- 7:41that some years ago I did the morning show with the Island News and the
- 7:45great Bobby Nystrom, and we playing Hockey Yard Morning Long on television, and
- 7:53one of the other teammates showed up named Nick Vocona, named Dick Nick Vacous,
- 7:58Let me show you Bill how much on the hockey is And he smiled,
- 8:01and he had no frontier. He loved being a New York Islander.
- 8:07John's the co owner of those Islanders and a long time animal lover John t
- 8:13when was love. All right, all right, let's get everybody's attention here.
- 8:26Let's shoot the pot. Ladies in the back, may be your attention
- 8:33just one minute. I'm John the Day, a corner of the New York
- 8:37Islanders. The Islanders are very proud to be honored tonight. We're very excited
- 8:41about our association with his great organization. I want to thank Matt Meeker from
- 8:48Bark, who's the other honoring Matt started a business because he wanted to take
- 8:56better care of his dog, Hugo, and he didn't feel there was that
- 9:00opportunity in the marketplace. And Matt has taken his company from zero in sales
- 9:05less than ten years ago to a public company doing over six hundred million dollars
- 9:09in sales taking care of dogs. So when he comes up here and give
- 9:13him his full attention, I want to also recognize Kathleen Rice, former congresswoman
- 9:20who wrote the Pause Act of twenty twenty one, which matched dogs with PTSD
- 9:26victims events. Thanking Kathleen for doing that in the Congress. It's so damn
- 9:30hard to get a bill pass. You got a pass, thank you.
- 9:35So in the program it'll tell you that my life changed because I had a
- 9:39dog. I moved to a new town and I was walking the dog my
- 9:43first day in the town and a woman rolled up in a station wagon and
- 9:46said, are you new in town? And I thought, how would she
- 9:50know that I was my first day in town. She said, well,
- 9:54I know every basset hound in town, and I've never seen your dog.
- 9:58Give me your name and number and I'll be in touch. And that woman
- 10:03was Isabel Malcolin, who introduced me to my longest friend in the world fifty
- 10:07years Scott Malkin, who is the co owner with me now with the New
- 10:09York Islanders. So your life can challenge because of a dog. What do
- 10:16we do with the Islanders for dogs? We have the Guide Dog Foundation,
- 10:20which matches and brows puppies with a purpose. We take a puppy each year,
- 10:26we name it after an Islander's great and they end up being on the
- 10:28Tonay Show when they're handed off to a worthy blind person veteran people who need
- 10:33a guide dog. And we're very, very proud of our association with that
- 10:37great organization. We also do a Pucks and Pause calendar. I hope all
- 10:43of you will buy it. It raises close to one hundred thousand dollars a
- 10:46year for animal shelters throughout the Long Island area, and we also work with
- 10:52the North Shore Animal League, where the Islanders players and their wives help nor
- 10:58Shore Animal League. I want to thank you for this award. I want
- 11:01to thank people who turned out. I have a bunch of tables. Thank
- 11:03you for making time out of your incredible schedules to be here. We sold

- 11:39a great evening. Thank you, Bell. I'm comany behind Bark Bucks.
- 11:48Matt Meeker. There's nothing to wisen to fight this guys, Thank you,
- 12:01Thank you, what a tough act to follow. And John Ladaki hun Wow,
- 12:05thank you John, thank you for all the support. Thank you to
- 12:09everyone here for inviting us and having us here. I think John said a
- 12:16lot of things that are very true, and we seem to be true that
- 12:20for me, especially a dog, one dog changed my entire life by Doc
- 12:26Hugo who meant the world to me and started BARK, and that allowed us
- 12:31to change and hopefully make lives happier for millions of dogs and their people to
- 12:37come closer together. That's our mission at BARK is to make all dogs happy.
- 12:43It's not just the dogs that can afford our products or that our customers,
- 12:48but all dogs. So every dog that we sell him, the dog
- 12:50breed everyone that passed us through your wonderful organization here, we care about all
- 12:56of them. So I think in that way, all of us the shared
- 13:00mission of making all dogs happy. I hope we get to play a little
- 13:03part in that and support that as we go forward. And and I'm personally
- 13:11touched by the what do I call it the mission or the work that your
- 13:18organization does. I happen to live in Naples, Florida, so if we
- 13:22go back ten months ago, we had Hurricane Ian blow through Naples, Florida,
- 13:33devastating time for us, and my wife and I went. We went
- 13:37and volunteered at the local Humane society there. There were during that time they
- 13:43had fifty dogs in residents who needed homes, and a lot of those dogs
- 13:50were brought north to cities like New York, Chicago, Southampton, Fountain Homes
- 13:56with out of the forty, out of the fifty dogs that were there,
- 13:58forty right have been found homes and one of them was left behind. Garrett
- 14:05and so Gary found our homes and in the nine but since then, Gary,
- 14:09we're gonna run out of juice. Sit Southampton. I don't know a rescue foundation
