- 0:00Speaker 1: Saints Commanders Sunday from the Dome Noon. Commanders are up
- 0:03Speaker 1: to seven and a half point favorites. That game opened
- 0:06Speaker 1: a round a field goal three to three and a half.
- 0:08Speaker 1: When the news of Derek Carr's injury and likely being out,
- 0:11Speaker 1: that line shot up and it hasn't done anything but
- 0:13Speaker 1: continue to climb. Washington just has a ton to play for.
- 0:18Speaker 1: The Commanders right now have an eighty five percent chance
- 0:22Speaker 1: to make the postseason per ESPN analytics. If the Commanders
- 0:26Speaker 1: beat the Saints, that jumps up to ninety two percent.
- 0:30Speaker 1: They're eight and five. They'd go to nine and five
- 0:32Speaker 1: with a win against New Orleans. With a loss, their
- 0:35Speaker 1: playoff odds the Commanders would fall to sixty eight percent.
- 0:38Speaker 1: So the Saints, as we know, have a less than
- 0:40Speaker 1: one percent chance of making the playoffs. For New Orleans.
- 0:43Speaker 1: This isn't about making the playoffs for New Orleans. This
- 0:46Speaker 1: is about two things for Darren Rizzy. He's trying to
- 0:50Speaker 1: win this job. Darren Rizzy's been the head coach for
- 0:53Speaker 1: four games. He's three and one. They played an atrocious
- 0:57Speaker 1: football game last week up in New York, like two
- 1:01Speaker 1: bad teams, and somebody had to win it. The Saints
- 1:03Speaker 1: won it, and the one game they lost was certainly
- 1:05Speaker 1: one that got away against the Rams. Otherwise you would
- 1:09Speaker 1: be squarely in the division mix in the NFC South,
- 1:12Speaker 1: which you are not right now. So that's one Darren Rizzy.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Number two is Jake Hayner. It's very likely going to
- 1:19Speaker 1: be Jake Hayner's first career start, and so Hayner wants
- 1:22Speaker 1: to play well and prove that he should be. A
- 1:25Speaker 1: guy that the Saints are considering potentially is the heir
- 1:28Speaker 1: to Derek Carr and maybe a long term app option
- 1:31Speaker 1: at least have the option to play again if Derek
- 1:33Speaker 1: Carr is out. That's it. That's really that's the extent
- 1:37Speaker 1: of what you're playing for here for New Orleans. But
- 1:39Speaker 1: the reality is the Saints are a bad football team.
- 1:42Speaker 1: There's no way around this. Every time we talk about
- 1:44Speaker 1: the Saints and every game they play, you have to
- 1:46Speaker 1: mention it. Like the Saints this year when they played
- 1:50Speaker 1: teams with a winning record, they are oh and six
- 1:54Speaker 1: outright and o and six against the spread. The Saints
- 1:57Speaker 1: have not covered at one or covered a single game
- 2:01Speaker 1: this year against the team with a winning record, so well, yes,
- 2:05Speaker 1: it's been nice to see the Saints get some wins
- 2:09Speaker 1: here with Darren Rizzy is the introm to break the
- 2:12Speaker 1: seven game losing streak that was just dreadful and miserable
- 2:14Speaker 1: to go through. It's nice to know that Dennis Allen
- 2:17Speaker 1: is no longer the coach, the albatross around the collective
- 2:20Speaker 1: neck of this franchise. You're still a very bad football team.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Your wins were against the Panthers, the Cowboys, the Falcons, Browns,
- 2:28Speaker 1: and Giants. Ain't nobody good. Washington is good, and they
- 2:36Speaker 1: have a lot to play for a few things. When
- 2:39Speaker 1: I look at the game, we've seen the Saints now
- 2:41Speaker 1: without Derek Carr three times. I mean, I guess you
- 2:44Speaker 1: could throw in at the end of the Kansas City
- 2:49Speaker 1: game or the end of the game against the Giants
- 2:51Speaker 1: when he was injured. But really for full games, it
- 2:54Speaker 1: was Tampa, it was Denver, and it was the Chargers.
- 3:00Speaker 1: He scored twenty seven against Tampa, ten against Denver and
- 3:03Speaker 1: eight against the Chargers. And the twenty seven against Tampa
- 3:06Speaker 1: is like a big asterisk because you got down three
- 3:11Speaker 1: scores in that game and then your rallied to take
- 3:14Speaker 1: a lead right before half, and then you didn't score
- 3:16Speaker 1: again all twenty seven of your points were in the
- 3:18Speaker 1: second quarter in a flurry, but three of the four
- 3:22Speaker 1: quarters you were shut out. And then the next game
- 3:24Speaker 1: you scored ten. In the next game he scored eight.
- 3:26Speaker 1: They can't score, and the Saints aren't going to score
- 3:29Speaker 1: this weekend. I understand Washington's scoring defense is middle of
- 3:32Speaker 1: the pack in the NFL. There's seventeenth. And Washington's rush
- 3:35Speaker 1: defense isn't very good. And Deron Payne is if you
- 3:39Speaker 1: missed it, Deron Payin on Friday, who had been practicing
- 3:41Speaker 1: all week, apparently suffered a back injury. He went from
- 3:44Speaker 1: not listed at all in the injury report to not
- 3:48Speaker 1: practicing at all on Friday with that back injury. So
- 3:50Speaker 1: his status is questionable right now for the game. But
- 3:54Speaker 1: you just got finished playing the New York Giants, who
- 3:57Speaker 1: are one of the worst teams in the NFL, maybe
- 3:59Speaker 1: the worst team in the NFL one week where they
- 4:01Speaker 1: didn't have Dexter Lawrence, who's the most dominant interior player
- 4:05Speaker 1: statistically anyway right now this year in the NFL, they
- 4:08Speaker 1: don't have Dexter Lawrence. And you go out there and
- 4:10Speaker 1: you run for ninety two yards on thirty three carries,
- 4:13Speaker 1: two point eight to carry. Why am I to believe
- 4:15Speaker 1: that's going to be any better against the Washington team
- 4:18Speaker 1: that's playing motivated with their playoff hopes. I shouldn't say
- 4:22Speaker 1: in the balance, but still very much to play for.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Then the other side of this is New Orleans against
- 4:26Speaker 1: a rushing quarterback. The Saints have been atrocious historically against
- 4:32Speaker 1: running quarterbacks, and sometimes year to year that doesn't always
- 4:35Speaker 1: play forward, but that has been the case again this year,
- 4:38Speaker 1: and now you're facing Jayden Daniels, who is right there
- 4:41Speaker 1: with Lamar Jackson among the best rushing quarterbacks in the NFL.
- 4:45Speaker 1: So when that has been an achilles heel for New
- 4:48Speaker 1: Orleans over the last decade, I don't know why it
- 4:53Speaker 1: would be any better this week. I mean, Jayden Daniels
- 4:56Speaker 1: is averaging over five yards of carry, He's rush for
- 4:59Speaker 1: five hundred ninety yards. He's only fifty yards behind Brian
- 5:02Speaker 1: Robinson on the season in rushing. He's got six rushing touchdowns.
- 5:07Speaker 1: This is just this is a bad matchup in every way.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You don't have good receivers. Marshawn Lattimore is available for them,
- 5:15Speaker 1: that's gonna bolster their secondary. You're not very good at
- 5:17Speaker 1: running the football. They're not very good at stopping the run.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I don't know why that's dramatically going to improve. You
- 5:23Speaker 1: don't have Derek Carr, you're playing Jake Haner making his
- 5:26Speaker 1: first career start. You flip it around, there's just nothing.
- 5:30Speaker 1: There's no matchup in this game where I go, yep,
- 5:33Speaker 1: that's the thing that benefits New Orleans. That's how they're
- 5:36Speaker 1: gonna win the game. It's just gonna have to be
- 5:39Speaker 1: a hideous football game like you played last week in
- 5:42Speaker 1: New York, and you find a way to win a
- 5:44Speaker 1: terrible game like we just saw on Thursday Night football
- 5:47Speaker 1: with the Rams and the Niners. It was a field
- 5:49Speaker 1: goal game. It finished twelve to six. Like that's the
- 5:53Speaker 1: kind of thing you would need, or you would need
- 5:55Speaker 1: something like what happened when the Saints played the Falcons
- 5:58Speaker 1: the first time, and the Saints that game, despite not
- 6:02Speaker 1: allowing an offensive touchdown by the Falcaus, you just gave
- 6:06Speaker 1: them scores. New Rashid Shihi did a stupid thing and
- 6:09Speaker 1: try to field a ball inside the five yard line.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You just handed them a score on special teams like
- 6:14Speaker 1: those are the types of breaks the Saints would have
- 6:16Speaker 1: to get in this game, and it's just in the NFL,
- 6:18Speaker 1: it's so hard to predict those things. That's why the
- 6:21Speaker 1: Saints are seven and a half point underdog. So look,
- 6:24Speaker 1: I don't think I'm not picking the Saints to win.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I don't think that's gonna be any surprise to anyone.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to win this game, and
- 6:30Speaker 1: I don't think they're gonna win next week either. At
- 6:32Speaker 1: Green Bay. I think they have a great chance if
- 6:34Speaker 1: Derek Carr is back to beat the Raiders in the
- 6:37Speaker 1: second to last week, and then I think they're gonna
- 6:39Speaker 1: play Tampa in the final week of the season, and
- 6:40Speaker 1: Tampa's gonna be playing for the division, and I think
- 6:42Speaker 1: Tampa's gonna beat him. So I think the Saints have
- 6:44Speaker 1: one win left. It's gonna be against the Raiders, and
- 6:46Speaker 1: I don't think the Saints do anything offensively Saturday or
- 6:48Speaker 1: Sunday in the Dome. I think Jade and Daniels and
- 6:51Speaker 1: the Commanders win this twenty seven to ten. I think
- 6:53Speaker 1: it is a relatively easy win for the Commanders. I
- 6:56Speaker 1: don't think that they will be in any way challenged
- 6:58Speaker 1: in this game because I don't know that there's any
- 7:00Speaker 1: where in this game, the Saints can challenge the Washington Commanders.
- 7:03Speaker 1: So give me the Commanders to beat the Saints, and
- 7:05Speaker 1: I think this final month of the season is going
- 7:07Speaker 1: to be a real challenge. Mayde even more complicated by
- 7:09Speaker 1: the fact that you don't want Derek Carr, likely this
- 7:11Speaker 1: week and for the foreseeable future.
