- 0:00As the first woman scanned the other from top to bottom, as you do, she noticed she was
- 0:08wearing a white dress.
- 0:11Probably a pretty odd choice of outfit for a nighttime stroll, but as she continued her
- 0:16gaze down, she realized something even more strange.
- 0:21The woman had no legs!
- 0:24I was just picturing no feet, I don't know why.
- 0:27No legs, no legs at all.
- 0:29Oh, she was just a floating torso.
- 0:31I was trying to do a spooky voice and it didn't come out.
- 0:45That is...
- 0:49Let me try again.
- 0:50Okay.
- 0:51I'll retry it.
- 0:52Take two.
- 0:53Okay.
- 0:54Hello!
- 0:55How is that?
- 0:59That's spooky?
- 1:01No.
- 1:02It was kind of cartoony.
- 1:04Okay, but we'll keep it anyway.
- 1:05All right.
- 1:06It was better than the first one.
- 1:09It's debatable.
- 1:10Oh, hello Cassie.
- 1:12Hi, creepy people.
- 1:15Or cartoon people.
- 1:17Cartoon creepy people, creepy papers.
- 1:21This is PNW Haunts and Homicides.
- 1:24Yes, oh my god.
- 1:25I almost forgot why we were here.
- 1:28We're here.
- 1:29We're here.
- 1:30And it's almost Halloween bitches.
- 1:33We're here.
- 1:34All right.
- 1:35All right.
- 1:36In the words of the iconic Ashnikko pumpkin spice this pussy baby.
- 1:41Oh happy Halloween.
- 1:43I don't need a costume because I'm already a freak.
- 1:47How long?
- 1:48Let's do it.
- 1:49Wowzers.
- 1:52I'm wearing her shirt today.
- 1:54I see that.
- 1:55Did you notice mine?
- 1:57Were you wearing that last time we reported?
- 2:00I might have been.
- 2:01I really like it.
- 2:02You called out.
- 2:03Yeah.
- 2:04I think I've only worn this t-shirt twice.
- 2:06I really like it.
- 2:07I saved it for Halloween.
- 2:10The spooky tarot card.
- 2:12Yeah.
- 2:13So if you're Patreon, you'll get to see her shirt later.
- 2:17Well, today I'm going to do something I've never done before.
- 2:21In honor of this special occasion.
- 2:24I don't like the look on your face right now.
- 2:26I'm really excited.
- 2:28And I'm going to try really hard not to get overly excited.
- 2:32Talk really fast, high pitched, mess everything up.
- 2:36Okay.
- 2:37So I'm going to try to tone it down even though I'm really excited on the inside of like jumping over
- 2:42now.
- 2:43Yeah, I don't appreciate your tone.
- 2:45I'm going to scare Caitlyn.
- 2:48But no, you're going to like this too.
- 2:50I don't like this surprise.
- 2:52So let's just say we're going on an adventure to a sister city.
- 2:59Oh, my goodness.
- 3:01I did it.
- 3:02You did it.
- 3:03Are you so proud?
- 3:04I am.
- 3:05I did it just for you.
- 3:06I do not see that coming at all.
- 3:07I didn't think so.
- 3:08Yeah.
- 3:09I was like, what's happening?
- 3:11I had a stroke of genius the other day.
- 3:13And I rolled with it.
- 3:15So.
- 3:16Okay.
- 3:17I'm just going to try to get a little bit more excited.
- 3:20We're going.
- 3:21Can you guess?
- 3:22Do you know all of the sister cities of Portland?
- 3:24Not off the top of my head.
- 3:26But I have you.
- 3:27Root.
- 3:28Guadalajara.
- 3:29No.
- 3:30Okay.
- 3:31We're going to Sapporo, Japan.
- 3:32Really?
- 3:33Yes.
- 3:34How excited are you?
- 3:35So did you know that this is the longest sister city partnership for Portland?
- 3:44I did not.
- 3:47Yeah.
- 3:48I didn't either until I read it on this website and I wrote it down.
- 3:51I told everyone else.
- 3:53It's kind of our thing.
- 3:54Yeah.
- 3:55It's pretty cool.
- 3:56So I was thinking I wanted to do some super spooky vibes for Halloween.
- 4:00And I was thinking about one of my favorite movies, The Ring, which is filmed right here in the PNW.
- 4:05Yeah.
- 4:06No, thank you.
- 4:07You don't like it?
- 4:08No.
- 4:09And here's what's wild is I've actually seen The Ring.
- 4:14Oh, it's when she's seen.
- 4:16Yeah, it gave me nightmares forever.
- 4:18I loved it.
- 4:19It also made me not want to sleep with a TV in my room, but yeah.
- 4:24You know, that's fine.
- 4:25I lived.
- 4:26That's how I fall asleep at night.
- 4:29Oops.
- 4:30You'll know why if I look real tired on the live tomorrow.
- 4:35Oops.
- 4:36Core memory unlock.
- 4:37Yeah.
- 4:38Well, did you know the original is a Japanese film called Ringoo?
- 4:42Yes.
- 4:43Yes.
- 4:44You know, one and a were I heard that maybe think it was on DP.
- 4:48Oh, yeah.
- 4:49Yeah.
- 4:50They've like mentioned.
- 4:51I know they talked about it.
- 4:52Yeah.
- 4:53So I was just like, hmm, things started cooking up there in the old Noggin and wrap.
- 5:01Yes.
- 5:02The old wrap.
- 5:03So I went and searched up a Japanese sister city.
- 5:06I actually found one which was super exciting.
- 5:09On my first try.
- 5:10I was just like, let's try Portland.
- 5:12They might have a Japanese sister city and they totally did.
- 5:15Sure do.
- 5:16And it just so happens to be haunted as fuck.
- 5:21Keeping with the PNW vibes.
- 5:24Mm-hmm.
- 5:25Her face is so funny.
- 5:30So before I scare the crap out of you, Caitlyn, I wanted to touch on some quick little historical
- 5:35things.
- 5:36I just couldn't help it.
- 5:37We all know how that goes.
- 5:39Okay.
- 5:40Although they do celebrate Halloween in Japan, they don't see it as kind of the thinning of the
- 5:46veil, quite like we do, you know, where souls can cross over and all that jazz.
- 5:51They have another holiday for this.
- 5:53It's in August actually.
- 5:56It's called Obon.
- 5:58Okay.
- 5:59Yeah.
- 6:00Yeah.
- 6:01Yeah.
- 6:02I've heard of Obon.
- 6:03I never have.
- 6:04I've heard of Obon culture and it is.
- 6:06I'm trying.
- 6:07This is where I'm learning.
- 6:08Yeah.
- 6:09Yeah.
- 6:10No, I mean, I don't know very much about it, but it sounds really interesting.
- 6:12Well, this is a time for them to honor ancestors with altars and offerings, visiting resting
- 6:18places, performing traditional dances and using lanterns to guide ancestral souls.
- 6:25Yeah.
- 6:26I think it's really sweet.
- 6:27It is super sweet.
- 6:28Not totally unlike kind of the tradition of day of the day.
- 6:33Yeah.
- 6:34That's what it reminded me of.
- 6:35Yeah.
- 6:36Yeah.
- 6:37So I thought it was cool.
- 6:38The lanterns too.
- 6:39They like used the floating ones and release them.
- 6:41Yeah.
- 6:42It sounds really pretty.
- 6:43So pretty.
- 6:44So I just thought that was cool.
- 6:45And I didn't want to visit Japan on Halloween without learning a bit, a little bit about their
- 6:50culture.
- 6:51So yeah.
- 6:52And I wanted to give you a little buffer to prepare for what's to come.
- 6:56Cool.
- 6:57Great.
- 6:58Alrighty.
- 6:59I'm going to take you on a little ghost tour of Sapporo, if you will.
- 7:04I won't.
- 7:05No, I'm taking you with me.
- 7:06I'm dragging you, kicking and screaming.
- 7:09We'll be talking about quite a few places.
- 7:12Okay.
- 7:13Okay.
- 7:14So this text I used is translated from Japanese.
- 7:18It's called Sapporo Ghost Map Guide.
- 7:21I'm hoping there's no misinterpretations here.
- 7:25I mean, I certainly didn't translate it.
- 7:27Cause we'd be in big trouble.
- 7:29So I'm sure they're professionals, but I wanted to give the little warning.
- 7:34Just in case I say something wrong, you're like, that's not what happens in Sapporo.
- 7:39Okay, Caitlyn, what do you think about when you picture a spooky haunted place?
- 7:45Ghosts like like a haunted house with like spooky trees and fog and stuff like that?
- 7:54Sure.
- 7:55I try not to picture it.
- 7:57I was just going to say that before you.
- 8:00Well, what, what about a subway maintenance garage?
- 8:05Yeah, that sounds like a good setting for haunted, spooky stuff.
- 8:11Really, do you think?
- 8:12Yeah.
- 8:13It didn't sound super spooky to me, but I'm going to paint you a word picture.
- 8:17Okay.
- 8:18So it's dark.
- 8:20It's damp.
- 8:21That's literally what I thought of.
- 8:23Was it gets a dark damp place?
- 8:26Echo, echo, echo, walking through row after row of deserted trains.
- 8:32Are we getting there?
- 8:34I mean, yeah.
- 8:35Also, I don't know why I think it's damn.
- 8:38Does it rain a lot in Japan?
- 8:41Um, different parts of Japan do kind of get a lot of rain.
- 8:45I mean, probably not as much as like Portland or Seattle, but yeah.
- 8:50Okay.
- 8:51I don't know for sure if this maintenance garage is in fact damp, but that's what I'm
- 8:55picturing in my head anyway back to the story.
- 8:59There's going to be a lot of Japanese names.
- 9:01I looked up the pronunciations, but you know how it goes.
- 9:04So sure do in this particular subway garage between Jieitai Mae and Makomanai stations.
- 9:13Excellent.
- 9:14I did pretty good.
- 9:15Okay.
- 9:16Very good.
- 9:17report feeling uneasy in the empty trains. Yeah. Yeah, I bad. Some have even reported hearing voices
- 9:27in one instance, a woman's voice was heard, but only four men were working that night,
- 9:33and no way for anyone else to be in there with them without them knowing. No. No, yeah. Yeah. No. Yeah,
- 9:43no. Yeah. Get Midwestern. Now, there had been occasions where people would
- 9:49sadly jump onto the tracks and die by suicide. Yeah. I guess the spookiness and the voices got
- 9:58so bad that the employees finally made a complaint to the city. And they actually had a Buddhist
- 10:05priest come in and cleanse the garage. Oh geez. Yeah. This did help a little, but disembodied voices
- 10:13can still be heard from time to time. Okay. So I said cleanse here because that's kind of what I
- 10:19inferred from the text. If it's not something that a Buddhist priest would do, please forgive my
- 10:26whiteness. There is only so many rabbit holes I can go down in one day. So yeah, for sure. I mean,
- 10:32you could, I'm, you could interpret it as being like a cleanse or maybe offering a blessing. Yeah,
- 10:40something. I don't know. I think those are not necessarily interchangeable, but sort of related.
- 10:46Okay. I just went like what, what I thought about in my mind, someone clearing out a space or
- 10:55making it more positive than it was. So yeah, something like that occurred. I think that makes sense.
- 11:00Good. So next we're visiting a park that I could not find a pronunciation for. So I'm just going to
- 11:08try my best and we're going to see how it goes. So this is Jidensha Park. I think that's a pretty good
- 11:18pronunciation. Okay. I guess that I'm certainly no expert, but I try. Yeah. If anyone does speak Japanese
- 11:25and wants to tell me how to pronounce this, feel free. Yeah. I won't be offended. Yeah. That's
- 11:30so tough to when you can't find a pronunciation guide. Yeah. There was like nothing on this. Yeah.
- 11:35You're like, I don't want to butcher it. But you know, it's just you're best. As she
- 11:42it's such a pretty language too. So it is. Yeah. You're just stalling with all of the language talk here
- 11:50because you don't want to get to what's in this park. No, I was really curious because I was wondering if
- 11:56it was a park I like heard of. Oh, there's so many places in Japan that I want to go. No.
- 12:02This probably isn't one of them though. I don't think it's like a very big well-known park. Okay.
- 12:07During the day, this park is bustling with all of the park type people, you know, joggers,
- 12:13stroller pushers, dog walkers, picnickers, frisbee throwers, you know, the type,
- 12:17joggers. Ew. What are they doing? I'm more in line with the picnickers. Yeah.
- 12:25Some wine and cheese. I'm just fresh off research about a jogger. So
- 12:31right. Yeah. There's also plenty of housing around this park. So it's not secluded by any means.
- 12:38That's unusual. Yeah. I mean, just for a place that's haunted. I think it's just like a neighborhood park.
- 12:44Okay. But at night, things shift from a lively atmosphere to a deadly one.
- 12:56It'll like it. Legend has it that one night a woman was walking through the park at midnight.
- 13:02Now, I know what you're thinking. No, it's not Cinderella. This woman had both of her shoes
- 13:08and clearly no fairy godmother there to protect her. Okay. Well, that was not at all where my head went.
- 13:16Okay. So she comes across another woman walking in the park as the first woman scanned the other
- 13:24from top to bottom as you do. She noticed she was wearing a white dress. Probably a pretty odd
- 13:32choice of outfit for a nighttime stroll. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know about that. Unless it was summer,
- 13:39maybe? I don't know. Well, in white for a park? I don't know. Okay. Sorry. It seems odd.
- 13:45But as she continued her gaze down, she realized something even more strange.
- 13:53The woman had no legs. I was just picturing no fee. I don't know why. No legs. No legs at all.
- 14:01She was just a floating torso. Okay. With arms and a head in a white dress.
- 14:07That's a real choice. That's the real fashion statement.
- 14:13It's something. So super creepy. I don't like it.
- 14:22So moving along in the ghost tour in the Higashi-Ku ward of Sapporo, there is a road that is said
- 14:29to be a pathway between the mortal world and the spirit world. Okay. So just like tell my uber
- 14:37driver like avoid that one. Yeah. Avoid that road. Don't go down that road. Okay. So you'd probably think
- 14:44this is a deserted country road. Yeah. Included, isolated, also picturing damp.
- 14:52But no, it's right in the midst of a residential neighborhood.
- 14:59Oh. Okay. And I definitely don't understand street names or addresses in Japan. They do give
- 15:09the location, but I don't know enough to relay this information to you without another crazy rabbit hole.
- 15:15If you're curious, the link is in the paste bin in the show description.
- 15:21All right. And I will say this because I told you Chris has been to Japan. I don't know that he's been,
- 15:28he I think pretty much just went to Tokyo, but he said it was a very confusing city to get around.
- 15:36I could see that. Yeah. And he had a really funny story about how they lost his brother on the subway.
- 15:43Yeah. Because those doors are not like when you get on the max here where like, oh, it feels like
- 15:52somebody trying to like put their hand in between the door. Doesn't have a sense. Well, and it could
- 15:57be totally different now. It probably is for safety, but back then, because this was, I mean,
- 16:05dating Chris here a little bit. This was like 20 years ago. Oh, the doors are like, they just are like,
- 16:14we're closing. Like they they run on schedule. So the doors be closed and bitch. Get out. Yes, move,
- 16:21bitch. Get out the way. So yeah, the younger brother was the only one that got on the subway. And
- 16:29everybody else just watched and horror as like their dad tried to like get on it. And then as it like
- 16:34just rolled on by. Oh my god. Hopefully you didn't end up end up in the maintenance garage.
- 16:39I don't think so, but they had to race to another subway station. And it was really confusing trying
- 16:47to figure out like, okay, where does that train go and all this stuff? So I mean, I've met his brother.
- 16:54Like he made it out, but it's okay. Okay. A word to the wise don't take navigating through
- 17:02Japan lightly. Oh, no. Okay. One night. Can you guess what time? Midnight. It's midnight. Okay.
- 17:12I was always midnight. I already had my second guest prepared and it was 3 a.m. It's always midnight in Japan.
- 17:18Okay. A man was walking. Oh my god. A man was walking. No. Yeah. A man was walking down this road. Like he
- 17:29had a thousand times before with no incident. I really don't know if it was exactly a thousand times,
- 17:36but they said he knew the road roughly. Yeah, roughly. Give her take. I took some artistic liberties
- 17:43here. Yeah. That's fair. This time though, he started to feel like it was hard to walk. Like something
- 17:49was holding him back. No, perhaps tugging on the back of him. No, thank you. Then from behind,
- 17:58he heard what sounded like a little girl say, "Will you play with me?" Hard pass.
- 18:06When he turned around, he indeed saw that there was a little girl there and thought it was very
- 18:14strange for her to be out so late. And as he was probably about to ask where her parents were,
- 18:19she disappeared. Oh, okay. So then he didn't ask. He didn't get a chance to ask.
- 18:27He was just like, there's a little girl and now there's not. Okay. Poof. I mean,
- 18:33I'd prefer that she was not there and being creepy. So maybe that's okay. I mean, I'd prefer
- 18:40that she was visible because she... Will you play with me? And then she's gone. Is she playing hide and
- 18:47seek? Where did she go? Where did she hide? Is she going to pop out of the shower later? No.
- 18:55Why would she do that? Just because everything comes and sneaks up on you when you're in the shower?
- 19:00Yeah, I don't think so. No. People in their homes along this road are apparently not immune to
- 19:09the spiritual and against either. A resident's door might slowly creak open to let disembodied
- 19:18boots in to stomp around. I'd prefer that that they didn't. Why is it always just boots?
- 19:29You know, like we've heard that a couple of times. I feel like before or high heels. Yeah. But it's
- 19:34always like there's no one you can't see anyone walking in them, you know? Right. Those are your
- 19:39choices though. You either wear those stilettos or you're wearing like steel-toed boots. Yeah.
- 19:45These are your options. Or even something more sinister and reminiscent of our sex demon episode.
- 19:53Okay. I'm listening. Residents have experienced waking up in the middle of the night,
- 20:01Probsman night, to the feeling of something on top of them. No, no, I'm out. I'm out. Goodbye. I told you
- 20:11it was reminiscent of the sex demon episode. I mean, you did say that, but opening their eyes to
- 20:18see a ragged menacing samurai warrior. That's it's intense. That's very intense. And I have to say
- 20:29it's very unsavory like behavior. Exactly. I think that's why it's so scary.
- 20:34The next one sounds like a lovely place called Falls of Peace in the Teine ward.
- 20:42Do I say that? Okay. Yeah. Okay. We just looked it up. Yeah.
- 20:45It comes with a mountainous backdrop and all of the foliage, a picturesque waterfall could ask for.
- 20:53That reminds me of like silver falls. Yeah. Yeah. It me too. It sounds really, really gorgeous.
- 21:00But now I'm going to bring you right back down to Earth and shatter your soul with a trigger warning
- 21:08for suicide. I know I briefly touched on it a bit in the beginning, but we're unfortunately
- 21:16going to be talking about it a bit longer with this one. So, who is this place sort of reminds me
- 21:26of Aokigahara, aka the suicide forest. I watched a document, well actually more than one
- 21:35documentary about it. I was hard to watch. It's really tough. There's a really scary movie about it too.
- 21:42Yeah, I haven't watched that. It's terrifying. Don't watch it. Yeah. I won't. It's really scary.
- 21:46You guys like good advice. I watched it alone. I'm pretty sure. Because I'm a lunatic. Yeah,
- 21:53we're just kind of very different. Very. Okay. Apparently many, many people of all kinds come here
- 22:03to tragically and their lives by jumping from the falls. There was also one instance where someone
- 22:11doused themselves with gasoline and lit themselves on fire. Oh no. The self-emilation
- 22:19deaths in some Asian cultures are just really, really rough. It is. It's a lot.
- 22:29That's actually what the word they used to describe it in the article. Yeah. Yeah. Because I don't know.
- 22:37Sometimes using that technical or scientific jargon, it feels a little better. You kind of
- 22:45distance from what that, when you boil it down, what that is. I guess I kind of wanted to use it,
- 22:52but I was like, they used it. I kind of like trying to write it my own way. So,
- 22:57yeah, and not everybody knows what that is either. I think it's good to kind of explain it.
- 23:02I'm not going to lie. I kind of like figured what it meant, but I also had to Google it just in case.
- 23:07Well, it's not a commonly used word. I mean, if it was, that would be terrifying. Yeah.
- 23:14It's not good. No one knows why people choose this place, whether it's the beautiful,
- 23:20calming environment, or perhaps the land holds some residual energy from the past, affecting people
- 23:28who are already vulnerable. Yeah. There is a monument at the falls for enslaved Koreans who
- 23:35were forced to work in the mines. Yeah. I mean, kind of similar to the forest where people don't really
- 23:44have one solid explanation, but could be anything could be anything. As you can imagine,
- 23:52there was a lot of anger and despair associated with that time running water. I feel like it's also
- 23:59a huge energy source, and it could be continuously stirring up these past memories. And on top of
- 24:06all of that, you have these new people leaving their own anger and despair when they pass. That's
- 24:13true. It's kind of like a cycle, I feel like. Yeah. Almost like a snowball as it's rolling downhill.
- 24:20So as much as I do want to visit and see how pretty it is, it's kind of spooky. Yeah, that's really
- 24:30intense. Sorry to bring everyone down on Halloween. This text also suggests that if you visit any of
- 24:37these places, just sprinkle yourself with salt before going into your home. I'd say probably
- 24:44before going into your car too, or maybe just doubt yourself with salt the whole time. Yeah, just
- 24:50just in case. Wowzers. Yeah. I think probably you just can't really overdo it. Yeah.
- 24:57They're afraid something might attach to you. So no, thank you. You can also use any of the other
- 25:03various protective measures we've talked about. Like certain crystals. I can't think of the ones
- 25:11off the top of my head. I think that like, termaline, right? Probably be good example.
- 25:18Tourmaline, like, tourmaline, any of the protective things. Honestly, if you just have something that you
- 25:25feel like is protective. And if you're curious, you can google it or we do talk about a couple of them
- 25:32in the cleansing episode too, I think. So yeah, we do. You can use smoke too. Yeah. I mean, if something
- 25:39does follow you home, definitely refer to the cleansing episode. Yeah, absolutely.
- 25:44Okay, Caitlyn. I have one last special story just for you. Yay. You didn't think you'd get away without
- 25:53talking about dolls today. Did you? What the? Surprise is just keep coming for Caitlyn on this.
- 26:01Very special Halloween season. All right. Sorry. I'm going to be a little horse through the rest of
- 26:11this episode as I insert my knees into my chest. Sapporo, Japan has its very own haunted doll.
- 26:20In 1918, a boy named Eikichi Suzuki, like the car. Yeah. So I could pronounce that one without looking
- 26:30it up. Yeah. I know. We got an easy one. Yeah. Gave his little sissy, Okiku, a doll is a gift.
- 26:38Isn't that the cutest little name for the girl? I love it. Very sadly, though, Okiku passed away
- 26:47at three years old from an illness. Oh, I know. Her family placed her favorite doll on an altar
- 26:55in their home. They begin to notice something strange about the doll, though. Her hair was growing.
- 27:02No, no, they even had the hair tested and it was human. No, which I know is definitely a thing they used
- 27:12to do in doll making, but because they actually noticed that the hair was getting longer, the family
- 27:19believed the doll housed the soul of their precious Okiku. Today, the doll lives in a temple shrine.
- 27:28The monks taking care of her there confirmed the unusual hair growth.
- 27:34Very uncomfortable. She's so uncomfortable.
- 27:45She didn't do anything mean. Her hair was just growing. Okay. She just sat in there, being a doll.
- 27:53Okay, but I'm a living person and I can barely get my hair to grow out. So now I'm just,
- 28:02and now I'm angry. No, I'm just see this is what happens. You become sad and angry and confused.
- 28:09I don't like it. Maybe you should go talk to her and ask her her secrets.
- 28:14Now, I, you know, maybe I'll shoot her an email. Okay. No, yeah. Yeah. I'm sure she takes email in the temple.
- 28:21Well, on that note, that is all I have for now, for Sapporo, Japan, Portland's Sister City.
- 28:33That was so fun. I know. I really like learning more about Japan. I really want to go. Yeah.
- 28:41Really, really, really want to go. We're going to take a pod trip to the sister city. Right?
- 28:46Seriously, I wanted to go as an exchange student. So now we do right off. Yeah. So there you go.
- 28:53Perfect. Well, shall we do some tarot to row? Let's do it. Okay.
- 29:00Welcome to this episode of "Shuffle" with Cassie and Caitlyn.
- 29:08Look at that. It's sort of shuffle.
- 29:14So we are thinking of haunted ass Sepuro, Japan.
- 29:23Haunted AF. Dolls and legless lady ghosts and I'm not. Do you want to play with me?
- 29:37No. Okay. Spooky subway maintenance garages and sandwiches.
- 29:49There were sandwiches. Subway. Oh, I was like, did we talk about sandwiches and I missed it? No.
- 29:57We are going to cut the deck. I feel like you need to just touch it for a second. Give it your
- 30:04scared vibes. Touch it. Touch it. She's so scared. Oh, look at it. Cut. You guys can see it. It cut and
- 30:13this feels right. Okay. It's this one. What? It's the fool. I went silent because I'm,
- 30:25I'm no longer surprised when this pops out at me. It happens all the time.
- 30:33And yeah, so we're using my nightmare before Christmas deck and this is the fool with Jack
- 30:40walking with his doggy zero. Yes. So cute. It's so cute. I mean, do we even need to read the
- 30:50Oh, it's an uproar. Yeah. Do I say this? I think I already said it. I don't know. I know.
- 30:58But your little spooky ghost crystal right there. That's yours. I know, but I got it. And then
- 31:05with me in a minute, definitely was like, Oh, did it mean for me to get this? It's cute because
- 31:11I'm in love with it. It's fine. You just need a daily reminder of me. I guess it was a birthday gift
- 31:19that I bought for myself. But you're welcome. Anyway, the fool for Suburo Japan.
- 31:28All right. So our keywords are innocence beginnings, trust, hope, opportunity.
- 31:35And also Caitlin clearing her throat. That kind of sounds like a sister city, though.
- 31:44Yeah. It kind of does. Yeah. Well, in innocence, I write away latch onto the little girl.
- 31:53The first card in the major arcana, the fool begins your journey toward wisdom.
- 31:58The fool represents innocent and faith. The naive confidence of youth shown as a young traveler.
- 32:08Well, I won't read the rest of the description because honestly, it's not that far off. But
- 32:15but young travel travel too is interesting because we talked about the subway.
- 32:20Right. Well, unjust the fact that like for us, we're traveling to a two-digit fandom. Yeah.
- 32:27Oh, cool. This is so funny. Okay. So this is one way that the fool is totally different for us in
- 32:36this context. I don't know how you pronounce this name, but I'm going to take a shot. Okay. So there's a
- 32:43tiny mini extra excerpt and it says a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, which
- 32:52reminds me of the city on or the the part of the story where we talked about that road. And I said
- 32:58a thousand times he had been on that road. Well, in holding him back. Yeah. So that's a quote, a
- 33:06tribute to Lao Zoo. Interesting. Oh, interesting. Okay.
- 33:12Upright, when the fool appears in a reading, it usually means you're about to embark,
- 33:20to embark on a new way of life. You're open to new experiences and to discovering what lies around
- 33:27the bend. Yeah. Even if you're not sure about the path you've chosen, you have faith that everything
- 33:36will turn out well. You probably feel out of sync with the rest of the world, but in a good way.
- 33:42You hear the beat of a different drummer and you're ready to march to it. Yeah. Okay. In a reading
- 33:52about money, the fool urges caution. You may be too trusting or you may be naive when it comes to
- 33:59handling financial matters. And this card can also represent the first stage of a business or investment,
- 34:09examine details carefully, pay attention to your intuition, not only logic.
- 34:15So when we're planning our Japan trip from pod, you just got to like be careful and plan it out,
- 34:21which we usually do. Yeah. I think the receipts. Yeah. Yeah. Be smart about it. Yeah. I think so.
- 34:29If the reading is about your work, the fool can indicate starting a new job, project, or business venture,
- 34:35beginning a course of study or going on a business trip. Okay.
- 34:40It's a sign if I've ever seen one. I that's all I can take away from this.
- 34:48Caitlin, I can't wait to go to Japan with you. I know.
- 34:55You're looking forward to this new adventure or new direction and its possibilities. Well, hello.
- 35:01Embrace the opportunity with an open mind. You have a lot to learn. Yes, we do. A lot of Japanese
- 35:10things I want to learn. All of them. Throw me right down that rabbit hole.
- 35:15In a reading about love, this card often means beginning a romance or moving into a new stage
- 35:24in an existing relationship. A new relationship may feel faded as if you've met your soulmate.
- 35:31Enjoy this period of joy, openness and excitement. Oh, there's another extra. I love the extra.
- 35:40The quest for meaning always takes us into the unknown. That's from I think this is actually a
- 35:49tarot like companion book. It's called the pilgrims companion. Oh, cool. I like that.
- 35:57The quest for meaning always takes us into the unknown. I like it. Yeah. I think that's fitting.
- 36:09That's kind of interesting too. It reminds me of the falls and the suicide forest, like the quest for
- 36:17meaning. Yeah. Leave you on to the unknown. Is that what it is? Yeah, the quest for meaning always
- 36:24takes us into the unknown. We don't know. We don't know what the fuck is happening. I couldn't agree more.
- 36:32Oh, my goodness. I really like that. I like when my fool pops out. He makes me smile.
- 36:40And I have one thing to say about this case and about this reading and if you can't see it
- 36:48here in the video fully, I'll go ahead and just... It's a little sign that says "Eq" will probably post
- 36:55a photo for people who have to aren't on Patreon. But did you notice that has a little spider too?
- 37:00I was actually pretty surprised and proud of you that you bought something with a spider on it.
- 37:06Also the tablecloth has webs and... Yeah, and that is actually something that came in our little
- 37:15goody basket from Dave and Paul. Is it? Oh, thank you, Dave and Paul. Love you. We love the
- 37:24little snacks. Oh, my goodness. We really did. We've got the TikTok to prove it. Also, I got us
- 37:31matching hers and hers little headstones. So cute. Mine, you know, true to my nature says "keep out."
- 37:41Mine says "gone at last." Which is, you know, probably pretty on too. Yeah. And then
- 37:51we got a crystal grid there. We're just like pointing
- 37:57not audibly at all, but... Yeah, that's not a new bed, oily. That is a crystal grid.
- 38:04Yeah, cloth. Crystal grid? Great cloth. That sounds good to me.
- 38:10Yeah, and we're actually going to be sharing some... Well, we'll just see. I'm going to get creative.
- 38:19I went to a very cool crystal shop that's here kind of in the extended local area.
- 38:27And I... Yeah, it was a really, really cool place. She has more than crystals, but
- 38:34that's obviously the highlight for me. So... Yes. Shiny racks. Yeah.
- 38:39So... Why do time? I think that's all of the things. Yeah. As usual, if you notice something about
- 38:48the card or description that related to something we didn't notice, because our brains are just...
- 38:56much. You know how they are. Yeah. But let us know. Comment. DM. Maybe... Email. Maybe... DM you back.
- 39:04All right, well, I'm going to suggest that we ring the bell.
- 39:12Oh, man. Where's my... Ring for wine? Oh, there it is.
- 39:17Because we are also going to do a second recording today. And I'm going to get my revenge
- 39:25on Cassie. So... Yay! I'm going to finish off. Have a creepy ass Halloween! See you next Tuesday!
- 39:35I can't believe I shouldn't be with me. Say see you next Tuesday. See you next Tuesday.
