Transcript
- 0:00Good morning, everyone. Welcome back to Unlocking the
- 0:03Paradigm Portal. My name is Sarah.
- 0:05It is 6:00 AM on a Monday and 6:00 AM right after the time
- 0:11change. I am not enjoying this.
- 0:13May I just say that? And if you're here, that already
- 0:16tells me something about you, that you're not the kind of
- 0:19person who hit snooze on your personal growth.
- 0:22You might hit your snooze alarm on your phone, and that's OK.
- 0:25I hit it at least four or five times in the morning, so we're
- 0:29just going to cut to the chase and get into it.
- 0:31Last week I talked about the one stone rule, and that is the idea
- 0:34that you don't need a massive overhaul or a new year or a rock
- 0:38bottom moment or a Pinterest vision board to start building
- 0:41the life you want. However, Pinterest vision boards
- 0:45kind of fun to do. I just did 1.
- 0:47You just need one stone, one small deliberate action that you
- 0:52lay every single day in the direction of the person that
- 0:55you're choosing to become. That's it, that's how it starts.
- 0:58And I hope you laid some stones this past week and I hope you
- 1:01continue this week. And I hope that some of you
- 1:04named a thing or tried a thing or showed up a little
- 1:07differently than the week before because that's the whole point.
- 1:10It's not about perfection, it's about direction.
- 1:14But this week, I want to go somewhere deeper.
- 1:17Because before you can lay the right stones, do you actually
- 1:21know what you've been building? Because a lot of us have been
- 1:25super busy, and a lot of us have been working hard and showing up
- 1:28and trying and trying again. And we look up one day and we
- 1:31realized we built the same structure we swore we'd never
- 1:35live in again. The same relationship dynamic,
- 1:39different person, same conflict, different words, same feeling in
- 1:43your chest when it goes sideways.
- 1:45Different circumstances, same outcome.
- 1:48Does this sound familiar? Yeah, me too.
- 1:51So this week we're going somewhere that most people
- 1:54avoid. And this is based on my Sunday
- 1:57deep dive yesterday. That was entitled murder board.
- 2:00And just as a heads up, no murder was actually involved in
- 2:03the making of said murder board. It was about breaking down
- 2:06relationship patterns. Check it out.
- 2:09So we're going to look at the foundation, not to tear it down,
- 2:13and we're not going to blow anything up or stand in the
- 2:15rubble and feel bad about ourselves, but we're going to do
- 2:19it to finally, and I mean finally understand it.
- 2:23So here's the thing that nobody really wants to say at 6:00 AM
- 2:27on a Monday, but I'm going to because this is what I do.
- 2:30Every relationship you have ever been in, every single one had
- 2:36one consistent variable, One thing that was present in every
- 2:40dynamic, in every conflict, and in every pattern that kept
- 2:44showing up. And that, my friends, is you.
- 2:48Now before you get pissed off and turn this off, I need you to
- 2:51hear what I'm not saying. Let me just clarify this.
- 2:55I am not saying everything was your fault, and I'm not saying
- 2:58that the people who hurt you didn't hurt you.
- 3:00And I am not saying that your pain was not real or that you
- 3:04caused it. That is not what this is.
- 3:08I'm saying this not as a weapon and not a shame, as information,
- 3:12because here's what's actually true.
- 3:15The pattern that keeps showing up in your relationships, the
- 3:18one you've talked about with your best friend or your
- 3:20therapist or your coach or your journal at 2:00 in the morning.
- 3:24That pattern doesn't live in the other person.
- 3:27It can't. They're gone, new person, same
- 3:30pattern, which means it never lived in them.
- 3:33And that might be a hard truth to really have sink in.
- 3:37It lives in you and what you're drawn to and what you find
- 3:42familiar and what you've learned to call love and what you
- 3:46tolerate because some part of you believes that's what you're
- 3:49worth and what you keep choosing, even when there's a
- 3:53voice somewhere inside of you that knows better, that's been
- 3:57knowing better and that you've been overriding for years.
- 4:00And that's not a character flaw. Let me say that one more time.
- 4:04That is not a character flaw. That is an attachment pattern
- 4:08running on autopilot. And it was built a very long
- 4:12time ago in a much smaller body by a much younger version of you
- 4:16who was doing the absolute best that they could with what they
- 4:19had. That kid was resourceful.
- 4:22That kid was surviving, and we're not here to blame that
- 4:26kid, but that kid is not in charge anymore.
- 4:29Or they really shouldn't be. And I don't like to use the
- 4:33should word. But in this case, if your inner
- 4:36child who is so wounded is in charge of the direction of your
- 4:40life, the should is going to come in there because the adult
- 4:43needs to take over. And a lot of the work that we do
- 4:47in this space and that I talk about all the time is exactly
- 4:51that, figuring out who is actually driving your life.
- 4:56Because the most important thing I can tell you this Monday
- 4:58morning is this. You cannot change what you
- 5:01refuse to see. I'm going to say that one more
- 5:05time. So it really sinks in.
- 5:07You cannot change what you refuse to see.
- 5:12Now, here's why this is actually good news.
- 5:14And I really need you to hear this part because everything
- 5:16that comes next depends upon it. If the pattern lives in you, you
- 5:21can change it. You might not believe it, but
- 5:23I'm telling you it's true. I'm living experience of that
- 5:26one. You cannot change the other
- 5:29person. You never could.
- 5:30And I know you tried. I know you tried having the
- 5:33conversation and then the different conversation and then
- 5:37maybe an ultimatum. And then you maybe tried
- 5:39silence. And silence builds resentment.
- 5:43And then maybe you decided to try again from a different
- 5:46angle. And I know.
- 5:48And it didn't work because you cannot install insight into
- 5:52another human being. You cannot want their healing
- 5:56for them more than they want it for themselves.
- 5:59You know this, you've probably known it for a while.
- 6:03But you, you are entirely within your own reach.
- 6:07Every single part of what needs to shift.
- 6:10The patterns, the beliefs, the old wiring, the autopilot that
- 6:13keeps steering you somewhere you've already been, all of it
- 6:16is yours to work with. That's not a burden, that is
- 6:19power. Seeing yourself as the common
- 6:22denominator isn't self blame, it is self authority.
- 6:26It is the moment, like the actual moment, that you stop
- 6:30outsourcing your healing to the behavior of other people and
- 6:34take the wheel back. It's the shift from why does
- 6:38this keep happening to me to why do I keep happening to this?
- 6:43And that is not a small shift. That is an entirely different
- 6:47life. Because when you ask why does
- 6:49this keep happening to me, you're stuck.
- 6:52You're waiting. You need someone else to change,
- 6:55to show up, to finally get it before anything can be
- 6:58different. You are at the mercy of
- 7:00variables that you cannot control.
- 7:03But when you change the question and ask, why do I keep showing
- 7:07up the same way? Now you have something to work
- 7:10with. Now you're in the room where the
- 7:13actual work happens. Now you are not waiting for
- 7:16anything or anyone. You are the answer and you are
- 7:20the agent of change. So that question, why do I keep
- 7:24showing up the same way? Is quite literally the most
- 7:27powerful question you will ever ask yourself.
- 7:31And it's also the most uncomfortable one.
- 7:34It will make you want to redirect to what they did or
- 7:36what they said or how they were. I know, but do it anyway.
- 7:41Ask the question anyway. Because here's the other thing
- 7:45that not a lot of people talk about The pattern.
- 7:48The one that keeps showing up. It's not random, and it's not
- 7:51bad luck, and it's not that you're cursed or broken or that
- 7:55love just isn't for you. The pattern is actually
- 7:58brilliant in its own way. It's your nervous system doing
- 8:02what nervous systems do, seeking the familiar.
- 8:06It's recreating what it knows how to navigate, even when what
- 8:10it knows how to navigate is chaos.
- 8:12Even when what it knows how to navigate is heartbreak, even
- 8:16when what it knows how to navigate is loneliness.
- 8:20That wound is not stupid, it's incredibly efficient.
- 8:23It just needs updated instructions.
- 8:27So stop waiting for different people start showing up
- 8:30differently yourself. So here is your Monday stone.
- 8:35The one thing that's it. I'm not asking you to overhaul
- 8:39your attachment style before Wednesday.
- 8:41I'm not asking you to go back through every relationship and
- 8:44perform a forensic analysis. Although I did that again,
- 8:48reference that video yesterday. Super enlightening.
- 8:53That is not the stone that is like the mountain of boulders.
- 8:57You don't have to go there. The stone is smaller than that.
- 9:01I want you to think about one pattern that you can see in your
- 9:04relationships, past or present, not theirs.
- 9:07Yours take ownership of this one thing that you keep doing or
- 9:13tolerating or reaching for or running from.
- 9:17One thing that, if you're honest with yourself, you've seen
- 9:21before, maybe in a different apartment or a different house,
- 9:25or with a different person, or with a slightly different flavor
- 9:28or texture, but the same feeling underneath.
- 9:32Maybe it's that you leave before you can be left.
- 9:36Maybe it's that you stay long past the expiration date because
- 9:39the idea of starting over is more frightening than staying
- 9:42somewhere that stopped working. Maybe you go quiet when you
- 9:46should speak up, and maybe you come out swinging when what you
- 9:50actually need is to say I'm scared.
- 9:53And maybe you pick the unavailable partner every time
- 9:56and then wonder why you feel alone inside the relationship.
- 10:00I'm not going to tell you which one it is.
- 10:02You already know. You've known for a while, and
- 10:05the knowing isn't usually the problem.
- 10:07The problem is we don't say it out loud.
- 10:10We keep it in the thought loop where it can spin indefinitely
- 10:12and never quite become real enough to work with.
- 10:15So today, that's the stone. Name it out loud if you can, in
- 10:20your car, in your kitchen, in your notes app.
- 10:22I don't care where, wherever you are right now, just say the
- 10:25thing. I do this.
- 10:27I have been doing this and I see it.
- 10:30Own it for yourself. Accountability.
- 10:34That's it. Don't fix it today.
- 10:36Don't analyze it to death or trace it back to your childhood
- 10:38or make it mean something catastrophic about like who you
- 10:41are. None of that is today's
- 10:43assignment. Today's assignment is 1
- 10:44sentence, the acknowledgement, because here is what I know for
- 10:48certain, you cannot work with what you won't acknowledge.
- 10:53The naming is just the beginning.
- 10:54It's not the end, not the hard part, not the dramatic
- 10:57breakthrough. It is the beginning.
- 10:58And I know it's scary and I'm here with you.
- 11:01The moment you say I see this in myself, you have just moved from
- 11:04the passenger to the driver and everything that comes next is
- 11:10you can navigate it from there. That's your stone for today.
- 11:14Name the pattern. Everything else this week builds
- 11:17from there. Thank you for joining me this
- 11:20morning. I will be back Wednesday for the
- 11:22next installment of this particular series and I will be
- 11:26back Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday night at 9:00 PM for Light in
- 11:29the Dark Sunday's Deep Dive. We're going even more into
- 11:32relationships. The theme for this whole week
- 11:35and pretty much all upcoming themes is going to be
- 11:39surrounding relationships. If you have questions, ideas,
- 11:42thoughts, comments about relationships, patterns you've
- 11:44seen, leave them in the comments.
- 11:46I will pull it into some of the conversations.
- 11:49Thank you. Have a really incredible Monday.
- 11:52I am not working because it's Monday and I don't work on
- 11:55Monday, so have a lovely day.
