- 0:33Speaker 3: Well, yesterday the New York Times dropped a massive story
- 0:37Speaker 3: bylined by Jonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman going through the
- 0:41Speaker 3: kind of TikTok account leading up to the war and
- 0:45Speaker 3: how is really Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu when he visited
- 0:49Speaker 3: in mid February. February eleventh is the date here, spoke
- 0:53Speaker 3: to the President and laid out what he believed was
- 0:56Speaker 3: a the how would we describe this ryan and the
- 1:00Speaker 3: likely case of scenarios should Trump launch another air campaign
- 1:06Speaker 3: against Iran. This was a big, big story and I've
- 1:11Speaker 3: seen some people saying, well, now we all trust the
- 1:14Speaker 3: New York Times again, because it's got some huge details
- 1:18Speaker 3: about what different members of Trump's cabinet, what different advisors
- 1:22Speaker 3: were saying to him. If Jonathan's Wan's byline is on
- 1:26Speaker 3: a Trump story, I mean, Maggie Haberman has obviously a
- 1:29Speaker 3: lot of access as well, But if Jonathan's wants byline
- 1:32Speaker 3: is on anything, I'm taking it very very seriously.
- 1:34Speaker 4: I think they're both tremendous reporters, and they're very well sourced,
- 1:40Speaker 4: and they are the kinds of people that are going
- 1:44Speaker 4: to get a story like this, and the way these
- 1:48Speaker 4: are these I haven't done inside the situation room ones really,
- 1:52Speaker 4: but like these oval office or like top congressional leadership
- 1:56Speaker 4: stories are. They're fun to do because once you get
- 2:00Speaker 4: one person telling you what happened in the meeting mm hmm,
- 2:03Speaker 4: it's so fun from there because then you go to
- 2:05Speaker 4: everybody else telephone and you're like, so, this is what
- 2:09Speaker 4: Vance says happened, and they're like, and once you've got it,
- 2:12Speaker 4: then everyone else comes and they're like, oh, okay, you
- 2:15Speaker 4: already have it clearly, but you only have it from
- 2:18Speaker 4: one perspective. Let me tell you my perspective. So that's
- 2:21Speaker 4: clearly what happened here. Somebody came to them and was like,
- 2:23Speaker 4: here's what happened in is these couple meetings, and then
- 2:26Speaker 4: they were able to go to everybody else, and then
- 2:29Speaker 4: they were obviously able to say, do you have any
- 2:31Speaker 4: notes because they have some direct quotes in here.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:33Speaker 5: Yeah, So let's roll.
- 2:34Speaker 3: I was gonna say, this is verbatim quotes and we'll
- 2:38Speaker 3: start here with C two. This is what happened. So
- 2:41Speaker 3: again we're on February eleventh. The black suv carrying Prime
- 2:44Speaker 3: Minister and nets Yahu arrived at the White House just
- 2:46Speaker 3: before eleven am. The Israeli leader, reports of Times, who
- 2:49Speaker 3: had been pressing for months for the US to agree
- 2:52Speaker 3: to a major assaultant Ron, was whisked inside with little ceremony,
- 2:55Speaker 3: out of view of reporters, Primed for one of the
- 2:57Speaker 3: most high stakes moments in his long career. US and
- 3:00Speaker 3: Israeli officials gathered first in the Cabinet room, then mister Netanya,
- 3:04Speaker 3: who headed downstairs for the main event, a highly classified
- 3:06Speaker 3: presentation on Iran for Trump and his team in the
- 3:09Speaker 3: Situation room, which was rarely used for in person meetings
- 3:12Speaker 3: with foreign leaders. I was really surprised by that detail. Ryan.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Mister Trump sat down, but not in his usual position
- 3:17Speaker 3: at the head of the room's mahogany conference table. Instead,
- 3:19Speaker 3: the President took a seat on one side, facing the
- 3:22Speaker 3: large screens mounted along the wall, mister Netanya who sat
- 3:26Speaker 3: on the other side, directly opposing the president. All right.
- 3:29Speaker 3: So the story then goes on to report verbatim quotes
- 3:33Speaker 3: from people throughout Trump's cabinet, which makes us wonder. I
- 3:38Speaker 3: guess I can speak for both of us, Ryan, if
- 3:40Speaker 3: somebody was operating off of a recording and it was
- 3:42Speaker 3: impossible for people to deny these verbatim quotes notes, possibly, Yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 3: that would make sense too. So here's general that you're
- 3:52Speaker 3: in their recording. I would think not yeah, I would
- 3:54Speaker 3: think Trump can. So this is a long quote for example.
- 3:58Speaker 3: So this is from Chairman of the Joint Chise of Dan
- 4:01Speaker 3: Raisin Kine, who says, sir, this is in my experience,
- 4:03Speaker 3: standard operating procedure for the Israelis. They oversell and their
- 4:07Speaker 3: plans are not always well developed. They know they need us,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and that's why they're hard selling. So this is Trump
- 4:15Speaker 3: going around the room asking his advisors for their response
- 4:20Speaker 3: to what they had heard the day before. So this
- 4:23Speaker 3: is the day after Trump is in a meeting with
- 4:27Speaker 3: these advisors, so you'll get a sense of who was
- 4:31Speaker 3: in the room. But February twelfth, you have CIA head
- 4:36Speaker 3: John Ratcliffe there. Obviously Dan Kaine is in there. Let's
- 4:39Speaker 3: keep going through these quotes. Jd Vance says, according to
- 4:43Speaker 3: the Time, according to the Times, you know, I think
- 4:47Speaker 3: this is a bad idea, but if you want to
- 4:49Speaker 3: do it, I'll support you. John Ratcliffe, head of the CIA,
- 4:54Speaker 3: quote offered no opinion on whether to proceed, but he
- 4:57Speaker 3: discussed the stunning new intelligence that the Iranian leadership was
- 4:59Speaker 3: about to gather in the Iotols compound in Tehran. The
- 5:02Speaker 3: CIA director told the president that regime change was possible,
- 5:06Speaker 3: depending on how the term was defined. Quote, if we
- 5:09Speaker 3: just mean killing the Supreme leader, we can probably do that.
- 5:13Speaker 3: And then we also go through Marco Rubio, who said, basically,
- 5:17Speaker 3: according to the Times, the Israeli assessment was bullshit.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Yeah, so basically yeah, so the Israelis.
- 5:25Speaker 4: So Netna who said netya, who came in and made
- 5:29Speaker 4: a hard this his hard pitch was February eleventh, and
- 5:33Speaker 4: he's and he makes four points, right. So the first
- 5:36Speaker 4: point he makes is we can decapitate the regime, and
- 5:40Speaker 4: there was this meeting where the Iatola is meeting above
- 5:42Speaker 4: ground with a bunch of leadership, so we can take
- 5:45Speaker 4: him out. He then says, we can uh degrade Iran's
- 5:51Speaker 4: capacity to attack.
- 5:53Speaker 5: It's it's allies like the I mean not its.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Allies, our allies, the Gulf, the Gulf allies, and we
- 6:01Speaker 4: can They'll be so weak they won't be able to
- 6:03Speaker 4: block the strait of her moves. We will be able
- 6:06Speaker 4: to overthrow the regime, and we will be able to
- 6:10Speaker 4: replace them with a secular regime. So those were the
- 6:13Speaker 4: four things that Netya who claimed were possible. So then
- 6:18Speaker 4: they asked the CIA overnight to go over this stuff.
- 6:22Speaker 4: They come back the next day for this February twelfth meeting,
- 6:24Speaker 4: which you're talking about here.
- 6:25Speaker 5: That's when Rubio says, no, this is bullshit.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And then there's a February twenty sixth meeting, by the way,
- 6:30Speaker 3: which is where So there's February eleventh, that's February twelfth,
- 6:33Speaker 3: and then February twenty six Let's.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Linger on February twelve just a little bit because That's
- 6:37Speaker 4: where Ratcliffe also says, he's the head of the CIA,
- 6:40Speaker 4: He's like, what do you think about this assessment from
- 6:42Speaker 4: the Israelis that these four things are possible?
- 6:46Speaker 5: You know.
- 6:46Speaker 4: CIA calls it farcical. Yes, Ratcliffe says, they always do No.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Kine says they always do this. Ratcliffe's like, yeah, no,
- 6:55Speaker 4: like nobody like they didn't really think that this was accurate. Now,
- 6:59Speaker 4: CIA says, yeah, can we can we kill the Ayatola
- 7:02Speaker 4: and top leaders.
- 7:03Speaker 5: Yeah, we can probably do that.
- 7:04Speaker 4: And the CIA seems to have botched a little bit
- 7:07Speaker 4: our ability to stop them from attacking the Gulf allies,
- 7:11Speaker 4: so they were even wrong about that. But the CIA
- 7:13Speaker 4: was very clear, you can't do You're not going to
- 7:15Speaker 4: do regime change very unlikely. I mean, you're not going
- 7:18Speaker 4: to replace them with a secular leader, even.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Though again it's who was telling you and Trump, according
- 7:22Speaker 3: to the story, who lays all this out, and Trump
- 7:24Speaker 3: says basically some version of sounds good.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Yeah, and then and then CIA says, well, you can't
- 7:29Speaker 4: actually accomplish that, and Trump says, well, that's their problem.
- 7:32Speaker 4: And the Times right, it's not clear if even meant
- 7:36Speaker 4: regime change was Israel's problem. Or the running people's problem.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Either way, Trump's like, all right, so actually the thing
- 7:41Speaker 4: you're saying you want to do, we can't actually do,
- 7:44Speaker 4: but we can kill the Ayatola, all right, So anyway,
- 7:47Speaker 4: go ahead.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Well no, let's flash forward to February twenty six where,
- 7:51Speaker 3: again according to the Times story, and we can speculate
- 7:54Speaker 3: on the sourcing for it. Obviously they're sourcing across the
- 7:57Speaker 3: board because they have again direct quotes from multiple meetings.
- 8:01Speaker 3: But it's clear, with the possible exception of heg Seth
- 8:06Speaker 3: utterly tepid reactions across the board from Trump's advice.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Nobody really other than Hegseth wants to do this.
- 8:13Speaker 3: It seems like, yeah, nobody's excited about it. Everybody is
- 8:16Speaker 3: supporting Trump and making it very clear that they support Trump,
- 8:19Speaker 3: which is obviously cowardly if you oppose staunchly.
- 8:23Speaker 4: It turns out it was important and Trump wanted to
- 8:25Speaker 4: have people that would push back against him.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Good point.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Get these clowns in there and who are against it
- 8:30Speaker 4: but won't say it, plus heg Seth, and we get
- 8:34Speaker 4: a war.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Right, So this February twenty sixth meeting is Ratcliffe Vance
- 8:39Speaker 3: Susie Wiles White House Counsel David Warrington, Stephen Chung, Caroline Levitt,
- 8:44Speaker 3: and Dan Caine. Hegseeth Rubio. So President opens up the meeting.
- 8:49Speaker 3: They go around the room. This is where j D says,
- 8:51Speaker 3: you know, I think this is a bad idea, but
- 8:53Speaker 3: if you want to do it, I support you. Susie
- 8:55Speaker 3: Wiles says if Trump feels he needs to proceed for
- 8:58Speaker 3: America's national security, then he should go ahead. Ratcliffe says,
- 9:02Speaker 3: if we've just been killing the Supreme Leader, we can
- 9:04Speaker 3: probably do that. So it depends on how you define
- 9:06Speaker 3: regime change. White House Council says it's quote a legally
- 9:10Speaker 3: permissible option in terms of how the plan had been
- 9:12Speaker 3: conceived by US officials and presented to the president. That's
- 9:14Speaker 3: how the Times describes it, and did not offer a
- 9:17Speaker 3: personal opinion. Stephen Chung apparently laid out the likely public
- 9:22Speaker 3: relations fall out quote, mister Trump had run for office
- 9:25Speaker 3: opposed to further wars, people had not voted for conflict overseas.
- 9:28Speaker 3: The plans are in contrary too, to everything the administration
- 9:31Speaker 3: had said after the bombing campaign against Iran in June.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Goes on to say, you know that whatever decision mister
- 9:38Speaker 3: Trump made would be the right one. Caroline Levitt said
- 9:42Speaker 3: it was his decision that the press team would manage
- 9:44Speaker 3: it as best they could. Hexath says they would have
- 9:47Speaker 3: to take care of the Iranians eventually, so they might
- 9:49Speaker 3: as well do it now. They could run the campaign
- 9:51Speaker 3: in a certain amount of time with a given level
- 9:54Speaker 3: of forces. Rubio says, if our goal is regime change
- 9:58Speaker 3: or an uprising, we shouldn't do it. But if the
- 9:59Speaker 3: goal is to destroy Iran's missile program, that's a goal
- 10:03Speaker 3: we can achieve. Everyone deferred to the president's instincts, and
- 10:08Speaker 3: Trump ended basically by saying, I think we need to
- 10:12Speaker 3: do it.
- 10:13Speaker 5: And so good for them.
- 10:14Speaker 4: We did actually diminish Iran's missile supply because Iran blew
- 10:20Speaker 4: up all its missiles in Gulf countries and in Israel. Congratulations,
- 10:25Speaker 4: But what did we got them to fire off their missiles?
- 10:27Speaker 4: And they and yeah, the missiles blew up, but they
- 10:30Speaker 4: blew up inside petrochemical plants, oil refineries, at American military
- 10:35Speaker 4: bases that are now uninhabitable, and hit hundreds, maybe thousands
- 10:41Speaker 4: of sites targets in Israel.
- 10:44Speaker 3: But did we actually destroy their ability to quickly reconstitute
- 10:49Speaker 3: the missile.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Supply, because because a bunch of people ask that too,
- 10:52Speaker 4: they're like, well, hey, boss, like, can't they just get
- 10:54Speaker 4: more missiles?
- 10:55Speaker 3: Right? Well, especially if they're charging for people to come
- 10:58Speaker 3: in and out of hormone.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Every ship being buy a couple of missiles or by
- 11:03Speaker 4: a ton of little drones.
- 11:04Speaker 3: And my understanding is that it's actually fairly it's a
- 11:07Speaker 3: relatively quick timeline for them to reconstitute there.
- 11:11Speaker 4: There are trains, there are trains that run from China
- 11:13Speaker 4: to Iran.
- 11:15Speaker 5: Just load the trains up, pay for it.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Well, this is money, exactly what the money they're making
- 11:21Speaker 4: from hormos.
- 11:22Speaker 3: This is Eli Lake writing in the Free Press this
- 11:24Speaker 3: morning arguing no fan of yours quote in five weeks
- 11:29Speaker 3: of war. Although Eli was very posted to the way
- 11:31Speaker 3: Trump was talking about it, by the way wiping out
- 11:33Speaker 3: a civilization, I do know this, this is very very
- 11:37Speaker 3: by marriage. Yes. Quote in five weeks of war, the
- 11:40Speaker 3: regime has lost its navy, most of its missile launchers,
- 11:43Speaker 3: and a good chunk of its defense industrial base, along
- 11:45Speaker 3: with the top tier of its political and military leadership.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Add to this the damage already done to its nuclear
- 11:50Speaker 3: program in last Yearne's towld Day war. They're more than
- 11:53Speaker 3: nine hundred pounds of uranium buried under the rubble of
- 11:55Speaker 3: what used to be underground enrichment facilities. A year ago,
- 11:58Speaker 3: Ron was on the brink of obtaining a new weapon
- 12:00Speaker 3: and the ballistic missiles to deliver it as far as Europe. Today,
- 12:03Speaker 3: the regimes military has been reduced to a shell of itself.
- 12:08Speaker 3: That is, as Eli puts it in the headline, Trump's
- 12:12Speaker 3: madman act delivering in Iran, what say you right now?
- 12:15Speaker 5: Excellent?
- 12:16Speaker 4: Could go ahead like swallow that, cope and let's end
- 12:20Speaker 4: the war. Good If whether Eli believes that or not,
- 12:25Speaker 4: I have no idea.
- 12:26Speaker 5: I doubt it.
- 12:27Speaker 4: But let's just let him pretend to believe it, and
- 12:29Speaker 4: let all of his allies pretend to believe it, and
- 12:32Speaker 4: we'll just move on.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Y you won, good Win, Good job.
- 12:35Speaker 3: The New York Times also had it also had this
- 12:38Speaker 3: point from the reporting that Tucker had been coming to
- 12:43Speaker 3: the Oval office Tucker Carlson several times over the previous
- 12:46Speaker 3: year to warn Trump that a war with Iran would
- 12:48Speaker 3: destroy his presidency, and then a couple of weeks before
- 12:51Speaker 3: the war began, according to Swan and Haberman, quote. Mister Trump,
- 12:55Speaker 3: who had known mister Carlson for years, tried to reassure
- 12:58Speaker 3: him over the phone. I know you're worried about it,
- 13:00Speaker 3: but it's going to be okay because it always is,
- 13:04Speaker 3: is what he said when Tucker asked how Trump knew
- 13:07Speaker 3: it would be okay because it always is.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Twenty fifth Amendment, Man.
- 13:12Speaker 3: Ryan the So this was the Bulwark podcast with Tim
- 13:17Speaker 3: Miller and Josh Gottheimer that you flagged. Which is interesting
- 13:20Speaker 3: because to your point about swallowing the cope Chris Murphy,
- 13:25Speaker 3: Murphy was out, as you referred to it yesterday. It
- 13:28Speaker 3: was on CNN playing a dangerous game, is what you said.
- 13:31Speaker 3: So let's get to the democratic responsibility.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll have We'll have Yeah Murphy in a second, Godheimer,
- 13:38Speaker 4: So watch this entire interview or debate. Actually it turns
- 13:43Speaker 4: into between Tim Miller and Godheimer. But as the New
- 13:47Speaker 4: York Times, as Marco Rubia already said, by the way,
- 13:50Speaker 4: the timing of the war was driven by Israel, we
- 13:53Speaker 4: now know that Marco Rubio thought the Israeli arguments for the.
- 13:58Speaker 5: War were bs.
- 14:00Speaker 4: That's a direct quote from Rubio that gives color and
- 14:03Speaker 4: context to Rubio. Then blaming Israel for why we launched
- 14:08Speaker 4: the war when we did. Like that, you know, that
- 14:11Speaker 4: helps us to understand that that was not a kind
- 14:13Speaker 4: of accident or a Freudian slip or something.
- 14:15Speaker 5: It was. Rubio was not happy at that moment that
- 14:18Speaker 5: the war had started.
- 14:19Speaker 4: And that we had launched it on Israeli terms, on
- 14:23Speaker 4: Israeli terms that he considered to be bullshit, which.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Gives new meaning to the quote that he said about
- 14:29Speaker 3: the imminent threat why we had to act because of
- 14:32Speaker 3: the imminent threat that was he said, it was basically
- 14:36Speaker 3: the inminet threat was that we were threatened by Israel
- 14:39Speaker 3: making their attack. So Israel makes the attack and then
- 14:41Speaker 3: it's going to blow back on the US. So that's
- 14:44Speaker 3: why we had to act preemptively because we knew so
- 14:46Speaker 3: he said, it would have had to have happened at
- 14:48Speaker 3: some point, but the immediate precipitating factor was that Israel
- 14:51Speaker 3: was going to move, so we needed to move to
- 14:54Speaker 3: prevent the blowback. That is interesting in light of Rubio
- 14:58Speaker 3: calling Natan Yahu's precipitation doctor activity bullshit.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and now we know that Netna, who made this
- 15:05Speaker 4: ninety minute hard sell in the situation room h on
- 15:09Speaker 4: February eleventh, and that that precipitated the decision making to
- 15:13Speaker 4: go in. So Miller asked, Josh Gottheimer, who is compete
- 15:19Speaker 4: consistently competes for not just Democrats, top Israel defender, but
- 15:23Speaker 4: maybe all in all, all of Congress.
- 15:26Speaker 5: So he's here he is.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Here's Tim Miller asking Godheimer if he's allowed to say
- 15:33Speaker 4: that Netna who urged the US to go to war? Now,
- 15:38Speaker 4: given all we know, and Godheimer will not give an inch,
- 15:41Speaker 4: let's here.
- 15:41Speaker 5: It's D six one thing.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Like we both are can I'm concerned about the increasing
- 15:45Speaker 6: anti Semitism in this country, and now you are.
- 15:47Speaker 5: You've talked about it.
- 15:48Speaker 6: And I just and and and and so it worries me,
- 15:52Speaker 6: like I think that an average American That's.
- 15:54Speaker 7: Why I'm not on Pikers. That's why I'm not on
- 15:56Speaker 7: Piker's shown on.
- 15:56Speaker 6: Your Okay, we can talk about that next. Worries I
- 15:59Speaker 6: think that an average American would look at this war
- 16:03Speaker 6: that we're in and say, I don't understand what our
- 16:06Speaker 6: direct interest is. It's costing me more at the pump
- 16:10Speaker 6: that Iran was. We were not responding to a to
- 16:13Speaker 6: a recent terror attack on us from Iran. Obviously, Iran's
- 16:15Speaker 6: been attacking us for a long time through proxies. But like,
- 16:17Speaker 6: if you're just an average American, you're like, I don't
- 16:20Speaker 6: understand why we're doing this. I hear that that bb
- 16:23Speaker 6: Net Nyahu was encouraging Trump to do it, Like I don't.
- 16:28Speaker 6: I don't think that it's crazy for regular people to
- 16:30Speaker 6: look at this in this country and say, okay, and
- 16:32Speaker 6: it seems like Israel was influencing us to get into
- 16:36Speaker 6: this war. And I don't know why we can't just
- 16:39Speaker 6: say that. I think I think it creates distrust when
- 16:42Speaker 6: when we can't just say what is true, like that's
- 16:44Speaker 6: just true, and.
- 16:45Speaker 7: How do you know? But you're just asserting some to
- 16:47Speaker 7: what you just did is exactly what I.
- 16:48Speaker 8: Have a problem with you are you are basing something
- 16:52Speaker 8: on like we have no facts that you know that
- 16:56Speaker 8: you that you you weren't in the line.
- 16:57Speaker 6: I mean, you think the New York Times is wrong.
- 16:59Speaker 6: There was a feb you were eleventh meeting in the
- 17:01Speaker 6: situation room. Bib was in the situation room. You don't
- 17:03Speaker 6: think you think that's you think that's fake news?
- 17:05Speaker 8: Do I think the President and the Prime Minister have
- 17:09Speaker 8: met and talked about Iran many times over the years,
- 17:12Speaker 8: like President Biden did with with with the Prime minister,
- 17:16Speaker 8: like President Obama did with the Prime minister, going back
- 17:19Speaker 8: like to the beginning of time. Do I think people
- 17:21Speaker 8: have talked about these threats together our allies absolutely?
- 17:25Speaker 6: Do I know talk to any other allies? You don't,
- 17:28Speaker 6: like to Japan, He didn't talk to Europe.
- 17:30Speaker 7: Do I know? Like, actually what caused the decision?
- 17:34Speaker 3: No?
- 17:35Speaker 8: And and by the way, the New York Times doesn't know.
- 17:38Speaker 8: And the only people who know were people who were
- 17:40Speaker 8: like in the decision inner circle about what actually made
- 17:43Speaker 8: them make the decision.
- 17:44Speaker 6: It seems like BB was in the decision inner circle together.
- 17:48Speaker 8: That's right, when we have gone to gone into other
- 17:51Speaker 8: conflicts before, like like Obama did, like Biden just did.
- 17:56Speaker 8: Like do you think that we didn't he didn't have
- 17:58Speaker 8: consultation with our apt.
- 18:00Speaker 6: Of course he did. Yeah, That's what I'm saying. I
- 18:02Speaker 6: don't understand why people this one can't why we can't
- 18:04Speaker 6: just say this, why we can't just say it's true.
- 18:06Speaker 8: There's a huge difference between saying somebody made us do it,
- 18:10Speaker 8: they told pushed us into it, versus saying, sure, we
- 18:12Speaker 8: consulted with our allies, and we thought it was best
- 18:14Speaker 8: for America's national security.
- 18:16Speaker 4: So I don't know, Emily, I think that that this
- 18:19Speaker 4: stuff is over, Like that's just like psychedelic, Like it's
- 18:24Speaker 4: like the New York Like you can't even say that
- 18:28Speaker 4: net Yaho urged the US to go to war when
- 18:30Speaker 4: net Yahoo went to the situation room and gave a
- 18:34Speaker 4: ninety minute hard sell urging the US to go to war,
- 18:37Speaker 4: like Trump still has agency. Trump is to blame for
- 18:42Speaker 4: taking the man's advice. It is still a fact that
- 18:46Speaker 4: net Yahoo in February spent ninety minutes the situation room
- 18:51Speaker 4: with Masad and the military commanders behind him on the
- 18:53Speaker 4: screens making the case to war, and Trump bought the case.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Like that is a historical fact.
- 18:59Speaker 4: To tell people that you can't say that is just
- 19:03Speaker 4: actually bizarre.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Oh, it's completely bizarre. But they're still doing it. That's
- 19:08Speaker 3: where we've heard it how many times over the last month.
- 19:11Speaker 3: It's relentless and Josh Gottheimer, a Democrat, is still doing
- 19:14Speaker 3: it how many days into the war. It's just absurd.
- 19:19Speaker 3: After Marco Rubio himself made this point, after multiple Trump advisors,
- 19:24Speaker 3: Mike Johnson came out and said what happened? So, I mean, obviously,
- 19:30Speaker 3: people like Josh Gottheimer know that public opinion is swinging
- 19:34Speaker 3: in the wrong direction, and they're tripling down on making
- 19:37Speaker 3: that situation worse.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Yeah, there's also I think there's Gottheimer is locked in
- 19:42Speaker 4: like this is this is who he is.
- 19:46Speaker 5: He's not changing, you know.
- 19:51Speaker 4: But that was just insane, Like and we'll talk about
- 19:55Speaker 4: some more of that interview in the in the next segment,
- 19:59Speaker 4: because the whole thing is just t him just like
- 20:02Speaker 4: begging him to like be reasonable and Gottheimer refusing.
- 20:08Speaker 3: And to level with him.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Yeah, just to just level what's wrong with saying that
- 20:12Speaker 4: Nanya who went like what urged him.
- 20:15Speaker 5: Exactly if he did?
- 20:16Speaker 3: Because again for Israel, and I don't actually disagree with
- 20:19Speaker 3: this for Israel, it's an existential question for Iran in
- 20:23Speaker 3: this case, when you have the American president and nuclear
- 20:25Speaker 3: power saying that it's an entire civilization on the line
- 20:28Speaker 3: to never come back again, that's existential. So nuclear Award
- 20:32Speaker 3: puts nuclear weapons put countries around the world in existential positions,
- 20:37Speaker 3: which is one of the constantly in existential positions, which
- 20:41Speaker 3: is one of the realities of the last not even
- 20:43Speaker 3: one hundred years that we haven't quite reckoned with that
- 20:47Speaker 3: has wreak tavoc around the world. That is just the
- 20:49Speaker 3: existence of nuclear weapons puts countries in existential threats constantly,
- 20:54Speaker 3: and that creates paranoia and the peer the paranoia creates irrationality,
- 20:59Speaker 3: and that's where you have I think, again, this tripling
- 21:02Speaker 3: down over and over again on an irrational argument. It's
- 21:05Speaker 3: stemming from a paranoia, and the paranoia itself might be irrational,
- 21:10Speaker 3: but again it's coming from the fact that there are
- 21:13Speaker 3: countries armed with nuclear weapons, and that's around the entire world.
- 21:18Speaker 3: So it sounds like woo and silly, but it actually
- 21:20Speaker 3: is really true. It creates complete irrationality and paranoia in geopolitics.
- 21:25Speaker 3: And so for Netsu Yahoo, it is you're coming to
- 21:29Speaker 3: the White House and making this case. And I can
- 21:33Speaker 3: look at that as an American who is just offended
- 21:36Speaker 3: by the way we are treated by Neta Yahoo and say,
- 21:39Speaker 3: from his perspective, it's not the most insane thing in
- 21:42Speaker 3: the world to try to go to Americans into this war.
- 21:44Speaker 3: He thinks he's acting in his own interest. Now I
- 21:46Speaker 3: don't think he's actually acting in his own interest, but
- 21:49Speaker 3: he does.
- 21:51Speaker 4: And you know the country that has nuclear weapons, of
- 21:55Speaker 4: course is Israel, and Israel spent the whole nineteen eighty
- 22:00Speaker 4: arming Iran to get them to fight their other enemy, Iraq.
- 22:05Speaker 4: And so my advice to Israel if it wants to
- 22:08Speaker 4: take it, because they've taken their own advice for a
- 22:10Speaker 4: very long time.
- 22:10Speaker 5: It doesn't see me going well for them, take mine.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Stop treating everybody as around you as an existential threat
- 22:18Speaker 4: and try coexistence.
- 22:19Speaker 5: Right And also, if you can arm Iran.
- 22:21Speaker 4: In the nineteen eighties, why can't you just reach a
- 22:24Speaker 4: piece deal with them now and just end the occupation,
- 22:30Speaker 4: Like stop expanding your territory, like, become a real state.
- 22:34Speaker 5: States have borders.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Like if you're Israel has a right to exist, okay, well,
- 22:40Speaker 4: then Israel should is a state. Like if you think
- 22:43Speaker 4: you have a right to exist, then as a state,
- 22:45Speaker 4: be a state. Stop being this weird thing that has
- 22:48Speaker 4: no borders. It just keeps moving its borders wherever it
- 22:51Speaker 4: feels like that's not a state. What that is not
- 22:54Speaker 4: a state the way we understand it.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Speaking of irrational behavior, Ryan, let's move to the twenty
- 23:02Speaker 3: fifth Amendment, because there are plenty of people on the right.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Interestingly enough, who were calling yesterday on the brink of
- 23:09Speaker 3: potential total war, potential nuclear war, for Trump to be
- 23:14Speaker 3: twenty fifth amendment and amendment? Did if we convert that
- 23:17Speaker 3: into a verb now, Julian your guy drop site Julian's
- 23:21Speaker 3: great worth of follow Julian Andreone has been collecting responses
- 23:26Speaker 3: from members of Congress, mostly Democrats, perhaps entirely Democrats here
- 23:31Speaker 3: in this thread that he had on x Democratic members
- 23:34Speaker 3: of Congress calling for Donald Trump to be pushed out
- 23:38Speaker 3: via the twenty fifth Amendment. That you're saying, for example,
- 23:43Speaker 3: he is unfit for office. That's a common language. Alhan
- 23:48Speaker 3: Omar said, quote this is not okay, invoke the twenty
- 23:50Speaker 3: fifth Amendment and peeche removed this unhinged lunatic must be
- 23:52Speaker 3: removed from office. This is a response to the quote
- 23:55Speaker 3: open the fucking straight, you crazy bastard's post reasonable EDMARKI
- 24:00Speaker 3: said Donald Trump must be removed from office. Not only
- 24:02Speaker 3: is he waging the legal war, he's threatening war crimes
- 24:06Speaker 3: goes on and on. One person captured here in the
- 24:09Speaker 3: threat is former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green, who is former
- 24:14Speaker 3: congresswoman partially because she was starting to break with Trump
- 24:19Speaker 3: on foreign policy issues in the summer and in the fall. Now,
- 24:23Speaker 3: Marjor Taylor Green knows Trump, it's worth mentioning, and I
- 24:27Speaker 3: would venture to say knows Trump well. Was on the
- 24:30Speaker 3: campaign trail with Trump, was meeting with Trump, and has
- 24:34Speaker 3: has been fairly close to him for a long time.
- 24:37Speaker 3: She said, twenty fifth Amendment, all caps. Not a single
- 24:39Speaker 3: bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization.
- 24:43Speaker 3: This is evil and madness. This was in response to
- 24:47Speaker 3: a post that this was yesterday. Trump said all whole
- 24:50Speaker 3: civilization will die to night, never to be brought back again.
- 24:52Speaker 3: That we have referenced several times here. Meanwhile, as that
- 24:57Speaker 3: was happening, let's move on to D two. Bill Clinton,
- 25:03Speaker 3: Barack Obama both basketball posting Basketball maxing yesterday, Ryan, congratulations
- 25:11Speaker 3: to coach Dusty May. Barack Obama posts this team dominated
- 25:16Speaker 3: the tournament from start to finish. Well deserved, Go Blue,
- 25:18Speaker 3: Bill Clinton. Once again the best college hoops teams proof
- 25:21Speaker 3: there's nothing like March madness to get our jaws dropping,
- 25:24Speaker 3: our hearts raising, and our brackets busting. Surely this was
- 25:28Speaker 3: written by Bill Clinton, who could not even remember the
- 25:31Speaker 3: last time he sent an email in the Epstein temposition,
- 25:34Speaker 3: speaking of our hearts racing, there's a potential nuclear war.
- 25:37Speaker 4: So if you got your bracket busted by two number
- 25:40Speaker 4: one seeds in the finals, that's kind of funny.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Let's go on too, Yeah, it's kind of funny. Let's
- 25:46Speaker 3: go on here to Alex Jones. Though. Meanwhile, you have
- 25:49Speaker 3: Barack Obama, Bill Clinton basketball posting, Alex Jones calling for
- 25:53Speaker 3: the twenty fifth Amendment. This is some video of him
- 25:56Speaker 3: saying that.
- 25:57Speaker 9: How do we twenty fifth Amendment?
- 25:58Speaker 10: Of jash The problem is to get the twenty fifth
- 26:01Speaker 10: minutes harder than impeachment. You have to get two thirds
- 26:03Speaker 10: of the House and two thirds of this tackle Trump
- 26:08Speaker 10: and pretend let him pretend he's president and publicly report
- 26:12Speaker 10: that he's going through a health issue. Advanced takeover. It
- 26:15Speaker 10: literally needs to be something like that. It's that bad.
- 26:18Speaker 10: I am in the twilight zone right now.
- 26:22Speaker 9: I am officially in the twilight zone right now, and
- 26:25Speaker 9: I'm sitting there watching Trump wreck, Maga wreck, the Republicans
- 26:29Speaker 9: wreck the world economy, maybe wreck the planet physically, and
- 26:33Speaker 9: then I'm just looking over the Democrats smiling and giggling
- 26:38Speaker 9: and everything else. When they did nothing in Congress to
- 26:40Speaker 9: block this playing with fire gambling again. There should be
- 26:45Speaker 9: a coalition of Republicans and Democrats and they should vote
- 26:48Speaker 9: in on the war powers and say you don't have it,
- 26:50Speaker 9: and they should cut the damn funding of this. My god,
- 26:53Speaker 9: what's it going to take? Trump ending the world?
- 26:56Speaker 3: So Alex Jones, I also saw Candice Owens, Marjorie Taylor Green,
- 26:59Speaker 3: Ryan Obs, Tucker Carlson. I don't know if he said
- 27:01Speaker 3: anything about the twenty fifth Amendment. I don't think he did. Actually,
- 27:03Speaker 3: I have his reaction that he sent in his email
- 27:05Speaker 3: newsletter right in front of me. Basically, he's saying, this
- 27:09Speaker 3: is what happened after Midnight Hammer. He feels like we're
- 27:11Speaker 3: back in the holding pattern post Midnight Hammer holding pattern,
- 27:14Speaker 3: which is not at all an insane position to have
- 27:18Speaker 3: at this moment, but brutal reaction from these Trump I mean,
- 27:25Speaker 3: these are people who've talked to Trump. It's worth mentioning
- 27:27Speaker 3: people who know him long.
- 27:29Speaker 4: Time, allies who are blowing up their relationship with him
- 27:31Speaker 4: over this. That's done non trivial thing when you're talking
- 27:34Speaker 4: about the President of the United States. Kakeem Jeffries was
- 27:36Speaker 4: on CNN yesterday and he said, you know what we
- 27:40Speaker 4: need to do. We need to bring up the War
- 27:41Speaker 4: Powers Resolution immediately. He said, Mike Johnson, he's a call
- 27:45Speaker 4: Congress back into session.
- 27:46Speaker 5: We bring up the War Powers Are you this satire?
- 27:52Speaker 3: Right?
- 27:52Speaker 5: Are you joking? Like Jefferies and Greg Meeks.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Had a top Democrat on Foreign affairs, refused to bring
- 27:59Speaker 4: up the War Power Resolution before going into recess with
- 28:03Speaker 4: Trump threatening this massive escalation, they said they didn't have
- 28:08Speaker 4: enough votes. Does not appear to be the case. They
- 28:11Speaker 4: hadn't made sure that they even had full attendance to
- 28:13Speaker 4: have the vote. And now that we have a ceasefire,
- 28:17Speaker 4: now Jefferies says he's going to bring the War Powers
- 28:20Speaker 4: Resolution to the floor. It's it's insane now, so good
- 28:25Speaker 4: for good for a bunch of these Democrats were saying
- 28:28Speaker 4: like this is this, this is a madman. He needs
- 28:30Speaker 4: to be twenty fifth Amendment. Good for Alex Jones, this
- 28:33Speaker 4: is a good coalition. Some other Democrats, though, have I think,
- 28:40Speaker 4: taken taken the taken the kind of easy political way forward,
- 28:46Speaker 4: which at its heart is psychopathic. Trump threatened to annihilate
- 28:52Speaker 4: an entire civilization and then didn't do it, and some
- 28:55Speaker 4: Democrats are responding by saying, ah, you wimp, I have
- 28:59Speaker 4: to grow.
- 29:02Speaker 5: No, no, what like, what are you trying to do?
- 29:04Speaker 3: Before we roll this clip of Senator Chris Murphy, a
- 29:07Speaker 3: Democrat from Connecticut. I was last night as the news
- 29:10Speaker 3: was breaking. I had CNN on the TV and trying
- 29:14Speaker 3: to figure out what's happening. I had it on mute,
- 29:16Speaker 3: so it's not helping, no happens. I wanted to specifically
- 29:19Speaker 3: see how CNN would react.
- 29:21Speaker 5: That's basically all you're going to learn from CNA.
- 29:23Speaker 3: And I see this come up on the screen with
- 29:25Speaker 3: the chiron and everything, and my thought was, we are
- 29:29Speaker 3: about to go back to war in an even worse
- 29:32Speaker 3: and more brutal, destructive way. As soon as I saw this,
- 29:36Speaker 3: and because it's it's like they're trying it's almost like
- 29:40Speaker 3: they were trying to humiliate Trump and humiliate him back
- 29:44Speaker 3: into war. That's what it looked like.
- 29:47Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, Trump, who clearly must watch this show.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Think about this, Donald, If Democrats desperately want you to
- 29:54Speaker 4: get back into this war. Okay, they are, that's immoral,
- 29:57Speaker 4: it's gross, it's despicable, But think about why they want
- 30:01Speaker 4: you to get into the war. Because it's so damaging
- 30:04Speaker 4: for you, So don't do the thing that Democrats want
- 30:07Speaker 4: you to do. Come on, man, all right, let's roll
- 30:09Speaker 4: D four. Senator Chris Murphy.
- 30:11Speaker 11: Donald Trump has agreed to give Iran control of the
- 30:15Speaker 11: Strait of Hormuz. That is extraordinary. If you go deeper
- 30:19Speaker 11: into the statement from the Iranian National Security Council, they
- 30:23Speaker 11: claim that Trump has also agreed to Iran's right to enrichment,
- 30:29Speaker 11: to suspend all sanctions against Iran, and to allow Iran
- 30:33Speaker 11: to keep their missile program, their drone program, and their
- 30:37Speaker 11: nuclear program. Now, who knows if any of that is true,
- 30:41Speaker 11: but if at the very least this agreement gives Iran
- 30:45Speaker 11: the right to control the strait, that is cataclysmic for
- 30:50Speaker 11: the world. And it is just stunning that that's where
- 30:53Speaker 11: we have gotten to.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Okay, so then, okay, it's cataclysmic for the world. What
- 30:56Speaker 4: is Chris Murphy saying there that we should keep doing
- 31:00Speaker 4: more war?
- 31:02Speaker 5: Like?
- 31:03Speaker 4: Is he thinking like I clearly like they think that
- 31:07Speaker 4: there's some political advantage and making Trump look like the
- 31:10Speaker 4: obvious idiot he is for getting into a war he
- 31:13Speaker 4: shouldn't have gotten into.
- 31:14Speaker 5: And there is and now we're worse off. But everybody
- 31:16Speaker 5: gets that right.
- 31:16Speaker 3: There's obviously a political advantage, but to make it in
- 31:19Speaker 3: that particular way, it's like putting it, it seems to me,
- 31:23Speaker 3: and I think you're right about this, putting partisanship ahead
- 31:25Speaker 3: of the substance of actually keeping the peace.
- 31:28Speaker 5: It's true Trump got us into a war. Now we're
- 31:31Speaker 5: worse off.
- 31:32Speaker 4: But when you talk like that, it sounds like you
- 31:34Speaker 4: should keep like your argument is like, well, let's keep
- 31:37Speaker 4: calling unless unless you start started with I'm glad that
- 31:41Speaker 4: he ended this and bet he best not started again.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Yeah, well, and I'm just Griffin just sent this producer
- 31:47Speaker 3: Griffin just sent this post. This was just to underscore
- 31:50Speaker 3: how ridiculous it is to see a Democrat talking like this.
- 31:53Speaker 3: From Megan Kelly, obviously my boss, who said yesterday on
- 31:57Speaker 3: her show, I am sick of this shit? Can't he
- 32:00Speaker 3: just behave like a normal human Trump?
- 32:03Speaker 12: Ye?
- 32:03Speaker 3: In reference to Trump? But this is again why and
- 32:08Speaker 3: we was on this was a video, but it was
- 32:11Speaker 3: on yesterday's show. But we've been talking on Monday about
- 32:14Speaker 3: how you have to when the president of the United
- 32:16Speaker 3: States is talking about wiping out entire civilizations and total destruction,
- 32:21Speaker 3: it doesn't matter. If it's a taco negotiation, you have
- 32:24Speaker 3: to take it seriously. It very obviously seemed like a
- 32:27Speaker 3: taco negotiation. But you don't have the luxury of saying, oh,
- 32:29Speaker 3: this is just a taco. I'll take Trump seriously. When
- 32:32Speaker 3: I decide to take Trump seriously, I'll take Trump seriously,
- 32:35Speaker 3: and I'll just take the l if I'm wrong that
- 32:37Speaker 3: he's not serious. You can't do that with nuclear powers.
- 32:40Speaker 3: You can't. We don't know of the luxury. I'm sorry,
- 32:42Speaker 3: we don't have the luxury of doing that. And then
- 32:45Speaker 3: to have Democrats continuing to act as though this is
- 32:49Speaker 3: normal partisan politics. Obviously Republicans are doing it too, and
- 32:52Speaker 3: even worse because they're supporting Trump, so it's it's not
- 32:56Speaker 3: good all around. But then to have even the political
- 32:59Speaker 3: opposition taking partisan dubs when you have total destruction of
- 33:04Speaker 3: a civilization on the table, as unlikely as that may
- 33:08Speaker 3: have seemed, it doesn't matter what the odds are, any
- 33:11Speaker 3: talk of that takes away the luxury of just saying
- 33:14Speaker 3: it's possibly a taco. And here you have the dem
- 33:17Speaker 3: victory lap like, oh Trump is so weak.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Right, It's as bad as the CNBC clip that's been
- 33:22Speaker 4: going to file. So Rota posts that it's like Trump
- 33:25Speaker 4: is threatened to end civilization. What should investors do?
- 33:28Speaker 3: Sha, what does this mean for the dow?
- 33:32Speaker 4: So Tim Miller over the bulwark, who's been on fire,
- 33:35Speaker 4: I'll probably get him in trouble by and saying that
- 33:38Speaker 4: so he had Democrat Josh Gottheimer on. Godheimer wouldn't even
- 33:41Speaker 4: say he's against the war. He's sort of processing that
- 33:45Speaker 4: it's going through the ceasefire. Let's roll some of Miller's
- 33:48Speaker 4: interview with Godheimer back.
- 33:50Speaker 7: To the other thing we're talking about. No, obviously not
- 33:53Speaker 7: And I said.
- 33:54Speaker 6: That, yeah, obviously not. So why would we trust him
- 33:56Speaker 6: to do something if we know he isn't going to
- 33:58Speaker 6: handle it? Well, well, this is a very high stake situation.
- 34:01Speaker 6: I don't think anybody, you know, the straight.
- 34:02Speaker 8: Up ours the best general because it's not just Donald
- 34:06Speaker 8: Trump that runs this. We've got the best generals in
- 34:08Speaker 8: the world and the best military in the world. The
- 34:09Speaker 8: best intelligence in the world is the community.
- 34:12Speaker 6: I mean, but our generals are not the ones that
- 34:14Speaker 6: are bleeding out a whole civilization will die tonight, never
- 34:17Speaker 6: to be brought back again. That's the president, that's their boss.
- 34:20Speaker 7: Yes, But okay, but fine, so why would you So.
- 34:22Speaker 6: Yeah, it's absurd. Why would you let a guy that
- 34:24Speaker 6: would tweet that be in charge of a war where
- 34:27Speaker 6: American lives are at risk?
- 34:29Speaker 7: Because who's going to be We have a commander in chief,
- 34:31Speaker 7: that's his job.
- 34:32Speaker 5: What do you want, yeah up to oppose them?
- 34:34Speaker 6: I think to say that, as a democratic representative, you
- 34:37Speaker 6: do not think that an unhinged commander in chief should
- 34:39Speaker 6: be getting us into a war where he's promising genocide
- 34:41Speaker 6: and iron.
- 34:42Speaker 8: The reason why I opposed it why I supported the
- 34:44Speaker 8: War Powers Resolution a couple of weeks ago, because I opposed.
- 34:47Speaker 7: It and made it very clear.
- 34:48Speaker 8: But like, that doesn't mean that I'm not going to
- 34:50Speaker 8: support our servicemen and women. It doesn't mean I'm not
- 34:52Speaker 8: going to back the great work of our military and
- 34:54Speaker 8: intelligence community. It doesn't mean that I'm not going to
- 34:56Speaker 8: say the government of Iran needs.
- 34:57Speaker 5: To be crushed.
- 34:58Speaker 7: Okay, that's what I say. You know, so you're.
- 35:02Speaker 6: Kind of forwarding the abstract like you wish it would
- 35:05Speaker 6: work well, but you don't know what the objectives are,
- 35:09Speaker 6: and you don't you want to do anything to concentrate totally.
- 35:13Speaker 8: I have a huge problem with how this thing is
- 35:15Speaker 8: being executed from how it's being executed, The goal of
- 35:20Speaker 8: crushing Iran, I think is I can think of all
- 35:24Speaker 8: of the crushing Iran is the right thing. I think
- 35:26Speaker 8: not giving us hearings is a problem. I think not
- 35:29Speaker 8: giving us more information the country and the Congress is
- 35:32Speaker 8: a huge problem. I think firing the Army chief of
- 35:34Speaker 8: staff huge problem.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Right, So you.
- 35:37Speaker 8: Asked me, if you asked me like, do I think
- 35:39Speaker 8: the goal of massively diminishing Iran is a good thing?
- 35:42Speaker 7: Totally?
- 35:43Speaker 3: Do?
- 35:43Speaker 7: I think the way this is being executed is going well?
- 35:45Speaker 3: No?
- 35:46Speaker 6: So do you think we're stronger? Do you think we're
- 35:48Speaker 6: in a better place now than we were six weeks ago? Economically, geopolitically,
- 35:53Speaker 6: from a safety standpoint? Do you think we're in a
- 35:55Speaker 6: better worse place than we were six weeks I think
- 35:57Speaker 6: if we've.
- 35:57Speaker 8: Diminished their military, I think we're stronger if we've diminished them.
- 36:01Speaker 5: Really, what's nice about Gotheimer?
- 36:04Speaker 4: I think it's like I think he's speaking openly in
- 36:06Speaker 4: ways that a lot of Democrats feel privately, and that
- 36:10Speaker 4: that is I don't think that's going to be the case.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Maybe a couple of cycles from now. I think there's
- 36:16Speaker 4: a real reckoning coming inside the Democratic Party, whether they
- 36:21Speaker 4: like it or not, whether they cancel Hassan Piker or not.
- 36:25Speaker 5: But yeah, that'll do it.
- 36:26Speaker 4: But yeah, that that from Gotttheimer. I don't like the president,
- 36:31Speaker 4: but I like that he's going to war with Iran
- 36:34Speaker 4: is gross and he's in the deep minority of being
- 36:39Speaker 4: willing to say that publicly. But yeah, my understanding is
- 36:42Speaker 4: that that's a pretty pervasive view kind of privately.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Well, and on the other hand, should add that it's
- 36:49Speaker 3: also since we're talking about the Bulwark, wildly amusing to
- 36:53Speaker 3: see neo conservatives coping by being so anti Trump that
- 37:00Speaker 3: the war they've wanted forever is still not good enough
- 37:03Speaker 3: in one way or the other. I mean, just banana
- 37:06Speaker 3: stuff all around. Although Tim was never a NOI not
- 37:10Speaker 3: Tim no.
- 37:10Speaker 5: But let other bulwark.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Yeah, the interesting times speaking people crashing out, Should we
- 37:18Speaker 4: talk about Ben Shapiro, Yes, let's do it.
- 37:24Speaker 3: Well, Ryan and his colleagues over at drop Sad News
- 37:26Speaker 3: have found themselves in the cross hairs of people who
- 37:30Speaker 3: are in support of or were in supportive the Iran war,
- 37:35Speaker 3: including Ben Shapiro, who you know, I think Grant, I'm
- 37:38Speaker 3: catching astray in this clip as well, because he talks
- 37:41Speaker 3: about how you're part of the horseshoe, which would involve
- 37:44Speaker 3: your right wing allies.
- 37:46Speaker 5: Go you the woke right.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Let's not open up that candle worms. Let's first, let's
- 37:51Speaker 3: just roll the clip. People can make up their own minds.
- 37:54Speaker 13: Ryan grim who's become a favorite on the horseshoe right
- 37:57Speaker 13: and the Grievance Party right, suddenly quoted by all of
- 38:00Speaker 13: these people who have decided that isolationism is the way.
- 38:03Speaker 13: He put out an actual tweet saying this. So Sean maguire,
- 38:07Speaker 13: who's an investor, put out a tweet saying, how do
- 38:10Speaker 13: we get to the point where so many Americans are
- 38:11Speaker 13: rooting against America? And Ryan Grimm over at drop site News,
- 38:15Speaker 13: which is in left wing misinformation propaganda site, put out
- 38:21Speaker 13: the statement quote, if this is an honest question, I'd
- 38:23Speaker 13: say Americans are rooting against America because we facilitated a genocide.
- 38:26Speaker 13: Presumably this would be Israel's action against Camas, which was not,
- 38:29Speaker 13: in fact even remotely close to genocide, and followed it
- 38:32Speaker 13: with a surprise attack on a girls elementary school, followed
- 38:35Speaker 13: by attacks on universities, medical centers, more schools, a world
- 38:38Speaker 13: famous pharmaceutical research center, a volleyball team, an unfinished bridge
- 38:42Speaker 13: we claimed was transporting weapons, and then a nuclear power plant.
- 38:45Speaker 13: We are now promising endless attacks on civilian infrastructure. Okay,
- 38:48Speaker 13: So again, every single thing he is saying there is
- 38:50Speaker 13: a lie. And the reason I say it's a lie
- 38:52Speaker 13: is because we have hit those sites because they are
- 38:54Speaker 13: dual use sites, except for the ones that we hit
- 38:56Speaker 13: by accident. If you truly believe that the American military
- 39:01Speaker 13: is so evil that we target girls schools for the
- 39:03Speaker 13: fun of it, that there's no military usefulness, no mistakes made,
- 39:07Speaker 13: that we just decided to get up one morning and
- 39:08Speaker 13: murder a bunch of school girls, get the hell out
- 39:11Speaker 13: of the country. Seriously, you hate the country and you
- 39:13Speaker 13: hate the military. There's no other way to explain what
- 39:16Speaker 13: you are saying. There's no other way to explain it.
- 39:19Speaker 13: You think Pete Hegseth and President Trump are sitting around
- 39:21Speaker 13: drawing up a target list and they say, you know what,
- 39:23Speaker 13: just for good measure, let's kill a bunch of Iranian schoolgirls.
- 39:26Speaker 13: Is that what you think? If you think that you
- 39:29Speaker 13: despise America again, you can oppose the war. You can
- 39:32Speaker 13: impose the way that the war is being fought. You
- 39:34Speaker 13: can have problems with the general overall strategy, you can
- 39:36Speaker 13: have honest questions about the war. That's how we're talking
- 39:38Speaker 13: about here. We're talking about people openly hoping that America
- 39:42Speaker 13: loses because they do not like America, because they think
- 39:47Speaker 13: a more powerful America in the world is a bad thing.
- 39:50Speaker 13: And Iran is counting on these people to undermine support. Again,
- 39:53Speaker 13: this is nothing new. This happened throughout American history. If
- 39:56Speaker 13: you go back to the Vietnam War, the Vietcong. We're
- 39:58Speaker 13: counting on Moro, on you diversity students to claim that
- 40:01Speaker 13: the real bad guys versus you note the communists who
- 40:04Speaker 13: were murdering hundreds of thousands of people, that the real
- 40:07Speaker 13: bad guys were actually the United States, and that's why
- 40:12Speaker 13: you had them literally chanting in solidarity with Ho Gi
- 40:14Speaker 13: menh same sorts of people now, and they span a
- 40:17Speaker 13: large swath of the left and a large part of
- 40:20Speaker 13: the right now, or at least a significant part of
- 40:22Speaker 13: the online right. I shouldn't say large part of the right,
- 40:23Speaker 13: because again it's not true. But Ryan Grim and Tucker
- 40:27Speaker 13: Carlson are holding hands walking off into their common isolationist,
- 40:31Speaker 13: anti American future together.
- 40:33Speaker 5: That's sweet, It's very sweet.
- 40:34Speaker 3: It does often occur to me that one of the
- 40:36Speaker 3: biggest problems I have with you is you're not sufficiently
- 40:39Speaker 3: supportive of the Vietnam War. Well, I mean you cocked
- 40:44Speaker 3: on Vietnam.
- 40:45Speaker 4: You know what's funny is that just yesterday Secretary of
- 40:48Speaker 4: State Marco Rubio posted a tweet that was laudatory of
- 40:53Speaker 4: the Vietnamese communist government. So like, hey, if Rubio can
- 40:59Speaker 4: recognize that virtues of Ho Chi Minh, you know why
- 41:01Speaker 4: can't university students. In the sixty seventies, also, the Vietnamese
- 41:07Speaker 4: were fighting off an occupying power in their own country. Well,
- 41:12Speaker 4: this they liberated their country from the two occupying powers
- 41:17Speaker 4: French in the United States. Obviously, like, on what planet
- 41:21Speaker 4: is appropriate for us to even be in there?
- 41:25Speaker 5: It wasn't anyway, you need not.
- 41:30Speaker 3: When I saw this clip, I flashed back to this
- 41:32Speaker 3: discussion that we had right before Christmas where we interviewed
- 41:34Speaker 3: each other. One of the questions I asked you, so
- 41:37Speaker 3: grant you love the fourth of July? Do you love America?
- 41:40Speaker 3: And your responded, I can't imagine loving a country.
- 41:43Speaker 5: That's right, do you love a country.
- 41:46Speaker 3: So Ben should go watch that clip if he wants
- 41:48Speaker 3: the full download on grimism.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Ben, even though he read it, seems to have a
- 41:53Speaker 4: reading comprehension problem. I didn't say we targeted a girls school.
- 41:57Speaker 4: I hope we didn't. I said we attacked a girls school.
- 42:00Speaker 4: We did with multiple strikes. There was purple.
- 42:05Speaker 5: Chalk on the sidewalk outside of it.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Like, okay, if if Ben is sure that it was
- 42:11Speaker 4: an accident, I believe that it also is. Completely It
- 42:16Speaker 4: completely shows a reckless disregard for human life to not
- 42:21Speaker 4: have a person look at a satellite image of a
- 42:27Speaker 4: place before you bombit. There are thousands of people in
- 42:31Speaker 4: the Department of Defense we sent you know, we hit
- 42:36Speaker 4: a thousand plus targets Google Maps on Google Earth. If
- 42:41Speaker 4: you scrolled in, it was called an elementary school. So
- 42:45Speaker 4: we have such a reckless disregard for human life that
- 42:48Speaker 4: we didn't even check.
- 42:50Speaker 5: So that's the point.
- 42:50Speaker 4: We attacked the school, and he didn't address all the
- 42:53Speaker 4: other things. The point is a country who does that
- 42:56Speaker 4: is going to be hated by a lot of people.
- 42:58Speaker 5: We did all we did all of those things. I didn't.
- 43:02Speaker 5: I was like, should we even like talk about this?
- 43:05Speaker 4: But then you know this like IDF guy, Yeah, you know,
- 43:08Speaker 4: starting came out, came at us too, and so I
- 43:10Speaker 4: do think it's becoming like an actual kind of political
- 43:15Speaker 4: it is it was event that is bubbling up in
- 43:17Speaker 4: our in our discourse.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Yeah, let's put the next element up on the screen,
- 43:21Speaker 3: because it actually is. I think drop site that's something
- 43:24Speaker 3: that you all have to think about. This is Ititon Fishberger,
- 43:27Speaker 3: former IDF pretty big. If you're not on X, you've
- 43:31Speaker 3: probably never heard of him, but pretty big viral X
- 43:33Speaker 3: account that shares constant pro Israel propaganda. It's long past time,
- 43:39Speaker 3: he wrote yesterday, for congressional and DJ investigations into the
- 43:42Speaker 3: foreign ties of drop site News. Here's what we know.
- 43:45Speaker 3: It has at least two reporters quote reporters on the
- 43:48Speaker 3: ground in Iran who feed the site regime approved disinformation
- 43:51Speaker 3: and propaganda.
- 43:52Speaker 10: Ran.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Why don't we just respond point by point to this.
- 43:55Speaker 3: That's what Fishberger says, is enough to get you investigated
- 43:59Speaker 3: because you're fed propaganda from quote reporters on the ground
- 44:02Speaker 3: in Iran.
- 44:03Speaker 5: We have at least one reporter.
- 44:05Speaker 3: You got that in Gaza sometimes as well.
- 44:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, we have at least one reporter in Iran
- 44:09Speaker 4: who is registered with with the government, as you have
- 44:11Speaker 4: to do if you're doing official if you're doing a.
- 44:15Speaker 5: Journal journalism of above board.
- 44:17Speaker 4: We have other journalists who are not registered, who published
- 44:20Speaker 4: anonymously and they're not doing regime you know, they're not.
- 44:24Speaker 4: None of them are doing regime propaganda. When CNN goes
- 44:28Speaker 4: into Iran, they have.
- 44:29Speaker 5: To register with the government.
- 44:30Speaker 4: Like that's that's that's what you do now, you know,
- 44:36Speaker 4: they don't have the First Amendment and the press freedoms
- 44:38Speaker 4: that we do.
- 44:39Speaker 5: That's that's for sure. But the idea that like, because
- 44:42Speaker 5: you have.
- 44:43Speaker 4: A reporter or reporters on the ground in Iran, you
- 44:45Speaker 4: are foreign funded, That's that's absurd.
- 44:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Yeah, well they also and they mentioned the point about gaza.
- 44:53Speaker 5: Or what else? What else?
- 44:54Speaker 3: Gaza?
- 44:54Speaker 5: What are is other two d and.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Fifty k from sources Open.
- 44:59Speaker 5: Society four We got that grant.
- 45:01Speaker 3: That's true, and you've talked about it on the show again.
- 45:03Speaker 3: By the way, we talked about this a couple of
- 45:05Speaker 3: weeks ago. You were like, no strings attached, that's the condition.
- 45:09Speaker 4: Yeah, And I remember at the time being like if
- 45:11Speaker 4: we take this, people are gonna.
- 45:12Speaker 5: Like make it fun of us. For it.
- 45:15Speaker 4: It's like, but there's no strings attached, and we can
- 45:19Speaker 4: then fund an enormous amount of reporting in Gaza, which
- 45:25Speaker 4: is what it was four Okay, let's do it.
- 45:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Also, you're published by communist billionaire communist Nepo baby Nika
- 45:33Speaker 3: Soon Schung.
- 45:35Speaker 5: She's her title is publisher. Yeah.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Yeah. She doesn't give us money. Her dad doesn't give
- 45:40Speaker 4: us money.
- 45:41Speaker 3: And they are billionaires, right, he's a billionaire. Yeah.
- 45:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:43Speaker 4: He owns the La Times and he owns like several
- 45:48Speaker 4: He created several cancer drugs that have become blockbusters, and
- 45:51Speaker 4: so he's a multi billionaire for having done that. But
- 45:54Speaker 4: he doesn't give money to us, and we've never asked him, and.
- 45:56Speaker 3: We're not gonna drop site frequently flies to the Middle
- 45:59Speaker 3: East to be the leaders of US designated terrorist organizations.
- 46:02Speaker 3: I can't even read that. Sentences are ridiculous.
- 46:06Speaker 4: Do we interview people that the US has designated as terrorists?
- 46:10Speaker 5: Yeah, we do.
- 46:11Speaker 3: That as journalists. One thousand million percent should Yeah, they're
- 46:17Speaker 3: complaining about Sharif folowed a sympathetic dispatch from the funeral
- 46:21Speaker 3: of Hesbala leader Hassan Estralla after he was killed by Israel.
- 46:24Speaker 5: You can you can read. You can read. Go read
- 46:26Speaker 5: the piece, Go.
- 46:26Speaker 3: See how sympathetic it was. Uh, drop said, is fiscally
- 46:30Speaker 3: sponsored by the Social Security Works Education Fund while it
- 46:32Speaker 3: pursues its own five all one C three status, an
- 46:35Speaker 3: arrangement that reduces transparency and allows the outlet to obscure
- 46:38Speaker 3: who its funders are.
- 46:40Speaker 4: Fiscal sponsorship is a normal thing for a new nonprofit.
- 46:44Speaker 5: All nonprofits are.
- 46:46Speaker 4: Nonprofits are not required, even whether they're fiscally sponsored or not,
- 46:49Speaker 4: to disclose like all of the names of all of
- 46:51Speaker 4: their donors.
- 46:52Speaker 5: That's just not a that's just not a.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Thing this is. That was the last point. Well, he
- 46:57Speaker 3: added a bonus that you've tweeted the US as a
- 46:59Speaker 3: rogue tear staying in cancer.
- 47:01Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, come on, we're objectively telling the
- 47:09Speaker 4: truth in that one.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Uh there's I mean, you and I could talk Trump
- 47:16Speaker 3: to annihilated entire civilization. He sure did. He sure did.
- 47:20Speaker 5: Don't.
- 47:21Speaker 3: He's not making my side of that argument any easier
- 47:24Speaker 3: by the day.
- 47:24Speaker 4: But yeah, as I as I tell everybody who comes
- 47:29Speaker 4: at us about our our funding, like you don't have
- 47:32Speaker 4: to subpoena us, Like.
- 47:35Speaker 5: I'll look it up.
- 47:35Speaker 3: I'll look it up.
- 47:36Speaker 5: Right now.
- 47:37Speaker 4: So we have we have two a yeah, there's there's
- 47:43Speaker 4: nine ninety should be public. We have two primary streams
- 47:47Speaker 4: of revenue. One is subscription subscriptions, and the other is
- 47:50Speaker 4: just small donations. And then the third is bigger donors
- 47:55Speaker 4: who give more than like two thousand bucks or so
- 47:59Speaker 4: that that makes up a maybe like ten percent. The
- 48:02Speaker 4: big donors make up about ten percent, and we're grateful
- 48:05Speaker 4: for them, but it's the small donors that make up
- 48:08Speaker 4: the bulk of it. Interestingly, there's not a lot of overlap.
- 48:11Speaker 4: We have about twenty five thousand people who've made small contributions,
- 48:15Speaker 4: and we have, looking at it now, eighteen five hundred
- 48:19Speaker 4: and ninety four paid subscribers.
- 48:21Speaker 3: That's incredible. I mean you're not even two years old.
- 48:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and a subscription is one hundred bucks, so you
- 48:26Speaker 4: can do the math pretty easily on that. But there's
- 48:30Speaker 4: not actually a whole lot of overlap between the subscribers
- 48:32Speaker 4: and the donors. So that means we actually have about
- 48:35Speaker 4: forty to forty five thousand people who have given money
- 48:39Speaker 4: at some point or another total subscribers, you know, paid
- 48:43Speaker 4: and unpaid. Right now, we're at seven hundred and ninety
- 48:46Speaker 4: two hundred and thirty six, and so the bulk of
- 48:50Speaker 4: our revenue is from people who read the site and
- 48:54Speaker 4: then give money to it. Ironically, in the first like hour, oh,
- 49:00Speaker 4: I just asked oar, I had to just ask our
- 49:02Speaker 4: fundraising guy. So since Aton put this tweet up, we
- 49:08Speaker 4: got one hundred and seventy eight donations.
- 49:10Speaker 3: Damn, it's been like what not even a day?
- 49:13Speaker 4: Yeah, less than a day on an average of thirty
- 49:15Speaker 4: seven dollars each, none more than two hundred and fifty dollars,
- 49:19Speaker 4: totally six seven hundred dollars. So Aton, He's like, who
- 49:23Speaker 4: funds these guys?
- 49:25Speaker 5: You do?
- 49:25Speaker 3: You?
- 49:26Speaker 5: Moron?
- 49:27Speaker 4: Like his pensiant for lying has produced in the public
- 49:34Speaker 4: a real demand for people who don't lie. And so
- 49:37Speaker 4: the more lies he tells and the more wars he
- 49:41Speaker 4: encourages Israel to fight and encourages the US to support,
- 49:46Speaker 4: then the more people are going to want to support us.
- 49:49Speaker 4: And I've told him and others, if you want to
- 49:52Speaker 4: gut us, you want to take the legs out from
- 49:54Speaker 4: under us, stop with the wars like we would I
- 49:58Speaker 4: think our I think people would be spending less money
- 50:03Speaker 4: on our reporting if there were fewer wars for US
- 50:05Speaker 4: to report on. Definitely, I would happily take that trade off. Definitely,
- 50:10Speaker 4: try peace for a while and then we'll go cover
- 50:13Speaker 4: other things, corporate abuses.
- 50:15Speaker 5: Whatever, And there's frankly, there's probably less interest in that.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true, but that's true.
- 50:20Speaker 4: I would I would love nothing more than to make
- 50:24Speaker 4: less money and have fewer wars to cover.
- 50:25Speaker 3: And by the way, the reason you mentioned this in
- 50:27Speaker 3: your response to him, like you don't have to snitch
- 50:29Speaker 3: tag ways and means, but.
- 50:32Speaker 5: He's trying to get ways and means committee to like
- 50:33Speaker 5: subpoena us.
- 50:34Speaker 3: I will say, I don't think that's ridiculous from his perspective,
- 50:37Speaker 3: because they are opening investigations and sometimes I think there
- 50:41Speaker 3: are some because of the way Pharaoh works and the
- 50:43Speaker 3: like that are I think somewhat legitimate. Now they're going
- 50:46Speaker 3: to be done on a totally partisan basis, and you
- 50:49Speaker 3: can bet your ass that any Israeli potential nonprofit schemes
- 50:56Speaker 3: aren't going to be folded into these investigations. They're mostly
- 50:59Speaker 3: looking at it this is China and a like that
- 51:02Speaker 3: may have had like nonprofits like Code Pink, for example,
- 51:06Speaker 3: but or ones that have direct Antifa ties and are
- 51:10Speaker 3: getting funding from different places like China, and there's some
- 51:13Speaker 3: interesting stuff actually on the table. Drop site won't. I
- 51:16Speaker 3: don't think drop site will be on the table because
- 51:18Speaker 3: there's so many people on the right that are following
- 51:20Speaker 3: your reporting closely and see the value the value in it.
- 51:23Speaker 5: And also they could just look and be like, oh,
- 51:25Speaker 5: this is where the money comes from.
- 51:27Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, it's like straight up clean American money.
- 51:31Speaker 3: But this is a strategy that is being intentionally deployed
- 51:34Speaker 3: by Republicans right now, who are under immense pressure from
- 51:37Speaker 3: their base to get scalps and stop just chit chatting
- 51:40Speaker 3: about Oh, we're going to go after this person and
- 51:42Speaker 3: this person. They're trying to actually go deep and do
- 51:45Speaker 3: these investigations. They are into groups like code Pink. So
- 51:49Speaker 3: it's not That's why I thought it was important to
- 51:52Speaker 3: talk about because it's not nothing, and I.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Think some of it is earnest on their part. Like
- 51:56Speaker 4: I think this guy in his addled mind is incapable
- 52:02Speaker 4: of conceiving of a news organization that is supported by
- 52:06Speaker 4: its readers and people who want it to exist, rather
- 52:10Speaker 4: than a foreign government that is doing it for propaganda purposes,
- 52:14Speaker 4: Like he can't.
- 52:15Speaker 5: He genuinely can.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Understand that that's possible, because that's not how he or
- 52:21Speaker 4: they operate. Their approach is, we're going to get together
- 52:25Speaker 4: some very rich people and we're going to buy me.
- 52:28Speaker 4: We're going to produce this media property, and we're going
- 52:32Speaker 4: to run it and if it makes the money, great,
- 52:34Speaker 4: if not, Like the purpose is ideological like that, the
- 52:39Speaker 4: idea that you would just do honest reporting and that
- 52:42Speaker 4: people would support it, I think is a foreign concept,
- 52:46Speaker 4: but it's actually a domestic concept.
- 52:48Speaker 5: It's an American concept.
- 52:51Speaker 3: Well, we'll see what happens, but you should be you
- 52:54Speaker 3: should feel pretty good, Ryan, drop Site's fine, Go subscribe
- 52:58Speaker 3: to drop site. Is that by that definition, is the
- 53:02Speaker 3: studio a dual use property? By the way, because here
- 53:05Speaker 3: is this is a civilian studio. It's it's where all
- 53:08Speaker 3: kinds of civilian work gets done, but also it's where
- 53:11Speaker 3: the run in regime does its propaganda via you.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Yes, according to Ben, According to Ben Shapiro, those things
- 53:17Speaker 4: I listed, universities, medical centers are dual use.
- 53:23Speaker 3: I'm afraid right now we're in a dual use.
- 53:24Speaker 5: Look at like.
- 53:25Speaker 4: It is true that schools do produce people who go on,
- 53:30Speaker 4: some of them to become soldiers. Others become scientists, others
- 53:34Speaker 4: work in the nuclear field. So it is true. And
- 53:38Speaker 4: in fact, something like sixty percent of engineers in Iran
- 53:42Speaker 4: are women. So the girls, the one hundred and sixty
- 53:46Speaker 4: five plus girls and then elementary school, you know a
- 53:50Speaker 4: lot of them would have grown up to be engineers.
- 53:52Speaker 4: So according to that, I guess they're logic. It's all
- 53:56Speaker 4: dual use and it's all clean.
- 53:59Speaker 5: Yeah, sick.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Let's move on to Professor Pape. Great day to have
- 54:04Speaker 3: him on the show to react to all the events
- 54:06Speaker 3: in the last twelve hours. So we'll bring him in now.
- 54:11Speaker 4: University of Chicago Professor Robert Pape has been warning that
- 54:15Speaker 4: the United States, Israel, and Iran are trapped in an
- 54:18Speaker 4: escalation trap.
- 54:19Speaker 5: That's also the name of his sub stack.
- 54:21Speaker 4: He'll be having a live briefing over at his subtec
- 54:23Speaker 4: at seven pm tomorrow. Now, with a tenuous ceasefire taking hold,
- 54:30Speaker 4: Professor Pape joins us to walk through how trapped they
- 54:35Speaker 4: still are and what the way out of this is.
- 54:39Speaker 5: Professor Pape, thank you so much for joining us here.
- 54:41Speaker 12: Again, thank you very much for having me, and I
- 54:46Speaker 12: really think we need to understand that, yes, this is
- 54:49Speaker 12: all fragile, but big things are here in front of us.
- 54:53Speaker 12: There's really three issues to discuss. Number one, the trap,
- 54:56Speaker 12: why the trap is not over in fact, maybe even heightening.
- 55:01Speaker 12: Number two, the change in the world balance of power
- 55:04Speaker 12: right in front of us, as evidence by the nature
- 55:07Speaker 12: of the ceasefire agreement itself. And then number three the
- 55:13Speaker 12: statement by Donald Trump, the President the United States, to
- 55:17Speaker 12: end the civilization in Iran. Those that will endure, that's
- 55:23Speaker 12: not going to be forgotten. So the trap, maybe I could.
- 55:26Speaker 4: Just yeah, let's start and let's start with the trap. Yeah,
- 55:29Speaker 4: let's start with the trap. So are they out of
- 55:31Speaker 4: the trap or they? Is the trap not over yet?
- 55:34Speaker 8: Uh?
- 55:34Speaker 12: No, the trap is is is not over? In fact,
- 55:37Speaker 12: we may be coming to an extremely dangerous phase of
- 55:40Speaker 12: the trap. And the reason is this. Number one, US
- 55:44Speaker 12: military forces are poised on a razor's edge in the
- 55:50Speaker 12: region to strike. So we if the trap will start
- 55:55Speaker 12: to unwind when President Trump literally removes all the carrier
- 56:01Speaker 12: battle groups, removes all the fighters, removes the marines, just
- 56:08Speaker 12: literally pulls it back geographically. Number two. Pete Hegseth, Secretary Hegseeth,
- 56:15Speaker 12: just before we came on vocally and publicly said we're
- 56:20Speaker 12: gonna get that enriched uranium. We're gonna get it. Well,
- 56:24Speaker 12: we know that that has been a big part of
- 56:27Speaker 12: this whole issue. Iran has enough enriched uranium for between
- 56:32Speaker 12: ten and sixteen nuclear weapons. They are now maximally incentivized
- 56:39Speaker 12: to have those nuclear weapons. They know if they just
- 56:43Speaker 12: did go into those caves where the drones are and
- 56:46Speaker 12: the missiles are, we can't get we can't stop them
- 56:49Speaker 12: from building those nuclear weapons. And so you can expect
- 56:53Speaker 12: over the next six months or the next year nuclear tests,
- 56:57Speaker 12: not just simply now weapons and sea secret. But this
- 57:01Speaker 12: is going to be incredibly dangerous for this trap because
- 57:07Speaker 12: of course Iran is going to show I think very
- 57:11Speaker 12: little sign they're going to just give up the nuclear
- 57:14Speaker 12: weapons now that Donald Trump has threatened to kill ninety
- 57:18Speaker 12: two million Iranians, and probably all ninety two million will
- 57:23Speaker 12: help build those nuclear weapons, all of them, including the
- 57:26Speaker 12: pro democracy movement.
- 57:27Speaker 3: And you've obviously studied this for a long time. How
- 57:31Speaker 3: viable is it that Iran would be able to reconstitute
- 57:35Speaker 3: its missile supply launchers and even nuclear potentially nuclear weapons
- 57:40Speaker 3: just in the next I mean, we had Midnight Hammer
- 57:43Speaker 3: last June and found ourselves back in the same place
- 57:45Speaker 3: February twenty eighth. So what does the immediate future look
- 57:49Speaker 3: like of Iran's ability to rebuild its military.
- 57:53Speaker 12: Yes, they are building not just dozens, but something like
- 57:58Speaker 12: fifty to one hundred missiles ever every single month. That
- 58:01Speaker 12: is what happened after Midnight Hammer. They went back to rebuilding, reconstituting,
- 58:06Speaker 12: or you could say, reloading their guns, and that has
- 58:11Speaker 12: been happening on a steady basis, and also producing the
- 58:14Speaker 12: drones on a steady basis. In fact, they were still
- 58:18Speaker 12: shipping drones to Russia for Ukraine last fall. So they're
- 58:22Speaker 12: producing them, they're shipping them, they're developing them, and so
- 58:26Speaker 12: this is we will have weakened this sum but the
- 58:33Speaker 12: without the bombs continuing to follow, even that weakness will
- 58:36Speaker 12: will disappear. And Iran is making seventy five to one
- 58:39Speaker 12: hundred billion dollars a year in R and B in
- 58:43Speaker 12: Chinese banks that they will be able to use for
- 58:49Speaker 12: all of these purposes. So they will have the money,
- 58:52Speaker 12: they will have the space, they will have the materials.
- 58:56Speaker 12: And this is why all this destruction of these launchers,
- 59:01Speaker 12: this was just not meaningful. It was always at most
- 59:04Speaker 12: a temporary stop gap, and we will see within a
- 59:07Speaker 12: year this will be bath fast and furious. Because now
- 59:12Speaker 12: keep in mind, before the bombing started on feb twenty eight,
- 59:15Speaker 12: you had something like sixteen or twenty percent of the
- 59:19Speaker 12: population supporting the regime. Now I'm not saying they like
- 59:23Speaker 12: the regime's ideology, but you now have ninety two million people.
- 59:27Speaker 12: Where is their best security coming from? Not from Donald Trump.
- 59:30Speaker 12: He just threatened to murder each and every one of them.
- 59:33Speaker 12: So what are they going to do. They're going to
- 59:36Speaker 12: the vast majority of them are going to help in
- 59:40Speaker 12: these programs because they don't want to die. So this
- 59:44Speaker 12: is really quite an extraordinary set of events that have
- 59:48Speaker 12: been triggered, and the effects of this are going forward
- 59:52Speaker 12: and we will see it. Secretary Headseth he sees right
- 59:56Speaker 12: away that there's been no dis incentive here, and he's
- 59:59Speaker 12: saying we're going to take the material. Well, Aroan, I
- 1:00:03Speaker 12: think is not just going to hand it over. This
- 1:00:05Speaker 12: is how are they going to stop the next nuclear
- 1:00:08Speaker 12: threat by Donald Trump? There's only one way now, which
- 1:00:12Speaker 12: is nuclear weapons, with a nuclear test and probably several
- 1:00:17Speaker 12: nuclear tests to just rub it into America's face. You
- 1:00:21Speaker 12: knew Gus, we're coming back.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: And so you mentioned that Trump saying that tonight a
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: great civilization is going to die, that that is going
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: to leave a permanent or at least a very long
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: term mark on our geopolitics. Can you explain how you
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: mean that?
- 1:00:39Speaker 12: Yeah, So we need to understand that no president in
- 1:00:41Speaker 12: the history of the United States has made a statement
- 1:00:46Speaker 12: threatening to erase, destroy, kill an entire civilization. Point Number one,
- 1:00:54Speaker 12: that is the evidence of genocidal intent that's required in
- 1:00:59Speaker 12: the Geneva to convict for genocide. We need to understand
- 1:01:03Speaker 12: that the genocide accords that we have, they're about the
- 1:01:08Speaker 12: intent to commit genocide. Usually that's the hardest thing to find.
- 1:01:12Speaker 12: It's not the killing of people, it's the intent. Well,
- 1:01:15Speaker 12: President Trump, I don't think there could be a clearer
- 1:01:18Speaker 12: evidence of genocidal intent than you just saw. Number two,
- 1:01:22Speaker 12: President Trump is one of only a handful of people
- 1:01:25Speaker 12: on the planet with enough nuclear weapons that he would
- 1:01:30Speaker 12: be able to actually execute that threat. So with we
- 1:01:35Speaker 12: have five hundred minute men missiles and they have warheads
- 1:01:40Speaker 12: with three hundred thousand kilotons on them. Hirotia Nagasaki was
- 1:01:44Speaker 12: only twelve to twenty two kilotons So these are much
- 1:01:48Speaker 12: much more powerful than Hiroshima Nagasaki. And we have five
- 1:01:52Speaker 12: hundred of them, and within forty five minutes their gyroscopes
- 1:01:55Speaker 12: can be reoriented to Iran. Twenty minutes after that, all
- 1:01:59Speaker 12: that those all of those five hundred can land on Iran.
- 1:02:04Speaker 12: So I'm sorry to be so blunt, but we need
- 1:02:06Speaker 12: to really understand that what Donald Trump has done here
- 1:02:11Speaker 12: is it's immoral. It is very likely, I'm not a lawyer,
- 1:02:15Speaker 12: very likely to contradict the Geneva Accords. But it's also
- 1:02:19Speaker 12: dangerous because now every American is marked here and this
- 1:02:25Speaker 12: will be wherever we travel in the world, about to
- 1:02:29Speaker 12: maybe get on a plane to go to London. Here,
- 1:02:31Speaker 12: this is not trivial. And so what you're seeing is
- 1:02:35Speaker 12: now ninety two million Iranians, not just these tiny number
- 1:02:40Speaker 12: of you know, supreme leaders. They're pretty maximally incentivized to
- 1:02:46Speaker 12: show that there's some payback that can come. So this
- 1:02:50Speaker 12: is really an enormously consequential move by President Trump, and
- 1:02:56Speaker 12: it will do no good that he will somehow maybe
- 1:02:58Speaker 12: take it back or his recupporters to say it's just
- 1:03:01Speaker 12: Trump being Trump. No, I'm sorry, not everybody, not everybody
- 1:03:06Speaker 12: who's a drunk at a bar has their finger on
- 1:03:09Speaker 12: thousands of nuclear weapons that can be delivered within a
- 1:03:12Speaker 12: matter of an hour or less. As I'm explaining in detail,
- 1:03:16Speaker 12: this is way too consequential, and this will have tremendous
- 1:03:21Speaker 12: ripple effects across the world. Our allies, the idea, our
- 1:03:24Speaker 12: allies will in Europe, will let us even run NATO. NATO,
- 1:03:29Speaker 12: we need to understand it is a military organization where
- 1:03:33Speaker 12: when the American general runs the operation of a NATO
- 1:03:37Speaker 12: military operation, it's the American general who controls the nuclear
- 1:03:42Speaker 12: weapons of Britain. Do you think Britain is going to
- 1:03:47Speaker 12: go for that at this point? I mean, Mike, yeah,
- 1:03:49Speaker 12: you can see right away. So the rip, the consequences
- 1:03:54Speaker 12: here are way beyond what's and then in the straight
- 1:03:58Speaker 12: of horror moods the consequence and says there's a new
- 1:04:01Speaker 12: hierarchy of power. Donald Trump just cowtowed to Iran. Essentially
- 1:04:06Speaker 12: there's a new hierarchy, and everybody in the Middle East
- 1:04:09Speaker 12: we'll see that. MBS will Now there's no Donald Trump
- 1:04:12Speaker 12: cavalry coming to save him. So that's Saudi Arabia. So
- 1:04:15Speaker 12: you're seeing these gigantic consequences of What's happened are consequences
- 1:04:22Speaker 12: for all Americans, their consequences for the world balance of power.
- 1:04:27Speaker 12: Iran is becoming the fourth center of world power.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: And I want to steal man this analysis a bit
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: by bringing in the perspective of people who think this
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: is a massive loss for Iran. This is Noah Rothman
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: writing in National Review this morning, saying Iran's central nervous
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: system has been severed, as indicated by the Islamic Republic's
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Field Commander's attacks on golf targets long after the ceasfire
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: was announced. Its command and control, intelligence, and domestic security
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: apparatuses have been severely degraded. Its Navy and Air force
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: are gone. Its air defense network and nuclear weapons program
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: are in ruins, as petrochemical and steel industries have been
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: badly damaged, truncating two major sources of foreign revenue that
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: sustain the Islamic Revolutionary guardcore keep going here at the
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Gulf States are now ensconsdin Washington's orbit. America's adversaries in
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Beijing and Moscow did not much alter the balance in
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: Iran's favorite Tehran's defense industrial base is a smoldering wreck,
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: and it goes on to say its stores of long
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: and short range missiles, drones and the launchers to use
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: them are dramatically depleted. What's your response to that, professor, My.
- 1:05:31Speaker 12: Response is, this is just not on planet Earth. So
- 1:05:35Speaker 12: this is not even just a victory rhetoric and so forth.
- 1:05:38Speaker 12: But we need to understand that what has just happened
- 1:05:43Speaker 12: is Donald Trump has just agreed that, yes, ships can
- 1:05:46Speaker 12: pass through the Strait of horm Moves, but only if
- 1:05:48Speaker 12: the Iranian military gives that permission. And that is enormously
- 1:05:53Speaker 12: consequential here. And if it was the case that all
- 1:05:57Speaker 12: of this was going in the other direction, you would
- 1:05:59Speaker 12: not need any cease fire from Aran, you would not
- 1:06:03Speaker 12: need any deal from Pakistan. The United States would just
- 1:06:07Speaker 12: simply be the power in the region. What's happening is
- 1:06:11Speaker 12: the complete opposite of that, and it's people can just
- 1:06:17Speaker 12: say whatever they want, of course, but nobody's going to
- 1:06:19Speaker 12: pay that any meaningful attention, meaning they won't actually act
- 1:06:23Speaker 12: on that assumption. They're going to act on the realities
- 1:06:27Speaker 12: that have just been demonstrated by war. War is often
- 1:06:31Speaker 12: clarifying for the realities of power. Before war, we have
- 1:06:35Speaker 12: a lot of talk, we have a lot of bolster,
- 1:06:38Speaker 12: We have basically talking smack okay, But once you get
- 1:06:42Speaker 12: into war, the realities start to actually take shape. And
- 1:06:46Speaker 12: what you're seeing here is that the reality is that
- 1:06:50Speaker 12: before the war, President Trump and the United States was
- 1:06:53Speaker 12: guaranteeing safe passage through the Straits of Hormuze. Effectively, it
- 1:06:57Speaker 12: had military bases in the region to protect the Golf
- 1:07:00Speaker 12: States from being attacked and smashed. During the war itself,
- 1:07:04Speaker 12: none of that was protecting the Golf States, none of
- 1:07:07Speaker 12: it was moving their oil. And the only thing that
- 1:07:10Speaker 12: is actually now protecting the Golf States is Iran deciding
- 1:07:14Speaker 12: not to attack. So if you want your country protected,
- 1:07:18Speaker 12: who are you going to go to the United States
- 1:07:21Speaker 12: or are you going to go to Iran? Right now,
- 1:07:23Speaker 12: it's pretty clear you've got to go to Iran. And yes,
- 1:07:27Speaker 12: maybe you've got to hope Iran will not attack you,
- 1:07:31Speaker 12: because if Iran decides to attack you, there's nothing the
- 1:07:34Speaker 12: United States going to do to protect you. This is
- 1:07:37Speaker 12: power politics of the first order. The balance of power
- 1:07:42Speaker 12: in the world and in the region is changing. In
- 1:07:46Speaker 12: the region, it is now Iran at the top of
- 1:07:48Speaker 12: the hierarchy, not the United States. In the world, Iran
- 1:07:52Speaker 12: is becoming the fourth center of world powers, not yet
- 1:07:57Speaker 12: as powerful as the United States, I'm not trying to say,
- 1:07:59Speaker 12: and it's a merging as the fourth center as well.
- 1:08:03Speaker 12: Once they actually acquire the nuclear weapons and do the test,
- 1:08:06Speaker 12: which I'm saying is likely in six months or a year,
- 1:08:09Speaker 12: how would you stop it? At this point without ground
- 1:08:12Speaker 12: conquering all over on, it will become unmistakably the fourth
- 1:08:17Speaker 12: power center in the world. So I'm not quite saying
- 1:08:19Speaker 12: they're there yet, but they are emerging in all of
- 1:08:23Speaker 12: the ways that we will credit this here. Going forward,
- 1:08:27Speaker 12: this debate on what's happening will become clarified because the
- 1:08:31Speaker 12: war is clarifying power.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: And to be clear, your point is that the only
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: way to stop them from within six months to a
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: year acquiring the nucle acquiring the nuclear weapons, reconstituting is
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: boots on the ground.
- 1:08:44Speaker 12: Yes, but it's not just a few boots on the ground.
- 1:08:47Speaker 12: This isn't going to stop with ten or twenty thousand Americans,
- 1:08:51Speaker 12: And even if we devoted all one point two million
- 1:08:57Speaker 12: troops here, this would not be enough. So this is
- 1:09:00Speaker 12: this was a dilemma. This is why it was an
- 1:09:03Speaker 12: escalation trap. We don't have these hidden secret options if
- 1:09:09Speaker 12: only we would use them. And then you saw what
- 1:09:12Speaker 12: was the hidden secret option, nuclear destruction of every living
- 1:09:16Speaker 12: person in Iran. That's where Donald Trump had to go
- 1:09:20Speaker 12: because he doesn't have all these other weapons, that all
- 1:09:24Speaker 12: these other success strategies here, and you see what that
- 1:09:27Speaker 12: has brought. So what you are facing, we're facing here
- 1:09:31Speaker 12: is a true escalation trap. And the off ramp to
- 1:09:36Speaker 12: stage three, which is the ground war, is Iran's world power.
- 1:09:41Speaker 12: That's what I've been explaining on my sub stack is
- 1:09:45Speaker 12: there is a branch here and either it's Iran as
- 1:09:48Speaker 12: a new emerging world power or it's the ground war.
- 1:09:52Speaker 12: And you can see these are the real tensions. Literally,
- 1:09:56Speaker 12: the ceasefire has clarified what I've been saying on myself
- 1:10:00Speaker 12: stack just literally in the last week and the and
- 1:10:02Speaker 12: the briefings, et cetera.
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: And so how does israel strategic calculus factor in here?
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: When as they went into the war, this you know
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: straight was open. Iran was isolated and sanctioned. If you
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: listen to Israeli leader Bennettya who privately he was saying
- 1:10:19Speaker 4: there many years away from a nuclear weapon. Now the
- 1:10:25Speaker 4: you know, they're not not isolated as you said, they're
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: you know, regional and growing power. Sanctions are currently off
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: basically and are likely to come off as a result
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: of these negotiations permanently. And you know, I think it's
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: it's debatable whether or not they can secretly race for
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: a bomb like but let's let's let's I think stipulate
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: that they're more likely. They're they're in a better position,
- 1:10:50Speaker 4: and people inside Iran are now And this is the
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: thing people don't understand. Before the war, the people in
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: power in the Iranian government were opposed to seeking a
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: nuclear weapon for both ideological and political reasons. Those people
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: were killed, and people who support seeking a nuclear weapon
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: are empowered, not that they are empowered completely, but they
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: have been empowered. Their faction has been empowered. So how
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: did Israel respond to this? Because the US is its
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: own power center, but Israel has its own interests that
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: sometimes are aligned with the United States and sometimes are distinct.
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: So how do you see them moving forward in this
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: new arrangement.
- 1:11:35Speaker 12: So we need to understand that before the war forty
- 1:11:38Speaker 12: days ago, there was a balance of power in the region,
- 1:11:42Speaker 12: and if anything, Israel was the emerging hedgemond with the
- 1:11:47Speaker 12: hierarchy with the Abraham Accords counterbalancing against Iran. Iran, as
- 1:11:53Speaker 12: you said, the Supreme Leader, but the one we killed
- 1:11:56Speaker 12: didn't really want the nuclear weapons. He had fought was
- 1:11:58Speaker 12: against it. But now you're seeing this shift where even Israel,
- 1:12:03Speaker 12: so Israel was the only country in the region with
- 1:12:05Speaker 12: nuclear weapons. Well, now what you're going to get is
- 1:12:08Speaker 12: you're getting this shift, and as I'm saying, you're you've
- 1:12:12Speaker 12: maximally incentivized not just the regime but all ninety two
- 1:12:15Speaker 12: million Iranians for nuclear weapons here and so it's it's
- 1:12:20Speaker 12: it's extremely likely, maybe over ninety percent likely, maybe not
- 1:12:25Speaker 12: one hundred that they will have that nuclear capability. And
- 1:12:28Speaker 12: what that's going to do is it's going to put
- 1:12:30Speaker 12: Israel down on the hierarchy. Now Israel remains seven million Jews,
- 1:12:36Speaker 12: it is surrounded by five hundred million Muslims. As that
- 1:12:40Speaker 12: hierarchy shifts, this is going to be a dramatic shift
- 1:12:45Speaker 12: against Israel in the region. And so you're going to
- 1:12:48Speaker 12: you are going to end up with Israel. You know
- 1:12:51Speaker 12: has often said, well they all hate us anyway, Well, yes,
- 1:12:54Speaker 12: but only a few hundred thousand at most were ever
- 1:12:57Speaker 12: mobilized to attack Israel. You could now have a much
- 1:13:01Speaker 12: larger pool mobilized. And it's because again go back to
- 1:13:05Speaker 12: President Trump's nuclear threat. These these these threats are clearly
- 1:13:10Speaker 12: explaining that for the West and possibly Israel, they're glad
- 1:13:16Speaker 12: to kill them all. This is not going to work
- 1:13:18Speaker 12: to Israel's security. It's going to go in the opposite direction,
- 1:13:23Speaker 12: and their nuclear weapons here will not provide that much
- 1:13:27Speaker 12: security because what it's going to do is even if
- 1:13:30Speaker 12: they use the nuclear weapon, it will only further incentivize
- 1:13:34Speaker 12: not just Iran, but every state in the region to
- 1:13:38Speaker 12: want a nuclear weapon.
- 1:13:40Speaker 10: Uh.
- 1:13:40Speaker 12: Here, We're moving to a world that is going to
- 1:13:43Speaker 12: be dramatically worse for Israel's security. This is one of
- 1:13:47Speaker 12: the things I've been trying to explain, uh to the Israelis.
- 1:13:51Speaker 12: This is this, this strategy is not just about well,
- 1:13:54Speaker 12: we just have to do this for our security, No,
- 1:13:57Speaker 12: it's their own. This is self defeating where their security.
- 1:14:01Speaker 12: And I think this will also start to become manifest
- 1:14:04Speaker 12: within just a year or two. I don't think you'll
- 1:14:07Speaker 12: have to wait five or ten years. This will come
- 1:14:10Speaker 12: pretty quickly because of the change and the balance of power.
- 1:14:13Speaker 12: And there are only seven million Jews. Unless they're going
- 1:14:16Speaker 12: to be a rush of another ten million Jews to
- 1:14:19Speaker 12: go live in Israel. Now, imagine that you're probably going
- 1:14:22Speaker 12: to lose seven of the Jews in Israel. You're going
- 1:14:25Speaker 12: to lose more than you're going to gain in the
- 1:14:27Speaker 12: next year. And it's precisely because of the growing insecurity
- 1:14:32Speaker 12: of Israel.
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: And can you respond to the claim that the response
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: from the response from Moscow and Beijing proves that Iran
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Tehran is increasingly isolated and didn't have its allies rallying
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: around it. What do you I mean? Donald Trump posted
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: this morning that anybody who supplies weapons to Iran is
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: going to be sanctioned. So potentially, I suppose that could
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: include China. Can he sanction China to the extent or
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: Iran can't rebuild? What do you make of the international
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: response for US?
- 1:15:04Speaker 12: All Iran is building its own weapons. So Iran was
- 1:15:08Speaker 12: an exporter of drones to Russia, not the other way around.
- 1:15:11Speaker 12: So we need to really understand here. Iran is not Granada.
- 1:15:16Speaker 12: Iran is not a small state. It's not even Venezuela.
- 1:15:20Speaker 12: I mean, Iran is already a major country here. This
- 1:15:27Speaker 12: is already it was over one percent of world GDP.
- 1:15:30Speaker 12: Now it may be growing that Russia is only two
- 1:15:33Speaker 12: percent of world GDP. We need to put this in
- 1:15:36Speaker 12: some perspective here. So Iran doesn't really need the weapons.
- 1:15:41Speaker 12: It will make the weapons themselves. What it will benefit
- 1:15:45Speaker 12: from is probably the trade and the oil and all
- 1:15:48Speaker 12: the money there. And also there may be growing technology
- 1:15:52Speaker 12: transfers here, say, between China, which has a lot of
- 1:15:56Speaker 12: AI and Iran, and this will be one of the
- 1:16:00Speaker 12: things that I would imagine could easily happen in the future. So,
- 1:16:03Speaker 12: as I explained to the New York Times piece, there
- 1:16:06Speaker 12: are if with with Iran is the fourth center of
- 1:16:08Speaker 12: world power. You have the United States. But Russia and
- 1:16:12Speaker 12: China and Iran are not at each other's odds. They're
- 1:16:16Speaker 12: against the United States. You don't need a formal NATO
- 1:16:19Speaker 12: among Russia, China and Iran. They've just structurally incentivized to
- 1:16:24Speaker 12: cooperate in a myriad number of ways, all of which
- 1:16:28Speaker 12: lowering America's power in the world. And this Trump is
- 1:16:33Speaker 12: just trying to, you know, do a magician's trick, sleight
- 1:16:36Speaker 12: of hand. Nothing to see here, We're all good. Well, no,
- 1:16:41Speaker 12: the realities here are coming for all to see. And
- 1:16:46Speaker 12: this will just simply be powerful over time, and it
- 1:16:50Speaker 12: will also work to President Trump's domestic political detriment here
- 1:16:56Speaker 12: and probably in the very near future. I mean, this
- 1:16:58Speaker 12: is you're now asked looking all those congress people who
- 1:17:02Speaker 12: are running for office to hook their wagon in the
- 1:17:05Speaker 12: midterms to somebody who's threatened. The genocidal destruction of an
- 1:17:10Speaker 12: entire civilization led to the rise of Iran as a
- 1:17:14Speaker 12: fourth center of world power. So yes, there may be
- 1:17:18Speaker 12: you know, twenty percent here that will or twenty five
- 1:17:21Speaker 12: that will stick and ride and die with Trump. But
- 1:17:25Speaker 12: the bottom line is they're not going to be very mad.
- 1:17:28Speaker 12: Every politician will know this is a really, really bad
- 1:17:33Speaker 12: horse to be hooked to, and I think you're going
- 1:17:37Speaker 12: to see the GOP itself is going to have some
- 1:17:39Speaker 12: real question. It's not the Democrats. The Democrats are going
- 1:17:41Speaker 12: to want to keep Trump around for political reasons, maybe
- 1:17:45Speaker 12: not for security reasons, so that's where I would draw
- 1:17:47Speaker 12: the line. But politically Trump is like the perfect thing
- 1:17:51Speaker 12: to keep around for the Democrats. It's the GOP who's
- 1:17:54Speaker 12: going to have the biggest problems here.
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: I want to get your reaction to this new quote
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: from Donald Trump, which I think you're going to appreciate.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: As Jonathan carl He says, I ask President Trump if
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: he's okay with the Iranians charging a toll for all
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: ships that go through the Strait of Hormuz. He told
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: me there may be a joint US Iran venture to
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: charge tolls. Quote, we're thinking of doing it as a
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: joint venture. It's a way of securing it also securing
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: it from lots of other people. It's a beautiful thing.
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: What do you make of that?
- 1:18:25Speaker 12: Well, again, another statement not on planet Earth. And by
- 1:18:28Speaker 12: the way, there is some jointness to the tolls. It's
- 1:18:31Speaker 12: just emerged Iran has agreed to share some of it
- 1:18:35Speaker 12: with Oman. Why would they do that. Iran is becoming
- 1:18:39Speaker 12: the dominant power in the region. They can dole out
- 1:18:44Speaker 12: some goodies here to get everybody in line with the
- 1:18:48Speaker 12: new hierarchy. I don't see everybody cottoning up to Donald
- 1:18:51Speaker 12: Trump to do it that way. So again, this is
- 1:18:54Speaker 12: just more evidence that it's just not on planet Earth.
- 1:18:57Speaker 12: So you will get statements and they can say what
- 1:18:59Speaker 12: they but the countries are going to go for their security.
- 1:19:04Speaker 12: The idea that they are going to give up their
- 1:19:07Speaker 12: their security and their wealth to somehow, you know, give
- 1:19:12Speaker 12: Donald Trump a photo op. I think this is not happening.
- 1:19:16Speaker 12: I think this is just way too consequential. What has
- 1:19:19Speaker 12: occurred and will occur. It's not over and will occur.
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: Also, I was just curious, so if people haven't read
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: it yet, they got to go go read your piece
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: that you had in the New York Times. It was
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: about Iran emerging as a new power. That was a
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: point that you made here last week on the show.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: I was curious, when did the Times reach out to
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: you and say, hey, saw you on breaking points.
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: I'm telling it.
- 1:19:42Speaker 12: You guys have been the best in terms of allowing
- 1:19:46Speaker 12: me to come on and also space to really explain,
- 1:19:49Speaker 12: and you know we're doing it regularly. You got it first.
- 1:19:53Speaker 12: I actually started that piece several weeks ago. People kept
- 1:19:57Speaker 12: asking me what was the longer term future sure, and
- 1:20:00Speaker 12: I wouldn't really I didn't want to let it tell
- 1:20:03Speaker 12: them yet because we're still going through the middle parts
- 1:20:05Speaker 12: of the Stage one, Stage two, Stage three. But then
- 1:20:08Speaker 12: when I came on with you, I had the piece
- 1:20:10Speaker 12: ready to go, and before I sent it to The
- 1:20:13Speaker 12: New York Times, I decided I'm gonna do so I
- 1:20:16Speaker 12: didn't announce all that on your show and say, oh
- 1:20:19Speaker 12: you know there's no that's no just professor paper to
- 1:20:23Speaker 12: give you the first exclusive scoop okay, And I didn't,
- 1:20:28Speaker 12: And and it was really quite a pleasure. It was
- 1:20:30Speaker 12: like an inside pleasure for me because I really appreciate
- 1:20:34Speaker 12: the relationship here and how much this has really I
- 1:20:37Speaker 12: think I get so many emails, by the way, the
- 1:20:40Speaker 12: breaking point, the things for breaking points are just the
- 1:20:42Speaker 12: dominant thing in my inbox. And so it's really just
- 1:20:46Speaker 12: been a pleasure. And and so uh no I I'm
- 1:20:50Speaker 12: the one who's pushed it forward. Uh here, but they
- 1:20:53Speaker 12: could see right away that that was and it's got
- 1:20:56Speaker 12: like an enormous number of reactions and comments here and
- 1:20:59Speaker 12: so forth and so on on there on theirs and
- 1:21:02Speaker 12: and this is and now you're seeing that just in
- 1:21:05Speaker 12: a few days after I published the piece, clear evidence
- 1:21:08Speaker 12: that Iran is in the catbird seat, as I was saying,
- 1:21:12Speaker 12: and we need to understand, they don't just have money
- 1:21:15Speaker 12: and they're not just talking about ships. This is power
- 1:21:18Speaker 12: politics of the first order that is changing, and you're
- 1:21:22Speaker 12: seeing evidence of it right now, which is Donald Trump
- 1:21:25Speaker 12: is essentially having to give you know, sort of fantasy
- 1:21:29Speaker 12: posts here that nobody I'm not even sure he does,
- 1:21:32Speaker 12: he even believe who knows, But this is that far
- 1:21:35Speaker 12: removed from reality on his side.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: And I think with our audience, for most people to
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: actually undermines their credibility if they appear in the New
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: York Times. But I think in your case, we're allow
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: an exception.
- 1:21:46Speaker 12: So well, look, I am just pleased an honor to
- 1:21:50Speaker 12: be able to do this, and I definitely take your point.
- 1:21:55Speaker 12: I'll be careful that I don't get sucked into uh
- 1:22:00Speaker 12: into the legacy.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: Back speaking of shifting the well, Robert Pavis a professor
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: at the University of Chicago. He is doing more live streams.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: Go check out his sub stack, The Escalation Trap. Follow
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: him on social media. Thank you so much for your time,
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: Professor Paper.
- 1:22:20Speaker 12: Absolutely we'll see you so okay, bye bye.
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: All right, Well, emmy, that was a much happier show
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: than the one I did yesterday with Sagar.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: Amazing what twenty four hours can do.
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: Civilization stands for now. We live for another day, for
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: another day.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: But when you hear Professor Pape outlining the central.
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: Future, it's going to be ugly.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: Which we appreciate. By the way, everyone can also see
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: this with their own You don't have to be a
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: professor at the University of Chicago to see you with
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: your own eyes. What happened between midnight Hammer and what
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: are we calling this? Epic fury?
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: Epstein Fury?
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: Oh and yes, to answer your question, the Epstein Files
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: reporting will resume now that we're moving on from this.
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: Trump thinks he put an end to it. No, no, no,
- 1:23:03Speaker 5: it's just on hold.
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: Well, we'll obviously be here throughout the day in case
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: there are any major updates. So obviously stay tuned and
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: Ryan and I will be back Friday. If you want
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: to get the second half of the Friday.

- 1:23:27Speaker 3: It helps us so much. We appreciate all of you
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: for making this possible. As we just discussed with Professor Pape,
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: it does really matter to have independent media out in
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: front covering this in the way that legacy media will not.
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: Yes, I think if you followed all this through us,
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: you were better informed than anywhere else.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: I agree with that, and I think the record is
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: pretty defensible on that point. So appreciate you all. I
