- 1:33So the book we're going to talk about today is called The Time of the Signs, a chronology
- 1:40of Earth's final events.
- 1:42It's from Pastor Barry Stagner and he and his wife Terry grew up and resided Orange County
- 1:47California.
- 1:48I used to live there.
- 1:49It seems like a lot of years ago at this point, but they've been married since 1977.
- 1:54Wow.
- 1:55There is the senior pastor of Calvary Central OC in Costa Mesa, California.
- 2:00He's the host of The Line Up, which discusses world events in Bible prophecy every week.
- 2:06He's also the author of six books to date and he and his wife frequently speak at
- 2:12conferences, retreats, they address top topics of marriage, ministry, prophecy.
- 2:17We've got two children, four grandchildren, and his YouTube channel, The Truth about
- 2:23God.
- 2:24And that's Barry Stagner, The Truth about God, brother, so good to have you on Worldview
- 2:29Matters.
- 2:30And it's great to see you.
- 2:31Welcome.
- 2:32Well, thank you so much.
- 2:33It's a privilege to be on with you, David.
- 2:35So yeah.
- 2:36Well, you're most welcome.
- 2:37The book.
- 2:38Just the title alone, the sign of The Time of the Signs because people think about the
- 2:41sign of the times, but you flipped it.
- 2:44So I'm sure that's gathered or garnered a lot of attention and a lot of people have
- 2:49been talking about it.
- 2:51Why this book now at this point based on what you've written before, why this one now?
- 2:56Well, I think there's a lot of questions as to the when will this or how does this
- 3:02feed into that that, you know, there's a lot of talk out there and a lot of opinions
- 3:06out there.
- 3:07So I just wanted to take it from a biblical perspective, answer things as best as possible
- 3:13in a chronological order as to how they will develop now.
- 3:16Some of them are hard and fast.
- 3:17I mean, we know after the Great White Throne Judgment comes seven or hell and all those
- 3:21other things.
- 3:22But you know, Wednesday, Isaiah, 17 prophecy fulfilled, Wednesday's Ezekiel war.
- 3:27Yes.
- 3:28Where does the rapture fit into all this?
- 3:29So I just wanted to kind of approach it from that direction.
- 3:32I see you talk about obviously the millennium, the seven, the seventy of seven.
- 3:38That's fascinating.
- 3:39So you go back to Daniel, right, in other places, I'm sure.
- 3:44One thing I wanted to ask you, brother, this is just really neat.
- 3:48Amir Sarfati, love this man of God, what a watchman on the wall and just keeps everybody
- 3:54on the cutting edge of what's happening in Israel.
- 3:57He wrote the forward to your book.
- 3:59Tell us about how that came to be in your relationship with Amir.
- 4:03Well, just almost by surprise, some years ago, Amir and I went up speaking
- 4:08at the same prophecy conference and sits in Adi Ohio, how we admit, I think like thousands
- 4:13of other people in Israel, just kind of a handshake thing.
- 4:17But we wound up at a conference where he and I were the only two speakers.
- 4:21And we just kind of did the kiddin spirit thing and we've been traveling the world together
- 4:26ever since.
- 4:27So enjoy his company.
- 4:28We both find ourselves to be a little bit anti sensationalism and just think the Bible
- 4:35sensational enough on its own.
- 4:37We don't need to try and grandstand or anything.
- 4:40You want to explain that a little bit because I like that, that idea, anti-sensational because
- 4:45a lot, I mean, people take something and run with it and then it kind of gives the church
- 4:51a black eye sometimes.
- 4:53Talk to a little bit about that, a little bit more Barry.
- 4:55Well, I think that's important because we just went through something again with an
- 4:58eclipse and you know, if you look at some of these things in scripture and you know,
- 5:03we know from Joel, and you know, the whole blood moon saying that we went through some
- 5:08years ago, you know, the September deal where there was a rapture was going to happen on
- 5:12a specific date in September and you're right, it kind of makes the church look silly.
- 5:17But you know, if we just carefully examine what the text says, we can come away with what
- 5:22we ought to be focused upon, what is strictly related during the tribulation and what would
- 5:27have precursors to it that would eventually be fulfilled during the tribulation.
- 5:32And you know, if we look at the Joel passage in particular, what happens with this, when
- 5:37the moon is turned into blood is simultaneous with the sun becoming black and sack cloth.
- 5:43So until that happens, that's not the fulfillment, you know, of that particular event.
- 5:48So I just think we need to be careful about bringing exactly what you said, given the church
- 5:52or black eye.
- 5:53Yep.
- 5:54It's interesting you brought up the eclipse, but yeah, we saw a lot of that going on.
- 5:59And come on guys, get, be grounded in the word, right, and be discerning.
- 6:02By the way, I didn't give you a website, berrystagnert.com, the book is also available and doing
- 6:08extremely well five star ratings over at amazon.com, the time of the signs.
- 6:14So Barry, what specific current global events do you see as being relevant to Bible prophecies
- 6:20as mentioned in your book?
- 6:22Well, Israel, obviously, I mean, anything just the things we're seeing that are on
- 6:27the moon precedent at scale.
- 6:29I think just remind us that we're late in the days, so to speak.
- 6:33And you know, we're looking forward to that moment and twinkling up an eye experience.
- 6:37I believe that could happen at any moment in time.
- 6:40But watching things develop as we see Zachary, I 12, 3 in the precursors to it being fulfilled
- 6:47even now, I just one of the deals on my program this evening is an article about the
- 6:53indoctrination of three K children into hitting Israel.
- 7:00And there's an indoctrination system up in a Portland, Oregon, you know, to where they're
- 7:05basically being told, you know, that these colonization all that has happened to the Palestinians
- 7:10is these we stood up against.
- 7:13You need to hate the Jews fighting in Zionism and all that.
- 7:16So I think what Israel taking center stage and it's always been kind of a curiosity to
- 7:21me, David, that, you know, you've got here, you've got 8800 square miles on the surface
- 7:25of this whole earth, and you've got 70 square miles that makes up the city of Jerusalem.
- 7:30And then finally, 35 acres is going to take center stage on the world platform, and that
- 7:35is the temple mount.
- 7:36And boy, we heard a lot of talk about the temple mount on Jerusalem day just yesterday.
- 7:40Yeah.
- 7:41Yeah.
- 7:42Listen, it's interesting.
- 7:43First, you brought up what kids are learning now.
- 7:47It grooms them to beat, I mean, the LGBTQs do and they're grooming, but also the anti-Semites,
- 7:53the anti-Israel, that's going on in the schools because when they get to the universities,
- 7:58they're going to be even more embedded with this radical anti-Semite, you know, anti-ideology
- 8:03because Barry, I think a lot of people were shocked to see what was happening on college
- 8:08campuses after October 7 last year, and there are even Christians that are confused somehow.
- 8:14They're confused about Palestine, Hamas.
- 8:16Can you speak to that for a moment because that's probably one of those current events
- 8:19and signs that you talk about?
- 8:21Oh, absolutely.
- 8:22We live at an age of delusion and confusion, and you know, if you just take a quick glance
- 8:27through history, you can see clearly a physical presence of the Jews for some 3,500 years
- 8:33in that geographic region of the world, and especially in the city of Jerusalem.
- 8:37You've got archeological evidence of two previous temples, and yet, you know, the world
- 8:42buys into the displaced Palestinians and all these other things, and you know, we're
- 8:47hearing today in these mantras of, you know, from the river to the sea, from the Jordan
- 8:53to the Mediterranean, Palestine will be free, and that's just an anti-Semitic chant.
- 8:57That means you'll all the Jews.
- 8:59Yeah, I don't think people understand that.
- 9:01In fact, you've, I'm sure you've seen some of those videos where people were interviewed
- 9:06at these marches, and they have no idea what it means, but they're marching, they're
- 9:10shouting, and they have no idea what they're saying, and this is the level of, I guess that
- 9:16would be on the delusion side rather than confusion, but they've been indoctrinated.
- 9:20They bought the talking points.
- 9:21They're following the media, they're following the universities, and it's really sad, but
- 9:27it is prophetic, right, because you and a lot of other people read about this.
- 9:32Want to ask you about the book's focus on the imminent return of Christ.
- 9:36We don't hear immenency talked about, I don't think enough, and just personally, but what
- 9:41would you say to readers who are maybe a little skeptical of prophetic interpretations of current
- 9:47events, Barry?
- 9:48Well, you know, we have a lot of preterists and people of that particular interpretation
- 9:54that look back to 70 AD and Titus destruction of Jerusalem, and looking at that as a fulfillment
- 10:00of Matthew 24, 3 to 8, and the balance of that chapter, the Olivet discourse, or the
- 10:06two chapters to make it up, and then also, you know, revelation winds up being allegorized.
- 10:12But I think one of the most important things for us to recognize is that what was said
- 10:17there is literally taking place right before our eyes.
- 10:21You've got a coalition of nations that are named in the Ezekiel 38 and 39 war scenario
- 10:26that are operating together. Three of them have personnel and hardware on the northern
- 10:30border of Israel, that being Turkey, Russia, and Iran, or the Persians, and of course there's
- 10:36the relationship ideologically, at least with two of those nations, with Libyan Sudan.
- 10:42And so if this particular element is to be taken as fulfilled historically or even
- 10:48allegorically, then why is everything literally happening as the Bible has foretold?
- 10:54And you know, we live in just an amazing time, David, as I know you will know, just to
- 11:00see so many things that I think scholars throughout the ages were scratching their head.
- 11:05How is Israel going to be a nation again?
- 11:07How can these dry bones of, we don't have to ask that question.
- 11:11We know that it has come to pass, and David, if you're good, I don't want to ramble on
- 11:16take too much time, but I think one of the most important passages in recognizing the existence
- 11:23of the Jews to be that, which is scriptically identified, is in Ezekiel 36.
- 11:29I mean, we often start in chapter 37, but in 36, in 21 and 22, the Lord says, you know,
- 11:36every day that you, the Jews were outside of the national homeland I gave you, my name
- 11:42was being profaned. So he told Israel, I'm not doing this for your sake. I'm not bringing
- 11:48you back for your sake. I'm bringing you back for my name's sake, for my glory. So, you
- 11:54know, I think when you understand that, then everything else begins to make sense.
- 12:00Excellent point, Barry. Read the whole book of Ezekiel, not just 37 and beyond. By the
- 12:06way, we've got to take a brief pause with Barry Stagner, the website, BarryStagner.com.
- 12:11The book is called The Time of the Signs. Barry, you mentioned colonization, I'm thinking,
- 12:16there's, this goes beyond illusion to maybe blinders because just by looking at a map and looking
- 12:22at land space and who occupies all the land and all the nations around Israel, I mean, I don't
- 12:29know, the people just denied their own eyes, but we'll be right back on World View Matters with
- 12:33Barry Stagner. Today's show is brought to you by Harbinger's Daily. World news,

- 13:15Pastor out in Southern California. Love this brother. Love it. Must be a great church. I haven't
- 13:19been there in years. We'll get to visit sometime. It's Calvary Central OC, Orange County.
- 13:26Barry, you mentioned Israel as God's timepiece and you really just alluded to the rebirth in
- 13:321948. So as the era, as the start of this era, of signs, and a lot of people are into signs,
- 13:40some people little too much emphasis on that. I've always looking for a sign, right? And you know
- 13:44it asks Jesus for a sign. You know how he responded. But could you delve a little bit deeper into the
- 13:49significance of God's timepiece and the rebirth of Israel? Well, looking back in Daniel 9, we see
- 13:56that there's a set of epads that are determined for Daniel's people in the Holy City.
- 14:01And the Hebrew word there would be well understood as a seven year period because of the relationship
- 14:08with the sabbatical year and all. And so there are divisions in the 70 weeks. There's seven weeks
- 14:14and 62 weeks, seven years, seven seven year periods. And then there's a break. And then there's
- 14:21the final 70th week of Daniel that is yet to be fulfilled. So that, you know, in between
- 14:27week 69 and week 70, you've got the church age. And we are, I think, late in the game in the
- 14:33church age. And I think the 70th week of Daniel is on the horizon. Yeah, oh my goodness. I think,
- 14:39did you ever think, I think I don't know a lot of people who would say, yeah, I saw this coming,
- 14:46when you look at world events today, even maybe the state of America and we'll take it a step
- 14:51further, Barry, the state of the American church, maybe the biblical illiteracy, maybe the
- 14:57lukewarmness. Did you think, I mean, even when you were a young, maybe studying at seminary
- 15:02or preparing to be a pastor, did you think we would see some of the things we're seeing, the times
- 15:07we're living in now in the state of the church end of the, actually the world, really?
- 15:13Well, I don't think any of us really knew what it would look like specifically.
- 15:17But I think we all knew it was coming. But I think the greatest surprise is the speed in which
- 15:23it has happened. But that, you know, it's completely consistent with Revelation chapter 1 verse 1,
- 15:28where Jesus and telling John, he's going to show him things that will shortly take place. And
- 15:33shortly doesn't mean soon, it means in quick succession. And so we would expect even as we're
- 15:39moving toward the tribulation. And David, one of the most important things I think for us to take
- 15:44note of, as we talk about these kinds of things, things that are precursors to what will ultimately
- 15:49be fulfilled during the tribulation, is that the tribulation doesn't last long enough
- 15:54for these things to develop. They have to have already to degree be in play in order for the
- 16:00Antichrist to deceive the whole world and to cause those who dwell on the earth to take a mark.
- 16:06And those who refuse to take the mark, the earth dwellers are going to be complicit in their death.
- 16:11They're at least, you know, in agreement with it. And we've had this kind of thing
- 16:15introduced to us in the last three years with people who wouldn't take the vaccine. We're threatened
- 16:19with the refusal at a hospital if they were sick and things of that nature. So the mentality is
- 16:25already happening that is necessary for the tribulation to be fulfilled.
- 16:31Excellent point on, do you say Revelation 1-1, the word shortly? Is that how you explain that?
- 16:38In quick succession. Quick succession, I like that. I like that a lot because obviously my goodness,
- 16:44it's happening so fast, it's hard to keep up with. Which leads me to my next question,
- 16:49how do you approach the challenge of making complex biblical prophecies accessible
- 16:55to the average Christian or the general reader?
- 16:59Well, I think, you know, I heard years ago, I think every pastor has things that stick with them,
- 17:05you know, when they're first starting out. And I heard two things. One,
- 17:09J. Vernon McGee, Dr. Jay that we all love so much. He said, put the cookies on the bottom
- 17:13shelf where the kids can reach them. And then I heard another pastor put it a different way,
- 17:17which I thought was just wonderfully profound. He said, you're feeding the sheep, not the giraffes.
- 17:23So we need to just speak plainly and not try and, you know, overcomplicate things
- 17:30that the Bible interprets itself, just speak in everyday language that everybody can understand.
- 17:35And I have to say that's one of the treasured comments I've seen about the book,
- 17:40is its readability. You know, it's not, you know, just for the theological egg heads out there,
- 17:46the guy with the purple PhD, it's just for the man on the street to hopefully understand
- 17:52what's happening and what's coming.
- 17:54Yeah, friends, we're talking about the book, The Sign of the Times, just came up.
- 17:58Earlier this year, you said something very interesting and that is kind of, you're not,
- 18:05what should I say, you're reaching people at their level of understanding, but they're not,
- 18:09you're not dumbing down the message or the content. You're just being very straightforward.
- 18:14I think we complicate and we can confuse the Bible and we can make it to something it's not,
- 18:20which I think biblical illiteracy of today's church plays into that. What are your thoughts, Barry?
- 18:26Well, one of the things that I mentioned in the introduction to the book is my hope was not to
- 18:30present every angle. It was just to take one approach. Here's how I see it. People are going to
- 18:36disagree with it, but I think we're often shooting ourselves in the foot by, you know, just trying to,
- 18:41well, that's wrong and this wrong and then, wait a minute, which one did he say is wrong? Which is,
- 18:45and all that. So just lay it out and proverbial at the Chifts Fall when they may, as far as
- 18:51receptivity to that particular interpretation, but I think the editor of the book that works for
- 18:57Arvest House gave me just a wonderful encouragement where he said this book kind of takes a different
- 19:05approach than many others in that the scripture comes first and the interpretation comes second.
- 19:10It's not proof texting where you're making a point and then trying to prove it through scripture.
- 19:15You let the scripture speak and then basically, you know, interpret what was said. So, and to me,
- 19:23that's pretty encouraging. Yeah, it takes us to get in the way sometimes, you know, or to mess up
- 19:30the message, right? I know some things need to be elaborated on and explained and yeah,
- 19:36we don't want to muddy it because just, I mean, the gospel is the power of God to salvation and these
- 19:41are other issues that shouldn't divide. Maybe that's one thing I wanted to ask you. You see all
- 19:47these divisions over little, I mean, certain things you need to divide on if it's false teachings
- 19:52or doctrinal issues in apostasy, things like that. But I mean, the timing of the raptures is
- 19:58of obvious one right there. What are your thoughts on that, Barry? I mean, that we shouldn't
- 20:03say you separate from brothers because of these things. In some cases. Oh, absolutely. And, you
- 20:09know, I was on the radio with a guy who's actually an attorney that started a program basically,
- 20:15you know, a polygenic type program. And I had said to him, I have been condemned to hell more times
- 20:22by mid-tribbers than any non-believer or any other sect of Christianity. And he said, well,
- 20:29I have been condemned to hell by more pre-tribbers than anybody else. And, you know, that's the
- 20:34type of thing we have to stay away from. You know, we don't know the day or the hour. I think,
- 20:40you know, the information that the Bible does present to us personally, I think it's a biblical
- 20:45necessity that we be gone before the tribulation begins. And one of the main arguments, again,
- 20:51is just one of the simplest. And that is the church wasn't here for the first 69 weeks.
- 20:56So why would we be here for the 70th? And just doesn't make sense as well as we don't have an
- 21:01appointment with wrath, a whole tribulation as God's wrath. But again, these things, you know, if you
- 21:07believe that Christ died for your sins and the confession is made that he is the Lord and the
- 21:14only Savior and that God raised it from the dead in your brother, sister. Amen. He is the way
- 21:21the truth and the life no one comes to to the Father except through Jesus, the name of
- 21:26every name. He is the one who died. It gave his life as a ransom whosoever believes, right?
- 21:33Didn't I read that somewhere? I like that word whosoever. I'm one year one. Yeah, you know,
- 21:39I like that. I just want to savor this moment, Barry, because I mean, not that it's so profound that
- 21:44a lot of other people are not talking about it. But sometimes we get off into the weeds and there's
- 21:48so much happening globally and in America with the church and with other things that we kind of
- 21:54forget the power and the simplicity of the gospel and that we need to kind of take a step back
- 21:59and the broad world view, the big picture and say, are we preaching the clear gospel message and
- 22:06the truth to get people saved? And are they hearing the simplicity of the gospel? I think that's
- 22:13so important. So I just want to share that and I'm just obviously thinking one of the most
- 22:18well-known verses, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever whosoever
- 22:25believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. And yeah, just something to just dwell
- 22:32on for a moment. We are saved by grace through faith. And just your thoughts on just this moment
- 22:39that we're talking about, because I didn't plan on this coming up. But I think when you're talking
- 22:43about explaining things just clearly and simply not getting in the way and messing it up, I think
- 22:48that's so important because I think sometimes we work too hard and then it doesn't get the results
- 22:53we would really like. Well, yeah, there's too many other names added to the name of Jesus and
- 22:59you're following this guy, you're following that guy. And it's Jesus, period. And we're saved by His
- 23:05blood shed for the sins of the whole world. And you know, I think what the church needs to get back
- 23:10on stream with is what Paul said in 2 Timothy 4. You know, he said, and it's kind of interesting
- 23:16that there are two different words he said in in season and out of season. And in the Greek,
- 23:21those words translated as season are actually two different words. And one means, you know,
- 23:26with an abundance of opportunity. And the other means with no opportunity or at in opportune moments,
- 23:34his solution to both seasons is to preach the word. And then we just need to get back to the book
- 23:40and just rightly divided here, little there, little line upon line, precept upon precept,
- 23:45and as Spurgeon said, we don't need to defend the Bible. It's like a lion just let it out of the
- 23:50cage. Amen. It will. It's job. It never returns, boy. Unleash the word of God. Let it loose. Let it fly.
- 24:00Oh my goodness. I mean, yeah. Your previous book, Barry, before I let you go, we've got
- 24:06three and a half minutes left. Bible prophecy. The essentials answers to your most common questions.
- 24:12Phenomenally well. It did very, very well. It came out in just a year ago. What do you hope
- 24:20that people will get out of your new book? Time of the signs. Did I get that right? Yes.
- 24:26The time of the signs. So used to saying it the other way. That's why I love the title.
- 24:30Well, yeah. That's part of the book, so to speak. Exactly. You know, I think the point,
- 24:36you know, in answering just the basic questions, kind of like the essentials, you know,
- 24:41the essentials was basically accumulated from a bunch of Q and A's that Amir and I did during
- 24:46COVID, where there was not a lot of opportunity to travel and things of that nature. So we just
- 24:52started doing online Q and A and we compiled basically the 70 most commonly asked questions from
- 24:58from 30 saw 30 somewhat different Q and A's that we did. And this book goes a little bit deeper into
- 25:05some of the biggies. You know, when is the Ezekiel war? When does it start? Will the church be gone? Could
- 25:11we see the beginning of the Ezekiel war and other questions about, you know, the placement of
- 25:16the rapture? What exactly I know a lot of people say apostasia about the apple stasia, the
- 25:22defection from truth. What does that involve? Is that going to happen during the church age or will
- 25:28it ultimately be fulfilled during the tribulation? And, you know, so just kind of taking some of the
- 25:35hard stuff and just making it understandable in a sense to where the Bible just speaking for itself.
- 25:43Yes. Amen, brother. Another great book from Barry, you guys, um, check it out and we're not
- 25:49out just doing this program to sell books, but these are good books. A lot of great information.
- 25:54And I've heard Barry from around the, by the way, Barry, you can find him at berrystagnar.com. He's
- 25:59the pastor, senior pastor of Calvary Central, OC, Calvary Central, OC and Costa Mesa, California.
- 26:08But we want to get these books out there. Barry, why? One of the biggest reasons is I hear from
- 26:13people all the time from different parts of the country. They are not being equipped. What is
- 26:17the pastor's job to equip the saints? Yes, teach the word of God, but talk about these other
- 26:23issues too and, you know, equip the saints and, um, man, the whole council of God, just your final
- 26:29thoughts. We just got a minute left. You know, that's the most common statement that a mirror and I
- 26:34hear and it doesn't matter what country we're in around the world. Two things. One, I can't find a
- 26:39Bible teaching church and two, nobody's teaching Bible prophecy and yet Bible prophecy is the
- 26:44thing that makes the Bible distinct from just being a historical, poetic book or history book
- 26:51and, you know, recording the history of the nation of Israel and how things began. It's the
- 26:56very breadth of the Bible and I think if we shy away from it, we're kind of making the Bible
- 27:02on the same platform as other books. So 27% of this book is prophetic in nature and that's some
- 27:088200 verses. So why would you skip all of that because it's intimidating or for whatever reason?
- 27:16Yeah. And it's interesting how many other world religions or cults or ideologies out there
- 27:21have successful prophecies that have been fulfilled, right? Hundreds, right? I don't think there's one
- 27:28that I can think of. Anyway, Pastor Barry, thank you so much for your time. And again, guys,
- 27:33the time of the signs you can look up Barry on YouTube, the truth about God and check out his YouTube
- 27:38channel as well. We appreciate you, sir. Thanks for being a watchman. We'll talk to you hopefully
- 27:42in the near future. Hope so. Thanks, David. All right, guys. Thanks again for sharing the podcast and
- 27:48supporting. God bless you and as always, keep speaking the truth about things that matter.
