- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello and welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Of course I'm your host, Clay and with me like
- 0:27Speaker 2: always is Katie. Katie. How are you doing this week?
- 0:31Speaker 3: Hi, guys, I'm doing I'm doing okay. My house is
- 0:35Speaker 3: on the market. So the hints why we are late today,
- 0:41Speaker 3: uh so, but this should be the latest I think
- 0:44Speaker 3: that we end up going. But yeah, things are chaotic.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Totally understandable. You know, selling a house is not easy,
- 0:57Speaker 2: so totally understandable. Now, guys, we literally just discussed right
- 1:03Speaker 2: before we went live. There's not hardly any news out there.
- 1:08Speaker 2: There is something that we are going to discuss, which
- 1:11Speaker 2: is of course the Disney layoffs. And that's really oh
- 1:16Speaker 2: my goodness, I can't talk today. That's really it. As
- 1:21Speaker 2: far as news, I joked around apparently Han Solo over
- 1:27Speaker 2: at Disney World, and of course Galaxy's Edge is getting
- 1:31Speaker 2: a lot of backlash because his wig is not like
- 1:34Speaker 2: Harrison Ford's.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah, and I saw a lot of people were like, well,
- 1:38Speaker 3: if you were gonna go completely different than you should
- 1:40Speaker 3: have just gone all the Einrich version instead. I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I've never paid I've been to Disney once, Like, I've
- 1:53Speaker 3: never paid that much attention to the way the characters
- 1:56Speaker 3: are dressed.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Well, like this is specifically supposed to be a character
- 2:01Speaker 2: that is supposed to be interacting with guests and things
- 2:04Speaker 2: like that. All. Yes, yes, but I think like, especially
- 2:12Speaker 2: with the more human characters specifically, they're trying to get
- 2:20Speaker 2: a little bit more to detail on that. Yeah, and
- 2:25Speaker 2: I think it's silly. I think it's silly. I was
- 2:28Speaker 2: waiting to see if anybody legitimately was going to make
- 2:31Speaker 2: a solo joke like, oh, if it's not Harrison Ford,
- 2:35Speaker 2: you know. But I'm so I'm glad, I'm did. I'm
- 2:39Speaker 2: glad somebody did. I'm really glad. But the layoffs there
- 2:45Speaker 2: is over I think some reports said over a thousand
- 2:51Speaker 2: employees were laid off. Some of like entire departments were
- 2:57Speaker 2: laid off, including the home entertainment. Now this is speculation
- 3:05Speaker 2: on my part, which is really scary, but I want
- 3:09Speaker 2: to know your opinion. Okay, if they laid off the
- 3:13Speaker 2: entire home entertainment department, does that mean that they are
- 3:21Speaker 2: getting ready to completely acts home entertainment releases?
- 3:30Speaker 3: I mean they've already basically acts them, Like I haven't
- 3:37Speaker 3: seen like the they tried. It was probably they tried
- 3:42Speaker 3: the Disney Plus shows to see like, oh we were
- 3:45Speaker 3: released on DVD, like let's see how people buy them,
- 3:50Speaker 3: and they're probably not going to do that again.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I would say, that's really sad. The reason why I
- 3:59Speaker 2: say is because I do believe just here recently, I
- 4:02Speaker 2: want to say, between twenty twenty four to now, there
- 4:09Speaker 2: has been a bigger resurgence of hey, I want to
- 4:17Speaker 2: get physical media, right. So, knowing that there is a
- 4:23Speaker 2: resurgent for physical media and then Disney up and just
- 4:30Speaker 2: completely destroys their internal home entertainment division, that's not cool.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think the main thing is, like people
- 4:44Speaker 3: are very used to paying Dagney. Old days, we would
- 4:48Speaker 3: pay thirty forty bucks maybe fifty bucks for twenty four
- 4:54Speaker 3: episode season of television on DVD. Now you're telling me
- 5:01Speaker 3: that they wanted to charge. I think Book a Boba
- 5:05Speaker 3: Fett was like sixty bucks, and I think the Mandalorian
- 5:09Speaker 3: seasons were close to seventy bucks for way less TV
- 5:14Speaker 3: and like almost no special features.
- 5:19Speaker 4: I was putting.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I put them on a list basically and was like, okay,
- 5:23Speaker 3: i'll see when prices drop. But I didn't even purchase
- 5:27Speaker 3: them because I was like, there's nothing here.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, that again disheartening, you know, I thought, and
- 5:41Speaker 2: this is a thought that has long since passed, because
- 5:44Speaker 2: of course we have been in the era of streaming
- 5:49Speaker 2: for quite some time. But like I as well as
- 5:55Speaker 2: I know many others, always thought that, like, oh well,
- 6:00Speaker 2: if you're going to release a movie on something like
- 6:03Speaker 2: a Netflix or a Disney Plus or an HBO Max,
- 6:08Speaker 2: there's an area in those platforms to put special features,
- 6:15Speaker 2: to put behind the scenes, to put all these other things,
- 6:19Speaker 2: and they do not do it most of the time.
- 6:25Speaker 2: You see those as marketing material. Now, as we have
- 6:31Speaker 2: seen with of course Mall Shadow Lord, we've seen a
- 6:34Speaker 2: lot of the behind the scenes talks with the animators,
- 6:39Speaker 2: with the voice actors and things like that as marketing material.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I just always thought that was a fumble for every
- 6:51Speaker 2: single streaming company, like, hey, you want more people to
- 6:55Speaker 2: subscribe specifically to your platform, you need to be putting
- 6:59Speaker 2: special features on every single product.
- 7:05Speaker 3: And I think it's like in the vein of I
- 7:10Speaker 3: feel like it's in the vein of like, oh well,
- 7:15Speaker 3: news companies are just going to pick it up and
- 7:19Speaker 3: tell what it tell us what was in the special
- 7:24Speaker 3: features anyways, So might as well just provide the whole
- 7:28Speaker 3: thing for free and get marketing out of it. Yeah,
- 7:34Speaker 3: like I get it to an extent, but like the
- 7:37Speaker 3: director's commentaries were something special. Yeah, it just sucks nowadays,
- 7:44Speaker 3: Like that's like they're becoming more and more rare, and
- 7:50Speaker 3: it just sucks because it's definitely a missed opportunity to
- 7:56Speaker 3: really connect with people and connect with fans, because there
- 8:01Speaker 3: are those people who are like I need to watch
- 8:05Speaker 3: every single director's commentary by James Cameron, like because he's
- 8:11Speaker 3: just that glorious of a filmmaker. Or Christopher Nolan would
- 8:16Speaker 3: be my pick for instance.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it sucks, It really really does. And
- 8:28Speaker 2: so of course the home entertainment I've also I have
- 8:32Speaker 2: not confirmed this, but I also heard that there is
- 8:35Speaker 2: possible Marvel Comics staff that was also let go. So
- 8:42Speaker 2: I am interested to see how much the affects everything
- 8:50Speaker 2: else that we kind of deal with here at Star
- 8:53Speaker 2: Wars Alliance.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Yeah, it says film studios, television, network, sports, park experiences,
- 9:06Speaker 3: comic books, franchising, finances, and legal So it looks like
- 9:10Speaker 3: it was across the board and the memo apparently said
- 9:13Speaker 3: this is not related to AI. Yeah, Disney says or
- 9:25Speaker 3: the rap excuse me indicated that the Marvel based cuts
- 9:30Speaker 3: could have affected it as much as eight percent of
- 9:32Speaker 3: their employees.
- 9:36Speaker 2: H okay.
- 9:41Speaker 3: There were not specific details on how these layoffs affect Lucasfilm.
- 9:45Speaker 3: The article doesn't indicate that Marvel, whose comics division produces
- 9:50Speaker 3: most of the major Star Wars comics nowadays, will be
- 9:53Speaker 3: particularly affected, both in terms of publishing comics and their
- 9:57Speaker 3: various multimedia adaptations. Yeah, exactly, and the visual developed team
- 10:07Speaker 3: in particular for Marvel Studios, basically the whole thing got
- 10:10Speaker 3: wiped ooh yeah. Basically a skeleton crew now exists in
- 10:20Speaker 3: a full time capacity, and basically they will go around
- 10:24Speaker 3: and rehire some of the employees that were laid off
- 10:29Speaker 3: on a case by case basis as independent contractors. We
- 10:36Speaker 3: love a company.
- 10:37Speaker 2: This is not how you do shit, Disney.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Yeah, And unfortunately these people will be basically forced to
- 10:44Speaker 3: go back because they don't.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Have a job. Because they have a job, and Disney
- 10:51Speaker 2: gets away with, hey, you're gonna get this much money
- 10:55Speaker 2: and no health insurance? All right, yeah, cool, you work
- 10:58Speaker 2: for me forever, But not really because I can, you know,
- 11:03Speaker 2: legally say that you had nothing to do with us
- 11:06Speaker 2: because you're just a contract yep. Oh capitalism, joy Joy.
- 11:27Speaker 3: So yeah, that was definitely a terrible thing to locker
- 11:32Speaker 3: on and see this morning. It's just, yeah, it I
- 11:41Speaker 3: don't have any good things to say, and I don't
- 11:43Speaker 3: really have any motivating things to say to make myself
- 11:46Speaker 3: feel better.
- 11:47Speaker 4: It's just.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I want to say, hopefully these people are able to
- 11:55Speaker 2: get back up on their feet. We've seen I mean,
- 12:01Speaker 2: you know, I just told you I I downloaded it
- 12:06Speaker 2: just for the fact that I was like, Okay, in
- 12:10Speaker 2: case Paramount wants to be a complete, you know, a
- 12:14Speaker 2: hole and not show this, I'm gonna grab it. Now.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I haven't watched it, that's the thing.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't grab it, so I took.
- 12:26Speaker 2: The Avatar movie. And but what I'm where I'm connecting
- 12:30Speaker 2: this is there's a lot of things happening at a
- 12:32Speaker 2: lot of different companies, and on the spot of Paramount,
- 12:42Speaker 2: I go, haha, because you're the jerks that decided not
- 12:47Speaker 2: to put this out in theaters, and that's why I
- 12:49Speaker 2: got leaked. Now, I respect everybody who made the movie
- 12:56Speaker 2: because I mean, unfortunately, of course the head of right
- 13:04Speaker 2: correct me if I'm wrong, because you're another aang another
- 13:07Speaker 2: Avatar person like me. The two that were originally involved
- 13:13Speaker 2: in creation of the Avatar are no longer working on
- 13:19Speaker 2: or didn't have anything to do with this film.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I believe they had things to do with this film.
- 13:24Speaker 3: They did not have anything to do with the live
- 13:26Speaker 3: action adaptation.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Ah okay, okay, okay. So because of that.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Sorry, guys, I had to leave my door open now
- 13:35Speaker 3: with my new Deak position because otherwise the stream yard
- 13:38Speaker 3: goes like freight take.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So it's all good. It's all good. But out of
- 13:44Speaker 2: respect of the people who worked on the film, I
- 13:47Speaker 2: have not watched it yet, but like I said, I
- 13:52Speaker 2: was like, hey, I'm gonna download it just in case,
- 13:55Speaker 2: and I'm just gonna keep it because again I also
- 13:58Speaker 2: do not have permot us, So as long as I
- 14:03Speaker 2: wait until it officially releases, then I can watch it.
- 14:11Speaker 2: But in the instance of what's going on at Disney,
- 14:15Speaker 2: like this is again another shame on you for the company,
- 14:20Speaker 2: but like it's even more so because they did this
- 14:24Speaker 2: on purpose and then actively said, oh, don't worry, guys,
- 14:30Speaker 2: we are going to still give you guys work. We
- 14:33Speaker 2: are just not going to give you benefits. Yeah, and
- 14:37Speaker 2: I feel like that's a lot worse. I hope these
- 14:41Speaker 2: guys get back up on their feet and you know,
- 14:44Speaker 2: there's you know, other places to go to. Like I
- 14:49Speaker 2: feel like in this resurgence of of course the physical media,
- 14:55Speaker 2: there's also a resurgence of you know, in work and
- 15:01Speaker 2: doing a whole bunch of other stuff. And so if
- 15:03Speaker 2: you can't work with the biggest company, hey, maybe this
- 15:07Speaker 2: is an opportunity to do something yourself or doing something
- 15:10Speaker 2: small that is a little bit more meaningful. And so
- 15:13Speaker 2: I give that encouraging word to the people who may
- 15:19Speaker 2: have been affected. So yeah, but I think that is
- 15:26Speaker 2: it for all of the news.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yes, we're going to talk about box office productions closer
- 15:34Speaker 3: to Mandolin Grogu coming out.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Gosh, it's like like a month.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it's distant tracking right now. So I figure, dude,
- 15:47Speaker 3: you're kicking you're killing me.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Get off your dummies.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I apologize, guys. My dogs are dumb. They are place.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I will say this. I will say this because your
- 16:05Speaker 2: dogs are smaller. That is not going to be nearly
- 16:10Speaker 2: as like abrasive towards anybody who was listening via podcast
- 16:18Speaker 2: compared to if it was my big dog. Yeah, he
- 16:22Speaker 2: literally barks at literally anything that is outside, so which
- 16:29Speaker 2: is also why he's not allowed in this room when
- 16:31Speaker 2: I'm recording.
- 16:34Speaker 3: I could have my desk back in the middle and
- 16:36Speaker 3: I could shut my door. That would be great, but.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Staging.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I do want to sell my house, guys, I promise,
- 16:46Speaker 3: really fed up with it already.
- 16:50Speaker 2: But yes, we will talk about predictions later. We will.
- 16:54Speaker 2: We will show these numbers when we talk about that
- 16:57Speaker 2: to see how it's kind of changed, if anything has
- 16:59Speaker 2: changed at all, I will say this hint. It's that
- 17:04Speaker 2: looking great. Uh, it was technically lower than what we predicted,
- 17:13Speaker 2: but we'll see how it goes. Again, we got a
- 17:16Speaker 2: whole month, so we want to talk about mal Oh.
- 17:23Speaker 3: Yeah, let's talk about Mare.
- 17:25Speaker 2: All right, This, of course, is the week of episodes
- 17:28Speaker 2: three and four titled Whispers in the Unknown and Pride
- 17:37Speaker 2: and Vengeance. So Whispers in the Unknown again.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Let me grab the baby monitor fast because Matt.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Had done no, you're good, you're good. When we talked
- 17:53Speaker 2: about episodes one and two, we talked about them together.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I feel like this is the same instance. We can
- 18:00Speaker 2: talk about both because again, these should be longer than
- 18:08Speaker 2: thirty minutes. People, I feel like each one of them.
- 18:12Speaker 2: That's the only downside. We're We're always saying like, hey,
- 18:15Speaker 2: we can have more content, right, we can have more
- 18:17Speaker 2: content rather than having eight episode seasons. But like if
- 18:23Speaker 2: we were to combine every single episode, this would or
- 18:26Speaker 2: like two episodes every single week, we would only have
- 18:29Speaker 2: a four episode season, so like five episodes, five episodes. Yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 2: you're right, you're right, you're right. But talking about these episodes,
- 18:43Speaker 2: how did you feel about the Like, we we don't
- 18:53Speaker 2: move the needle at all. Realistically in episodes three and four,
- 18:59Speaker 2: there is there's no new information. The only new development
- 19:05Speaker 2: that happens in these two episodes.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Is lost.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yes, is lost in and at the very end of
- 19:15Speaker 2: the episode four spoilers the Empire shows up. Yeap, that
- 19:22Speaker 2: is really it.
- 19:25Speaker 4: That's what.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I relate to what Adrian is saying in like, so far,
- 19:34Speaker 3: the only benefits that I'm seeing to this new show
- 19:38Speaker 3: is the animation style. I'm always gonna love this animation
- 19:43Speaker 3: style and the artistic developments here with like the brushstroke
- 19:50Speaker 3: animation has been super superb. The music and the style
- 19:57Speaker 3: of the show. I love that we're getting a thriller.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I do think you need more detail with a thriller,
- 20:03Speaker 3: and apparently they were not willing to expand the time
- 20:07Speaker 3: slot with it. Antelli's if you growl again, you're gonna
- 20:11Speaker 3: get smacked.
- 20:14Speaker 2: So I'm just going to actually share Adrian's words. I
- 20:19Speaker 2: did share the link with him, so he might be
- 20:22Speaker 2: showing up. He might not. That is totally fine. I
- 20:25Speaker 2: actually kind of just sprung it onto him. I didn't
- 20:30Speaker 2: even get to see if he responded, but his post
- 20:34Speaker 2: said this Maul has to be the most predictable character
- 20:37Speaker 2: in the franchise at this point halfway through the Shadow Lord,
- 20:42Speaker 2: and they just gave us more of the same, same motives,
- 20:47Speaker 2: same rhetoric, same tactics. How many apprentices are we gonna
- 20:52Speaker 2: watch him tempt to the dark side because he can't
- 20:55Speaker 2: get his revenge on his own. But hey, here is
- 21:00Speaker 2: another cool hallway scene cutting down non force users.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:08Speaker 3: I don't get wrong. I like the fight scene. I
- 21:11Speaker 3: like the hallway scenes. They look cool, But I agree.
- 21:15Speaker 2: When it comes to substance. When it comes to the
- 21:19Speaker 2: actual story, I don't like having to say, oh, hey,
- 21:26Speaker 2: three and four, nothing really happened. I don't like saying
- 21:32Speaker 2: that there.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Should be something that ees.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Yes, I feel like there needs to be something that
- 21:40Speaker 2: holds this story together. Now you can say, oh, well,
- 21:46Speaker 2: the new development in these episodes is Lawson is an
- 21:51Speaker 2: absence absentee father. Okay, like that might be used in
- 22:01Speaker 2: future episodes, but like we already know he's dedicated to
- 22:06Speaker 2: his job. So again you're you're just reiterating something in
- 22:12Speaker 2: a different way from episodes one and two. Now on
- 22:16Speaker 2: episodes three and four. You know, so that is a
- 22:20Speaker 2: problem there. You look at Mal himself. Mal is going
- 22:26Speaker 2: after these drug lords, these slumlords, these syndicates, same thing
- 22:32Speaker 2: over and over over again. And I said last week, Hey,
- 22:35Speaker 2: if it's just him doing this, I think that's okay,
- 22:39Speaker 2: But we need more story. Right now, there isn't much
- 22:46Speaker 2: more story because we already know he's already going to
- 22:52Speaker 2: attempt to persuade Devin to help him correct.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Yes, And I again go back to when we were
- 23:02Speaker 3: talking about like what we think could happen here, I go,
- 23:07Speaker 3: I'm constantly going back to like one of the things
- 23:11Speaker 3: I was like, oh, we could go season two with Kira,
- 23:13Speaker 3: for instance, I'm still in the vein of I would
- 23:17Speaker 3: have much rather seen Kira as the Apprentice and the
- 23:22Speaker 3: show have taken place six or three bby versus eighteen
- 23:29Speaker 3: bby because it's just we do feel like we're repeating
- 23:34Speaker 3: the same things. And I do get that. I feel
- 23:40Speaker 3: I feel like Filoni really wants to give Maul like
- 23:45Speaker 3: a forced gift of prophecy in like some way shape
- 23:51Speaker 3: or form, like a dark side forced prophecy gift because
- 23:56Speaker 3: he's got like all these visions.
- 24:01Speaker 4: I don't think he's hitting it no, like and.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Again that that does actually make sense with you know,
- 24:09Speaker 2: connecting the dots to like rebels and stuff. I can
- 24:14Speaker 2: I can see going I can see him going that route.
- 24:20Speaker 2: But this whole thing with Devon, you know I did.
- 24:25Speaker 2: It was a nice It was a nice little cherry
- 24:28Speaker 2: on top that she never gave him his name. But
- 24:30Speaker 2: then at the very end of their confrontation, he's like,
- 24:33Speaker 2: I'll need that back, Devon. And it makes you question
- 24:40Speaker 2: did he go ahead and do his research, was it
- 24:44Speaker 2: his vision or did he scare her enough to get
- 24:51Speaker 2: the name from her thoughts? Yeah, during that endeavor, and
- 24:58Speaker 2: it could be any of the above. That's the thing.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Not knowing is fun. But it was just a little
- 25:06Speaker 2: cherry on top that like that first confrontation was, oh,
- 25:11Speaker 2: you know, you have the luxury of knowing my name,
- 25:14Speaker 2: but I don't know yours. And he was playing coy
- 25:18Speaker 2: and doing all these things. He was being sly. I
- 25:21Speaker 2: think that's a part of this newer version of Maul
- 25:25Speaker 2: that we haven't really gotten to see. We've seen him
- 25:29Speaker 2: be a little bit manipulative with of course, uh oh
- 25:35Speaker 2: i'm i'm, I'm I'm Ezra. Yeah, but this is a
- 25:42Speaker 2: lot more calm when he was with Ezra. He's kind
- 25:47Speaker 2: of like the crazy old man, you know, he's a
- 25:52Speaker 2: little bit more He's he's more calm, more collected. He's
- 25:55Speaker 2: methodical because he's thought this stuff through. We know that
- 25:59Speaker 2: because there is a sequence of plans that are, you know,
- 26:04Speaker 2: seemingly being activated throughout these four episodes. So I do
- 26:14Speaker 2: like seeing this new version of mon I say new
- 26:18Speaker 2: as in quotations, but there is no substance. The most
- 26:28Speaker 2: intriguing thing out of the two episodes is quite possibly
- 26:33Speaker 2: two Boots and his desire to want to fulfill his
- 26:41Speaker 2: programming and say, hey, protocol says we call the empire. Hey,
- 26:47Speaker 2: this is kind of batshit crazy. We should call the empire. Hey,
- 26:53Speaker 2: you guys are doing the right thing. So I'll do
- 26:55Speaker 2: the right thing too. I'll call the Empire, call the
- 26:58Speaker 2: Empire like he does. He he mentions it like three
- 27:03Speaker 2: or four times in this of these two episodes.
- 27:06Speaker 4: And I was like, laws In what are you doing?
- 27:09Speaker 3: When he turns him off at the comm station and
- 27:12Speaker 3: he's like, y'all are y'all are going to be out
- 27:15Speaker 3: of your depth? Like I've got to call the Empire
- 27:17Speaker 3: right now that final time and he leaves him at
- 27:21Speaker 3: the communication booth. Oh no, no, somebody said turn him.
- 27:24Speaker 2: On exactly would I would have taken him with me
- 27:29Speaker 2: and I would have put him in the trunk of
- 27:32Speaker 2: the vehicle. Yeah, Like, I'm sorry. Now, it's interesting to
- 27:39Speaker 2: learn because two Boots may have struck a nerve by
- 27:43Speaker 2: the way Two Boots was talking about the Empire. He's like, okay,
- 27:47Speaker 2: so is this something of like you were wanting to
- 27:52Speaker 2: do on a personal level or is it because your
- 27:56Speaker 2: wife works for the Empire? And I'm like, dude, like
- 28:01Speaker 2: that was hysterical. Why hit so low to the belt,
- 28:06Speaker 2: you know? But again Lawson doesn't even like, he doesn't baty.
- 28:12Speaker 2: He just says, if the Empire comes over here, they'll
- 28:15Speaker 2: take over yep, and that'll be the end of it.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I like Lawson. I think Lawson is clearly in over
- 28:37Speaker 2: his head, and I feel like there's something missing with Lawson.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I do too, because I feel like this, like ooh,
- 28:51Speaker 2: good cop who is in over his head is such
- 28:55Speaker 2: a simplified, stereotypical storyline, and I'm like.
- 29:04Speaker 4: A father, like we've been here, done this.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yes, you're hitting all the boxes for literally like almost
- 29:13Speaker 2: every single cop show or cop movie yep. And it's like, Okay,
- 29:19Speaker 2: what are we missing? There needs to be something here
- 29:23Speaker 2: that helps me get attached to this character. Yes, he
- 29:27Speaker 2: has a good heart in a galaxy that is very dark.
- 29:32Speaker 3: I think we have but we have talked about how
- 29:37Speaker 3: we are tired of the father story. Is this thing?
- 29:42Speaker 3: We need something new? And especially when you're reusing I
- 29:48Speaker 3: say reusing, you're reusing a character here mal who we
- 29:53Speaker 3: know at the beginning, in the end, and most of
- 29:56Speaker 3: the middle we have learned you can fill in store reason,
- 30:00Speaker 3: make them great and still do good things. I have hope,
- 30:05Speaker 3: but I don't have a lot of faith based on
- 30:09Speaker 3: what we've seen so far. No.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I agree, I I one hundred percent agree the the
- 30:18Speaker 2: fact that we see loss in connecting the dots, but
- 30:24Speaker 2: not really like. Here's another thing, is like Master Doci
- 30:31Speaker 2: Docy literally has Jedi written all over his face and
- 30:40Speaker 2: here comes Lost and in the in the midst of
- 30:42Speaker 2: you know, the battle and everything else. Why didn't you
- 30:45Speaker 2: tell me you guys were Jedi. It's just like, dude, really.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Really really, I thought you were smart.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Like it's frustrating, it really is, And I think that
- 30:59Speaker 2: is what going to be. Like the downfall of me
- 31:05Speaker 2: not loving Losson as a character is he is such
- 31:12Speaker 2: a stereotypical cop for this show, for this universe. There's
- 31:21Speaker 2: nothing new to the character type.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:27Speaker 2: That has me going, hey, I want this character to win. Yes,
- 31:32Speaker 2: I want him to win because mal is the antagonist, right,
- 31:38Speaker 2: you all want that. Everybody wants that, but to actually
- 31:44Speaker 2: like have because don't get me wrong, you look at
- 31:50Speaker 2: every character in Star Wars. Star Wars is such a
- 31:55Speaker 2: large phenomenon within our life that you could literally ask
- 32:01Speaker 2: a thousand people and half of them would name somebody
- 32:08Speaker 2: that you've probably never heard of in Star Wars as
- 32:11Speaker 2: their favorite character. Lawson can be somebody's favorite character. But
- 32:16Speaker 2: I can tell you right now, Lawson cannot be my
- 32:19Speaker 2: favorite character because there's nothing new to him to be
- 32:28Speaker 2: a favorite character for me. And that kind of hurts
- 32:33Speaker 2: because he's supposed to be a major player in this
- 32:36Speaker 2: new show, you know, and so that kind of hurts that,
- 32:41Speaker 2: that kind of hurts his like well it let me
- 32:49Speaker 2: rephrase it. It hurts the show, not necessarily the character
- 32:56Speaker 2: and not necessarily the actor. It hurts the show.
- 33:01Speaker 3: It does because you want, like we've already been green
- 33:05Speaker 3: lit for season two here, so you know there's season
- 33:08Speaker 3: two coming. They could choose to go off and do
- 33:13Speaker 3: like we talked about, Oh we're gonna do three years
- 33:15Speaker 3: from now, and it's not gonna be on Janics Lawson
- 33:18Speaker 3: could completely disappear from the show in season two. But
- 33:23Speaker 3: you still want to make it so you relate to
- 33:26Speaker 3: the protagonist that's going on, like you're trying to convert
- 33:31Speaker 3: us and show us the antagonist's point of view. But
- 33:37Speaker 3: that doesn't really that's not gonna work for everybody, And
- 33:40Speaker 3: if you want to continue the show, you do have
- 33:44Speaker 3: to have a good protagonist at play.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Mm hm no I I one h agree.
- 33:57Speaker 4: It's a beautiful show.
- 33:59Speaker 3: It looks gorgeous. I still love all the voice actors.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Vanessa Marshall is killing its road cast. Oh gosh, I
- 34:10Speaker 3: can't remember her name, Devin's actress. Mm hmm, I love her.
- 34:20Speaker 3: She's doing a great job. Like the lightsaber fight between
- 34:24Speaker 3: her and Ma super good, super good. I loved it.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Gideon Adlon.
- 34:36Speaker 3: That is her name, obviously President all State amazing. So
- 34:48Speaker 3: like the voice cast here, it's fantastic without a doubt.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I just need more substance. Yea, yeah, the music also great.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I agree, and like I don't want people to have
- 35:10Speaker 2: to say, like, oh, but there's also a comic book
- 35:12Speaker 2: that you can get that substance in.
- 35:14Speaker 4: It's like, uh huh, I'm.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Okay with chasing a story. Like we are book nerds.
- 35:20Speaker 2: We read all the time. We are eventually going to
- 35:23Speaker 2: read the mall comic. But you are advertising this and
- 35:29Speaker 2: you're not advertising the comic. Yep this is your main thing.
- 35:36Speaker 2: This is what you want people to be drawn to,
- 35:40Speaker 2: and there's nothing there that's that's my thing. So we
- 35:47Speaker 2: have six episodes to go, six episodes, and is all
- 36:01Speaker 2: the episodes are going to be out by the time
- 36:03Speaker 2: Mando releases correct?
- 36:05Speaker 3: Yes? Correct?
- 36:06Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, so six episodes left, which means there's gonna
- 36:11Speaker 2: be three more weeks. I hope next week there's a
- 36:21Speaker 2: bit more lead up, there's I hope there is again
- 36:25Speaker 2: more substance, more story. I was just talking to a
- 36:29Speaker 2: co worker today about like what his predictions are, you know.
- 36:35Speaker 2: He he also brought up Crimson Dawn and like, oh,
- 36:41Speaker 2: you know this will eventually lead up to that. We
- 36:44Speaker 2: know that it can't be immediately after because of the timeline.
- 36:48Speaker 2: There would need to be a time jump. He also
- 36:52Speaker 2: puts the prediction out that because the Empire is now involved,
- 36:57Speaker 2: that Mal is going to cut down all of the
- 37:02Speaker 2: inquisitors and that we're gonna have a Vader versus Mall fight.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I don't believe that will happen. Correct me if I'm wrong.
- 37:14Speaker 2: There has never been a confrontation between Mal and Vader.
- 37:22Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 37:23Speaker 2: No, I don't think. Here's the thing. If there is
- 37:29Speaker 2: a confrontation between Mal and Vader, Filoni has no faith
- 37:33Speaker 2: in his own product. Correct I think that if Filone
- 37:41Speaker 2: made the decision, hey, we are going to put Darth
- 37:46Speaker 2: Vader into this season, and that is what cowers Mall
- 37:54Speaker 2: into hiding and all of that stuff, I will flip
- 37:59Speaker 2: a table, you.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Have no faith, and like you said, the next episode
- 38:05Speaker 3: is called Inquisition, so I imagine we're getting Brock next
- 38:10Speaker 3: episode and potentially the Crow inquisitor dude. We know the
- 38:17Speaker 3: Crow dude makes it out because Ahsoka kills him. Yes,
- 38:21Speaker 3: Mack could very easily die in this series, and that's
- 38:27Speaker 3: why he's uh able to be kept alive.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Uh I say kept alive. His ghost can like resurrect
- 38:39Speaker 3: in Ahsoka because a uh Daphamarion killed him for instance.
- 38:46Speaker 3: I don't know, kind of making stuff up. Yeah, but uh,
- 38:50Speaker 3: chapter five is called Inquisition. Chapter six is called Knight
- 38:53Speaker 3: of the Hunted. So definitely I'm thinking we're getting inquisitors
- 38:59Speaker 3: next episode.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so as Fall, But I think that's it.
- 39:07Speaker 2: This was a short episode. There's nothing again, no substance,
- 39:10Speaker 2: no story, nothing to really kind of deep dive into. Unfortunately,
- 39:14Speaker 2: but again it's like I think it is okay for
- 39:20Speaker 2: things to be okay. We've said this before on the podcast.
- 39:24Speaker 2: I think that this is right below Okay, so I
- 39:28Speaker 2: need the episodes to pick up.
- 39:32Speaker 4: I'm definitely right now.
- 39:35Speaker 3: This is below Bubbleffett for me right now, like Bobaffett
- 39:40Speaker 3: gave me a storyline, it gave me substance. Yeah, it
- 39:44Speaker 3: did something new.
- 39:47Speaker 2: That's true. Currently there's not really there. There's there's oh
- 39:53Speaker 2: mall oh lightsabers, and that's basically it so far. So yep, man,
- 40:01Speaker 2: that's rough. But we'll have to see how the next
- 40:05Speaker 2: three weeks are. But of course you guys can always
- 40:09Speaker 2: find me at fanboy Clay on threads and Instagram. That's
- 40:14Speaker 2: where I'm mostly gonna be at. We have decided officially
- 40:21Speaker 2: over at Ranger Alliance we are going to do every
- 40:23Speaker 2: other week for our show. It helps both Jake and
- 40:29Speaker 2: I with planning content, and we have come to learn
- 40:35Speaker 2: that the new show that we are reviewing there's not
- 40:39Speaker 2: a whole lot of Again the substance. Same thing with
- 40:44Speaker 2: here is there's like, out of a thirty minute episode,
- 40:49Speaker 2: half of it is really really good, full of story,
- 40:51Speaker 2: and the other half is kind of like, there's nothing
- 40:53Speaker 2: really there, And so we have to talk about two
- 40:56Speaker 2: episodes to really get a full episode of content when
- 41:01Speaker 2: it comes to part So we're going to have Ranger
- 41:05Speaker 2: Alliance every two weeks. Now, you guys should be getting
- 41:10Speaker 2: a new episode this week. I totally forgot to edit
- 41:16Speaker 2: and so I will be dropping it sometime between now
- 41:21Speaker 2: and Sunday, so be on the lookout for that, and
- 41:25Speaker 2: then you won't see another episode for another two weeks
- 41:29Speaker 2: on the regular scheduled Monday, of course. But Katie, what
- 41:33Speaker 2: about you?
- 41:34Speaker 4: Y'all?
- 41:35Speaker 3: You can find me on most social media platforms. It's
- 41:37Speaker 3: at place of Katie this show. You can find us
- 41:39Speaker 3: on Blue Sky and Instagram, at Star Wars Alliance without
- 41:43Speaker 3: the A and the worst for important.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Don't forget it.
- 41:45Speaker 3: We may not post, but Clay and I both check
- 41:48Speaker 3: the account, so you can always shoot us a message.
- 41:52Speaker 2: We need to get better of that. We do.
- 41:54Speaker 3: We keep saying it, but we do.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Life he's getting ahead of us, guys. We yeah, I
- 42:01Speaker 2: promise you I would still be posting as much as Hey.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I'm about to get a little cameo from my daughter here.
- 42:08Speaker 2: You see her little head right here. But uh, if
- 42:13Speaker 2: I wasn't working as much, I would be posting as
- 42:17Speaker 2: much as I was. So it's it's just life is
- 42:21Speaker 2: getting ahead of us. So we will eventually get it
- 42:23Speaker 2: down and everything else. So we apologize, we do.
- 42:29Speaker 3: But you can also put that username in front of
- 42:32Speaker 3: adgenal dot com and shoot us an email. Uh, so
- 42:38Speaker 3: with that I when we wish everyone a great day
- 42:41Speaker 3: or night, whatever time of day you are listening or watching,
- 42:44Speaker 3: we will see a'all next time. It forced to be
- 42:45Speaker 3: with you.
