- 0:00Speaker 1: So bigfoot.
- 0:01Speaker 2: So cool.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Hi, this is Lance Henderson, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:07Speaker 4: Listen if you dare.
- 0:09Speaker 3: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:12Speaker 3: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences,
- 0:16Speaker 3: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:20Speaker 5: It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show.
- 0:33Speaker 6: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:04Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:05Speaker 5: I'm Brian.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I'm Ben.
- 1:06Speaker 4: I'm Greg.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I'm Ben.
- 1:09Speaker 7: A Bo.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Bo.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I'm Dave, I think.
- 1:12Speaker 8: We're confused as usual.
- 1:32Speaker 1: What was thrown it off is we have an extra,
- 1:35Speaker 1: you know, Ben in the mix here, which you've sort
- 1:37Speaker 1: of met briefly with his Star Wars memories an episode
- 1:41Speaker 1: or two back. But, yes, we would like to welcome
- 1:44Speaker 1: Ben to the show. Now, Ben, you are, I mentioned
- 1:49Speaker 1: this previously, but you have your own show. Would you
- 1:52Speaker 1: like to go into that now? We're starting to join forces.
- 1:56Speaker 1: We're crossing over. Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 7: I wouldn't say it's my show.
- 2:01Speaker 1: You are on a show. Except for now.
- 2:05Speaker 9: There's nobody here to dispute you.
- 2:07Speaker 5: It is your show.
- 2:07Speaker 7: Oh, well.
- 2:09Speaker 10: Because the minute I say it's my show, suddenly I
- 2:12Speaker 10: have to do all of the work on it.
- 2:14Speaker 7: I prefer to be the weak link.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Paul's going to yell at you with what you're saying.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Exactly, yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 10: I'm from a little podcast right down the street called
- 2:21Speaker 10: Tower of Technobabble, which is.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Literally right down the street from me.
- 2:26Speaker 7: Literally right down the street, yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 10: And basically, long story short, there's two other guys on there,
- 2:31Speaker 10: Paul and Dave. And Paul wanted to start a blog.
- 2:35Speaker 10: Dave wanted to start a podcast. I just wanted to have,
- 2:38Speaker 10: you know, friends. So we all kind of just joined
- 2:41Speaker 10: it all.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Been working at that for years.
- 2:43Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 2:44Speaker 10: And the basic, I guess the premise of it is,
- 2:47Speaker 10: I realize that I have a lot of geeky friends,
- 2:50Speaker 10: and it seems like every single one is more of
- 2:53Speaker 10: an authority in a certain geek area than everyone else.
- 2:57Speaker 10: I have a friend of mine who's way into Buffy,
- 3:01Speaker 10: so if I ever have a Buffy question, I go
- 3:02Speaker 10: to him. I have another friend who's way into Transformers.
- 3:05Speaker 10: If I have a question about Transformers, I go to him.
- 3:08Speaker 7: I'm kind of a Doctor Who geek.
- 3:11Speaker 10: So we just kind of envisioned this little area where
- 3:15Speaker 10: we could call on geek authorities to come in and
- 3:18Speaker 10: comment on stuff hasn't really happened yet.
- 3:20Speaker 1: But that's how you said a lot of stuff but
- 3:22Speaker 1: yeah no authority has been thrown around yeah yeah well
- 3:27Speaker 1: yeah i i thought and it's it's weird because i've
- 3:30Speaker 1: known you forever for for many many a year now
- 3:33Speaker 1: but It's sad that you were like season two, and
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm like, wait, you guys have a podcast? I can
- 3:39Speaker 1: throw a rock and hit the tower, and you, why
- 3:43Speaker 1: didn't you tell me?
- 3:44Speaker 10: I didn't even know that we had a Facebook page
- 3:46Speaker 10: until you told me.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I was like, I was saying something. What a pleasant surprise.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I was saying something about our Facebook page, and you
- 3:53Speaker 1: were like, yeah, maybe we should get one of those.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I was like, you've got one of those. What the
- 3:57Speaker 1: hell is wrong with you? Yeah. You don't even know
- 4:01Speaker 1: what you've got on your show.
- 4:03Speaker 10: See, I thought that went to Google at theinternet.com. I
- 4:07Speaker 10: didn't know it was technically. The world of Google that
- 4:10Speaker 10: exists in the cyberspace. I don't get into this stuff.
- 4:13Speaker 10: I'm technically the working man's Ira Glass.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I leave that other stuff to other people.
- 4:20Speaker 11: Oh, wow.
- 4:21Speaker 10: But, you know, I have been listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 4:25Speaker 10: I've been kind of going back through the.
- 4:26Speaker 7: Back catalog, and I kept thinking, why does it sound
- 4:30Speaker 7: so familiar?
- 4:32Speaker 10: And then it occurred to me, this podcast is exactly
- 4:36Speaker 10: what it was like to work with you, Brian, and you, Greg,
- 4:39Speaker 10: at Suncoast Video 15 years ago. It's sort of like
- 4:44Speaker 10: the conversation stays the same. It's just that the movie
- 4:47Speaker 10: titles change, and... In fact, if you guys wanted to
- 4:52Speaker 10: make this just like working at Suncoast, you should stop
- 4:54Speaker 10: every five minutes to say, can I help you find something?
- 4:58Speaker 7: And then get back to whatever.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Sometimes you could get away with a nod. That was
- 5:01Speaker 1: my favorite. It said that in the pamphlet. They can't argue.
- 5:04Speaker 1: It says right there. You can sort of acknowledge them
- 5:07Speaker 1: as they come in.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Or you have to walk by the one guy that's
- 5:09Speaker 2: been at the quasi-adult films for too long.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Just to let him know you're there.
- 5:14Speaker 7: I believe that was known as sexy rangeray.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Rangeray.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Or the anime section.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got to watch the anime section. That's where
- 5:23Speaker 1: the troublemakers hang out. I mean, that really was a
- 5:26Speaker 1: big sort of building block for this show. I mean,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of stuff that I can
- 5:32Speaker 1: trace back to when I was a little kid all
- 5:36Speaker 1: the way up to, I think, a good portion of
- 5:38Speaker 1: the mechanics of how we are on this show, whether
- 5:41Speaker 1: that's good or bad is arguable. But I think a
- 5:44Speaker 1: lot of it came from that because, I mean, four
- 5:46Speaker 1: of us sitting here right now were in different stores
- 5:48Speaker 1: at the same time We all had these same basic conversations,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and the rest of all had the same conversations in
- 5:55Speaker 1: a different setting. I mean, we all went through this
- 5:57Speaker 1: same thing, and now we're just finding a way to
- 6:00Speaker 1: channel it and shove a microphone in front of it.
- 6:02Speaker 10: For the kids listening, you should probably explain what exactly
- 6:05Speaker 10: Suncoast Video was.
- 6:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it's been a while.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I don't like to give them any plugs. I know
- 6:10Speaker 1: they're out of business, but I still feel like they
- 6:12Speaker 1: should pay me if I'm mentioning them. So it's a store.
- 6:15Speaker 1: There were VHS tapes there. Go ask your grandma what
- 6:18Speaker 1: that was. Anyway.
- 6:20Speaker 2: And a LaserDisc section.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Yeah, but we all watched Laser.
- 6:23Speaker 1: We were pretty snobby because we watched Laser. I mean,
- 6:25Speaker 1: it was the only real way to watch widescreen.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Well, we were idiots because we were paying like, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 5: $ 75 a pop for LaserDisc.
- 6:32Speaker 1: This was $ 79. 99.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I got to have it. But the best were the
- 6:35Speaker 2: people that would come in and go, why they got
- 6:37Speaker 2: a record of this movie?
- 6:40Speaker 1: Because it's so good, you need the soundtrack. That's the
- 6:44Speaker 1: answer you'd give them.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Why do you need a record?
- 6:46Speaker 1: Go take it home and put it on their record player.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Why do you need a record of Logan's record? I
- 6:52Speaker 1: can't tell you how many people.
- 6:52Speaker 7: I've got to be honest with you, though.
- 6:53Speaker 10: I really grew to hate movies because of my sunko experience.
- 6:56Speaker 10: Because to my mind, movies were these small boxes that
- 7:01Speaker 10: you had to organize and alphabetize and rearrange over and
- 7:04Speaker 10: over and over.
- 7:05Speaker 1: You just didn't like it because you didn't know your letters.
- 7:07Speaker 10: I was so thankful when Netflix was invented because no
- 7:12Speaker 10: more will I have to pick up something and put.
- 7:15Speaker 7: It somewhere else.
- 7:15Speaker 1: My question is, why didn't you invent? You were right there.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You had the idea of, I don't want to put
- 7:21Speaker 1: these boxes away. Just find a way.
- 7:24Speaker 2: He even called it Netflix. That's the funny thing.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I remember that day you said that, and I was like,
- 7:28Speaker 1: what the hell's a Netflix? Stupid, stupid.
- 7:30Speaker 7: I know, I know.
- 7:33Speaker 1: All right, so, well, again, we've gotten sidetracked. It is
- 7:37Speaker 1: time for another session of the Caffeinated Movie Geek.
- 7:39Speaker 5: Cappuccino my butt. I still drink coffee.
- 7:41Speaker 12: The last fucking thing you need is another cup of coffee.
- 7:46Speaker 5: It's time for Decaffeinated Movie Geek.
- 7:50Speaker 1: We are coming to you live via digital recording from
- 7:52Speaker 1: Nancy's Bagel Grounds, where we will get together, drink coffee,
- 7:54Speaker 1: and reenact scenes from our Suncoast days. I'm going on break! Ben,
- 8:01Speaker 1: you don't know what the coffee is, but you want
- 8:03Speaker 1: to tell us anyway?
- 8:05Speaker 7: I believe it's Jamocha Slim.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Isn't that guy in your show?
- 8:09Speaker 7: It's a Skatey Girl coffee tonight.
- 8:12Speaker 1: It's actually Oregon Breakfast. So, let's keep that straight.
- 8:17Speaker 9: Oregon Trail, it's been a while.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It's not Oregon Trail. You don't have dysentery.
- 8:24Speaker 9: You lost cattle crossing the river with that coffee.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm sure they were hauling coffee in the Oregon Trail.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's got to keep them alive for Cookie to make.
- 8:33Speaker 5: It for them.
- 8:35Speaker 1: So.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Before we get into our movie, I specifically, you know,
- 8:42Speaker 1: we geared this with Bigfoot in mind. So, I mean,
- 8:45Speaker 1: my memories of Bigfoot really kind of start with Six
- 8:49Speaker 1: Million Dollar Man and, you know, the big chest plate
- 8:52Speaker 1: that I had that Bigfoot. Why I don't have that now,
- 8:55Speaker 1: as much crap as I still have from my childhood,
- 8:56Speaker 1: what the hell happened to my Six Million Dollar Man Bigfoot?
- 8:59Speaker 1: I don't know, but somebody in my family is in
- 9:01Speaker 1: trouble if I find out something new.
- 9:03Speaker 10: This is so typical of people who claim that they've
- 9:06Speaker 10: actually seen Bigfoot or have Bigfoot.
- 9:08Speaker 7: I swear, I had it in the freezer.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I don't know where it went. Oh, yeah. Anyway, so
- 9:15Speaker 1: that was kind of my first.
- 9:17Speaker 7: I'm sure you had a Bigfoot action figure.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Sure, bro. Around that time, I saw Bigfoot and Wild Boy. Again,
- 9:23Speaker 1: go ask your grandmother what that is, because I can
- 9:25Speaker 1: barely remember. So, yeah, those were sort of my early
- 9:29Speaker 1: Bigfoot memories. And I probably, you know, I have been
- 9:32Speaker 1: sort of fascinated with the footage. The sad part is
- 9:35Speaker 1: I know one of you knows the name of the
- 9:36Speaker 1: guy who shot that.
- 9:37Speaker 5: That's Roger Patterson.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You're both dorks. That's my point. My point is we
- 9:43Speaker 1: have two people here who are way more into Bigfoot
- 9:46Speaker 1: as an idea, not so much just the movie part,
- 9:48Speaker 1: but in the quote-unquote real world.
- 9:52Speaker 7: I know that I'm one of them.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Who's the other? Dave is also a self-proclaimed, do you
- 9:58Speaker 1: have a title for it? Bigfoot-ness. Do they have a title?
- 10:02Speaker 7: Are you an enthusiast?
- 10:03Speaker 2: A footsie?
- 10:05Speaker 5: Observer.
- 10:05Speaker 7: That's a different thing.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Because I observe the Bigfoot culture as well, which is
- 10:11Speaker 5: a really scary thing.
- 10:14Speaker 10: I've become so jaded that I'm actually more a fan
- 10:18Speaker 10: of the crazy personalities Look for Bigfoot rather than Bigfoot itself.
- 10:24Speaker 7: It's like a Jerry Springer in a very.
- 10:26Speaker 5: It's crazy beyond what I ever thought it would be.
- 10:29Speaker 5: And I used to think when people would say, oh, well,
- 10:31Speaker 5: you know, people who are into Bigfoot are crazy. And
- 10:35Speaker 5: I thought, well, that's because they were into Bigfoot. And
- 10:37Speaker 5: then I find out, no, they were crazy before Bigfoot.
- 10:40Speaker 5: They all exhibit all kinds of other issues and then
- 10:44Speaker 5: gravitate towards the subject. And that's the scary part.
- 10:47Speaker 9: I'm an equal opportunist. I treat all cryptids the same.
- 10:51Speaker 9: With the same dismissiveness.
- 10:54Speaker 5: I think Bigfoot exists. But I think it exists completely
- 10:58Speaker 5: independently of almost all human interaction.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I don't blame him.
- 11:03Speaker 10: I don't think You can never find Bigfoot. I think
- 11:06Speaker 10: Bigfoot is in the smile of a child.
- 11:10Speaker 7: It's in a flower blooming.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Take a picture of a smiling child. It's all blurry.
- 11:14Speaker 1: It's like, oh. Bigfoot is an ideal, if nothing else.
- 11:18Speaker 1: We did. I mean, when we did our Boggy Creek,
- 11:20Speaker 1: we accidentally fell into this really, like, sort of deep
- 11:25Speaker 1: version of what Bigfoot kind of represented.
- 11:27Speaker 10: So what do you guys think of the Boggy Creek
- 11:30Speaker 10: film as a film?
- 11:31Speaker 5: That was... Probably my primary introduction. I saw it when
- 11:35Speaker 5: it came out.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 5: I remember seeing the, they saturated every market with commercials.
- 11:40Speaker 5: This was a four-wall presentation where the producers would come
- 11:43Speaker 5: in and just rent out theaters.
- 11:45Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 5: And just hit the radio, hit the TV with ads,
- 11:48Speaker 5: and fill them up. And it'd be for maybe two
- 11:50Speaker 5: weeks max. And I saw all those commercials on WDRB
- 11:54Speaker 5: when I was a kid, and they were scaring the
- 11:55Speaker 5: hell out of me.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 5: But I was, once again, attraction repulsion. I had to
- 12:00Speaker 5: see it. I made my mom take me over to
- 12:02Speaker 5: Alpha One to see it. And I was fascinated with it.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Like I said, it's a really odd, funky, bad movie.
- 12:10Speaker 1: But at the same time, it provides this service that
- 12:15Speaker 1: is almost necessary for the Bigfoot thing to take place.
- 12:19Speaker 5: It's like the Bigfoot world. It's a docudrama.
- 12:22Speaker 10: In the world before the internet, there are Bigfoot researchers,
- 12:27Speaker 10: legitimate quote-unquote bunny ears, researchers of a certain age who
- 12:33Speaker 10: will point to that film as their gateway drug into
- 12:37Speaker 10: getting into this. Now, people that are younger, they'll point
- 12:42Speaker 10: to something like Harry and the Hendersons.
- 12:45Speaker 9: Admittedly, that's going to be me because I have just
- 12:48Speaker 9: vivid memory. That was my very first sleepover at a
- 12:51Speaker 9: friend's house. Even though it was right across the street,
- 12:54Speaker 9: it was this huge deal to me because it was
- 12:57Speaker 9: the very first time I was actually not at home.
- 13:01Speaker 9: Even though I was only like six at the time,
- 13:02Speaker 9: I still vividly remember it was Garbage Pail Kids, the movie,
- 13:06Speaker 9: followed by Harry and the Hendersons, followed by Radio Flower.
- 13:09Speaker 5: Those are the three.
- 13:11Speaker 2: That's an odd choice at the end.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yes, there's kids in it, but not really a kids
- 13:18Speaker 1: movie as you watch it.
- 13:20Speaker 5: It's just a troubling movie.
- 13:21Speaker 10: In about 10 or 15 years, the Bigfoot researchers of
- 13:25Speaker 10: the future, they're going to cite the Animal Planet show.
- 13:29Speaker 5: I know.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Probably.
- 13:31Speaker 10: That show, I can't watch it. It's not made for me,
- 13:34Speaker 10: but little kids love that show.
- 13:36Speaker 5: It's a huge hit, and it's a huge hit Because
- 13:39Speaker 5: it's the same damn thing every week.
- 13:42Speaker 1: People like that.
- 13:42Speaker 7: Well, the kids like the repetition, you know?
- 13:44Speaker 1: But that's also why I picked that as like the
- 13:46Speaker 1: first movie in the series. And granted, it's been a
- 13:48Speaker 1: couple years since we've even gotten to it. So this
- 13:50Speaker 1: is kind of the triumphant return of Bigfoot this week.
- 13:53Speaker 10: Oh, this is the movie Meltdown, this and Legends series.
- 13:57Speaker 1: It's got a series name.
- 13:58Speaker 2: We'll get to that later.
- 13:59Speaker 7: Because on our podcast, we have a similar feature. We
- 14:04Speaker 7: call it Hot for Creature. You wanted to say.
- 14:09Speaker 9: Hot for something there.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Hot creature.
- 14:12Speaker 10: So far we've only done one. We've only done something
- 14:14Speaker 10: on the public monster. And we've just been lazy. We
- 14:18Speaker 10: haven't got to part two.
- 14:20Speaker 9: I thought you were going to stop it at the Pope.
- 14:23Speaker 9: We've just done one on the Pope.
- 14:25Speaker 1: He's a strange creeper. Creeper? Depends on who you ask.
- 14:30Speaker 9: That's the new phrase these kids are using nowadays.
- 14:33Speaker 5: Creeper.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I've been described as that.
- 14:36Speaker 8: But anyway.
- 14:37Speaker 1: The, yeah, I remember starting, I specifically started with that
- 14:43Speaker 1: movie because it's also like what started the movie craze.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Like that, from that point on.
- 14:49Speaker 7: Are you talking about Boggy Creek?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Boggy Creek, you were saturated with these, you know, cheap made,
- 14:54Speaker 1: you know, straight to the drive-in and later straight to
- 14:56Speaker 1: VHS and now straight to Netflix. I mean, it's like,
- 14:59Speaker 1: it's an ongoing trend. thing and it that's the thing
- 15:02Speaker 1: i i got out of the loop after you know
- 15:04Speaker 1: six million dollar man probably and just sort of every
- 15:06Speaker 1: once in a while i'll go oh that's interesting and
- 15:08Speaker 1: then was looking at the video store one day and
- 15:09Speaker 1: was just like look at all these bigfoot movies and
- 15:12Speaker 1: i was just sort of fascinated at the number of
- 15:15Speaker 1: them and that everybody sort of has a different look
- 15:18Speaker 1: and everybody takes a different you know spin on the
- 15:21Speaker 1: story so i was just like it would be kind
- 15:23Speaker 1: of cool to look at you know the bulk of
- 15:25Speaker 1: it to do a running series and actually kind of
- 15:27Speaker 1: go through and and figure out what the hell the
- 15:29Speaker 1: appeal is, and why we need to keep making all
- 15:31Speaker 1: these Bigfoot movies.
- 15:33Speaker 7: Probably because it's cheap to rent a monkey suit and
- 15:36Speaker 7: get a camera.
- 15:37Speaker 1: That's one of the many aspects of it.
- 15:40Speaker 5: He's a really accessible monster. You can see Bigfoot anywhere
- 15:43Speaker 5: you like. And therefore, you can plug him into any plot,
- 15:47Speaker 5: and people respond.
- 15:49Speaker 7: Star Wars.
- 15:50Speaker 5: You know, it's also.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I know Bigfoot is.
- 15:57Speaker 2: An international superstar. It applies in many different countries under
- 16:04Speaker 2: different names, but especially it's that continuation of manifest destiny
- 16:10Speaker 2: that we can't physically have anymore other than the moon
- 16:13Speaker 2: or something like that. That loss of wilderness, loss of
- 16:18Speaker 2: that Americans no longer have that next frontier. And so
- 16:21Speaker 2: we have to cling to that. It's got to be
- 16:24Speaker 2: out there somewhere. in our tangible physical space for us
- 16:31Speaker 2: to still believe that wilderness is there as well.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I think that's what keeps driving that myth for a
- 16:38Speaker 1: lot of people.
- 16:39Speaker 10: When I was a kid, I really liked the idea
- 16:42Speaker 10: that there could be something out there that science says, no,
- 16:46Speaker 10: we've found everything.
- 16:47Speaker 7: I love the.
- 16:48Speaker 10: Idea that there could be something that big that they
- 16:50Speaker 10: just hadn't found yet.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I don't know. So is there anything else we need
- 16:55Speaker 1: to get in regular Bigfoot information before we get to
- 16:58Speaker 1: the ridiculous movies?
- 16:59Speaker 7: Well, you see, that's just it.
- 17:01Speaker 10: The regular Bigfoot information feeds right into the ridiculous.
- 17:06Speaker 5: Yeah, Bigfoot has become, once again, it's cyclical, but we're
- 17:10Speaker 5: in the middle of this Bigfoot boom again.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 5: And mostly driven by the Internet, which makes you wonder
- 17:16Speaker 5: what these people did before the Internet existed. Because there
- 17:19Speaker 5: are so many sites... There are so many chat rooms.
- 17:23Speaker 5: There are so many boards. And they're so full of
- 17:26Speaker 5: mostly crazy people.
- 17:27Speaker 7: And that's just it.
- 17:28Speaker 10: The stuff that is actually happening now, that people are
- 17:31Speaker 10: actually saying is happening, is so much more interesting than
- 17:34Speaker 10: any movie. Like, you know the whole Justin Smajic thing.
- 17:39Speaker 5: I've talked to Justin.
- 17:40Speaker 7: Have you really?
- 17:40Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 17:41Speaker 5: Justin's on Facebook.
- 17:44Speaker 2: We've talked.
- 17:45Speaker 5: I don't believe a word Justin says.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Really?
- 17:48Speaker 5: But I don't care because I still like the guy.
- 17:50Speaker 5: And I'm like, if it turns out to be complete BS.
- 17:53Speaker 7: That is what everyone says.
- 17:54Speaker 5: If it turns out to be complete BS, I'll slap
- 17:56Speaker 5: him on the back and say, good one, man.
- 17:57Speaker 10: Tell the kids listening at home a brief rundown of
- 18:01Speaker 10: what Justin's made us do.
- 18:03Speaker 5: It's a story that's almost two years old where he's
- 18:07Speaker 5: a hunter. He's a young guy.
- 18:08Speaker 2: He's in his 20s.
- 18:08Speaker 5: He's up in California, northern California. Hunting and fishing is
- 18:13Speaker 5: what the guy does. And he's, you know, a lot
- 18:16Speaker 5: of people want to call him a redneck. I think
- 18:18Speaker 5: he's a little sharper than that. But he's a hunter,
- 18:21Speaker 5: trophy hunter, taxidermist, hunt bear, you name it, he's done
- 18:24Speaker 5: it all. Supposedly the story got out on a taxidermy
- 18:29Speaker 5: board almost two years ago. Some guy started asking questions
- 18:33Speaker 5: about what would happen if he shot a Bigfoot. And
- 18:36Speaker 5: people are, like, joking around and everything. And he finally
- 18:39Speaker 5: starts talking about how, well, he may have actually done this.
- 18:43Speaker 5: And a lot of people want to go all the
- 18:44Speaker 5: way back there. You see how legit it is? He
- 18:46Speaker 5: was so quiet about it. I think he was just
- 18:48Speaker 5: testing the waters. But the story is that he and
- 18:52Speaker 5: a friend were out hunting. This is an area in
- 18:54Speaker 5: northern California called Gold Lake. They were bear hunting. They
- 18:58Speaker 5: had bear tags and legitimate license to hunt bear. And
- 19:01Speaker 5: he claims that they came around a bend, driving this truck,
- 19:05Speaker 5: and they saw this big, hairy, bipedal thing waving its arms.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 5: You know, like, hey, hold off, back up. And so
- 19:12Speaker 5: Justin jumps out.
- 19:13Speaker 1: The bridge is out.
- 19:16Speaker 5: And this is where it gets complicated because Justin even admits,
- 19:19Speaker 5: he said, at first I thought somebody might have been
- 19:21Speaker 5: making a movie. And maybe this is a guy in
- 19:23Speaker 5: a suit. But he shot it anyway. And that's where
- 19:27Speaker 5: a lot of the logic starts to fly out the window.
- 19:29Speaker 5: And he says his friend was trying to stop him.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Don't do it, don't do it. But he says he
- 19:33Speaker 5: shot the adult. Got a clear chest shot. And they
- 19:35Speaker 5: said it screamed and went running off down a bluff.
- 19:38Speaker 5: But then he said they go looking for it and
- 19:40Speaker 5: then suddenly there are two little ones. And they're walking around.
- 19:44Speaker 5: They're like three, four feet tall. And they're like looking
- 19:46Speaker 5: for the parent as well.
- 19:48Speaker 7: Chattering away.
- 19:50Speaker 5: And uh he gets more and more agitated and more
- 19:53Speaker 5: and more feeling more threatened by these especially one so
- 19:57Speaker 5: uh once again despite his buddy's protests he blows it
- 19:59Speaker 5: away and it supposedly rolls down a hill at his
- 20:04Speaker 5: feet He's a good level-headed character. And he picks it
- 20:06Speaker 5: up and it dies in his arms. And supposedly his
- 20:09Speaker 5: clothes and his boots are covered in Bigfoot blood.
- 20:12Speaker 7: Keep in mind, kids, this is not a movie plot.
- 20:14Speaker 5: No, this is supposedly reality.
- 20:16Speaker 7: This is supposedly something that has actually happened.
- 20:19Speaker 5: And it gradually got out slowly through the boards and
- 20:23Speaker 5: people investigating and all this. It was either you think
- 20:26Speaker 5: this is bullshit or you buy it. And the thing
- 20:28Speaker 5: with the Bigfoot community is they generally want to buy.
- 20:30Speaker 4: It right away.
- 20:32Speaker 1: And....
- 20:34Speaker 5: It just grew and grew. And I was fascinated with
- 20:36Speaker 5: it because it intersects with this other big thing that's
- 20:39Speaker 5: going on right now, which is the DNA studies. Melba Ketchum. Melba.
- 20:42Speaker 9: It's been going on forever.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Forever.
- 20:44Speaker 5: And I suspect we'll have them.
- 20:45Speaker 2: But it's going to come out any day.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Any day.
- 20:48Speaker 5: But this story intersects with that, where she's a woman,
- 20:50Speaker 5: a veterinarian, actually, from Texas, with questionable credentials, as far
- 20:55Speaker 5: as I'm concerned.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I think everyone involved in the Bigfoot story.
- 20:59Speaker 5: She's been given all this material for DNA testing, and
- 21:01Speaker 5: she farms it out to labs, and it's all legit
- 21:03Speaker 5: as far as that goes, supposedly. But the Sierra Kills
- 21:07Speaker 5: material got into her hands, and they've been talking ever
- 21:11Speaker 5: since about how it checks out. I don't know how
- 21:13Speaker 5: it checks out, since you have no faith. That's been
- 21:17Speaker 5: one of those articles of faith that you have to have.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Based on the $ 6 million man.
- 21:21Speaker 5: But the thing is, this goes back to the material. Now,
- 21:23Speaker 5: here's this trophy hunter. who has tons of photos posted
- 21:27Speaker 5: on his Facebook page of all the animals he shot,
- 21:30Speaker 5: yet that day he was so choked up he didn't
- 21:32Speaker 5: take a picture of Bigfoot.
- 21:34Speaker 7: Baby Bigfoot died.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Understandably so.
- 21:36Speaker 2: He's got Baby Bigfoot. Understand.
- 21:38Speaker 7: It's an emotional moment. Forget your camera.
- 21:40Speaker 5: He's got Baby Bigfoot there. He says it maybe weighed
- 21:43Speaker 5: 40 pounds. I'm like, well, put it in the back
- 21:45Speaker 5: of the truck, dude.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, really?
- 21:47Speaker 5: This is million-dollar Baby Bigfoot, man. This is like right there.
- 21:50Speaker 5: You're finished. You're retired.
- 21:52Speaker 7: Clint Eastwood. He didn't take it.
- 21:57Speaker 5: He says he hid it under a bush. Yet he's
- 21:59Speaker 5: 100 and knows about Tony Adams.
- 22:02Speaker 10: An important part to the story is that apparently by
- 22:05Speaker 10: this point his friend grabbed his gun, pointed it at.
- 22:08Speaker 7: Him, and said, You will not shoot anything else. We
- 22:11Speaker 7: are leaving it.
- 22:12Speaker 5: The driver, whoever it is.
- 22:14Speaker 7: You are not going to ruin this night.
- 22:17Speaker 5: I don't care. Take the dead baby, or cut off
- 22:20Speaker 5: a finger.
- 22:22Speaker 1: We need proof, damn it.
- 22:23Speaker 5: But no, they didn't take anything, and then supposedly went back,
- 22:27Speaker 5: depending on which version of the story, went back within
- 22:30Speaker 5: two weeks to two months with a lot of fairly
- 22:33Speaker 5: big-name people in the Bigfoot community. Jeff Meldrum, who's one
- 22:36Speaker 5: of the only fairly legitimate guys, was there. I don't
- 22:38Speaker 5: think he buys any of this, but Some of the
- 22:40Speaker 5: guys from Finding Bigfoot, Bobo was there and some of
- 22:43Speaker 5: those guys. Justin produced a sample that he says he
- 22:47Speaker 5: found digging through snow. And everybody says it's either Bigfoot
- 22:51Speaker 5: or it's coyote. And supposedly these samples are in the
- 22:55Speaker 5: hands of Melvin Ketchum. So I saw all that and
- 22:57Speaker 5: I saw this intersection going on. I was like, oh,
- 22:59Speaker 5: this is big. No matter how it turns out, it's big.
- 23:01Speaker 5: Yet it's still just sitting there. But the latest big
- 23:04Speaker 5: deal a couple weeks ago is Justin took a polygraph.
- 23:08Speaker 5: And Justin passed.
- 23:09Speaker 7: 98%.
- 23:10Speaker 5: But you know what? Polygraphs are easy to pass if
- 23:12Speaker 5: you're a good liar.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 9: If you believe the lie, then it's not a lie.
- 23:16Speaker 5: And then you should clench your asshole really good when
- 23:18Speaker 5: you're answering.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 5: And so people are going all nuts about Justin passed
- 23:23Speaker 5: the polygraph. I'm like, so what? I could pass a polygraph.
- 23:25Speaker 5: I could tell you about my bionic iris asshole.
- 23:31Speaker 7: Put a tack in your shoe.
- 23:32Speaker 1: We'll save that for a different body.
- 23:35Speaker 7: Are you going to add in a sound effect right
- 23:37Speaker 7: when you say that?
- 23:37Speaker 3: That's right.
- 23:40Speaker 5: But that's what happens when the aliens try to angrily
- 23:43Speaker 5: probe me. I'm fighting back with my.
- 23:46Speaker 7: And, of course, the only way you can.
- 23:47Speaker 5: And I can tell that tale in these... I can pass.
- 23:49Speaker 10: And, of course, this piece of meat that Justin found,
- 23:52Speaker 10: he dug up, and he says it was the Bigfoot.
- 23:54Speaker 7: He sent it off. That's what has become known as
- 23:56Speaker 7: the Bigfoot steak.
- 23:59Speaker 1: That I ordered recently at the Outback. Yes. And it
- 24:01Speaker 1: was quite tasty, man.
- 24:03Speaker 7: Well, that was the Yowie Steaksy. I saw that. But again,
- 24:08Speaker 7: this isn't a movie. This is quote-unquote real life.
- 24:11Speaker 10: And that's why even though I publicly deny the existence
- 24:17Speaker 10: of B-Foot.
- 24:19Speaker 7: Bigfoot. B-Foot. I publicly deny it.
- 24:24Speaker 2: But I believe in the privacy of my own home.
- 24:27Speaker 1: B-Foot's totally real.
- 24:28Speaker 8: B-Foot.
- 24:29Speaker 7: But it's just....
- 24:32Speaker 10: Every time I swear it off, I'll go back and
- 24:34Speaker 10: I'll look at BigfootEvans.com and I'll be.
- 24:37Speaker 7: Like, oh, I've got to read this.
- 24:40Speaker 5: And he'll put up anything because, you know, it just
- 24:42Speaker 5: drives traffic. And he'll throw in some of the most
- 24:44Speaker 5: hilarious pieces. But there's a Facebook page, which I've been
- 24:49Speaker 5: marginally a part of at times.
- 24:50Speaker 7: Did Facebook find Bigfoot?
- 24:52Speaker 8: Oh, no.
- 24:53Speaker 5: Those guys crack me up. They confirm on everything. No,
- 24:56Speaker 5: there's one, it's actually called the Coalition for Reasons, you know, Reason, Science,
- 25:00Speaker 5: and Sanity in Bigfoot Research. And it's a constant battle.
- 25:04Speaker 5: It's a constant war.
- 25:06Speaker 7: Have you looked at Team Taser?
- 25:08Speaker 5: Team Taser, yeah. Fairly clever at times. You know, they
- 25:12Speaker 5: started out kind of in love with themselves, but I
- 25:14Speaker 5: think they don't really buy this major stuff either, for
- 25:17Speaker 5: the most part, so they've kind of been making fun
- 25:19Speaker 5: of it, but. Yeah, there's a whole world of Internet
- 25:21Speaker 5: Bigfooting that is much more entertaining than any Bigfoot movie
- 25:23Speaker 5: you will ever watch.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Oh, it has to be.
- 25:26Speaker 5: It's constant drama. It's constant war. It's amazing to witness it.
- 25:32Speaker 5: I became deeply enmeshed in it and then had to
- 25:34Speaker 5: pull out because it's too scary.
- 25:37Speaker 1: That's what we can take from this is that Bigfoot
- 25:40Speaker 1: is out there, and we found him, and he's on
- 25:41Speaker 1: the Internet. He's hanging out on Facebook like everybody else.
- 25:45Speaker 9: I was going to say, for the viewers not familiar,
- 25:47Speaker 9: I would recommend... Not Another Bigfoot Movie, I think is
- 25:50Speaker 9: the name of it.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:50Speaker 9: Because that's a really good peek into.
- 25:53Speaker 5: The mentality.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 25:54Speaker 9: Just the mentality of taking a photo and it's like, look,
- 25:58Speaker 9: I see a whole family, 15 of them.
- 25:59Speaker 1: It's like, it's shadows.
- 26:01Speaker 2: It's worse than ghost photos.
- 26:02Speaker 10: There is a guy featured in that movie who is
- 26:06Speaker 10: the reason why I publicly... Do not believe in Bigfoot.
- 26:10Speaker 10: It's a researcher named Tom Biscardi. I can't even say
- 26:13Speaker 10: his name.
- 26:14Speaker 5: It makes me so mad.
- 26:15Speaker 10: But basically, he's the guy back in 2008 who went
- 26:18Speaker 10: on to CNN and claimed that he had the Bigfoot
- 26:21Speaker 10: body in the freezer.
- 26:24Speaker 7: And there was guys from AP that were like, is
- 26:26Speaker 7: this a joke?
- 26:27Speaker 10: And he was looking at them and serious as cancer,
- 26:31Speaker 10: you know, saying bigfoot. You know, this is as real
- 26:35Speaker 10: as you are standing there. And, of course, it was
- 26:38Speaker 10: a suit. And he says, I was hooked.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a couple of guys in Georgia with
- 26:42Speaker 5: a rubber suit full of, like, roadkill.
- 26:44Speaker 7: I believe this guy was in on it.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Oh, he was.
- 26:47Speaker 7: He was.
- 26:47Speaker 5: He used, like, $ 60, 000 of some other guy's money to
- 26:50Speaker 5: buy it from these guys.
- 26:52Speaker 7: But the reason why I now.
- 26:54Speaker 10: public say I don't believe in Bigfoot is because when
- 26:56Speaker 10: that was happening, I was forwarding.
- 26:58Speaker 7: The press releases to everybody I knew. I was so excited.
- 27:02Speaker 10: It's like, this is actually happening because one of the
- 27:06Speaker 10: guys who found it was actually a police officer. So
- 27:09Speaker 10: I was thinking, why would a cop risk his job
- 27:14Speaker 10: to create a hoax on a national scale. This has
- 27:16Speaker 10: to be real. This has to be real. And then
- 27:18Speaker 10: when it wasn't, I was so mad.
- 27:20Speaker 7: That's it.
- 27:21Speaker 10: Publicly, I'm done with Bigfoot. We broke up. Basically, I
- 27:27Speaker 10: got the photo of me and Bigfoot. I cut him
- 27:29Speaker 10: out of it. I burned all of his letters. It
- 27:32Speaker 10: was a bad breakup.
- 27:34Speaker 5: And there's an event like that roughly twice a year now,
- 27:36Speaker 5: when there's some big, huge, ridiculous hoax goes on. And
- 27:42Speaker 5: that's part of the charm of the whole thing, too,
- 27:44Speaker 5: is that it's been rife with that since the beginning.
- 27:46Speaker 10: But in that movie, that Not Another Bigfoot movie, you've
- 27:50Speaker 10: got the two kind of down on their luck guys,
- 27:53Speaker 10: and they're all excited because there's this big-name researcher coming,
- 27:57Speaker 10: and he comes, and they're dazzled, and then he basically
- 27:59Speaker 10: stands them up. and you just see the disappointment on
- 28:04Speaker 10: their faces.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Oh, he treats them horribly.
- 28:07Speaker 9: Because they're very childlike. I mean, it's hard to, you know,
- 28:10Speaker 9: you can't hate them. It's just you're almost sort of
- 28:13Speaker 9: taken aback by, like, these guys are just so into it.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Well, the reason they're so into it in that movie
- 28:19Speaker 2: is you realize they have nothing else.
- 28:22Speaker 7: In their life.
- 28:22Speaker 9: Which is what's kind of sad, yeah.
- 28:24Speaker 5: And there are guys, you know, times 10 like that
- 28:28Speaker 5: on the internet. That's why I started this podcast. Actually, Brian,
- 28:31Speaker 5: this is a good point.
- 28:32Speaker 7: I mean, it's like you've got Trekkies. You've got your Bigfoot.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I have nothing else.
- 28:39Speaker 7: To each person, their own obsession.
- 28:42Speaker 1: This is my Bigfoot.
- 28:43Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 28:44Speaker 7: This is your Bigfoot, man.
- 28:46Speaker 2: But I think when they had the convention and they're
- 28:49Speaker 2: sitting around and they're giving each other awards for the
- 28:52Speaker 2: best supporter.
- 28:52Speaker 9: It's like little printed paper ones and it's like they're
- 28:55Speaker 9: in some.
- 28:55Speaker 1: They're big moments.
- 28:56Speaker 9: Yeah, it's in like the back room at some restaurant
- 28:59Speaker 9: or something.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I mean, I just, you don't want to say pity
- 29:05Speaker 2: because you're like, yeah, I do that stuff too. You know,
- 29:09Speaker 2: not the same way, but we're all desperate in some
- 29:11Speaker 2: different way. And they just needed an excuse to be
- 29:15Speaker 2: friends more than anything.
- 29:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 29:18Speaker 2: An excuse to appreciate each other, spend time with each other,
- 29:21Speaker 2: have something to look forward to, whatever.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Again, that all applies to every week.
- 29:25Speaker 2: What is their excuse?
- 29:26Speaker 7: Is this movie on Netflix?
- 29:29Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 7: It was.
- 29:29Speaker 5: It was.
- 29:30Speaker 1: It's a good movie.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Go look for it. And the short, they've got the
- 29:35Speaker 2: original short that they filmed before that, which is even,
- 29:39Speaker 2: you know, it's just as good.
- 29:41Speaker 5: I mean, there's a ton of Bigfoot documentaries out there,
- 29:43Speaker 5: but the two best ones, I think, are the ones
- 29:45Speaker 5: that just examine the people. And that's one. And there's
- 29:48Speaker 5: another one called Sasquatch Odyssey that was done years and
- 29:51Speaker 5: years ago. And it's about the old guard guys.
- 29:53Speaker 4: The four horsemen.
- 29:54Speaker 5: The horsemen. It's all about those guys and how they
- 29:57Speaker 5: all started out working together, and then they all eventually,
- 29:59Speaker 5: you know, hating each other's guts.
- 30:01Speaker 7: That's just it.
- 30:02Speaker 5: It follows them to the end of their lives, and
- 30:03Speaker 5: they're still screaming at each other at conventions.
- 30:05Speaker 1: It's fascinating.
- 30:06Speaker 7: The Bigfoot world is a Jerry Springer show in microcosm.
- 30:09Speaker 1: It really is.
- 30:11Speaker 5: It has very little to do with Bigfoot. It has
- 30:13Speaker 5: a lot to do with personalities.
- 30:15Speaker 1: It's drama.
- 30:16Speaker 5: I'm going to prove this before you do. My Bigfoot
- 30:19Speaker 5: toenail is real, and your steak is not.
- 30:22Speaker 9: And I think the first time I remember just really
- 30:24Speaker 9: noticing– the um you know peculiarity of it because i'd
- 30:28Speaker 9: you know grown up like reading the lauren coleman books
- 30:30Speaker 9: and stuff like that and was just really into cryptozoology
- 30:33Speaker 9: it was when i started reading stuff by eric.
- 30:35Speaker 14: Beck here and i was like oh god this dude
- 30:37Speaker 14: is friggin insane because you know it's i remember just
- 30:40Speaker 14: you know he essentially had apologies written to where it's
- 30:43Speaker 14: like oh mothman that was me in an auto body
- 30:46Speaker 14: experience i'm sorry folks i'm sorry if i scared you
- 30:48Speaker 14: back then oh my god.
- 30:51Speaker 5: He stalked and terrorized people. He was an amazing guy.
- 30:54Speaker 9: Yeah, and he believed that Bigfoot was like a shape-shifting
- 30:57Speaker 9: alien from another dimension. And he would just show you
- 31:00Speaker 9: frame by frame of the Patterson photo. He was like, no,
- 31:02Speaker 9: you see all these weird faces morphing.
- 31:04Speaker 5: In and out of the musketeer. Yeah, there's more than
- 31:05Speaker 5: one Bigfoot in that Bigfoot.
- 31:06Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly.
- 31:07Speaker 9: It was a bunch of Bigfoots in that Bigfoot.
- 31:10Speaker 5: And there's a huge school of thought that follows that.
- 31:14Speaker 5: Do you know Robert W.
- 31:15Speaker 7: Morgan?
- 31:17Speaker 10: I first heard him say this theory. One of the
- 31:20Speaker 10: reasons why everyone says that the Patterson film, I'm sure
- 31:24Speaker 10: everyone who is listening to this has seen it, it
- 31:26Speaker 10: is the one famous photo or movie clip where the
- 31:29Speaker 10: Bigfoot is walking slowly and it's spreading its.
- 31:32Speaker 7: Two arms out. And it looks back.
- 31:36Speaker 10: People will often say that that movie is obviously fake
- 31:39Speaker 10: because every other story about Bigfoot is it's there and
- 31:42Speaker 10: it is gone. Why is this Bigfoot strolling so calmly.
- 31:48Speaker 10: And Robert W. Morgan says that if you look off
- 31:52Speaker 10: to the side, you can see a baby Bigfoot. So
- 31:56Speaker 10: this is a mama Bigfoot who is essentially doing what
- 32:01Speaker 10: a bird will do to keep a predator out of
- 32:05Speaker 10: its nest. It'll pretend to have like a broken wing,
- 32:09Speaker 10: you know, to sort of drive it away.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Robert W.
- 32:13Speaker 10: Morgan's theory was that the mama Bigfoot was leading the
- 32:17Speaker 10: two guys taking the film off, and then the daddy
- 32:22Speaker 10: Bigfoot was going to come and beat them all since.
- 32:25Speaker 5: That's the thing. The Patterson footage, it's not good enough
- 32:30Speaker 5: that it's footage of Bigfoot. There has to be a
- 32:32Speaker 5: story that's very strange and goes along with it. And
- 32:34Speaker 5: there's another guy, M.K. Davis, who, it's like a Rorschach blot.
- 32:38Speaker 5: He looks at it, and he now claims there was
- 32:41Speaker 5: a massacre that day. And the more he studied the film,
- 32:45Speaker 5: the more he realized that There's a bullet hole opening
- 32:48Speaker 5: up on Patty's leg. And there's pools of blood. And
- 32:53Speaker 5: you're like, what the hell is he saying? And then
- 32:56Speaker 5: he starts accusing the four horsemen of being guys who
- 32:59Speaker 5: slaughtered Bigfoot. It's insane. So he becomes a pariah in
- 33:03Speaker 5: a society that's already completely nuts. And he's saying, oh,
- 33:07Speaker 5: it's a massacre.
- 33:07Speaker 7: Again, not a movie.
- 33:09Speaker 1: This is real life. It's all real.
- 33:11Speaker 9: But I remember reading about that, and I was like,
- 33:12Speaker 9: this is more analytical than when people pick apart the JFK.
- 33:16Speaker 5: Oh, it's like there's a shooter from here. He did
- 33:18Speaker 5: good work in that he actually stabilized the footage to
- 33:20Speaker 5: where you see it walking very.
- 33:22Speaker 9: Yeah, I remember seeing frames around.
- 33:24Speaker 5: There was good physical work done, but then he started
- 33:26Speaker 5: seeing things, like bloody handprints on logs and stuff. It's
- 33:30Speaker 5: just not there. and he still he he retired and
- 33:34Speaker 5: he came back recently and he's still got some hilarious have.
- 33:36Speaker 10: You seen the latest film that he's put out basically
- 33:40Speaker 10: it's it's it shows the forced scene it was taken
- 33:44Speaker 10: by a trail camera and off frame you see a
- 33:48Speaker 10: bottle getting thrown in uh to the clearing he claims.
- 33:51Speaker 7: That it was a bigfoot who yeah through it and
- 33:53Speaker 7: then you actually.
- 33:54Speaker 10: Hear bigfoot talking yeah and it sounds like samurai chatter
- 34:00Speaker 10: it's like.
- 34:00Speaker 5: And it's not like a guy could stand over there
- 34:05Speaker 5: and throw the bottle and make samurai noises with him
- 34:09Speaker 5: he's got another great one where it's like just it's
- 34:11Speaker 5: completely jet black and something is scooting a cooler around.
- 34:16Speaker 1: It's bigfoot it's a ghost i mean anything.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Scooting a cooler And it's this amazing stuff he keeps
- 34:22Speaker 5: coming up with.
- 34:23Speaker 7: That's something I always found interesting, too, was whenever.
- 34:26Speaker 10: You are a particular paranormal researcher and you go out
- 34:32Speaker 10: and you've got the video camera and you've got the thermal...
- 34:35Speaker 10: you always tend to find evidence of exactly what you're
- 34:38Speaker 10: looking for. You never hear about a ghost hunter getting
- 34:41Speaker 10: a Bigfoot photo or a Bigfoot hunter getting a shadow person.
- 34:45Speaker 7: It's like, you know.
- 34:47Speaker 5: Nature provides.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Yes. Damn it, I've got all these leprechauns all over me,
- 34:52Speaker 1: and I'm just trying to find a Bigfoot. Right.
- 34:56Speaker 10: And you never hear about guys out doing a documentary
- 34:58Speaker 10: on grizzly bears getting a shot of Bigfoot.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 9: But see, as soon as you mentioned hearing, I hadn't
- 35:05Speaker 9: even heard what the sounds he was saying they were like,
- 35:07Speaker 9: but everybody describes the Bigfoot sounds as being almost the same,
- 35:10Speaker 9: just sort of that weird chatter and that. And that's
- 35:12Speaker 9: why I've always been more into all the other cryptids,
- 35:14Speaker 9: because you get the ones like the Kelly creatures that
- 35:17Speaker 9: happened in Kentucky. It's like, that stuff is just so
- 35:19Speaker 9: much more unique to me, because it happens one time
- 35:22Speaker 9: and it's just so friggin' bizarre.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:25Speaker 10: Yes, the public monster has a beautiful speaking voice. It's
- 35:29Speaker 10: a bit like Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
- 35:32Speaker 7: It's very elegant. Clipped.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I'm going to throw you off this bridge. I can
- 35:42Speaker 1: only assume that's how it would go.
- 35:46Speaker 2: There's a train coming, too. We'll be very painful at
- 35:51Speaker 2: the tree.
- 35:53Speaker 1: For you. For you. I wanted to be caught on film.
- 35:58Speaker 1: That's part of the plan.
- 36:00Speaker 7: I was almost Dr.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Evil. For you. Oh, Lord. All right, we've spiraled off
- 36:07Speaker 1: into Bane, so we should probably take a break here
- 36:11Speaker 1: and come back with the actual movie, which is probably
- 36:13Speaker 1: nothing like any of these things we've just described.
- 36:16Speaker 2: No, it's not.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Unfortunately, yeah.
- 36:20Speaker 1: So we'll take a break. We'll probably run one of
- 36:23Speaker 1: those crazy Tower of Technobabble promos. And then we'll be back. Oh, crap.
- 36:26Speaker 7: I was supposed to bring one?
- 36:28Speaker 1: All right. Maybe we won't.
- 36:31Speaker 15: We're living in a Bigfoot world. Buddy, can you see?
- 36:39Speaker 15: We're living in a Bigfoot world.
- 36:42Speaker 7: He stands for you and me.
- 36:47Speaker 6: As everyone knows, rainbows usually have a treasure at the end.
- 36:57Speaker 6: Let's follow this one and see if we can find
- 37:04Speaker 6: the pot of gold.
- 37:17Speaker 14: Father, I suppose you've come to claim me treasure.
- 37:20Speaker 16: Well, we'd like to see the gold first.
- 37:23Speaker 17: Nathan, there's better than gold in here, me lad.
- 37:25Speaker 5: No, no, just look here now.
- 37:27Speaker 16: Candy, refreshing soft drinks, popcorn, ice cream. Well, that's some treasure,
- 37:33Speaker 16: but anyone can buy luscious treats like these at the
- 37:36Speaker 16: snack bar.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Yeah, don't tell me.
- 37:39Speaker 8: Do you suppose you could get me.
- 37:40Speaker 10: A job as a snack bar attendant?
- 37:49Speaker 3: The legend of Boggy Creek tells it like it happened.
- 37:59Speaker 3: Through the eyes of the big technoscope cameras, you will
- 38:02Speaker 3: see wildlife living with nature, a treat you will.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Not soon forget.
- 38:08Speaker 3: This is the setting for the new motion picture, Legend
- 38:11Speaker 3: of Boggy Creek, filmed entirely on location around Falk, Arkansas.
- 38:16Speaker 3: It is the true story of the Falk Monster. This
- 38:19Speaker 3: motion picture is being acclaimed by the motion picture industry
- 38:22Speaker 3: as a strong contender for that industry's top award, the Academy.
- 38:26Speaker 3: The Legend of Boggy Creek, color by Technicolor, is a
- 38:29Speaker 3: P & L film production presentation.
- 38:37Speaker 7: Dave, I do not get superheroes. Oh my god, I
- 38:40Speaker 7: don't get you.
- 38:41Speaker 1: What don't you get?
- 38:42Speaker 18: Towerbot here. Well, the meatbags were going to say that

- 40:12Speaker 7: We hope you're enjoying your visit here this evening. Now,
- 40:15Speaker 7: on with the show.
- 40:16Speaker 1: It's time for Tales from the Cryptids.
- 40:20Speaker 4: The Bigfoot Five. People have been seeing them for years.
- 40:25Speaker 2: The last thing we need is more paranoia.
- 40:31Speaker 7: Gotta get these people out of here.
- 40:33Speaker 2: I'm going to stuff him and bounce him.
- 40:35Speaker 5: I think the only reason you want to kill Bigfoot
- 40:38Speaker 5: is just to piss me off.
- 40:39Speaker 4: The Partridge family's Danny Bonaduce and the Brady Bunch's Barry
- 40:43Speaker 4: Williams in an all-new movie event.
- 40:46Speaker 18: Bigfoot premieres this Saturday at 9, only on SyFy.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Oh.
- 40:50Speaker 1: My.
- 40:50Speaker 11: God.
- 40:54Speaker 1: And they feared the hatchet-throwing Sasquatch.
- 41:15Speaker 5: And I'm afraid of the hatchet-throwing sasquatch that lives next door.
- 41:58Speaker 7: And we're back.
- 41:59Speaker 1: And we're back. Welcome back to Movie Bouts on Stouffer Theater.
- 42:03Speaker 1: And this marks our triumphant return to the, I told
- 42:05Speaker 1: you it had one, Tales from the Cryptids series.
- 42:09Speaker 5: I like that.
- 42:10Speaker 3: I see.
- 42:12Speaker 1: And this would be the subsection of the Bigfoot files.
- 42:15Speaker 9: You ought to mouth man there for coming up with
- 42:17Speaker 9: that one. I don't know how many more cryptid puns we.
- 42:19Speaker 7: Can come up with.
- 42:21Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 42:22Speaker 1: This week's Silver Theater feature is Bigfoot, creatively titled. The
- 42:27Speaker 1: year is 2012. Director Bruce Davison. They plot, and I
- 42:32Speaker 1: like when they so don't care about the plot that
- 42:34Speaker 1: they don't even bother to put it into plot-like terms.
- 42:37Speaker 1: They just go ahead and use meta descriptions. According to IMDb,
- 42:41Speaker 1: it says, The 1970s pop culture icons Danny Bottaducci and
- 42:46Speaker 1: Barry Williams face off in the hunt for the legendary
- 42:49Speaker 1: mountain creature.
- 42:49Speaker 7: I liked it.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Icon, obviously. Icons.
- 42:52Speaker 1: It doesn't have quotes, but I just put them around. So,
- 42:55Speaker 1: spoiler alert, God forbid we ruin this movie for you,
- 42:59Speaker 1: so go find Sippy and go watch your own.
- 43:04Speaker 7: Have you guys talked about that, the Sippy thing?
- 43:07Speaker 1: The Sippy thing? Yeah, I think we bitched about it
- 43:09Speaker 1: years ago, so it continues to annoy us. So with that,
- 43:14Speaker 1: should we, from here on, refer to ourselves as the
- 43:17Speaker 1: Bigfoot Alliance? Yes.
- 43:19Speaker 2: I like it. I'm a member of the Bigfoot Alliance.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Oh, of the many, many ridiculous things that come up
- 43:26Speaker 1: in this movie.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Bigfoot Alliance.
- 43:27Speaker 9: We're B.A.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Where would you like to begin with Bigfoot?
- 43:34Speaker 2: I'd like to start someplace. I know we've got some
- 43:36Speaker 2: Bigfoot connoisseurs here.
- 43:38Speaker 9: Best part was the ending of it.
- 43:40Speaker 2: As far as I'm concerned.
- 43:42Speaker 5: No.
- 43:43Speaker 2: This isn't a Bigfoot movie as far as I'm concerned.
- 43:44Speaker 1: The best fucking Bigfoot? That's what you said, right?
- 43:46Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 43:47Speaker 1: That's the best fucking Bigfoot movie I've ever seen.
- 43:50Speaker 10: As a Bigfoot fan, I guess I could have been
- 43:54Speaker 10: insulted if I cared.
- 43:56Speaker 7: Because it isn't really... They didn't make a Bigfoot movie.
- 43:59Speaker 7: They made a King Kong movie.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Yes, they did.
- 44:01Speaker 2: That's exactly what I've got written down right here. It's
- 44:04Speaker 2: King Kong. No, we all agree. I love that.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Well, my thing is pretty early on we get the
- 44:12Speaker 1: little circle of life thing going on there as we
- 44:14Speaker 1: watch all the animals.
- 44:15Speaker 2: That annoyed me.
- 44:17Speaker 7: Who did not see that coming?
- 44:19Speaker 1: As soon as Bigfoot, quote unquote, makes his appearance, I'm
- 44:22Speaker 1: just like, all right, cartoons. Who doesn't like Bigfoot cartoons?
- 44:28Speaker 2: I would like to do like McGillig gorilla and just
- 44:32Speaker 2: like put him over the– I think that would be,
- 44:36Speaker 2: or something like that, just like cookie-cutter paste some cartoon
- 44:40Speaker 2: over the Bigfoot in this. It would make it much
- 44:43Speaker 2: more watchable.
- 44:44Speaker 9: I'm going to respect whoever made that decision, though, because
- 44:46Speaker 9: at some point in time when they were coming up
- 44:48Speaker 9: with this, it's like, all right, what's this thing going
- 44:50Speaker 9: to look like? I feel like they just looked at
- 44:52Speaker 9: the test footage, and they're like, all right, that looks
- 44:54Speaker 9: like shit. So instead of hiding it, just giving people
- 44:57Speaker 9: a quick little flash throughout the whole movie, just before
- 45:00Speaker 9: the credits even go, we're going to show you the
- 45:02Speaker 9: thing in broad daylight.
- 45:03Speaker 5: Really?
- 45:04Speaker 9: You're either going to say, I'm going to stick with this,
- 45:06Speaker 9: or I'm just going to say, fuck it and change
- 45:07Speaker 9: the channel.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Because this is what you get. I do appreciate that, yeah.
- 45:10Speaker 5: This is the whole kind of sci-fi philosophy with these
- 45:13Speaker 5: schlock pictures they've been making. I mean, Sharktopus and all
- 45:16Speaker 5: these other pictures. It's like, we're going to show you
- 45:17Speaker 5: the monster right up front. It looks stupid.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Except for Sharktopus, which looked awful.
- 45:22Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 45:24Speaker 5: So you know you're going to watch junk, so either
- 45:26Speaker 5: stick with it or don't.
- 45:27Speaker 1: I think that's you're on sci-fi already.
- 45:30Speaker 10: I'm not really a horror movie fan i don't subscribe
- 45:33Speaker 10: to fame gory or anything like that so get the
- 45:35Speaker 10: fuck out did that work did did this movie work
- 45:39Speaker 10: in horror terminology.
- 45:42Speaker 1: I don't know about horror comedy it worked really well.
- 45:46Speaker 9: See the weird thing and this is going to be
- 45:47Speaker 9: very pathetic for me to admit this but As I
- 45:50Speaker 9: was watching the first portion of it, I was like, okay,
- 45:53Speaker 9: this isn't structured like a Bigfoot movie. This is structured
- 45:56Speaker 9: like an animal attack movie. Because if you look at
- 45:58Speaker 9: the true.
- 46:00Speaker 9: That's one of my favorite sub-genres of horror is animal
- 46:04Speaker 9: attack films. So much so that it's like... I've seen
- 46:07Speaker 9: most all the bad ones, including all... I think it
- 46:10Speaker 9: was 17 animal attack films that were made in 1977.
- 46:13Speaker 9: That was when the genre peaked.
- 46:15Speaker 2: After Jaws.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Yeah, after Jaws. Well, that's what kicked it off. It's
- 46:20Speaker 1: quite a cluster of angry ants.
- 46:22Speaker 9: I don't know, like the top three in that one,
- 46:23Speaker 9: it was Day of the Animals, Kingdom of the Spiders,
- 46:25Speaker 9: and Empire of the Ants. All three of those were 77.
- 46:28Speaker 9: But it follows that same template of Jaws.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Like if you.
- 46:31Speaker 9: I've already lost you on this.
- 46:34Speaker 7: I was just thinking, it's like Noah's Ark of Death.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Well, that's always like Day of the Animals.
- 46:40Speaker 9: Day of the Animals is when William Gerber was like,
- 46:42Speaker 9: fuck it, everything.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Cougars, birds, spiders, snakes, bears, all of them.
- 46:49Speaker 9: But, no, actually, this starts off following the plot of Jaws,
- 46:53Speaker 9: because you've got the initial death, and then you meet
- 46:57Speaker 9: the characters, and then not only that, but there's the
- 47:01Speaker 9: big event coming up that the town is completely dependent on.
- 47:04Speaker 9: The mayor is a dick that just doesn't give a shit.
- 47:07Speaker 7: By the way, speaking of the mayor, Howard Hessman? Howard
- 47:11Speaker 7: Hessman was in this.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Yes, among many other people.
- 47:16Speaker 10: When did Howard Hessman go from top of the class
- 47:18Speaker 10: to bottom of the barrel?
- 47:19Speaker 2: Head of the class. I was waiting for Dwar Hall
- 47:23Speaker 2: and Tannis to show up.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Right about the time sci-fi got involved.
- 47:28Speaker 5: It's a paycheck.
- 47:30Speaker 7: Sorry to interrupt you.
- 47:32Speaker 1: It does. It just follows the animal attack.
- 47:35Speaker 5: It follows it for a point and then it doesn't
- 47:37Speaker 5: seem to follow anything.
- 47:39Speaker 9: After that, it's just like.
- 47:40Speaker 5: The movie just sort of rambled around.
- 47:42Speaker 10: You know, I think my favorite Bigfoot movie is Boggy Creek,
- 47:47Speaker 10: and I was really surprised that there, right out of
- 47:51Speaker 10: the box, in bright sunlight, here is the monster. I mean,
- 47:55Speaker 10: I almost felt like.
- 47:59Speaker 7: Well, okay, I've seen it, I might as well stop.
- 48:01Speaker 7: There's just no point going on.
- 48:04Speaker 9: And it's not like watching John Carpenter's The Thing, where
- 48:06Speaker 9: you've got something that Rob Bottin made up, and it's like,
- 48:09Speaker 9: We're fucking proud of this. This is awesome.
- 48:10Speaker 7: It's just more like, eh, there you go.
- 48:13Speaker 1: This one, their idea of good CGI is individual hairs
- 48:17Speaker 1: on his head. They were so specific about making sure
- 48:20Speaker 1: he had individual hair.
- 48:21Speaker 5: It's literally like render quality crap.
- 48:23Speaker 1: That's good enough.
- 48:25Speaker 5: We don't have to take it any further.
- 48:26Speaker 10: The only thing from sci-fi I've seen was the... Battlestar Galactica,
- 48:31Speaker 10: the reimagining. How does the CG in this movie compare
- 48:37Speaker 10: to other sci-fi projects?
- 48:38Speaker 1: It's right about there. Minus Battlestar. Battlestar is its own thing.
- 48:45Speaker 5: I think BSG is produced by other people and then
- 48:48Speaker 5: shown on sci-fi.
- 48:49Speaker 1: This is asylum for them.
- 48:51Speaker 10: I actually noticed that they used the Battlestar Galactica font
- 48:55Speaker 10: in the credits.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Nice.
- 48:59Speaker 7: They're all on the same server.
- 49:00Speaker 9: I feel like with all the sci-fi films, though, the
- 49:03Speaker 9: first couple that they tried to do, I don't remember,
- 49:05Speaker 9: it was pre-Sharktopus and all that stuff. But they did
- 49:08Speaker 9: some in the late 90s, early 2000s, to where the
- 49:12Speaker 9: CG looked better then than it does now. At this point,
- 49:16Speaker 9: it's purposeful.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Yeah, they're going out of their way.
- 49:20Speaker 5: Well, they learn that they can get by with just
- 49:22Speaker 5: making junk.
- 49:23Speaker 1: And they know people expect that and almost come looking
- 49:26Speaker 1: for it.
- 49:27Speaker 9: But I feel like at this point the joke's wearing old.
- 49:30Speaker 5: It's not even good junk.
- 49:31Speaker 7: Is it supposed to be a joke? I couldn't.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I think it's supposed to be. I think it's a
- 49:35Speaker 1: legitimate attempt to make it. I couldn't really crack a.
- 49:38Speaker 5: Smile at anything I saw.
- 49:39Speaker 7: Can they actually make money? from this?
- 49:42Speaker 5: From a project like this?
- 49:43Speaker 1: Advertising.
- 49:43Speaker 5: Advertising, yeah.
- 49:44Speaker 9: The commercials that are run.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Enough people will tune in just for the ridiculousness of
- 49:49Speaker 1: it that they can make their money through advertising.
- 49:50Speaker 2: It's kind of.
- 49:51Speaker 5: A morbid curiosity thing.
- 49:54Speaker 2: They're selling to, I hope not to offend anybody with this,
- 49:57Speaker 2: but to pro wrestling fans as well now too.
- 50:00Speaker 1: That's true. They've changed their market.
- 50:04Speaker 2: It's all kind of, they brought them in with marathons
- 50:07Speaker 2: of pro wrestling and hey, we're going to have, we're
- 50:09Speaker 2: going to show, and that's what this is. This is
- 50:12Speaker 2: Andre the Giant or King Kong Bundy or whatever you
- 50:14Speaker 2: want to put on there. It's crap.
- 50:16Speaker 1: When it became Giant Animal versus Giant Animal, it really
- 50:20Speaker 1: was just wrestling. This is one that's kind of different.
- 50:24Speaker 10: I have to say, in terms of a Bigfoot enthusiast,
- 50:28Speaker 10: it was not made for.
- 50:30Speaker 9: A Bigfoot genre at all.
- 50:33Speaker 10: It honestly had the wrong name because it didn't even
- 50:37Speaker 10: look like What people say a Bigfoot looks like. It
- 50:40Speaker 10: did not look human at all. Bigfoot does not have claws.
- 50:47Speaker 10: And obviously Bigfoot is not 40 feet tall. Bigfoot max
- 50:52Speaker 10: is 30, 38.
- 50:54Speaker 5: Never 40.
- 50:55Speaker 9: Which is the other thing too. And it's like, how
- 50:58Speaker 9: is that cheaper? Than putting a dude in a suit.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Seriously.
- 51:03Speaker 9: I guarantee you that CG cost more money than a
- 51:06Speaker 9: dude in a suit.
- 51:07Speaker 5: In the credits, there was actual credit for a suit fabricator.
- 51:13Speaker 5: And I'm like, wait.
- 51:13Speaker 7: Oh, that was the Danny Bonnet.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Is the guy standing at the concert?
- 51:17Speaker 5: Yeah, the guy at the concert.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I was like, where was there a suit in the movie?
- 51:22Speaker 10: Oh, by the way, the worst CGI I've ever seen
- 51:27Speaker 10: was actually at that concert where the Bigfoot picks up
- 51:30Speaker 10: the guy in the gorilla suit and he's looking at it.
- 51:32Speaker 7: It looks like a photo cutout. It looks like the
- 51:35Speaker 7: CGI is holding a photo cutout.
- 51:37Speaker 1: I mean, I've seen whatever the one that had Tiffany
- 51:39Speaker 1: and Debbie Gibson. I forget at this point. Sure. But
- 51:42Speaker 1: there is a shot where, I swear, it's just still
- 51:44Speaker 1: stuff that they've cut out of. It looks like they
- 51:46Speaker 1: cut out of a magazine, and they're just like.
- 51:48Speaker 2: It's like South Park.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Yeah, they're South Parking it into the screen at them.
- 51:54Speaker 10: It's almost like they're using CG, but the acting is
- 51:58Speaker 10: like blue screen acting.
- 52:00Speaker 1: At best.
- 52:02Speaker 2: One moment that really stuck out to me is when
- 52:05Speaker 2: the deputy, sheriff's deputy, the older one, gets... hit by
- 52:09Speaker 2: the car that kicks into it. And the car looks
- 52:13Speaker 2: like a... I've seen the animated Hot Wheels show. It's
- 52:17Speaker 2: that bad. And it kicks it, and that's fine. And
- 52:20Speaker 2: it pins him up against the car and bounces off
- 52:23Speaker 2: of him. And everything is CG around him. And almost
- 52:26Speaker 2: the background is even CG. It's just the two of
- 52:29Speaker 2: them standing in front of a tree. And then the
- 52:33Speaker 2: car is clearly just bad. And then they cut to
- 52:36Speaker 2: the man... And the cars pinned him against the tree,
- 52:39Speaker 2: but it didn't bounce away like it had before. So
- 52:41Speaker 2: they were that lazy with something that was that cheap
- 52:44Speaker 2: not to push it against him.
- 52:48Speaker 1: It doesn't even match.
- 52:48Speaker 10: Speaking of lazy, we can spoil the ending, right? I
- 52:54Speaker 10: swear to God, Lincoln's face got shot twice.
- 52:58Speaker 7: It did. You guys see that?
- 53:00Speaker 1: Well, it was so good the first time.
- 53:02Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:03Speaker 2: He fell three times.
- 53:04Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 53:06Speaker 1: When you get a really good explosion in any movie,
- 53:09Speaker 1: you've got to make sure and show it two or
- 53:10Speaker 1: three times.
- 53:11Speaker 10: King Kong having the monkey climb up on a landmark
- 53:14Speaker 10: to hassle it by jets.
- 53:16Speaker 5: The whole climax there, yeah. I think Lincoln got blasted twice.
- 53:19Speaker 5: I heard the same lines come out of Cheryl and
- 53:22Speaker 5: Fen's mouth. Twice, in two different occasions. But the best
- 53:26Speaker 5: line of the movie was like, there's a giant monster
- 53:29Speaker 5: climbing Mount Rushmore. And the sniper was like, I can't
- 53:33Speaker 5: get a clear shot.
- 53:34Speaker 1: I wrote that down. I was just like, you're in
- 53:41Speaker 1: a fucking helicopter. He's on Mount Rushmore.
- 53:45Speaker 10: Well, he was probably feeling weird because, you know, Lincoln's thinking.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 53:50Speaker 7: Not again.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Not again.
- 53:53Speaker 19: A darned-haired, 40-foot-tall monster.
- 53:57Speaker 2: That is a funny moment now.
- 53:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 54:01Speaker 5: At the time, I was still shocked.
- 54:02Speaker 2: Corporal Booth, take your shot.
- 54:04Speaker 7: I can't get a clip shot.
- 54:05Speaker 2: I think the preposterous part when they're running out of
- 54:12Speaker 2: the cave, Bonaduce and... Greg.
- 54:15Speaker 5: Just call him Greg, yeah.
- 54:17Speaker 10: Oh, the hired gun, the big game hunter.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Scared when he's supposed to be furious.
- 54:24Speaker 17: Oh, yeah.
- 54:24Speaker 9: And.
- 54:25Speaker 2: The quint of the movie. They're running down the hill
- 54:29Speaker 2: and the military just turns and just starts firing into
- 54:32Speaker 2: the guy. And they're saying, hold your fire, hold your fire.
- 54:35Speaker 2: And they're still just blasting away. They weren't capable of
- 54:39Speaker 2: hearing them climb up behind them, but they're hair trigger
- 54:42Speaker 2: enough to just shoot and lay into this guy.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:46Speaker 2: I was in tears I was laughing so hard.
- 54:49Speaker 1: At that point I was glad because our again sorry
- 54:53Speaker 1: ass version of a Quint I mean he's supposed to
- 54:56Speaker 1: be this big game hunter and has killed all these
- 54:58Speaker 1: but like The few minutes before, accidentally shoots a random girl,
- 55:05Speaker 1: gets scared, and runs away. That's it. I quit. And
- 55:08Speaker 1: runs out of the cave.
- 55:10Speaker 7: Like, good.
- 55:10Speaker 1: You get shot.
- 55:12Speaker 10: My favorite part about that guy was whenever Danny Bonaduce
- 55:16Speaker 10: calls him to hire him, the hunter said.
- 55:20Speaker 7: Yeah, man.
- 55:22Speaker 10: Because I was on your radio show, I got all
- 55:25Speaker 10: of my big endorsement deals that made me a millionaire.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Like you do.
- 55:32Speaker 7: He got that just from disappearing on a local classic
- 55:36Speaker 7: rock station.
- 55:37Speaker 2: In South Carolina.
- 55:39Speaker 9: I like the rock stations following. Because early on, I
- 55:42Speaker 9: think the first moment I lost it on that. was
- 55:45Speaker 9: when he just gets back on and he's just like, hey,
- 55:47Speaker 9: the concert's still on. You have these three people outside
- 55:50Speaker 9: of a trailer like, yay!
- 55:53Speaker 1: Those three people love that guy.
- 55:57Speaker 10: And you know, just like Danny Bottaducci, whenever I do
- 55:59Speaker 10: my podcast, I wear a thick, heavy leather motorcycle jacket.
- 56:04Speaker 7: I'm hardcore.
- 56:06Speaker 2: I like the... Because clearly they weren't prepared for the
- 56:11Speaker 2: weather they were going to shoot this movie in. Because
- 56:14Speaker 2: they even had to.
- 56:16Speaker 1: That's a funny problem to have. It's on a crappy
- 56:18Speaker 1: low budget.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Or this weather. Because it keeps going back and forth
- 56:22Speaker 2: to shots of there being snow on the ground, to
- 56:24Speaker 2: it not being snow on the ground, to a little bit,
- 56:27Speaker 2: to piles of snow. And the rain melted all the snow.
- 56:32Speaker 9: And there's some scenes where I even noticed they CG'd
- 56:35Speaker 9: in breath on people when it didn't belong.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Like, okay, is it cold or not? He's riding on
- 56:41Speaker 2: a motorcycle with no sleeves.
- 56:43Speaker 11: I mean.
- 56:44Speaker 5: That's going to solve all the continuity problems right there.
- 56:47Speaker 1: Everything.
- 56:47Speaker 5: Talk about the weather. Now, I think the only reason
- 56:50Speaker 5: you want to kill Bigfoot is just to piss me off.
- 56:53Speaker 12: You mean kind of the way you killed our record
- 56:55Speaker 12: deal to piss me off? You know, as for Bigfoot.
- 57:01Speaker 12: I don't care anything about your tree-hugging hippie friends. And
- 57:05Speaker 12: when Bigfoot comes around, I'm going to either bag him
- 57:07Speaker 12: and cage him or stuff him.
- 57:09Speaker 2: And mount him.
- 57:10Speaker 16: That animal belongs in a reserve away from people like
- 57:13Speaker 16: you who want to turn him into a freak show.
- 57:16Speaker 7: Your breath stinks.
- 57:23Speaker 5: You stole my tranquilizer darts. I can't even play the guitar.
- 57:27Speaker 7: Yeah, well, I got three of them in my basement.
- 57:29Speaker 7: And your mama knows what I can play.
- 57:31Speaker 10: What did everyone think of the double act of Greg
- 57:35Speaker 10: Brady and Danny Bonducci?
- 57:38Speaker 9: There was so much silly dialogue.
- 57:41Speaker 5: It all turned on who screwed whose mom.
- 57:43Speaker 1: I did have a question.
- 57:46Speaker 7: Apparently they both slept with each other's mothers.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I think that's what I got.
- 57:51Speaker 9: I could never figure out if that was just them
- 57:53Speaker 9: jabbing or if that was the cape.
- 57:55Speaker 1: That wasn't clear. It sounded like it was pretty real.
- 57:58Speaker 10: It was during the climatic battle on top of Lincoln's head.
- 58:02Speaker 7: One of them says, Yeah, I.
- 58:06Speaker 5: Yeah, you had to bring up the mother again right
- 58:07Speaker 5: at the end.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing. I bought it with, like, when
- 58:10Speaker 1: it was the bar, I guess. I mean, as bad
- 58:12Speaker 1: as the dialogue is anyway, but I'm just like, all right, whatever,
- 58:15Speaker 1: they worked it in. But, like, an hour later, they're
- 58:17Speaker 1: still making that joke. And I'm like, okay, we got it.
- 58:20Speaker 1: You've covered it ten times now. You can stop making
- 58:23Speaker 1: the mom jokes. That got old real fast.
- 58:25Speaker 10: I'm thinking Danny was improv-ing and throwing in some magic lines.
- 58:28Speaker 5: I think there was a lot of that.
- 58:29Speaker 1: You know that Danny.
- 58:31Speaker 5: That whole kind of quint scene with... What's his name?
- 58:37Speaker 3: Willard.
- 58:38Speaker 5: Bruce Davis. Bruce Davis. Where they're in the office, and
- 58:40Speaker 5: he's trying to tell that story about the guys.
- 58:43Speaker 7: Up on the ridge.
- 58:43Speaker 2: I wrote that down, how awkward it was.
- 58:45Speaker 5: He was making it up. He's like, somebody's off-screen with this.
- 58:51Speaker 2: And he's the director.
- 58:52Speaker 5: And he's like, well, we never saw it.
- 58:54Speaker 1: And then there was Bigfoot.
- 58:58Speaker 5: So the movie's full of that kind of stuff.
- 59:00Speaker 7: So you had said that Tiffany and Debbie Gibson did a.
- 59:05Speaker 1: They were each individually in one and then they had
- 59:09Speaker 1: a super cross where they were versing each other.
- 59:11Speaker 5: It was like Super Croc versus Anaconda.
- 59:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:15Speaker 5: Super reptile.
- 59:15Speaker 1: I can look it up but I don't care.
- 59:16Speaker 7: Is this going to be a thing?
- 59:18Speaker 1: It's been. I mean that was years ago. So that's
- 59:21Speaker 1: sort of their thing is to dig up has-been actors.
- 59:24Speaker 1: No offense to any of the cast.
- 59:26Speaker 10: So we can look forward to Trapper and BJ from
- 59:30Speaker 10: TV's MASH looking for the Loch Ness Monster.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Probably.
- 59:33Speaker 7: That would be awesome.
- 59:34Speaker 1: I can see that happening.
- 59:35Speaker 9: But at the same time, I just can't get in.
- 59:37Speaker 9: And again, going back, now I feel like I'm a snob.
- 59:40Speaker 9: It's like, I respect the Animal Attack movies of the 70s,
- 59:44Speaker 9: but not this new wave of Animal Attack movies. But
- 59:47Speaker 9: back then, it's like, you got actual creatures on set,
- 59:51Speaker 9: and they tried to sell the idea as much as
- 59:54Speaker 9: they could. This one's like, they aren't trying to sell it.
- 59:56Speaker 1: It's just, it's a I think there's a difference. And,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: you know, we watch, again, arguably, a lot of crap
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: on this show. But at the same time, I think
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: if you watch a lot of it, if you're really
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: a movie geek, you become kind of a connoisseur. And
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: it's like there's a difference between we just watched Star
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Crash and this. And I'm like, Star Crash, there is
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: so much love in that movie. That guy was killing
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: himself to make a great movie. This is a paycheck
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: for everybody in there. They could care less about it.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: They show up for work. They know nobody's going to
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: like it in the end. StarCraft, that guy was hoping
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: this was the biggest thing since Star Wars.
- 1:00:33Speaker 9: It's like the difference between Bobby Creek.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: This one, they know it's crap. They don't care, and
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: they just show up for it.
- 1:00:39Speaker 10: Man, I died a little when I saw the girl
- 1:00:41Speaker 10: from Northern Exposure.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Show up.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Twin Peaks.
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: Twin Peaks, yeah.
- 1:00:46Speaker 7: No, it was Shelly.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Oh, Shelly, yes. Sue came on as Sue Ellen, and
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: it took me so long to go, who is that?
- 1:00:54Speaker 10: She was the blonde wearing black who was very Williams.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: She was very excited about it.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: She was supposed to be a college student still, and
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: she was easily 40.
- 1:01:08Speaker 7: Easily, yeah.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Well, I thought you were just talking about Cheryl.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: Well, Cheryl and I was one of the saddest things.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: Because there's, like, one of the sexiest women in the
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: history of television.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: And I'm like, God.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: And they didn't even want to show a full shot
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: of her, did they?
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: And it's hard. Like, it really is difficult to watch
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: people that you really, really like. loved in some way.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: Like Bigfoot! Not like Bigfoot. Believe me, I have very
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: different feelings for Sherilyn Finn than I did for Bigfoot.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Let me ask you this. When you see Sherilyn Finn
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: on camera in this film, do you picture her now
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: with a prosthetic leg?
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: Because I do.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: I can't not think of her with one.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: This puts it in perspective because I knew, and this
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: is one more reason I knew she would not be
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: on this episode, nobody, like arguably... Misty thinks Sherilyn Finn,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: in her Twin Peaks heyday, is hotter than I do.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: And I think she's about the hottest damn woman there
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: was at that point in time. And I sent her
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: the trailer, and the only thing she sent back was,
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: what the hell has happened to the hotness that was
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Sherilyn Finn? And I was like, alright, that was my thought.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: She has to be a mom now, right?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: She's wearing mom jeans the whole time. It's official. It's... So,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: I mean, it's... And she's not terrible. She's doing the
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: best she can with this horrible dialogue and just showing
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: up for work, basically, like all of them are, but.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: There's just.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Not really much you can do. You just don't care.
- 1:02:39Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:02:39Speaker 9: Ben, did you take copious notes on the movie? I'm
- 1:02:42Speaker 9: sitting here looking through it.
- 1:02:43Speaker 7: There's a lot there.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: We all did.
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: Well, you see.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: We're doing professionals here.
- 1:02:47Speaker 7: Well, the guys at the Tower podcast, they.
- 1:02:50Speaker 10: Came to me and they were like, look, don't do
- 1:02:52Speaker 10: what you usually do.
- 1:02:53Speaker 7: Don't half-ass this. This is a big deal.
- 1:02:56Speaker 9: Yeah, because we're so professional.
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: So it's good here. Well, no, because... Because I didn't
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: know how you guys operated. So I was just jotting
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: down notes.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got my notes.
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: This is official, Dan.
- 1:03:06Speaker 7: Because so much in it was just amazing to me. Like,
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: in the beginning when the Forest Ranger.
- 1:03:15Speaker 10: was trying to prove to Danny Bottaducci that there may
- 1:03:19Speaker 10: be a problem. We were treated to a scene of
- 1:03:23Speaker 10: carnage and heads getting bit off and bodies flowing everywhere.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: So what is the big proof that he shows us?
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: It's a footprint. What about all the bodies in the
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: burning truck?
- 1:03:33Speaker 9: Well, not only that, but the whole thing is like,
- 1:03:35Speaker 9: you don't mention this to anybody.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: It's like, a dozen people saw it. There's headless bodies
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: and a dozen people saw it.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: You don't mention this to anybody. How is that not
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: the major news?
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: On that note, I have a question for, I guess,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: the more knowledgeable on the Bigfoot topic. Is Bigfoot a carnivore?
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Is he known to eat people? I suppose.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: People know.
- 1:04:01Speaker 10: It depends on who you ask. There's this big movement
- 1:04:06Speaker 10: of carnivores. true believers out there that are like, Bigfoot
- 1:04:10Speaker 10: is the.
- 1:04:10Speaker 7: Guardian of the forest, and he's a peaceful, gentle giant.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: He eats granolas.
- 1:04:16Speaker 7: And then you've got.
- 1:04:17Speaker 10: Guys like Michael Merchant, who's like, Bigfoot is an animal,
- 1:04:22Speaker 10: and if you have ever been out in the forest,
- 1:04:25Speaker 10: everything is trying.
- 1:04:26Speaker 7: To eat everything else, and he's just like that, too.
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: Yeah, there are a lot of reports that Bigfoot actually
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: preys on deer, and they seem credible. Or anything else
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: he can get his hands on.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: Deer would be the most logical because they have no
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: natural predator other than humans anymore. Because we killed off
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: their natural predators. So that's why we have to have
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: kills throughout the year. all the Midwest, especially because there's
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: nothing other than a few coyotes that might be able.
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: To take one down. There's coyotes and maybe a few
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: cats moving back into the scene, but mostly the population's
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: out of control.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: And they have plenty of food as well.
- 1:05:09Speaker 10: And there are some Bigfoot believers that will point to
- 1:05:13Speaker 10: the very large number of people who go missing in
- 1:05:17Speaker 10: the national parks, and they'll take a huge leap of
- 1:05:21Speaker 10: faith and say, maybe it was Bigfoot that got them,
- 1:05:23Speaker 10: you know, and Well, I also like.
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: Instead of that bear.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I like this Bigfoot because he doesn't even seem to
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: eat them. He just wants to bite their heads off.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Doesn't he spit it out half the time?
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: He's an extremely angry Bigfoot.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Yeah. And there's no, like... It's like eating a muffin.
- 1:05:39Speaker 9: Nobody wants to eat the bottom of the muffin.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: That's the most.
- 1:05:44Speaker 7: Yeah, I wrote it down. I couldn't believe it. What, muffins?
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I love muffins.
- 1:05:50Speaker 10: Like, after the Bigfoot ruins the big rock show for the.
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: for the 20 people.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: We need to get back to that.
- 1:05:57Speaker 9: The whole town was banking.
- 1:05:59Speaker 10: There was this press conference and they're hassling the mayor
- 1:06:03Speaker 10: and one of the reporters actually has the effing nerve
- 1:06:07Speaker 10: to say, is it true that you had evidence of
- 1:06:12Speaker 10: this creature and yet you did nothing and let the
- 1:06:15Speaker 10: concert go on? That was my first laugh out loud
- 1:06:19Speaker 10: moment because.
- 1:06:21Speaker 10: Do you guys realize how many people call the police
- 1:06:24Speaker 10: and say, I saw something? It's like, okay, say the
- 1:06:31Speaker 10: Kentucky Derby gets canceled because someone calls and says, I
- 1:06:35Speaker 10: saw the Pope lick monster. And so the mayor's like,
- 1:06:38Speaker 10: somebody might die.
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: We have to protect our people.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: We've got to call it off.
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: Martial law. Take care of our own here.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: And they blow the bridges and shut down the city.
- 1:06:49Speaker 9: But again, that goes back to the whole thing on Jaws.
- 1:06:52Speaker 9: It's like, did you close the beaches? It's just looping
- 1:06:56Speaker 9: back to that early on. It becomes, again, it goes
- 1:06:58Speaker 9: from that animal attack genre to... the overall King Kong thing.
- 1:07:02Speaker 9: It's just they're borrowing for so many movies.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: In a logical film, there would have been a lead-up.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: There would have been a big lead-up to the big concert,
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: and that would have probably been the carnage.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking.
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: They get it over with in the first 20 minutes.
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: It's like, okay.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I was like, I thought this was going to be
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: the finale 20 minutes in.
- 1:07:19Speaker 7: This movie was nothing but climaxes, man.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: That's true, actually.
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: We'll fade out to the cop car sitting in front
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: of the station, and now we'll fade into people getting
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: killed over the hill.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: One step.
- 1:07:30Speaker 19: One thing this movie made me just remind me is, like,
- 1:07:33Speaker 19: I respect movies like Jaws because there's not one person
- 1:07:36Speaker 19: in that movie who's just like, let it live in peace.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: It's like, no, everyone's like, kill this fucking thing. Like,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: this is... Killing yesterday.
- 1:07:44Speaker 10: I really laughed when, what's his name, Greg Brady, you know,
- 1:07:50Speaker 10: when he went to the reporters and was saying, like,
- 1:07:55Speaker 10: You know, it's the fault of the evil capitalists who
- 1:07:59Speaker 10: put on this concert. And that's why our brothers and
- 1:08:03Speaker 10: our fathers and our sisters are all dead.
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: It's because of the greedy concert promoters who put this on.
- 1:08:08Speaker 9: And yet he played at the freaking concert hall.
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: In fact, he was the opening act for Bigfoot.
- 1:08:16Speaker 10: Technically, it was his music that pissed off the Bigfoot
- 1:08:20Speaker 10: in the first place.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Okay, while we're on the concert, we really need to
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: go into that, because that became the funniest thing to me,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: is just how out of whack all of this was.
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: Well, first of all, it's like the whole situation is
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: he's angry, Greg is angry because they're going to bulldoze
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: 50 acres of forest for this music concert that, you know,
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: like 25 people.
- 1:08:44Speaker 9: I was going to say, how is it that the
- 1:08:46Speaker 9: town doesn't have any other venue for the music concert
- 1:08:51Speaker 9: other than, well, we've got to build or bulldoze a
- 1:08:53Speaker 9: section of forest.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: It's like Woodstock, man.
- 1:08:55Speaker 9: There's going to be so many people there. I mean,
- 1:08:57Speaker 9: there's got to be a farm field somewhere in that town.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Why?
- 1:09:00Speaker 10: Do TV environmentalists always look young and really, really hot,
- 1:09:04Speaker 10: and environmentalists in real life always look kind of, you know, grungy?
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: That's the wonders of TV.
- 1:09:11Speaker 10: Don't you know that taking showers kills Mother Earth?
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Come on.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: It's wastewater.
- 1:09:18Speaker 9: It's wastewater.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: His references for this big 80s concert, he keeps talking
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: about Sting, and I'm like, okay, Sting getting back together
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: with the police. that's Wembley Stadium. That's a stadium venue.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry. No one had to cut down any trees.
- 1:09:34Speaker 10: And you know, Danny keeps talking about the spirit of
- 1:09:38Speaker 10: the 80s the way people talk about the spirit.
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: Of the 60s.
- 1:09:41Speaker 10: I don't remember a lot of idealism in the 80s.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: I think they probably wanted to do 70s. Because why
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: would you have Danny Bonaduce and Greg Brady in there
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: for an 80s retro thing? And somebody said, You know what?
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: Kids aren't going to get this at all.
- 1:10:01Speaker 9: Like kids will get 80s?
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Or maybe.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: I think they will.
- 1:10:03Speaker 10: The only musician that they could get was Alice Cooper,
- 1:10:06Speaker 10: so they had to move the time frame.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Technically, he was 70s, too. His better stuff is 70s.
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: But I think he even points that out.
- 1:10:14Speaker 9: So you're saying the kids know George Harrison better than
- 1:10:18Speaker 9: the Beatles or something?
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: Well, what I'm saying is... What I'm saying is the mindset.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: Is that what I'm to infer?
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: What I'm saying is I think 80s right now are
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: more accessible as an ideal. It's more kitschy. Well, yes.
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: Well, it's kitschy and they still play it on the radio.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Yeah. And it's kind of a retro feel right now,
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: especially because people, I think, 10 years older than I am,
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: they all have kids that are teenagers now. They might
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: pull out their old parents' albums and make fun of them.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: They might, you know.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: And so.
- 1:10:49Speaker 9: Got a lot of tapes of Alf circulating around.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: So I think, I don't know, I think the 80s
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: are a little bit more iconical now than the 70s.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: I also think at least one, if not several, deals
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: fell through. Because if you go back and look at
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: the press release stuff, it's got Billy Idol.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: All over it.
- 1:11:06Speaker 6: Really?
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: That's 80s. I mean, you can't pretend like, I mean,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: he was a little bit 70s, but nobody knows him
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: from the 70s. He's 80s through and through. So it's like.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: If they had Alice Cooper and Billy Idol signed on, hey,
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: it's an 80s festival, and then Billy Idol. It's pretty
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: bad when Billy Idol turns you down.
- 1:11:22Speaker 10: You know, my favorite line out of it, speaking of
- 1:11:25Speaker 10: Alice Cooper, was... Danny Bonaduce was trying to talk Alice
- 1:11:28Speaker 10: into going on.
- 1:11:29Speaker 7: He's like, come on, man. You and I go way back.
- 1:11:31Speaker 7: And Alice says, I just met you like two minutes ago,
- 1:11:34Speaker 7: and I hate you.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: And I was just like, he summed up the movie
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: for me. I know. I was like, Alice, once again,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: you speak for all of us. We were all thinking that.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: School is out.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: He's like, wow.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: Ellis is a prophet. That was a weird thing to say.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: When he also drops the line, it's, I only did
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: this to promote my golf album.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: My golf book. He is.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: I knew about this when I was in eighth grade.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: He is like a scratch golf. Oh, he's fantastic.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: He comes here because he likes to go to Valhalla. Yeah.
- 1:12:14Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: For him to drop that reference. I think he might even,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: I didn't look it up. He might even have a
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: golf book coming out. Oh, I'm sure he did.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: That's probably why.
- 1:12:23Speaker 18: Look at this audience.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: They're excited.
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: They're excited.
- 1:12:29Speaker 18: They're stoned. They're not even gonna know who I am.
- 1:12:31Speaker 7: Oh, they're going to love you.
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: You're Alice Cooper. This is going to be awesome.
- 1:12:36Speaker 7: Yeah, dude.
- 1:12:37Speaker 9: That's also why I think this got made.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: I'm assuming that's the pitch.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Of this movie is, hey remember that blackmail stuff i
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: got on alice cooper he's agreed to do a sci-fi
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: movie they're like well what's the plot.
- 1:12:58Speaker 5: I don't know what do you want to make the
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: plot bring me on and kill me in 15 i.
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: Think yeah i think it's like they had people there
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: and they're just like well what do we do i
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: mean you know he was just waiting to be inserted
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: in a movie they just made a deal with him
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: because he doesn't need to be in this really it's
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: again i think the deal fell through with all these
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: other musicians, and he just sort of got inserted in
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: this movie.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: I love how the stage wasn't even big enough.
- 1:13:22Speaker 7: To house his band.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: This makes no sense.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Barry Williams filled out the stage by himself.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: I was like, number one, you're not going to have
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: any of these people. Duran Duran's not playing in that town.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: None of this makes sense. But then, okay, Danny Bonucci's
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: full of shit. We all know that. And within the story,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: he is too. He's lying. So, okay, that's fine. But...
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: even as it's supposed to go, they're planning, according to
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Howard Hessman, to have 5,000 people there. So this stage
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: the size of this table is set up, and that
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: little happy birthday banner that they roll out that they
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: bought at the card store.
- 1:14:00Speaker 9: Yeah, fast signs made that. But they needed 50 acres
- 1:14:03Speaker 9: for that.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: But they needed 50 acres.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: I was like, guys, really?
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: You're watching it, and you see how badly the DP
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: is trying to just keep Those 25 people filling the frame.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: He was not fooling anybody.
- 1:14:17Speaker 19: They didn't look to the left or right.
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: They passed those giant sunglasses around to two or three girls.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: That's what I don't understand. I'm like, couldn't you sneak
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: a camera into Lollapalooza and get some actual footage of
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: a lot of people?
- 1:14:29Speaker 9: Who has an outdoor concert when the snow is on
- 1:14:31Speaker 9: the ground to begin with?
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: It wasn't supposed to be on the ground. Well, that's
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: the other thing is they showed all this stock footage
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: of fighting forest fires.
- 1:14:41Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: And none of it had... First of all, the topography
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: they were in. Probably not even the state they were in.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: How did the fire even start? There was snow on
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: the ground. How did snow... Oh, it.
- 1:14:52Speaker 7: Was when he tossed a bulldozer, wasn't it?
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: Something caught on fire.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: But did it catch on fire?
- 1:14:56Speaker 7: Well, okay.
- 1:14:59Speaker 10: I didn't understand Bigfoot's motivation. He went on the rampage
- 1:15:04Speaker 10: because winter came early?
- 1:15:06Speaker 7: Is that right?
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: The seasons were like that never happens.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Hibernation um feeding pattern i don't know they're just throwing
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: out random shit but like if you watch that scene
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: where sherilyn's supposedly explaining it like again she seems like
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: she's just sort of making stuff up because because bruce
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: like questions her on something she goes yeah yeah like
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: you know like feeding patterns and like she seems like
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: she's making it.
- 1:15:31Speaker 9: Up but again it's like they could have taken it
- 1:15:33Speaker 9: it's like they couldn't decide whether they wanted to do
- 1:15:35Speaker 9: a tongue-in-cheek or serious and it just.
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: It That's my problem with all those movies. They could
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: do these with a little wit. But they just choose
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: not to. It's like you could shoot it a certain
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: way and light it a certain way and make the
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: actors dumber than they are, and I might laugh.
- 1:15:51Speaker 9: Because I've decided if I ever get a little budget,
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: I'm going to make squirrels. The tagline is, they want
- 1:15:57Speaker 9: your nuts. And just very briefly, they're cutting down the wood,
- 1:16:01Speaker 9: and someone explains, oh yeah, when squirrels, when their natural
- 1:16:04Speaker 9: habitat gets... when it dwindles down, they turn to human flesh.
- 1:16:07Speaker 9: It's a scientific fact. Just throw that out there.
- 1:16:08Speaker 7: It's like, voila, there you go.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: That's all the exposition you need.
- 1:16:11Speaker 8: That's all you need.
- 1:16:12Speaker 9: That's all you need.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: And then the movie just goes.
- 1:16:14Speaker 9: It's like this one tries to, like, sell you Bigfoot.
- 1:16:19Speaker 10: And, you know, it's like I can accept that it's
- 1:16:22Speaker 10: not what a traditional Bigfoot is.
- 1:16:25Speaker 7: It's not even what a traditional horror movie is.
- 1:16:27Speaker 10: The thing that kept it from being enjoyable, really, is
- 1:16:29Speaker 10: Danny Bonaduce is just so unlikable.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: And they could have made him even more unlikable. It
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: might have been funny. He's just playing himself.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: He really is. He's at his job. That really is
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: his job. It's just Danny on a normal Tuesday.
- 1:16:46Speaker 19: Exactly. I wasn't thinking about what I was seeing on screen.
- 1:16:51Speaker 19: I was just picturing imaginary conversations at the catering table
- 1:16:55Speaker 19: that Bonaduce and Alice Cooper might have had. Drinking their coffee. Yeah,
- 1:16:59Speaker 19: it's kind of ridiculous that us two... icons of the
- 1:17:04Speaker 19: 70s are having to make this crap movie. And then
- 1:17:06Speaker 19: Alaskan was like, well... You not so much. And they're
- 1:17:09Speaker 19: just kind of passively aggressively just like, you fucking hate
- 1:17:12Speaker 19: being here.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: And like, you know, their egos. There's something stupid. Like,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: I just imagine stuff like that going on off camera.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Because I'm just checking out. By the way.
- 1:17:20Speaker 7: Because you wonder, what was the attitude.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: When making this thing? It wasn't good. Like, after the,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: you know, the yellow cut, everyone just went their separate way.
- 1:17:27Speaker 4: Like, fuck.
- 1:17:28Speaker 7: Mumbling.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: Anchorly mumbling.
- 1:17:30Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:17:31Speaker 9: I kind of figured that maybe all of them happened
- 1:17:32Speaker 9: to be just friends of Bruce Davison. Just outside.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Once. Yeah.
- 1:17:36Speaker 9: Now that I've found out that he. directed it i
- 1:17:38Speaker 9: mean that.
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: Makes sense i almost feel like somebody else started making
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: the movie and maybe he just raised his hand i'll finish.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: Maybe i almost think they took uh college students on
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: editing and said here edit it because it's i i
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: mean i could i i have no talent and no
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: training i could have edited it better.
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: I know i can so the film was full of
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: crossfades right it's like crossfades denote in the language of
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: editing the passage of time It's like, there's nothing like
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: that going on here. It's like, that's just crossfade from
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: an explosion to the police car.
- 1:18:10Speaker 10: It actually could have been a lot of fun on set,
- 1:18:13Speaker 10: and they just didn't realize.
- 1:18:14Speaker 7: How it was going to come out.
- 1:18:17Speaker 10: What I didn't understand was, out of all the people
- 1:18:19Speaker 10: that were killed, out of all the heroes, the firefighters,
- 1:18:24Speaker 10: the cops, Alice Cooper even, the only ones who got
- 1:18:28Speaker 10: statues in the end were Danny and.
- 1:18:34Speaker 7: Where's the Alice Cooper statue?
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: And that's what I don't get to jump ahead to
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: the end there. I'm like, wait, so they get statues
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: as heroes for fighting on top of a national monument
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: when it explodes? They were the ones that caused people
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: to die in the first place. i was like what
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: exactly were they up there doing that warranted a statue
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: they were fighting.
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: In this movie for it to be ironic.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: No it's just it just doesn't make sense how about
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: a statue for the guy that fired.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: The shot yeah yeah exactly yeah fuck.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: She called in the National Guard. She should get the statue.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: My question for the statues, mostly, is why do they
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: look like the Munsters? Is it just me? Shrek kind
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: of looks like Herman, and Danny looks like Grandpa.
- 1:19:19Speaker 7: Did you notice Lincoln had a facelift in the background?
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: They're not going to let that be messed up. They'll rebuild.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: They can rebuild that.
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: The overall plot, it reminded me it was last year
- 1:19:32Speaker 9: when Fast Five came out. The Onion did a video
- 1:19:36Speaker 9: where like their fake daily morning program had on a seven-year-old.
- 1:19:40Speaker 19: Yes and they script writer and he like falls asleep
- 1:19:43Speaker 19: and takes his shoes.
- 1:19:44Speaker 9: Off like so tell us tell us danny what about
- 1:19:46Speaker 9: what came he's like in the movie like these.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: Cars are like and then it goes over the train and.
- 1:19:52Speaker 9: It's got vindies he's big muscly man it's just like
- 1:19:55Speaker 9: this little kid is telling this whole story and that
- 1:19:57Speaker 9: was the whole time i was watching this is like
- 1:19:59Speaker 9: it reminds me of that like some little seven-year-old was
- 1:20:01Speaker 9: like And then the thing comes out and eats the
- 1:20:04Speaker 9: rock people.
- 1:20:05Speaker 7: That video was fucking hilarious.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: And then the helicopter attacks.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: And the people in the.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Interview are like, oh, it looks like someone's sleepy head.
- 1:20:16Speaker 19: He takes his shoes off. He just takes a nap
- 1:20:19Speaker 19: on the couch in the middle of the interview.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: Like I said, just thrown out there.
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: You never see things actually. put out in that state
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: very often. And this was.
- 1:20:31Speaker 9: It's like the exquisite corpse game or something. It's like
- 1:20:33Speaker 9: the screenwriter, somebody would write a few sentences and just
- 1:20:36Speaker 9: pass it over and somebody would continue and pass it.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: It's not even like ripping off the Animal Attack movies
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: as much as it's following the formula of sci-fi movies
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: at this point. Because the more I started looking at it,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I was like, because again, I kind of liked... Sharktopus,
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: for what it was, it's equally as dumb, but it's
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: actually a little more enjoyable.
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: Roger Corman.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: I'll give him credit. Whatever they did had a little
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: more sense of humor to it, and I think it
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: was a little more tongue-in-cheek. But looking at it, it's
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: the exact same thing in that Tiffany movie is the
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: exact same. Every time, specifically Sharktopus, though, there's a creature,
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: and then they call in the big game hunter. They
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: do that in both of those movies before this. And
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: it's always a guy who's not... legitimate tough guy at all.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: He doesn't even play a good tough guy. So I
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: don't know why they keep hiring the wrong guy for
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: that role. And then they bring it in and it
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: follows this exact pattern every time to the point that
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I'm just like, do you really have to watch the
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: new ones? They're all kind of interchangeable.
- 1:21:38Speaker 9: So it's gotten to the point where the joke is
- 1:21:40Speaker 9: just played out at this point.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it kind of is.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: I hate, I mean, it's almost pointless to pick certain
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: things apart, especially plot-wise. But when they've You have an
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: army of rednecks that are on Danny Bonaduce's side, plus
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: Barry Williams and the ultralight, and the National Guard and
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: the police department are all chasing it. And they have
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: the big fight where the ultralight goes down. They're all
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: shooting it, and they've completely surrounded it. And then it's
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: like it almost jumps, and he's somehow escaped. And you've
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: got news helicopters and... Army helicopters and following a 50-foot
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: tall being that shakes the ground when it walks, but
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: they can't catch it. They can't even find it. Oh,
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: we lost it.
- 1:22:31Speaker 7: What do you mean we lost it?
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: This is the same guy who can't get a clear shot.
- 1:22:38Speaker 7: It looked too human.
- 1:22:39Speaker 10: I couldn't.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: I know you can make it so that, you know,
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: I don't know. It just wasn't even halfway. It's like
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: they lost a page of the script.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: Wait, there was a script?
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: Right, I don't know.
- 1:22:59Speaker 19: I think the people who made this movie were the
- 1:23:01Speaker 19: people who, in school, didn't like to proofread their papers
- 1:23:06Speaker 19: before turning it in.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: Wait, I made this?
- 1:23:09Speaker 19: This was just a movie made entirely by those people.
- 1:23:13Speaker 19: And they just kind of carried that into editing.
- 1:23:17Speaker 10: I got to say, though, there was one part in
- 1:23:19Speaker 10: it I really, really, I don't know, I was really amused.
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: I guess that's the best word.
- 1:23:29Speaker 10: The whole safe Bigfoot political movement. And the reason I
- 1:23:34Speaker 10: was laughing at it is because, you know, the Greg
- 1:23:38Speaker 10: Brady and all those little acolytes, you know, were saying that,
- 1:23:42Speaker 10: you know, it, you need to get rid of your
- 1:23:46Speaker 10: four-wheelers and turn off your electricity and basically go back
- 1:23:50Speaker 10: to pioneer days and then the Bigfoot won't come and
- 1:23:55Speaker 10: get you. He was basically using the Bigfoot to push
- 1:23:57Speaker 10: his environmental agenda. And I was laughing at that because
- 1:24:07Speaker 10: there are Bigfoot believers out there who believe that that
- 1:24:11Speaker 10: is the exact same scenario to explain why the U.S.
- 1:24:15Speaker 10: government denies the existence of Bigfoot. Basically, the theory goes
- 1:24:21Speaker 10: that the U.S. government sees Bigfoot as an eight-foot spotted owl.
- 1:24:27Speaker 10: And they remember all the insanity that happened in the
- 1:24:31Speaker 10: 80s or the 90s, whenever it was, just over the
- 1:24:34Speaker 10: spotted owl and all the environmental protests and the Logging problems.
- 1:24:39Speaker 10: So the theory is, like, if Bigfoot is ever proven
- 1:24:42Speaker 10: to be true, it would bring logging to a standstill.
- 1:24:47Speaker 10: You would cordon off areas as big as freaking states
- 1:24:50Speaker 10: to use as Bigfoot reserves, you know. So because of that,
- 1:24:56Speaker 10: the theory is that the U.S. government will never admit
- 1:24:59Speaker 10: that it exists. And if anyone ever finds one, they
- 1:25:03Speaker 10: send in the men in black to get the bodies
- 1:25:06Speaker 10: and hide.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: It, you know.
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: There are stories out there about that. Yeah. Guys in
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: black trucks pull up and scrape up the body.
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: Is that why you had your, you know, put.
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: That fence up and hung up those signs? But yeah,
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: I mean, part of that is, you know, based on
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: kind of semi-logical history, you know. Yeah. But, They maintain
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: that it's just easier to.
- 1:25:29Speaker 4: Keep it a myth.
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: Let's keep it a myth, and then we won't have
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: to address it. That could be close to reality.
- 1:25:33Speaker 10: Kids, seriously, if you have never heard of the spotted
- 1:25:35Speaker 10: owl controversy, look it up, and then just multiply that
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: by like a thousand.
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: What was the fish, the little fish, too? There was
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: the red darter or something, the snail darter. They shut
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: down all kinds of stuff over there.
- 1:25:48Speaker 9: I'm sure if they ever re-spot the ivory-billed woodpecker, it'll
- 1:25:51Speaker 9: be the same thing.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: Same thing with salamanders. They do that all the time.
- 1:25:55Speaker 10: Which is honestly, I've never understood why extreme leftists do
- 1:25:59Speaker 10: not get behind the idea of Bigfoot for that exact reason.
- 1:26:04Speaker 10: If they could, it would push their environmental agenda to perfection.
- 1:26:09Speaker 7: To perfection.
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: Instead it's more of the right wing, you know, crazy guys.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Cause they want to have their guns so they can
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: shoot big.
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: They identify with big.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: It's a fight to be free.
- 1:26:20Speaker 7: Bigfoot exists.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: They do.
- 1:26:22Speaker 10: We can get rid of electricity and gas burning cars, man.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: You know, and then on the other side of that,
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: that the, the most popular, you know, four wheel drive, uh,
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: redneck smashing vehicle of all time was named bigfoot i
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: think we're on to something here true it's almost it's
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: almost ironic in name yeah.
- 1:26:52Speaker 7: Bigfoot is a greenpeace.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Warrior hey even bigfoot is a victim sorry that's just
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: And my favorite part of the flyers is like, save Bigfoot,
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: but it's got Greg Brady's face on it. Like, are
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: we claiming he's Bigfoot? Who put this marketing campaign together?
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:27:17Speaker 7: And I'm spent.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: It's like the only thing I can say for it,
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: and you were asking if it works as a horror movie. No,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: at best it works as a comedy, but not the
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: way it's supposed to. The way that it works is
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: much like you said, on the level of a seven-year-old child.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: Because there's still a point where every time he kicks
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: somebody into a tree, I fucking laugh. And I don't...
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: At one point, I'm like, why? Why am I still
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: laughing every time he swats somebody into a wall?
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: You're waiting for it to happen. There's a guy, there's Bigfoot,
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: he's going to hurt him. Dave or Greg, one of
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: you all have to show... your kids the movie and
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: see if they find it entertaining.
- 1:27:58Speaker 9: If they find it entertaining, the movie succeeded.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: If they are bored with it, you know, I don't know. I,
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: the only reason I watched it was for the show.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: I stopped it several times.
- 1:28:08Speaker 9: I was so, I was grading papers during.
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: Oh, you missed out all the nuances.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: I had to like go and like, Oh, I'm going
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: to go check a few things on the computer and Oh,
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: I'm going to go. I was making dinner and at
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: one point it was, it was hard.
- 1:28:26Speaker 7: My final question, the one thing I didn't get.
- 1:28:30Speaker 10: It is very well established that every time Bigfoot comes
- 1:28:35Speaker 10: up on someone, he picks them.
- 1:28:36Speaker 7: Up and bites their head off.
- 1:28:38Speaker 10: Why in the very end did he suddenly feel like,
- 1:28:40Speaker 10: I'm going to save these two douches who.
- 1:28:43Speaker 7: Are hanging off of Lincoln's brow?
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: And they even set that up like it was going
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: to make sense, because then he had the girl there,
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: and I'm like, okay, now they're totally going to King Kong.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: Beauty sues the savage beast, and he's going to like her,
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: and he's going to keep... No, he totally kills her,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: so I'm like, Well, if he didn't like her, if
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: she was kind of cute, why does he want these
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: two douchebags?
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: I think it was because it was the two enemies,
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: lifelong enemies. One was helping the other. And so that
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: was Bigfoot.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: That's what that was. We can all be at peace.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: I'm going to help him.
- 1:29:17Speaker 5: It's like Roy Batty on the building at the end
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: of Blade Runner.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: Exactly. Exactly right. Any life is hard.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: I got a lot of Blade Runner out of it. No, actually, maybe.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: See, that's the nuances of this movie.
- 1:29:27Speaker 9: Maybe it's more like Mary Poppins. She shows up, and
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: then once everyone's lives are better, then she leaves. Now,
- 1:29:34Speaker 9: she causes a lot of chaos for the people who
- 1:29:36Speaker 9: don't live in that one house.
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:29:38Speaker 9: But still, once that family gets back together, the deed
- 1:29:41Speaker 9: is done.
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: She leaves.
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: Same thing with Bigfoot.
- 1:29:44Speaker 9: It's like, once they've patched their friendship, the deed is done.
- 1:29:47Speaker 9: He can go back to the woods.
- 1:29:50Speaker 5: You took film classes, didn't you?
- 1:29:55Speaker 7: The wind changed it.
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: The agent of chaos.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Well, it is puzzling that Bruce Davison is in this,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: considering he's an Oscar nominee, an Emmy Award winner... For both,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: I think, writing and... Or for acting and directing. So it's... Yeah,
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: it's weird that he has anything to do with this, but.
- 1:30:14Speaker 9: Who was he nominated for an Oscar for?
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: A longtime companion. Oh, yeah.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:30:19Speaker 9: And there's... It's like, tell me before I just assume Willard.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: But... And again, you know, for geeks out there, he's
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: Senator Kelly from the X-Men movies. Yeah. But I don't know.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: The weird thing is he's only directed, like, two other things...
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: One was kind of like a kid's movie, but again,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: you said maybe they were all friends of him. The
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: kid's movie is about Christmas, and it stars Sherilyn Finn.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: So really, I'm starting to see maybe this was just
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: sort of, we all kind of know each other. Hey,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: you want to step in and direct this thing since
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: that guy fell out? It might have come together like that.
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: He fell off of Lincoln's face.
- 1:30:59Speaker 9: Or off the wagon, one of the two.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: But the other weird tie-in on the.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: After the big success of Harry and the Hendersons, they
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: made a TV series, The Dad, played by Bruce Davison. So,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: when you can't get John Lithgow... Yeah, he's the John
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: Lithgow for TV.
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: I think he directed some of those.
- 1:31:22Speaker 9: Yeah, that was his first directing. Bruce Davison is the
- 1:31:25Speaker 9: Big K. Cole version of John Lithgow?
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: Yes, yes he is. And I'm sure he puts that
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: on the top of his resume. Well, do we have
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: anything else on the Bigfoot fund here?
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: Don't watch it.
- 1:31:39Speaker 9: We can try, but.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: It's a little late for that. Don't watch it.
- 1:31:43Speaker 9: It's a little bit late for us.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: I did find this. In looking for stuff on one
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: of these sites, there was a quote, and I'll credit
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: Walt Cliff here. Walt, if you're out there listening, I
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: like this quote. He says... I spoke with Bigfoot's agent.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: He said that Bigfoot was forced to do this movie
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: due to contract obligations. However, he is mortified that he
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: will be sharing the screen with Greg Brady and Danny Partridge.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: I just thought that was kind of funny. I was like,
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: thank you, Walt. That kind of sums it all up
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: for us.
- 1:32:13Speaker 19: I think the tagline for this movie should just be,
- 1:32:17Speaker 19: way to fucking go.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: Isn't that every sci-fi movie? Asylum. Way to fucking go. Yeah.
- 1:32:28Speaker 9: Had this premiered in theaters, I just could have pictured that.
- 1:32:30Speaker 9: I've heard stories where allegedly like Janet Leigh and DeForest
- 1:32:35Speaker 9: Kelly and some of the others, like when they premiered
- 1:32:37Speaker 9: Night of the Lepus, they were just a classic, you know,
- 1:32:40Speaker 9: cowering in their seats and a couple, I think, even
- 1:32:42Speaker 9: left before the film was over. I can imagine the
- 1:32:44Speaker 9: same would have happened had this been shown in a
- 1:32:46Speaker 9: theater versus just.
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: Straight on television. Was there a premiere for this thing?
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: On SyFy.
- 1:32:50Speaker 19: I was going to say, I can just imagine a
- 1:32:54Speaker 19: red carpet event for sure.
- 1:32:56Speaker 9: I think there were similar stories from when they premiered
- 1:32:58Speaker 9: The Giant Claw. No one had seen The Giant Bird
- 1:33:01Speaker 9: before the movie premiered.
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: This was making the rounds in the Bigfoot world. Oh, cool,
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: they're going to do a Bigfoot movie with Alice Cooper.
- 1:33:07Speaker 7: And then they saw the trailer.
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: And even in the Bigfoot world, they're like, oh, man,
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: this sucks.
- 1:33:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: I'm crazy that people can recognize a terrible movie.
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: There were people with no sense of perspective.
- 1:33:19Speaker 10: There was a lot of hope, and then the actual
- 1:33:21Speaker 10: trailer came out, and it was universally praised.
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: The hell you say. Not this fine movie.
- 1:33:31Speaker 10: Sci-fi, the channel, you know, with all the wrestling and
- 1:33:35Speaker 10: the different name spelling, it's gotten so far away from
- 1:33:38Speaker 10: the concept of sci-fi. Could there actually legally be a
- 1:33:42Speaker 10: new cable channel that could call itself the science fiction
- 1:33:46Speaker 10: channel and still go?
- 1:33:47Speaker 9: We'll just call itself Sci-Fi SCI-FI again.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Yeah, even that and still get away with it.
- 1:33:53Speaker 7: I think so.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: They gave up the rights to it, I bet.
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: That could be part of their plan. Maybe they're going
- 1:33:57Speaker 5: to spin off the good stuff into some other realm
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: because it's just junk now.
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: Like coming up with Spike.
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: Well, they'll find a way to make you pay more
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: for it. It's like Boomerang and Cartoon Network.
- 1:34:07Speaker 9: Or like, what's the Nick at Night one? The TV
- 1:34:10Speaker 9: Land channel.
- 1:34:11Speaker 5: TV Land.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: I don't know if they want to pay extra for this.
- 1:34:14Speaker 7: Is there a Spanish language sci-fi channel?
- 1:34:17Speaker 11: Actually.
- 1:34:17Speaker 7: Chupacabra?
- 1:34:18Speaker 9: Well, I was going to say, actually, now that I
- 1:34:20Speaker 9: think about that, I probably would have found this entertaining
- 1:34:22Speaker 9: had it been in Spanish and I had no fucking
- 1:34:24Speaker 9: clue what people were saying.
- 1:34:25Speaker 10: Sure.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: Wait, that leads to the question, is there a Spanish-speaking
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: Danny Badaduchi somewhere?
- 1:34:32Speaker 7: I'm sure they have their equivalent of our Danny Badaduchi.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: If there's anyone out there listening in Mexico or some
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: Spanish-speaking country out there, let us know if... There's some
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: equivalent to Danny Badaducci or Greg Brady.
- 1:34:44Speaker 9: And then recommend the film to us as well.
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: And then let us know, yeah, what movie we need
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: to watch. Yeah, but it's got to be better than Bigfoot.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: Like I said to Brian, though, I think it was
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: right when I was done watching it, I said I
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: was glad they took a Tuesday and a half a
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: Wednesday to make this.
- 1:35:03Speaker 6: Yep.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: And they did a fine job with it.
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: It probably took as long to edit as it did
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: for me to watch it.
- 1:35:09Speaker 11: Mm-hmm.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: It took as long to make that title screen.
- 1:35:12Speaker 9: They made it in Windows Movie Maker. Just drop the
- 1:35:15Speaker 9: clips and call it done.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Isn't that how you do it?
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: Come on.
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: I think that should wrap up Bigfoot. So with any luck,
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: as the evil plans go, I'm assuming we'll be back
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: with more Bigfoot movies. We won't let this one break us.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: We're going to come back and find better Bigfoot movies
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: and continue this series.
- 1:35:37Speaker 7: You can only go up.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much.
- 1:35:39Speaker 5: Very true.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: At least, you know, we had a movie that had
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: Alice Cooper die for us. I guess that says something.
- 1:35:48Speaker 9: Because he died inside.
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: There's that whole sub-genre of.
- 1:35:51Speaker 10: We didn't really see him die. Maybe he was magically
- 1:35:54Speaker 10: saved and he'll come back in the sequel.
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: If you believe in Alice Cooper... Clap your hands.
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: They should have just made him shoot the final scene
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: and Alice Cooper.
- 1:36:04Speaker 7: Was the one that took him. Alice had a cardboard stick.
- 1:36:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: Alice really is the best part of this movie. Let's
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: face it. He's the reason it probably got made, and
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: he was the best part of it for the two
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: and a half minutes he was on screen. Otherwise, that
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: about does it. We will return next week. Same geek time,
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:36:23Speaker 13: A hundred numbers on my wall Some of the names
- 1:36:30Speaker 13: I sometimes call I drop the coin And watch it.
- 1:36:36Speaker 8: Fall Trying to get connected to you I thought that
- 1:36:45Speaker 8: I was all alone My.
- 1:36:48Speaker 13: Softest pillow turned his heart to stone This is.
- 1:36:53Speaker 15: The longest night on my.
- 1:36:55Speaker 8: Own Lying here thinking of you.
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: Sometimes I shake my head and I laugh to myself.
- 1:37:06Speaker 13: I'd like to start again with somebody else.
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: Well, I'm like a crooked toy forgotten on the shelf. Baby,
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: I could have been someone.
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: I could have been something.
- 1:37:19Speaker 8: It would have been nothing to die for you. Baby,
- 1:37:26Speaker 8: you're gonna need me. You better believe me.
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: It would have been easy.
- 1:37:33Speaker 6: To die for you.
- 1:37:45Speaker 13: A million memories flood my brain Drown my sorrow, kill
- 1:37:52Speaker 13: my pain Where's my firstborn?
- 1:37:57Speaker 6: Here we're again Just another night to.
- 1:38:01Speaker 13: Get through.
- 1:38:04Speaker 6: All my neighbors scream for quiet at my door Shattered glass.
- 1:38:10Speaker 13: And torn up photos on the floor Well, I couldn't
- 1:38:15Speaker 13: stand to see your pictures anymore.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: Baby, I could have been someone.
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: I could have been something.
- 1:38:23Speaker 11: It would have been nothing to die for you.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: Baby, you'll burn me down.
- 1:38:30Speaker 8: You better believe me it would have been easy to die.
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: For you these cuts are.
- 1:38:45Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:39:21Speaker 6: A billion teardrops falling from my eyes But it's just
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: a joke now and I'm laughing at your lies You
- 1:39:31Speaker 6: made me hardest rock, now.
- 1:39:33Speaker 7: I realize I could have been.
- 1:39:34Speaker 11: Someone I could have been something It would have been
- 1:39:41Speaker 11: nothing To die for you Oh, you're.

- 1:40:24Speaker 2: No. It was atmospheric.
