- 1:49Speaker 3: her own life.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Oh no, what now? What? Well?
- 1:57Speaker 1: Before I ruin any one who enjoyed this movie, let's
- 2:01Speaker 1: talk into some news and notes about this movie.
- 2:04Speaker 3: All right, Okay, wait, can I just talk for a
- 2:07Speaker 3: second before we jump into news and notes? Of course,
- 2:11Speaker 3: was this weekend a stinker of weekend movies?
- 2:15Speaker 2: So I only watched one.
- 2:17Speaker 1: My husband was out of town this weekend, so I said,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm only going to watch the movie that we are reviewing.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I will save the rest for you. But I did hear.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Some chatter about Nantucket Noel, which I was very much
- 2:29Speaker 1: looking forward to, that maybe it wasn't great.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And I have yet to.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Watch a kiss before Christmas during Terry Hatcher and James Denton,
- 2:36Speaker 1: so I don't know.
- 2:37Speaker 2: There was some hope for me for that one. Did
- 2:40Speaker 2: you watch it? No?
- 2:41Speaker 3: I watched a little bit of Nantucket Noel and the
- 2:46Speaker 3: acting was not good, not good at all.
- 2:49Speaker 2: So bad.
- 2:51Speaker 3: The Terry Hatcher James Denton one, I haven't watched. I
- 2:54Speaker 3: do have it recorded. I haven't seen anything on like Twitter.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I haven't actually actively looked to see like the.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Review of it.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Yet.
- 3:00Speaker 1: This could be a good spot to bury the movies
- 3:02Speaker 1: right before we dive into all of the big name
- 3:06Speaker 1: movies everyone is looking forward to.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I just I can't believe that The Terry Hatcher James
- 3:12Speaker 3: Denton one could be as bad as like Nantucket Noel.
- 3:16Speaker 3: There's just no way. So maybe that was the star
- 3:19Speaker 3: of the weekend, But I don't know.
- 3:22Speaker 2: We shall find out.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, News and Notes, go for it.
- 3:26Speaker 1: This was filmed in British Columbia in the Vernon and
- 3:30Speaker 1: Okanagan regions, and let me tell you, those locals are
- 3:36Speaker 1: real proud to see some of their hometown spots in
- 3:39Speaker 1: this movie, including the Roxy Cafe, which was used as
- 3:42Speaker 1: a location of Megan's cafe. And I do not know
- 3:44Speaker 1: what her cafe was called.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I think it was called Roxy Cafe. I mean the
- 3:49Speaker 3: sign of how friend said Roxy Cafe.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Oh did it? Okay?
- 3:53Speaker 3: I think so. I mean I think I only noticed
- 3:55Speaker 3: because my dog's name is Roxy, So you know, I agree.
- 4:01Speaker 3: They were very excited to be like the townspeople were
- 4:05Speaker 3: happy that they were there, Like I had read some
- 4:08Speaker 3: stuff like they had a bunch of extras used and
- 4:10Speaker 3: blah blah blah whatever. This movie was previously titled Christmas
- 4:15Speaker 3: Alone Together, and I gotta say I like that title better.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Christmas Alone Together.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:21Speaker 1: That's I feel like perhaps Homark has dug themselves into
- 4:25Speaker 1: a bit of a hole by producing this many movies.
- 4:28Speaker 1: At some point, we're just gonna have to start numbering them.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I mean going to run out of Christmas movie name
- 4:34Speaker 1: generator options.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Do you remember, Well, okay, that's what I was gonna say.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Do you remember, like back in like the late nineties
- 4:41Speaker 3: early two thousands, they would have a box of like magnets,
- 4:44Speaker 3: like poet poetry magnets that you would like put.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Hundred percent on your refrigerator.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yes. I feel like this is how they come up
- 4:51Speaker 3: with the title. So these movies they just rearranged like
- 4:54Speaker 3: Christmasy words to see like does that work? Okay, great,
- 4:58Speaker 3: We're gonna go with that.
- 4:59Speaker 2: All right, Like, give me a noun, give me an adjective.
- 5:03Speaker 3: A mad lives it. Sorry, I'm cracking myself up this morning.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Okay, Well, I for the first time noticed I typically
- 5:16Speaker 1: don't look, but I noticed on IMDb that this movie
- 5:19Speaker 1: had an estimated budget of two point five million dollars.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Megan, that is in my notes as well. That is
- 5:24Speaker 3: the first time I've ever seen it noted same, and
- 5:28Speaker 3: so that makes me wonder. Two point five million dollars.
- 5:33Speaker 3: When I first saw it, went oh, that's a lot
- 5:35Speaker 3: of money. But is it a lot of money? I
- 5:38Speaker 3: don't know how much are the actors getting paid? Probably
- 5:41Speaker 3: not much? Right.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Well, when you consider the number of people that have
- 5:45Speaker 1: to work on a movie like this, not just the
- 5:46Speaker 1: actors and the directors, but the lighting people and the
- 5:49Speaker 1: props department and people that are providing food. I mean,
- 5:52Speaker 1: it's top to bottom hair and makeup, it doesn't seem
- 5:55Speaker 1: like that much. However, when you then break it down
- 5:58Speaker 1: and realize that these movies are typically filmed in two weeks,
- 6:01Speaker 1: these actors are not being paid feature film rates because
- 6:04Speaker 1: they're only working for two weeks.
- 6:05Speaker 3: So you think, you think, okay, let's think about like, uh,
- 6:08Speaker 3: what Laura Vandervoot, Well, what do you think she'd made
- 6:11Speaker 3: on this one hundred thousand dollars?
- 6:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I'm dying to know that kind of information. If anybody
- 6:20Speaker 3: knows where we can find that info, I would love
- 6:22Speaker 3: to know.
- 6:22Speaker 1: According to mister dustbin dot com, hallmarked actors get salary
- 6:26Speaker 1: between thirty thousand and two one million dollars per movie
- 6:29Speaker 1: per their popularity.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Oh so re talking like CCB and Lacy Shaber pulling
- 6:35Speaker 3: them one million, Tyler Hines pulling the one million, yes,
- 6:39Speaker 3: and then that your Laura Vandervoots get thirty thousand dollars.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Laura van der Voard is probably making more.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I think the stars are making more than the than
- 6:51Speaker 1: the base. I'm very curious if you have insider information. Obviously,
- 6:55Speaker 1: who knows where this person is gathering their information?
- 6:57Speaker 3: Let us I'm gonna I'm gonna message Sleepy Kitty Paw.
- 7:00Speaker 3: She's got a no right hey.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Maybe I also read.
- 7:04Speaker 3: That there were wildfires nearby during the filming of this movie.
- 7:08Speaker 3: And if you know anything about Meggan and I, we
- 7:11Speaker 3: live in southern California where it's wildfire season right now
- 7:14Speaker 3: and I can't imagine that they were actually filming a
- 7:18Speaker 3: movie when there was nearby wildfires, because the smoke is
- 7:21Speaker 3: so awful.
- 7:23Speaker 2: It is so awful.
- 7:24Speaker 1: But so yesterday there was a fire somewhat locally, and
- 7:26Speaker 1: you were closer to it than I was, but you
- 7:29Speaker 1: were on the opposite side of it.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Was it smoky where you were?
- 7:34Speaker 3: No, not at all.
- 7:35Speaker 2: It was so weird.
- 7:36Speaker 1: It can't have just been like a wind thing because
- 7:38Speaker 1: we're probably what where I am thirty miles from where
- 7:42Speaker 1: the fire was. Totally yeah, And it was very smoky
- 7:45Speaker 1: at my house yesterday, like burn your eye smoky, But
- 7:48Speaker 1: we were not physically close to the fires. And there's
- 7:50Speaker 1: no smoke in the air today. So some of the
- 7:52Speaker 1: horses had to be evacuated. I saw the filming of
- 7:54Speaker 1: this movie, but everyone and everyone was okay, Which.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Then leads me again to another question about horses and movies.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I know that you have like a real problem with
- 8:04Speaker 3: like a horse carriage situation. Right, Why is like a
- 8:10Speaker 3: horse drawn carriage buggy ride like so christmasy? Why do
- 8:16Speaker 3: they appear in all these Christmas movies?
- 8:18Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Okay, that's fair, all right, Do you have any other
- 8:24Speaker 3: news and notes.
- 8:26Speaker 1: The last thing I have is on IMDb they give
- 8:27Speaker 1: top billing.
- 8:28Speaker 2: To Max the Dog.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I saw Max if I type in Christmas Together with
- 8:35Speaker 1: You on IMDb, hows it populates, it says Christmas together
- 8:39Speaker 1: with you.
- 8:39Speaker 2: There's just a list. Twenty twenty one.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Dax and Jim Evans are the two people who are
- 8:46Speaker 1: given top billing. Jim Evans is the dad Steve's dad.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Oh, has Max the Dog been in anything else?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Well?
- 8:55Speaker 1: Max the Dog does not have a profile photo on
- 8:57Speaker 1: his IMDb page, and that is his only acting credit.
- 9:02Speaker 3: His owner needs to get on that.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I have to assume that he's like the dog of
- 9:06Speaker 1: someone on the production.
- 9:08Speaker 3: He's probably that dad that played Steve's dad. It was
- 9:11Speaker 3: probably bat Guy's Because as a person who is very
- 9:15Speaker 3: familiar with adding content to IMDb, I'm telling you the
- 9:20Speaker 3: owner is missing an opportunity there to add maxis photo.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Right, it made some work. What's your first impression of
- 9:28Speaker 2: this movie?
- 9:29Speaker 3: My first impression of this movie is I could really
- 9:34Speaker 3: go for some green Bean castrole.
- 9:36Speaker 2: That is so funny. I have something to say about
- 9:38Speaker 2: that later.
- 9:40Speaker 3: So funny I have, I have, I have some other
- 9:45Speaker 3: notes and did just see that about the green Bean castrole.
- 9:48Speaker 3: But holy hell wow.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Well my feeling is it kind of made me want
- 9:55Speaker 1: to go to an inn at Christmas. I kind of
- 9:58Speaker 1: was like, oh I could I could use a little
- 10:00Speaker 1: holiday get away. I say this because my daughter and
- 10:02Speaker 1: husband were out of town this weekend and they were
- 10:03Speaker 1: having like Christmas sing it up a little envious.
- 10:07Speaker 2: In the winter weather they had.
- 10:10Speaker 3: When do you get to have your own Christmas festivities
- 10:15Speaker 3: come true?
- 10:16Speaker 1: I mean, I'm all talk because my husband's like, you
- 10:19Speaker 1: plan a trip and that sounds exhausting. I don't really
- 10:21Speaker 1: want to do that. So it's not that I can't.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It's just that I'd rather complain about it than do
- 10:26Speaker 1: anything about it.
- 10:27Speaker 3: I mean, do you want to get in my suitcase
- 10:29Speaker 3: and we can go to New York together?
- 10:31Speaker 2: I mean, yes, Okay, let's see that. What did you
- 10:34Speaker 2: like about this movie? Okay?
- 10:36Speaker 3: So I did like a couple of things. Okay, First
- 10:40Speaker 3: and foremost, I really like the actor Harry Lennox who
- 10:44Speaker 3: played Frank. I thought he was a good actor. He's natural, believable,
- 10:49Speaker 3: like I cared about his storyline. His is the only
- 10:51Speaker 3: storyline that I cared about. I liked him a lot.
- 10:54Speaker 3: I've never seen him in anything else, and I know
- 10:57Speaker 3: he's got a deep resume, but yeah, new to me,
- 11:00Speaker 3: and I liked him.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I said, even though I take issues with some of
- 11:06Speaker 1: these storylines, and I will discuss that later, I like
- 11:09Speaker 1: that we have a focus on the multiple relationships in
- 11:12Speaker 1: this movie rather than just the central romantic relationship. In fact,
- 11:16Speaker 1: I find Frank and Claire's relationship far more compelling than
- 11:20Speaker 1: Megan and Steve's.
- 11:21Speaker 3: One hundred percent.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I even found Steve's relationship with his parents to be
- 11:28Speaker 1: more interesting. I have an issue with that whole dynamic
- 11:31Speaker 1: as well, but I found that more interesting than Megan
- 11:36Speaker 1: and Steve as well.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Are you gonna talk about the parents dynamic because I
- 11:38Speaker 3: would love to hear it.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's in my wish.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Okay, okay, okay. I really like the dog Max.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I mean, it's a cute dog.
- 11:47Speaker 3: I know. When I was watching this movie, I took
- 11:50Speaker 3: a picture of Max from sitting on my couch of
- 11:53Speaker 3: the TV. And Max is.
- 11:55Speaker 2: A whole mood like he totally.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I was feeling Max while as I was watching this movie,
- 12:00Speaker 3: and I'm gonna include that picture in our show notes.
- 12:03Speaker 3: We'll see what I'm talking about.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Says like what is wrong with you people?
- 12:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he's like, really, Steve, you're my owner?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yes, none of this holds up. Did you like anything
- 12:15Speaker 2: else I did?
- 12:17Speaker 3: I like the like let's go on an adventure at
- 12:20Speaker 3: Christmas time storyline to look for Frank's you know, old love.
- 12:24Speaker 3: And I really like the friendship between Megan and Frank.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I liked that.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Kind of broke my heart when Claire wasn't initially interested
- 12:33Speaker 3: in reconnecting with Frank, like especially in that Caroline scene,
- 12:38Speaker 3: like when she comes out she's like, what are you
- 12:39Speaker 3: doing or what are you trying to do? I just
- 12:41Speaker 3: was like, felt so bad for him.
- 12:43Speaker 1: May I cite a tweet about that scene?
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yes?
- 12:47Speaker 1: The tweet is from what the Hallmark and it says, PSA,
- 12:51Speaker 1: if you show up at someone's place of business, ask
- 12:53Speaker 1: them out and they turn you down, it is not
- 12:56Speaker 1: okay to then show up uninvited to their house with
- 12:58Speaker 1: the pack of your friends try to pressure them into
- 13:01Speaker 1: changing their mind.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Opposite, okay of okay, I mean that's a.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Real twenty twenty one.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I thought it was sweet. I thought it was sweet,
- 13:11Speaker 2: but I gets.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Sweet knowing what we know about Frank, because we know
- 13:15Speaker 1: Frank is harmless he's a sweet man. They had this
- 13:18Speaker 1: love story. We know his side of the story, so
- 13:21Speaker 1: we're rooting for him. I think if I were to
- 13:24Speaker 1: say to you, hey, this dude showed up at this
- 13:26Speaker 1: woman's work after not seeing her for forty years, she
- 13:29Speaker 1: turns him down, and then he goes to her home,
- 13:31Speaker 1: which why does he know where she lives?
- 13:33Speaker 2: That's weird talker.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Yeah, uh so I think this again is one of
- 13:38Speaker 1: those womens that gets the Hallmark treatment.
- 13:40Speaker 2: We forgive it because we are We're here for Frank.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I was just remembered as you were
- 13:48Speaker 3: talking about that I had a dream about you last
- 13:50Speaker 3: night that you had some sort of stalker situation like that.
- 13:53Speaker 3: So I wonder if like my Hallmark and like everything's
- 13:59Speaker 3: melding in my dream together. But it was definitely you
- 14:01Speaker 3: and you had like a stocker situation.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Don't like that at all.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I'm sorry, but it was harmless. It wasn't like it
- 14:07Speaker 3: was like me and you try to like buddy cop it,
- 14:09Speaker 3: trying to like figure it out, catch it.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Have an air tag following me? Have you seen those?
- 14:16Speaker 3: You know what is an AirTag?
- 14:18Speaker 2: Well? AirTag talk?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Yeah, air tag is like Apple's version of the tile.
- 14:24Speaker 1: You can attach an air tag to your keys or okay,
- 14:27Speaker 1: to your purse so that you can find it, or
- 14:28Speaker 1: to your dog's collar, whatever. And if you have an
- 14:32Speaker 1: air tag that is following you your phone and you
- 14:35Speaker 1: have an iPhone, your phone will pick it up and
- 14:36Speaker 1: it'll say this device has been following you. So people
- 14:39Speaker 1: show them on TikTok and they'll be like, I just
- 14:41Speaker 1: got a notification on my phone that this device that
- 14:43Speaker 1: is not registered to me is like tracking my location.
- 14:46Speaker 1: And they'll find them like behind their license plate or
- 14:49Speaker 1: shoved under a seat in their car. And I don't
- 14:52Speaker 1: know the level twitch they're all real, but they all
- 14:54Speaker 1: kind of they seem real. It seems like a real problem.
- 14:59Speaker 3: I don't know anything about this. I'm gonna have to
- 15:02Speaker 3: look for it.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I'll add more stocking.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah, oh well, I will definitely add more in the
- 15:07Speaker 3: show notes because that seems terrifying.
- 15:09Speaker 2: It does.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Wow. Ooh, I just got the heat.
- 15:14Speaker 2: GB's uh huh.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Okay. I have two scenes that I really liked in
- 15:18Speaker 3: this movie. Okay, they made me lol. One when she
- 15:24Speaker 3: and Frank first pull into the town of Pinesville and
- 15:28Speaker 3: she sees like it's a small town and there's like
- 15:31Speaker 3: like craft booths and like horses, and she like gets
- 15:35Speaker 3: like so like fixated on the horses and then like
- 15:38Speaker 3: almost hits the horse carriage and they're like they totally
- 15:42Speaker 3: skid out. I was like, that's super believable because that
- 15:45Speaker 3: is totally something I would do. It was so funny,
- 15:48Speaker 3: and it was like a full shot, like a full
- 15:51Speaker 3: shot of them skidding out. I was like, Oh my god,
- 15:53Speaker 3: they're going to crash into the craft.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Boots like an actual stunt driver handled that. It seems like.
- 16:00Speaker 3: How much did that guy make from the two point
- 16:02Speaker 3: five million?
- 16:02Speaker 2: Right?
- 16:04Speaker 3: The other saying I really thought was funny is when
- 16:07Speaker 3: they were driving home and Max the dog was hiding
- 16:09Speaker 3: in the back of the car and he scares the
- 16:11Speaker 3: crap out of Megan as she's driving, and she had
- 16:14Speaker 3: like such abelievable reaction that made me laugh so hard.
- 16:19Speaker 3: And maybe that's just because I have dogs, and I
- 16:21Speaker 3: thought it was really funny.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I just like when they add these dogs to the movie,
- 16:25Speaker 1: it adds like a little levity and warmth to the movie.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'm do the dogs bring those dogs?
- 16:31Speaker 3: I sure hope somebody was playing with our bingo card,
- 16:33Speaker 3: because they would have got a cute dog. They would
- 16:36Speaker 3: have got a shooting star. This movie had a lot
- 16:39Speaker 3: of things. It did have a lot of things.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Did you wish this movie had anything?
- 16:46Speaker 3: I had a couple things that I wish this movie had.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Do you want me to go first?
- 16:49Speaker 2: Sure?
- 16:51Speaker 3: Isn't necessary? These are mostly questions, But isn't necessary to
- 16:56Speaker 3: have Megan's character be fresh from like canceling a wedding? Like,
- 17:02Speaker 3: why can't she just be single? Why can't she just
- 17:05Speaker 3: be like single and thriving? She's a business owner, she whatever?
- 17:09Speaker 3: Why does she have to be like this broken down?
- 17:11Speaker 2: I don't have love in my life.
- 17:13Speaker 3: I just canceled my wedding. Today would have been my
- 17:16Speaker 3: wedding day. Nonsense?
- 17:19Speaker 1: Why I do not think that is necessary? And we
- 17:23Speaker 1: have recorded a review of a shoe Attix Christmas that
- 17:25Speaker 1: will go up later in December, a throwback movie review
- 17:28Speaker 1: and spoiler alert.
- 17:29Speaker 2: That was one of my.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Complaints about this movie is that they make Candice Cameron's
- 17:34Speaker 1: character No, well, this scorned woman is not necessary to
- 17:40Speaker 1: the story. You know she can we already have that.
- 17:43Speaker 1: She's alone, her father has passed away, she kind of
- 17:48Speaker 1: has is stuck in her business and is not necessarily
- 17:51Speaker 1: where she wants to be. We already have some conflict
- 17:53Speaker 1: in her life. We didn't also need the Hallmark. If
- 17:56Speaker 1: you're not in a relationship, you suck treatment.
- 18:00Speaker 3: Right. That's my biggest problem is that it is totally
- 18:03Speaker 3: okay to be single, right even at Christmas, even at Christmas,
- 18:08Speaker 3: and then they put this like treatment on it that
- 18:11Speaker 3: makes these women like quote unquote pathetic a little bit,
- 18:16Speaker 3: you know, and there's nothing but pathetic about being single,
- 18:20Speaker 3: I don't think well.
- 18:22Speaker 1: And what is interesting is with a movie like this,
- 18:25Speaker 1: Hallmark is doing a good job at one thing, and
- 18:28Speaker 1: that is showing different types of love. We have kind
- 18:32Speaker 1: of the loving father daughter type relationship that Megan and
- 18:35Speaker 1: Frank have, and we have this you know, second chance
- 18:39Speaker 1: at love relationship. It's okay. I like that they focus
- 18:44Speaker 1: on those things. I think we've seen a departure this
- 18:47Speaker 1: year in focusing solely on the main romantic relationship at
- 18:50Speaker 1: the core of the story and just letting everything kind
- 18:52Speaker 1: of loosely orbit around that. But they can't seem to
- 18:55Speaker 1: let go of and she also needs to find love, right.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I wonder what.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Would happen because we see lots of pushback from the
- 19:03Speaker 1: traditional Hallmark crowd about a lot of things. What would
- 19:06Speaker 1: happen if that crowd didn't get their happy I Love
- 19:10Speaker 1: You ending? What if Frank and Claire were the happy
- 19:14Speaker 1: I Love you ending.
- 19:16Speaker 2: And Megan and Steve were just bystanders? Yeah?
- 19:19Speaker 3: Why not? I would love to know the reaction. Like
- 19:22Speaker 3: you said, I just know. Why can't they have like
- 19:26Speaker 3: a mature love story from Claire and Frank? It's still
- 19:30Speaker 3: a love story?
- 19:31Speaker 2: I agree?
- 19:33Speaker 3: Why do we need like the two like lead white
- 19:37Speaker 3: people to be in life?
- 19:38Speaker 1: I'm just yes, Megan and Steve could be the supporting
- 19:41Speaker 1: actors here, absolutely absolutely all right?
- 19:44Speaker 3: What else? What else did you wish for?
- 19:46Speaker 1: So these are again more complaints about the movie than anything.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Steve works in hospitality, Yes, this is his job, but
- 19:58Speaker 1: then he buys this in, so he has a full
- 20:01Speaker 1: time job. But then he buys an in, which Laura,
- 20:04Speaker 1: like Gilmore tells me, is a full time job owning
- 20:06Speaker 1: an in, And then he buys this in, and rather
- 20:09Speaker 1: than hiring staff, which as someone who works in hospitality,
- 20:12Speaker 1: seems like something he might know how to do is
- 20:14Speaker 1: hire people to run a location, he says, Hey, mom and.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Dad, could you help me out?
- 20:20Speaker 1: Like it's his lemonade stand and he's gotten bored and
- 20:24Speaker 1: then just walks away. And it seems like maybe he
- 20:27Speaker 1: comes home at the holidays to help out a little bit.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I don't understand where how he's doing his other job.
- 20:32Speaker 1: He's not a fully fleshed out plan.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Son agree, And they didn't even need to have him
- 20:38Speaker 3: have another job, like just have him be there at
- 20:41Speaker 3: the inn. You guys don't need that like scene where
- 20:44Speaker 3: they like he crashes into her or whatever, you know
- 20:47Speaker 3: what I mean. They don't need that like scene to
- 20:49Speaker 3: set up the two of them.
- 20:51Speaker 1: No, but that's another good point that I'm realizing right now.
- 20:56Speaker 1: As someone who works in hospitality, he is the least
- 20:58Speaker 1: hospitable person I have ever met in my life. Like,
- 21:01Speaker 1: if you are a person who works in hospitality and
- 21:03Speaker 1: it is your job to make sure someone is having
- 21:05Speaker 1: a good time, even at your own expense, would you
- 21:10Speaker 1: not put he was talking to his mother. If we
- 21:11Speaker 1: find out later put down the phone, say I need
- 21:14Speaker 1: to call you right back. I just spilled coffee all
- 21:16Speaker 1: over somebody. Right, That was the oddest scene, And again
- 21:21Speaker 1: is a fallback on the we need to set this
- 21:24Speaker 1: guy up as a jerk, So that when they actually
- 21:26Speaker 1: enjoy each other, it's magical, right, And since we're.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Talking about Steve and like his role in hospitality, this
- 21:33Speaker 3: was a note in my digit see that, but I'm
- 21:35Speaker 3: going to just talk about it here. He was so rude,
- 21:39Speaker 3: like when when Frank and Megan first get to the
- 21:42Speaker 3: inn and his back is turned to them, and which
- 21:45Speaker 3: I get, like it's supposed to be the surprise moment
- 21:47Speaker 3: when he turns around, but he's like, I'll be right
- 21:49Speaker 3: with you. No, you greet your customers when they come
- 21:53Speaker 3: in the door. You don't say I'll be right with
- 21:55Speaker 3: you because I'm filling the mail slots or whatever. Nonsense.
- 21:59Speaker 3: He's he's a total jerk. Later on when she asks
- 22:03Speaker 3: about Wi Fi and he's like, you know, and and
- 22:06Speaker 3: the heater not working in the room, he like kicks
- 22:09Speaker 3: it and he's like, ma, it'll be good for two weeks.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Like really, dude, I Like, I even tweeted when I
- 22:14Speaker 3: was watching this movie, I was like, this dude's in hospitality.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Indeed, I'm also really curious. Again, not a wish, just
- 22:23Speaker 1: a question. Megan and Frank on this road trip, they
- 22:27Speaker 1: get derailed because Clara is not where they think she
- 22:30Speaker 1: is going to be and they go to Sleeping Pines.
- 22:35Speaker 2: What's this place called.
- 22:37Speaker 1: They're retired Pinesville, Pineville the town, Oh, the town.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:43Speaker 1: They arrive in Pinesville and they decide to stay the
- 22:45Speaker 1: night in Steve's Inn. They have no clothes, they have
- 22:50Speaker 1: no bags. Explain to me, you've gone on this road trip.
- 22:54Speaker 1: You've driven away to visit this woman. You drive a
- 22:59Speaker 1: little bit far, and all of a sudden you're now
- 23:02Speaker 1: too far to go home. But it never occurred to
- 23:06Speaker 1: you to pack a bag because you were going to
- 23:08Speaker 1: be too far to drive home.
- 23:10Speaker 3: It didn't explain why she was wearing different clothes than
- 23:12Speaker 3: the next day.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, where did she get the clothes? Because they sleep
- 23:15Speaker 2: in her clothes.
- 23:16Speaker 1: She's laying on the couch in a pencil skirt when
- 23:18Speaker 1: they go to bed, probably still.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Wearing her heels. But then all of a sudden, they
- 23:22Speaker 2: have new clothes.
- 23:23Speaker 1: At some point, she says, oh, I went out to
- 23:24Speaker 1: pick up some supplies, which apparently means an entirely new
- 23:27Speaker 1: winter wardrobe. Yeah, it would be plausible that they had
- 23:33Speaker 1: packed a bag because they might have to spend the night.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I guess it's supposed to look like a spur of
- 23:38Speaker 1: the moment decisions, so they don't have any luggage. It
- 23:40Speaker 1: doesn't work for me.
- 23:42Speaker 3: It doesn't add up, does it?
- 23:43Speaker 2: Now?
- 23:45Speaker 3: Okay, this again, this is the section where we just complain.
- 23:49Speaker 3: I think, uh, huh, why must two love interest start
- 23:56Speaker 3: off rocky? I'm so tired of this old story.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Of like.
- 24:03Speaker 3: The love interests not getting along and then they find
- 24:05Speaker 3: out that they like each other. Like I, as a woman,
- 24:08Speaker 3: I am not attracted to a guy who was an
- 24:10Speaker 3: asshole to me, like right, Like, uh, it's just used
- 24:15Speaker 3: too much in these movies and I need the writers
- 24:18Speaker 3: to be more creative, like come on.
- 24:22Speaker 2: And it doesn't make me root for them, to root
- 24:25Speaker 2: for them. And when Steve was a jerk, I think, Megan.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Run, Yeah, he's always gonna be like that.
- 24:32Speaker 3: He's not gonna change. Yeah, Because I was just thinking
- 24:35Speaker 3: the movie that we did for Patreon, My Family Christmas Tree. Yes,
- 24:42Speaker 3: Andrew Walker. He was wowie zowie times one hundred. He
- 24:47Speaker 3: is so nice the entire movie. They don't start out like, uh,
- 24:53Speaker 3: upset at each other, right, and I.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Remembering how enemies to lovers. He's lovely and wonderful and
- 24:59Speaker 1: charming and kind throughout the entire movie, and I loved
- 25:02Speaker 1: him throughout the entire movie and wanted him to be happy.
- 25:06Speaker 3: That's what I'm rooting for. I'm not rooting for the
- 25:11Speaker 3: trope of like, hey be the change for this really
- 25:16Speaker 3: jerk off guy. You know, Ugh, yeah, that's not gonna last.
- 25:20Speaker 3: I'm just over it. I'm over it. Do the regular
- 25:23Speaker 3: Homemark Watchers like that kind of storyline because it's in
- 25:26Speaker 3: every single movie.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Does a Hallmark Watcher like a bad boy?
- 25:30Speaker 3: I mean, but make him like a real bad boy then,
- 25:33Speaker 3: you know, uh huh, Like make.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Him like Tyler Harn's on a motorcycle.
- 25:38Speaker 1: There you go, that's it. Are you ready for to
- 25:41Speaker 1: see that? Because I would like to discuss the green
- 25:42Speaker 1: Bean castrole.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Sure, yeah, let's go.
- 25:46Speaker 1: What is happening in this green Bee castle scene? They
- 25:49Speaker 1: have to create this beautiful meal. Fine, she owns a cafe. Great,
- 25:55Speaker 1: somehow the green bean castle is the centerpiece of this
- 25:58Speaker 1: entire meal. They couldn't have gotten a car go ham somewhere,
- 26:01Speaker 1: they couldn't have found a pie for goodness sakes, that
- 26:04Speaker 1: would have been beautiful. No, the green bean castle is
- 26:06Speaker 1: the centerpiece of this meal, and they remove it from
- 26:09Speaker 1: the oven and he goes, wow, that looks incredible.
- 26:13Speaker 2: It's green beans. No, it doesn't. It's green beans and
- 26:15Speaker 2: mushroom soup. She even says it's mushroom soup. She doesn't
- 26:19Speaker 2: even make the filling from scratch. I'm kind of a
- 26:21Speaker 2: whiz at a green bean castle. Yeah, it's not that hard.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Lady Campbell's obviously financed this movie, so they had to
- 26:29Speaker 3: have that product pricement. It was a one minute commercial
- 26:33Speaker 3: for Campbell's green bean Castle there.
- 26:36Speaker 2: It really was.
- 26:37Speaker 1: And I wow, look, if you ever come to my
- 26:41Speaker 1: house and the green bean castle is the centerpiece of
- 26:43Speaker 1: a meal, I actually like a green bean castrole. Okay,
- 26:45Speaker 1: I do, but the green bean castle is the centerpiece
- 26:49Speaker 1: of the meal. I am sorry because I have failed you.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 3: There's one scene where like they're showing everybody like partaking
- 26:57Speaker 3: and enjoying in this wonderful meal, and there's these two
- 27:00Speaker 3: ladies at a table and the green bean casserole is
- 27:02Speaker 3: like the one she took out of the oven is
- 27:05Speaker 3: at the middle of this table and they like dig
- 27:07Speaker 3: into it like it's ice cream. Like I'm like gross. No,
- 27:12Speaker 3: she had a fork, her own fork and was like
- 27:15Speaker 3: digging into the green bean casserole. I'm like, no, you
- 27:18Speaker 3: serve that up with a big serving spoon. You don't
- 27:21Speaker 3: put it on somebody's table as a centerpiece. Nope, I
- 27:25Speaker 3: saw that scene with the dish on the table.
- 27:29Speaker 2: There are multiple tables in this room.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Are we to believe they made twelve separate green bean
- 27:32Speaker 1: castles or just one table gets it? Why is there
- 27:35Speaker 1: not a bufet situation set up in this.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Did they even
- 27:40Speaker 3: explain why they were having this dinner? I know he
- 27:42Speaker 3: got a call that somebody canceled on him to make
- 27:45Speaker 3: the dinner, But what was the dinner?
- 27:46Speaker 2: Wasn't it a veteran's dinner? Was it a veterans dinner?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Or was that a different movie?
- 27:50Speaker 1: No?
- 27:50Speaker 3: I think it was because I remember him saying like
- 27:52Speaker 3: thank you for your service or something like that. But
- 27:55Speaker 3: what why was that a throw a throw in? You
- 28:01Speaker 3: know whatever? Campbell says like, we need a commercial here,
- 28:03Speaker 3: it is, this is what we needed.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Megan to be the hero in this movie. Why is
- 28:07Speaker 1: she constantly coming to his rescue? She like helps him
- 28:10Speaker 1: wrap all those gifts and help. You need some staff, buddy, Okay,
- 28:15Speaker 1: I have a very big. Did you see that? Which
- 28:17Speaker 1: is really a WTF? And who are all of.
- 28:21Speaker 2: These people that are giving out Claire's personal information?
- 28:24Speaker 3: What are you talking about?
- 28:26Speaker 2: Tell me?
- 28:26Speaker 1: Megan sends a random Internet message to someone who oh,
- 28:31Speaker 1: yes or used to know her, and he says, oh,
- 28:33Speaker 1: this is her, this is her home, and then they
- 28:36Speaker 1: show up to her home and her neighbor is like, oh,
- 28:40Speaker 1: she's not there, she's at the retirement home. What if
- 28:43Speaker 1: my neighbors are telling strangers who are pulling up at
- 28:47Speaker 1: my home where I am, I'm going to be very upset.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Yeah. So we if you got a message like on Facebook,
- 28:53Speaker 3: because I think that's like what it was supposed to be, like, said, hey,
- 28:56Speaker 3: do you know John Doe from your graduating high school?
- 29:00Speaker 3: And you did, would you give them their address?
- 29:03Speaker 2: No?
- 29:03Speaker 3: Right, Never.
- 29:06Speaker 1: If I was in contact with John Doe, I might
- 29:08Speaker 1: say so and so reached out, would you like to
- 29:10Speaker 1: get in touch with him? But I would not give
- 29:12Speaker 1: a stranger some other person's address. Stranger danger.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Okay, I have a minor. Did you see that? Yeah,
- 29:21Speaker 3: that's the beginning. When they are in Meghan's cafe, she
- 29:24Speaker 3: brings out what I think is a kish for Frank
- 29:28Speaker 3: and if you ever saw the plate, it was like
- 29:30Speaker 3: a slice of kish and this big like salad that
- 29:33Speaker 3: had slices of tomatoes on the top of it. And
- 29:35Speaker 3: I was like, that looks gross. He didn't even end
- 29:39Speaker 3: up eating it. Like he left, He's like, this is delicious.
- 29:42Speaker 3: He takes one by the plate.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Was so full when he left.
- 29:45Speaker 3: I just said it was so funny prop food totally so.
- 29:50Speaker 3: When Frank mistakes the woman in the wheelchair at the
- 29:54Speaker 3: retirement home as being Claire, the woman in the wheelchair
- 29:59Speaker 3: looked young than me, Like where did they get this extra?
- 30:04Speaker 3: Like they were hoping we didn't notice she looked thirty
- 30:07Speaker 3: and not ninety because it was a retirement home. It
- 30:11Speaker 3: was so funny.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Just don't say anything, Sit there quietly and slouched in
- 30:16Speaker 1: your wheelchair and nobody'll know.
- 30:17Speaker 3: They totally showed her face. I was like, nope, she's
- 30:20Speaker 3: not old at all.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Are we supposed to believe he wouldn't recognize her?
- 30:28Speaker 2: Well, Rian in love with.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Her and he wouldn't go what I don't.
- 30:33Speaker 2: I don't believe it. Maybe he might be her, but
- 30:36Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 30:37Speaker 3: You know, Okay, I'm trying to think, like what it
- 30:41Speaker 3: was supposed to be like nineteen seventy one. I think
- 30:44Speaker 3: when they were teenagers. I don't know if I would
- 30:49Speaker 3: recognize somebody from high school?
- 30:52Speaker 2: Do you think you were the love of your life?
- 30:54Speaker 2: Who you were going to marry?
- 30:56Speaker 1: Ninety nine other people I went to high school with,
- 30:59Speaker 1: no if I were hoping if this was.
- 31:01Speaker 3: The one that got away.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I would hope that I would recognize this person.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 31:07Speaker 1: And they both look good, but both Frank and Claire
- 31:10Speaker 1: look great, so I think I would recognize them.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if somebody I
- 31:18Speaker 3: don't know. You know, people change a lot in like
- 31:21Speaker 3: fifty years or whatever how many.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Years it was supposed to be.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Yeah, my last did you see?
- 31:26Speaker 1: That?
- 31:27Speaker 3: Is something I read on IMDb And it was a
- 31:30Speaker 3: review and it said which btw. The reviews were on
- 31:35Speaker 3: IMDb were not critical. Oh everybody liked this movie quite
- 31:41Speaker 3: a bit.
- 31:43Speaker 2: But girls straight, I know.
- 31:47Speaker 3: But somebody had reviewed that the flashback scenes to nineteen
- 31:50Speaker 3: seventy one, that they had the period the time period
- 31:53Speaker 3: all wrong, like people would have been like hippies with
- 31:57Speaker 3: like long hair, like they wouldn't have been like buttoned
- 32:00Speaker 3: up bow tie at a.
- 32:01Speaker 1: School there are more like fifties throwbacks that they're giving
- 32:05Speaker 1: instead of seventies.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Uh huh huh, I mean, I don't know. I actually
- 32:10Speaker 3: did a google. I was like images from nineteen seventy one,
- 32:13Speaker 3: and I did have a hard time finding images of
- 32:15Speaker 3: people of color, and when I did, they did not
- 32:19Speaker 3: look like what they portrayed in this movie. So yeah,
- 32:25Speaker 3: somebody didn't do that the background work.
- 32:30Speaker 2: What did you rate this movie.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Two stars?
- 32:35Speaker 2: I gave it two point five?
- 32:36Speaker 3: Oh why?
- 32:39Speaker 1: I thought it was sweet enough. It was not something
- 32:43Speaker 1: I would rewatch. It's not something that will be memorable
- 32:46Speaker 1: for me, but it didn't make me angry to watch
- 32:48Speaker 1: in the way that some of these movies do.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Fair.
- 32:51Speaker 3: You and I had texted that this movie didn't have
- 32:54Speaker 3: like a magical Christmas feel to it. Do you still agree?
- 33:00Speaker 2: Yes?
- 33:01Speaker 1: It I think, particularly compared to some of the other
- 33:04Speaker 1: twenty twenty one movies like A Christmas Together with You,
- 33:09Speaker 1: like a Christmas Sale, this didn't give me those touching,
- 33:13Speaker 1: tear jerker, sweet wonderful moments, but it doesn't feel It's
- 33:19Speaker 1: not plastically homework.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Uh oh, you.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Said you'd named the title of this movie.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Oh, I meant my Christmas Family Tree, My Christmas Family Tree,
- 33:29Speaker 1: and A Christmas Sale. Those are the movies that gave
- 33:31Speaker 1: me the.
- 33:33Speaker 3: The Christmas feels, the Christmas feels, yeah, when it really
- 33:37Speaker 3: wasn't even like love story because A Christmas Sale was
- 33:41Speaker 3: to me more about like the reconnecting between like father
- 33:45Speaker 3: and daughter, right very much. Was there a love story
- 33:48Speaker 3: in that. There was a love story, but like, I
- 33:49Speaker 3: don't remember that. I remember it as the you know,
- 33:53Speaker 3: reuniting between father and daughter, and that's what made that
- 33:56Speaker 3: movie special. With all the Christmas stuff, I don't know,
- 34:00Speaker 3: this was not a good one.
