully they'll come to their senses.
- 2:44Speaker 4: So they called me and they said, please don't attack.
- 2:47Speaker 4: We'll make a deal. That's the real truth. And everyone
- 2:52Speaker 4: knows it. And who wouldn't call And they found out
- 2:56Speaker 4: through leaks and sleeves bags. You know, a lot of
- 3:01Speaker 4: leakers should be put in jail. They should. They have
- 3:03Speaker 4: to strengthen up the laws for the leakers. But in
- 3:06Speaker 4: this case, leakers helped because they said the severity of
- 3:09Speaker 4: the attack.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Iran knew it, They knew what was coming. He was
- 3:15Speaker 4: going to come last night, and it would have gone
- 3:17Speaker 4: on for a long time and they'd be essentially very
- 3:22Speaker 4: little left. There'd be nothing left. And if I am
- 3:27Speaker 4: given a chance to let a lot of people live,
- 3:32Speaker 4: I want to give that chance.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Now, the President was pressed after that and why he
- 3:37Speaker 3: was again delaying threatening strikes after repeatedly holding off on
- 3:41Speaker 3: military action in recent weeks and now months. As you heard,
- 3:45Speaker 3: the President said, look, I want to give them every
- 3:48Speaker 3: last chance before decapitation. Now, Trump said he is still
- 3:54Speaker 3: on hold for major military operations, and he said he's
- 3:57Speaker 3: absolutely prepared if diplomacy yet again fails. He said, quote
- 4:03Speaker 3: very tough to do what we have planned, still plan.
- 4:07Speaker 3: We'll see what happens. Referring to what's next from Iran,
- 4:11Speaker 3: he also wanted to say, if I'm given a chance
- 4:13Speaker 3: to let a lot of people live, I want to
- 4:16Speaker 3: give them that chance. This is the opposite of what
- 4:19Speaker 3: the media and with the opposite of the left said.
- 4:22Speaker 3: They said the President was trying to start World War III,
- 4:24Speaker 3: he was willing to kill anybody. Obviously that's not true,
- 4:28Speaker 3: the President describing as a big move to do an
- 4:31Speaker 3: attack that big on a country, I'd rather not do
- 4:34Speaker 3: it yet again, the president showing peace through strength now.
- 4:38Speaker 3: President Trump also disputed Iran's claims that no US RAN
- 4:43Speaker 3: negotiations are taking place, saying discussions are already underway despite
- 4:48Speaker 3: Tehran's public denials, saying the talks are going on right now.
- 4:52Speaker 3: We are talking right now at the request of Iran,
- 4:55Speaker 3: back by Saudi Arabia, back by the UAE, and back
- 4:57Speaker 3: by Katar. The President was also asked about this last chance,
- 5:02Speaker 3: and the President described it this way. It's the last
- 5:04Speaker 3: chance for these people, the Iranians, to sign a good document.
- 5:08Speaker 4: I like saying that they're talking, so I say, we're
- 5:11Speaker 4: in talks, big deal, We're in talks, and they'll sometimes
- 5:15Speaker 4: deny it, even though they spent hours and hours together talking.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Now the talks are going along, we're going to hit
- 5:22Speaker 4: them very hard yesterday, very very hard, harder than any
- 5:27Speaker 4: attack I think I can say general from a point
- 5:31Speaker 4: of knowledge, any attack since World War Two. That's pretty big.
- 5:36Speaker 4: And we were set to go, and they called, and
- 5:38Speaker 4: in addition, Soudi Arabia call, and you you called, guitar call.
- 5:46Speaker 4: I call some numerous people. I don't want to use
- 5:49Speaker 4: the word begging, but some some work in particular Arend
- 5:54Speaker 4: did not want to be hit. And they said, we
- 5:56Speaker 4: want to talk. We want to talk about the straight
- 5:59Speaker 4: but more importantly, from my standpoint, we want to talk
- 6:03Speaker 4: about the denuclearization of Iran, because it's what it's all about.
- 6:07Speaker 4: This is why I'm doing this, and it should have
- 6:10Speaker 4: been done. So now fifty years we keep saying forty
- 6:12Speaker 4: seven years, but three years have gone by, But it's
- 6:15Speaker 4: for fifty years that other presidents should have been doing
- 6:19Speaker 4: what I or other countries didn't have to be us,
- 6:22Speaker 4: but other countries and nobody did it, and it was time,
- 6:25Speaker 4: and we hit them hard with the B two's more
- 6:28Speaker 4: than a year ago now, and that knocked out their
- 6:31Speaker 4: capability for their potential capability. And we've done a great job.
- 6:36Speaker 4: But when we talk, we say we're talking. If we're
- 6:39Speaker 4: not talking, when you ask me, no we're not talking,
- 6:41Speaker 4: I'll say it. But we are talking right now. We're talking,
- 6:44Speaker 4: and we're talking at the request of Iran, backed by
- 6:48Speaker 4: Saudi Arabia, back by UEE, and backed by Guitar in particular,
- 6:53Speaker 4: but other there's also many, many countries, called many. The
- 6:57Speaker 4: leaders of many up friendly with a lot of them,
- 6:59Speaker 4: almost all of them one way or the other, and
- 7:02Speaker 4: they all wanted to give this a last chance. This
- 7:05Speaker 4: is the last chance. This is not something that it
- 7:09Speaker 4: doesn't happen.
- 7:10Speaker 1: This is the last chance.
- 7:11Speaker 4: For them to sign a good document.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Now, the President added, the talks are going to go quickly,
- 7:19Speaker 3: one way or the other. The President outlined a two
- 7:22Speaker 3: stage framework for the negotiation, saying the immediate priorities is
- 7:27Speaker 3: reopening the straight uform news before broader talks on Iran's
- 7:30Speaker 3: nuclear program. The President saying we're talking about the opening
- 7:33Speaker 3: of the strait, having it open literally by tomorrow, completely open.
- 7:37Speaker 3: That's phase one, and then phase two is we will
- 7:41Speaker 3: talk about the nuclear the nuclearization of Iran and President
- 7:46Speaker 3: Trump also rejected any suggestion that Iran would be permitted
- 7:50Speaker 3: to impose those tariff fees on commercial shipping through the
- 7:54Speaker 3: Strategic Waterway as well. He said, I'm not letting them charge.
- 7:58Speaker 3: As you just heard now. Earlier in the day, Trump
- 8:01Speaker 3: sharply criticized Iran's leadership after the Iranian officials publicly, yet
- 8:06Speaker 3: again lied and denied the direct negotiations with Washington were
- 8:10Speaker 3: taking place. The President said, on true social Iranian leadership
- 8:15Speaker 3: is unbelievably duplicatous. They asked for a meeting, some would say,
- 8:19Speaker 3: beg talks begin with more schedule than the immediate future.
- 8:23Speaker 3: And they say openly and proudly they're not having any discussion,
- 8:27Speaker 3: that nothing is being talked about, and they're only dealing
- 8:31Speaker 3: with Oman trumbargaie that Iran was not only misrepresenting the
- 8:35Speaker 3: negotiations but also overstating its control over the Strait of
- 8:39Speaker 3: Hormus quote. They then go on to give their usual
- 8:42Speaker 3: blather and saying the Strait of Hormuves will be operated
- 8:45Speaker 3: powerfully by them when it is already completely controlled by
- 8:48Speaker 3: the United States Navy, he continued, writing, nothing gets through
- 8:53Speaker 3: to Iran unless we want it to, and nothing will
- 8:56Speaker 3: get through unless the deal or total surrender is accomplished.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Whether Iran once to admit it or not, we are
- 9:02Speaker 3: in fact talking of a solution to a problem that
- 9:06Speaker 3: they have caused for decades. It's very simple. Iran will
- 9:10Speaker 3: never have a nuclear weapon now. Of course, Iran continues
- 9:15Speaker 3: publicly to reject Trump's characterizations of the diplomacy. The Iranian
- 9:20Speaker 3: Foreign minister spokesman said Monday that Terran is not engaged
- 9:24Speaker 3: in direct negotiations with the United States and that its
- 9:27Speaker 3: current discussions are with Oman over arrangements for shipping through
- 9:31Speaker 3: the quote unquote straight of hermus We are not negotiating
- 9:35Speaker 3: with the United States at this time, he said during
- 9:37Speaker 3: his weekly press briefing, adding that issues involving Washington should
- 9:41Speaker 3: be examined in the next stages. They went on to
- 9:44Speaker 3: also say that the talks with them on are focused
- 9:46Speaker 3: on establishing a mutually acceptable shipping corridor through the Strategic Waterway,
- 9:51Speaker 3: rather than restoring navigation to its pre war status, while
- 9:56Speaker 3: maintaining that Iran would continue defending what it describes is
- 10:00Speaker 3: its sovereign rights in the Strait. And President Trump's remarks
- 10:04Speaker 3: also came after announced over the weekend that he canceled
- 10:07Speaker 3: plan strikes on Iran, after saying regional allies and you
- 10:11Speaker 3: heard him talk about this, we're begging for diplomacy to
- 10:15Speaker 3: have one more chance.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Now.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Speaking of Board Air Force one, Trump also said the
- 10:21Speaker 3: proposed operations, these military operations would have been quote the
- 10:25Speaker 3: biggest since World War Two, before he agreed to delay
- 10:28Speaker 3: it after the Allies urged him yet again to sit down,
- 10:32Speaker 3: and President Trump yet again reiterating another point, saying he
- 10:36Speaker 3: is under no time constraints to conclude the negotiations. He
- 10:41Speaker 3: emphasized Iran cannot be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon,
- 10:44Speaker 3: and he said, this is why I'm doing this. Iran
- 10:47Speaker 3: cannot have any nuclear weapons. So there's your update. This
- 10:52Speaker 3: is where we are. Things are changing quickly. Many may
- 10:56Speaker 3: hear this and say, weren't we just here weeks ago.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Absolutely we were. But the threat of major military action
- 11:03Speaker 3: is at its highest point so far, and now I
- 11:06Speaker 3: have to wait and watch and see what happens. Moving forward.
