- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to Deeply Well. This show is a soft place
- 0:06Speaker 1: to land on your journey. A space where we explore
- 0:10Speaker 1: what it truly means to live well from the inside out.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Not perfectly, but honestly. This is Deeply Well. Hey everyone,
- 0:21Speaker 1: welcome back to Deeply Well. I am Debbie Brown and
- 0:24Speaker 1: we are back this week with another Q & A episode.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I love these.
- 0:30Speaker 1: And this one is especially for those of you who
- 0:33Speaker 1: have read my book, Living in Wisdom. Hardcover, paperback, both
- 0:39Speaker 1: are in stores. This book was really created from the
- 0:44Speaker 1: depths of my heart as an invitation to deepen your
- 0:47Speaker 1: relationship with yourself, to return to the wisdom that already
- 0:51Speaker 1: lives within you and explore what it means to really
- 0:54Speaker 1: live from that place more fully. When we get the
- 0:57Speaker 1: opportunity to inhabit our bodies, it changes everything. So today
- 1:04Speaker 1: we're continuing that journey together through your questions, reflections, and
- 1:09Speaker 1: the ideas from the book that have stayed with you.
- 1:12Speaker 1: So whether there was a particular passage that opened something
- 1:15Speaker 1: within you, a practice that you've started exploring, or a
- 1:19Speaker 1: question that emerged as you moved through the book, I
- 1:22Speaker 1: want to hear all about it from you. So send
- 1:25Speaker 1: us what you've been sitting with. We may explore it
- 1:27Speaker 1: in an upcoming Q & A episode. I put a
- 1:30Speaker 1: couple prompts out on threads, on YouTube, and also Instagram. Yeah,
- 1:35Speaker 1: those are all the places I am. But for now,
- 1:39Speaker 1: let's just spend some time with some of the beautiful
- 1:43Speaker 1: questions that have already come in. So I'm going to
- 1:45Speaker 1: lean really heavily on our amazing show producer, Denisha, today.
- 1:51Speaker 1: The questions that we received today were written in. Previously,
- 1:54Speaker 1: we've used like a call-in method, which we still will,
- 1:57Speaker 1: but these were written in. So Denisha is going to
- 2:01Speaker 1: read a few questions for me, and hopefully we can
- 2:04Speaker 1: dive in deeply to some of the ways to really
- 2:08Speaker 1: be in practice and in process with ourselves.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 2:14Speaker 1: All right.
- 2:14Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Denisha, if you would please share with me the first
- 2:20Speaker 1: question that we have today.
- 2:22Speaker 2: For someone who continually starts a daily practice and then
- 2:26Speaker 2: falls away from it, how can they return with compassion
- 2:29Speaker 2: and build greater consistency?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Oh my God, I love this question. I feel like
- 2:34Speaker 1: this question is honestly the foundation of my teaching style
- 2:39Speaker 1: when I'm leading intensives or workshops or retreats. I teach
- 2:44Speaker 1: in person really, really deeply with a lot of nuance
- 2:53Speaker 1: about the process of what it truly is to slowly
- 2:57Speaker 1: build your practice. So I'm really grateful for that question
- 3:01Speaker 1: because I think that's the place we all find ourselves
- 3:03Speaker 1: in when we start. And it keeps probably 98, 99%
- 3:09Speaker 1: of people from ever trying again or locking into something
- 3:14Speaker 1: that could be really supportive and expansive for them. So
- 3:19Speaker 1: I think my advice for anyone getting started and building
- 3:26Speaker 1: a practice or someone that is looking to really reignite
- 3:31Speaker 1: and get back into something that feels consistent and evolutionary
- 3:36Speaker 1: for wherever they are in their lives, is to first
- 3:39Speaker 1: study your barriers to it. Understand what in you is
- 3:45Speaker 1: rejecting it. It's very hard to move forward, especially in
- 3:50Speaker 1: a place of like authentic investment and receiving with something,
- 3:57Speaker 1: a mechanism inside of yourself that you don't fully understand
- 4:01Speaker 1: that keeps pulling you back. And often we just notice
- 4:05Speaker 1: the feeling of, oh, I really don't like doing this
- 4:07Speaker 1: or it gives me anxiety or I feel restless or, oh,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I think too much. Yeah. So because it's not naturally
- 4:14Speaker 1: happening for me with ease, it's not for me. When
- 4:18Speaker 1: in effect, that is actually also part of the practice.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It's noticing what comes up that is keeping you from
- 4:25Speaker 1: doing something that is good for you. And I think
- 4:29Speaker 1: we can explore that in so many ways. And once
- 4:32Speaker 1: we kind of lock into a way that we understand
- 4:36Speaker 1: it even about one thing, it's so easy to then
- 4:40Speaker 1: apply that precision and experimentation to absolutely everything in your life.
- 4:52Speaker 1: But notice what exactly it is that you're feeling rejecting about.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Is it the sitting still? follow it up with your
- 5:02Speaker 1: first layer of answers of why that's an issue. Usually
- 5:05Speaker 1: if it's like restlessness or just overthinking, what I've noticed
- 5:12Speaker 1: is that the first things that start to come up
- 5:13Speaker 1: for people are, oh, I think too much. It's because
- 5:18Speaker 1: my mind is too busy. I'm type A. I have ADHD.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Or I, in some other way, I just have too
- 5:25Speaker 1: much going on. I am, you know, the pillar of
- 5:28Speaker 1: my home, the I'm a daydreamer. I'm thinking about this, right?
- 5:33Speaker 1: We come up with this list of things. And I
- 5:37Speaker 1: think that when those things first start emerging as our
- 5:42Speaker 1: answers to these questions, they seem perfectly rational, right? Like
- 5:47Speaker 1: it seems like, yeah, that makes perfect sense. I am
- 5:50Speaker 1: really busy. I'm probably busier than most people. So I
- 5:53Speaker 1: think too much or I have these things. So these
- 5:55Speaker 1: are the reasons why. And I think what becomes really
- 5:59Speaker 1: powerful is When we stop, when we slow down enough, one,
- 6:03Speaker 1: to observe it, see what it's stemming from. We also
- 6:07Speaker 1: get to see that, like, in fact, it's not that
- 6:10Speaker 1: we're just so different and so othered. It's a common
- 6:15Speaker 1: thing that anybody who's ever attempted it has pretty much faced.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's part of what the human condition is. Like, we
- 6:23Speaker 1: have been overly stimulated, overthinking by design. and constantly pulled
- 6:30Speaker 1: in such a multitude of ways, most especially in the
- 6:34Speaker 1: force feeding of this belief that we should always be
- 6:37Speaker 1: multitasking or accomplishing and accomplishing multiple things and thoughts at
- 6:42Speaker 1: the same time. So when we start to get some
- 6:45Speaker 1: of those things on paper or in front of us
- 6:48Speaker 1: more clearly, we then get to like really analyze and
- 6:54Speaker 1: notice how true any of it is or isn't.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Right?
- 6:57Speaker 1: And especially when we get to take away this kind
- 7:00Speaker 1: of egoic specialness where we think we are the one
- 7:03Speaker 1: person on earth that this isn't for because our lot
- 7:07Speaker 1: in life is just so different that there's no way
- 7:11Speaker 1: it could work for us. When we get that first layer,
- 7:15Speaker 1: just kind of like slough it off, surrender it. Then
- 7:19Speaker 1: we get to like a little deeper gooey center and
- 7:23Speaker 1: get to really explore what it is, right? So Under
- 7:26Speaker 1: that first layer, okay, you think too much, as does
- 7:30Speaker 1: every human alive. What else?
- 7:32Speaker 2: What else?
- 7:33Speaker 1: What else is keeping you from it? Oh, I don't
- 7:35Speaker 1: have time and I should be doing this or that.
- 7:39Speaker 1: You scrolled 45 minutes today. So we know you have
- 7:44Speaker 1: the time, right? Or you did X, Y, and Z
- 7:47Speaker 1: for X amount of time. We know you have the time.
- 7:49Speaker 1: We know you can find time. And I say this
- 7:52Speaker 1: for the majority of people. There is a percentage of
- 7:55Speaker 1: people who that in this moment, you might be hearing
- 7:57Speaker 1: this episode at rock bottom or at your absolute thread
- 8:01Speaker 1: bared hanging on end. And there could be literally no time.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And you know, if that's you, your body is probably
- 8:10Speaker 1: already responding to some signs of burnout. There's probably just
- 8:16Speaker 1: so many extreme things if that is your current predicament.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And for you, I would say, most especially, Do not
- 8:23Speaker 1: judge yourself and be hard on yourself. And if there
- 8:26Speaker 1: is no time, find just the brief seconds in between thoughts.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Find the moment that you don't have to be walking
- 8:35Speaker 1: fast and you notice that you are and stop and
- 8:39Speaker 1: take three deep breaths in a row and then keep going.
- 8:42Speaker 1: That might be the practice until there is space to
- 8:45Speaker 1: deepen it. But there are still things that you can
- 8:48Speaker 1: use to show up in that moment. Okay. Okay. So
- 8:52Speaker 1: that piece now plays to the side, but it's important
- 8:55Speaker 1: to know for, you know, whatever, whatever the percentage of
- 8:58Speaker 1: people listening, um, that are overburdened. However, um, for some
- 9:06Speaker 1: of us that may be in a season where there
- 9:08Speaker 1: is that spare 15 minutes, that spare 30, perhaps even
- 9:12Speaker 1: a spare 45 at some point, um, Notice when you're
- 9:20Speaker 1: giving a very simplified, dare I say, lazy answer to
- 9:26Speaker 1: why you can't do something. And then really push yourself
- 9:30Speaker 1: to come up with the real reasons. Go a little further,
- 9:34Speaker 1: dig a little deeper. It might feel a little sticky
- 9:37Speaker 1: at first, a little heavy at first, but you'll push
- 9:40Speaker 1: through it quickly. And when you do, you get to
- 9:43Speaker 1: some of those deeper layers and roots. And some of
- 9:45Speaker 1: the things that I've seen when I teach is You know,
- 9:49Speaker 1: we might climb under all of the high achieving perfectionist
- 9:53Speaker 1: type A successful layers of, you know, responses to why
- 10:02Speaker 1: there is no time and space for practice. And then
- 10:04Speaker 1: when we climb through all, all, all, all of those
- 10:12Speaker 1: kind of, those explanations, We get to a deeper layer
- 10:19Speaker 1: of maybe caring for yourself is uncomfortable because you're not
- 10:24Speaker 1: used to it and no one ever showed you how.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Or perhaps it's, you know, there wasn't enough care in
- 10:30Speaker 1: childhood and that feels sensitive. You've always had to be
- 10:34Speaker 1: the one to meet your needs. So now as an adult,
- 10:37Speaker 1: there is a piece of you that rejects that and
- 10:40Speaker 1: fights that and wants someone else to come and do
- 10:42Speaker 1: it or wants the easier solution, the different solution. very understandable,
- 10:48Speaker 1: most likely will not unfold that way. So it's important
- 10:52Speaker 1: to know if that is a barrier or a sensitivity
- 10:55Speaker 1: so we can find a workaround for it so you
- 10:57Speaker 1: still get what you need. So the investigation part can
- 11:01Speaker 1: be really, really potently powerful. And it is part of
- 11:06Speaker 1: what the practice is. It's part of, you know, when
- 11:09Speaker 1: I say things like bring creativity into your practice, your
- 11:13Speaker 1: practice can.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Be, should be creative.
- 11:16Speaker 1: It should be uniquely designed for who and what you
- 11:21Speaker 1: are in this particular time. That's what I mean. And
- 11:26Speaker 1: so the investigation is part of how you build it.
- 11:30Speaker 1: And I think for so many, that part gets bypassed
- 11:35Speaker 1: because it's too connected to judgment of you not getting
- 11:39Speaker 1: it right, you not getting it perfect at first. Just
- 11:43Speaker 1: preserve the time if nothing else is you're getting started.
- 11:46Speaker 1: And if you've identified that you have 15, 25 minutes
- 11:50Speaker 1: every day to start creating a practice in the beginning,
- 11:57Speaker 1: even on the days that you don't know what to
- 11:58Speaker 1: do or sick of doing whatever you're doing, commit to
- 12:03Speaker 1: staying in that container of time and not moving. If
- 12:08Speaker 1: you've identified a certain corner in your house, an area,
- 12:11Speaker 1: a place you're going to go to do whatever these
- 12:13Speaker 1: things are, even on the days you don't end up
- 12:17Speaker 1: doing it or feel you're not doing it right, stay
- 12:21Speaker 1: in the container of it for the exact amount of
- 12:24Speaker 1: time you promised yourself you would. That is still a
- 12:27Speaker 1: big win. Even if you're there screaming, rolling your eyes,
- 12:31Speaker 1: hating every second of it, the more you do that,
- 12:35Speaker 1: and it will not take long, the easier it is
- 12:38Speaker 1: to start to sink into and really expand into whatever
- 12:43Speaker 1: this time and space needs to be for you. Because
- 12:47Speaker 1: self-care is meant to be experienced as fuel, as the
- 12:54Speaker 1: fuel to keep you going, as the mechanism within which
- 12:59Speaker 1: you can meet your needs. And sometimes those needs are
- 13:02Speaker 1: gonna be, you are screaming into a pillow, and jumping
- 13:07Speaker 1: up and down or swaying your hips or hugging yourself
- 13:11Speaker 1: for that amount of time. Sometimes it's going to be
- 13:15Speaker 1: you're in a meditation that's making you cry and making
- 13:17Speaker 1: you uncomfortable. Sometimes you'll be in a meditation that is
- 13:21Speaker 1: making you smile and feel a peace like you've never
- 13:25Speaker 1: known or creative inspiration in a way you've never known.
- 13:30Speaker 1: We don't always know what's going to meet us in
- 13:32Speaker 1: our practice or what we're going to need it for
- 13:35Speaker 1: that day. But a thing that I found to be
- 13:37Speaker 1: deeply true is that when you commit and devote yourself
- 13:42Speaker 1: to staying with whatever that is in that process, a
- 13:48Speaker 1: need will get met that day, however it unfolds, and
- 13:53Speaker 1: something will expand inside of you. And your capacity to
- 13:57Speaker 1: hold your practice for the way you need it every
- 14:01Speaker 1: single time will stretch, stretch, stretch, stretch, stretch open. So
- 14:07Speaker 1: I think that is a really important first step in
- 14:13Speaker 1: building a practice and in connecting to a consistency that
- 14:17Speaker 1: feels really sustainable. It is imperative that you extract any
- 14:23Speaker 1: idea of perfectionism or rightness or performance or showcasing of
- 14:29Speaker 1: it or any of that to it. And just really
- 14:33Speaker 1: let Holy Spirit come in, let your body come in,
- 14:37Speaker 1: let your needs come in, let anything you've been holding
- 14:40Speaker 1: that needs to be cast off or surrendered, just let
- 14:43Speaker 1: it in and out and through and the rest will unfold.
- 14:47Speaker 1: And then you get to get really creative, right? Because
- 14:49Speaker 1: when you start meeting one need or two needs, then
- 14:52Speaker 1: you clear space and now you can approach other things.
- 14:55Speaker 1: And so Maybe in one season, your spiritual practice is
- 14:58Speaker 1: really showing up and serving you emotionally. And maybe in
- 15:03Speaker 1: another season, now that area of your life has some
- 15:06Speaker 1: space and it has some scaffolding and support to it.
- 15:11Speaker 1: So now your practice may be really focused on your
- 15:14Speaker 1: physical life and your physical self or your integrated self,
- 15:19Speaker 1: letting it change from season to season, day to day,
- 15:22Speaker 1: week to week. That is all part of the process too.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Commit to the container of the practice, but give yourself
- 15:29Speaker 1: over to how that practice wants to share itself from
- 15:33Speaker 1: day to day. Hope all that made sense. Thank you
- 15:37Speaker 1: for the question. Okay, Denisha, we are ready for question
- 15:50Speaker 1: number two, please.
- 15:52Speaker 2: How can we create an affirmation that feels personal, powerful,
- 15:56Speaker 2: and true, especially when we're struggling to find the right
- 15:59Speaker 2: words for what we need?
- 16:02Speaker 1: Ah, that's a good one. Affirmations are my jam. If
- 16:07Speaker 1: you've been following me for any amount of time, especially
- 16:10Speaker 1: dating back to like the karma gang era, um, which
- 16:14Speaker 1: started in like 2018, I think karma bliss started in 2015. Um,
- 16:22Speaker 1: affirmations I believe in with my whole soul. And I
- 16:28Speaker 1: think anything you do to speak life over in yourself
- 16:31Speaker 1: is more than enough and it's perfect. But personally, and
- 16:35Speaker 1: this is probably because I am a double Gemini and
- 16:39Speaker 1: I got ADHD. I'm a thinker and I'm a communicator.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So I am just always in my bag of words.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Like how do we use words to alchemize, to transcend,
- 16:50Speaker 1: to transform? So I like to go deeper into affirmation.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Sometimes you can hear affirmations like I am love. I
- 16:59Speaker 1: am strong. I am abundant.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Great.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I want to add like 25 words to that.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I want to have a centering statement, a mantra, a creed,
- 17:12Speaker 1: something that feels like a summoning from within that we
- 17:17Speaker 1: get to really Create from the depths of us, own,
- 17:23Speaker 1: and then add our own vibrational quality to it with
- 17:27Speaker 1: the tonality and the power of our own voice, the
- 17:32Speaker 1: authority of our own energy. So the way that I
- 17:35Speaker 1: approach affirmations and in my book and also just like
- 17:39Speaker 1: throughout my post and website, I've shared a lot of
- 17:43Speaker 1: the affirmations that I've created in extreme times of personal transformation.
- 17:50Speaker 1: And it felt like every time I was connecting to
- 17:52Speaker 1: the words and saying them out loud, they were becoming
- 17:55Speaker 1: more and more true and more lived. So I want
- 17:58Speaker 1: to give you a couple of baselines for how I
- 18:00Speaker 1: experience affirmations. One, I think it's important to expand your vocabulary,
- 18:08Speaker 1: expand your verbal world, your expressive world in what it
- 18:15Speaker 1: is that you're identifying you want to become or need. Now,
- 18:19Speaker 1: the way I approach affirmations, and I learned this particular
- 18:23Speaker 1: style originally from Drs. Ron and Mary Holnick, who have
- 18:27Speaker 1: an amazing, amazing book out called Loyal to Your Soul,
- 18:32Speaker 1: and also just had an amazing program that I did
- 18:36Speaker 1: with them for many, many years. Their system is that
- 18:43Speaker 1: They work with affirmations from a sense of harvesting different
- 18:48Speaker 1: words that represent qualities that you want to embody. What
- 18:54Speaker 1: I mean by qualities are really like an innate essence
- 18:59Speaker 1: of how you are naturally arising in real time, what
- 19:04Speaker 1: you are naturally giving out and radiating and being and
- 19:09Speaker 1: living and And quality is also in terms of characteristics.
- 19:15Speaker 1: You know, what is a character trait that you want
- 19:18Speaker 1: to own and live? What is a quality, a way
- 19:21Speaker 1: of being, a way of sharing that you want to live?
- 19:26Speaker 1: You want it to be who you are, how you give,
- 19:30Speaker 1: how you receive, how you're perceived, how you serve, you know,
- 19:38Speaker 1: in all the finite ways possible. of whatever moment in
- 19:41Speaker 1: your life you're in. So I approach affirmations from that
- 19:45Speaker 1: sense of I'm constructing a statement that is gonna be
- 19:50Speaker 1: representative of who I am becoming next, who I want
- 19:59Speaker 1: to be next, what behaviors and actions and choices I
- 20:06Speaker 1: will be making right now in real time to support
- 20:11Speaker 1: the words I'm saying to become and be and live
- 20:15Speaker 1: as this next expanded version of self. So I have
- 20:23Speaker 1: like a list of words that I work with and
- 20:25Speaker 1: they're found in the book. If you're looking on YouTube,
- 20:27Speaker 1: you can kind of see me holding them up now.
- 20:29Speaker 1: It's a lot, a lot of words, a lot of columns.
- 20:32Speaker 1: But I'm going to just read some of them out
- 20:33Speaker 1: right now. What I like to do, and again, this
- 20:37Speaker 1: activity is in my book and I think I have
- 20:39Speaker 1: it in a blog somewhere, but you want to pick,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I do a little more. I was taught like pick
- 20:47Speaker 1: two words. I'm like, pick four. What are all the things?
- 20:51Speaker 1: I would say pick a small handful of words. Don't
- 20:54Speaker 1: be an overachiever and don't try to force it all
- 20:57Speaker 1: into one thing. Simplify, but give it power. pick an
- 21:03Speaker 1: assortment of words, and then put them together in a
- 21:07Speaker 1: statement that is happening in the present moment. So if
- 21:12Speaker 1: you're picking a word like resilient or forgiving, you want
- 21:25Speaker 1: to create an affirmation that says, you know, I will forgive.
- 21:31Speaker 1: It would be, I am forgiving X, Y, and Z,
- 21:36Speaker 1: or I am living in the essence of forgiveness. You're
- 21:41Speaker 1: saying it as if not only it's already true, but
- 21:45Speaker 1: you're saying it as if it is already a felt
- 21:48Speaker 1: action and behavior that your body, brain, and heart already
- 21:53Speaker 1: know well. It's a tried and true path that you've
- 21:56Speaker 1: already been living. And so I want to find just
- 21:59Speaker 1: really quickly, maybe an example of one of the ones
- 22:01Speaker 1: I did in my book, and I'll tell you the
- 22:03Speaker 1: words that I picked. Oh, that's a good one. Let
- 22:08Speaker 1: me see. Let me try to teach this real quick.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Let's see what I got. Okay, so one of the
- 22:18Speaker 1: affirmations I wrote for myself was, I am trusting and
- 22:25Speaker 1: savoring the experiences of my life, joyfully surrendering to spirit
- 22:32Speaker 1: and effortlessly expanding my heart to all that is. When
- 22:39Speaker 1: you first hear an affirmation like that, it might sound
- 22:43Speaker 1: incredibly positive and jovial and like so lighthearted, right? almost ethereal.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I am trusting and savoring the experiences of my life,
- 22:55Speaker 1: joyfully surrendering to spirit and effortlessly expanding my heart to
- 23:02Speaker 1: all that is. That sounds like the life of someone
- 23:08Speaker 1: who things come very naturally to, that is able to
- 23:12Speaker 1: move through chaos and challenge with happiness and acceptance and
- 23:20Speaker 1: lightness of being, right? This affirmation I wrote in one
- 23:28Speaker 1: of the darkest places of my life, one of the darkest,
- 23:32Speaker 1: most grief-filled, challenging, unimaginable moments of my whole life. And
- 23:39Speaker 1: the feelings I wanted to have was that I could
- 23:42Speaker 1: really trust life was that I could trust God, was
- 23:46Speaker 1: that I could trust myself and my choices. I wanted
- 23:51Speaker 1: to be able to come into experiences, even if they
- 23:54Speaker 1: were challenging, and find a way to savor any morsels
- 24:00Speaker 1: of teaching or goodness or light or service that could
- 24:04Speaker 1: be found in them. I wanted to reorient my relationship
- 24:09Speaker 1: to the word surrender. And I didn't want it to
- 24:13Speaker 1: always feel like a falling on my knees, face pressed
- 24:17Speaker 1: against the ground, raw in agony type of surrender. I
- 24:24Speaker 1: wanted it to feel like something I could do with
- 24:27Speaker 1: one deep breath, with the twinkle of an eye, with
- 24:31Speaker 1: the hand holding on the heart, with an opening of
- 24:36Speaker 1: the full pure potentiality that's available in uncertainty. And I
- 24:43Speaker 1: wanted to be able to keep my heart open effortlessly
- 24:48Speaker 1: and keep it growing and stretching and expanding and radiating
- 24:53Speaker 1: with openness to any and everything that I met on
- 24:57Speaker 1: my path. So when I explain it this way, you
- 25:01Speaker 1: can understand that this was not about rainbows and puppies.
- 25:04Speaker 1: This was not about using positivity to bypass or, um,
- 25:11Speaker 1: dissociate from anything real or hard that was happening but
- 25:16Speaker 1: I wanted to give myself a deeper faith and a
- 25:20Speaker 1: deeper connection to the moment I was in and find
- 25:23Speaker 1: a way to experience it no matter how challenging it
- 25:28Speaker 1: was experience it in a way that there could still
- 25:35Speaker 1: be beauty in it there could still be divine miraculous
- 25:41Speaker 1: nature to its unfolding that even if it was tears
- 25:45Speaker 1: today it could be crying with still an open expectant
- 25:50Speaker 1: faithful heart to tomorrow and that both were equally valuable
- 25:56Speaker 1: the today and the tomorrow the past the today and
- 25:59Speaker 1: the tomorrow and so reading that again I My words
- 26:05Speaker 1: that I chose in this season were trust. And so
- 26:08Speaker 1: I expanded that word into trusting to fit what I
- 26:11Speaker 1: was writing. It was savor. It was joy. It was surrender.
- 26:17Speaker 1: And I believe it was expansion. But I'll say it
- 26:26Speaker 1: again here. I am trusting and savoring the experiences of
- 26:30Speaker 1: my life. joyfully surrendering to spirit and effortlessly expanding my
- 26:36Speaker 1: heart to all that is. So if you're in a
- 26:39Speaker 1: part of your journey, and I really, God, I just
- 26:41Speaker 1: really recommend this for everyone, even if you don't think
- 26:44Speaker 1: you're a writer, even if you feel uncomfortable doing things
- 26:47Speaker 1: that maybe feel this sincere or feel this emotional, or
- 27:01Speaker 1: feel maybe even this precious, right? I think for some,
- 27:05Speaker 1: something like this could even feel, I don't have a
- 27:08Speaker 1: better word for this, but maybe like too girly or
- 27:11Speaker 1: too sweet or too sensitive or whatever, whatever it feels
- 27:15Speaker 1: like for any of us, right? Notice what your barrier
- 27:18Speaker 1: to it is. Notice when your eye roll happens. Notice
- 27:21Speaker 1: when the rejection comes in or notice when the longing,
- 27:25Speaker 1: the yearning to do and feel and have something like this,
- 27:29Speaker 1: to speak to yourself in this way, to feel yourself
- 27:32Speaker 1: this way. However it's pushing and churning and poking and prodding,
- 27:37Speaker 1: just notice it, just observe it and see what that
- 27:40Speaker 1: tells you. So as you approach an exercise like this,
- 27:46Speaker 1: and it's important to also know when one feels complete,
- 27:49Speaker 1: when you've been saying it and reading it to yourself,
- 27:54Speaker 1: to a point where it actually clicks into place and
- 27:56Speaker 1: you're like, oh wow, the experiences I'm having in my
- 28:00Speaker 1: life right now are actually reflecting that this is who
- 28:04Speaker 1: I am. Then you get a chance to kind of
- 28:08Speaker 1: just live in that. It may not need to be
- 28:11Speaker 1: said or expressed every day and you can move on to,
- 28:15Speaker 1: you know, a new set of qualities or a new
- 28:18Speaker 1: category in your life that you want to focus on.
- 28:22Speaker 1: this potent word magic on and in. So start by finding,
- 28:27Speaker 1: really spending time with the dictionary, the thesaurus, a grouping
- 28:33Speaker 1: of words that feel inspiring, invocative, powerful, potent to you.
- 28:40Speaker 1: And see which ones you want to be right now,
- 28:44Speaker 1: which ones speak to a way you're trying to elevate
- 28:48Speaker 1: or transcend your in your life? What qualities do you want?
- 28:53Speaker 1: What characteristics? What experiences are you calling in? Choose the words.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Let the words change form. Get the root word, but
- 29:02Speaker 1: change it. Is it an ing at the end? Is
- 29:04Speaker 1: it an apostrophe s? Is it an er? Change the
- 29:08Speaker 1: word grammatically to whatever it needs to be to fit
- 29:12Speaker 1: your statement. And then bring it all together. Let yourself
- 29:17Speaker 1: write it out and small paragraph and then spend time
- 29:20Speaker 1: chiseling it down until it gets into maybe two or
- 29:24Speaker 1: three powerful, sovereign, authoritative statements. And then say it every day,
- 29:32Speaker 1: write it down everywhere. Keep it in the notes of
- 29:36Speaker 1: your phone, write it on a piece of paper, put
- 29:38Speaker 1: it on the mirror, put it on the door. Put
- 29:40Speaker 1: it next to your bed so you say it as
- 29:42Speaker 1: the first thing you wake up and the last thing
- 29:45Speaker 1: when you go to bed. But speak it with power
- 29:48Speaker 1: over yourself and your life as if it is already true, present,
- 29:58Speaker 1: and lived experience.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I hope you'll do that.
