- 0:13Speaker 1: Duke luk k k k k k.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Luke San gentlemen, lay, I have your pa. The show
- 1:03Speaker 2: starts in nice seven to six fire shoot one go.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, this is Black Diamond and you're listening to
- 1:33Speaker 1: Basic Black at the dark. Now, this is the show
- 1:36Speaker 1: that meets you where you are and gives you what
- 1:38Speaker 1: you ask for, at least we try to every time
- 1:41Speaker 1: we come on. Tonight's episode is more than a conversation.
- 1:46Speaker 1: It's a call to action. It's a moment of truth
- 1:49Speaker 1: and tenderness and a window into a mother's unwavering fight
- 1:54Speaker 1: for her child's life. I have tonight as a guest
- 2:00Speaker 1: who may not show up tonight, and that's because she's
- 2:03Speaker 1: probably spending time with her family. And I'll tell you
- 2:05Speaker 1: a little bit more about that, but if she pops in,
- 2:07Speaker 1: we're grateful to happen. She is talented, she is a poet,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and she she's a mother. Her name is Denise. She's
- 2:16Speaker 1: known to many people as Shy Baby, and I'm gonna
- 2:19Speaker 1: read a little bit about her. She is a Chicago,
- 2:22Speaker 1: Illinois native. She went to college for business management and
- 2:26Speaker 1: accountant and she's always wanted to become an established editor.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So leshe a former foster child. She is a fibro
- 2:36Speaker 1: mi algia fighter and an abuse victim advocate. She survived
- 2:42Speaker 1: abuse in domestic violence. She married her husband in twenty
- 2:46Speaker 1: seventeen and she currently have four children. She is known
- 2:51Speaker 1: for being a free spirit with an old soul. She
- 2:55Speaker 1: has wisdom. She is being imaginative and having a pinch
- 3:00Speaker 1: for art, music, culture and books that's only found far
- 3:05Speaker 1: from any given beaten path. She began writing poetry and
- 3:10Speaker 1: short stories as a child. Her love for writing brew
- 3:13Speaker 1: as she did, and in high school, with the motivation
- 3:16Speaker 1: of some friends, she developed her first novel. Because you're
- 3:20Speaker 1: managing in high school where most kids is running around
- 3:23Speaker 1: and some maybe cutting classes and trying to get to college.
- 3:28Speaker 1: But she was really into those books, and she was
- 3:31Speaker 1: in there writing her first novel. Being a creature of
- 3:36Speaker 1: habit Lache stuck to her guns. She stayed focused, and
- 3:39Speaker 1: she worked hard to become a great novelist. But in
- 3:42Speaker 1: the summer of twenty twenty four, in June, to be exact,
- 3:47Speaker 1: she published her first book in her Rooted Child series.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Now that's the series, so you know, you got to
- 3:54Speaker 1: be looking for the rest of them. Being a part
- 3:57Speaker 1: of a number of anthologies such as the Silently Her
- 4:01Speaker 1: Inside series and one hundred Days, one hundred Nights, one
- 4:05Speaker 1: hundred Messages and Writing It and inspiring author's magazine Poetry Corner.
- 4:12Speaker 1: After realizing she had a knack for playing on words,
- 4:16Speaker 1: she came to claim her face among her other fellow writers. Currently,
- 4:22Speaker 1: and this is where I'm going to tell you she
- 4:25Speaker 1: may not be here tonight. Her youngest daughter, they call
- 4:30Speaker 1: her Cash, has been battling with heart failure. Mishee has
- 4:36Speaker 1: been busy supporting all four of her children as they
- 4:38Speaker 1: all have been facing challenges, being the sounding board and
- 4:42Speaker 1: pouring herself into writing as we face this battle with
- 4:46Speaker 1: God on our side. Mashee has been inspired by baby
- 4:50Speaker 1: Cash's journey, so inspired that she came to the conclusion
- 4:54Speaker 1: that the best way to help a toddler understand something
- 4:57Speaker 1: so life changing that happened to her before where she
- 5:00Speaker 1: could have formulated memories to write the story waiting for
- 5:04Speaker 1: the heart she needs and that's coming song. So I
- 5:07Speaker 1: can't wait to see that. I can't wait to read
- 5:10Speaker 1: it and to learn more about her journey and Cash's journey.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I know I can't even say that, I imagine I could,
- 5:18Speaker 1: just I know this has to be hard on her.
- 5:22Speaker 1: She uses her passion for writing to entertain and to
- 5:25Speaker 1: encourage others. She writes about people in situations we really
- 5:29Speaker 1: see or hear about. When she isn't writing, Leche loves
- 5:33Speaker 1: listening to music, stepping, dancing, reading or finding new books
- 5:38Speaker 1: to add to her collection. She does handcrafting. It's a
- 5:42Speaker 1: variety of goods to satisfy her crafting heart and thinking
- 5:45Speaker 1: of what to write about next. Being a mom and
- 5:49Speaker 1: a supportive presence for her children, Missus Shae also loves
- 5:53Speaker 1: being her family's mind with her soulful words or the
- 5:57Speaker 1: bellies as a great cook, because she's a great cook.
- 6:01Speaker 1: She got four kids, you know, I'm quite sure that
- 6:03Speaker 1: they come to the table and she serves it up.
- 6:05Speaker 1: She won't sugarcoat, telling it like it is. She speaks
- 6:09Speaker 1: to those that can relate to her or was afraid
- 6:12Speaker 1: to speak on the unsaving subject and the world void heroes.
- 6:17Speaker 1: It's time for someone a wead a cape, Missus Shade,
- 6:21Speaker 1: I think you've been waiting a miscape for a long time.
- 6:25Speaker 1: She still be the first to tell you that her
- 6:28Speaker 1: self care ain't all selfish. Considering them words and to
- 6:32Speaker 1: stand on and live by now, Like I mentioned that
- 6:36Speaker 1: she's not here and we were going to make a
- 6:39Speaker 1: discussion or talk about some things, and I wanted to
- 6:42Speaker 1: know from her about Baby Cash and what makes us smile.
- 6:47Speaker 1: But I've seen some pictures of Baby Cash and just
- 6:50Speaker 1: with her her being with her mother, she just likes
- 6:53Speaker 1: to pome and I believe for her mother that makes
- 6:57Speaker 1: her very special and along with the rest of her children.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I don't know what it was like when she first
- 7:04Speaker 1: learned about Baby Cash's heart transparent need, but I could
- 7:09Speaker 1: just imagine that she had to sit back down in
- 7:11Speaker 1: a chair and she had to think that that's my baby,
- 7:15Speaker 1: My baby needs heart. Where am I gonna get that
- 7:17Speaker 1: heart from? So the unfortunate thing about when your child
- 7:21Speaker 1: or anyone needs a heart, you know that somebody else
- 7:25Speaker 1: has to leave in order for you to get that.
- 7:28Speaker 1: What was your initial reaction as a mother? I wanted
- 7:31Speaker 1: to ask her, but I think I was gonna keep
- 7:35Speaker 1: that out because you can just imagine what her reaction
- 7:39Speaker 1: was like. And the doctors came in and told her
- 7:41Speaker 1: that her baby's heart was feeling talking about she's a baby.
- 7:46Speaker 1: She hadn't even spent time crawling and walking and laughing
- 7:49Speaker 1: and giggling and doing all the other little things and
- 7:52Speaker 1: being potty trained like all the other little girls. Baby
- 7:55Speaker 1: Cash is a little girl. How did her heart process
- 8:00Speaker 1: that moment? Now? My mother myself, but I can guarantee
- 8:06Speaker 1: you that she probably wanted to just rip her own
- 8:08Speaker 1: heart out and give it to her baby. The medical
- 8:12Speaker 1: teens were saying things about her condition and her timeline.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Baby Cash's still here, so she still has some time.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I couldn't imagine what a normal day look like for
- 8:24Speaker 1: baby Cash right now. But again from all the pictures
- 8:28Speaker 1: that her mother's sharing, she's getting around, she's moving up
- 8:33Speaker 1: and down and just making everybody smile. The hospital of family.
- 8:40Speaker 1: This has to be some journey for her. But I
- 8:43Speaker 1: believe that it taught her mother, and I'm hoping that
- 8:47Speaker 1: it teaches everyone else a lesson. During this time and
- 8:50Speaker 1: during any time that you spend with your children, I
- 8:53Speaker 1: notice has been the hardest part of her experience, emotionally
- 8:57Speaker 1: and physically. It can be draining running back and forth
- 9:00Speaker 1: to the hospital, not more than a labor Because you
- 9:02Speaker 1: have children at home, you have to tend to them,
- 9:04Speaker 1: you have to tend to keep in your job, you
- 9:06Speaker 1: have to continue you have to keep your mind focused,
- 9:08Speaker 1: you have to keep your mind going on the best
- 9:12Speaker 1: possible outcome for her. I'm hoping that our community is
- 9:17Speaker 1: supporting her and giving it all the support that she needs,
- 9:22Speaker 1: because this can be rough on a person, on a parent.
- 9:25Speaker 1: You delivered your baby, expecting your baby. Now we all
- 9:30Speaker 1: look at the fire fingers and the toes and the
- 9:32Speaker 1: little cute nose and everything, but there's one thing that
- 9:35Speaker 1: we can't look at, and that's inside her to see
- 9:37Speaker 1: her heart. And I'm quite sure why she was holding her.
- 9:41Speaker 1: She was just looking at her baby, not knowing that
- 9:43Speaker 1: that was anything wrong. I know that be seeing a
- 9:48Speaker 1: new heart would mean the world for her mother, but
- 9:51Speaker 1: it would mean more for cash.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Now.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Listeners, you can donate on support in any tangible ways
- 9:58Speaker 1: right now. While the medical side is so critical, I
- 10:03Speaker 1: know the emotional side is off the where the real
- 10:05Speaker 1: weight sits. I know that it is impacted her mother's
- 10:09Speaker 1: heart because it impacts me just knowing that this baby
- 10:15Speaker 1: needs a heart Before we get into any part of
- 10:18Speaker 1: the journey. I hope that we have some people that's
- 10:22Speaker 1: out there listening and taking notes and loving on your children.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I know that I would love to know some of
- 10:30Speaker 1: her favorite things what makes her light up, But again,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I think it's her mother. Every time she sees her mother,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'm quite sure she lights up the room. Now. I
- 10:41Speaker 1: know there was a time that she said something that
- 10:43Speaker 1: stood out to me that her smile gives her strength,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and that's beautiful thinking about how she can channel that strength,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and I think that she started putting it into her poetry.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Her strength is undeniable, and I know she turned that
- 11:05Speaker 1: pain into power through the poetry. Now, if you haven't
- 11:09Speaker 1: gotten some of her books, please go get them. And
- 11:12Speaker 1: I'm not saying just go get them because of what's
- 11:15Speaker 1: going on. What I'm doing to go get them because
- 11:17Speaker 1: they're worthwhile reading. That's probably one of her creative outlets
- 11:22Speaker 1: for the moment. And as I read earlier that she
- 11:26Speaker 1: turned to writing in high school and then she switched
- 11:30Speaker 1: over to poetry, and I believe that has been her lifeline.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Her writing has helped to hold space for the grief
- 11:40Speaker 1: that she's going through and it's helping her with hope
- 11:43Speaker 1: and faith. I believe in times she keeps Cash in mind,
- 11:49Speaker 1: but I believe she keeps her other children in mind too.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Without losing herself. There's just so many roles that she plays.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Right now, I'm retelling or play some of those roles
- 12:01Speaker 1: for her. She advocates for her children and she advocates
- 12:05Speaker 1: for herself. Now, most of the time, when you hear
- 12:08Speaker 1: of people who have children that are sick, or anybody
- 12:13Speaker 1: else that's in their need, they advocate for those people,
- 12:18Speaker 1: and they advocate hard. But what I liked about her,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and what I like about her is that she advocates
- 12:24Speaker 1: for herself. She don't just sit there doing nothing. She
- 12:28Speaker 1: advocates for herself. She probably sits and say, look, I
- 12:30Speaker 1: gotta get up and keep it going. My daughter, my
- 12:34Speaker 1: other children, my household. Those are things that I believe
- 12:39Speaker 1: that has inspired her in the many words that's going
- 12:42Speaker 1: through her book. That's that pen during this season, that
- 12:47Speaker 1: she continues to rank this experience as she and views
- 12:54Speaker 1: her love and her strength for motherhood. Now, I'm not
- 12:59Speaker 1: going to stay too long on here. I just wanted
- 13:01Speaker 1: to give you a little bit about lche and Cash.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna hold the space for her future, in the
- 13:11Speaker 1: future of Lechee as well as her mother. I want
- 13:16Speaker 1: to thank her for sharing some of her daughter's journey
- 13:20Speaker 1: with me, because we did speak along with her truth
- 13:24Speaker 1: and the poetry. And like I said, you gotta get
- 13:26Speaker 1: out there and see that poetry. Lsha's strength is unmatched
- 13:31Speaker 1: and Baby's cash heart is already wrapped in so much
- 13:35Speaker 1: love to our listeners. If you feel moved by this story,

- 14:30Speaker 1: small when you're help and save a life. I don't
- 14:33Speaker 1: care if you gotta go get that penny jar and
- 14:35Speaker 1: just get them penny take it to the store, cast
- 14:37Speaker 1: your men, roll them up, take them to your bank,
- 14:39Speaker 1: whatever you gotta do. Every little bit helps. It takes
- 14:46Speaker 1: money to run back and forth to the doctor. I'm
- 14:48Speaker 1: quite sure there's days that she misses work. I honestly,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you, I honestly don't believe that Lache
- 14:56Speaker 1: is the type that if you send her a donation
- 14:59Speaker 1: and she going out shopping and buying herself something. But
- 15:02Speaker 1: to take the truth, she do deserve something, but she's
- 15:05Speaker 1: gonna use that money for baby Cash because those hospital
- 15:09Speaker 1: bills gotta be paid. Y'all heard it, just like I did.
- 15:11Speaker 1: And I don't even go like to go into politics,
- 15:13Speaker 1: but y'all heard it. They make it some cuts, they
- 15:18Speaker 1: make it some healthcare cuts, and I don't think some
- 15:22Speaker 1: people are thinking about where those healthcare cuts are gonna
- 15:24Speaker 1: hurt the most. But I truly hope that they don't
- 15:27Speaker 1: reach this child right now. So please donate because you
- 15:32Speaker 1: never know when it's gonna happen, because it can happen
- 15:35Speaker 1: to you and you could be healthy, but you decide
- 15:38Speaker 1: one day your tooth is ache and you get ready
- 15:40Speaker 1: to go to the dentist can't be seen because your
- 15:43Speaker 1: health benefits was cut, so you're gonna be in pain.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Talent all abue pro friend. Whatever it is that you
- 15:50Speaker 1: gonna take is gonna minimize it. But there's nothing that
- 15:53Speaker 1: baby Cash can take right now that's gonna minimize it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Accept your donations so I wanna repeat it again. Please

- 16:20Speaker 1: So if you see it, it's saying Koda for cash
- 16:23Speaker 1: is heart. That's exactly what it's saying. And before we go,
- 16:29Speaker 1: I want to invite you all to join me. I
- 16:32Speaker 1: don't even really want to go there with us today
- 16:35Speaker 1: because I'm myself. It's choked up. And I see somebody
- 16:38Speaker 1: here saying good evening. My cousin just got a new
- 16:42Speaker 1: heart a few days ago, and congratulations with the black
- 16:46Speaker 1: diamond is good to see you. It's good to see
- 16:48Speaker 1: you too, sweetie. Please tell your family and your friends
- 16:52Speaker 1: that we have a baby. And I'm gonna tell you
- 16:55Speaker 1: one thing. She's one of our own. She's one of
- 16:58Speaker 1: our own. She needs a heart. She needs those donations
- 17:02Speaker 1: going at So instead of buying this Starbucks, instead of
- 17:09Speaker 1: going over there and buying them donuts, put them away
- 17:14Speaker 1: for a while. Added up, See what have cost you
- 17:16Speaker 1: a month for Starbucks? You can send that for baby cash.
- 17:22Speaker 1: You don't take lunch to work, You go out and
- 17:24Speaker 1: eat with your buddies. Get your buddies together and tell
- 17:27Speaker 1: them about baby Cash. Yes, I believe it too, Mantalanya.
- 17:34Speaker 1: The baby will have a new heart to I'm praying
- 17:37Speaker 1: on it for her. I'm praying that this happened soon.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I haven't been in touch with mom recently to know
- 17:47Speaker 1: where she stands with all of this and what's going on.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I'm going to give her that privacy, but I'm going
- 17:53Speaker 1: to continue to advocate for But like I said before
- 17:58Speaker 1: we go, I want to invite you to join me
- 18:00Speaker 1: in a panel of extraordinary guests on Friday, July nineteenth
- 18:07Speaker 1: at eight pm Eastern Time, right here on Basis Black.
- 18:10Speaker 1: After dark, we will continue the conversation around healing, trauma
- 18:15Speaker 1: and transformation and our cracks and the surface strengths in
- 18:18Speaker 1: the core not easily broken series. Together, we are rewriting
- 18:24Speaker 1: what strength looks like and reminding the world that even
- 18:27Speaker 1: broken things can still bloom. I want to thank you
- 18:31Speaker 1: for tuning in, and it's always thanks for keeping it basic.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I want to read some of this on the side
- 18:42Speaker 1: you're praying to thank you. Thank you, Thank you so
- 18:44Speaker 1: much for everybody praying for Lche and for baby Cash
- 18:49Speaker 1: and or family, and for all the children and people
- 18:51Speaker 1: who need hearts. I just hope that research can do more,
- 18:57Speaker 1: and sometimes some of these donations can go towards research,
- 19:02Speaker 1: so it won't get that far. When the baby is born,
- 19:05Speaker 1: they can detect it and take care of it right
- 19:07Speaker 1: then and there. They don't have to wait for a heart.
- 19:10Speaker 1: They can do something with the heart they already have.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I not thate me just talking and wish for thinking,
- 19:15Speaker 1: but look, anything is possible when God's in charge, he
- 19:19Speaker 1: can do whatever he needs to do with somebody's hands,
- 19:22Speaker 1: with somebody's mind. So I'm hoping that they're working just
- 19:27Speaker 1: as hard, and I'm hoping that she's It may sound
- 19:33Speaker 1: I'm a little prejudice of me, but I'm hoping that
- 19:35Speaker 1: she's at the top of the list because I would
- 19:39Speaker 1: love to see this little girl in person. Why she
- 19:40Speaker 1: receives her hard thank you and time. They're saying, you
- 19:45Speaker 1: agree with me, But you know what's even better reaching
- 19:48Speaker 1: out to her mom, just letting them know that you
- 19:52Speaker 1: hear her and that you're praying for her. If you
- 19:56Speaker 1: want to send me something, I'll make sure that she
- 19:58Speaker 1: gets it. I'm not talking about the money, because I
- 20:00Speaker 1: deal with anybody's money, but we want to send any
- 20:02Speaker 1: messages to her because I'm not giving out her information
- 20:07Speaker 1: here because I don't have permission. But I'm on Basic
- 20:11Speaker 1: Black after Dark. I'm under author Black Diamond on Facebook,
- 20:15Speaker 1: and you can send me the messages and I'll make
- 20:17Speaker 1: sure that she gets it. So, like I said, we
- 20:21Speaker 1: wasn't gonna talk very long because Lache's not here and
- 20:26Speaker 1: she's probably with her daughter right now, and that's okay.
- 20:30Speaker 1: See when a guest don't show up, I don't lose control.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I stay in control because I do understand that things happen,
- 20:37Speaker 1: and she has a little girl that needs her right
- 20:39Speaker 1: now a lot more than I need her to be
- 20:41Speaker 1: sitting here. So I can pass her message, I can
- 20:45Speaker 1: advocate for it and soak it all the listeners. You
- 20:47Speaker 1: all can advocate for her as well. It's not gonna
- 20:51Speaker 1: hurt for everybody to join in and advocain. I understand.
- 20:55Speaker 1: It's the fourth of July. People out there celebrate, and
- 20:57Speaker 1: you're gonna see another one next year. She's probably in
- 21:01Speaker 1: the hospital, her daughter just maybe letting her see the
- 21:04Speaker 1: fireworks from inside. So let's get these fireworks going for
- 21:10Speaker 1: her and get these donations out. I'm gonna go back
- 21:13Speaker 1: to it again, and I'm gonna say this one more time.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Www dot coda dot org slash Koda for cash is heard.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Koda c O T A f O r k A
- 21:30Speaker 1: s H s H e A r T. If anybody
- 21:36Speaker 1: want to start a go Fundme page, send me the
- 21:39Speaker 1: information and I'll send it to a mother because her
- 21:42Speaker 1: mother has to get permission for that. But please don't
- 21:46Speaker 1: start a go Fundme page and using this child's name
- 21:49Speaker 1: and collecting the money. Because I know some people out there.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yes I did go there, I went there. Do not
- 21:57Speaker 1: do a go fundme and use this child to get
- 22:01Speaker 1: the money. If you want to start a Goalfundme, you
- 22:04Speaker 1: contact her parent and let her parent decide. Mother that's
