- 0:04Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your
- 0:08weekday roundup of overnight headlines and what's
- 0:11ahead across the city. I'm Carol. It's Monday,
- 0:16April 6, 2026. Let's get you caught up. A suspicious
- 0:20traffic stop in Sacramento quickly turned into
- 0:22a major weapons and drug bust. According to Sacramento
- 0:25County Sheriff's Office, deputies attempted to
- 0:28pull over a vehicle, but say the driver delayed
- 0:31stopping and then tried to run once inside an
- 0:33apartment complex. While being detained, the
- 0:36driver reportedly tossed his keys to a woman
- 0:39believed to be his girlfriend and told her to
- 0:41run. A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded
- 0:44handgun, multiple loaded magazines, a large quantity
- 0:48of marijuana products. But it didn't stop there.
- 0:51A follow -up search warrant at the suspect's
- 0:54residence led to the discovery of multiple rifles,
- 0:58including a short barrel rifle, along with seven
- 1:02additional handguns, two of them modified with
- 1:05fully automatic switches. Authorities say two
- 1:08of those firearms were also stolen. Investigators
- 1:12recovered additional marijuana products, psilocybin
- 1:15mushrooms, and more than $24 ,000 in cash. In
- 1:19City Watch, the Front Street Animal Shelter is
- 1:23at critical capacity and needs your help. Through
- 1:27Sunday, April 12th, all dog adoptions are fully
- 1:31officially waived. The shelter says they're taking
- 1:34in multiple strays and lost dogs daily, and this
- 1:38push is about creating space while giving these
- 1:41animals a second chance. Every adopted dog will
- 1:45go home spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
- 1:50Walk -in adoptions are open daily from noon to
