- 1:38Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us. This portion of the program.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Is brought to you by Radiant Dentistry.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Coming up.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer. We've got a high school report.
- 1:49Speaker 2: We've got MLB baseball playoffs beginning.
- 1:53Speaker 1: We're going to hear from Mike Elko. And Lizzie is.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Here with us with an entertainment report in the second hour.
- 2:03Speaker 2: The playoffs have already started with a bang this afternoon
- 2:07Speaker 2: in Atlanta. Austin Riley with a three-run Jimmy Jack in
- 2:12Speaker 2: the bottom of the eighth inning. And the Braves beat
- 2:16Speaker 2: the Phillies 5-3.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Astros and White Sox.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Will be starting here in a minute at the Icebox
- 2:26Speaker 2: in Houston. Game one, blue ball for the Astros.
- 2:34Speaker 1: They will have all.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Three in Houston against the Chicago's Yankees. Red Sox tonight.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Cubs Padres tonight. All game one of the division series.
- 2:51Speaker 2: We'll see what happens tonight. By the way, that Astros
- 2:58Speaker 2: game you can hear on Willie, plus the Peacock and
- 3:03Speaker 2: the NBC Sports Network. You got that going on. Tomorrow's
- 3:11Speaker 2: game is at 2 o'clock. If necessary, Wednesday's game will
- 3:17Speaker 2: be at.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Let's see, is it 2 o'clock?
- 3:23Speaker 7: It doesn't say.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Game time to be determined if there is a necessary
- 3:30Speaker 2: game three on Thursday.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I told you A.J. Bluebaugh is getting the start. Hagan Smith,
- 3:39Speaker 2: his first career start today. You know, with the playoffs
- 3:45Speaker 2: starting quickly and these teams were vying for spots, A
- 3:51Speaker 2: lot of pitching worn out. Apparently that was not the
- 3:55Speaker 2: case today in Atlanta, which the runs came late today
- 4:01Speaker 2: in Atlanta. Aaron Judge will not be in the wildcard
- 4:06Speaker 2: series for the Yankees, but Giancarlo Stanton will be. Stanton
- 4:12Speaker 2: hadn't played in over five months. He was activated from
- 4:17Speaker 2: the 60-day injured list today. Outfielder Trent Grisham also on
- 4:24Speaker 2: the roster. Judge has not played since training a right
- 4:29Speaker 2: calf muscle injury. on the 16th a couple of weeks ago.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Athletics outfielder Zach Geloff has filed a lawsuit against the
- 4:42Speaker 2: Detroit Tigers for damages after his right knee slammed into
- 4:48Speaker 2: Comerica Park fence during a game last summer. The Tigers
- 4:53Speaker 2: said they're aware of the lawsuit but won't comment. The
- 4:57Speaker 2: lawsuit does not specify an amount but seeks compensation for
- 5:03Speaker 2: severe pain and suffering. I've got some severe pain and suffering.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I may call and see if I can get part
- 5:09Speaker 2: of this class action deal. Emotional distress, check. Economic loss, check.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Significant medical bills, attorney's fees, and other things.
- 5:24Speaker 2: G-Loft was hurt in the third inning of a loss
- 5:28Speaker 2: last July. No, this July, making a sliding catch in
- 5:33Speaker 2: foul territory and colliding with a metal fence.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Interesting.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Tyler White has probably been the best player A &
- 5:45Speaker 2: M has so far this year. He was named today
- 5:49Speaker 2: the Ray Guy Punter of the Week. He earned the
- 5:55Speaker 2: honor after punting seven times.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You don't punt that much during the game.
- 6:00Speaker 2: While averaging 51.9 yards per punt. Three punts inside the 20.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Two fair catches. He had six of them over 50.
- 6:14Speaker 2: The longest went 58. Through four games, he's punted 15 times.
- 6:22Speaker 2: and is averaging 50 yards per punt, which leads the country. Again,
- 6:29Speaker 2: you want your punter to be good.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Tyler White had not.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Really performed up to level, frankly, the last couple of years,
- 6:41Speaker 2: but this year he has been. And again, you don't
- 6:46Speaker 2: want to be punting seven times a game. Former Auburn
- 6:50Speaker 2: football staff member has been accused of stealing trade secrets
- 6:56Speaker 2: from the Tigers and sending them to at least 11
- 7:00Speaker 2: other teams. Court records show David Rudolph Ginrath, who's 24.
- 7:07Speaker 2: By the way, when you get a report on somebody,
- 7:11Speaker 2: you never want the middle name. When you get the
- 7:14Speaker 2: middle name, you know he's in trouble. General 24 turned
- 7:18Speaker 2: himself into authorities yesterday, was charged with theft of trade
- 7:22Speaker 2: secrets and computer tampering, both felonies. He's being held on $ 15, 000.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Bond in Auburn.
- 7:32Speaker 2: A police department news release today said, quote, a business reported.
- 7:38Speaker 2: that sensitive information was stolen from the business and distributed
- 7:43Speaker 2: to their competitors. The business reported that one of their competitors...
- 7:48Speaker 2: Wait a minute.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Are they calling college football a business?
- 7:53Speaker 2: Is the Auburn police calling college football a business?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Come on now.
- 7:59Speaker 2: The business reported that one of their competitors received the
- 8:03Speaker 2: information and turned it over to them. So if there
- 8:06Speaker 2: were 10 teams, 11 teams and only one of them goes, yeah,
- 8:09Speaker 2: we don't think this is right. The police report did
- 8:14Speaker 2: not identify the schools that received the stolen information. A
- 8:18Speaker 2: complaint alleges the incident occurred July 19th at the Auburn
- 8:23Speaker 2: Athletics Complex. Auburn officials have declined comment. What did this
- 8:29Speaker 2: guy not get the raise he asked for? Did he
- 8:33Speaker 2: not like the new coaching staff? Did he sell the information?
- 8:40Speaker 2: I feel like there's a movie of the week coming up.
- 8:46Speaker 2: At the least a 30 for 30. In basketball, Florida
- 8:51Speaker 2: guard Denzel Aberdeen was granted, by the way, Aberdeen's 102
- 8:56Speaker 2: years old, was granted a temporary injunction against the NCAA today.
- 9:02Speaker 2: clearing the way for him to suit up for the
- 9:05Speaker 2: Gators for this coming season. He transferred from Kentucky to
- 9:10Speaker 2: Florida earlier this spring in hopes of being granted a fifth.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Year of eligibility.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Todd Golden released a statement, said, We're pleased with today's ruling,
- 9:20Speaker 2: especially happy for Denzel. The first AP Top 25 poll
- 9:26Speaker 2: will be released sometime next month. Florida is projected to
- 9:31Speaker 2: open the year as the preseason number one. The Gators
- 9:36Speaker 2: return their entire starting lineup after winning the program's.
- 9:43Speaker 1: First national title. Okay, we'll go with that.
- 9:52Speaker 2: It's almost basketball season, and I've already heard some rumblings
- 9:56Speaker 2: around here from Aggie fans that they're looking for. forward
- 10:00Speaker 2: to basketball season already.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Football season's not over yet.
- 10:05Speaker 2: We've only played four games. We've got a long way
- 10:08Speaker 2: to go. I know some of you are concerned about
- 10:11Speaker 2: that very fact. There's a long way to go. As
- 10:15Speaker 2: I count it, eight games left in the schedule. So
- 10:20Speaker 2: including six o'clock against the piggy people on Saturday night.
- 10:27Speaker 2: And I haven't checked ticket prices lately. I got to
- 10:30Speaker 2: get on StubHub and check me some ticket prices. I'm
- 10:33Speaker 2: guessing that there are probably a few seats available.
- 10:40Speaker 1: We're going to look at that. Two tickets, cheapest.
- 10:44Speaker 8: 108.
- 10:44Speaker 2: 108 is the cheapest?
- 10:46Speaker 7: Yes, sir.
- 10:47Speaker 1: That'll go down. I'm guessing. We're supposed to get rain,
- 10:52Speaker 1: but it may be out of here by Saturday.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Look, I'm not a meteorologist, but I darn well could
- 10:57Speaker 2: be the way most of these guys are. Because I
- 11:00Speaker 2: can actually tell you right now it's partly cloudy outside.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I don't think the meteorologists anywhere can tell me that.
- 11:09Speaker 2: They keep telling me it's going to rain. But I'm
- 11:15Speaker 2: kind of a see it when, I'll believe it when
- 11:17Speaker 2: I see it kind of guy. So we'll see how
- 11:21Speaker 2: that works out. I did check the radar before I
- 11:24Speaker 2: came in. It is raining in New Mexico, which is
- 11:28Speaker 2: a ways from College Station.
- 11:31Speaker 1: We'll see how that works out for us. We need it.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Like I said, I don't have a lot of faith. Okay,
- 11:42Speaker 2: we're going to take a break tomorrow. Scott Clendenin will
- 11:45Speaker 2: be with us. We'll have some topics. Mallory is due
- 11:49Speaker 2: in tomorrow.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Maybe we'll hear from Jeff Levy tomorrow. Maybe we'll hear
- 11:57Speaker 2: from an Aggie football player tomorrow as well on the show. Thursday,
- 12:03Speaker 2: we'll have another high school report. In 20 minutes, Caleb
- 12:06Speaker 2: will have one today. And we'll have our Clark Eisenhower
- 12:11Speaker 2: outdoor edition. Lots of sharks in the news already this week.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I'm just throwing that out as a warning. This portion
- 12:19Speaker 2: of the program is brought to you by Chad Jones Law.
- 12:24Speaker 9: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt. And so
- 12:27Speaker 9: do injuries from car wrecks. But you didn't sign up
- 12:29Speaker 9: to be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't
- 12:31Speaker 9: paying attention. It was their fault. And now you're left
- 12:34Speaker 9: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a
- 12:36Speaker 9: doctor and you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help.
- 12:39Speaker 9: We've been helping our neighbors for more than two decades.
- 12:41Speaker 9: Stop getting frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember,
- 12:45Speaker 9: don't get mad. Get Chad. Call Chad Jones Law at
- 12:48Speaker 9: 979-595-5000 or go online to ChadJonesLaw.com.
- 12:49Speaker 10: 30 minutes after the Arkansas game, 30 minutes after the
- 12:57Speaker 10: clocks hit zero at Kyle Field, make your way here
- 12:59Speaker 10: to the Zone 1150 AM and 93.7 FM for the
- 13:02Speaker 10: Carney's Pub Call-In Show, brought to you by techsags.com.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I'm Louie Bellina, and I'll be.
- 13:08Speaker 11: Joined by Dusty.
- 13:09Speaker 1: He only has one name.
- 13:11Speaker 12: We'll take your phone calls for two hours, 979-693-1150. It's
- 13:16Speaker 12: the Carney's Pub Call-In Show, and it's brought to you
- 13:19Speaker 12: by techsags.com.
- 13:19Speaker 1: 30 minutes.
- 13:21Speaker 12: after every Aggie football home game here on The Zone.
- 14:02Speaker 1: And thanks for joining us. It is Tuesday.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Astros playoff baseball is on Willie. I wouldn't advise you
- 14:12Speaker 2: turning over there right now. You'll miss our show, number one.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Number two is the Astros, so who cares about that?
- 14:21Speaker 2: So just keep it here. Or you could turn on
- 14:25Speaker 2: Da Peacock if you have that. Or the NBC Sports Network.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Wouldn't they carry the Dan Patrick show for a while?
- 14:33Speaker 1: Maybe they still do. I don't know.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure NBC Sports Network carries Dan Patrick. And
- 14:48Speaker 2: I believe this is also correct, that Dan has announced
- 14:52Speaker 2: that next year will be his last in the media business.
- 14:57Speaker 1: No, they don't carry it anymore. I know they used to,
- 15:00Speaker 1: didn't they?
- 15:02Speaker 13: Yeah, they stopped doing it in 2021.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Okay, so it's been a little while.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So did they carry, did he have his own, does
- 15:11Speaker 2: he have his own, like, is it your tube or
- 15:16Speaker 2: is it something else that carries Dan Peck? Because I
- 15:19Speaker 2: know it's, you know, I know it's videoed as well
- 15:22Speaker 2: as audioed.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Peacock. No way. So they moved it to Peacock, huh?
- 15:29Speaker 1: They want you to pay for Dan. I like Dan.
- 15:32Speaker 1: But I'm not paying for the peacock. Sorry.
- 15:36Speaker 2: But as we've said many, many times before, you people
- 15:41Speaker 2: better get used to paying for your sports that you've
- 15:44Speaker 2: enjoyed for free all your lives.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I mean, I get you're already paying for it. If
- 15:48Speaker 1: you have dish or.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Satellite or you're streaming, you know, so you're kind of
- 15:54Speaker 2: already paying for it.
- 15:55Speaker 1: But I'm telling you, you're going to be paying individual
- 15:58Speaker 1: for it.
- 15:59Speaker 7: Right.
- 16:00Speaker 1: So like in a few years.
- 16:02Speaker 2: The A & M Arkansas game, if you want to
- 16:05Speaker 2: see it, will be on the Peacock or some other
- 16:09Speaker 2: streaming platform that if you don't have, you're going to
- 16:13Speaker 2: have to pay for. If you don't believe that, I've
- 16:19Speaker 2: got some desert land in the middle of the Pacific
- 16:23Speaker 2: I can sell you.
- 16:25Speaker 1: It's going to happen. Because, you know, college football needs
- 16:30Speaker 1: more money. You've got to have more money. not making
- 16:32Speaker 1: enough money.
- 16:37Speaker 2: This Protect College Sports Act, I'm still not convinced that
- 16:43Speaker 2: it's going to become law. It's obvious that the House
- 16:47Speaker 2: is not going to take it up until after the elections.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It's not obvious that if they do take it up,
- 16:56Speaker 2: it will be passed. So while everybody is high-fiving that
- 17:03Speaker 2: this act has been passed in the Senate, it has
- 17:09Speaker 2: a long way to go. It's certainly not a slam dunk. Okay,
- 17:14Speaker 2: coming up this Saturday, Alabama, Mississippi State, in Stark, Vegas.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Here is Bama Coach Kalen DeBoer.
- 17:34Speaker 14: I just thought the improvement in a lot of areas
- 17:38Speaker 14: for our football team from week three to week four
- 17:40Speaker 14: showed up.
- 17:42Speaker 7: You heard from the coordinators.
- 17:44Speaker 14: I think the common theme that you continue to see
- 17:48Speaker 14: from this team, I talked about it after the game,
- 17:50Speaker 14: is just... A couple things, I think their composure and
- 17:54Speaker 14: just how they are with their emotional maturity, the critical
- 17:57Speaker 14: situations and not getting caught up in it and going
- 18:00Speaker 14: out and focusing on executing, making plays, even the emotional
- 18:04Speaker 14: piece of the game when things flare up and it
- 18:09Speaker 14: gets a little crazy there.
- 18:10Speaker 7: I thought our guys just respond.
- 18:12Speaker 14: We've been mentally disciplined and physically sharp. I think our
- 18:18Speaker 14: physicality shows up. Just proud of the guys in a
- 18:21Speaker 14: lot of those areas. Obviously, there's always things we've got
- 18:23Speaker 14: to improve, but I thought it was our most complete
- 18:26Speaker 14: game up to this point. We're going to get challenged
- 18:28Speaker 14: here this next week against a very, very good Mississippi
- 18:31Speaker 14: State team. Coach Levy's done an awesome job bringing these
- 18:34Speaker 14: guys together. They're off to a great start, going to
- 18:37Speaker 14: go into an environment we know that will challenge us.
- 18:44Speaker 7: Just got to continue to focus on our process, focus.
- 18:47Speaker 14: On us, And, you know, I think our guys really
- 18:50Speaker 14: believe and continue to evolve and continue to refine individually
- 18:54Speaker 14: the things throughout the week that help them play at
- 18:57Speaker 14: the highest level they can.
- 18:59Speaker 7: And, you know, it's just a hard reset.
- 19:01Speaker 14: And kind of some of the catchy phrases that we
- 19:05Speaker 14: refer to and, you know, resetting and starting over and
- 19:10Speaker 14: just working through Tuesday, Wednesday, you know, Thursday. I don't
- 19:14Speaker 14: care if it's meetings, practice, walkthroughs, stretch, training room. nutrition, sleep, uh,
- 19:20Speaker 14: it's all of it. And I think our guys, you know, um,
- 19:23Speaker 14: take care of themselves. And I think they also challenge
- 19:25Speaker 14: each other to, to make sure that, that, uh, those
- 19:29Speaker 14: things are all taken care of. So special teams, I
- 19:30Speaker 14: thought you hadn't heard from a coach Nunez, but, uh,
- 19:33Speaker 14: just thought they did a nice job. It wasn't this
- 19:36Speaker 14: game where he had big returns, um, but, uh, coming
- 19:40Speaker 14: from and facing a team that has a lot of, uh,
- 19:44Speaker 14: in times in the past where they've, they fake kicks and, uh,
- 19:48Speaker 14: had big returns for touchdowns. Um, I thought we were
- 19:51Speaker 14: very intentional on making sure, uh, those things were kept
- 19:55Speaker 14: intact and, uh, still got our opportunities to go make
- 19:58Speaker 14: some plays as well.
- 19:58Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 19:59Speaker 16: Do you, do you have an update on the, uh,
- 20:00Speaker 16: two injured offensive lineman, Javon James, Will Sanders, where they're
- 20:03Speaker 16: at right now?
- 20:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 14: Um, Will upper body, uh, injury during the game. Um,
- 20:10Speaker 14: I would expect that he would be able to play
- 20:12Speaker 14: on Saturday. So working through it here, but I would
- 20:14Speaker 14: expect that he'll be ready to go. And it just
- 20:18Speaker 14: kind of depends on what the week looks like. And
- 20:19Speaker 14: then Javen, lower extremity, I would say he's very much
- 20:25Speaker 14: questionable at this time. And so, again, we'll see how
- 20:28Speaker 14: the next 24, 48 hours, and I think that will
- 20:30Speaker 14: help kind of understand what that looks like at the
- 20:34Speaker 14: end of the week.
- 20:34Speaker 7: But I would say he's very questionable at this time
- 20:37Speaker 7: to play. Just sticking with that theme, you had two
- 20:42Speaker 7: edge rushers miss the game.
- 20:43Speaker 14: Just where do things stand with Justin Hill and Desmond Umazulu?
- 20:45Speaker 14: What's the status? Both of them will continue to miss
- 20:51Speaker 14: some time. Justin will not be as long. Des will
- 20:56Speaker 14: be a little further into the season. Justin's a lower
- 21:01Speaker 14: extremity as well as Des. Both happened in the Florida
- 21:05Speaker 14: State game and so Just, you know, those guys obviously
- 21:10Speaker 14: play valuable snaps for us, you know, get some other
- 21:12Speaker 14: guys to play some snaps that haven't got as many reps. And,
- 21:17Speaker 14: you know, other guys that are on the field played
- 21:19Speaker 14: played more snaps. So just, you know, it's unfortunate for
- 21:22Speaker 14: those guys because they're playing some good football for us.
- 21:25Speaker 17: What do you see from Mississippi State's defense from what
- 21:27Speaker 17: you've seen on film so far?
- 21:29Speaker 7: What do they look good at?
- 21:30Speaker 14: Yeah, just complimentary football. I think getting the ball back,
- 21:34Speaker 14: getting off the field, you know, getting the ball back
- 21:37Speaker 14: to the offense and just timely stops. Just I think
- 21:41Speaker 14: it's a group effort, flying guys flying around. And, you know,
- 21:46Speaker 14: they're going to be multiple in what they show you.
- 21:49Speaker 14: You know that, you know, for us, we just got
- 21:52Speaker 14: to continue to challenge and, show different looks and keep
- 21:56Speaker 14: everyone involved, threaten the vertical, horizontal stretching of the defense.
- 22:02Speaker 14: But a lot of respect for what they're doing right
- 22:04Speaker 14: now at this point of the year. I think just
- 22:07Speaker 14: complementary team football is what they're doing really well at
- 22:10Speaker 14: Mississippi State.
- 22:11Speaker 7: Explosive.
- 22:13Speaker 14: Obviously, their defense has to face that offense every day
- 22:15Speaker 14: in practice.
- 22:17Speaker 7: High level across the board. Go to Katie on the
- 22:20Speaker 7: back left.
- 22:21Speaker 18: You talked in your opening, you liked the emotional maturity
- 22:24Speaker 18: and response from your team in that game. But as
- 22:26Speaker 18: you're entering a tough stretch of SEC play, some road games,
- 22:28Speaker 18: how do you make sure that guys keep their cool
- 22:31Speaker 18: as you're going to be facing some maybe testy environments?
- 22:34Speaker 14: Well, we take every opportunity that we see within things
- 22:38Speaker 14: that happen to us in games and how our opponent responded.
- 22:43Speaker 7: We look at.
- 22:45Speaker 14: college football, NFL, uh, showed multiple clips across the country of,
- 22:51Speaker 14: you know, just things that, um, we don't want to
- 22:54Speaker 14: have happen within and, uh, what we want to, what
- 22:57Speaker 14: we don't represent. And so, uh, we use those examples
- 23:00Speaker 14: to make sure, uh, we're always on top of it
- 23:03Speaker 14: and don't take it for, I don't take it for
- 23:04Speaker 14: granted at all. And so just, uh, again, I think
- 23:07Speaker 14: our guys have handled themselves very well. Uh, we have
- 23:10Speaker 14: a group that is intense. Uh, they, uh, They play hard,
- 23:16Speaker 14: but we really take a lot of pride in doing
- 23:18Speaker 14: it the way the game's meant to be played, and
- 23:20Speaker 14: that's between the snap and the whistle at the end
- 23:23Speaker 14: of a play. I like the way our guys play.
- 23:27Speaker 14: I'm sure with Josh, his intensity has raised the level
- 23:31Speaker 14: of a lot of other guys around him. You couldn't
- 23:34Speaker 14: have a nicer guy as a person, but just nasty
- 23:38Speaker 14: on the football field and you know, we love that
- 23:41Speaker 14: about him, but he knows how to keep it within
- 23:43Speaker 14: the confines of what the game is supposed to be
- 23:45Speaker 14: played at and the parameters, uh, with the rules.
- 23:53Speaker 19: You've had a number of transfers make an impact this
- 23:55Speaker 19: early point in the year. How would you just assess
- 23:57Speaker 19: how Courtney Morgan, his team was able to identify these guys,
- 24:01Speaker 19: bring them in and then be able to acclimate them
- 24:03Speaker 19: in a way where they can't make an impact?
- 24:05Speaker 7: Yeah, you bet.
- 24:06Speaker 14: Uh, I think Courtney just does a great job of
- 24:09Speaker 14: seeing the big picture.
- 24:11Speaker 7: We're meeting every single week.
- 24:14Speaker 14: His staff with the offensive side of the ball, his
- 24:17Speaker 14: staff with the defensive side of the ball. We wrap
- 24:19Speaker 14: up on the weekend as a full staff and how
- 24:24Speaker 14: recruiting is going and anything that everyone needed to know
- 24:27Speaker 14: because we do it as a full staff. That's the
- 24:30Speaker 14: way we want our recruiting to be. That's the way
- 24:32Speaker 14: our team is. It's all in together. But I think
- 24:36Speaker 14: just communication. I think there's great evaluation. I think there's
- 24:39Speaker 14: an understanding of what our team is and what we need,
- 24:44Speaker 14: you know, from year to year, whether that's.
- 24:47Speaker 7: The high school level, a couple of transfers.
- 24:50Speaker 14: But, you know, and then just the process of of
- 24:54Speaker 14: going through and, you know, kind of working through the
- 24:57Speaker 14: character piece of it. You know, there's a lot of
- 25:01Speaker 14: phone calls that are made to people to find out,
- 25:04Speaker 14: you know, because everyone can turn on the film and
- 25:06Speaker 14: see what pops off the screen and why everyone around
- 25:09Speaker 14: the country wants certain prospects.
- 25:11Speaker 7: It doesn't matter what level. It's the other pieces.
- 25:15Speaker 14: And we've brought in some guys that I think really
- 25:19Speaker 14: have adapted well. We would have anticipated that because of
- 25:22Speaker 14: our research and understanding of these guys and their character, but, uh,
- 25:26Speaker 14: they've come in and made an impact with their effort,
- 25:29Speaker 14: with their, you know, just the energy, um, just, you know,
- 25:33Speaker 14: putting the team first and, um, you know, the guys
- 25:36Speaker 14: in our program, uh, it made it really easy for
- 25:39Speaker 14: them to be open arms for guys that like that,
- 25:42Speaker 14: that wanted to help our program and also be their best.
- 25:45Speaker 7: Go back to the front left and.
- 25:46Speaker 20: Go to Colin.
- 25:47Speaker 21: Hey, Alan, this is, this is a game that y'all
- 25:49Speaker 21: haven't seen, um, in this regime, uh, against Mississippi state.
- 25:52Speaker 21: I'm wondering, um, Because Alabama has seen Mississippi State more
- 25:57Speaker 21: than a lot of teams. The renewal of this rivalry
- 26:01Speaker 21: or this back and forth against this team, what's the
- 26:05Speaker 21: relationship between focusing on this as well as recognizing the
- 26:09Speaker 21: historical impact?
- 26:10Speaker 14: Yeah, just personally, this is one of those stadiums I
- 26:12Speaker 14: haven't been in, played in, no matter where I've been.
- 26:16Speaker 14: And so just what I hear from the people that
- 26:20Speaker 14: I trust, it's going to be an absolute crazy environment.
- 26:24Speaker 7: And, uh, we're going to be prepared for that.
- 26:25Speaker 14: We talked about it as a team this morning and, uh,
- 26:28Speaker 14: you know, we're looking for that challenge that we got
- 26:30Speaker 14: to improve on the, the, the way we started, uh,
- 26:33Speaker 14: the last road game. I think we've made a lot
- 26:35Speaker 14: of strides in that way and we've, we've learned and
- 26:37Speaker 14: grown since then. And so, um, you know, the week
- 26:41Speaker 14: of preparation and us being our best, uh, is, is
- 26:45Speaker 14: going to be important for us to go out there and,
- 26:47Speaker 14: and do what we need to do, uh, to have
- 26:49Speaker 14: success on Saturday against Mississippi state who, again, you know,
- 26:53Speaker 14: playing really good football.
- 26:55Speaker 22: Kalen, I think four of the next five teams that
- 26:57Speaker 22: you guys will play are currently ranked right now.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Just how important is this stretch for your team here
- 27:03Speaker 5: this season?
- 27:04Speaker 7: Yeah, it's this week.
- 27:07Speaker 14: You know, you see the schedule in the offseason and,
- 27:11Speaker 14: you know, just the way we looked at it, there
- 27:13Speaker 14: was no teams that were just going to, you know,
- 27:18Speaker 14: roll over for us or anything like that right and
- 27:20Speaker 14: so you got to pour everything into that particular week
- 27:24Speaker 14: and that's what our guys have done I think a
- 27:26Speaker 14: really good job of so far when anticipating anything different
- 27:30Speaker 14: and then we focus on the next game and that
- 27:32Speaker 14: next game becomes the most important one and so you
- 27:35Speaker 14: know I just all efforts will be on Mississippi State
- 27:38Speaker 14: this week but it's one game at a time, you know,
- 27:41Speaker 14: just a year ago, we would have looked at a
- 27:43Speaker 14: slate of games and felt the same way. And you
- 27:46Speaker 14: can't even, I couldn't even tell you the order of
- 27:48Speaker 14: the games that we have to play here in October.
- 27:50Speaker 7: Um, I know which one is this weekend.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Is there anything you've changed in how you handle these
- 27:58Speaker 2: new road environments from when you first got here?
- 28:02Speaker 14: Uh, no, I think, I think, um, you know, the,
- 28:05Speaker 14: the crowd noise and everything we're doing during the week, uh,
- 28:09Speaker 14: is important. Um, and how we incorporate that in, you
- 28:12Speaker 14: want to be able to, I mean, you know, every
- 28:15Speaker 14: coordinator does a little different between, uh, you know, even
- 28:18Speaker 14: coach Womack has to work on. And we had to
- 28:20Speaker 14: have issues that we worked through a little bit, even
- 28:22Speaker 14: with our home crowd noise. We want that now keep
- 28:24Speaker 14: that going.
- 28:25Speaker 7: Okay.
- 28:26Speaker 14: And we'll figure that out, but, uh, just little pieces
- 28:28Speaker 14: of communication that we got to clean up.
- 28:31Speaker 7: And that's where, you know, from.
- 28:32Speaker 14: Week to week, um, you know, we know that, uh,
- 28:36Speaker 14: this week we've got to work on that crowd noise and,
- 28:39Speaker 14: probably a lot of cowbells that we'll be hearing during
- 28:40Speaker 14: practice in one form or fashion. So, uh, just, you know,
- 28:44Speaker 14: this week, I think the other thing is just an
- 28:46Speaker 14: early game, you know, 11 o'clock kickoff. And so, you know,
- 28:49Speaker 14: we're a morning practice team. And so I've had success, uh,
- 28:53Speaker 14: I think with those morning games, but, um, we've got
- 28:55Speaker 14: to go on the road and travel that morning.
- 28:57Speaker 7: So it's going to be a little different, uh, get
- 28:59Speaker 7: different set up that way too.
- 29:00Speaker 14: So, uh, just being intentional and, uh, challenging our guys,
- 29:04Speaker 14: these guys, uh, They all care. They care so much,
- 29:07Speaker 14: and so they'll put the work in.
- 29:09Speaker 7: They'll be intentional.
- 29:10Speaker 14: They'll bank some sleep, some extra hours throughout the week
- 29:13Speaker 14: to make sure they're ready to go on Saturday.
- 29:15Speaker 2: It's Kalen DeBoer. They've got quite the schedule, by the way.
- 29:18Speaker 2: They're at Stark Vegas this week. Then they host Georgia.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Then they go to Tennessee. They host A & M.
- 29:30Speaker 2: They go to LSU. They end with Auburn. Pretty good
- 29:35Speaker 2: stretch of games. May not look quite as daunting, except
- 29:43Speaker 2: for that Georgia game and then LSU. I'm guessing that'll
- 29:48Speaker 2: be a night game. But Alabama has a history with Georgia.
- 29:54Speaker 2: They do well against Georgia. They're the only school in
- 29:58Speaker 2: the SEC that does well against Georgia.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So, and I like the quarterback. I like this Alabama team.
- 30:06Speaker 2: I told you, did I not, in August, when we
- 30:11Speaker 2: did our preview, that Tide was ranked, came in like
- 30:15Speaker 2: preseason fifth or sixth, something like that.
- 30:18Speaker 1: I go, nah. Alabama's not going to finish sixth in
- 30:22Speaker 1: the SEC this year. I'm going to stand by that.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I hadn't seen anything that would change my mind on
- 30:29Speaker 2: that deal. We'll see how that goes. This just in,
- 30:34Speaker 2: by the way. The White Sox won the Astros nothing.
- 30:41Speaker 2: First inning, Houston. Won nothing, White Sox. They are on
- 30:48Speaker 2: their way. Sevchek Service Center, open right now until 6 o'clock.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I was talking to a friend this morning. He was
- 30:56Speaker 1: giving me a Pat story.
- 30:59Speaker 2: And how Pat has a habit of helping people. And
- 31:08Speaker 2: I go, you know, Pat's just a dead ringer for
- 31:11Speaker 2: his dad, Leon. That's how Leon started the business. It's
- 31:16Speaker 2: like he is going to take care of the customer
- 31:20Speaker 2: every single time and still doing it. Pat is still
- 31:25Speaker 2: doing it, carrying on that Sevchuk family tradition every single day.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Whether you need a flat tire fixed or you need
- 31:36Speaker 2: some extensive work done to your car, foreign or domestic,
- 31:41Speaker 2: gasoline or diesel engine, the people at Sevchuk's have been.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Doing this for over a half century now.
- 31:52Speaker 2: And I've been part of that for most of that time,
- 31:57Speaker 2: to be real honest with you. If you hadn't figured
- 31:59Speaker 2: that out yet, it's past time. They're open 7 to 6,
- 32:04Speaker 2: Monday through Friday and Saturdays, 7 to 4, at Sevchek
- 32:08Speaker 2: Service Center, 2200 Longmire, just out from the post office
- 32:12Speaker 2: in College Station.
- 32:13Speaker 23: Since 1957, Slovachik Sausage and Snook has been making the
- 32:18Speaker 23: best-tasting sausage in Texas from the same family recipe. Slovachik
- 32:22Speaker 23: is the official sausage of Texas A & M Athletics.
- 32:25Speaker 23: Whether it's from the grill to the family gathering or
- 32:28Speaker 23: from the pit to the neighborhood party, serve the sausage
- 32:31Speaker 23: voted best in the Brazos Valley. Serve Slovacic. Be sure
- 32:34Speaker 23: to come in and check out their full-service meat market,
- 32:37Speaker 23: relax on the front porch, or grab some fresh kolaches
- 32:40Speaker 23: from their bakery on your way out. Slovacic Sausage, Highway
- 32:43Speaker 23: 60 in Snook.
- 32:44Speaker 12: Make the zone a part of your tailgate, back porch gate,
- 32:47Speaker 12: home gate. Make the zone a part of your Aggie
- 32:50Speaker 12: Football Saturday. Game day on the zone, brought to you
- 32:54Speaker 12: in part by Original Chop Shop, Ford of Madisonville, Kelly
- 32:57Speaker 12: Burt Dozer, and... techsags.com. It all starts with the game
- 33:02Speaker 12: day show. Of course, you hear every Aggie football game,
- 33:05Speaker 12: home road, it doesn't matter, here on The Zone. And then,
- 33:08Speaker 12: the call-in show after every A & M home game.
- 33:10Speaker 12: Spend your Aggie football Saturdays here on The Zone.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Hey, June.
- 33:17Speaker 6: Don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make
- 33:25Speaker 6: it better. Remember to let her into your heart. Then
- 33:33Speaker 6: you can start to make it better.
- 33:38Speaker 13: Welcome into the high school report. I'm Caleb Rapley, and
- 33:41Speaker 13: today we're jumping out to the Polaris Fun Center phone
- 33:44Speaker 13: line to visit with the head coach of the Normandie
- 33:47Speaker 13: Panthers football team, Mr. Chris Sexton. Coach, thanks for joining
- 33:50Speaker 13: me today.
- 33:51Speaker 24: I appreciate it. Thank you.
- 33:54Speaker 13: Absolutely. Well, it is everybody's favorite time of year here
- 33:58Speaker 13: in Texas as football season is fully underway with all
- 34:02Speaker 13: three levels of football in action. Almost halfway through the
- 34:08Speaker 13: regular season, For high school football now, as crazy as
- 34:11Speaker 13: that is to say, your Panthers sitting at 2-3 on
- 34:15Speaker 13: the season just got done with the first week of
- 34:18Speaker 13: district play. So what have you seen from your team
- 34:21Speaker 13: so far in 2026, Coach, and what are some of
- 34:24Speaker 13: your takeaways from the first half of the regular season?
- 34:26Speaker 24: Our kids, I've been super proud of how our kids
- 34:30Speaker 24: play on Friday night. They play really hard. They never
- 34:34Speaker 24: back down. And we play four quarters hard. Right now
- 34:38Speaker 24: what we're trying to figure out how to do is
- 34:39Speaker 24: execute at a higher level. And we're trying to figure
- 34:42Speaker 24: out how to become a championship practice team. For a
- 34:46Speaker 24: lot of high school teams and high school kids, practice
- 34:48Speaker 24: is not the funnest, but we've got to learn that
- 34:50Speaker 24: practice is important. And in order to get the execution
- 34:53Speaker 24: that we want on Friday night, we have to execute
- 34:57Speaker 24: and make practice important Monday through Thursday. The season so far,
- 35:01Speaker 24: we started out 2-0. Everybody was excited, and then the
- 35:05Speaker 24: injury bug hit us. We lost our starting quarterback and
- 35:09Speaker 24: backup quarterback in the first game. Our starting quarterback came
- 35:13Speaker 24: back last week and picked up. Ray left off, had
- 35:17Speaker 24: a couple of rested touchdowns through for, I think it
- 35:20Speaker 24: was 170 yards or so. Had a pretty decent game
- 35:25Speaker 24: in his game back. But it wasn't enough. Defensively, we
- 35:30Speaker 24: have played pretty well all season long. Very physical style
- 35:35Speaker 24: of defense. And we've been a team that can make
- 35:41Speaker 24: stops when we need to. We've been bend but don't break.
- 35:43Speaker 24: It's kind of just whatever we needed that week for
- 35:46Speaker 24: it to be. And so I've been super proud. The
- 35:50Speaker 24: turnover bug has kind of hit us a little bit.
- 35:53Speaker 24: Especially in our home games, we've turned the ball over.
- 35:56Speaker 24: In our first home game against Alto, in our first loss,
- 36:00Speaker 24: we turned the ball over eight times. And last week,
- 36:03Speaker 24: we turned the ball over four times. And our defense
- 36:07Speaker 24: has stepped up in a big way after some of
- 36:08Speaker 24: those turnovers in order to get some stops. But if
- 36:11Speaker 24: you keep giving the other team the ball enough times,
- 36:13Speaker 24: they're going to find a way to put it in
- 36:14Speaker 24: the end zone.
- 36:16Speaker 13: So this is your first season as the head coach
- 36:19Speaker 13: at Normandie.
- 36:20Speaker 15: Yes.
- 36:21Speaker 13: You know, it's a pretty experienced team overall, I think,
- 36:25Speaker 13: bringing back, I think it was seven starters on offense,
- 36:28Speaker 13: eight on defense. But for you, you know, these are
- 36:31Speaker 13: all new players as far as you're concerned. So how
- 36:34Speaker 13: has that impacted your first year as the coach at Normandie?
- 36:39Speaker 24: A lot of learning has taken place by everybody. The kids,
- 36:42Speaker 24: the new coaches, me learning the kids, learning the coaches,
- 36:45Speaker 24: learning how they respond to different things, learning how they
- 36:49Speaker 24: respond to being coached. But the biggest deal is we're
- 36:53Speaker 24: still trying to learn our offense. The defense is ahead
- 36:56Speaker 24: right now. We're pretty simplistic on defense, but we fly around. Offensively,
- 37:02Speaker 24: we're still trying to pick it up. We're still trying
- 37:03Speaker 24: to learn our reads, blocking rules, blocking assignments when we
- 37:07Speaker 24: get different looks up front. So it's just a process,
- 37:11Speaker 24: and that's what I told them it was going to
- 37:12Speaker 24: be from the beginning. I had an interview early on
- 37:15Speaker 24: where I told them, and they put it out, Rome's
- 37:18Speaker 24: not built in a day. Um, and another thing that
- 37:21Speaker 24: has been something that we've had to overcome is that
- 37:24Speaker 24: I'm their third head coach in three years. So, uh,
- 37:27Speaker 24: we're still, it took a long time to start trying
- 37:30Speaker 24: to build that trust. And I think we've done a
- 37:32Speaker 24: pretty good job, uh, both kids and coaches of learning
- 37:35Speaker 24: to trust each other. Um, and we still got some
- 37:38Speaker 24: room to grow there, uh, but it's come a long way.
- 37:42Speaker 24: We've taken a lot of steps forward, um, with some
- 37:45Speaker 24: steps back here and there, but we've I've been proud
- 37:50Speaker 24: of the trajectory we've been on. Yeah, we've lost our
- 37:56Speaker 24: last three, but I've gotten nothing but compliments from people
- 37:59Speaker 24: about how well our kids played, how well they looked prepared,
- 38:03Speaker 24: how well we handled ourselves. Those are the big steps
- 38:10Speaker 24: that we are taking forward, but we've got many more
- 38:13Speaker 24: steps to take forward in order to become a championship
- 38:16Speaker 24: program like we want to build here.
- 38:18Speaker 13: So the back half of the schedule, all district games,
- 38:21Speaker 13: of course, three games on the road, two at home.
- 38:25Speaker 13: And this district, this is a group of teams that
- 38:28Speaker 13: has largely stayed the same, even though realignment did shift
- 38:32Speaker 13: this district from Region 3 to Region 4. But the
- 38:35Speaker 13: core teams, Normandie, Centerville, Leon, Corrigan, Camden, have all stayed
- 38:39Speaker 13: the same. And in your experience as a coach, you know,
- 38:44Speaker 13: spent a lot of time in East Texas as an
- 38:46Speaker 13: offensive coordinator, so I'm sure you're familiar with a lot
- 38:49Speaker 13: of these programs, even though it's your first year as
- 38:51Speaker 13: the head coach at Normandie. But what are your thoughts
- 38:55Speaker 13: on District 14 and some of the challenges you might
- 38:58Speaker 13: face in the last five games of the season here
- 39:00Speaker 13: as you try to get the Panthers back to the playoffs?
- 39:03Speaker 24: There are no easy games in this district. This week
- 39:07Speaker 24: we have Centerville, and Centerville is going to be a
- 39:10Speaker 24: tough physical team like they always are. Leon has been up.
- 39:15Speaker 24: Coach Thomas has done a great job over there. There's
- 39:19Speaker 24: no easy weeks in this district. I feel like this
- 39:22Speaker 24: district is continuing to get tougher every year. It's just
- 39:30Speaker 24: a tough district. I don't know how else to put it.
- 39:33Speaker 24: I don't really know much else to say. All the
- 39:35Speaker 24: coaches do a pretty great job with their teams, getting
- 39:38Speaker 24: them prepared for each school each week. The kids everywhere
- 39:43Speaker 24: in every for every district team is going to play
- 39:47Speaker 24: hard because we're all in kind of close proximity to
- 39:50Speaker 24: each other so all the kids know each other so
- 39:53Speaker 24: they all want to beat each other when they're not
- 39:56Speaker 24: uh hanging out or friends wherever else they are they
- 39:59Speaker 24: all want to beat each other so you're going to
- 40:01Speaker 24: get everybody's best shot every.
- 40:02Speaker 13: Week you mentioned uh the centerville tigers which of course
- 40:05Speaker 13: is a not just a district game that's crucial to
- 40:09Speaker 13: the season for y'all, but also, like you said, there's
- 40:11Speaker 13: some rivalry there with having three teams in this district
- 40:14Speaker 13: all in Leon County, Leon, Centerville, and Normandy. So what
- 40:18Speaker 13: do you expect to see from the Tigers? What are
- 40:20Speaker 13: going to be some keys to success for your team
- 40:23Speaker 13: on Friday night?
- 40:25Speaker 24: We have to stop the run. That's When it comes
- 40:29Speaker 24: to being on defense, we have to stop the run.
- 40:30Speaker 24: They do a really good job and Coach Hardy's been
- 40:33Speaker 24: doing a great job over there for years. Those kids
- 40:37Speaker 24: know their offense inside and out. So we've got to
- 40:41Speaker 24: stop the run. We've got to find a way to
- 40:42Speaker 24: stop the run. We've got to match their physicality because
- 40:45Speaker 24: one thing you can count on with Centerville is that
- 40:47Speaker 24: they're going to be physical up front. The running backs
- 40:50Speaker 24: are going to be physical. The running backs do a
- 40:52Speaker 24: great job of finding the holes and understanding where the
- 40:55Speaker 24: blocks and understanding where everything is going to open up.
- 40:58Speaker 24: And we got to find a way to fill and
- 41:02Speaker 24: make those holes disappear as soon as possible. So it's
- 41:07Speaker 24: going to be what I said the other day, I
- 41:09Speaker 24: told somebody it's going to be a rock fight and
- 41:11Speaker 24: it's turning. It looks like it's going to be even
- 41:13Speaker 24: more of a rock fight. Now that we've got this
- 41:14Speaker 24: rain coming in, it looks like it's going to be
- 41:16Speaker 24: raining and um come friday night it looks like we're
- 41:19Speaker 24: going to have rain all weekend long so um even
- 41:23Speaker 24: more of a reason that we've got to find a
- 41:24Speaker 24: way to stop the run or it could turn into
- 41:26Speaker 24: a long night for us all.
- 41:28Speaker 13: Right last question for you here coach circling back to
- 41:31Speaker 13: what we were talking about earlier with all these kids
- 41:33Speaker 13: knowing each other um they're very familiar these towns are
- 41:36Speaker 13: all pretty close together uh how much do you think
- 41:38Speaker 13: that helps the environment on friday nights and the that
- 41:41Speaker 13: sense of you know kind of the school pride when
- 41:43Speaker 13: you're going up against uh one of your rivals.
- 41:46Speaker 24: The environments are awesome, especially here at Normandy. When I
- 41:51Speaker 24: first got here, man, they'd been down, not a lot
- 41:55Speaker 24: of winds. And when I got here, our first scrimmage,
- 41:59Speaker 24: our stands are full. And so... the support that we
- 42:03Speaker 24: get here in Normandy alone is awesome. But when you're
- 42:06Speaker 24: talking about, we have a community that I live in
- 42:10Speaker 24: here at Hilltop lakes, where a bunch of the kids
- 42:12Speaker 24: that live there to also go to Leon. I mean,
- 42:16Speaker 24: these kids, everybody's going to show up Friday night because
- 42:19Speaker 24: everybody knows each other. You're, you might be a next
- 42:21Speaker 24: door neighbor to somebody that you are playing that night,
- 42:25Speaker 24: but net and on that night, you've got to sit
- 42:27Speaker 24: across the field from them. So, and everybody's got to
- 42:31Speaker 24: work with each other. So the parents and the people
- 42:34Speaker 24: that work with each other want the bragging rights when
- 42:36Speaker 24: they go into work on Monday morning about how well
- 42:39Speaker 24: their team did and who won. So the environments on
- 42:43Speaker 24: Friday night have been awesome, and I just expect them
- 42:47Speaker 24: to get even better as we get deeper into the
- 42:50Speaker 24: district schedule.
- 42:52Speaker 13: All right, Coach. Well, I appreciate your time today, and
- 42:54Speaker 13: good luck to your Panthers the rest of this season.
- 42:56Speaker 24: I appreciate it. Thank you.

- 45:35Speaker 11: The Houston Texans are reeling after a heartbreaking loss to
- 45:39Speaker 11: the Indianapolis Colts this past Sunday. The Texans went into
- 45:42Speaker 11: the season with sky-high expectations, but are now 0-3 on
- 45:47Speaker 11: the year. Head coach D'Amico Ryan spoke yesterday on needing
- 45:50Speaker 11: to adjust the offense going forward.
- 45:53Speaker 27: The thing for me about offensive football is you have
- 45:56Speaker 27: to make sure you move the ball and try to
- 45:59Speaker 27: score as many points as possible. How that looked to me,
- 46:02Speaker 27: it really doesn't matter. You can think or want to
- 46:04Speaker 27: be a certain thing, right? But if you're shown that
- 46:07Speaker 27: that's not the case and it's not getting done, then
- 46:10Speaker 27: you have to adjust, right? And that's where we are.
- 46:12Speaker 27: We have to adjust some things. Of course, it's not
- 46:14Speaker 27: going right.
- 46:15Speaker 7: We're 0-3, not where we want to be.
- 46:17Speaker 27: So we got to adjust and rethink all the things
- 46:20Speaker 27: that we're doing to put us in a better position
- 46:22Speaker 27: to win.
- 46:23Speaker 11: The Texans' next game will be this Sunday when they
- 46:25Speaker 11: host the Dallas Cowboys. Kickoff is set for 12, coverage
- 46:30Speaker 11: on Fox. With your Houston Texans report, I'm Adam C.

- 48:37Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us.
- 48:39Speaker 2: Glad to have you with us on this Tuesday. If
- 48:46Speaker 2: I'm asked about this, I will deny it. But we're
- 48:50Speaker 2: going to play a bit of Jeremy Pena. Now, he's
- 48:55Speaker 2: busy right now, losing to the White Sox 3-0. But
- 48:59Speaker 2: the reason I'm playing this is because he's spending a
- 49:03Speaker 2: lot of time talking about Jordan Alvarez, who has carried
- 49:08Speaker 2: this Astros team into the playoffs.
- 49:12Speaker 1: And, you know.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I was just listening to somebody. maybe it was MLB,
- 49:20Speaker 2: talking about the four must-see players in baseball, and Jordan
- 49:25Speaker 2: was not on that list. And the reason he's not
- 49:29Speaker 2: on the list is I'll just say he's from the Astros.
- 49:32Speaker 2: I mean, if he was with the Yankees or the
- 49:34Speaker 2: Dodgers or You know, Tani was.
- 49:37Speaker 7: On the list.
- 49:37Speaker 2: Aaron Judge was on the list. The pitcher in Milwaukee
- 49:40Speaker 2: was on the list. And there was one more somewhere,
- 49:46Speaker 2: and I can't think of it right now. But, you know,
- 49:50Speaker 2: this guy is without question one of the top players
- 49:56Speaker 2: in the game and probably should be the MVP this
- 49:59Speaker 2: year of the American League. I'm not sure he's going
- 50:02Speaker 2: to make it, but he should be. Here is Jeremy Pena.
- 50:08Speaker 28: You've seen a lot of great players come through here,
- 50:11Speaker 28: but what he did this season, what set him apart?
- 50:15Speaker 5: Special.
- 50:16Speaker 22: You know, if there was one word to describe the year,
- 50:18Speaker 22: I would say it was special. He was so consistent
- 50:21Speaker 22: from the beginning to the end, you know, and he
- 50:26Speaker 22: carried us. You know, he carried our offense, and he's
- 50:29Speaker 22: one of the key reasons why we're in the postseason
- 50:30Speaker 22: right now. Christy in the front.
- 50:37Speaker 17: Jeremy, obviously you've been to the playoffs before, but does
- 50:40Speaker 17: this one feel different or maybe mean a little bit
- 50:41Speaker 17: more because you guys had to work through so much
- 50:43Speaker 17: adversity and go through so much.
- 50:45Speaker 5: Just to get to this point? There were definitely ups
- 50:48Speaker 5: and downs.
- 50:49Speaker 22: Last year was tough for us to miss the postseason,
- 50:55Speaker 22: and this year we had a lot of ups, a
- 50:58Speaker 22: lot of downs.
- 51:00Speaker 5: But we're in, and that's what matters. So we go
- 51:03Speaker 5: from here. Chandler on the left.
- 51:08Speaker 17: Jeremy, hitting ahead of Jordan, especially when you get on base,
- 51:11Speaker 17: I guess where's the balance in wanting to be aggressive,
- 51:14Speaker 17: wanting to maybe steal if you can, but understanding that
- 51:16Speaker 17: if you do, they may walk him, or if you
- 51:18Speaker 17: get thrown out, it could be one less runner on base.
- 51:22Speaker 17: Where is that balance, and does the playoffs maybe change
- 51:24Speaker 17: that mindset when you do have to be more aggressive?
- 51:28Speaker 22: I mean, you're on first base with Jordan hitting. You're
- 51:31Speaker 22: in scoring position. He's special with the bat. You don't
- 51:37Speaker 22: want to take the bat away from him. But at
- 51:38Speaker 22: the same time, I feel like if I could be aggressive,
- 51:41Speaker 22: I have the green light to be aggressive. We just
- 51:45Speaker 22: got to see the situation in the game and play
- 51:48Speaker 22: by that.
- 51:54Speaker 28: Joe just talked to us about how you guys have
- 51:56Speaker 28: constantly been able to overcome adversity. What is it with
- 52:00Speaker 28: the makeup of this team, the veterans and the young guys,
- 52:03Speaker 28: that's allowed you guys to do this and see it
- 52:05Speaker 28: through to the postseason?
- 52:07Speaker 5: I'd say it's a culture.
- 52:09Speaker 22: We have players that as soon as they step foot
- 52:11Speaker 22: in the clubhouse, they know what's expected.
- 52:15Speaker 5: They know the standard.
- 52:17Speaker 22: Everyone's on the same page. We all show up with
- 52:25Speaker 22: one goal in mind, which is to win ballgames. Everyone
- 52:28Speaker 22: always puts their part into it.
- 52:36Speaker 29: Jeremy, I know you talked about you guys are in now,
- 52:39Speaker 29: but talk about this team's opportunity and if all that
- 52:42Speaker 29: you went through this year gives you kind of a,
- 52:45Speaker 29: I don't know, a leg up or a boost to
- 52:46Speaker 29: face whatever comes next.
- 52:49Speaker 22: I say everyone starts from zero. Everyone starts from zero.
- 52:53Speaker 22: Everyone's going to give their best. We're going to give
- 52:55Speaker 22: our best. You're going to put your best players out there.
- 52:57Speaker 22: We're Like I said, let the best man win. You know,
- 53:05Speaker 22: the records in the regular season, they don't matter now.
- 53:07Speaker 22: You know, everyone's starting from scratch.
- 53:10Speaker 5: And it's a short tournament. So, see what happens.
- 53:15Speaker 7: Hey, Jeremy.
- 53:18Speaker 20: You closed the season pretty strong in the last couple
- 53:21Speaker 20: of weeks at the plate. What do you feel, how
- 53:23Speaker 20: are you feeling kind of at, the plate right now
- 53:26Speaker 20: compared to where you were maybe two three weeks ago
- 53:27Speaker 20: and what do you feel like has been the biggest
- 53:29Speaker 20: difference over the last couple weeks for.
- 53:30Speaker 22: You I feel good you know the body feels good
- 53:34Speaker 22: the head's in the right spot and yeah I'm pretty
- 53:38Speaker 22: content with the work we're putting in before the games
- 53:42Speaker 22: the preparation we're putting in before the games the plans
- 53:45Speaker 22: that we come up with to attack the day to
- 53:47Speaker 22: attack the pitchers and you know it's just the flows
- 53:50Speaker 22: of the season you know you're gonna have ups you're
- 53:53Speaker 22: gonna have downs but it's knowing how to navigate those.
- 53:56Speaker 7: A little front row, then Christy.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Jeremy, as someone who had great success your first time
- 54:04Speaker 3: in the playoffs, how much do you.
- 54:05Speaker 2: Think playoff experience matters? And are there jitters, you think,
- 54:09Speaker 2: when there are people like the White Sox who.
- 54:11Speaker 4: Haven't been in the playoffs in a long time?
- 54:13Speaker 22: I would say playoff experience always matters. I always say
- 54:17Speaker 22: that you need to have.
- 54:23Speaker 5: The experience to stay cool, calm, and collected.
- 54:25Speaker 22: And do what you've been doing all year. You know,
- 54:27Speaker 22: you need to just focus at the task at hand.
- 54:31Speaker 22: Ignore all the outside noise. It feels like every game
- 54:35Speaker 22: gets magnified. But just keep it simple. Play a game.
- 54:40Speaker 5: Have fun.
- 54:41Speaker 7: Compete.
- 54:43Speaker 5: And let the results take care of themselves.
- 54:45Speaker 2: Jeremy Pena, he's been really good this year. And the
- 54:47Speaker 2: Astros got out of the jam. in the second inning.
- 54:51Speaker 2: They had bases loaded, no outs. White Sox had already
- 54:54Speaker 2: scored two runs, but they still had bases loaded and
- 54:59Speaker 2: no outs.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Who'd they bring in?
- 55:01Speaker 2: They brought in a third pitcher and really shut things
- 55:05Speaker 2: down and kept them in the game. The game was
- 55:12Speaker 2: about to get away.
- 55:15Speaker 23: Miguel Lola?
- 55:18Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 55:19Speaker 28: I don't know.
- 55:21Speaker 1: See a pitch for him all year?
- 55:24Speaker 2: I guess.
- 55:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 55:27Speaker 2: In relief?
- 55:28Speaker 7: Okay.
- 55:29Speaker 2: I don't know him.
- 55:31Speaker 7: Okay.
- 55:32Speaker 1: That's enough of that. That's all you'll get from the
- 55:35Speaker 1: Astros for now. So you'll take it and you'll like it.
- 55:40Speaker 7: All right.
- 55:41Speaker 2: We're going to take a break. We're going to close
- 55:43Speaker 2: out the first hour. We've got another hour to come.
- 55:46Speaker 2: Don't go anywhere. I want to give you a phone
- 55:50Speaker 2: number that you need to keep handy. That's Joe Orsak
- 55:54Speaker 2: at MarbleCraft. You're going to redo your kitchen or bath
- 55:58Speaker 2: or add a room. Joe and his staff have been
- 56:02Speaker 2: doing this a long time, for over 25 years.
- 56:04Speaker 1: 846-3881 is the number.
- 56:05Speaker 24: 846-3881.
- 56:06Speaker 1: You can go by the showroom in.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Bryan at West Carson and Finfeather and check out The
- 56:18Speaker 2: work that they do with granite quartz countertops, like I said,
- 56:24Speaker 2: start to finish. You call them, they'll give you the price,
- 56:29Speaker 2: and that's what it'll be. And they'll tear all the
- 56:33Speaker 2: old stuff out, and they'll put all the new stuff in.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Joe's done work for me, for my daughter, just finished
- 56:42Speaker 2: a bathroom there. You probably have a neighbor that he
- 56:45Speaker 2: has worked for. you're not going to hear anything bad
- 56:49Speaker 2: about what they do every day. They go to work
- 56:54Speaker 2: to make sure they're going to do what they say
- 56:55Speaker 2: they're going to do. Go online at marblecraftbcs.com. marblecraftbcs.com.
- 57:05Speaker 28: This is C & J Barbecue.
- 57:08Speaker 26: Okay, so for the ad, I'm thinking fog machines, laser lights,
- 57:12Speaker 26: maybe a.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Do kids eat free?
- 57:14Speaker 4: Uh, yes.
- 57:15Speaker 7: Like, actually free?
