- 0:20Speaker 1: So we gather together this morning on our this is
- 0:22Speaker 1: the life podcast getting ready for our morning moments with
- 0:25Speaker 1: jesus today the lord comes to us through his word
- 0:28Speaker 1: uh in luke chapter 17 this morning as we continue
- 0:32Speaker 1: yesterday we talked about receiving mercy today i want us
- 0:37Speaker 1: to kind of continue that pattern uh it with the
- 0:42Speaker 1: question that the Lord really comes to us with. And
- 0:45Speaker 1: that's whether or not we really even recognize God's mercy
- 0:50Speaker 1: when it comes. And there's a great illustration of that
- 0:54Speaker 1: in Luke 17, verse 14 and 15. And this is
- 0:58Speaker 1: the story of when the ten lepers were healed. And
- 1:02Speaker 1: it says, And when he saw them, he said unto them,
- 1:06Speaker 1: Go shew thyself unto the priest. And it came to
- 1:11Speaker 1: pass that as they went, they were cleansed. Now verse
- 1:17Speaker 1: 15 is what's important. And one of them, when he
- 1:21Speaker 1: saw that he was healed, turned back and with a
- 1:26Speaker 1: loud voice glorified God. See, Jesus healed ten men who
- 1:33Speaker 1: had leprosy. All ten began walking towards the priest as
- 1:38Speaker 1: he instructed them. But along the way, they were cleansed.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They had asked Jesus for mercy, and He had answered that.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yet only one of them recognized mercy, turned back, and
- 1:56Speaker 1: glorified Him. And as I think about that this morning,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I wonder how often we have been like the other nine.
- 2:05Speaker 1: We pray for help, and then we get so caught
- 2:08Speaker 1: up and so busy in moving forward That we fail
- 2:12Speaker 1: to stop and recognize what God has done in our lives.
- 2:15Speaker 1: The very thing that we ask Him for, He delivered.
- 2:19Speaker 1: But we get so busy, we fail to even stop
- 2:23Speaker 1: and recognize it and acknowledge it to Him. Sometimes, yeah,
- 2:27Speaker 1: His mercy is unmistakable and we do stop and praise.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Maybe it's a prayer that was answered just right on time.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Maybe it's a relationship that you had really prayed for
- 2:38Speaker 1: God's mercy to fall upon that and heal. And it did.
- 2:41Speaker 1: It began to heal. Maybe it's a burden that you
- 2:43Speaker 1: thought you could never bear. But all of a sudden
- 2:46Speaker 1: it just got a little lighter and God answered with
- 2:49Speaker 1: His mercy. You know, we have been helped. We know
- 2:54Speaker 1: in those situations that God has shown us mercy. But
- 2:58Speaker 1: other times, mercy arrives so quietly that we might call
- 3:04Speaker 1: it just an ordinary day. But how many of you
- 3:07Speaker 1: know you only got up this morning because of God's mercy?
- 3:11Speaker 1: We wake up with another opportunity to make things right.
- 3:16Speaker 1: We wake up every morning with a patience within us
- 3:21Speaker 1: to speak what needs to be spoken and listen and
- 3:24Speaker 1: not kind of get ahead of ourselves but have a
- 3:27Speaker 1: lot of patience and understanding with people. How many of
- 3:30Speaker 1: you know that's because of God's mercy? Maybe a conversation
- 3:34Speaker 1: you dread all of a sudden opens the door for
- 3:37Speaker 1: a greater understanding. Do you ever stop to think Man,
- 3:41Speaker 1: that was God's mercy on my life. See, those moments,
- 3:46Speaker 1: they may seem small, but they still deserve our attention.
- 3:51Speaker 1: We start by simply being grateful that His compassion fails not,
- 3:57Speaker 1: and it reaches into the everyday parts of our lives.
- 4:01Speaker 1: So let's not just praise God for the mercy He
- 4:04Speaker 1: shows us and the grace He shows us through those big, bold,
- 4:08Speaker 1: unmistakable moments. But let us make sure we also stop
- 4:13Speaker 1: every day and thank God for his mercy. Just for
- 4:17Speaker 1: the breath of life. The man who returned to Jesus
- 4:21Speaker 1: did something very simple. And it's a pattern that all
- 4:25Speaker 1: God requires of us. He noticed. He recognized mercy. He
- 4:31Speaker 1: turned around. Took the time to turn around. Come back.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And give the Lord thanks. That's it. Perhaps that's a
- 4:43Speaker 1: good pattern for us. Notice what has happened. Look back
- 4:47Speaker 1: far enough to see how God cared for you and
- 4:49Speaker 1: answered something that you even forgot you asked. Then just
- 4:54Speaker 1: tell him, thank you, Lord. Thank you for your mercy.
- 4:59Speaker 1: There may even be someone today that you need to
- 5:02Speaker 1: thank today. Because listen, God often shows mercy through the
- 5:07Speaker 1: people who listen to you, who forgive you, who encourage
- 5:11Speaker 1: you and who stay beside you when life gets difficult.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Let them know today that their kindness matters. Before this
- 5:22Speaker 1: day is over, I want you to take a moment
- 5:24Speaker 1: to remember just one simple act of mercy that you
- 5:29Speaker 1: might have overlooked and let pass by. Maybe something you
- 5:34Speaker 1: once prayed for and now you live with every single
- 5:37Speaker 1: day because God showed You his mercy. See let recognizing it.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Turn your heart toward the one. Who has been faithful
- 5:47Speaker 1: to you. All along. So today I want to ask
- 5:51Speaker 1: you a question. As we get ready to close. What
- 5:52Speaker 1: mercy in your life. Have you grown so accustomed to.
- 5:56Speaker 1: That you rarely notice anymore. Today you be safe. You
- 6:02Speaker 1: be strong. You be blessed. You be aware. Of God's mercy.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Lord's will, we'll see you back here again tomorrow. And
- 6:12Speaker 1: until then, sure hope you have a great day.
