- 0:02Speaker 2: Thanks to crave-worthy street food.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Welcome to the Hodaki Big Show. Really big.
- 0:12Speaker 4: With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Welcome to the Hodaki Big Show. Oh, g'day, you mad bastard.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It's great to have your company on this glorious Monday afternoon.
- 0:22Speaker 3: It is the 14th of September, 2026, and you, my friends,
- 0:26Speaker 3: as always, listening to The Big Show, brought to you
- 0:28Speaker 3: by Reburg Air.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Beef, chicken, vegan, and vegetarian options available. Reburg Air are
- 0:33Speaker 4: redefining the norm.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Scrumptiously. Speaking of which, Mogi, you stallion, you stud, you
- 0:40Speaker 3: Greek god, how's life?
- 0:41Speaker 1: Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:44Speaker 1: a bee, you weird bastard. What a weekend it was, fellas.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Wow, yeah.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Oh, God. You know, I had a few beers in me.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Had a good hangout with a whole bunch of mates. Look,
- 0:53Speaker 1: some sporting results didn't go our way. Are we going
- 0:55Speaker 1: to dwell on that? Are we going to complain about that?
- 0:57Speaker 3: I don't think so, Nick.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Are we going to start thinking that our whole season
- 0:59Speaker 1: has gone off the rails and it's all going to
- 1:01Speaker 1: turn to shit? Right when we need it to go well, Keezy.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Is that what we're going to do, man? Well, I
- 1:05Speaker 1: kind of was thinking that, but I can change if
- 1:08Speaker 1: you want.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Yeah, change, man. Come on. What sort of wah supporter
- 1:11Speaker 3: are you, Keezy?
- 1:12Speaker 1: A pretty experienced one. I don't know.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Come on, man.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Nah, let's change.
- 1:15Speaker 4: A positive, baby.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I'm good, fellas.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Thanks for asking.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Great weekend. But happy to be here.
- 1:27Speaker 3: With you guys. There he is.
- 1:28Speaker 1: How are you, Jase?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I'm fizzed up, fellas. I'm fired up, as
- 1:33Speaker 3: Mogi said. A few sporting occasions that didn't go our way,
- 1:37Speaker 3: but I'm not letting that get me down, because spring
- 1:40Speaker 3: has sprung.
- 1:44Speaker 1: When did it sprung?
- 1:45Speaker 3: A couple of days ago there, Mogi. Really?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 1:49Speaker 4: It's going to start pissing down soon, you know that.
- 1:50Speaker 3: And I tell you what I'm really fizzed up about,
- 1:53Speaker 3: the show today.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Oh, my God. What's happening on The Big Show with
- 2:00Speaker 1: Old Moby? Another opportunity to get yourself into the draw
- 2:04Speaker 1: for Would You Rather We Are We, giving you the
- 2:07Speaker 1: choice between winning a trip to Bathurst for two or
- 2:10Speaker 1: a trip to the grand final in Sydney. Which one
- 2:12Speaker 1: will you choose? Listen to that for the cue to
- 2:14Speaker 1: call and have your opportunity there, fellas. Also, Keezy, this week, man,
- 2:19Speaker 1: marks the start of our countdown to your come down
- 2:23Speaker 1: with the fellas. Yeah, it's my turn, fellas. Come down
- 2:25Speaker 1: with me. I'll be announcing my theme today. That's right.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Just after five. Bloody exciting. And in world first news,
- 2:32Speaker 1: here in Auckland, and I know everyone else around the
- 2:34Speaker 1: country will be interested, we've opened the very first subterranean
- 2:39Speaker 1: city rail link train station. It's trains. They go underneath
- 2:44Speaker 1: the ground. Never been done. World first. We'll be talking
- 2:47Speaker 1: about that next. Never happened before, Keezy.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Unbelievable.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It's extraordinary. That's Kiwi number eight wire innovation, brother. Get
- 2:52Speaker 1: your head around that.
- 2:54Speaker 3: It's just hard to believe, isn't it? Actually, something under
- 2:56Speaker 3: the ground.
- 2:57Speaker 1: That's just phenomenal.
- 2:59Speaker 3: But in the meantime, here's Pearl Jam.
- 3:02Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Green day there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 3:09Speaker 3: Monday afternoon. The time is 15 minutes past 4 o'clock.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And a bit of a historic weekend in Auckland City, fellas,
- 3:16Speaker 3: with the opening of various new train stations in the
- 3:19Speaker 3: inner city. Exciting stuff. And I know, Mogi, it's a
- 3:23Speaker 3: big deal for you. You love your trains. You've got
- 3:25Speaker 3: your little set up there at home, your little train
- 3:28Speaker 3: tracks there.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Train set.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah, a little train set. We call it a train set.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Conductor Mogi.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:34Speaker 3: But a very significant event.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Oh, well, it's been in the works for many, many years, Jase.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Hundreds.
- 3:41Speaker 1: And, you know, it's just a proud day, I think.
- 3:43Speaker 1: And you don't have to be into trains as I
- 3:45Speaker 1: am to feel a sense of pride that you were
- 3:48Speaker 1: born in New Zealand. Yeah, man. That you're a Kiwi
- 3:51Speaker 1: through and through, Keezy. It's a hell of a day. And,
- 3:54Speaker 1: of course, I've been following it really, really closely since
- 3:59Speaker 1: You know, to be the first nation in the world
- 4:01Speaker 1: to have a train that actually goes underneath the ground.
- 4:05Speaker 3: It's mind-blowing.
- 4:07Speaker 4: When you say that.
- 4:08Speaker 3: It's mind-blowing.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Because otherwise, you know, as a city grows, Keezy, and
- 4:13Speaker 1: you won't know this, man, but as a city grows
- 4:15Speaker 1: over hundreds and hundreds of years, Auckland's now 473 years old.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So you imagine what Auckland was like 473 years ago
- 4:23Speaker 1: and what it is today. There's been growth, massive growth.
- 4:25Speaker 1: There were no high-rises 400 years ago. Just single story.
- 4:29Speaker 1: And so they would have thought to themselves, well, we've
- 4:32Speaker 1: got to keep running these trains, but in order to
- 4:34Speaker 1: do so, we're going to have to knock over public buildings,
- 4:36Speaker 1: private houses, high-rises, all sorts of things. No, now. And
- 4:41Speaker 1: so they think, well, I can't do that. It's too hard.
- 4:43Speaker 1: We have to pay people out. Too difficult. What about
- 4:45Speaker 1: if we go under the ground?
- 4:46Speaker 3: Yeah, genius.
- 4:47Speaker 4: The other option is like a monorail above the ground
- 4:49Speaker 4: on a big sort of, you know, track.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a bicycle, isn't it?
- 4:52Speaker 3: They did actually, because I was talking to Wayne Brown
- 4:54Speaker 3: last week, they did actually consider that for a while.
- 4:57Speaker 1: A monorail.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Well, more sort of a cable sort of car set up.
- 5:01Speaker 1: A gondola.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Yeah, like gondolas, but they couldn't find the right cable.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 3: So they canned that.
- 5:06Speaker 4: That's what made them can that.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. But listen, geez, it was hard last week, fellas,
- 5:12Speaker 3: got to be honest with you. keeping it under my belt.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I got a call from Wayne Brown, mayor of Auckland
- 5:18Speaker 3: City there.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Now, most people, they keep it under their hat, but, Jase,
- 5:21Speaker 1: you weren't wearing one that day, were you? So you
- 5:22Speaker 1: had to keep it under your belt.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I had to keep it under my belt, yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Isn't it just a saying? Like, it's not a physical
- 5:27Speaker 4: thing you have to keep anywhere, is it?
- 5:28Speaker 3: Because I was itching, you know, and I got a
- 5:30Speaker 3: call from Wayne midweek, and asking me if I'd open
- 5:35Speaker 3: the Pitt Street station.
- 5:37Speaker 1: How good, eh?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Karanga a hape.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Um.
- 5:41Speaker 3: And I was like, I thought initially it was a
- 5:44Speaker 3: piss take.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Sounds like a piss take. He was serious.
- 5:47Speaker 3: And he was serious. And I said, you know, he said, wow,
- 5:49Speaker 3: you know, you're a local now. You're a bit of
- 5:51Speaker 3: a celeb, local legend. How do you feel about cutting
- 5:54Speaker 3: the tape? And I went, yeah, well, the cutting the
- 5:56Speaker 3: ribbon there. And I said, yeah, look, it would be
- 5:57Speaker 3: a great honour.
- 5:59Speaker 1: What was interesting about it, Keezy, was Wayne insisted that
- 6:02Speaker 1: Jase wear the pigeon outfit from Brokenwood Mysteries that he
- 6:05Speaker 1: wears there. Yeah. The full-size pigeon outfit.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Talk about admin getting that bloody organised.
- 6:10Speaker 4: It seems like a really niche thing.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Well, what you don't really know about Pitt Street, there's
- 6:16Speaker 3: a lot of pigeons around there.
- 6:17Speaker 1: And Wayne is a huge fan of Brokenwood.
- 6:18Speaker 3: And he loves a pigeon, yeah, and Brokenwood.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:21Speaker 3: But it was a great honour. I was really nervous, actually.
- 6:24Speaker 3: It was really weird.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 3: And then I went to cut the ribbon. I was
- 6:28Speaker 3: hacking away there. Bloody thing wouldn't cut. But I realised
- 6:31Speaker 3: as though they were new scissors.
- 6:32Speaker 5: Right.
- 6:32Speaker 3: They hadn't taken the plastic off the blades.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Oh.
- 6:35Speaker 3: And so I was just bloody.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Right.
- 6:36Speaker 3: In the end, I just had to bite through it. Yeah.
- 6:38Speaker 1: And just sort of rip it apart. That's why the
- 6:40Speaker 1: first train was delayed.
- 6:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Well, it took me about 25 minutes.
- 6:44Speaker 4: To get through the ribbon.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Yes. Bloody tough ribbon, Keezy.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Ryan, you were dressed as a pigeon.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Yes.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Far out, wasn't it?
- 6:50Speaker 3: Because you've got to remember, too, I was dressed as
- 6:52Speaker 3: a pigeon trying to cut through the ribbon. But I
- 6:54Speaker 3: had a massive beak on me. That was getting in
- 6:58Speaker 3: the way. But anyway, I digress.
- 7:01Speaker 4: It is amazing. I didn't realize that New Zealand was
- 7:03Speaker 4: the first place to have an underground.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 4: Because I thought, you know, the London Underground. Yeah. Isn't
- 7:11Speaker 4: that the same thing, but old?
- 7:13Speaker 1: No, that's just the name of it. It's just called
- 7:15Speaker 1: the Underground. Oh, so it's not actually underground. No, not
- 7:18Speaker 1: at all.
- 7:19Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 7:19Speaker 1: No, no, no. You can't rely on the English to
- 7:21Speaker 1: come up with any inventions like this, Keezy.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 7:23Speaker 4: So we're the first in the world.
- 7:24Speaker 1: The first in the world. Far, that's amazing.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yeah, really amazing.
- 7:27Speaker 4: And at one point, it's 42 metres deep under the city,
- 7:30Speaker 4: which is amazing.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Yes, that is unbelievable, isn't it? That's about 14 storeys
- 7:34Speaker 1: or something like that. We're going to come back and
- 7:35Speaker 1: have a little bit of a chat about that. But
- 7:36Speaker 1: let us know if you've been on the City Rail link.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Text us on 3483, is that right?
- 7:42Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I can't believe I just pulled that out
- 7:44Speaker 1: of nowhere. Good for you. Well, give us a call
- 7:46Speaker 1: on 0800 Hauraki and tell us how you're feeling about
- 7:48Speaker 1: this new city railway, especially if you live in Dunedin.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Yeah. Totally. Canterbury, anywhere around there. In the meantime, here's
- 7:55Speaker 3: Butthole Surfers.
- 8:00Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:03Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Food Fighters there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 8:09Speaker 3: Monday afternoon. The time is 4.28 and we're talking trains.
- 8:15Speaker 3: A lot of new stations opening up in the inner
- 8:17Speaker 3: city of the Auckland CBD there. Great excitement around the place,
- 8:22Speaker 3: not just in Auckland, across the entire country, fellas.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Do you think it is across the entire country?
- 8:27Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 8:28Speaker 1: People really get behind it, Keezy, and they might not
- 8:30Speaker 1: like Auckland, but everybody loves a train.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Agreed.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Everybody loves a train, and the fact that this is
- 8:35Speaker 1: the first subterranean train line in the history of the
- 8:38Speaker 1: world makes it something special for.
- 8:39Speaker 3: All of us.
- 8:39Speaker 1: It's so unbelievable.
- 8:40Speaker 4: It's amazing.
- 8:41Speaker 3: It's so typically Kiwi, though. We're known for our innovation.
- 8:46Speaker 1: We are.
- 8:47Speaker 3: And apparently it all came about because one of the
- 8:49Speaker 3: engineers was standing there and they were trying to plot
- 8:51Speaker 3: out where to put it, and he went, what about it?
- 8:55Speaker 3: What about underground?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Yeah. That's right.
- 8:57Speaker 4: And then they all lifted him up on their shoulders
- 8:59Speaker 4: and celebrated like the old El Paso.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Great idea.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 4: But a really exciting stat is that at one point,
- 9:07Speaker 4: the city rail link goes 42 metres beneath the city. Wow.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 4: And so with that in mind.
- 9:11Speaker 1: And the thing is, Keezy, it doesn't even need to
- 9:14Speaker 1: go that deep. They just do it. They just did
- 9:15Speaker 1: it because they could. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. So with that
- 9:18Speaker 1: in mind, we've invented a new game.
- 9:20Speaker 3: What else is 42 metres? What the fellas?
- 9:28Speaker 1: They're just getting better and better, aren't they?
- 9:30Speaker 4: I mean, that reeks to me of pugs being asked
- 9:33Speaker 4: to make a sting with about five minutes spare.
- 9:36Speaker 1: But what else is 42 metres, fellas?
- 9:38Speaker 4: It's a fun new game. Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Do you want to start us off? Yeah. Well, as
- 9:43Speaker 1: we said, you know, 14 stories, that's a great way
- 9:45Speaker 1: to measure it. This one here, 93 human femurs. End
- 9:49Speaker 1: to end. Oh, which is the bone in your leg?
- 9:52Speaker 1: The bone that goes from your hip down to your knee.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Not how many of them? 93 human femurs.
- 9:57Speaker 3: There'd probably be about 180. Hoity J ones.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Probably.
- 10:01Speaker 3: A very small femur.
- 10:03Speaker 4: I've been looking up other amazing things in history that
- 10:06Speaker 4: are 42 metres.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Yep.
- 10:09Speaker 4: The car park of the Sydney Opera House.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Wow.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Car park of the Sydney Opera House.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Goes 42 metres below the ground.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Below the ground?
- 10:17Speaker 5: Really?
- 10:18Speaker 1: Same thing, yeah, but it's a car park.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Wow.
- 10:19Speaker 1: 10,500 tic-tacs. End to end. End to end. That's lengthways, Jase.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Not width. So that really puts it in perspective. Well,
- 10:29Speaker 1: it's mind-boggling, isn't it? 1,050 little boys. You know those
- 10:37Speaker 1: little Cheerio sausages? Oh, so not human boys. Not human boys. No, no, no.
- 10:41Speaker 1: That would be a weird measurement.
- 10:44Speaker 3: No, no.
- 10:44Speaker 1: 1,050 cocktail sausages.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you're right.
- 10:47Speaker 3: That's much, yeah. 1,400 chicken nuggies.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Is that real?
- 10:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Totes, man.
- 10:56Speaker 1: End-to-end or like stacked?
- 10:58Speaker 3: End-to-end.
- 10:59Speaker 4: This is an interesting fact. The Titanic.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Yes.
- 11:05Speaker 4: The height from Kiel to the top of the funnels
- 11:08Speaker 4: is around 53 metres. Well, that's completely different. Yeah, it's
- 11:11Speaker 4: 11 metres.
- 11:11Speaker 3: It's 10 metres out. Sorry. Way out of whack.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Sorry, it's really hard to find stuff.
- 11:17Speaker 1: That's... 84, 84 now. Possums, nose to anus. Or I
- 11:25Speaker 1: guess you could go nose to nose, but it just
- 11:27Speaker 1: would mean that it would be anus to anus. So
- 11:29Speaker 1: it's not like the tails aren't... The tails don't count.
- 11:33Speaker 4: No, no.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Because the tail length varies so much.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Yeah, they're superfluous.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Yeah, right, okay.
- 11:37Speaker 3: It's just the anus and the.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Oh, this is an interesting one. One 42 metre long tapeworm.
- 11:47Speaker 1: That is interesting.
- 11:49Speaker 4: Are you guys excited to ride it?
- 11:52Speaker 3: Pardon?
- 11:52Speaker 1: Pardon?
- 11:53Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 11:57Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Big there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this glorious
- 12:03Speaker 3: Monday afternoon. The time is 20 minutes to 5 o'clock. Obviously,
- 12:07Speaker 3: over the weekend, fellas, a huge match. Huge expectations. The
- 12:13Speaker 3: Waas v. The Dolphins for the first final match, first
- 12:17Speaker 3: semi-match there. And the nation was on, was holding its breath.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Let me put it that way. Now, to dissect this
- 12:25Speaker 3: particular match, we needed a professional, a rugby league legend.
- 12:29Speaker 3: And with that in mind, we've got Charlie Gubb and Gubby, Gubby, Gubby, Gubby.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It wasn't to be, mate.
- 12:38Speaker 5: Fellas, let's unpack it. It wasn't to be, but it
- 12:43Speaker 5: honestly still doesn't feel real that we lost that one.
- 12:45Speaker 5: I thought we were just physically dominated, you know, for
- 12:50Speaker 5: 60 minutes, but we didn't score enough points, which sounds obvious,
- 12:56Speaker 5: but I think in hindsight, we can put it down
- 12:59Speaker 5: to continuously taking the two points.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 13:02Speaker 5: I think it's all right to go from, you know,
- 13:05Speaker 5: um to go two points ahead or to go eight
- 13:08Speaker 5: points ahead but um i think looking back versus team
- 13:12Speaker 5: versus dolphins you can't just leave off two points on
- 13:15Speaker 5: five different occasions from um in front of the post.
- 13:18Speaker 1: That's right mate i'd agree with you there indeed um
- 13:21Speaker 1: i was having a chat about it earlier on with
- 13:23Speaker 1: keezy i think we we've got the most points across
- 13:26Speaker 1: the season averaging about 30 and i think the dolphins
- 13:28Speaker 1: average about 24 25 or something like that and going
- 13:31Speaker 1: up with by two points at a time, it just
- 13:33Speaker 1: sort of told me that the Whas were nervous and
- 13:37Speaker 1: you would never have found them doing that in any
- 13:39Speaker 1: other game across the year. And I think if they
- 13:41Speaker 1: could do it all over again, that would be the
- 13:43Speaker 1: obvious place to start.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Yeah, I reckon if you asked them pre-game, they wouldn't
- 13:47Speaker 5: do it either. But, you know, when those points were
- 13:49Speaker 5: just presented to them, like it was almost like dolphins
- 13:52Speaker 5: were giving it to them, you know, and then licking
- 13:54Speaker 5: their lips when the Whas were taking it. Yeah. They
- 13:56Speaker 5: get a one-minute break and then they get to kick
- 13:58Speaker 5: the ball back down your end. And Dolphins were always
- 14:02Speaker 5: going to score a couple of long-range tries. But, man,
- 14:05Speaker 5: it hurts looking back because we were very dominant through
- 14:08Speaker 5: the middle. We just lacked a lot of polish. We
- 14:11Speaker 5: didn't build any pressure on their goal line because of that,
- 14:13Speaker 5: because we were taking the two points. And then even
- 14:17Speaker 5: Little Bits, we defended with 11 players for a while.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:21Speaker 5: And I think, you know, Big Laban got super fatigued.
- 14:24Speaker 3: He was gassed.
- 14:25Speaker 5: He was gassed, but like he was doing multiple people's
- 14:29Speaker 5: work and then he got put into the middle, which
- 14:32Speaker 5: I think if they had their time again, they'd probably
- 14:33Speaker 5: give him a rest because that was when they scored
- 14:36Speaker 5: their long range try. You know, Ali Lautawa didn't push
- 14:39Speaker 5: up with him. And then the hammer took him on
- 14:42Speaker 5: the outside and went the whole way.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. Absolutely did him there. And the other
- 14:46Speaker 1: thing with the labour was you had Jackson Ford who
- 14:48Speaker 1: was gone for the rest of the game. And then,
- 14:50Speaker 1: you know, you're losing that rotation, aren't you? You are.
- 14:55Speaker 5: It was just like a lot of things went wrong,
- 14:57Speaker 5: you know, but the effort was all there. I mean,
- 15:00Speaker 5: I'm definitely gutted for them, but it just means we've
- 15:02Speaker 5: got to take the scene that we're at now. We
- 15:04Speaker 5: can hopefully sell out Eden Park, get the Knights over
- 15:07Speaker 5: here whose left edge is super dangerous as well. But
- 15:11Speaker 5: they're not much trouble without Saifidi through the middle.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Yeah, true that. Charlie, g'day. Keezy here, man. Hope you're well.
- 15:20Speaker 5: I'm well, Keezy.
- 15:20Speaker 4: I'm going to be honest, man. I need you to
- 15:22Speaker 4: pick me up a bit, man, just because I'm feeling
- 15:24Speaker 4: quite down buzz.
- 15:25Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 15:26Speaker 5: Bro, I feel down buzz too. I think it's natural,
- 15:28Speaker 5: you know, but we got to get back up because
- 15:31Speaker 5: those are our guys. We didn't come this whole year,
- 15:34Speaker 5: you know, calling each other so we can spit the dummy,
- 15:37Speaker 5: you know, when things don't go our way.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Totally right, Gabby.
- 15:40Speaker 5: We just got to get back up, brother.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Okay, I'll stop dropping lip there.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Yeah, come on, man.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Just muna up. All right, fair enough. Well, as you say,
- 15:48Speaker 4: looking ahead to the nights, Eden Park, man, as you say,
- 15:51Speaker 4: if we could sell out You know, the premier stadium
- 15:54Speaker 4: in New Zealand where rugby union is usually played. Get
- 15:57Speaker 4: everyone there absolutely hissing. Do you expect the Waz to
- 16:00Speaker 4: come out and really bounce back? And, you know, like
- 16:04Speaker 4: one of the things I've been good at is adjusting
- 16:06Speaker 4: to things. And do you expect them to bounce back
- 16:09Speaker 4: and adjust this coming weekend?
- 16:11Speaker 5: I definitely think they will this weekend. Like, you know,
- 16:15Speaker 5: we've been the top team all year. Like we dropped...
- 16:18Speaker 5: We should have beaten the Dolphins. We played better than
- 16:21Speaker 5: most of the game. We just did not come away
- 16:23Speaker 5: with points. I think it just comes down to decision-making
- 16:25Speaker 5: and a bit of execution. Our wingers never really got
- 16:28Speaker 5: good ball. It was just a little bit sloppy. But
- 16:30Speaker 5: Dolphins didn't look super dangerous versus us. We just had
- 16:34Speaker 5: a couple of minor lapses, and that let them back
- 16:37Speaker 5: in the game and come down to those small moments.
- 16:38Speaker 5: So I think we'll beat the Knights. But obviously, it's
- 16:41Speaker 5: a lot harder now. We've just played a tough game.
- 16:44Speaker 5: We're going to play a tough game versus the Knights,
- 16:46Speaker 5: and then we're going to have to travel to Sydney...
- 16:48Speaker 5: and play the Panthers who are coming off a week off.
- 16:51Speaker 5: But anything is possible over this Warriors team.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean, just on that, I mean, Sean
- 16:55Speaker 3: Johnson was talking about the stuff you fellas were talking about,
- 16:59Speaker 3: you know, having another team under pressure, you know, dominating
- 17:03Speaker 3: all that time. And if you don't score points, that
- 17:06Speaker 3: has a psychological effect on you. You know what I mean?
- 17:08Speaker 3: It's like a double-edged sword. It's like we've been pumping
- 17:11Speaker 3: these guys and yet we're only four points ahead. What's
- 17:14Speaker 3: that about?
- 17:16Speaker 5: Exactly brothers that psychological warfare that torture good.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Point jace uh hey thanks fellas hey charlie.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Before before we let you go man um obviously porter
- 17:28Speaker 4: king the company you run down there in wellington which
- 17:30Speaker 4: is the nation's premier portalo supplier every week they sponsor
- 17:35Speaker 4: unofficially yeah the porter king player of the of the
- 17:38Speaker 4: round man who are you putting forward this week.
- 17:42Speaker 5: I'm going to give it to Fisher Harris. I thought
- 17:44Speaker 5: he was huge. And I think he's going to be
- 17:46Speaker 5: the reason that we're going to get back up. You know,
- 17:48Speaker 5: his standards ain't going to drop. He's going to get
- 17:50Speaker 5: everyone up around him.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Awesome, fellas.
- 17:52Speaker 5: It's been really good wrapping this one up, talking actual footy.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Yeah, man. Yeah, totally, man. I love it. I love it.
- 17:58Speaker 4: No silly buggers. We'll see you next week, Charlie. Up
- 18:01Speaker 4: the waz.
- 18:02Speaker 5: Up the waz, brother. Let's pack out the cake tin.
- 18:05Speaker 5: What do they call it up there?
- 18:07Speaker 1: You know, the cake tin. Yeah, cake tin.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Yeah, cake tin. Something like that, man.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Landon Park.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Man, let's go. Good on you, Gubby. Take care.
- 18:13Speaker 1: See you, mate.
- 18:14Speaker 3: See you, mate.
- 18:16Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Yes, indeed.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Push, push there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 18:24Speaker 3: Monday afternoon. The time is 4.53. Let's talk TV. What's
- 18:30Speaker 3: on the telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah! That's right.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Hey, yesterday, fellas, I was feeling a bit under the weather.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I thought I might have caught that flu that's been
- 18:42Speaker 1: going around. Right, yeah. But I feel much better today.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Oh, thank God.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And I think I'll be even better tomorrow. So anyway,
- 18:48Speaker 1: as a result, I was just lying on the couch.
- 18:50Speaker 1: And I've been watching the new season of Alone. This
- 18:54Speaker 1: one's in the Arctic Circle, Keezy. And they have some
- 18:56Speaker 1: of the best survivalists from all around the world come
- 18:59Speaker 1: together in the Arctic Circle and battle it out. Only
- 19:01Speaker 1: they battle it out alone and against nature. What's really
- 19:05Speaker 1: cool about it is they've got a whole bunch of
- 19:07Speaker 1: beers and shit. Yeah.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Is this the one that sapped me?
- 19:11Speaker 1: And who what?
- 19:12Speaker 3: Sapped me.
- 19:13Speaker 1: No, no, it's not. Someone, they haven't given it a name,
- 19:16Speaker 1: just said it's the Arctic Circle. But beers and all
- 19:19Speaker 1: sorts of... Like live beers, not drinky beers. Yeah, no. God,
- 19:22Speaker 1: can you imagine that? A whole bunch of beers sitting
- 19:24Speaker 1: there waiting for you. But no, black beers and brown beers,
- 19:27Speaker 1: all sorts of beers. So you could literally be killed.
- 19:30Speaker 1: It's not just cold. It's like Tasmania. You can literally
- 19:32Speaker 1: be killed. So interesting stuff. You get to take X
- 19:35Speaker 1: amount of things along with you. One of the guys
- 19:37Speaker 1: was an American fella, an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling.
- 19:41Speaker 1: A real punisher, you know, a lovely guy, but just gruelling,
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know, be hard work down at the pub, that
- 19:46Speaker 1: sort of a guy.
- 19:46Speaker 5: Yes.
- 19:47Speaker 1: But what I loved about him was he was very
- 19:49Speaker 1: aware in himself. that he was he needed to be
- 19:51Speaker 1: careful because he has a habit of leaving shit lying
- 19:53Speaker 1: around oh he's a mogi he is and i was
- 19:56Speaker 1: thinking i said to my wife i was like oh
- 19:57Speaker 1: my god i never thought about that element of it
- 20:00Speaker 1: what would it be like for me to be over
- 20:01Speaker 1: there i'd lose everything all the time.
- 20:03Speaker 4: So yeah, you brought all your survival stuff and it's like,
- 20:06Speaker 4: hang on, where's my hatchet?
- 20:06Speaker 1: Oh, where did I put that?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Where did I put that?
- 20:08Speaker 1: And so anyway, he had this thing that starts fires.
- 20:11Speaker 1: It's like a flint. Yeah. And he tied it to
- 20:15Speaker 1: his belt because he was like, if I lose this,
- 20:17Speaker 1: I know I'm in deep trouble and I know what
- 20:19Speaker 1: I'm like, so that's what I'm going to do. Then
- 20:22Speaker 1: he cooks a fire and he's having a little feast
- 20:23Speaker 1: there and while he's sitting there, this flint that is
- 20:26Speaker 1: on the rope is sitting in the fire. So he
- 20:30Speaker 1: completely burns through it. It ruins this thing. Completely buggers it,
- 20:34Speaker 1: and that's him done. He can't start fires. So he's like,
- 20:38Speaker 1: I don't know what to do. I don't know how
- 20:39Speaker 1: to start a dry fire. I don't know how to
- 20:42Speaker 1: do that. And he's just, and he'd been talking so
- 20:45Speaker 1: much smack, represent America, we're the best.
- 20:47Speaker 3: In the world.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I don't know what that's got to do with it,
- 20:49Speaker 1: but anyway. And so that was him done and dusted.
- 20:52Speaker 1: He was gone. That is so funny. That was great.
- 20:54Speaker 1: It was so funny. I loved it.
- 20:56Speaker 3: I loved it, too, because he was talking smack. Why
- 20:59Speaker 3: would you talk smack? And he was even going so
- 21:02Speaker 3: fast to say, you know, I know a lot of
- 21:03Speaker 3: the young fellas here, they'll be seeing things on YouTube
- 21:06Speaker 3: and how to do it on YouTube. It's different out
- 21:09Speaker 3: in the real world. And then he burnt his flint,
- 21:14Speaker 3: and then he didn't know how to make fire. So
- 21:15Speaker 3: he's like, ah. I'm out of here.
- 21:19Speaker 1: It was really, really good. It's on TVNZ +. I'm
- 21:24Speaker 1: over the moon to have discovered this show. It's such
- 21:26Speaker 1: a treat where you find something that's like, oh, there's
- 21:27Speaker 1: all of these seasons that you get to watch now.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I absolutely love it. It's four and a half buzzies.
- 21:33Speaker 1: It's just brilliant.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Because my wife loves stuff like that.
- 21:36Speaker 3: It's really good.
- 21:37Speaker 4: But I try to limit my reality TV watching.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Well, I don't watch any. I don't watch any reality TV.
- 21:44Speaker 1: But the reason this is good is because it's not
- 21:46Speaker 1: like even Survivor where... You know, people are talking behind
- 21:49Speaker 1: each other's back and there's all that sort of stuff
- 21:51Speaker 1: going on and whatever. This is just literally, if you
- 21:54Speaker 1: bugger this up, you're dead.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 1: And these guys, there's a kid off from Hokitika there.
- 21:58Speaker 1: He's 24 years old. Yeah. 24 years old this guy is. Yeah,
- 22:02Speaker 1: it's fantastic.
- 22:04Speaker 3: And they just drop him in the Arctic Circle. That's right.
- 22:07Speaker 3: And he's loving it. Yeah, he loves it.
- 22:09Speaker 1: He's never been happier.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Well, funnily enough, I was watching alone yesterday the final
- 22:15Speaker 3: when they were in Sapney, which I think is in Finland.
- 22:18Speaker 1: And this one is brutal because all they can really
- 22:20Speaker 1: eat is.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Because they can't hunt anything. So they can only eat
- 22:32Speaker 3: fish and mushrooms and berries, pretty much. That's all the
- 22:36Speaker 3: food there is. And there's all these reindeer walking around.
- 22:39Speaker 3: And you've got dudes starving to death going, like literally
- 22:43Speaker 3: 20 metres from them going, oh.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Are they allowed to?
- 22:45Speaker 3: No, they're not allowed to hunt the reindeer. So they
- 22:47Speaker 3: just go, oh, God, I'm so hungry. But there was one,
- 22:51Speaker 3: I've got to say this, because this guy's a backbone.
- 22:53Speaker 3: He was a young fella. Yeah. Hadn't eaten for 23
- 22:56Speaker 3: days anything other than berries and mushrooms.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:00Speaker 3: He catches a fish and he's like, oh, thank God.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Thank God. Oh, I need protein. And he wheels it
- 23:08Speaker 3: in and it's a brown trout. But they have to
- 23:11Speaker 3: be 50 centimetres long. And this is like 30 or
- 23:15Speaker 3: 40 centimetres. And he's like, oh, no.
- 23:18Speaker 1: No.
- 23:20Speaker 3: And he lets it go. And you just go, oh,
- 23:23Speaker 3: you poor, poor bastard. It's great stuff.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to have to watch this now. Yeah,
- 23:28Speaker 1: you do.
- 23:29Speaker 3: It's a great show.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Start with the one in Tasmania.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Yes.
- 23:31Speaker 1: It's brilliant. Okay.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Coming up after five, actually, sticking with TV, the announcement
- 23:36Speaker 4: for the theme for Keezy's Come.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Dine With Me, which is happening this weekend.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 23:40Speaker 4: I'm up next, fellas. Bloody excited.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Very much looking forward to this.
- 23:46Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 23:49Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Monday.
- 23:55Speaker 3: You are listening to The Big Show, by the way,
- 23:57Speaker 3: brought to you by Reburger.
- 23:59Speaker 4: Craveworthy street food freshly made by Reburger.
- 24:02Speaker 3: Reburger.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 24:06Speaker 3: There's something really nice you mentioned just before, Mogi. You know,
- 24:08Speaker 3: you had a good night on Saturday night.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I did.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Going into the Sunday morn. Yep. There is something about
- 24:16Speaker 3: the abandonment of a Sunday, isn't there?
- 24:19Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? Lying on the couch there,
- 24:21Speaker 3: your hand down your trackies, just, you know, farting away.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Eating food, watching TV, just not doing anything.
- 24:30Speaker 1: 100%. That's you, that's you, Don. You're just waiting for
- 24:33Speaker 1: the evening to roll around so you can go back
- 24:35Speaker 1: to bed. Yeah, yeah, totally. Only if you don't have
- 24:37Speaker 1: any responsibilities.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:39Speaker 4: You know, if you've got a clear runway to be
- 24:41Speaker 4: a sack.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, but if you've got stuff to do,
- 24:43Speaker 1: then it can be hell. And now and again, Keezy,
- 24:45Speaker 1: that's the thing, mate. You can't do it every weekend, mate,
- 24:47Speaker 1: and that's what you forget, I think. Yeah, yeah. Who, me? No,
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm chill, man.
- 24:51Speaker 4: Now, did I do that yesterday?
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yes, I did. Did you? Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Your wife is just an absolute saint.
- 24:59Speaker 1: She is, thank you.
- 25:00Speaker 3: She's a backbone, man.
- 25:01Speaker 1: She is, thank you.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Old Keezy there, just on the couch, ripping ass.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Actually, no, that's not true at all. We spent a
- 25:08Speaker 4: large portion of yesterday doing preparations for this weekend's Come
- 25:12Speaker 4: Dine With Me.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Did you really? Oh, did you?
- 25:13Speaker 2: Wow.
- 25:14Speaker 1: That must have been difficult with the hangover, was it?
- 25:17Speaker 4: What I said to her was, tell you what, let's
- 25:19Speaker 4: rip and do it after lunch.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Did she make you some sammies again?
- 25:23Speaker 4: No, no, I had a big old bowl of noodles
- 25:25Speaker 4: for lunch, spicy noodles, and I was ready to go.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Right, okay.
- 25:29Speaker 4: But hey, speaking of come down with me, this weekend
- 25:31Speaker 4: it's my turn to host you guys. We've had Mogi's,
- 25:33Speaker 4: we've had Jace's. It's now Keezy's turn. Today I'll be
- 25:36Speaker 4: announcing the theme.
- 25:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:38Speaker 4: And then later in the week I'll tell you the menu. Okay,
- 25:40Speaker 4: very exciting. We'll get pugs in for it as well.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff, mate.
- 25:43Speaker 4: I'm fired up, fellas.
- 25:44Speaker 3: In the meantime, here's Kings of Leon.
- 25:48Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 25:52Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Yes, indeed, Sheehard there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show
- 25:58Speaker 3: this Monday afternoon. The time is 5.16. Let's talk Come
- 26:02Speaker 3: Dine with the Fellas.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Come Dine with.
- 26:08Speaker 3: The Fellas.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. We have had two Come Dine With
- 26:12Speaker 4: Me specials. Mogi was first a couple of months ago.
- 26:15Speaker 4: Hosted the fellas there. Made an entree, a main, a dessert,
- 26:19Speaker 4: and a form of entertainment. Hosted us all at his house.
- 26:21Speaker 4: We then scored him. Hoity J, you were the last one.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:25Speaker 4: You did a late winter Christmas.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 26:27Speaker 4: I should say it was hot pot mogis was the theme.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yeah, hot pot mogi.
- 26:30Speaker 4: You did a late winter Christmas there. Once again, entree, main, dessert,
- 26:34Speaker 4: bit of entertainment as well. Did Secret Santa. It was
- 26:36Speaker 4: very entertaining. It's my turn, fellas, and this thing is huge.
- 26:41Speaker 1: It's huge.
- 26:42Speaker 4: It's a lot of work, and after seeing what you
- 26:44Speaker 4: guys have done, it really has put the pressure on. So, oh,
- 26:48Speaker 4: by the way, Pugsan's here.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Ooh, it's Pugsan. G'day, fellas. Thanks for having me.
- 26:55Speaker 5: G'day, Pugs.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Appreciate it.
- 26:56Speaker 4: The theme for Keezy's Come Dine With Me is... You
- 27:01Speaker 4: Simply Must. You Simply Must... Go to Italy, Hoity J. Yes. Because,
- 27:10Speaker 4: of course, Jase has never been to Italy. He's never
- 27:12Speaker 4: been to Europe, but he simply must. It's an ongoing
- 27:15Speaker 4: joke on the show. You know, whenever someone talks about
- 27:17Speaker 4: Italy or Europe in general, that's what you say.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Oui, oui.
- 27:21Speaker 4: That's France. Don't get France and Italy mixed up.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Sure, man. We're going to Italy, fellas.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Yeah, great.
- 27:32Speaker 1: That's awesome, man.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm very excited. A bit of bus.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Pasta. Yeah. Yeah, that's right.
- 27:37Speaker 3: A little bit of pizza.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I'm not giving you the menu now.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Oh. But that's what we'll be doing.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Take a mark off there.
- 27:44Speaker 4: And my wife and I have been putting a lot
- 27:46Speaker 4: of thought into this.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Well, mainly my wife. She's been freaking out a wee
- 27:49Speaker 4: bit about it.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Yes.
- 27:50Speaker 4: But you'll be pleased to know that Chef Keezy will
- 27:52Speaker 4: be all hands to the tiller.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:55Speaker 4: On the big day when it comes to making everything.
- 27:58Speaker 4: Supervision from my wife, who's a very, very good chef.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:02Speaker 4: But it'll be me and already has... begun to be
- 28:05Speaker 4: me yes hosting you guys this.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Week great good stuff man yeah so it should be
- 28:10Speaker 1: you good on you mate.
- 28:11Speaker 4: Saturday afternoon um of course she'll be helping me with
- 28:14Speaker 4: bits and pieces yeah um but yeah i'm freaking out
- 28:18Speaker 4: a little bit because it's a huge responsibility.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Big job man big job yeah it really is won't
- 28:24Speaker 3: be getting many sleeps this week that's for sure.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Well i don't know if i need to stay up
- 28:28Speaker 1: all week It just feels like, yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 4: To cook you guys some macaroni.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Macaroni and cheese, yum.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Yeah, just the packet stuff.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Yeah, good.
- 28:36Speaker 4: So I'm going to get eight packets of that. We'll
- 28:38Speaker 4: just have one each.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Yum.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Just run them all through the microwave.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Don't spoil it. Yeah, true, true.
- 28:43Speaker 5: Yeah, nice.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Thoughts, feelings? Look, I'll be honest with you. I'm not
- 28:47Speaker 1: huge on pastas and things, but I know a good one.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I know a good one, Keezy.
- 28:53Speaker 5: Great.
- 28:53Speaker 1: So we click to judge. Obviously very simple to make,
- 28:57Speaker 1: very simple. Pizza's obviously very simple to make as well.
- 29:00Speaker 1: So you're going to have to increase the degree of
- 29:03Speaker 1: difficulty somehow. I don't know how you're going to do that.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to all the various wines that will
- 29:08Speaker 1: be available there as well. Margaritas, of course.
- 29:11Speaker 5: Si, si.
- 29:12Speaker 1: It's Spanish. But you've got to have margaritas, man, because
- 29:15Speaker 1: we're getting on it.
- 29:16Speaker 4: Well, no, don't just force margaritas into my Italian restaurant.
- 29:20Speaker 1: No, that's not how it works. My trattoria. So margaritas.
- 29:24Speaker 4: No.
- 29:25Speaker 1: No.
- 29:25Speaker 4: I mean, obviously, the menu will be coming Friday.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:28Speaker 4: But I'm just saying, no, there won't be margaritas.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Let's take another mark off there.
- 29:31Speaker 4: No, stop taking marks off.
- 29:33Speaker 3: I'm very excited. Keezy, that sounds delicious, mate. I love
- 29:37Speaker 3: me a good pasta.
- 29:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Nah.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Excited to go to Italy as well, man.
- 29:41Speaker 1: A bit of scampi. A bit of chili. Oh, yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 3: A bit of parmigiano.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Racist.
- 29:48Speaker 5: Is it?
- 29:49Speaker 1: Maybe just keep a lid on that.
- 29:51Speaker 3: A bit of vino.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Which is wine.
- 29:54Speaker 5: Wine. Oh.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Pugs, are you excited for this, man? I'm absolutely foaming
- 29:58Speaker 4: in the mouth.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I love Italian cuisine.
- 30:00Speaker 4: It's arguably my favourite after Asian cuisine. After the entire
- 30:05Speaker 4: continent of Asia.
- 30:06Speaker 1: After every country in Asia. Then there's Italy. Right, okay, yeah. So, yeah,
- 30:12Speaker 1: I'm really excited. I'm also just excited to see you
- 30:14Speaker 1: in action and how that goes. Yeah, I don't know.
- 30:19Speaker 1: You're freaking out a bit. And I'll be honest. I
- 30:21Speaker 1: just hope the stress from the kitchen... It doesn't make
- 30:24Speaker 1: its way out of the kitchen. Have you got a
- 30:26Speaker 1: separate kitchen at your house? Because at Jason's place, there
- 30:28Speaker 1: was a bit of an issue when they started really...
- 30:30Speaker 1: Jason and his wife started really screaming at each other. Yeah,
- 30:32Speaker 1: that was full on. It was, because that was an
- 30:34Speaker 1: open plan.
- 30:35Speaker 4: Yeah, no, ours is a bit more closed off.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 30:38Speaker 4: So the dining slash lounge area is very much its
- 30:41Speaker 4: own little area there.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Now, it's not going to be a sort of a
- 30:43Speaker 1: cramped environment, is it, in terms of the table and space?
- 30:46Speaker 4: I need you to not have an issue with cramped spaces.
- 30:49Speaker 1: You're going to be in my tiny two-person... Almost one
- 30:52Speaker 1: person apart. You're entirely welcome, Pugsan, to hire a more
- 30:56Speaker 1: suitable space for the occasion.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Well, let's just say it's not super cramped. It's not
- 31:01Speaker 4: a Pugsan situation, okay? But we have had to get
- 31:04Speaker 4: more chairs and tables and stuff in because we can't
- 31:07Speaker 4: usually host this.
- 31:07Speaker 1: How good is this? This is great. It's funny, eh?
- 31:09Speaker 1: It's awesome.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Because my wife and I literally were rearranging furniture in
- 31:13Speaker 4: the lounge and stuff.
- 31:13Speaker 1: How are we going to do it?
- 31:14Speaker 4: And like scratching our heads and, no, that won't work,
- 31:16Speaker 4: and then rearranged it again. We're like, maybe that'll work. So, yeah,
- 31:20Speaker 4: it's going to be full on. But this Saturday, come
- 31:22Speaker 4: dine with Keezy, Italy edition.
- 31:25Speaker 1: How good. Yeah, good stuff, mate.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Here's Gorillas.
- 31:32Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 31:36Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Nirvana there on the radio. Hodaki Big Show this Monday evening.
- 31:44Speaker 3: The time is 5.29. Jeez, this show has just flown by, fellas.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Certainly has, Jase.
- 31:49Speaker 4: We're just chatting about Come Dine With The Fellas, the
- 31:52Speaker 4: latest edition of this happening this weekend. You'll be coming
- 31:55Speaker 4: over to Keezy's house for a delicious Italian-themed evening. But
- 31:59Speaker 4: just on Come Dine With Me, I've got a bit
- 32:01Speaker 4: of an issue I need to bring up with you guys.
- 32:06Speaker 3: Come Dine With.
- 32:12Speaker 1: The Feelers.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Something happened yesterday which made me realise I have to
- 32:17Speaker 4: go back and adjust my scoring for one of the
- 32:20Speaker 4: Come Dine With Me nights. So we had Hot Pot
- 32:22Speaker 4: Mogies two months ago. We had Jace, you did Late
- 32:26Speaker 4: Winter Christmas a few weeks ago.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Very well scored both nights. Very great.
- 32:32Speaker 4: Very enjoyable.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Jace.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Afternoons, actually, but yes.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Jace.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Yes.
- 32:39Speaker 4: I got a ticket yesterday in the mail, a parking
- 32:41Speaker 4: ticket for $ 70 for parking outside your house.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Seriously?
- 32:46Speaker 4: And I checked the thing and it was a Sunday
- 32:48Speaker 4: and it said I didn't need to pay. And then
- 32:51Speaker 4: they stung me.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Yeah, got you good.
- 32:55Speaker 4: So I guess the sort of thing I'm looking at
- 32:57Speaker 4: here is I've essentially.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Paid $ 70.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 33:02Speaker 3: No, I mean, I see where you're coming from. Actually,
- 33:05Speaker 3: my wife and I had this discussion the other day,
- 33:08Speaker 3: and we still have them, even though we've been there
- 33:10Speaker 3: for like seven months. Is Sunday free or not?
- 33:15Speaker 4: Well, I checked the app.
- 33:16Speaker 3: It's very confusing.
- 33:17Speaker 4: I checked the app and it said it was free.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 33:19Speaker 4: And then I got stung with $ 70.
- 33:21Speaker 1: You like that?
- 33:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 1: It was good.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Well worth it, I'm sure.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Cheap at twice the price, Kezi, for that kind of experience.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Totally, man.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Cheap at twice the price. Think about how much the
- 33:33Speaker 1: food would have cost Jase, man. Yeah, I don't really
- 33:36Speaker 1: care about that. Potatoes? Yeah, potatoes are expensive. Duck fat?
- 33:40Speaker 5: Ham?
- 33:40Speaker 3: Actually, duck fat's very reasonable. It was like seven bucks.
- 33:45Speaker 3: I had duck fat potatoes last night. Beautiful. I've nailed
- 33:50Speaker 3: those bastards.
- 33:51Speaker 4: You love duck fat, eh?
- 33:52Speaker 3: I love it, man. I smear it on my body
- 33:54Speaker 3: every night.
- 33:55Speaker 4: Hey, so I'm thinking, so I gave you an overall
- 33:59Speaker 4: 35 out of 40.
- 34:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Very generous. Which felt high at the time. Yeah, you're right.
- 34:04Speaker 4: And now looking back a few weeks on, I'm just
- 34:06Speaker 4: looking back, I'm considering the ticket. I'm thinking I'm going
- 34:09Speaker 4: to have to drop that down to like a 32
- 34:11Speaker 4: out of 40.
- 34:11Speaker 5: Right. Yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 3: So just to clarify, you're docking me points because you
- 34:19Speaker 3: got a ticket and also because Pugs had a steamer
- 34:23Speaker 3: in the entertainment.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Oh, Jase, I'm not sure that's relevant. I already docked
- 34:27Speaker 1: you for that.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Well, I know. I was disgusted on your behalf, Pugs,
- 34:31Speaker 3: that he did that.
- 34:32Speaker 4: So you would have got a 10 out of 10
- 34:33Speaker 4: for entertainment, but it was a 9 because Pugs had
- 34:35Speaker 4: a steamer in the middle of it.
- 34:35Speaker 1: That's right. Look, I'll be honest with you, Jase. I
- 34:39Speaker 1: think you should cop this.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Sure, man.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I think you should cop it sweet. While all the
- 34:43Speaker 1: while being aware that... Of course. Keezy's got a very
- 34:45Speaker 1: big weekend coming up, doesn't he?
- 34:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Very big weekend.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Or how about this?
- 34:49Speaker 1: Or how about this? How about this? I can't even
- 34:51Speaker 1: believe you brought this up as a possibility, Keezy. Given
- 34:54Speaker 1: the week, given what's happening this weekend, you're hosting your own.
- 34:57Speaker 1: I would hate.
- 34:59Speaker 3: to have a delicious meal at Keezy's, right, and then
- 35:02Speaker 3: be walking to my car and slip on the rough
- 35:06Speaker 3: pavement of West Auckland and, you know, stub my knee
- 35:11Speaker 3: or something like that. I'd hate for that to happen.
- 35:13Speaker 4: Are you blackmailing me?
- 35:15Speaker 3: That would be terrible.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Hang on.
- 35:18Speaker 4: Well, how about this? How about this, Jase? The reason
- 35:20Speaker 4: I'm bringing it up is because I thought this was
- 35:22Speaker 4: a fair and unbiased competition. I thought we were just
- 35:23Speaker 4: being honest.
- 35:25Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 35:25Speaker 4: So I'm just being honest here. I got stung. I
- 35:28Speaker 4: had to pay to go to your house. I have
- 35:29Speaker 4: to deduct points for that. Unless you just want to
- 35:32Speaker 4: take care of it.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Well, no, look, you do you, Keezy. That's totally fair enough, mate.
- 35:38Speaker 3: If you want to drop my score, you do so.
- 35:41Speaker 4: And you're not going to be a dick this weekend,
- 35:43Speaker 4: are you?
- 35:44Speaker 3: Well, no. We'll just see how it goes.
- 35:47Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 35:50Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 35:54Speaker 1: One simple question. One weekend of a lifetime. Would you rather?
- 36:01Speaker 3: Yes, indeed, was or cause. You decide, New Zealand.
- 36:05Speaker 5: Wow.
- 36:05Speaker 3: Two great prizes.
- 36:07Speaker 4: NRL Grand Final or Bathurst.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yeah, man. Yeah.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Oh, you've changed, Keezy.
- 36:14Speaker 1: I'm just sad, man.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I know you are.
- 36:16Speaker 4: I'm just sad.
- 36:17Speaker 3: You've lost the faith.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I've dropped lip. They're quite specific about this, Keezy. They
- 36:21Speaker 1: say keep the faith. And you're going against that rule.
- 36:24Speaker 1: My God, you're right.
- 36:25Speaker 4: It's just a matter of faith.
- 36:26Speaker 1: It's just a matter of faith. It's always been a
- 36:28Speaker 1: matter of faith. You're losing the faith.
- 36:30Speaker 3: I fully believe in the fellas.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Jase, you don't even care. Hey, you know who does care? BoysTrip.co.nz.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Thanks, man.
- 36:37Speaker 4: And they've put together a couple of great packages. You
- 36:40Speaker 4: can have three nights over in Australia there with shuttles
- 36:44Speaker 4: to and from Mount Panorama, both Saturday and Sunday if
- 36:47Speaker 4: you're keen to go to Bathurst. Or you can go
- 36:49Speaker 4: to Sydney, go to the Randwick races on the Saturday,
- 36:52Speaker 4: boat cruise to the stadium on Sunday and watch the
- 36:54Speaker 4: grand final. Flights, accommodation, all taken care of.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Transfers, everything. Too good, man.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Too good. Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Ian,
- 37:01Speaker 3: you mad bastard. How's life?
- 37:03Speaker 1: Yeah, not too shabby.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Boys and yourself?
- 37:05Speaker 3: Yeah, good, thanks, mate. Good weekend there for you, Ian.
- 37:08Speaker 3: What did you do?
- 37:10Speaker 5: Mate, just a quiet one, eh? A few documentaries, a
- 37:13Speaker 5: couple of movies, and caught up on sleep, believe it
- 37:16Speaker 5: or not.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Oh, good on you, mate.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Watched a bit of sport as well, did you?
- 37:20Speaker 5: Absolutely, as tragic as it was.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, good on you, mate. And what do you
- 37:23Speaker 3: do for a crust, Ian?
- 37:24Speaker 5: A bit of a jack, mate.
- 37:26Speaker 1: All trades.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Sweet.
- 37:29Speaker 3: So what are you going, NRL or Bathurst?
- 37:34Speaker 5: Now, look, you can still have faith from Bathurst, eh?
- 37:36Speaker 1: Absolutely, you can.
- 37:37Speaker 3: You totally can, mate. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 4: So you're going to go bad-fest, Ian?
- 37:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll be on the mountain, mate. All right, we'll
- 37:43Speaker 1: lock that in, mate. You're in the draw. Good luck,
- 37:45Speaker 1: all right?
- 37:46Speaker 5: Cheers, boys.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Good on you, mate.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Hello, Rachel. How's life?
- 37:50Speaker 5: Yeah, not too bad.
- 37:51Speaker 4: Thanks. How are you guys?
- 37:52Speaker 5: Yeah, good.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Thanks, mate.
- 37:54Speaker 3: You had a nice weekend there, Rachel?
- 37:57Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. We learned the value of a jib lifter,
- 38:01Speaker 5: chucking jib up onto the bedroom ceiling. Oh, yeah.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Yeah, she's back-breaking.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I just used my left arm for that. Far out.
- 38:09Speaker 1: You're a backbone. You're a legend, though.
- 38:11Speaker 3: You're a massive backbone.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Hey, Rachel, what do you do for a crust, man?
- 38:16Speaker 3: I work in electrical wholesale.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Oh, do you?
- 38:18Speaker 3: Backbone.
- 38:19Speaker 1: How good. Plugs and that. There he is.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Lights and stuff.
- 38:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Lights and stuff.
- 38:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Now you're talking. All right, Rachel, what would you rather,
- 38:29Speaker 3: a Bathurst or the grand final?
- 38:31Speaker 5: Oh, it's got to be Bathurst.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Yeah, two Bathurst. I wonder if we're going to find
- 38:36Speaker 1: a few more Bathurst folk sort of queuing up.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 1: But look, it's a great, you know, if you go
- 38:42Speaker 1: to the Waz, it's a great weekend regardless. But I
- 38:45Speaker 1: can see it sort of thinning out a little bit here, there. Hey, Rachel,
- 38:51Speaker 1: you're in the draw, mate. Good luck.
- 38:53Speaker 4: Wonderful.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 38:54Speaker 5: No worries.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Thank you, Rachel.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Good luck. I'm disappointed in you, Keezy.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Jase, come on, man.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Save it, all right?
- 38:59Speaker 3: You're being the fair weather fan.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I'm not a fair weather fan.
- 39:03Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 39:04Speaker 4: That is not true.
- 39:05Speaker 1: This, I would argue. Right when they need you the most. Right.
- 39:08Speaker 3: This is the moment. And Keezy's dropping lit. He's skulking
- 39:13Speaker 3: around the place. And he's, oh, the last three games
- 39:15Speaker 3: have been really lackluster.
- 39:17Speaker 1: I think we've run out of juice.
- 39:18Speaker 5: Who said that?
- 39:18Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 39:19Speaker 3: It's a disgrace. And it's disappointing, man. As a massive
- 39:25Speaker 3: fan of the Waz myself, I cannot believe you. Do
- 39:28Speaker 3: you see Mogi dropping? lip?
- 39:30Speaker 1: Don't see me dropping lip, man. What I love about
- 39:33Speaker 1: it is we now get the opportunity to beat another team.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Thank you, mate.
- 39:37Speaker 1: So we're going to go belting Newcastle up again, which
- 39:40Speaker 1: is going to be great guns. Then after that, right
- 39:43Speaker 1: when the Dolphins think they're going to win, we're going
- 39:45Speaker 1: to belt them. Yeah, okay. And then we'll probably see
- 39:47Speaker 1: Penrith in the final. We'll belt those bastards as well.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Is there anything better than being the toughest kid on
- 39:51Speaker 1: the block and all you're doing is just wandering around
- 39:53Speaker 1: just smacking people over?
- 39:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:54Speaker 1: That's the wise man. And they just think to themselves,
- 39:57Speaker 1: we don't want to wake off. We want to smack
- 39:58Speaker 1: someone else over. Let's go.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Thank you, Mogi. I think they deliberately lost that match.
- 40:03Speaker 1: They threw it, man.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Because they want to do three in a row and
- 40:06Speaker 3: go douche, dominant, dominant, dominant champions.
- 40:10Speaker 1: That was four. But fair enough, man. Hey, shout out
- 40:14Speaker 1: to boyship.co.nz.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Here's Black Sabbath.
- 40:19Speaker 2: The Hodaki Beat Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 40:23Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 40:25Speaker 3: The dudes on Radio Hodaki this Monday evening. The time
- 40:32Speaker 3: is 5.54.
- 40:33Speaker 4: Hey, fellas, the 2026 Dunedin Craft Beer and Food Festival
- 40:37Speaker 4: is happening in November, the 27th and 28th down at
- 40:40Speaker 4: Forsyth Bar Stadium there. It is a fantastic event. We've
- 40:44Speaker 4: been there a few times. Tickets available, dunedinbeerfestival.co.nz. Great musical artists,
- 40:49Speaker 4: over 75 beer, food and beverage vendors. Now, to celebrate
- 40:52Speaker 4: those Emersons who have flown us down there a few times.
- 40:56Speaker 4: They are crafting a magical beer for the event. It
- 40:59Speaker 4: is a tropical hazy pale ale, and it needs a name.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Is it magical?
- 41:03Speaker 3: Apparently. Wow.
- 41:04Speaker 4: I don't know what it does. I think it makes
- 41:06Speaker 4: you pissed.
- 41:07Speaker 5: Oh.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Maybe. I'm not sure.
- 41:08Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Responsibly. Well, responsibly, Keezy. Come on, man.
- 41:11Speaker 1: I hope so. Yeah, responsibly.
- 41:14Speaker 3: You could just have it as a nice quiet tipple
- 41:16Speaker 3: of an evening.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Yes, at the Craft Beer and Food Festival.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Yes. With that in mind, of course, it needs a name.
- 41:23Speaker 4: People are texting through on 3483, a good name for
- 41:26Speaker 4: the beer, and we've got a whole heap of Emerson's
- 41:28Speaker 4: hoodies to send out to the texts we like, so
- 41:30Speaker 4: please keep sending them, 3483. Brayden says, Ingle beer, hump
- 41:34Speaker 4: a drink.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Not bad. Yeah, it's pretty good, actually. What about turn
- 41:38Speaker 1: that brown upside down?
- 41:39Speaker 4: Turn that brown upside down?
- 41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got a mug there. You turn that mug
- 41:43Speaker 1: upside down, you see. Yeah, brown just makes me think of, yeah, yeah.
- 41:46Speaker 1: You're thinking about poos again, Casey. Poos, yeah, not again. God,
- 41:48Speaker 1: you can't get it out of your head, can you, man?
- 41:49Speaker 3: God, you're obsessed.
- 41:51Speaker 4: I'm obsessed with poos, guys, yeah.
- 41:54Speaker 1: You're shocking me. G'day, guys. Hoity Fizz. Now we're talking.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Yeah, that's good.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Now we're talking.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Of course, that's a reference to Jase's birth name, which
- 42:02Speaker 4: is Hoity Jizz.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Yes.
- 42:04Speaker 3: But, you know, you'd have to pay me massive to
- 42:07Speaker 3: use my name.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Royalties, yes. I think the money, while you're working here,
- 42:10Speaker 1: I think the money goes to Bogsy. Oh, does it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Your sign overall writes to your name. That'd be right.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Bearkbone.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Bearkbone. No. Oh, okay. Cold frothy jizz.
- 42:26Speaker 4: The jizz fizz.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Or fizzy jizz. These are all great.
- 42:32Speaker 4: Three guys, one hop.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Oh, I see what they've done there.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Hazy day with hoity jay. And you can see the
- 42:38Speaker 4: image on the can is like a nice sunset and
- 42:41Speaker 4: an umbrella and a little chair there.
- 42:43Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Well, no, me just staring out at the ocean with
- 42:45Speaker 3: my hands clasped behind my back.
- 42:48Speaker 1: That would be good, actually.
- 42:49Speaker 4: Hazy, wheezy, keezy. Hoity Jays, cloudy eyes, ale. What's on
- 42:56Speaker 4: tap with me, Keezy.
- 42:58Speaker 1: See?
- 43:00Speaker 4: All this one here. Keezy on all fours sharing a
- 43:02Speaker 4: bed with 20 dudes in Clevedon with me, Keezy Tropical
- 43:04Speaker 4: Hazy Pale Ale. So there's lots of really.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Great suggestions coming through.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Keep them coming, 3483, and we'll dish out some awesome
- 43:11Speaker 4: Emerson's hoodies.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Yeah, great stuff, Keezy. After 6 o'clock, I've done it
- 43:16Speaker 3: again at an auction, fellas. I'm in trouble. I'm in
- 43:19Speaker 3: big trouble. Bit of sport chat as well, I think.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 43:25Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 43:29Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Monday's going along
- 43:34Speaker 3: very nicely indeed. You're listening to The Big Show, by
- 43:37Speaker 3: the way, brought to you by Reburger.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that'll change the game.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Mmm, yummy. What's on the plate tonight, Moggy? No idea?
- 43:48Speaker 3: Or do you have an idea?
- 43:50Speaker 1: No, I actually do have an idea. Strangely enough, I
- 43:52Speaker 1: just received a text from my wife there Who's the
- 43:56Speaker 1: one cooking this evening?
- 43:58Speaker 3: All right.
- 43:59Speaker 1: It's a dumpling salad. This is the text. I'll read
- 44:02Speaker 1: you the text. All right. Dumpling salad. There's chicken dumplings
- 44:07Speaker 1: in freezer. You love dumplings, eh? Well, when it's sold
- 44:13Speaker 1: to me like that, I do. One more time. Dumpling salad.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Dumpling salad. There's chicken dumplings in the freezer. I mean,
- 44:21Speaker 1: how good does that sound? So she's saying, like, you've
- 44:23Speaker 1: got to cook those yourself? 100% that's what she's saying. Yum.
- 44:27Speaker 3: All right? That's rough.
- 44:28Speaker 1: What are you having? That sounds good, man.
- 44:31Speaker 4: What are you having, Jase?
- 44:33Speaker 1: Saucies. What kind of saucies, though?
- 44:37Speaker 3: I don't know, maybe some sort of beef or something. Chicken? No,
- 44:40Speaker 3: not chicken.
- 44:41Speaker 1: You like a chicken sausage?
- 44:42Speaker 3: No, I don't. Saucies, roasted kuma and broccoli salad. What?
- 44:48Speaker 1: With a sausage?
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 44:50Speaker 1: That's mad. It's madness, eh?
- 44:53Speaker 4: And I'm interested to see if the listeners agree on 3483.
- 44:55Speaker 4: I love sausages. Like, I love sausages, man.
- 44:58Speaker 1: We know that, Keith. Muggs has got his thumb up
- 45:00Speaker 1: out there.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he's always.
- 45:01Speaker 1: He's a big sausage lover. He's only got one in
- 45:04Speaker 1: each hand. Yeah, 100%.
- 45:07Speaker 3: The only reason, because I'm not a big sausage fan,
- 45:10Speaker 3: but I'm happy we've got white bread at home. So
- 45:12Speaker 3: squirt a bit of musty and sauce on there. Why
- 45:16Speaker 3: ruin it?
- 45:16Speaker 4: Just have it. Because you're always shopping at those fancy supermarkets.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Go and get a gourmet sausage.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Go get a gourmet sausage with some parmesan or truffle
- 45:24Speaker 4: or something in it.
- 45:25Speaker 1: It's beautiful, man.
- 45:27Speaker 3: What are you having?
- 45:28Speaker 4: My wife just texted saying a larb.
- 45:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Chicken larb.
- 45:35Speaker 4: No, pork mince.
- 45:37Speaker 3: So raw pork mince salad.
- 45:39Speaker 1: No, it's not raw.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Your larva's raw.
- 45:41Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 45:42Speaker 5: Is it?
- 45:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 45:44Speaker 1: No, it's not.
- 45:44Speaker 4: Is it?
- 45:46Speaker 3: Anyway, coming up.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Yes, it is.
- 45:49Speaker 3: A bit of sport chat, fellas.
- 45:50Speaker 1: It's a hell of a weekend, wasn't it?
- 45:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it was.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Do we have to go over it? I think so.
- 45:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 45:57Speaker 3: Get it out of the system.
- 45:58Speaker 1: People want to know, man, what we think about it.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Here's the hives.
- 46:02Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 46:05Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.

- 46:30Speaker 4: Last time we did this, people got very close cent
- 46:32Speaker 4: for cent.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Yes, they did.
- 46:34Speaker 4: Then go to hodaki.co.nz to Big Deck Energy, that's the
- 46:38Speaker 4: name of the competition. Submit your wish list, sign up,

- 46:47Speaker 3: Fellas, let's talk sport. Not yet, mate.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Not yet.
- 46:53Speaker 3: Not yet. Well, we've touched on the Waz. Disappointing. Very disappointing.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Massively.
- 47:06Speaker 4: I was there live at the stadium.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Yeah. A lot of build-up. A lot of excitement.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Real mish even getting the tickets. There were four of
- 47:12Speaker 4: us running laptops. One of us managed to get through
- 47:15Speaker 4: and make it happen. We were so fizzed up. We
- 47:17Speaker 4: started early on Saturday. Got to the stadium.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Good vibes.
- 47:21Speaker 4: Two hours early.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Vibes kept going. Game started.
- 47:25Speaker 4: Seemed like we were all G, and then the second
- 47:27Speaker 4: half for me, it was just so gutting.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Down buzz. Yeah, but still.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Such a great experience. I love going to Mount Smart
- 47:33Speaker 4: and making a big day of it.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:35Speaker 4: Just gutted the result.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 47:37Speaker 4: But hey.
- 47:37Speaker 1: That sport.
- 47:38Speaker 4: Got another game this Sunday, fellas.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Let's talk the ABs. Obviously going down 3-1 to the
- 47:43Speaker 3: South Africans in Baltimore, the final game. Bizarre growing the game,
- 47:49Speaker 3: as they say. As usual when the game's played in America,
- 47:52Speaker 3: lots of technical issues. I was effing and jeffing throughout
- 47:56Speaker 3: this game. Huge delays, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
- 48:01Speaker 3: You know, my view is, fellas, that the South Africans
- 48:03Speaker 3: are just too good at the moment. Yeah. I would
- 48:06Speaker 3: back them to beat us eight out of ten times.
- 48:09Speaker 3: I don't know how we're going to beat them. I
- 48:11Speaker 3: know on our day we can beat them with our innovation,
- 48:15Speaker 3: with our attacking play. But they're so physical, so brutal,
- 48:21Speaker 3: and they're quick. And they're very hard to stop. And
- 48:25Speaker 3: there were 20-minute periods in that game where they just
- 48:27Speaker 3: smashed us, destroyed us. And it was like, how do we?
- 48:32Speaker 3: I thought they were going to play out to 50
- 48:34Speaker 3: at one point, but we held on, but just not
- 48:37Speaker 3: good enough.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's about it. I mean, I watched it,
- 48:40Speaker 1: and it was a tough watch. 80-minute game took 110 minutes.
- 48:44Speaker 1: There was a period where it stopped for 10 minutes,
- 48:46Speaker 1: and I was fast-forwarding it. And as a sidebar, did
- 48:49Speaker 1: you get up and watch it live?
- 48:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I was on at 9, so I didn't have to.
- 48:52Speaker 5: Oh, of course it was.
- 48:53Speaker 3: Of course it was.
- 48:53Speaker 1: But I watched it a little bit marginally later than that.
- 48:56Speaker 1: On Sky now, if you're watching things back, you can't
- 48:59Speaker 1: fast-forward the ads. You have to sit through them. You
- 49:02Speaker 1: can fast-forward all of the other content, But they make
- 49:05Speaker 1: you watch the ads. You can only pause. So that's
- 49:08Speaker 1: obviously a commercial decision they've made.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:10Speaker 1: When you've got paying subscribers, they will not let you
- 49:14Speaker 1: fast forward the ads. And I think that is absolute bullshit. Yeah,
- 49:18Speaker 1: it's a disgrace. It's a disgrace. but yeah as you
- 49:20Speaker 1: say I just think they're far too good but at
- 49:22Speaker 1: the other end of the stick we're old there Dave
- 49:24Speaker 1: Rooney's been in there for a year it's all about
- 49:26Speaker 1: the World Cup fingers crossed who knows what will happen
- 49:28Speaker 1: between now and then but Yeah, just the better side
- 49:31Speaker 1: all around. But we've lost, keep in mind, we've lost
- 49:33Speaker 1: probably two years of solid development as a result of
- 49:36Speaker 1: the last coaching regime.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I actually feel pretty optimistic about the
- 49:41Speaker 3: World Cup. I think, you know, we're definitely a chance,
- 49:44Speaker 3: but man.
- 49:45Speaker 1: South Africa's good. They're bloody good, man.
- 49:47Speaker 3: They're bloody good.
- 49:48Speaker 4: The thing with the All Blacks is when the ball,
- 49:51Speaker 4: when we've got some good go forward and it gets
- 49:52Speaker 4: out to the back so we can catch them flat footed,
- 49:55Speaker 4: our backs.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Can tear them a new one. It's just about.
- 49:58Speaker 4: The dominance in the forward pack and stuff. It's just
- 50:00Speaker 4: if we can somehow combat that.
- 50:03Speaker 3: I tell you another massive weakness in this game that
- 50:06Speaker 3: was exposed again, the high ball. They got every single
- 50:10Speaker 3: high ball they put up. And our plan of attack
- 50:13Speaker 3: was to turn our backs on them and try and
- 50:15Speaker 3: block them. That didn't work. We've got to do something
- 50:17Speaker 3: about that quick smart.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Disgraceful.
- 50:20Speaker 4: How are you under the high ball just ahead of
- 50:21Speaker 4: us playing rugby next year?
- 50:23Speaker 3: Pretty damn solid, Keezy.
- 50:25Speaker 4: It's good to know it.
- 50:26Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 50:29Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Live there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday evening.
- 50:36Speaker 3: The time is 6.27. Fellas have done it again. Another
- 50:39Speaker 3: debacle in the Hauri J household. You'll recall, of course...
- 50:44Speaker 3: The fact that I bought a ridiculous coffee table.
- 50:46Speaker 4: That's right, because you're addicted to an auction website.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Well, a couple of them now, actually.
- 50:50Speaker 4: And the photos on the website look lovely and make
- 50:52Speaker 4: it look really amazing. Yes. It has the dimensions written there. Yes.
- 50:55Speaker 4: And then you bought a coffee table. And we came
- 50:57Speaker 4: around to your house and saw it. It's massive.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's massive. You must love coffee, man.
- 51:02Speaker 3: Well, it's one of those things. It would be perfect
- 51:04Speaker 3: in a scene from Game of Thrones.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Or in a garage or like a storage unit.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, I actually think it's more of an outdoor
- 51:10Speaker 3: one now. When we have some outdoors, it'll be a
- 51:12Speaker 3: great little outdoor coffee table.
- 51:14Speaker 1: I sort of imagine it sort of sitting on the
- 51:16Speaker 1: verge when they do that next sort of rubbish collection.
- 51:18Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Organic.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Inorganic? Yeah. Oh, sorry. Inorganic.
- 51:24Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 51:24Speaker 3: Well, part of it's organic because it's wood.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Come on, man.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Apology accepted.
- 51:28Speaker 3: Now, that was an atrocity, and when they brought it out,
- 51:33Speaker 3: my wife said two words, and that was, oh, and
- 51:36Speaker 3: then I won't say the other word. Now, I should
- 51:38Speaker 3: have learnt my lesson, and I have become addicted to
- 51:41Speaker 3: auctions because we don't have sort of antique markets, and
- 51:45Speaker 3: we don't have that sort of stuff around the place.
- 51:47Speaker 3: No great places you can walk into and go and
- 51:50Speaker 3: look at stuff.
- 51:51Speaker 4: I bet you do, but you haven't looked into it.
- 51:52Speaker 1: They have hundreds of them in Australia. After waking up, Jase,
- 51:55Speaker 1: how long is it before you hit that website?
- 51:58Speaker 5: Oh.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Eight minutes?
- 51:59Speaker 3: Well, it depends if I've bid on anything. Yeah. Yeah,
- 52:02Speaker 3: you know what I mean? So anyway, it's happened again.
- 52:05Speaker 4: Okay, because just that coffee table, you had to rearrange
- 52:08Speaker 4: your entire living room to suit the coffee table to
- 52:11Speaker 4: make it fit.
- 52:12Speaker 1: And no one in your family likes it. None of
- 52:13Speaker 1: your daughters.
- 52:14Speaker 3: Oh, my youngest does.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Oh, there you go. That's good.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Yeah, but my wife said, well, that should tell you plenty.
- 52:22Speaker 3: So anyway, I saw this. I'm a bit of a
- 52:25Speaker 3: lamp guy. I like lamps, okay? I like lamps.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I like lamps. You're like the golf anchor man.
- 52:32Speaker 3: You love lamps. I love a lamp. And I saw
- 52:35Speaker 3: this amazing one, and it was just the sort of
- 52:38Speaker 3: lamp I like. Very elegant, very, you know, to have
- 52:41Speaker 3: on a coffee table. Do you need a lamp? Well,
- 52:43Speaker 3: not necessarily. To have on a coffee table, for example, Mogi.
- 52:47Speaker 1: For sure.
- 52:48Speaker 4: That's just another thing. He's going to have to get
- 52:49Speaker 4: an electrician to come around when a light bulb goes on.
- 52:51Speaker 1: I know. Now.
- 52:53Speaker 3: Now, I went, I want to bet on that bastard.
- 52:55Speaker 3: And I've got another similar lamp to it in my house.
- 52:58Speaker 3: Very cute, very pretty. The lamp. The lamp, yeah. And
- 53:03Speaker 3: I went, I want to get that. And I've lost
- 53:05Speaker 3: all these other beds, right? So I'm like, I'm fired up.
- 53:09Speaker 3: I'm fired up. And I'm like, I'm not going to
- 53:11Speaker 3: lose this one. Again, didn't pay attention to the details.
- 53:17Speaker 4: So did you think it was a table lamp, a
- 53:19Speaker 4: desk lamp?
- 53:19Speaker 3: Well, it's like, yeah, it's like a table lamp.
- 53:21Speaker 1: It's not like a free, okay, right, okay.
- 53:23Speaker 3: So then I pretty much win the bid of the auction.
- 53:27Speaker 1: The auction, yeah.
- 53:28Speaker 3: And then I look at the measurements.
- 53:30Speaker 1: That's when you look?
- 53:31Speaker 3: That's when I looked.
- 53:33Speaker 4: Did you go, hang on, I should probably double check?
- 53:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:35Speaker 3: That's exactly what I did.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 53:38Speaker 3: This is after I've pretty much won it. Hang on,
- 53:41Speaker 3: I should double check just the actual size of that.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Okay.
- 53:45Speaker 3: So the lamp is 80 centimetres in height.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's big.
- 53:51Speaker 3: And it's a table lamp. It's not a freestanding. It's
- 53:55Speaker 3: 80 centimetres in height and 60 centimetres in diameter.
- 54:00Speaker 5: Wow.
- 54:01Speaker 3: I thought it was literally like, you know, 20 centimeters.
- 54:08Speaker 3: But again, so now my wife's going to absolutely lose
- 54:12Speaker 3: her shit over this. So what I'm going to have
- 54:14Speaker 3: to do is pay for it, pick it up, And
- 54:19Speaker 3: then go and hide it in our storage unit.
- 54:21Speaker 1: That is so embarrassing. That sounds like the most mature
- 54:25Speaker 1: way to handle this.
- 54:26Speaker 3: I think it's the only thing I can do. There's
- 54:28Speaker 3: no way she's going to let it in the house.
- 54:30Speaker 4: So does she know about it?
- 54:32Speaker 5: No.
- 54:32Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 54:33Speaker 1: So every now and again, you're just going to go
- 54:34Speaker 1: down to your storage unit. And just plug it in.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Plug it in. Have a gaze, enjoy it.
- 54:39Speaker 3: Yeah, switch it on and off. Because my wife said
- 54:42Speaker 3: to me, I mean, she said to me, seriously, you
- 54:45Speaker 3: have the taste of a 90-year-old woman.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Well, a blind 90-year-old woman.
- 54:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:49Speaker 3: You know? I mean, I think I've got quite good taste, but,
- 54:52Speaker 3: you know, I'm beginning to have doubts, fellas.
- 54:55Speaker 4: Well, I think you've got a real opportunity here with
- 54:57Speaker 4: your giant coffee table and giant lamp, and obviously you're
- 55:00Speaker 4: small in stature. You could set up your house in
- 55:02Speaker 4: a way that when people walk in, it's like an
- 55:04Speaker 4: optical illusion.
- 55:04Speaker 1: That's right.
- 55:05Speaker 4: They think the table's right in front of them, but
- 55:06Speaker 4: it's actually in the distance.
- 55:07Speaker 1: It's actually miles away. They've got a real Gulliver situation
- 55:09Speaker 1: going on here, Jase. It looks like you live in
- 55:11Speaker 1: the land of the giants. Yeah.
- 55:13Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Tune in weekdays at.
- 55:18Speaker 3: 4 on Radio Hauraki. There you go, you mad bastards.
- 55:28Speaker 3: That's the big show done and dusted for you Monday.
- 55:32Speaker 3: In the podcast outro, otherwise known now as The Disclaimer,
- 55:37Speaker 3: we discussed all sorts, but what clip have you got there, Keezy?
- 55:40Speaker 1: Certainly did, Jase.
- 55:41Speaker 4: Today's clip, and the podcast itself comes out at 7.30,
- 55:44Speaker 4: was involving food. No surprises there.
- 55:48Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, there's a lot of f * * *
- 55:50Speaker 1: ing food chat around here. Yeah, man. And for the
- 55:53Speaker 1: audience out there, Believe me, it's not just on the show.
- 55:58Speaker 1: It is non-stop. Non-stop hot pot.
- 56:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:02Speaker 4: Me and Jase are wired very similar.
- 56:03Speaker 1: I can't.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Wait for Jase to get over it. Actually, we forgot
- 56:07Speaker 3: to talk about I punished Keezy.
- 56:09Speaker 1: We'll do it tomorrow.
- 56:10Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. On the chat yesterday, talking.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Him through my mail. Yeah, that's how we brought it up.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Just to annoy him because I knew he'd be hungover.
- 56:19Speaker 4: Well, I thought you were just genuinely like, oh, Keezy
- 56:21Speaker 4: would be interested in this.
- 56:22Speaker 1: No, no.
- 56:23Speaker 4: Oh, he was telling me that you were being a shit-stirrer.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Really?
- 56:26Speaker 3: Hey, Mogi, what are your plans for the night? Just
- 56:30Speaker 3: a quiet one, I'm suspecting.
- 56:32Speaker 1: Yeah, normally I have a huge one on a Monday, Jase,
- 56:34Speaker 1: as you know. Yeah, we all do. But I had
- 56:35Speaker 1: a few over the weekend. I just need one more
- 56:38Speaker 1: sleep and then I'll be brand new. Before I came
- 56:40Speaker 1: in today, I went and had a sauna over the road,
- 56:43Speaker 1: and that really helped me out.
- 56:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I.
- 56:47Speaker 1: You don't like saunas, James?
- 56:48Speaker 3: No, but I actually, I think I do, Mogi, and
- 56:51Speaker 3: I've got one downstairs for God's sake.
- 56:53Speaker 1: You're mad for not using it. I'd be in that
- 56:54Speaker 1: bastard every day.
- 56:55Speaker 3: I really am. I'm going to start using it.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Yeah, get into it. So I'll go home. I might
- 56:59Speaker 1: watch something on the old telly there, and she'll be
- 57:01Speaker 1: lights out for me. I've got that dumpling soup to
- 57:04Speaker 1: look forward to, that dumpling salad. The frozen dumplings. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:08Speaker 1: So I'll rip into those bastards, and then I'll be
- 57:11Speaker 1: in the sack. The old fart sack, they call it, Keezy.
- 57:13Speaker 1: What about you, brother? What are you up to tonight?
- 57:16Speaker 5: Uh, what?
- 57:16Speaker 3: Pork mince larb.
- 57:17Speaker 4: To be honest, yeah, I'm not sure if I have to,
- 57:19Speaker 4: because my wife said we're supposed to be having pork larb.
- 57:23Speaker 4: But based on the text, it's either I'm going to
- 57:25Speaker 4: have to pick something up or I'll have to cook it.
- 57:28Speaker 4: We've got the ingredient and it is yum.
- 57:29Speaker 3: Is it?
- 57:30Speaker 1: It is yum.
- 57:31Speaker 4: I can tell she's just probably had a big day
- 57:32Speaker 4: or something.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been a busy day.
- 57:34Speaker 4: Is that what you feel like?
- 57:35Speaker 1: Because you were hungover yesterday too. Yeah. Is that what
- 57:39Speaker 1: sounds good to you?
- 57:40Speaker 3: A lab?
- 57:41Speaker 4: Yeah. My wife makes a delicious lab.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Great. Bit of Kewpie mayo on there at the end
- 57:45Speaker 1: and a little bit of hot sauce. Delicious.
- 57:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and then she'll probably go to bed. I'll probably
- 57:49Speaker 4: go online with the fellas.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Doosh, doosh, doosh. What are you doing, Jase?
- 57:54Speaker 3: Good question there, Keezy. Very, very good question.
- 57:57Speaker 1: We need to come up with a new question for Jase.
- 57:59Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 58:00Speaker 4: What's two plus two?
- 58:01Speaker 3: Five.
- 58:02Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff. Hey, see you tomorrow at four.
- 58:04Speaker 3: Bye.
