- 1:00Your presence, your heart, your time, they mean the world to me.
- 1:06Thank you for being here. And today I'd like to talk about
- 1:12how you can coach yourself if you're going through challenging
- 1:17times. If nothing is working, you might
- 1:22have a hard time at your work, with your colleagues, with your
- 1:26boss. You might be in discussions with
- 1:29your partner because your relationship doesn't satisfy you
- 1:35or your partner. You might be in conflicts with
- 1:39your family, with friends, whatever makes you sad,
- 1:45depressed, angry, desperate. I know exactly how you feel.
- 1:51I've been there. My whole life had been a huge
- 1:56struggle before I learned to coach myself.
- 2:01I felt exactly how one of my friends felt today when I called
- 2:08her. She was so desperate she didn't
- 2:11want to live anymore. Her life seemed like a long
- 2:17battle to her, she said. I've been happy for only a small
- 2:23percentage of my life. The rest has been a huge
- 2:28struggle. Her family had always been
- 2:33against her. Her children and her ex-husband
- 2:37treated her as if she was mentally ill.
- 2:42I could feel how everything seemed so dark in her life.
- 2:48She didn't see any light at the end of the tunnel, and she
- 2:53believed that disappearing silently from this world will be
- 2:59the only option. I've been there as well many
- 3:04times. I would have put an end to my
- 3:08life if I had had a safe and easy solution.
- 3:14So I suggested to my friend that I could drive over to her or she
- 3:20could come to my place and stay a couple of days at my house.
- 3:26And I also told her that I didn't want to lose her.
- 3:31Saying goodbye to my mom 3 months ago had been already
- 3:36enough for me. The longer we talked, the more
- 3:41cheerful my friend became. She started talking about the
- 3:45funny pictures she took this morning at the station and at
- 3:51the end she agreed that we would stick to our plan to go for a
- 3:57hike together the next week, because at the beginning of our
- 4:02call she wanted to cancel our plan.
- 4:06And then she also told me that she was so grateful that I had
- 4:12felt she needed this call. Her situation and her state
- 4:19reminded me so much of my own in the past.
- 4:24How many times had I felt so desperate because I thought
- 4:30exactly the same way as my friend did today?
- 4:35And you might feel the same way some days as well.
- 4:40I remembered how I did it back then, how I went down the rabbit
- 4:46hole, how I ended up in this negative spiral, how I felt
- 4:52deeper and deeper. At the end I felt so down I
- 4:58could only cry and most of the time I felt so much self pity
- 5:04that I cried even more. This has been soothing as well,
- 5:10but I would not like to go back to those dark places anymore.
- 5:17So how can you coach yourself in those moments?
- 5:22And what do I do today in order not to fall in this rabbit hole
- 5:28anymore? One important thing is not to
- 5:33allow myself to go back to my past and remember all the
- 5:39similar situations that had me make feel miserable and stack
- 5:46them one after the other and prove myself that my whole life
- 5:52had been miserable until now. This is such a dangerous game.
- 5:59It doesn't help, but it makes everything worse.
- 6:05What I do instead Today I ask myself, what makes me so angry,
- 6:14so sad, so desperate at the moment?
- 6:18What is it that this little girl in me needs right now?
- 6:25Does it need to be seen? Does it need to be understood?
- 6:30Does it need to be hugged? Does it need to hear that she's
- 6:35good enough, she's lovable, and that the things she does are
- 6:41totally right, although other people around her say the
- 6:46opposite? And then a third thing.
- 6:51Stay in the present and ask myself what can I do right now
- 6:58to change the situation? What can my contribution be that
- 7:03something changes to the better? Do I need to speak the truth?
- 7:10I'm probably afraid of the way. Or do I need to step up and do
- 7:16something I've never done? Or do I need to tell myself,
- 7:22let's wait, let's be patient, let's see what happens?
- 7:29What is crucial is that you have already the answer inside you.
- 7:36The only thing is that you don't trust yourself.
- 7:41You don't dare to trust yourself because you haven't had trust in
- 7:47yourself for your whole life. But believe me, deep inside you
- 7:54have to knowing what is right and what is wrong and you know
- 7:59exactly what you need to do. And sometimes it also helps me
- 8:07when I tell myself this situation won't last forever.
- 8:14One day it will be over. I don't know yet when, and it is
- 8:20challenging to be in this situation, to stand it with all
- 8:25the emotions it brings with it. But I need to go through it.
- 8:31There's no other way. I need to accept it as it is.
- 8:38This was, for example, the situation when my mom had broken
- 8:42her other leg and she didn't recover from it but just wanted
- 8:48to die, and it went on for nearly four months until she
- 8:54could peacefully leave this world.
- 8:58I could not change anything. I needed to fully accept the
- 9:03situation as it was. Another thing that also always
- 9:10helps me is to start writing down all the things I'm grateful
- 9:15for in my life. I forced myself to go on a
- 9:21search for the beautiful things in my life.
- 9:25At the beginning, it is probably challenging because I need to
- 9:31shift my focus from the negative to the positive.
- 9:36And I tell you, you don't have to find big things that you can
- 9:42be grateful for. Just take the tiny little things
- 9:48you see around you, see around you in the room you're in, or
- 9:54from nature if you're outside, or just a nice cloud or a ray of
- 10:01sunshine. You can always find something
- 10:06tiny. Tiny but beautiful.
- 10:10And now you stack those beautiful things one after the
- 10:15other. And as I said earlier, I used to
- 10:21stack all the negative things from my past life and I felt
- 10:26more miserable from minute to minute.
- 10:30Have you done that as well? But now or the next time you
- 10:35feel desperate, you will stack. You will start stacking all the
- 10:41beautiful moments in your life and you will feel totally
- 10:45different. And this is what I mean by
- 10:50coaching yourself. You don't run the old usual
- 10:55program and you end in a rabbit hole, but you take yourself by
- 11:01the hand and you consciously start a different program, a new
- 11:07program, and it will bring you a totally different result.
- 11:14Are you with me? Will you remember those steps
- 11:18when you will feel miserable next time?
- 11:22I do hope so. And if you need help with
- 11:26changing your state and getting a different result, let me know.
- 11:32I'm very grateful to guide you because I know myself.
- 11:37It is important to have a coach who gives you the tools to take
- 11:42yourself by the hands and bring yourself to a better place.
- 11:49Thank you, dear listener, for spending your precious time with
- 11:53me. You're amazing and you're a gift
- 11:57to everyone who crosses your path.
- 12:00If no one has told you this today, let me say it.
- 12:05You're worthy, you deserve to be loved, and you matter.
- 12:10Have an amazing day and I'll talk to you next week.
