- 0:58Speaker 6: segment on.
- 0:58Speaker 7: This episode of It's Not Your Color, Kashan gave birth
- 1:02Speaker 7: to her baby, Kashan. She went on live and had
- 1:07Speaker 7: this baby, and I'm talking about she hit like three
- 1:09Speaker 7: hundred k like over that named the baby after her
- 1:12Speaker 7: did not give the baby last name. Matter of fact,
- 1:14Speaker 7: Blue was not even there. He was posting up in
- 1:17Speaker 7: uh in Miami. You know, Kashawan Get is discharged from
- 1:20Speaker 7: the hospital or whatever like that, so she posts at
- 1:22Speaker 7: her home gym.
- 1:23Speaker 6: Her family was holding the baby.
- 1:24Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:24Speaker 6: Blue Face sees that and says, hey, I need you to.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Stop all that, and you need to quit let everybody
- 1:29Speaker 2: hold my baby.
- 1:30Speaker 5: And if you don't stop it, in thirty days, I'm
- 1:32Speaker 5: going to the man cussy.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Nobody taking my baby from me.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Y'all, this is all planned for content.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I don't think it's fake.
- 1:39Speaker 8: I think people in general, so in general, are so
- 1:42Speaker 8: infatuated with toxic things.
- 1:45Speaker 6: And not only him, his mama too, because now she
- 1:47Speaker 6: says that they're kissing.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Cousins his cousin.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Wait, she can.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Come to find out. Mama is a dorsy me to
- 2:02Speaker 1: my people.
- 2:03Speaker 7: And now you know, not that she's calling to dad,
- 2:08Speaker 7: you know, just to give him an update on their
- 2:10Speaker 7: baby or whatever like that.
- 2:11Speaker 6: And he's going off about little Baby.
- 2:13Speaker 7: He mad about a little baby because Krishawn did a
- 2:17Speaker 7: review on Little Baby's restaurant.
- 2:18Speaker 8: Oh my god, this man is this man is so emotional. Listen,
- 2:23Speaker 8: this is the most emotional man on the plant.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It he need to drop his nuts. I'm sorry if
- 2:29Speaker 1: I can't.
- 2:29Speaker 8: Say that, but it's like too much female stuff that
- 2:33Speaker 8: you got going on. If these girls be as crazy
- 2:35Speaker 8: over you as they do, why you gotta be the girl?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Got to be the girl too? Like why are you? Yeah,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you acting like a baby mamas.
- 2:43Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying.
- 2:44Speaker 8: So it's like, why are you why you take why
- 2:46Speaker 8: you gotta get on the internet with everything?
- 2:47Speaker 1: Or why are you so mad about it? Be the
- 2:50Speaker 1: insecurities like.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Tighten up growth please please?
- 2:56Speaker 1: I mean, but if not, hey, y'all.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Do y'all thing.
- 3:00Speaker 5: They gonna keep getting that money man.
- 3:02Speaker 6: And we're gonna keep watching.
- 3:04Speaker 8: Shout out to Krishan is a cute boy name to me?
- 3:07Speaker 6: So you did your thing and she called him Junior Solf?
- 3:10Speaker 8: Is she the baby daddy anyway?
- 3:15Speaker 1: Nigga acting like a baby woma?
- 3:18Speaker 5: Look, bro, every time you go on the internet, Chris, Shawn,
- 3:20Speaker 5: Rock and blue Face.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Because the black excellence at this point, Like, bro.
- 3:25Speaker 5: If so does our open Instagram baba steak.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Running it up? Okay, I'm okay.
- 3:32Speaker 1: They taking whatever small things that's happening and running it
- 3:35Speaker 1: up to a million?
- 3:36Speaker 6: Did he's giving his publishing back to his artists?
- 3:39Speaker 1: Listen?
- 3:40Speaker 5: Is there any publishers?
- 3:42Speaker 2: Right?
- 3:44Speaker 4: Is there any money left to collect?
- 3:46Speaker 2: Like?
- 3:47Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not an artist, so I wouldn't knowing
- 3:50Speaker 5: us he was getting though.
- 3:51Speaker 8: My only question would be, okay, so what are you
- 3:53Speaker 8: doing with the artists that you work with?
- 3:56Speaker 4: Now?
- 3:57Speaker 1: How are you doing that?
- 3:58Speaker 2: I would like to say a lot of newer artists
- 4:01Speaker 2: now are smarter and they're doing partnerships with labels of
- 4:05Speaker 2: who they signed to. So but then again, you never know.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Man, you's got still a lot of naive.
- 4:10Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, because somebody, you know, if you've broken,
- 4:13Speaker 5: somebody say you'll gonna give you half a million dollar check,
- 4:15Speaker 5: but on my own, your music, the rest of your life.
- 4:17Speaker 3: You're gonna take that half a million fucked up And
- 4:20Speaker 3: they might not.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Even say it like that.
- 4:21Speaker 8: Yeah, it's forever.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Here, here's five hundred K.
- 4:27Speaker 1: They're gonna put it in cash right in your face too.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 5: And I'm a briefcase, and I'm pretty sure the type
- 4:32Speaker 5: of artist.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Take it and change, can't forget the change.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Yes, I'll taking all of it.
- 4:37Speaker 4: I can't forget the bust that.
- 4:38Speaker 1: And you're not the only one.
- 4:39Speaker 5: I'll take it, all of it. So I don't blame
- 4:41Speaker 5: some of these artists that be in these messed up
- 4:43Speaker 5: contracts because people make decisions based on their circumstances.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Business is very but you tend to forget your circumstances
- 4:51Speaker 2: when you're smarten up later when you're making money and
- 4:53Speaker 2: you say, wait, damn, that five hundred K that I
- 4:56Speaker 2: would received is now worth two point five million. And
- 5:00Speaker 2: I would have waited and not took this and not
- 5:02Speaker 2: signed this.
- 5:03Speaker 4: But you never know. It's a catch twenty two. What
- 5:05Speaker 4: do you do? I sit on the artist side and
- 5:07Speaker 4: the label side. How do you navigate through that?
- 5:08Speaker 8: I think it also comes back to like what's really
- 5:10Speaker 8: important to you? Why are you doing it? What really matters?
- 5:14Speaker 8: Put it in a different perspective for you.
- 5:17Speaker 7: What his former artist of Mark Curry is saying that,
- 5:21Speaker 7: you know, it's kind of worthless now to have the
- 5:25Speaker 7: the publishers.
- 5:25Speaker 1: He already ran it up. He probably was like, ain't
- 5:29Speaker 1: even making.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll be forty soon, so those their fans are
- 5:34Speaker 2: older thirty years.
- 5:38Speaker 5: It just sounds like, you know, Puff is a great
- 5:40Speaker 5: business man, that's what I say. That's what it sounds like.
- 5:44Speaker 5: It just sounds like it's a great I.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Don't know, no, no I talk about for the specific
- 5:50Speaker 4: topic is that is that not snappable.
- 5:54Speaker 6: But it's snappable?
- 5:55Speaker 7: Is Deon Sanders Hey?
- 6:00Speaker 2: So Deon sand News is now ranked the twenty two
- 6:02Speaker 2: twenty two in the country for Colorado. They beat TCU,
- 6:05Speaker 2: who was just in the National Championship against Uga.
- 6:09Speaker 4: It was a good game. It was like forty something
- 6:11Speaker 4: to forty something went all the way to the wire.
- 6:14Speaker 8: Uh.
- 6:14Speaker 2: They played Nebraska this week. I will definitely be tuned in.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Shout out to Don Man for wie of those kids
- 6:19Speaker 2: in them young man, and you're not gonna talk about
- 6:21Speaker 2: some stats football. His son Shardor he had five hundred
- 6:25Speaker 2: and ten passing yards, four touchdowns. That running back though,
- 6:28Speaker 2: Man Edwards, boy, that's a bad boy.
- 6:31Speaker 3: That got a squad.
- 6:32Speaker 1: That's his son.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, he's coaching his son and looking at a lot
- 6:35Speaker 2: of his sons. One play defense and one's the quarterback.
- 6:38Speaker 2: That running back though he scored three times.
- 6:40Speaker 3: But listen, you.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Fail to forget that a lot of people thought his
- 6:44Speaker 5: son was only the quarterback.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Because of his son. Yeah, but he actually I've seen
- 6:49Speaker 4: the game.
- 6:50Speaker 2: I said, oh, he's throwing that thing and zero interceptions,
- 6:53Speaker 2: zero turnovers, no fumbles, no nothing.
- 6:55Speaker 4: That's crazy. You can tell ten yards.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I was gonna say, either you google it.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Or I watched that and started finished. I was like, damn,
- 7:04Speaker 2: they really gonna pull this shit off, man, Because.
- 7:06Speaker 5: TCU was like ranked Deon is getting a lot of love,
- 7:09Speaker 5: but I feel like he's about to start getting a
- 7:10Speaker 5: lot of hate just because.
- 7:12Speaker 2: It's gonna happen more. But I believe, so this is
- 7:16Speaker 2: the plan. I think Deon Sanders went to Florida State.
- 7:19Speaker 2: His jersey's retired there. He's arguably one of the greatest
- 7:22Speaker 2: athletes of all time. Only athlete that played in the
- 7:24Speaker 2: World Series and the Super Bowl. And I know my
- 7:26Speaker 2: Deon stats because he's one of my favorite football players him
- 7:28Speaker 2: Michael Vick. Anyway, if he does a successful season with Colorado,
- 7:35Speaker 2: he's going to.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Florida State as the head coach, telling y'all now bookt and.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Don't forget it.
- 7:40Speaker 5: They also was talking about how they was gonna get
- 7:42Speaker 5: that twenty eight million dollars if they offered to pay him.
- 7:45Speaker 4: They already received the money to pay him.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And Cody Shane tickets for the Colorado Colorado.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Who fucking goes to Colorado to watch football?
- 7:53Speaker 3: They coming down?
- 7:54Speaker 2: There are four hundred dollars. That's more than an NFL game.
- 7:58Speaker 2: The resale the reseller, the resale value for that is
- 8:02Speaker 2: four hundred dollars.
- 8:03Speaker 8: You guys are filling me up with a lot of knowledge.
- 8:05Speaker 8: I'm not the big biggest football.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I'm understanding.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Why what's up?
- 8:14Speaker 9: It's love versus money on the ball or alert show
- 8:18Speaker 9: and now it's time.
- 8:19Speaker 6: For love versus money. I'm gonna give a couple and
- 8:22Speaker 6: you let me know if they're there for the business
- 8:24Speaker 6: or is it really love?
- 8:25Speaker 7: All right, today we have Druid and Ralph Pittman business.
- 8:31Speaker 8: I'm not familiar with him, so I'll just go with
- 8:33Speaker 8: what he's saying because he seems trustworthy.
- 8:36Speaker 3: So trustworthy guy.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Ralph accuses X of proposing he adopts her son for
- 8:43Speaker 2: financial gain.
- 8:45Speaker 4: This is business. Sounds like a business transaction to me.
- 8:48Speaker 4: They ended their eight year marriage of atlantais of Atlanta.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Uh, you know, I think everything on there is strictly business.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I feel kids are off limits, but I do know
- 9:02Speaker 2: a mother knows her child and anything around her child.
- 9:07Speaker 2: So if she feels that her husband or spouse adopted
- 9:11Speaker 2: her son for financial gain, I'm more likely to say, damn,
- 9:16Speaker 2: that might be right.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 9:20Speaker 2: I don't know the context all the way through, but yeah, man.
- 9:25Speaker 4: I'm thinking business.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I'm thinking business too.
- 9:28Speaker 1: This is business.
- 9:29Speaker 9: We'll be right back with more of the Baller Alert Show.
- 9:36Speaker 9: You're listening to a special edition of The Baller Alert Show.
- 9:39Speaker 8: What's up is Cody Shane and you are now tuned
- 9:41Speaker 8: in to the Baller Alert Show.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Let's go back with the ball Alert Show. Cody Shane
- 9:46Speaker 2: is in the building. We appreciate you pulling up on
- 9:50Speaker 2: us for the people who don't know Cody Shane all
- 9:53Speaker 2: the way through. Where's Cody Shane from?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Cody Shane was born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago,
- 9:59Speaker 1: and I feel like I have a great mix of
- 10:02Speaker 1: both both cities. I love both dearly.
- 10:06Speaker 6: Where did Cody Shane come from? Is that your real name?
- 10:08Speaker 1: My name is Cody Shantio.
- 10:10Speaker 8: So Cody Shane, you just took off the end super
- 10:14Speaker 8: real name, no game, no gimmick, real game, no scrimmage.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Oh no, I've know Coachy Shane for a very long time.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I like to say we're friends. Yes, energy is crazy.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Cody Shane to me was one of the biggest stars
- 10:33Speaker 2: new stars. I remember what twenty six, sixteen, twenty.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Seventeen, really like seventeen.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Seventeen and man, I just saw I saw you in
- 10:43Speaker 2: Sprike commercials.
- 10:44Speaker 4: I just seen Cody Shane doing.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that Spike commercial. I was like, I was clapping.
- 10:48Speaker 4: I was like, wow, and what was the song?
- 10:52Speaker 8: It was that A couple of Actually for the Sprike commercial.
- 10:56Speaker 8: I auditioned for the commercial.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Oh you auditioned.
- 10:58Speaker 4: I didn't know that.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Yeah, they just gave it to you.
- 11:02Speaker 8: I put up to a random audition. I didn't really
- 11:05Speaker 8: know what was it, what it was for. Yeah, I
- 11:08Speaker 8: got I was actually on the mood board for the commercial,
- 11:13Speaker 8: like my pictures.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Wow.
- 11:14Speaker 8: And then I auditioned and they was like, man, we
- 11:17Speaker 8: love her. Got the part called it sprighte.
- 11:20Speaker 4: People did that come with?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Like free?
- 11:23Speaker 4: Did you get like free sprite?
- 11:24Speaker 5: For a while, I got.
- 11:25Speaker 1: A lot of Sprite, always drinking Sprite. I only like Sprite,
- 11:28Speaker 1: So is that still.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Market?
- 11:31Speaker 8: I wanted to always be a thing. Okay, yeah no,
- 11:34Speaker 8: but it was a really dope experience too. It just
- 11:37Speaker 8: happened so crazy and it really just all fell together
- 11:41Speaker 8: and it was one of the greatest, really really dope
- 11:46Speaker 8: like set, like Sprite, The whole crew was really dope
- 11:49Speaker 8: and shooting that was fire.
- 11:51Speaker 7: Now, for those who don't know are unfamiliar with who
- 11:54Speaker 7: you are, like, what was your claim to fame? Like
- 11:56Speaker 7: what was the song or the hit that record that
- 12:00Speaker 7: people know you from.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I think.
- 12:03Speaker 8: For me in my career, like when I first came out,
- 12:08Speaker 8: Sad and and like Dripping My Walk were two really
- 12:10Speaker 8: great songs that I think people really loved. But I
- 12:12Speaker 8: still think for me, I'm still I'm still that record
- 12:17Speaker 8: away from everything, you know what I mean. I think
- 12:19Speaker 8: one of the biggest things for me and in my
- 12:22Speaker 8: career and what really had me going so crazy is
- 12:26Speaker 8: like all the doors I opened for other female artists
- 12:30Speaker 8: just like me and in that sound and like the
- 12:32Speaker 8: girls being able to run with the guys, Like for
- 12:35Speaker 8: like three years, I was the only girl on Rolling
- 12:38Speaker 8: Loud three four years, you know, so before that was
- 12:41Speaker 8: a thing, and before that I was even thought about,
- 12:43Speaker 8: I was doing it, you know what I mean.
- 12:44Speaker 1: So I think that was my claim to fame. That
- 12:48Speaker 1: is my claim to fame is the doors I open
- 12:50Speaker 1: and how I inspire people and all the girls you
- 12:53Speaker 1: can listen to right now that say and you say, man,
- 12:55Speaker 1: that sounds like Cody a little to me.
- 12:58Speaker 6: How that's my okay? How did you get there? What
- 13:00Speaker 6: was that journey like to drip on my walk?
- 13:03Speaker 1: Around that time, everything was just more fun.
- 13:06Speaker 8: Like now everything is really like you gotta do this,
- 13:10Speaker 8: you gotta do that, you gotta be on Instagram, you
- 13:12Speaker 8: gotta be on TikTok. Back then, it was new and
- 13:14Speaker 8: it was fun, so it wasn't necessarily a method to
- 13:17Speaker 8: the madness. It was just like we're having fun, we're
- 13:20Speaker 8: being ourselves. Oh and we can post it now and
- 13:22Speaker 8: we can show what you're as many people as we
- 13:26Speaker 8: want to. Like, really, twenty sixteen I think is when,
- 13:29Speaker 8: and then the SoundCloud era was just like really heavy
- 13:32Speaker 8: and it was like way more.
- 13:34Speaker 1: In our poems, like oh my god, we can just
- 13:36Speaker 1: drop this.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Is I feel like they're just like you that came
- 13:39Speaker 2: in that SoundCloud era that got real fans still have
- 13:42Speaker 2: those fans now, whereas now it's a little bit harder
- 13:46Speaker 2: to get a fan base because people I feel like
- 13:48Speaker 2: people have so many options. I feel like the people
- 13:50Speaker 2: who kind of came up in the sound correct me,
- 13:52Speaker 2: I'm wrong. In the SoundCloud era like you, Lil YACHTI
- 13:55Speaker 2: and those are little it was a y'all fan base,
- 13:58Speaker 2: and you were one of the first mail artists that
- 14:00Speaker 2: I saw that had like die hard fans, like people
- 14:04Speaker 2: showed up for you. But my question to you is
- 14:08Speaker 2: around this time, and like I was saying, this is
- 14:11Speaker 2: all going good, are you signed at this particular moment
- 14:14Speaker 2: at that at that particular moment where you signed.
- 14:17Speaker 1: This was right when I dropped.
- 14:23Speaker 8: I dropped my first ep like right after that, like
- 14:25Speaker 8: I dropped, sad. It depends on what time you're really
- 14:28Speaker 8: talking about, because right after that I got signed.
- 14:29Speaker 1: So I got signed to signed to Epic.
- 14:32Speaker 5: Yeah, so you would signed when she came to the
- 14:34Speaker 5: radio station, right, yes.
- 14:36Speaker 8: But the deal I had was so it was such
- 14:39Speaker 8: a great deal. In my favorite shout out to Epic,
- 14:41Speaker 8: I love you guys forever. It was just such a
- 14:44Speaker 8: great deal on my on my part.
- 14:46Speaker 1: And if you're.
- 14:48Speaker 8: If you're a young artist and you don't have like
- 14:50Speaker 8: a hit hit like you can have a hit in
- 14:52Speaker 8: the city, you can have a hit in your community,
- 14:54Speaker 8: but if you don't have a hit hit you can
- 14:56Speaker 8: sign to wherever. You're still moving independent, so it's not
- 15:02Speaker 8: it's not like so different, but you didn't.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I ask your question. It's not a fully private what
- 15:06Speaker 1: was the deal.
- 15:07Speaker 8: Ninety ten sinty for me, No, no, no merch like
- 15:14Speaker 8: it was just like love of course, And I'm just
- 15:19Speaker 8: open to talk about this now because it's been so
- 15:21Speaker 8: long ago. But of course I had an advance and
- 15:25Speaker 8: I was sixteen, like fifteen, you.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Know what I mean.
- 15:28Speaker 2: It's like I forgot to say this was like what
- 15:31Speaker 2: sixteen at the time too.
- 15:32Speaker 4: I forgot to say that exactly.
- 15:34Speaker 8: So if you're not giving too much, if you're not
- 15:36Speaker 8: getting too much, then you won't be giving too much.
- 15:38Speaker 1: So it's like.
- 15:40Speaker 8: I could give you one hundred thousand, but I'm only
- 15:42Speaker 8: making ten percent back, you know what I'm saying, Or
- 15:45Speaker 8: I could give you, So it's like it still was
- 15:47Speaker 8: a very run my own race type of situation, which
- 15:51Speaker 8: I was still very grateful for and amazing experience and
- 15:55Speaker 8: have relationships with people now that con change it that
- 15:59Speaker 8: has changed my life.
- 15:59Speaker 5: Sounds like those advances, how them labels get these.
- 16:03Speaker 8: Not even really not even really because it's like if
- 16:05Speaker 8: I if yeah, advances is.
- 16:08Speaker 1: How they get them.
- 16:09Speaker 8: But when you get in advance and you only given
- 16:14Speaker 8: ten percent to a to a major, but.
- 16:18Speaker 4: I don't think most people's did are that great. That's good.
- 16:22Speaker 2: That's why I'm like, so a big advance with you know,
- 16:26Speaker 2: a lower you know, with a lower ownership percentage is
- 16:30Speaker 2: probably be a lot more old on them.
- 16:32Speaker 8: Yetist much different. Okay, and yeah, shout out to l
- 16:37Speaker 8: a read. I think I think he just really really
- 16:40Speaker 8: loved me, And.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Yeah I did. That was so you were one of
- 16:43Speaker 4: the first of your kind.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Was that hard at first though, because I know you
- 16:49Speaker 2: said it was fun, but people were looking at you like, wow,
- 16:53Speaker 2: she's different. She's not usually what I would listen to.
- 16:58Speaker 2: She's dope. Were there any like issues that you came
- 17:01Speaker 2: around that came up around this timeframe.
- 17:03Speaker 8: Or what definitely dealt with a lot of people that
- 17:07Speaker 8: didn't really understand me or how to market me. Like
- 17:10Speaker 8: I've had people say like, yeah, but I don't know
- 17:12Speaker 8: how to market this. So that's understandable because when it's new,
- 17:15Speaker 8: I guess.
- 17:15Speaker 1: You should know how.
- 17:16Speaker 8: It's something that's a learning process and definitely a lot
- 17:22Speaker 8: of very competitive.
- 17:24Speaker 1: In the male world because I am a girl.
- 17:28Speaker 8: But I like girls so and I like the guys,
- 17:32Speaker 8: and I dress really nice, so the girls like me too,
- 17:34Speaker 8: and I'm cute, you know, and I'm p like, so
- 17:39Speaker 8: they don't like it.
- 17:40Speaker 1: They don't like me. I'm not.
- 17:42Speaker 8: I'm not bisexual, so I'm not. I'm just saying, like
- 17:45Speaker 8: the men, they feel away.
- 17:47Speaker 1: God, you know what I'm saying.
- 17:48Speaker 8: So it's like makes it a little bit that much
- 17:50Speaker 8: more competitive for me. Well it did in the past
- 17:53Speaker 8: and it still does today.
- 17:55Speaker 1: But I just we rally, we progress, you know what I.
- 17:59Speaker 8: Mean, bitch right, So now I want you. I mean,
- 18:06Speaker 8: you know, I've been around, but they've stolen mind too,
- 18:10Speaker 8: So how can I I can't be pissed.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I can only be real.
- 18:14Speaker 8: But it's definitely been a lot of challenges in that
- 18:16Speaker 8: and being, you know, the first to do something. I
- 18:19Speaker 8: know we've all experienced that. Like being the first to
- 18:22Speaker 8: do something, not a lot of people don't see it
- 18:24Speaker 8: or see the vision or understand it because it's like
- 18:27Speaker 8: the first time is happening. So you have to create
- 18:30Speaker 8: your own lane for something Like I feel like when
- 18:32Speaker 8: Drake first came out, we didn't understand it fully. It
- 18:34Speaker 8: was like, man, this is different. This is and he
- 18:36Speaker 8: just created his own lanes. I feel like that's just
- 18:39Speaker 8: what it takes. I do think like linking with YACHTI
- 18:43Speaker 8: in the beginning of my career was something that helped
- 18:48Speaker 8: me be a little more digestible to show like me
- 18:51Speaker 8: fit in.
- 18:53Speaker 3: How's our relationship now? You and yay.
- 18:58Speaker 1: To the whay y'all. He's a cool guy. I think.
- 19:04Speaker 8: As you get older, you outgrow and you understand things
- 19:08Speaker 8: differently and perspectives change and you learn how to swim.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, not friends, no more, that's.
- 19:16Speaker 8: I mean not It's just like you got to really
- 19:19Speaker 8: like feel away about something to have an opinion on it.
- 19:22Speaker 2: You know, I don't, no ways, Okay, So when your
- 19:26Speaker 2: deal is up with Epic, what happens then?
- 19:29Speaker 8: Man, that was the craziest time in my life, not
- 19:33Speaker 8: only because me and Epic.
- 19:36Speaker 1: When I separate and we cut.
- 19:38Speaker 8: With amazingly it was great, Like they sylvia'r own, I
- 19:43Speaker 8: love you, La, I still love you, Epic, the whole
- 19:45Speaker 8: Epic family.
- 19:46Speaker 7: That's probably why you got a good deal too, because Sylvia,
- 19:48Speaker 7: you're wrong. She look out for people.
- 19:49Speaker 8: Actually La signed me, okay, but when I got signed,
- 19:53Speaker 8: La left, so he had to leave, So then I
- 20:00Speaker 8: because then I was more he did hit right, then
- 20:03Speaker 8: I'm more so built a relationship with Sylvia, which I
- 20:06Speaker 8: always still loved her even when LA signed me. She
- 20:08Speaker 8: was great, but I build more of a relationship with
- 20:11Speaker 8: her when LA left, which I love her.
- 20:14Speaker 1: You know, yeah for sure.
- 20:15Speaker 7: Now I say that because you know she looked out
- 20:17Speaker 7: for Missy Bust like all those people.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Yeah, she's a girl's girl. Yeah.
- 20:23Speaker 4: When you when you deals up with Epic, what does
- 20:26Speaker 4: Cody Shane Shane do?
- 20:28Speaker 3: Now?
- 20:28Speaker 8: It's such a crazy time in life, not only because
- 20:31Speaker 8: of Epic, but Mattie p that I created most of
- 20:35Speaker 8: my sound with and grew with and learned so much from.
- 20:38Speaker 1: He passed away around that same time.
- 20:40Speaker 4: What year is this?
- 20:42Speaker 8: This is twenty twenty, This is like twenty twenty into twenty.
- 20:47Speaker 4: One, and this person is who to you?
- 20:48Speaker 1: This is everything to me. This is my brother and
- 20:50Speaker 1: my producer.
- 20:51Speaker 8: He put me on my first beat, he recorded my
- 20:53Speaker 8: first real song that I put out.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We recorded everything together.
- 20:57Speaker 8: This is my heart and he passed they around that
- 21:00Speaker 8: same time, and my grandfather passed away around that same time,
- 21:03Speaker 8: So it was like a very and plus I'm going
- 21:05Speaker 8: through the most crazy public breakup of my.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Life all at the same time. So it was just
- 21:11Speaker 1: a very.
- 21:14Speaker 8: Like in very very intense year for me, intense couple
- 21:18Speaker 8: of months honestly, and so I really just like took
- 21:21Speaker 8: some time to just go home and reset.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I didn't make any music for almost a year.
- 21:26Speaker 8: I just got heavy on my on my family and
- 21:30Speaker 8: had to like really reset because it was too much
- 21:33Speaker 8: happening at once. I had to take a step back.
- 21:36Speaker 8: I'm glad you did that, Atlanta US swallow you up
- 21:38Speaker 8: if you let it.
- 21:38Speaker 4: I'm glad you shared that too. That's a thank you.
- 21:41Speaker 2: You know, I'm big on mental health, so I'm glad
- 21:43Speaker 2: that you took that time because some people would have
- 21:44Speaker 2: crashed out.
- 21:45Speaker 8: No, it's important. I went through a lot, so I
- 21:48Speaker 8: had to just no phone, no nothing. It was intense,
- 21:54Speaker 8: but I'm happy to be here and yes time.
- 21:57Speaker 7: So it's twenty twenty when you got out of your
- 21:59Speaker 7: deal into twenty one, so that's kind of recent.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, pretty recent.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Okay, pretty recent.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Like the end of quarantine really when Quarantine was like ending.
- 22:10Speaker 7: Okay, so this is a new start for you, like
- 22:12Speaker 7: being independent again, or you would you sign with another label?
- 22:17Speaker 8: I really want to. I want to be like Chance
- 22:19Speaker 8: the rapper and tailor Bennett. I want to be like
- 22:22Speaker 8: I want that bag. I want to figure that out.
- 22:25Speaker 8: I want to be.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Just able to cause, like I said, when.
- 22:29Speaker 8: You don't have that record or those records, you can
- 22:32Speaker 8: signed to whatever label you want, you're still gonna be
- 22:35Speaker 8: running your ship independent into your like truly a priority.
- 22:39Speaker 8: So I don't want to go nowhere until I got
- 22:41Speaker 8: real leverage, until I'm like, na, this is what I
- 22:44Speaker 8: want and beyond that. And when I get to that point,
- 22:46Speaker 8: I still might not even want to do that because
- 22:48Speaker 8: it's like when you really got your business together and
- 22:51Speaker 8: you got great people around you that love you and
- 22:53Speaker 8: want to see you win, Like, there's no.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Why give yoursel Why give yourself away?
- 22:59Speaker 3: It's rappers and independent.
- 23:00Speaker 8: If there's a way to keep you know what I'm saying,
- 23:04Speaker 8: You your your intellectual property. If there's a way to
- 23:08Speaker 8: keep it and to maintain it and to take care
- 23:10Speaker 8: of your family in that way, why would you do
- 23:11Speaker 8: anything different if there's a way. Yeah, Chance is like
- 23:15Speaker 8: I think he has a partnership with Apple.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I might be wrong.
- 23:18Speaker 8: I don't want to be wrong, but there're out of here.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I like that.
- 23:22Speaker 8: I want to be like, you should reach out to him. Oh,
- 23:25Speaker 8: I shout out to Taylor Bennett. I really really, I
- 23:27Speaker 8: really really rock with his brother. That's for homies. So
- 23:30Speaker 8: I'm trying to soak up all the game I can.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Yeah, that's good.
- 23:33Speaker 3: What's some mistakes that you made early on in your career?
- 23:37Speaker 1: I have one question though, is Russ who's rust signed to?
- 23:41Speaker 2: I want to be like Russ and Russ used to
- 23:45Speaker 2: be signed to r c A.
- 23:46Speaker 1: That's that's the lane you see that, Like, no, you.
- 23:49Speaker 5: Don't have a lot of free games, so you.
- 23:50Speaker 8: Don't have to hear about this man for six months.
- 23:54Speaker 8: And in those six months he was in Egypt and
- 23:57Speaker 8: all around the world, you know what I mean? Like,
- 24:00Speaker 8: that's what I care about. Like, but that's what I
- 24:02Speaker 8: said earlier. It comes back around to how much does
- 24:04Speaker 8: it matter to you? Do you care about the popularity?
- 24:07Speaker 8: Do you care about? What do you care about? What
- 24:09Speaker 8: are you doing it for?
- 24:10Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 24:11Speaker 8: And that's when Oh, I'm gonna take the five hundred
- 24:13Speaker 8: thousand and the chain in the car. That's when that
- 24:15Speaker 8: perspective comes in. It's like, how much do you care?
- 24:18Speaker 8: But yeah, I love us mistakes that I made.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I think.
- 24:25Speaker 8: Not being present was present in like every moment when
- 24:28Speaker 8: I was young, Like I said, a lot of things
- 24:30Speaker 8: were fun. So I was just floating and moving and
- 24:32Speaker 8: being where they told me to be and showing up
- 24:34Speaker 8: and being great at being there so people would invite
- 24:37Speaker 8: me back. But I wasn't necessarily like totally being present
- 24:41Speaker 8: and like nurturing my relationships and the people that I
- 24:43Speaker 8: was meeting, because when you're so young, you're not really
- 24:47Speaker 8: You're just not thinking about it. Yeah, I'm just like
- 24:50Speaker 8: and I'm just having fun and oh my god, they
- 24:51Speaker 8: love this. I'm just gonna keep doing I'm just gonna
- 24:54Speaker 8: keep doing that instead of being like man like really
- 24:57Speaker 8: like soaking it up and being in these moments and
- 25:00Speaker 8: like checking on people, you know, like nurturing your relationships.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I think that's one of the biggest things.
- 25:08Speaker 8: But other than that, I'm a firm believer and everything
- 25:10Speaker 8: happens as it should. I wouldn't be the person I
- 25:13Speaker 8: am today if I didn't go through all the all
- 25:16Speaker 8: the bullshit.
- 25:17Speaker 9: We'll be right back. Stay tuned with more of the
- 25:20Speaker 9: Baller Alert Show. You're listening to a special edition of
- 25:30Speaker 9: the Baller Alert Show.
- 25:31Speaker 1: What is Cody Shane and you are now tuned into
- 25:33Speaker 1: the Baller Alert Show.
- 25:34Speaker 2: One thing I liked about you is you had a
- 25:36Speaker 2: mean merch game. Yeah, so are we gonna Are we
- 25:40Speaker 2: still doing that? We're going to do that?
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yes, I'm excited. Hold on, look at my shirt, he says,
- 25:44Speaker 1: young and vulnerable.
- 25:46Speaker 6: This is me.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I will wear your shirt all the time. I think
- 25:51Speaker 2: it was I'm Gonna get you. Yeah, I will wear it.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Was the one with you with you checked with the glass.
- 25:57Speaker 1: The Cody Shane, that was the that was the uzy
- 25:59Speaker 1: to our shirt that was fire. Yeah.
- 26:01Speaker 8: So I want to tap back in. Like I said,
- 26:03Speaker 8: I took that time to for me. So now I'm
- 26:06Speaker 8: just getting back into things and assembling the people that
- 26:10Speaker 8: I really need, and also getting comfortable and understanding being
- 26:14Speaker 8: in the driver's seat.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Of my my shit, Like okay, this is me.
- 26:19Speaker 8: Like I'm you know, really really present, really paying attention.
- 26:23Speaker 8: Really I'm doing it for me.
- 26:25Speaker 2: So so does party Shane still make good money? Like
- 26:28Speaker 2: with stream and I.
- 26:30Speaker 8: Feel like I stream very well. It's just all about marketing.
- 26:37Speaker 8: I think marketing is the biggest thing ever. If people
- 26:40Speaker 8: don't see it, they won't know about it.
- 26:42Speaker 6: Is your loyal fan base still with you.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, shout out to shangang.
- 26:47Speaker 8: Ist like that's the thing, and that's I'll bring up
- 26:50Speaker 8: Russ again like he started in those three hundred rooms,
- 26:54Speaker 8: went up to five, went up to fifteen. And those
- 26:57Speaker 8: people are like people that no matter what, if he drives,
- 27:00Speaker 8: they're gonna buy it.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Rather it's closed tickets, a book, it doesn't.
- 27:03Speaker 8: Matter what it is, they're gonna buy it because he's
- 27:05Speaker 8: been loyal to those people.
- 27:07Speaker 2: And you know, and question when you took your mental
- 27:11Speaker 2: break and you were, you know, getting your things together mentally,
- 27:15Speaker 2: did you update your fans about that or what happened
- 27:18Speaker 2: like because people were probably saying, hey, where's the music?
- 27:22Speaker 4: What we're doing?
- 27:23Speaker 8: I think that time was so detrimental to me and
- 27:27Speaker 8: so like so important and so everything that it couldn't
- 27:35Speaker 8: it just had to be about that. It couldn't be
- 27:37Speaker 8: about oh I have to make because really in all
- 27:41Speaker 8: reality and like actuality, like ten years ago, twenty years ago,
- 27:48Speaker 8: you wouldn't really have to update people, right, you know
- 27:51Speaker 8: what I'm saying, because this is life, like this is
- 27:53Speaker 8: the internet and then this is life. And when it
- 27:55Speaker 8: gets so serious to a point. It's like I shouldn't
- 27:59Speaker 8: have to, you know.
- 28:00Speaker 1: What I'm saying.
- 28:00Speaker 2: We were just Jamie Fox had to update his fan base, dude,
- 28:06Speaker 2: because he took that he was sick but he was
- 28:08Speaker 2: feeling better, and he didn't say.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Anybody that I told him.
- 28:12Speaker 5: His fan base is getting mad because this is like
- 28:14Speaker 5: the new thing on the internet. It's like you have
- 28:16Speaker 5: to publicize everything that's going on in your.
- 28:19Speaker 8: Life, and I think people have to take a step
- 28:21Speaker 8: back and realize, like you can't expect people to do
- 28:25Speaker 8: things that you don't even do, as in, like you're
- 28:27Speaker 8: not updating me, You're not updating your twelve followers about
- 28:31Speaker 8: the fact that you had a stroke or or whatever,
- 28:34Speaker 8: had a heart attack.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Why why should I have to do it? Because it's
- 28:36Speaker 1: a million of you guys.
- 28:37Speaker 8: I understand your your your love for me, but it's
- 28:41Speaker 8: like the entitlement, Like it's like, why are you publicly
- 28:45Speaker 8: apologizing that you cheated on your wife?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Who is that for?
- 28:49Speaker 8: I understand women aren't get embarrassed, but it's like there's
- 28:53Speaker 8: life and then their social media. It's like some peoples
- 28:56Speaker 8: are like totally intertwined and attached.
- 28:58Speaker 5: I think the fans of just who invested with talent now,
- 29:02Speaker 5: because I believe you know, obviously, you know I was
- 29:05Speaker 5: an adult back in the time of like Michael Jackson
- 29:08Speaker 5: and saying what that was. But I feel like if
- 29:10Speaker 5: somebody of like those artists back in the day, I
- 29:13Speaker 5: feel like they can go through things and they fans
- 29:15Speaker 5: will understand, like this person is human.
- 29:17Speaker 3: They go through things a.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Press release at the most, you know what I mean.
- 29:20Speaker 8: But like, also, don't get me wrong, like I don't
- 29:25Speaker 8: have the best communication when it comes to my fans
- 29:27Speaker 8: because again, like I am, I'm an artist, so I
- 29:30Speaker 8: like to just flow.
- 29:32Speaker 1: So it's I'm.
- 29:33Speaker 8: Not the best at it, but I thing, yeah, okay,
- 29:42Speaker 8: But I do think my fans are really firing that
- 29:44Speaker 8: way to where it's like they understand that I'm a
- 29:47Speaker 8: real person.
- 29:48Speaker 1: So shout out to the people that love me and
- 29:50Speaker 1: the new people. I am a real person.
- 29:54Speaker 6: So now what are you working on? You have new music?
- 29:58Speaker 8: Yes, I just dropped the Epece four thirty two. It's
- 30:01Speaker 8: your Last Chance to dance. I'm really really excited about it.
- 30:04Speaker 8: It's like a in the summer house vibe. It's really fire.
- 30:09Speaker 8: I've been really passionate about it. Wanting to people, wanting
- 30:11Speaker 8: to make people dance and have a good time. So
- 30:14Speaker 8: I'm really really excited about that. And then I'm working
- 30:16Speaker 8: on a more of an R and B type of
- 30:21Speaker 8: thank you. Yeah, I got some really really fire stuff.
- 30:24Speaker 8: So I'm working on like an R and B project
- 30:26Speaker 8: from for the top of the year.
- 30:28Speaker 6: I like, it's the Last Chance to Dance.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Your last chance to dance? Yeah, excite? Where'd that come from?
- 30:34Speaker 8: We actually I was making a bunch of music and
- 30:38Speaker 8: then I kind of just looked up. Me and my
- 30:39Speaker 8: homie Evans, we kind of just looked up, like, man,
- 30:41Speaker 8: let's make an house project, Like let's make something a
- 30:44Speaker 8: little more experimental, but that's still me. And then later
- 30:48Speaker 8: after the music was done, I ended up doing a party,
- 30:51Speaker 8: Me and my DJ. We ended up throwing a party
- 30:53Speaker 8: and we named it Last Chance to Dance, like at District.
- 30:57Speaker 8: So we so after just doing the party and how
- 31:00Speaker 8: that branded so nicely, like that was like such a
- 31:02Speaker 8: cool little thing, we were like, let's just make the
- 31:05Speaker 8: project sounds like like sounds for thirty two is a
- 31:09Speaker 8: frequency which music is tuned into tuned in and it
- 31:13Speaker 8: it's kind of like a just a relaxing frequency. So
- 31:16Speaker 8: we kind of made last chance to dance and installment
- 31:18Speaker 8: of that and it kind of just worked like it
- 31:20Speaker 8: just aligned.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Let it happen.
- 31:22Speaker 5: Nice.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Yeah, fire, super fire, go listen to that.
