- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey guys, welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast. It's been
- 0:08Speaker 2: forever since we've had something to recap in Bachelor Nation,
- 0:11Speaker 2: and we were very excited that this week, the new
- 0:14Speaker 2: HGTV renovation competition show with twelve Bachelor alumni has premiered,
- 0:19Speaker 2: and we're gonna break it all down, give us, give
- 0:22Speaker 2: you our honest thoughts. Ben, My my honest thoughts are.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I loved the first half of the episode. I smiled
- 0:33Speaker 2: through it. I loved seeing so many familiar faces. This
- 0:38Speaker 2: is kind of what I've always wanted them to do,
- 0:40Speaker 2: some sort of spin off competition show so that we
- 0:44Speaker 2: could see our favorites again in a more competitive environment
- 0:47Speaker 2: where love isn't necessarily involved. I did think it was
- 0:51Speaker 2: too long, two hours seems. I thought it may have
- 0:54Speaker 2: been even half an hour, just thinking HGTV show, and
- 0:57Speaker 2: I was like, oh, no, you know a lot of
- 0:58Speaker 2: HGTV shows maybe an How when I saw it was
- 1:00Speaker 2: two hours, that was too much, and I think it
- 1:04Speaker 2: turned out to be. What were your takeaway thoughts?
- 1:08Speaker 3: I want to start by saying, if you have not
- 1:10Speaker 3: watched this episode of the renovation show when they renovate
- 1:14Speaker 3: the Bachelor Mansion. I would stop this podcast right now
- 1:19Speaker 3: because there's gonna be a ton of spoilers. We're going
- 1:21Speaker 3: to break down who went home, how things went, what
- 1:23Speaker 3: we thought. If you have no interest in watching the episode,
- 1:26Speaker 3: but listening to our podcast, and I would say keep
- 1:28Speaker 3: this podcast going. We will break down everything we saw, experienced,
- 1:32Speaker 3: and felt during the episode. There will be spoilers during
- 1:37Speaker 3: this podcast. Okay, now goodbye. My thoughts were this. I
- 1:43Speaker 3: loved the idea when it started. When we were first
- 1:46Speaker 3: told that the Bachelor Mansion was going to be renovated,
- 1:50Speaker 3: I was very excited to watch this happen. I still am.
- 1:53Speaker 3: And as you said, some of Bachelor Nation favorites are
- 1:57Speaker 3: showing up to help out at the mansion, and I
- 2:00Speaker 3: love I love that we get to see some of
- 2:02Speaker 3: the individual skill sets of some of the people that
- 2:06Speaker 3: we've watched only really you know, communicate their romantic ideals previously.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Now we get to see more of who they are
- 2:14Speaker 3: in real life. The Dean Aunglerts, the Dean Bells, I
- 2:17Speaker 3: guess his skill sets.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Noah, Jill Jill, I.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Mean, Jill is one of the craziest jobs in the
- 2:23Speaker 3: United States. She said, it's not high paying, but Jill
- 2:27Speaker 3: is helping preserve the mansions in Newport. It's a spectacular job,
- 2:34Speaker 3: one that I've enjoyed every year for Christmas for the
- 2:38Speaker 3: last you know, four years.
- 2:40Speaker 2: It's wonderful miss where Jared and I got married. And
- 2:43Speaker 2: I'm actually taking Dawson to one of the mansions today,
- 2:46Speaker 2: just like as a mom. It's like a mom son date.
- 2:50Speaker 2: I was like, what can I.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Take him on the hill?
- 2:51Speaker 2: Think is like really cool, but like also a little
- 2:53Speaker 2: bit adult, and so that's where.
- 2:56Speaker 5: I was like, then we're going to a castle. We're
- 2:57Speaker 5: going to go to a castle.
- 3:00Speaker 3: A couple questions I have before the show started that
- 3:03Speaker 3: I still.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Have, Sam, I have questions, what are yours?
- 3:07Speaker 4: You know?
- 3:07Speaker 3: I think we're in order to break this down concisely
- 3:10Speaker 3: and accurately, we'll have the two two sections, the things
- 3:13Speaker 3: we loved and the things we disliked, and then some
- 3:15Speaker 3: of the questions that are pending after the first episode.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Let's start with some of the pending questions. My question
- 3:22Speaker 3: is what are they doing this for? Is it strictly
- 3:25Speaker 3: for the Bachelor? Because in years previous, as we've talked
- 3:28Speaker 3: about on the podcast, there's a family that lives in
- 3:31Speaker 3: that home. The Bachelor comes in for a few weeks
- 3:35Speaker 3: every year, takes the mansion over, redecorates, repaints, puts up
- 3:41Speaker 3: some new like pillows and decorations, and then the cast
- 3:45Speaker 3: moves in. Well, what they did after the first episode
- 3:48Speaker 3: makes me feel like this mansion is only going to
- 3:51Speaker 3: be used for the Bachelor because now there's permanent bunk
- 3:54Speaker 3: beds and there's permanent fixtures. Things have changed a lot,
- 3:59Speaker 3: and so what are we doing this for. Is it
- 4:01Speaker 3: for the family or is it for the show?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Okay, so that was my biggest question, And I wasn't
- 4:05Speaker 2: sure whether that was a question that I had.
- 4:07Speaker 5: Lingering in the back of my mind.
- 4:08Speaker 2: More because we've lived in it, we have a personal
- 4:11Speaker 2: tie to it, and we have known that Marshall has,
- 4:15Speaker 2: you know, built the house, lived in the house for
- 4:17Speaker 2: twenty plus years, and the fact that it's always in
- 4:20Speaker 2: turnover between family and the show. I think a casual
- 4:24Speaker 2: viewer probably wouldn't take that into consideration so much.
- 4:27Speaker 5: They probably think that ABC owns the house.
- 4:30Speaker 2: But as far as we know the beginning, there's a
- 4:34Speaker 2: little clip of Marshall saying that you know how he
- 4:38Speaker 2: thought of designing the house after our favorite spot in Italy,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and it says underneath in his lower third that he
- 4:46Speaker 2: is the original owner. So I'm like, okay, so did
- 4:51Speaker 2: you sell the house because now is it just a
- 4:53Speaker 2: set house? Because if it is, that makes that means
- 4:56Speaker 2: like truly they can do whatever they want. Or is
- 5:00Speaker 2: he giving them the space to just totally renovate the place,
- 5:05Speaker 2: because I think he got divorced from his wife and
- 5:07Speaker 2: I just don't know if the house is like as
- 5:09Speaker 2: much of a center point to the family anymore.
- 5:12Speaker 4: It is a question.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I would have loved for that to be explained, because
- 5:16Speaker 3: I do think it has a massive piece of the storyline.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Who are we doing this for? Is the question?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Are we doing this for the twenty people to move
- 5:25Speaker 3: in every year, or are we doing this for a
- 5:26Speaker 3: family and how they're going to function inside the home.
- 5:30Speaker 4: It came to my.
- 5:32Speaker 3: I got emotional. I didn't like cry, but I felt something.
- 5:38Speaker 3: When the girls were renovating their room and they talked
- 5:43Speaker 3: about removing the access to the fireplace, those beautiful fireplaces.
- 5:48Speaker 5: It's like, what are you guys thinking.
- 5:51Speaker 3: That's when I was like, whose house is this? Yeah,
- 5:53Speaker 3: somebody here has to step in because if you make
- 5:56Speaker 3: that fireplace inaccessible, if you take away, yeah, maybe they're
- 6:00Speaker 3: in the Bachelor. We didn't light it, that's a massive hazard.
- 6:03Speaker 3: But that family has to be lighting that fireplace often.
- 6:07Speaker 3: It is an amazing fireplace. It's gorgeous in so many ways.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I was very concerned for a second that they were
- 6:16Speaker 3: going to replace something that is spectacular with.
- 6:22Speaker 4: What were they going to do? Use it for storage?
- 6:24Speaker 2: Yeah, they wanted to use it for storge Oh okay,
- 6:27Speaker 2: we actually just got a text from our producer. Marshall
- 6:30Speaker 2: is still the owner during the Reno show. Anyway, Ben
- 6:33Speaker 2: and I have had plenty of encounters with Marshall, so
- 6:37Speaker 2: we do feel attached to it to a certain different way.
- 6:40Speaker 2: But yeah, fireplace. That would have been crazy to get
- 6:43Speaker 2: rid of that gorgeous fireplace. But I liked that. Jill
- 6:46Speaker 2: as the preservation is here and it is preserving history. Okay,
- 6:49Speaker 2: it's Bachelor Nation history. It's very important. The fireplace needed
- 6:53Speaker 2: to stay, in her opinion, and so did the tiles,
- 6:57Speaker 2: and I totally agreed, and I'm glad the tiles stayed there.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And I'm glad that when these rooms were remodeled, it's
- 7:03Speaker 2: still remained still like in the theme with.
- 7:06Speaker 5: The Mediterranean vibes at the mansion.
- 7:09Speaker 2: My favorite thing that they added was the outdoor furniture,
- 7:15Speaker 2: jazzing up those two balconies, because the balconies, well, they
- 7:18Speaker 2: weren't used very often, but it was used by the
- 7:20Speaker 2: girls just for makeup reasons, because it's one of the
- 7:23Speaker 2: only places that you can get good lighting in that mansion.
- 7:26Speaker 5: It's very dim.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I wish that the girls, honestly, this would have been
- 7:31Speaker 2: one of the things where it would have been useful
- 7:33Speaker 2: to know is it only a set or is it
- 7:36Speaker 2: just or is it a house? Sometimes because if it's
- 7:39Speaker 2: always a set, they should have put some vanities in
- 7:42Speaker 2: the girl's room, they should have put some you know, bulbs.
- 7:46Speaker 3: But overall, the whole point of the show is to
- 7:49Speaker 3: renovate a mansion that does need a renovation. I'm all
- 7:52Speaker 3: for it. The home has not been touched for many years.
- 7:56Speaker 3: It's been beat up by casts and crew walking and
- 8:00Speaker 3: trumpling through it. It has so many beautiful aspects of
- 8:04Speaker 3: the mansion. As Marshall said at the beginning, he did this,
- 8:08Speaker 3: built this house in his way because of his inspiration
- 8:11Speaker 3: from traveling abroad, and I think that house feels that
- 8:15Speaker 3: way when you're in it. It very much feels like
- 8:18Speaker 3: a tuscan escape, more than any other parts of Italy.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I think it feels like a tuscan escape because of
- 8:26Speaker 3: the place that it sits, the hill that it sits on,
- 8:29Speaker 3: the arches, and the stucco and the tiles. It has
- 8:33Speaker 3: beautiful bones and it's a beautiful home. It just needed
- 8:38Speaker 3: some care. So let me be clear, I'm all for
- 8:41Speaker 3: this show happening in the way it is. I just
- 8:44Speaker 3: want to understand who we're doing this for, what we're
- 8:47Speaker 3: doing this, and who maybe is going to be the
- 8:51Speaker 3: ultimate say And no, let's not get rid of a fireplace.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Let's maybe keep the fireplaces. Let's keep some of the
- 8:58Speaker 3: things that make this place iconic, but just touch it
- 9:01Speaker 3: up a bit.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Also, I'm sorry our group message is blowing up. I've
- 9:08Speaker 2: actually heard from Amy sugar Bean Intew, our executive producer.
- 9:10Speaker 2: She's thrown a lot of parties there, so she's had
- 9:12Speaker 2: to work with Marshall. Apparently he isn't really the owner.
- 9:15Speaker 2: He's managed the property, he used to own it but hasn't.
- 9:19Speaker 5: For a while.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Still doesn't give us any information though as to whether
- 9:23Speaker 2: or not this is ever going to be a normal
- 9:24Speaker 2: house or whether it's going to be a set.
- 9:26Speaker 3: As we continue on in the show, as Ashley mentioned
- 9:29Speaker 3: in the beginning, there are some familiar faces that we
- 9:31Speaker 3: know and love. Ashley, just for the sake of a reminder,
- 9:36Speaker 3: let's go through very quickly the cast members that showed
- 9:40Speaker 3: up to the mansion.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Okay, so Jill jen A is obviously, as we said,
- 9:44Speaker 2: an architictual historian. Makes sense while she's there. Noah married
- 9:49Speaker 2: to Abigail from Bachelor in Paradise.
- 9:51Speaker 5: They do Homer. They like flip their entire house together.
- 9:54Speaker 2: They did a lot of it on Instagram, document documenting
- 9:58Speaker 2: your room room. He was firtatious season and oddly I
- 10:02Speaker 2: was like, who who didn't live at this mansion? Why
- 10:06Speaker 2: are these guys saying that they didn't live at the mansion.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, that's right because during COVID they
- 10:09Speaker 2: didn't film at the mansion. And then Sam, he only
- 10:13Speaker 2: had one night at the mansion because Gen season didn't
- 10:15Speaker 2: really film there either. Joan is an interior designer.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Wait time out, I forget why did Gen season not
- 10:23Speaker 4: film there? Did they start traveling.
- 10:25Speaker 2: They just start traveling. I think you woul kind of
- 10:27Speaker 2: do with Golden. I think they're like taking like a
- 10:29Speaker 2: time off from there or something, but they like I
- 10:32Speaker 2: think she basically cheers with them and said, we're.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Not going to use the house.
- 10:36Speaker 4: I don't remember that, but that's a really interesting bit.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I know, I didn't remember it until Sam reminded me
- 10:44Speaker 2: of it. Okay, So then Jeremy same season also didn't
- 10:48Speaker 2: live there.
- 10:48Speaker 5: Crazy Dean.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So yeah, like I was saying, Dean has done a
- 10:52Speaker 2: whole bunch of like art in their house.
- 10:53Speaker 5: I mean what he does.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Does he like have a professional background in a No,
- 10:57Speaker 2: but he's very like crafts He's got like craftsman hands.
- 11:01Speaker 5: He like knows how to build a.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Creage, built a ton of things for their home, and
- 11:05Speaker 3: it's something that he's passionate about and he's really good
- 11:08Speaker 3: at it.
- 11:09Speaker 5: So good.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Then we have Tammy. She's been in real estate for
- 11:13Speaker 2: a long time. She also has a design background. Chris
- 11:17Speaker 2: you know from Golden Bachelorette. He's a general contractor. Sam
- 11:21Speaker 2: also general contractor Sam you guys know from Gen season.
- 11:25Speaker 2: And then Courtney Robertson real estate agent Sandra real estate
- 11:30Speaker 2: agent Jeremy this he was the most Does he belong
- 11:36Speaker 2: to me? He's a property investor. Brendan, who we know
- 11:41Speaker 2: as the villain from Tatius season, Well, he wasn't a
- 11:45Speaker 2: villa on Tatious season but on the following Bachelor in
- 11:47Speaker 2: Paradise with big scandal about pre planning situations and blah
- 11:53Speaker 2: blah blah.
- 11:54Speaker 4: He has a girlfriend now from the.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Show, right, yeah, yeah, he dated the girl that he
- 11:58Speaker 2: had the whole controversy with. They lasted quite a while
- 12:02Speaker 2: and now he's with another girl from the show slipping
- 12:04Speaker 2: in my mind too then, but he like makes so
- 12:08Speaker 2: much sense because he's a commercial roofer and painter. And
- 12:11Speaker 2: then Ali Yisha, she is an interior designer of still
- 12:16Speaker 2: is so funny. When Alisha walks in, she's like, oh no,
- 12:20Speaker 2: because they had beef on this past season of Bachelor
- 12:24Speaker 2: and Paradise. And then just to make notes, Tasha has
- 12:28Speaker 2: two x's there in Brendan and uh noah, all right.
- 12:36Speaker 2: So then basically Jesse tells everyone that there's one hundred
- 12:40Speaker 2: thousand dollars at stake, one person will be making it.
- 12:42Speaker 2: They're gonna be divided into two teams, girls versus guys,
- 12:46Speaker 2: and then there will be some eliminations along the way.
- 12:48Speaker 2: They first start off with the challenge where they have
- 12:51Speaker 2: to like it's just like a you know, kind of
- 12:54Speaker 2: like a fast challenge. It's a mental thing, and this
- 12:58Speaker 2: is going to get somebody immunity. It ends up being Dean.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I was very happy it was Dean because just seeing
- 13:05Speaker 2: deep like I want to see Dean on my screen
- 13:07Speaker 2: at all times, Like he just makes you so happy.
- 13:12Speaker 2: He is just such a special human being. And I
- 13:15Speaker 2: feel like we all need a dose of Dean on
- 13:18Speaker 2: TV all the time, just so that we can like
- 13:21Speaker 2: get some brightness in our life.
- 13:22Speaker 3: You know what's interesting about Dean. He's one of my
- 13:25Speaker 3: best friends in the world. Yeah, I love him deeply.
- 13:29Speaker 3: But when you're with Dean in person, he can come
- 13:35Speaker 3: off as a little apathetic at times, right, Like he
- 13:38Speaker 3: just like is go with the flow, chill, but he
- 13:42Speaker 3: always is like coke kind of poking and prodding. You
- 13:45Speaker 3: put him on a TV screen.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Oh yeah, And he's like a leader.
- 13:48Speaker 3: He's boisterous and passionate and confident, and I'm like, who
- 13:54Speaker 3: where is this guy?
- 13:56Speaker 2: He has multiple personalities, They're all right to me. I
- 14:00Speaker 2: love him in this zone.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Well, it's a comfortable zone for him. It's also, I
- 14:05Speaker 3: think a show that doesn't intimidate him. I don't know
- 14:07Speaker 3: if any experiences intimidate Dean. He's done a lot of
- 14:10Speaker 3: crazy things in his life, but this feels very much
- 14:12Speaker 3: like we're gonna see Dean Bell come alive. It might
- 14:17Speaker 3: be one of the reasons why his wife really pushed
- 14:19Speaker 3: him to do this.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Oh why did she even have to push, Like, didn't
- 14:23Speaker 2: come on your We had a golf.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Trip plan in the middle of it.
- 14:29Speaker 4: It was a tough it was a tough yes, but no,
- 14:33Speaker 4: I mean he does. And it's fun to.
- 14:35Speaker 3: See Dean come alive like this because when he comes alive,
- 14:39Speaker 3: he is he always is. But when he comes alive,
- 14:42Speaker 3: he is one of those people that stand out and
- 14:44Speaker 3: light up a room. He's a huge character during this
- 14:48Speaker 3: show because he has that it factor, right, He has
- 14:51Speaker 3: that ability to jump off on your screens, which not
- 14:54Speaker 3: everybody does. And it doesn't mean since you've been on
- 14:57Speaker 3: TV you have it either.
- 14:58Speaker 4: So I'm with.
- 14:59Speaker 3: You, Dean was a huge win for them, Ashley. I
- 15:02Speaker 3: do want to pause you here though, before we keep
- 15:05Speaker 3: diving into the episode. I watched the episode but there
- 15:08Speaker 3: is a moment where this location scout comes in and
- 15:12Speaker 3: talks about how she found the Bachelor mansion, but she
- 15:14Speaker 3: has like a pony with her. I don't know the why,
- 15:19Speaker 3: what's the pony about?
- 15:20Speaker 5: I just don't even know why these two interviews existed.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Well, they were kind of fun.
- 15:24Speaker 2: It was a snippet from Marshall which actually just ends
- 15:28Speaker 2: up confusing the audience. And then there's a snippet from
- 15:31Speaker 2: this lady who scouted the house. She was the one
- 15:34Speaker 2: who found the house for the show, and she just
- 15:37Speaker 2: has a random pony with her, which I mean, we
- 15:40Speaker 2: don't know why, right, No.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I want to know what the pony's about. Really, I like,
- 15:44Speaker 3: I'm very curious on why there was a pony there.
- 15:47Speaker 3: It just I don't know. Some producers like it'll be
- 15:49Speaker 3: funny if she's petting a pony. It is funny, yeah,
- 15:52Speaker 3: but it doesn't make any sense at all. Ashley a
- 16:06Speaker 3: little some data on this house.
- 16:11Speaker 5: Oh gosh, don't make me do this.
- 16:13Speaker 4: No, I got it.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Oh okay, okay.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I thought you were going to have me do the
- 16:16Speaker 2: math that they did for the challenge, and I was like,
- 16:18Speaker 2: I do not I can't do that.
- 16:19Speaker 4: I want to you.
- 16:21Speaker 3: The house's ten thousand square feet. It sits on nine
- 16:23Speaker 3: acres of property. That's incredible in Los Angeles. Seven bedrooms,
- 16:27Speaker 3: eight bathrooms. I don't even know where all the eight
- 16:31Speaker 3: bathrooms are. I could name some of them are hidden
- 16:34Speaker 3: from us.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I could name.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Five that I know of that we had access to
- 16:38Speaker 3: or could finagle our way into. But there must be
- 16:40Speaker 3: some bathrooms hidden that I've never seen.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Well, I think we should mention that the house has
- 16:47Speaker 5: a wing to.
- 16:48Speaker 2: It that the cast never sees.
- 16:52Speaker 5: There's part of the house I haven't seen.
- 16:54Speaker 4: It's over on the garage area.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Two of the downstairs bedrooms are used for interview rooms.
- 17:00Speaker 2: So then we are left with the three upstairs bedrooms,
- 17:04Speaker 2: which has a total of three bathrooms upstairs, and then
- 17:07Speaker 2: we have two bathrooms downstairs. One is a powder room
- 17:10Speaker 2: and the other one actually has a shower, and I
- 17:12Speaker 2: used to use that shower because it was the most private.
- 17:15Speaker 3: The whole show is set up for eliminations. As Ashley mentioned,
- 17:19Speaker 3: Jesse shares that one hundred thousand dollars will go to
- 17:22Speaker 3: the winner of this season. In each episode, multiple people,
- 17:27Speaker 3: if not one person, if not multiple people will be
- 17:31Speaker 3: eliminated from the show coming down to the final winner
- 17:34Speaker 3: of the season. That was not a surprise to us.
- 17:38Speaker 3: We figured it would happen. However, it's a little bit
- 17:41Speaker 3: of a bummer to me how many people they removed
- 17:45Speaker 3: right away. That was tough because I want to see
- 17:49Speaker 3: so many of these people operating inside the house. And
- 17:52Speaker 3: I do believe that for time's sake on how quickly
- 17:56Speaker 3: they can make these innovations, the more people the better.
- 18:00Speaker 4: My two sins.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Also, as Ashley was very nervous, they start out the
- 18:06Speaker 3: episode pretty much with a immunity game. As soon as
- 18:11Speaker 3: they said it was gonna be math, I was like,
- 18:12Speaker 3: Dean's gonna crush it. Dean's incredible at math. He's a
- 18:15Speaker 3: smart guy. He does He doesn't always brag about his intelligence,
- 18:20Speaker 3: but he's got a brain. Uh that is pretty much
- 18:25Speaker 3: like a safe. He doesn't forget anything, which is very
- 18:28Speaker 3: scary as a friend. However, h Ashley, if you were
- 18:33Speaker 3: asked to be a part of this game, how well
- 18:37Speaker 3: would you have done when it comes to square footage?
- 18:39Speaker 5: See here you are no just how I'm not gonna
- 18:42Speaker 5: ask you to do it.
- 18:43Speaker 4: I'm just asking how well would you have done?
- 18:45Speaker 2: I mean, obviously I'm fine with doing like a great
- 18:49Speaker 2: multiplication division and stuff, and addie intertracting. I will say
- 18:54Speaker 2: with square footage, that was something I kind of learned
- 18:56Speaker 2: as of recently.
- 18:59Speaker 4: One time.
- 19:00Speaker 5: It's a classic.
- 19:01Speaker 2: It's just a classic memory in our marriage, Jared and
- 19:04Speaker 2: I were looking at lots to build a house on.
- 19:08Speaker 2: This is like four or five years ago, when I
- 19:11Speaker 2: had no concept of reality, when I was not a
- 19:14Speaker 2: mom yet, and my full concentration was on just building
- 19:18Speaker 2: the most beautiful house that has not yet to be yet.
- 19:20Speaker 2: And that's totally fine because I realized there's more important
- 19:23Speaker 2: things in life. Anyway, we were meeting with the real
- 19:27Speaker 2: estate agent and they're like, the thing is, you wouldn't
- 19:30Speaker 2: be able the house would have like a restriction on
- 19:32Speaker 2: the amount of square footage, like probably wouldn't want to
- 19:36Speaker 2: go like above.
- 19:39Speaker 5: Sixty or seven thousand on this property.
- 19:42Speaker 2: And I go, oh, well, I was thinking that we
- 19:45Speaker 2: need at least ten thousand square feet. And then Jared
- 19:48Speaker 2: was like, what in the world that is so embarrassed,
- 19:51Speaker 2: Like he was so embarrassed. I was like, yeah, my
- 19:53Speaker 2: parents have this ten thousand square feet. It's like, you know,
- 19:56Speaker 2: and actually my parents. Isn't ten thousand square feet and
- 19:59Speaker 2: we wouldn't never need a house as big as my parents.
- 20:01Speaker 5: But lo and behold, what I really meant was that I.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Wanted a house around like the five thousand square feet,
- 20:08Speaker 2: but I said ten thousand, and it was embarrassing.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I just think this is not an
- 20:13Speaker 3: easy If you don't know, square footage just would have
- 20:16Speaker 3: been an easy equation to figure out. But if you
- 20:19Speaker 3: know square footage, it's not hard, right. It's multiplication and
- 20:23Speaker 3: a little bit of subtraction and you're rocking and rolling.
- 20:27Speaker 3: But this is not embarrassing. Actually, I would never call
- 20:30Speaker 3: you out to put you on the spot when it
- 20:32Speaker 3: comes to math, because my wife is very smart. She
- 20:37Speaker 3: was an incredible student, and we talk often right now
- 20:40Speaker 3: about how much we've forgotten. Like if you told me
- 20:42Speaker 3: to do long division or any type of calculus, I
- 20:47Speaker 3: think I could still do algebra.
- 20:48Speaker 5: I never had to take calculus a little.
- 20:50Speaker 3: I do a little more geometry in my daily life
- 20:53Speaker 3: than anything else, and so I could probably figure it out.
- 20:55Speaker 4: But it's not perfect.
- 20:57Speaker 3: It's like messy and kind of like I'm trying a
- 21:00Speaker 3: bunch of different equations to try to figure out what
- 21:01Speaker 3: makes sense. It's not easy, and so don't feel bad.
- 21:05Speaker 3: I think as adults. Most adults would say, yeah, we've
- 21:10Speaker 3: forgotten math like it's it's okay. We were not a
- 21:13Speaker 3: walking calculator.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Oh man, you are giving me flashbacks at triggonometry.
- 21:18Speaker 5: I had to drop out of that class.
- 21:20Speaker 4: How did you do Trigg and not calculus?
- 21:22Speaker 2: Well, in college I had to do two math classes.
- 21:26Speaker 2: So I did college algebra, which is fantastic.
- 21:28Speaker 5: I loved that. I liked algebra. I always did well
- 21:30Speaker 5: in that, and then I had to do like one other.
- 21:33Speaker 4: You chose trigonometry. Wow, good for you.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Well wait, so you think that that's harder than calculus?
- 21:39Speaker 4: Yes?
- 21:41Speaker 5: Really yeah? Oh prod says yes too.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Oh so no, wonder why I had to drop out
- 21:46Speaker 2: of it by the tide of the dropout date, you
- 21:49Speaker 2: know how you have like three weeks or something easy?
- 21:52Speaker 3: Goodness, Actually it's not. No, trigonometry is not fun. I
- 21:58Speaker 3: would wish it upon nobody that didn't use it. Anyways,
- 22:01Speaker 3: Dean succeeds at winning this competition, which gives him the
- 22:05Speaker 3: Golden Hammer. I know he loves the innuendos with the
- 22:08Speaker 3: Golden Hammer, and Dean does it put that together. Oh,
- 22:13Speaker 3: I know what Dean's mind was thinking. Oh, he loves
- 22:16Speaker 3: that he has this golden hammer to swing around. Dean
- 22:18Speaker 3: wins the golden hammer, which gives him immunity for the week. Honestly,
- 22:23Speaker 3: as much as I love Dean, he's probably the worst
- 22:25Speaker 3: person to have immunity week one, because he's gonna come
- 22:27Speaker 3: out flying like he's going to just cause can.
- 22:31Speaker 5: He use this to his advantage?
- 22:34Speaker 2: But basically he's going to throw out the weirdest ideas,
- 22:37Speaker 2: like a blue roof, so that he can stick around.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Do you think that he would have suggested the Santorini
- 22:43Speaker 2: room if he didn't have immunity.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I like the blue roof, blue ceiling. I thought it
- 22:47Speaker 3: was great. Honestly, I do think Dean has well in
- 22:53Speaker 3: their house. They've painted a lot of their ceilings, and
- 22:55Speaker 3: so I think what Dean was thinking was, Hey, a
- 22:58Speaker 3: painted ceiling's in right now, and its ceiling.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Definitely, I didn't like the fact that now that room
- 23:05Speaker 2: is not cohesive with the Italian vibe of the rest
- 23:08Speaker 2: of the house, with more of the olive tones, more
- 23:13Speaker 2: neutral tones, and now there's this bright white and blue
- 23:16Speaker 2: room that doesn't fit in.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I want to get into that in a second, hold
- 23:20Speaker 3: that thought, okay, because I do think it's something to
- 23:23Speaker 3: get into, But I do I think he would have
- 23:25Speaker 3: recommended it. I doubt he would have been as confident
- 23:29Speaker 3: in his opinion without knowing that he was going to
- 23:32Speaker 3: be around.
- 23:34Speaker 5: Yeah, matter what you know, you.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Don't want to be the fall guy or the loudest
- 23:39Speaker 4: voice week one. You got to kind of get into
- 23:41Speaker 4: it a little bit.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Well, what do you want to get
- 23:44Speaker 2: into before we get into the guy's tasks?
- 23:48Speaker 3: Okay, So the show is set up, the competition is
- 23:52Speaker 3: set The guys will be responsible for two smaller bedrooms
- 23:57Speaker 3: and the girls will be The women will be responsible
- 24:00Speaker 3: for the larger bedroom with the fireplace. There is a
- 24:04Speaker 3: theme given to all of them, I believe, not really.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Okay, so it's kind of just shoot your shot and go.
- 24:13Speaker 3: And uh, was it fair that the guys had two
- 24:16Speaker 3: separate rooms to maneuver is a question I think viewers
- 24:21Speaker 3: will ask, and I would say, when it comes to
- 24:24Speaker 3: square footage jests, when you think about the details and
- 24:27Speaker 3: the dynamics of it, No, No, I think it had
- 24:30Speaker 3: been hard. One thing I'm gonna be worried about all season, Ashley,
- 24:35Speaker 3: and maybe I'm just too concerned about the family that's
- 24:37Speaker 3: living there or whoever.
- 24:39Speaker 5: Why are we stressed out the entire time watching this?
- 24:42Speaker 3: Thinking about it, well, I think I wasn't stressed outuntil
- 24:45Speaker 3: they're like, Hey, we're going to take out this beautiful
- 24:47Speaker 3: thing on the ceiling, and then we're going or not
- 24:49Speaker 3: even beautiful, just like massive piece on the ceiling, and
- 24:53Speaker 3: we're going to also make the fireplace inaccessible to anybody
- 24:57Speaker 3: for future visits. I'm like, this is these are crazy
- 25:01Speaker 3: steps you're taking and not necessarily preferred for me. However,
- 25:06Speaker 3: my concern with this show is there is no continuity,
- 25:11Speaker 3: so there isn't an overall theme communicated us on what
- 25:15Speaker 3: the house should be looking like. It's not modern Italian,
- 25:18Speaker 3: it's not set up as clean, it's not necessarily even
- 25:21Speaker 3: hey make this, just renovate this Tuscan feel to refresh
- 25:26Speaker 3: it a bit. There's no continuity throughout the house. So
- 25:28Speaker 3: we are going to have a green room with green
- 25:32Speaker 3: shades and a blue room with blue shades, and another
- 25:35Speaker 3: room that's Tuscan and feels like very much what I
- 25:38Speaker 3: would want my office to look like. And is that
- 25:41Speaker 3: how this whole house is.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Gonna be there should have been like, hey, guys, you
- 25:45Speaker 2: have to keep it in the Mediterranean mindset.
- 25:48Speaker 3: One hundred percent, Like I want a theme because for me,
- 25:54Speaker 3: one of the most impressive things that a designer does,
- 25:58Speaker 3: one of the most impressive things a carpenter does is
- 26:02Speaker 3: when you walk into a home and you're like, it
- 26:04Speaker 3: flows right.
- 26:05Speaker 4: It has an aesthetic that flows from room to room.
- 26:08Speaker 3: It doesn't all have to look the same, but at
- 26:10Speaker 3: least we understand why this room looks the way it
- 26:12Speaker 3: does and this room looks the way it does. But
- 26:15Speaker 3: we're gonna end up just like patching together different vibes.
- 26:19Speaker 3: It's gonna be dizzy, is what I would use to
- 26:22Speaker 3: describe the esthetic.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Well, so one we do see the final product of
- 26:26Speaker 2: all three rooms, which, by the way, guys, the girls
- 26:29Speaker 2: are assigned the primary.
- 26:30Speaker 5: Bedroom and it or at least what we think is.
- 26:35Speaker 2: We don't even know is it the bigger girls bedroom now?
- 26:38Speaker 2: So whatever, it's the bigger one. It's the one that
- 26:40Speaker 2: I lived in lots of memories and they're awesome, awesome
- 26:43Speaker 2: to just see it again. And then there are two
- 26:46Speaker 2: other bedrooms that are everybody's you know, crammed in the
- 26:51Speaker 2: past the first two weeks of the season.
- 26:53Speaker 5: But in my head, I remember, and I think that.
- 26:57Speaker 2: This was a point in my head that I was
- 26:59Speaker 2: hard bring on that the audience would not harp on.
- 27:03Speaker 2: But I'm pretty sure they took away two bunks from
- 27:06Speaker 2: each room, like a bunk from each room.
- 27:08Speaker 5: Yeah, my bedroom had one, two, three, four, five.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Bunks, and I think they made it so that it
- 27:16Speaker 2: has four bunks now.
- 27:17Speaker 5: And then then the.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Room that was the Tusken room that had three bunks,
- 27:23Speaker 2: and I think there's two in there now. So obviously
- 27:25Speaker 2: it's gonna look better when you eliminate in a bunk.
- 27:29Speaker 2: So I'm like, Okay, this looks great for this show.
- 27:32Speaker 2: But are they got to cram one in there when
- 27:34Speaker 2: everybody moves in.
- 27:35Speaker 3: It's a good question, it's a fair question. That's why
- 27:38Speaker 3: I want to know who are they doing this for.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I'm sure there was I mean, these rooms are very
- 27:46Speaker 3: rarely shown during the season, are.
- 27:49Speaker 2: They're not shown very much, so they could just throw
- 27:51Speaker 2: one in and make it not look so cute.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Yeah they can. They can pack it in somewhere. And
- 27:55Speaker 3: there was some more. There are some other rooms in
- 27:57Speaker 3: the house that were not so iconic. And used that
- 28:01Speaker 3: maybe the show can use now to make up for
- 28:03Speaker 3: this space. I don't know necessarily how the sleeping arrangements
- 28:06Speaker 3: go these days, But Ashley, are you concerned with my
- 28:11Speaker 3: thought of continuity and chaos in the aesthetic of the house.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I think that while it wasn't said, both teams seem
- 28:20Speaker 2: to respect the origin theme of the house, which was
- 28:24Speaker 2: the Mediterranean, and I think that that's how it'll continue
- 28:28Speaker 2: to be. I do think that it was not just Mediterranean,
- 28:32Speaker 2: but it was Italian, which I think the two rooms
- 28:36Speaker 2: are going with. And that's what the why the Santorini
- 28:39Speaker 2: room stresses me out right now, because even though it's Mediterranean,
- 28:43Speaker 2: Santorini and Tuscany are two completely different looks.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Very much so.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Tuscany is like a farming community, you know, state I
- 28:53Speaker 3: don't like regions.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Stones and stuff.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Old architecture, a lot of dark woods, and then yes,
- 29:02Speaker 3: Santorini is a beach feel. We'll see how it goes
- 29:06Speaker 3: throughout the rest of the season. Honestly, personal actually, just
- 29:10Speaker 3: the personal thought, what do you think about this new trend?
- 29:14Speaker 3: It's it's very easy to do DIY and to fix
- 29:18Speaker 3: up a room doing this with the kind of wood
- 29:21Speaker 3: slats that go straight up and down with a little
- 29:24Speaker 3: space in between.
- 29:24Speaker 4: It was used in.
- 29:25Speaker 3: All both the women and the men's design there.
- 29:31Speaker 4: It's called fluted.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Yes, I saw this is on the bunks.
- 29:35Speaker 3: And we see it in the preview for the rest
- 29:37Speaker 3: of the season kind of everywhere. It is a very
- 29:41Speaker 3: common design right now. What do you think of it?
- 29:44Speaker 3: How do you feel? I don't like it, so it's
- 29:47Speaker 3: a little hard for me to look out honestly, no,
- 29:50Speaker 3: like not like I It's like my eyes can't adjust
- 29:54Speaker 3: my sense, I can't get like a point of focus
- 29:59Speaker 3: when that's kind of sitting behind somebody, which is why
- 30:02Speaker 3: I wouldn't put it in my house because I would
- 30:04Speaker 3: walk into the room and it kind.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Of feels a little too much for me. It is
- 30:09Speaker 4: popular though. People do like it.
- 30:11Speaker 3: They do use it, and it is a very quick
- 30:13Speaker 3: way to kind of fix up and clean up any
- 30:16Speaker 3: type of wall or any type of paneling needed. But
- 30:19Speaker 3: it is used a lot, and we see it use
- 30:21Speaker 3: a lot throughout the rest of this season. Ashlely kind
- 30:25Speaker 3: of some final thoughts here. Obviously, Tasha and Tyler Cameron
- 30:31Speaker 3: are the judges this season. It seems like they will
- 30:34Speaker 3: be used throughout the season where they'll have some guest
- 30:37Speaker 3: judges come in for some specific projects, and Jesse is
- 30:43Speaker 3: the main host of the show, so we have a
- 30:45Speaker 3: lot of voices in power and influence during this season,
- 30:51Speaker 3: which is good. I think the Bachelor is this is
- 30:54Speaker 3: coming from a place where The Bachelor has year for
- 30:56Speaker 3: years trying to figure out how do we utilize this
- 31:00Speaker 3: talent from the past who people followed and loved and
- 31:04Speaker 3: still follow and love. How do we continue to use
- 31:08Speaker 3: them in ways that benefit the show.
- 31:10Speaker 2: I think this is fine. It's for HGTV. It's good,
- 31:14Speaker 2: it makes sense.
- 31:15Speaker 5: I like it. It's fun. Dude, does this fill that
- 31:18Speaker 5: void for me? The one that I've.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Been saying for years and years that I want them
- 31:22Speaker 2: to take couples? I mean, obviously this is selfish that
- 31:26Speaker 2: I want them to take couples that have had success
- 31:30Speaker 2: and then put them on some competition show where you
- 31:32Speaker 2: get to see the couples compete, you know, Amazon, you know,
- 31:35Speaker 2: Amazing Race Style or whatnot, Trader Style, something like that.
- 31:39Speaker 5: It'd be so fun, but.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I don't know if it'll ever happen, And now with
- 31:45Speaker 2: my NBC contract.
- 31:46Speaker 5: I don't know that I could ever participate if it
- 31:48Speaker 5: happened anyway.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Well, I think you make the point that I'm trying
- 31:55Speaker 3: to get to. I love seeing these familiar faces again. Yeah,
- 31:58Speaker 3: but I want to see them. I don't want to
- 32:00Speaker 3: just see him stop in, Like I don't care to
- 32:02Speaker 3: see Hannah Brown just stopping on my television.
- 32:05Speaker 5: Oh, I'm talking about like the regular cast.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Like I love seeing the regular cast, like Jill and
- 32:08Speaker 2: Dean and Courtney and Joan really even even Noah, just
- 32:15Speaker 2: people that you've become so familiar with. I really, I
- 32:19Speaker 2: had my cup filled in a way with it all.
- 32:22Speaker 3: I yes, but I want to finish the stocks. I
- 32:26Speaker 3: don't want it to sound like I just said I
- 32:27Speaker 3: don't want to see Hannah Brown. I do want to
- 32:29Speaker 3: see Hannah Brown, but I want to like see her
- 32:32Speaker 3: compete again or see her get involved in something again.
- 32:37Speaker 4: I feel like they keep.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Bringing the Hannah Browns and the Tashia's and the JoJo's back,
- 32:44Speaker 3: but we miss it because we don't get to actually.
- 32:48Speaker 4: See them. We just see him stop in.
- 32:50Speaker 5: Fill a day roll exactly more than a day roll.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Like Hannah Brown was on Paradise And what did we
- 32:55Speaker 3: what did we learn about Hannah Brown or what did
- 32:58Speaker 3: we talk about when it came to Hannah Brown based
- 33:00Speaker 3: on her time in Paradise?
- 33:01Speaker 4: Nothing?
- 33:02Speaker 3: What are we going to talk about when it comes
- 33:03Speaker 3: to Hannah Brown and her like stop in on this show? Nothing?
- 33:07Speaker 3: It's great to see them, Yes, does it add anything?
- 33:11Speaker 3: I don't think so. I think this episode would have
- 33:13Speaker 3: been fine if it was just Jesse walking through the rooms.
- 33:18Speaker 3: My point is I want to see these people shine
- 33:21Speaker 3: on television again, and the way we know them to
- 33:24Speaker 3: be able to shine, which is when we get an
- 33:26Speaker 3: up close and personal look at their life.
- 33:29Speaker 2: So you're saying that you would want to see Tyler
- 33:32Speaker 2: and Tasha and Hannah competing in the games?
- 33:35Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, totally is it? And if not, like, what
- 33:38Speaker 4: are we doing?
- 33:39Speaker 5: And so then just have Jesse be the host?
- 33:41Speaker 4: Yes?
- 33:42Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, that makes sense. All right.
- 33:44Speaker 4: I want to see Tyler Cameron have to.
- 33:46Speaker 5: I want to see somebody else to do stuff too. Yeah.
- 33:49Speaker 3: So that is one thing that I think the show
- 33:52Speaker 3: they they wanted to elevate a few people and make
- 33:54Speaker 3: it a thing. I just think it feels like we're
- 33:57Speaker 3: never going to experience who they act are and see
- 34:01Speaker 3: them compete. Because one thing I do think will happen
- 34:03Speaker 3: this season is I do think drama will ensue. I
- 34:05Speaker 3: know in my family dynamic, especially with my parents growing
- 34:09Speaker 3: up in a household that did everything ourselves very rarely
- 34:13Speaker 3: would hire anybody to do anything. There is a lot
- 34:15Speaker 3: of outdoor work, a lot of indoor work. My grandpa
- 34:19Speaker 3: was working all the time on his farm. Arguments happen
- 34:24Speaker 3: within the first five minutes. It's just how things work.
- 34:27Speaker 3: When it comes to a project.
- 34:28Speaker 4: You want to put us and make us.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Argue more than decorating. Jared and I it's our ultimate
- 34:33Speaker 2: weakness in arguing.
- 34:35Speaker 3: So it's going to happen, right, We're not going to
- 34:37Speaker 3: be able to walk through this season with this many
- 34:38Speaker 3: big personalities without arguing happening. I want to see it happen,
- 34:43Speaker 3: and arguing happen from some of the Bachelor Nation people
- 34:47Speaker 3: that we know can argue the best, the Hannah.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Browns, the Tashas, the Ews.
- 34:52Speaker 3: So one thing I just think we'll miss is while
- 34:55Speaker 3: so many people stop in and we're like, yeah, but
- 34:57Speaker 3: if they had to get dirty a little bit, this
- 34:59Speaker 3: could be awesome.
- 35:10Speaker 5: Okay, Well, let's actually talk about the drama that we
- 35:12Speaker 5: did see. I mean, it was not.
- 35:13Speaker 2: I don't think it's ever gonna get really dramatic or fiery,
- 35:16Speaker 2: but because people needed to eliminate people on their team,
- 35:21Speaker 2: there was definitely tension. Uh, Sandra didn't feel hurt during
- 35:26Speaker 2: the entire day. She was like, and I think I
- 35:28Speaker 2: have a big personality, but then I'm next to these.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Girls and like, apparently I'm just drowning.
- 35:34Speaker 2: And then there was the stealing of the iron that
- 35:38Speaker 2: was not real drama. There was the fact that now
- 35:42Speaker 2: Chris feels like he has to watch his back because
- 35:45Speaker 2: there is people trying to eliminate him left and right,
- 35:50Speaker 2: mainly because I really I think that's just because he's
- 35:52Speaker 2: just not of the same age group and he's just
- 35:54Speaker 2: a little bit left out.
- 35:55Speaker 3: I think he has plenty of stores on a note there,
- 35:57Speaker 3: he might be the most talented and the most full.
- 36:00Speaker 2: One of his most experience, which I'm so glad Dean
- 36:03Speaker 2: did not vote him off because you know, he had
- 36:06Speaker 2: to do a tiebreaker. Yeah, and I'm glad that he
- 36:09Speaker 2: chose to eliminate Jeremy because Jeremy like just doesn't make
- 36:12Speaker 2: as much sense there as Chris obviously.
- 36:15Speaker 3: And goodness, I mean we I wanted to see Jeremy
- 36:18Speaker 3: kind of have this redemption arc during the show or
- 36:20Speaker 3: see kind of his skill set.
- 36:22Speaker 4: But I don't know if you felt this way. I'm
- 36:24Speaker 4: watching it and I.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Don't know the dynamics internally, but you could tell Jeremy
- 36:27Speaker 3: like really just wanted to be buddies with so many
- 36:30Speaker 3: of these guys on the show, right, And he was
- 36:32Speaker 3: like roommates with Dean and they get set up together
- 36:36Speaker 3: and you can tell he's just trying to be like, hey,
- 36:39Speaker 3: I'm happy to be here.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Kind of guy. And then yeah, the one guy you.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Could tell he really wanted to like buddy up with
- 36:45Speaker 3: was Dean, and then Dean votes him off and I'm like, goodness,
- 36:49Speaker 3: this this is It's like it.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Was sad to me, it was.
- 36:53Speaker 5: It was a little sad.
- 36:54Speaker 2: And while like we've always been super hard on Jeremy
- 36:57Speaker 2: on other shows, I do find that he's a good
- 37:01Speaker 2: He's good on TV. There's something about him that is
- 37:03Speaker 2: interesting to watch. Sure, maybe because he's a stir I
- 37:08Speaker 2: don't know.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it would have been good TV, but okay,
- 37:12Speaker 3: keep going. Sorry, I just wanted to note that that
- 37:14Speaker 3: I felt like he was like a puppy dog at times,
- 37:15Speaker 3: being like, Hey, I want to be friends with guys here,
- 37:17Speaker 3: and then they're like hey, get out of here.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah, then there was people someone really just Sandra
- 37:24Speaker 2: having a little beef with Jill, thought that Jill was
- 37:27Speaker 2: just well not being a team player.
- 37:28Speaker 5: She walked out of a group meeting just saying that
- 37:30Speaker 5: it was over. And then she.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Also said that somebody said that Jill was like being
- 37:36Speaker 2: kind of too opinionated, like to my way or the highway.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Does she have that in her but probably yeah. But
- 37:45Speaker 2: I also like like that about her. But if you're
- 37:48Speaker 2: working on a team, it is hard when you have
- 37:50Speaker 2: that hard personality. Sure, I don't know if I'm like
- 37:53Speaker 2: that in a team, but I know that when it
- 37:56Speaker 2: comes to our home, I'm always like, no, that doesn't
- 37:59Speaker 2: belong to I'm sorry, Like I know, I told you
- 38:01Speaker 2: can put something somewhere, but no, that doesn't work.
- 38:05Speaker 4: I you know what I do. I sulk.
- 38:07Speaker 3: And I was watching this show and I was like,
- 38:09Speaker 3: there's so many moments that I would be sulking because
- 38:13Speaker 3: my voice wasn't heard or my opinion wasn't shared. And
- 38:16Speaker 3: so I get like that even in my own home,
- 38:20Speaker 3: and I'm like, hey, I think we need to do
- 38:21Speaker 3: it this way. Maybe there's an opposite opinion, and I'm like,
- 38:25Speaker 3: all right, but now I'm the one that has to
- 38:26Speaker 3: do it. I'm gonna have to do it the way
- 38:27Speaker 3: that I don't want to do it. I would have
- 38:29Speaker 3: a hard time because I've I've been trying to follow
- 38:34Speaker 3: in life better, like be a follower and a leader
- 38:36Speaker 3: at times, being able to step up and lead but
- 38:39Speaker 3: also be able to take a back seat. It's I
- 38:43Speaker 3: know this about myself, Ashley. I don't take a back
- 38:46Speaker 3: seat easily.
- 38:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I know.
- 38:47Speaker 2: That's when Sandra said some people are leaders and then
- 38:50Speaker 2: some people have to be followers. I was like, oh,
- 38:53Speaker 2: is that how it goes? Because not on my terms?
- 38:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I am not good at it.
- 38:59Speaker 3: There there's so many moments where I go into something
- 39:02Speaker 3: and I'm like, Okay, I'm gonna just listen, I'm gonna
- 39:04Speaker 3: follow along. I'm gonna have a great time doing it.
- 39:06Speaker 3: And then what do I find I find myself at
- 39:09Speaker 3: some point having the loudest voice, the most direct voice,
- 39:12Speaker 3: the most opinionated voice.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Well that's because we were on like reality TV.
- 39:16Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that most people on reality TV tend
- 39:20Speaker 2: to have the leader person.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Who been a problem my whole life. I think it's
- 39:24Speaker 4: an older child.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Thing, oldest child and only child.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody in the conversation, who's a second child, third child?
- 39:32Speaker 5: Come in here?
- 39:33Speaker 4: Yeah, Jessica just still fall along.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so well, she's so good at just hanging out.
- 39:40Speaker 3: But okay, to speed this up a little bit, Ashley,
- 39:45Speaker 3: we did remove again Jeremy and Sander from this episode
- 39:49Speaker 3: very early on. There was the finished product. As we said,
- 39:53Speaker 3: the women did win, the men had to vote out
- 39:56Speaker 3: one more person. It's a to be continued episode, Ashley,
- 40:00Speaker 3: who do you think I voted out?
- 40:02Speaker 2: I'm actually super duper torn because everybody there what is
- 40:07Speaker 2: pretty darn qualified to be there constructing and designing.
- 40:10Speaker 5: And how sweet of it was Dean to vote for
- 40:14Speaker 5: himself even though he can't smart.
- 40:17Speaker 2: That was smart, so so sweet, so Dean. And yes,
- 40:19Speaker 2: that means he's not eliminating one of the other guys.
- 40:23Speaker 2: My gut says it's probably gonna be.
- 40:31Speaker 5: I don't know, it could be Noah or Chris.
- 40:33Speaker 4: I think I would actually go completely. I think it's Sam.
- 40:37Speaker 5: Okay, why he didn't have a huge role.
- 40:40Speaker 4: He didn't have a huge role.
- 40:41Speaker 3: He's one of the two people that have like an
- 40:45Speaker 3: old school carpentry background, and I think they saw uh
- 40:50Speaker 3: kind of the usefulness of Chris's skill set. You see
- 40:52Speaker 3: Chris doing a lot, you don't see Sam doing a lot.
- 40:56Speaker 3: I also think Sam probably came into this tired of
- 40:59Speaker 3: being known as the villain, so he was a little
- 41:00Speaker 3: more quiet at least a first episode. I think over
- 41:03Speaker 3: time we would see his personality shine, but he's a
- 41:05Speaker 3: little more quiet.
- 41:07Speaker 4: I also.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Have this feeling that people want to play nice during
- 41:12Speaker 3: this show. They don't want this and be like a
- 41:15Speaker 3: super dramatic show, and they know that Chris was on
- 41:17Speaker 3: the chopping block during the first elimination. I bet they
- 41:21Speaker 3: would have a hard time being like, yeah, Chris, we're
- 41:23Speaker 3: going to like double down on that.
- 41:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Okay, that's my guest, Sam.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Okay, I would say Sam, I don't think Noah, because
- 41:33Speaker 3: I think he's built enough.
- 41:35Speaker 5: Alliances, He's friendly enough with.
- 41:37Speaker 4: Every scheme in behind the scenes at the.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Ultimate guy who has a connection to everyone too.
- 41:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think no. It would be a hard vote
- 41:45Speaker 4: at least right now.
- 41:46Speaker 2: What's going to happen when we get to a certain
- 41:48Speaker 2: point where you can't vote people off like it's not
- 41:51Speaker 2: going to make like I guess it's just going to
- 41:53Speaker 2: be two on one and then eventually on the finale.
- 41:57Speaker 3: It'll probably be up to like the judges, yeah, or
- 42:00Speaker 3: you know whose project was better. It'll be interesting to
- 42:04Speaker 3: watch this season go on.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Well, there's one last note that I have to say,
- 42:08Speaker 2: and that was that we see carpenters in the background.
- 42:11Speaker 2: But they could have explained like, we'll have a team
- 42:14Speaker 2: to make your dreams become reality really quickly. They didn't
- 42:18Speaker 2: explain that that's how all the HGTV shows work. It's
- 42:21Speaker 2: not like, you know, the property brothers are making the house.
- 42:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean there was too much.
- 42:27Speaker 3: When they took down the fixture that was in the
- 42:28Speaker 3: middle of the women's room, there was obviously a ton
- 42:32Speaker 3: of drywall work and patching work than the area done.
- 42:35Speaker 3: So somebody had to work through the night to patch
- 42:37Speaker 3: that mud that saying that and then get it ready
- 42:40Speaker 3: for painting. So yes, there had to be help people
- 42:42Speaker 3: helping throughout the day. I do know this and I
- 42:45Speaker 3: will share this bit of information. Uh, they worked, really
- 42:49Speaker 3: the contestants did have to work really hard. It was
- 42:52Speaker 3: all day things, doing like on their hands knees doing
- 42:57Speaker 3: the project. This is not a setup for TV kind
- 42:59Speaker 3: of sh show. The contestants were actually doing the projects,
- 43:04Speaker 3: but there had to be more hands involved, a little
- 43:06Speaker 3: more expertise, probably from a few people kind of helping
- 43:10Speaker 3: navigate some of the projects. But I know that the
- 43:14Speaker 3: contestants at the end of the day were exhausted from
- 43:17Speaker 3: the work that had to be done, which is fun.
- 43:20Speaker 5: So I wish I would have seen a little bit
- 43:22Speaker 5: more of the handsiness.
- 43:23Speaker 3: I think it would be an injustice to us if
- 43:26Speaker 3: we don't see more of them working and struggling and failing,
- 43:30Speaker 3: because we didn't see any of them that like tossing
- 43:33Speaker 3: away of really nice like mahogany during the episode and
- 43:36Speaker 3: somebody being super frustrated.
- 43:38Speaker 5: I remember when Marshall told me that the double door
- 43:41Speaker 5: is going into the primary bedroom. Insanely intricate doors. They
- 43:46Speaker 5: were shipped over from India, completely hand crafted. They're not
- 43:51Speaker 5: going to be They're not gonna get rid of these things.
- 43:53Speaker 3: No, just say primary yeah, the uh yeah. There's there's
- 43:59Speaker 3: a lot to this house that I'm sure I'm assuming
- 44:01Speaker 3: has a piece of tape on it saying please do
- 44:03Speaker 3: not touch, please do not remove. But we'll see as
- 44:06Speaker 3: the season goes that's gonna be One of the intriguing
- 44:08Speaker 3: factors is how much of this house do they change
- 44:11Speaker 3: and how much do they actually change it? Ashley after
- 44:15Speaker 3: episode one, are you intrigued by this show?
- 44:20Speaker 4: Yes?
- 44:20Speaker 3: It is two hours. It does feel like a long time.
- 44:22Speaker 3: There was a lot of standing around during this episode.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I hope it gets a little more action packed, a
- 44:27Speaker 3: little more fast paced. I want this to be more
- 44:31Speaker 3: in the weeds on how they're doing the projects and
- 44:33Speaker 3: who's doing well and who's not.
- 44:35Speaker 4: But are you intrigued with this show?
- 44:39Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely, I'm excited to see it again.
- 44:42Speaker 4: I am too. I think it's gonna be good. I
- 44:43Speaker 4: think it's gonna be fun for us to watch.
- 44:45Speaker 2: It's fun for us to watch because it's not like
- 44:48Speaker 2: a whole bunch of drama.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's fun to see these people like work and
- 44:54Speaker 3: get gritty and have to.
- 44:57Speaker 5: Compromise in another element that we're used to see.
- 45:00Speaker 4: That's right right now?
- 45:01Speaker 5: Would I care if?
- 45:03Speaker 2: Yeah, let me see if it wasn't for Bachelor contestants, Like,
- 45:05Speaker 2: what if the Bachelor contestants weren't doing this and that
- 45:07Speaker 2: we're actual experts on the show doing the flip? Would
- 45:11Speaker 2: you be as interested, because I guess I probably wouldn't care.
- 45:14Speaker 3: No, I think the seeing the Bachelor mansion get redone
- 45:18Speaker 3: is it fun and exciting. And I do love HGTV,
- 45:21Speaker 3: Yeah I do so.
- 45:22Speaker 5: I do like watching regular houses get flipped.
- 45:24Speaker 3: So there might be an element to that, but I
- 45:26Speaker 3: do think it's fun to see the contestants have to
- 45:29Speaker 3: be doing this. I think that's fun and it does
- 45:31Speaker 3: add The only reason I mentioned that little behind the
- 45:34Speaker 3: scenes detail is it's fun for me to know that
- 45:37Speaker 3: these people, like a weekend like this was day one,
- 45:40Speaker 3: They've gotten good rest, they haven't been lifting anything in
- 45:43Speaker 3: a while. But let's see this like a weekend like
- 45:46Speaker 3: episode three four, and see how tired and sore some
- 45:50Speaker 3: of these people are working on this house. That's when
- 45:53Speaker 3: I think things are going to get really good. So
- 45:54Speaker 3: it's fun for me to know that the people that
- 45:56Speaker 3: came are actually the ones doing the projects. Because I
- 46:00Speaker 3: know in my own life, day one's easy, Day two's frustrating,
- 46:04Speaker 3: Day three, I'm exhausted. In day four, I'm ready to
- 46:06Speaker 3: get it done. So we'll see how the contestants handle
- 46:10Speaker 3: all this. It's fun to see, you know, the Bachelor
- 46:14Speaker 3: coming up again. On our televisions. It's also really great
- 46:17Speaker 3: for us to have something to break down Ashley, as
- 46:20Speaker 3: we do every first episode of every season that we
- 46:22Speaker 3: break down. If you were to pick your guests on
- 46:25Speaker 3: who wins, who would it be?
- 46:28Speaker 5: Can you go first?
- 46:30Speaker 2: No?
- 46:30Speaker 5: I don't want you to go first. I feel like
- 46:33Speaker 5: Dean's gonna win.
- 46:34Speaker 3: Okay, I'm gonna pick Joan, mostly because I think it's
- 46:38Speaker 3: gonna be really hard to vote Joan off. She's so lovable,
- 46:41Speaker 3: she's so likable, she's so considerate of other people's opinions
- 46:46Speaker 3: and feelings and emotions that I think she's gonna feel
- 46:50Speaker 3: like the person that kind of is the glue to
- 46:52Speaker 3: bring people together.
- 46:53Speaker 4: And I also think she has some talent, and.
- 46:56Speaker 3: So I just can't see any I mean, how brutal
- 47:00Speaker 3: human do you have to be right now to like,
- 47:02Speaker 3: I honestly to vote off Sandra or Chris, but then
- 47:04Speaker 3: also to be like, hey, Joan go home. Like I also,
- 47:08Speaker 3: here's who I hope wins. Though you want to outside
- 47:10Speaker 3: a Dean because he's a friend. I want to see
- 47:12Speaker 3: Courtney win.
- 47:13Speaker 4: I do.
- 47:14Speaker 5: Courtney is an empathetic character.
- 47:17Speaker 3: I know she's a beautiful and wonderful human who you know,
- 47:20Speaker 3: we both love. And I think she got a bad
- 47:24Speaker 3: rap on her time. I think it really hurt her.
- 47:26Speaker 3: But now she has a family. She said yes to
- 47:28Speaker 3: this show, and she was taken away from her family
- 47:31Speaker 3: for a long period of time. I really would love
- 47:36Speaker 3: to see her walk away because I think it would
- 47:37Speaker 3: give her that bump that would be true to who
- 47:40Speaker 3: she is, but also give her that encouragement maybe she needs.
- 47:44Speaker 3: So I'm my hope is that Courtney sticks around.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Yeah, Courtney.
- 47:49Speaker 2: When they had the little roundtable moment with the girls,
- 47:51Speaker 2: she was pretty emotional saying that, like she feels like
- 47:54Speaker 2: she's lost herself, you know, and motherhood and all that,
- 47:56Speaker 2: and this is like a way to get part of
- 47:58Speaker 2: her own personality back. So it was very relatable and
- 48:02Speaker 2: very emotional. And I yeah, again, like you just said,
- 48:05Speaker 2: always like Corney, but I do feel like she kind
- 48:07Speaker 2: of like fell to the wayside.
- 48:09Speaker 5: In this episode.
- 48:10Speaker 2: And I guess I'm just going off Dean because I
- 48:14Speaker 2: just think that he's the personality that stands out the
- 48:16Speaker 2: most of everybody. And I do think he only made
- 48:19Speaker 2: this ANTURNI decision because he had immunity. I don't think
- 48:22Speaker 2: that he would have done that.
- 48:23Speaker 4: Dean would also be a hard person to vote off.
- 48:25Speaker 5: That's that's yeah.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Well, this has been the first breakdown of HGTV's news
- 48:31Speaker 3: show where they're renovating the Bachelor Mansion. Hey, if you
- 48:36Speaker 3: haven't watched the episode yet and you just listen to
- 48:38Speaker 3: our podcast, there is still so much in there that
- 48:40Speaker 3: we didn't go over, Like, hey, Dean did a DIY
- 48:43Speaker 3: artwork project as well as convincing everybody to paint the
- 48:46Speaker 3: ceiling blue. You'll want to see the visuals of how
- 48:52Speaker 3: these rooms looked and operated outside of how we explain
- 48:55Speaker 3: them to you. So go back and watch the episode,
- 48:57Speaker 3: but also continue to come here and listen to our
- 49:01Speaker 3: breakdown of each episode as we break it down each
- 49:04Speaker 3: week on the Almost Famous Podcast. Now, just because we're
- 49:08Speaker 3: breaking down this actually doesn't mean that we stop our
- 49:10Speaker 3: Franky Fridays, our interviews with past contestants, our headline episodes.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Everything happening in Bachelor Nation will be talked about and
- 49:18Speaker 3: discussed right here on the Almost Famous Podcast. So stay
