- Christian Williams: Hello everybody. it is exciting to be with you here today. whether it is morning, noon, or night for you. my name is Christian Williams. for those who don't know who I am. this is for a very specific crowd of people, so I hope you know who I am. but if not, right now, sitting in my office. I'm the student pastor of First Baptist Social Circle, students and families. and it's a joint and honor. And I've been getting a lot of requests for some sort of podcast or online or or video related resource to give to parents, volunteers and students. And so I'm hoping that this resource will be a help and a joy to you. that if you do desire to listen to it, that it will just be a benefit. and if not, well hey you don't have to listen to it. So there we go. but hopefully it is something that you know you'll be able to tune into and enjoy. and so this episode I guess this conversation this coffee break is kind of what I'm calling it. is just gonna be a brief introductory to, hey, this is what we're doing. this is what it's gonna look like, this is what's gonna happen as we move forward. just so that you have an idea. and I think the first couple may be just audio only. I'm still trying to figure out some of the video stuff. I have some equipment here, just to make it as streamlined and clear and clean as possible. And so we're gonna be Just hey, I'm I'm learning doing a little bit of video editing and just gonna send some stuff out for you guys, YouTube s hopefully Spotify, maybe definitely Apple Podcasts. just some different ways you guys can listen and and and check in. but yeah, just wanted to briefly share with you just some of the goals of this just conversation platform, this podcast, YouTube, whatever wherever you guys are listening. yeah, this this podcast aims to provide parents, students and volunteers with regular audio and visual updates and information about all things Bible and and theology and and just everyday life. rather than covering these topics separately, I hope to show how they connect and and point to Jesus, right? That we do not just have Bible over here and theology over here and everyday life over there, but all these things are just Woven together. They are not separate things making one thing, but they are just a part of one thing, right? You can't have one without the other. All of these things affect one another. And they all connect ultimately to Jesus, right? We're looking to Jesus, the author and perfective of our faith, who made disciples to think, live, and love like him, right? That to the glory of the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit, we may be disciples who make disciples. each week, I'll break down. the previous Wednesday nights sermon. So Wednesday nights right now we're going through Galatians and then ending with Ephesians and then next semester we'll be jumping in to some more exciting stuff and and so either the Thursday or Friday after I'll be releasing these episodes so that we can just do a quick fifteen twenty minute discussion. We'll explore, hey, this is the biblical text we worked through. This was the main point of the sermon. these are the division statements. so that you one, you as parents can just know exactly what we're working through. and then you as volunteers and students can just have a quick reference back. Hey, I just need a quick reminder, a refresher if you're looking through your notes or just need to know, hey, the w what again were those things that we worked through, or or hey, I missed that note. you can go back and write it down or or just be refreshed. or you can listen to it, right? If we have, you know, Galatians one through Well graduation five, one through fifteen and we're doing six through twenty-four next week, right? Maybe even the Tuesday before the next week or maybe the next Wednesday, you can just quickly listen to the podcast and be like, Okay, this is what we talked about last week and and how it builds, right? I I want this to be a tool so we know one, how you as parents can have a conversation alongside your students, knowing exactly what they're learning, and then continue that refresher so that everyone involved knows exactly what's going on. and there can be conversation, especially for you as parents and then especially you as volunteers and students, right? Just all working together. and our goal is to keep you as parents informed about what your students have been learning and and give volunteers and students a helpful refresher of the material covered Wednesday night or or Sunday nights or whatever's going on. just so that you guys just have that at hand. from time to time we will also welcome guests and And share special episodes focused on theology, apologetics, and ministry. these conversations are intended to help you understand these subjects more clearly and engage with them more confidently so that you can serve others through discipleship and evangelism, right? Some of these things you know you might not bring up in the middle of a conversation, but they will inform you. Let let's say you're having a conversation with an atheist or an agnostic or or Mormon, or a Jehovah's Witness, right? Or A skeptic, someone who maybe used to be in the church and and there are some things that they struggled with and some some items where they were like un unsure, right? This is for you to be able to engage in those conversations and have the confidence and the language to be able to instill joy and peace, right? not trying to convince them, right? Trusting the Lord in their heart but helping them see that there is clear logical and reasonable evidence, and there's beauty and truth in the God that we serve, in the gospel that we preach and believe, and that when we give an invitation, when we when we call people to repentance, that we're actually not calling them from something, but we're actually calling them to something. Right? They don't just get to go to heaven when they die because they, you know, prayed a prayer, but rather those who believe, right? Confess with their hearts that Christ is raised from the dead. Man, that they don't just get to be saved in the sense of like they don't go to hell, but they get to enjoy eternal life with their heavenly father. They are not saved necessarily just from something, which is true, but also to something. and not just to go to a place, but to be with a good heavenly father forever. So hopefully that this will be helpful for that. And ultimately I pray that this podcast will be a meaningful and beneficial resource. My hope is that you as parents will be equipped to guide your students as they move from childhood to adulthood. I hope that volunteers, you as my leader volunteers will be better prepared to support parents and students through major transitions in life, but also be encouraged and cared for amid the busyness and challenges of your own life. I know that you guys aren't doing this thing full time like I am and you guys are sacrificing and so I just want to say one, thank you. And two, I I hope that this is just a small encouragement. and if there's any way Rachel and I can walk alongside you, please let me know. and then ultimately for you as as students, right? You are one of the biggest reasons why I have a job for one and and why I do what I do that where you guys where you are in your life, whether middle school or high school, you're in a major transition. and for me, some of the biggest moments of my life, both good but also difficult, happened when I was in middle school and high school. And through the love and the joy and the teaching of youth pastors over the years, as well as adult volunteers in different ways, God used them in a mighty way. And that's why I'm doing what I'm doing, because of those men and women who who came and loved on me well. I'm hoping that you will also be loved, whether it's from me and Rachel or one of the adult volunteers, that you will be equipped, encouraged, and challenged in your walk with Christ. And as you grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and relationally, my prayers that you may also become increasingly Grounded in Christ, growing spiritually. And that you may think, live, and love like Jesus, so that you may make disciples by showing them how to think, live, and love like Him. I hope that you guys are encouraged. I'm excited to see how this goes. If there are any requests for for the special episodes, I I can send out just kind of a survey, see what are some of the most desired conversations. whatever they may be, send all of that may be helpful to you as parents or you as volunteers or you as students. Please let me know. and yeah, again, my prayer is that you are encouraged and you are challenged, so that to the glory of the Father, through the Son, by the Spirit, we may be disciples who make disciples of all nations, teaching them to think, live, and love like Jesus. All right. See y'all later.
