- Lucas: Luna, welcome back to Learn Telugu with Fexingo! Episode 15 — can you believe it? Luna: Oh wow, fifteen episodes already! I feel like I can actually say a few things in Telugu now. Lucas: Absolutely. And today we're going to add some weather words. Super useful for small talk. Luna: Weather — that's perfect. I always run out of things to say after 'hello' and 'how are you'. Lucas: Right. So let's start with the first word: wind. In Telugu, wind is gāli. Luna: Gāli. Lucas: Good! Gāli. The 'g' is soft, like in 'go'. Gāli. Luna: Gāli. That's kind of a pretty word. Lucas: It is. So if you're outside and you feel the wind, you can say 'gāli vīstōndi' — the wind is blowing. But let's just focus on the word itself for now. Gāli. Luna: Gāli. I can remember that. Wind. Gāli. Lucas: Perfect. Now the second weather word: rain. In Telugu, rain is varṣaṇam. Luna: Varṣaṇam. That's a bit longer. Lucas: It is. Varṣaṇam. The 'ṣ' is a retroflex sound — curl your tongue back a little. Varṣaṇam. Luna: Varṣaṇam. Varṣaṇam. Yeah, I think I got it. Lucas: You did. And if you hear someone say 'varṣaṇam padutōndi', that means 'it's raining'. But for now, just varṣaṇam. Rain. Luna: Varṣaṇam. Okay, so gāli is wind, varṣaṇam is rain. What's the third one? Lucas: Sun. In Telugu, sun is enda. Luna: Enda. Oh, that's short and sweet. Lucas: Yeah. Enda. Like 'en' plus 'da'. Enda. Luna: Enda. Sun. So if it's sunny, I can say 'enda undi'? Lucas: Exactly! 'Enda undi' — there is sun. You're already making sentences. So let's review all three. Repeat after me: gāli. Luna: Gāli. Lucas: Varṣaṇam. Luna: Varṣaṇam. Lucas: Enda. Luna: Enda. Lucas: Awesome. Now let me ask you a question. What do you say if you're at the beach and the wind is strong? Luna: Umm... gāli? Lucas: Yes! Just 'gāli'. You'd be understood. Or you can say 'gāli undi' — there is wind. But the word itself is gāli. Luna: Gāli undi. I like that. Lucas: And if you wake up and hear thunder, what's happening? Luna: Varṣaṇam! Rain. Lucas: Exactly. Varṣaṇam. And if you're planning a picnic, what do you hope for? Luna: Enda! Sun. Lucas: There you go. So let's put them in a tiny scene. Imagine we're in a park. I say: 'Today there is gāli and enda.' What do I mean? Luna: Wind and sun. So a breezy sunny day. Lucas: Right. And then I say: 'But no varṣaṇam.' No rain. Perfect day. Luna: That's a good day. So gāli, enda, no varṣaṇam. Lucas: You got it. Let's do one more round. Repeat: gāli. Luna: Gāli. Lucas: Varṣaṇam. Luna: Varṣaṇam. Lucas: Enda. Luna: Enda. Lucas: You've got them down. Now, I want you to remember: you already know greetings like 'Shubhodayam' and 'Halo', and how to say 'How are you?' — 'Elā unnāru?' So now you can add weather. For example, 'Shubhodayam! Enda undi.' Good morning! It's sunny. Luna: Oh, I like that. 'Shubhodayam! Enda undi.' That's a whole greeting with weather. Lucas: Yep. And if it's rainy, you can say 'Varṣaṇam padutōndi' — but we'll save that for another day. For now, just knowing varṣaṇam means rain is enough. Luna: I feel like I could actually use these next time I step outside. Lucas: Absolutely. That's the goal. So let's wrap up with a quick challenge. I'll say the English word, you say the Telugu. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: Wind. Luna: Gāli. Lucas: Rain. Luna: Varṣaṇam. Lucas: Sun. Luna: Enda. Lucas: Nailed it. You did it. Luna: That felt good. I'm going to practice these while I look out the window. Lucas: Do that. And remember, we're here with Fexingo to help you learn Telugu naturally. Practice these words — gāli, varṣaṇam, enda — and we'll see you next time. Luna: See you then! And keep practicing, everyone.
