- 0:14Speaker 1: the afternoon drive with Jake Wimberley.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Hour 2 brought to you by friends at A1 Guarantado,
- 0:59Speaker 2: your hometown vehicle specialist. Anything under the hood, like rear differentials, rings,
- 1:02Speaker 2: and pinions, your heat as the weather starts to get
- 1:06Speaker 2: cooler in the mornings and the afternoon.
- 1:07Speaker 3: And, of course, engine starters, alternators, 601-939-1060.
- 1:11Speaker 2: A1 Guarantado down on 49 in Florence right as you
- 1:14Speaker 2: leave Richland headed south.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Your hometown vehicle specialist.
- 1:17Speaker 2: We appreciate David Murray, hour number 1. Mike Grace will
- 1:20Speaker 2: join us at 515 with a press box. We'll talk
- 1:22Speaker 2: SEC football.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Chris Landry, tomorrow, 5 to 5.30. Texas, 601-885-3776.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That is the Cabo Maloney's text line. You can call
- 1:33Speaker 2: us on the Mississippi Sports Medicine caller line.
- 1:34Speaker 4: 601-897-1059.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Shane Steichen, I think I said that right. Quote, Daniel
- 1:40Speaker 2: Jones is our starting quarterback.
- 1:41Speaker 3: What do you think about that? Any thoughts on the
- 1:45Speaker 3: NFL yesterday?
- 1:49Speaker 5: He's our starting quarterback. I mean, what's your other option?
- 1:52Speaker 5: Anthony Richardson's probably about to get suspended. He got charged
- 1:56Speaker 5: with marijuana possession.
- 1:57Speaker 6: Oh, boy.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Daniel Jones is sadly your best option that you have
- 2:02Speaker 5: out there.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's not going well. But they are 4-2. And, well,
- 2:12Speaker 2: I'm just looking through these. The Dolphins got to win,
- 2:16Speaker 2: and I'm not happy about it.
- 2:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 8: First win of the year.
- 2:19Speaker 3: I wanted them to be able to get that number
- 2:20Speaker 3: one overall pick.
- 2:22Speaker 8: Oh, they'll still get there.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Don't worry.
- 2:23Speaker 8: You can get there at 1-15 or 1-16. Still got
- 2:26Speaker 8: some runway.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You're going to battle the Titans at 1-6 or the
- 2:29Speaker 2: Chargers at 0-6. Also, the Commanders 1-4-1. And you've got
- 2:34Speaker 2: several two-win teams out there as well. Any big thoughts, though,
- 2:38Speaker 2: or takeaways over the weekend in the NFL?
- 2:39Speaker 5: You know you're talking about the standings and the records,
- 2:43Speaker 5: so this is kind of ridiculous. So the AFC North—
- 2:47Speaker 5: and the NFC North. All teams in both of those divisions,
- 2:52Speaker 5: both the Norths, all the teams have a winning record.
- 2:56Speaker 5: That is the first time in NFL history that we've
- 2:59Speaker 5: gone into Week 8 with two divisions having all winning records.
- 3:07Speaker 5: The entire history of the league, first time ever that
- 3:10Speaker 5: all eight of those teams have had winning records.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Interesting. Vikings 6-0, Bears 5-2, Lions 4-2, Packers 4-3. You've got.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Browns and Steelers at 5-2, Bengals at 4-2, and Ravens
- 3:28Speaker 2: at 4-3.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Huh.
- 3:30Speaker 3: That's interesting. That really is interesting.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Of course, the Chiefs still sitting at 5-1, Jags at 4-2.
- 3:37Speaker 2: They're two games ahead of everybody else in at least
- 3:39Speaker 2: two games in the AFC South.
- 3:42Speaker 3: You've got....
- 3:44Speaker 2: Bills way ahead of everybody else. Well, one game ahead
- 3:46Speaker 2: of– a game and a half ahead of the Patriots,
- 3:47Speaker 2: but that's the Bills division. Panthers, Falcons at three and four.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Nobody wants that NFC South crown. And the 49ers ahead
- 3:55Speaker 2: of the field there in the NFC West. All right,
- 3:59Speaker 2: let's go to Gator Matt on line one.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Matt, happy Monday. What's going on?
- 4:04Speaker 4: Jack, it's the best week of the year.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Cocktail party.
- 4:08Speaker 7: That's right. That's right.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I was going to go, but I can't stand Atlanta traffic.
- 4:15Speaker 4: I'm not going there. Jake, do we need to really
- 4:19Speaker 4: start having a serious conversation of where we think Mario
- 4:25Speaker 4: Taylor needs to play his football career next year? Jake,
- 4:29Speaker 4: before you answer, if he was your son, what would.
- 4:33Speaker 7: You advise him to do?
- 4:36Speaker 4: Be honest, because we know you're a homer, but you've
- 4:38Speaker 4: got to be honest here.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I would leave it up to him. Where's he happy at?
- 4:45Speaker 3: If he's happy in Star Bowl?
- 4:46Speaker 4: LSU.
- 4:48Speaker 3: LSU.
- 4:49Speaker 4: And would you blame him? Would you blame him? Let's
- 4:52Speaker 4: be honest. Mississippi State, Jake, Jake, they're terrible. They are
- 4:56Speaker 4: as bad as, Jake, they are bad.
- 5:01Speaker 7: Jake.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Well, they're not good.
- 5:02Speaker 4: You were pumping them up early, weren't you?
- 5:04Speaker 3: Well, no, I mean, they were 4-0. They were off
- 5:06Speaker 3: to a great start.
- 5:08Speaker 4: They are as bad. They are the worst SEC team
- 5:11Speaker 4: I've seen in a long time.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Have you watched Arkansas?
- 5:13Speaker 4: He sure did. He's a good player. But he can't
- 5:17Speaker 4: stay there. I mean, you don't want him to stay there.
- 5:22Speaker 4: I know he grew up right down the street, but
- 5:23Speaker 4: good Lord, son, go make some money and try to
- 5:26Speaker 4: win some games. Just terrible. Jake, Florida, look, we're back
- 5:31Speaker 4: in it. We control our own destiny, don't we?
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:37Speaker 7: Did we ever talk about the St.
- 5:38Speaker 4: John's River?
- 5:39Speaker 3: I don't think we did.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Now, we know they're playing in Atlanta this year, but
- 5:44Speaker 4: the St. John's River, that runs through Jacksonville. You know,
- 5:47Speaker 4: that's one of the few rivers in America that flows
- 5:50Speaker 4: against the equator, flows north.
- 5:52Speaker 7: Did you know that?
- 5:53Speaker 3: I did not know that.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Do you know why?
- 5:58Speaker 3: Duval? I have no idea.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Georgia sucks.
- 6:04Speaker 3: It's pretty good.
- 6:05Speaker 2: So he says because Georgia sucks, that river flows backwards. Now,
- 6:08Speaker 2: Florida is in it at five and two. They got
- 6:12Speaker 2: to beat Georgia. They have Oklahoma coming up at Kentucky, Vanderbilt,
- 6:16Speaker 2: and at Florida State.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Now, if Georgia was to lose to Florida, Florida's probably
- 6:20Speaker 3: going to make the college football playoff because I think
- 6:24Speaker 3: they would beat Oklahoma.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Kentucky on the road would be tough. Vanderbilt and then
- 6:28Speaker 2: at Florida State. I don't think they beat Georgia, though.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Do you?
- 6:33Speaker 2: I don't think they beat Georgia. Humphreys County dog. Jake,
- 6:37Speaker 2: I'd rather you take off two days a week. then
- 6:40Speaker 2: play the same interview from Monday every day of the
- 6:42Speaker 2: week and call it a radio show. You never have
- 6:45Speaker 2: to worry about us doing that here. The replays. Let's
- 6:48Speaker 2: see here. Jason in Flagstaff. Better start Swan. Texas made
- 6:54Speaker 2: Trinidad-Chamberlain play like the whole first half Saturday. They will
- 6:59Speaker 2: absolutely murder true freshman Billy Puckett.
- 7:00Speaker 1: P.S.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Baylor didn't just lose to Kansas. They were up 21-10
- 7:04Speaker 2: in the fourth and somehow got beat in regulation. Well,
- 7:07Speaker 2: and that's probably part of it, right? You'd lose a
- 7:09Speaker 2: ballgame like that. And Texas, I mean, you've got to
- 7:13Speaker 2: credit Will Muschamp and that defense and what they were
- 7:16Speaker 2: able to do against Ole Miss. They really confused Trinidad
- 7:22Speaker 2: and Chambers. And, of course, you've got to be able
- 7:23Speaker 2: to run the football, too, and Ole Miss was not
- 7:25Speaker 2: able to do that. But, I mean, you've got to
- 7:26Speaker 2: credit Ole Miss also for fighting back the onside kick.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I mean, it was a great ending. You know, the
- 7:32Speaker 2: Dolphins get their first win for head coach Jeff Hatley.
- 7:37Speaker 3: And I'm not excited about it. They beat the Jets
- 7:39Speaker 3: by three, 28-25. Reds dog. Hey, Gator Matt, are they
- 7:45Speaker 3: as bad as Missouri and South Carolina asking for a
- 7:49Speaker 3: team that beat them both? How about that?
- 7:51Speaker 2: Look, State isn't playing well, and State is not a
- 7:55Speaker 2: bad football team. You don't go beat Minnesota and South
- 7:59Speaker 2: Carolina on the road and then beat a good Missouri
- 8:01Speaker 2: team if you're bad. Just when you look, you see
- 8:04Speaker 2: how fragile these rosters are. They're very, very fragile. All right,
- 8:11Speaker 2: Bill Belichick, North Carolina. Bill Belichick says they have Miami
- 8:14Speaker 2: this week. Doubling Miami star wide receiver Malachi Toney doesn't, quote,
- 8:18Speaker 2: stop him. You would think it would, but not really.
- 8:23Speaker 2: He's made several big plays off double coverage because he
- 8:25Speaker 2: knows how to beat double coverage. At his age, that's
- 8:31Speaker 2: pretty impressive. I don't see any weak points in his game.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I've been saying for a year, best player in college football,
- 8:39Speaker 2: Malachi Toney.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Just me. Just me.
- 8:42Speaker 2: And you got the man talking about it. You know,
- 8:45Speaker 2: he may actually survive at North Carolina this year.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Did you know that?
- 8:49Speaker 2: He may actually survive at North Carolina when it didn't
- 8:53Speaker 2: look like he was going to survive at all.
- 8:56Speaker 3: And let's see. Where are they? There they are.
- 8:58Speaker 2: So they are sitting at four and three. They got
- 9:02Speaker 2: Miami this week. They won't beat them or shouldn't. At UConn,
- 9:07Speaker 2: that's winnable. Louisville, they'll be in the game. At Virginia,
- 9:11Speaker 2: NC State. Could be a 6-6 or 7-5 year. 601-885-3776

- 10:42Speaker 2: an hour. We'll get to your text here in just
- 10:44Speaker 2: a bit. And we've also got new classifications out for
- 10:48Speaker 2: the MHSAA. That dropped about 30 minutes ago. We'll get
- 10:51Speaker 2: into that.
- 10:52Speaker 3: We've got some shakeups. We've got some.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Schools that have moved. And we'll be playing differently next year.
- 10:59Speaker 2: They reclassify every two years. Let's see here, Dre. He says,
- 11:05Speaker 2: you must not have seen Jeremiah Smith. He's done it
- 11:07Speaker 2: against tougher competition. Dre, I like Jeremiah Smith, but what
- 11:10Speaker 2: I'm talking about with Malachi Toney is the fact that
- 11:14Speaker 2: he is a Swiss Army knife of sorts in that
- 11:19Speaker 2: you can use him in the slot, you can put
- 11:21Speaker 2: him out wide, you can put him in the backfield.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Love Jeremiah Smith and his game. But if we're starting
- 11:27Speaker 2: backyard football teams like the old days where you just pick,
- 11:30Speaker 2: you know, I get first pick I'm taking Tony.
- 11:33Speaker 3: That's just me. Jason and Flagstaff.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Speaking of backup QBs, have y'all been keeping up with
- 11:38Speaker 2: Coach Leach's guy, Chris Parson, absolutely lining it up at
- 11:42Speaker 2: Austin Peay?
- 11:43Speaker 1: No, Jason.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Beaver, how much Austin Peay football have you watched? Austin says,
- 11:48Speaker 2: Gator Man is bringing up a legit fear of mine.
- 11:50Speaker 2: If Camario leaves State, it won't be over money. It'll
- 11:53Speaker 2: be because State can't surround him with enough talent to win.
- 11:58Speaker 2: But he had enough talent to win. They were 4-0. And,
- 12:02Speaker 2: of course, he goes out on one leg on Alabama.
- 12:06Speaker 2: They've got enough talent to win. I mean, people are
- 12:09Speaker 2: acting like there's no talent. There could be more talent.
- 12:13Speaker 2: They were 4-0 with him. And then the injury happened.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Possum Neck Joe. Is Gator Matt the swimming pool guy
- 12:22Speaker 2: and the bike rider? I think Joe just combined two textures.
- 12:27Speaker 2: The swimming pool guy is more bully. The bike rider,
- 12:31Speaker 2: is that Rezdog? Is he the bike rider?
- 12:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 3: So, no, Gator Matt is a totally different guy, Joe.
- 12:38Speaker 3: And Miko. I don't like it one bit, Jake, the
- 12:40Speaker 3: reclassification it is. Let's jump into it.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Reclass, MHSAA, 24 teams in 7A.
- 12:47Speaker 3: A lot of these are going to stay the same.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Tupelo with, again, remember, this is done on enrollment. This
- 12:55Speaker 3: is done on enrollment. I think it's 10th.
- 12:58Speaker 2: 10th through 12th, it may be 9th through 12th, but
- 13:01Speaker 2: it's based on enrollment. For instance, Tupelo, highest enrollment in
- 13:05Speaker 2: the state of Mississippi, 1,539 guys and girls. It's a
- 13:09Speaker 2: lot of kids. DeSoto Central, number two, 1433. Northwest Rankin
- 13:15Speaker 2: easily stays at 7A, 1357. Ocean Springs, 1350. Not going
- 13:19Speaker 2: to read all these, but South Haven, Biloxi, Clinton, Oak Grove, Gulfport, Hernando, Brandon,
- 13:25Speaker 2: Madison Central, Harrison Central, Germantown, D'Iberville, Starkville, Lewisburg, Oxford, Petal,
- 13:34Speaker 2: Horn Lake, St. Martin, Murrah, West Harrison, and Meridian. Meridian
- 13:42Speaker 2: is the 24th team in with 889 students.
- 13:45Speaker 3: That's where the cut is.
- 13:49Speaker 4: 6A.
- 13:50Speaker 2: They went from being the lowest in 7A to the
- 13:53Speaker 2: highest in 6A. Your Pearl Pirates will drop to 6A
- 13:57Speaker 2: next year. Do you have any thoughts on this? Back
- 14:00Speaker 2: down to 6A, which means they'll play that Rankin County
- 14:02Speaker 2: Super Bowl, which is Friday. They will play that now in, like,
- 14:05Speaker 2: week three.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Oh, that again?
- 14:09Speaker 8: Oh, God, I hated that so much, man. And that
- 14:11Speaker 8: happened back when.
- 14:13Speaker 5: This was back when 5A was still the highest classification.
- 14:18Speaker 5: And yeah, the first year that happened, that game moved
- 14:22Speaker 5: from the final game of the year to the third week.
- 14:26Speaker 5: It was scorching hot. It was early September. I hated
- 14:30Speaker 5: it so much. So that's coming back right on.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Great.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Rankin County Super Bowl. Let's go enjoy 102 degrees tonight.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Pearl moves to 6A. Now, some in Pearl City have
- 14:44Speaker 2: been cheerleading for this.
- 14:47Speaker 7: Some.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Because they feel like they're not equipped to play 7A
- 14:51Speaker 2: football anymore.
- 14:52Speaker 8: They're not.
- 14:53Speaker 3: You don't think?
- 14:55Speaker 7: Nope.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Now, Warren Central made this switch a few years ago,
- 15:01Speaker 2: and it paid dividends for them. Because Warren Central was
- 15:04Speaker 2: in Region 3-7A, or 6A at the time. And they
- 15:07Speaker 2: were good. They made the playoffs. They just could never
- 15:09Speaker 2: get over the hump. They go to 6A, they get
- 15:11Speaker 2: over the hump. Terry stays at 6A. South Panola, Hancock,
- 15:14Speaker 2: a lot of the same teams. Callaway is at the
- 15:20Speaker 2: bottom of 6.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Nope, nope.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Lylat, Gaucher, 614, along with Cleveland Central and Long Beach.
- 15:26Speaker 3: The top of, what is this?
- 15:29Speaker 2: 4A, no, 5A. The top of 5A, and there's 24
- 15:33Speaker 2: teams in 7, 24 teams in 6, and 24 teams
- 15:36Speaker 2: in 5. Lafayette is the top team as far as
- 15:39Speaker 2: enrollment with 6.05. This is courtesy of the MHSA website.
- 15:43Speaker 2: South Jones, and you roll through here, Florence stays at 5A.
- 15:49Speaker 3: West Point is at 5A. Leak High School is at
- 15:55Speaker 3: the bottom along with Lanier as far as students.
- 15:57Speaker 2: 4.85 for Lanier, 4.67 for Leak. 4A, Corinth, number one
- 16:04Speaker 2: at 460 students. Bottom end, you got to go to Moorville, 306. 3A,
- 16:13Speaker 2: Ripley at the top. Wow, Mendenhall is going to be
- 16:17Speaker 2: at 3A. I'm thinking they're 4A now. Mendenhall, 301 students.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Noxaby stays at three. Kossuth, a lot of the same
- 16:26Speaker 2: ones here. Bottom of 3A, Our Lady Academy.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Are they new?
- 16:32Speaker 2: Did they come over from the MAIS? Our Lady Academy, 204. 2A,
- 16:38Speaker 2: Thomas E. Edwards Senior High School. That's got to be new.
- 16:42Speaker 1: 203, top.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Bottom, East Marion High School, along with Wilkinson County. And
- 16:49Speaker 2: there's 48 schools, by the way, or 40 schools in 2A,
- 16:52Speaker 2: 40 schools in 3A, 40 schools in 4A. And you
- 16:57Speaker 2: get down to 1A. Hamilton High, number one at 135.
- 17:01Speaker 2: And you get a lot of the same schools here.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Did you know the Mississippi School of Math and Science
- 17:08Speaker 2: plays football?
- 17:10Speaker 3: I had no idea. They're 1A.
- 17:13Speaker 2: They're listed here. Maybe they don't play football, but they're
- 17:15Speaker 2: in here, 124 students. My favorite 1A team, Calhoun City
- 17:20Speaker 2: at 123. And you get all the way down to
- 17:23Speaker 2: the bottom. Mississippi School for the Blind at eight students.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Is that real?
- 17:30Speaker 2: They can't be 1A, but I'm sure they play eight-man
- 17:31Speaker 2: football if they played. Piney Woods, obviously basketball. So that's
- 17:36Speaker 2: some of your highlights of reclassification. Somebody says, what about
- 17:39Speaker 2: Holmes County? All right, let's go look at Holmes County Central.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Let's see. They were 5A this year, or are 5A.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Let's see. Are they still.
- 17:50Speaker 7: 5A?
- 17:50Speaker 3: Where did they go? Hold on. Let me go back
- 17:54Speaker 3: up here. That's 2A. Let's just go all the way up.
- 17:56Speaker 6: 7A, 6A.
- 18:00Speaker 4: 5A.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Yeah, they stay at 5A. 491 students. They're closer to
- 18:07Speaker 2: the back end, but they're still ahead of several schools.
- 18:09Speaker 2: They're right there with Caledonia High School and with Greenwood.
- 18:13Speaker 2: If you've got a school you're interested in on where
- 18:15Speaker 2: they land in the reclassification, let us know. 601-885-3776. But
- 18:19Speaker 2: the takeaway is Pearl dropping from 7A to 6A. That's
- 18:23Speaker 2: the big takeaway out of all this. And you're saying
- 18:26Speaker 2: you're happy with it or you're not happy with it?
- 18:30Speaker 5: As far as overall competing-wise, it's probably best for them.
- 18:37Speaker 5: You are not getting it done in 7A. It's been dreck.
- 18:44Speaker 5: The one thing I don't like, like I talked about,
- 18:47Speaker 5: was the... Pearl Brandon, I always feel like, and it's
- 18:53Speaker 5: not just Pearl Brandon, it's rivalry games. High school, I
- 18:58Speaker 5: don't care who it is, I always feel like you
- 19:01Speaker 5: build toward your rivalry game.
- 19:03Speaker 8: I always want it at the end of the year.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Like I said, and it was my junior year, freshman
- 19:09Speaker 5: and sophomore year. That's when we were 5A. We dropped
- 19:15Speaker 5: down to 4A, and that's when it was moved. I
- 19:17Speaker 5: couldn't stand placing that game. The whole atmosphere just sucks.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Like you said, it's September. It's early September. It's week three.
- 19:26Speaker 5: It's too hot. It just felt weird. It didn't feel, yeah.
- 19:32Speaker 5: I mean, obviously it meant something because it's still your rivalry,
- 19:35Speaker 5: or it's still your rival, but the whole atmosphere was
- 19:39Speaker 5: just completely off.
- 19:40Speaker 8: I feel like that ruins it a little bit. Not
- 19:43Speaker 8: ruins it, but you.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Know what I'm saying.
- 19:44Speaker 3: I know what you're saying.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 19:45Speaker 8: You know where I'm trying to go here.
- 19:46Speaker 2: It has happened a couple times. Back when you were
- 19:48Speaker 2: in high school and then it happened. in 2013, 14, 15,
- 19:50Speaker 2: somewhere in there. Pearl has done this dip and back,
- 19:55Speaker 2: dip and back. And they're building a ton of houses
- 19:58Speaker 2: out off towards, I believe, El Dorado. And there's a
- 20:00Speaker 2: lot of rooftops in Pearl. So I wouldn't be surprised
- 20:03Speaker 2: if this swung back the other way in two years.
- 20:05Speaker 2: We're brought to you by Gutter Masters. By the way,
- 20:07Speaker 2: Miko says no beaver.
- 20:08Speaker 1: No.
- 20:09Speaker 3: No to what? I don't know.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Miko, what are you.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Saying no to?

- 21:31Speaker 2: and Communications. Online at soundcomav.com. Collaborate, design, and build with
- 21:35Speaker 2: Sound and Communications. We'll have Mike Grace coming up here
- 21:37Speaker 2: in about 40 minutes, 45 minutes. If you've got a
- 21:39Speaker 2: question on the reclassification, we can get to that as
- 21:42Speaker 2: the MHSA has released their reclass for next year. It
- 21:45Speaker 2: goes two years. What I'm trying to figure out, though,
- 21:47Speaker 2: is who will jump into Region 3-7-A? Because Pearl is
- 21:52Speaker 2: moving out. I mean, you still have Northwest. You still
- 21:56Speaker 2: have Oak Grove. You still have Brandon.
- 22:00Speaker 3: You have Petal. And you still have Meridian. So somebody's
- 22:04Speaker 3: got to move in. They'll either move.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Typically the way they do this, they'll move a coast team,
- 22:09Speaker 2: maybe West Harrison or St.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Martin.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Or, no, it won't be Lewisburg. I guess North. D'Iberville.
- 22:16Speaker 3: They'll kick and scream over that.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Harrison.
- 22:18Speaker 3: It's probably like Harrison Central. Bad to guess.
- 22:22Speaker 2: They'll move somebody from the coast. It's what they did
- 22:23Speaker 2: last time Pearl fell down. They put George County in
- 22:26Speaker 2: that region. Yeah, it really didn't make any sense, but
- 22:29Speaker 2: you got to do something. You got to move somebody
- 22:32Speaker 2: or some groups of somebodies. Let's see. Jason and Flagstaff. Yes,
- 22:37Speaker 2: 4-0 with him. Then he's hurt because he's running for
- 22:40Speaker 2: his life because the left side is crap, going to
- 22:44Speaker 2: cry now. You can't blame his injury on the left side, Jason.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I mean, that turf toe could have happened anywhere. It's
- 22:51Speaker 2: just one of those deals. All right, let me get
- 22:52Speaker 2: caught up on these notes over here. Let's see here. BCSNowsHow.com.
- 22:59Speaker 2: They have their new BCS rankings today. Miami and the
- 23:03Speaker 2: old BCS would be one. Ohio State, two. That would
- 23:05Speaker 2: be your championship game right now. Miami, Ohio State.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Indiana, three. UCLA, four, which is crazy. I mean, UCLA
- 23:12Speaker 3: just continues to win. Notre Dame, five. Georgia, six. Kentucky, seven. Utah, eight. Texas, nine.
- 23:19Speaker 2: And Alabama, ten. LSU, BYU, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Florida.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Texas Tech, Tennessee, Houston, Arizona, and Oklahoma. That's your top 19,
- 23:29Speaker 2: courtesy of the old BCS. Also, just when you thought
- 23:33Speaker 2: USC was turning a corner after the home loss to Oregon,
- 23:37Speaker 2: the Trojans went to Madison and Wisconsin stuffed them into
- 23:39Speaker 2: a locker. That loss embodied everything that has gone wrong
- 23:44Speaker 2: for Lincoln Riley. And Ari Wasserman's got several other thoughts
- 23:49Speaker 2: on college football. We'll get to 15 thoughts on week eight. Yeah,
- 23:52Speaker 2: Lincoln Riley's in trouble. SEC teams' chances now to make
- 23:56Speaker 2: the college football playoff. Updated list, Georgia, 92.5% chance they
- 24:03Speaker 2: make the college football playoff.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Then it drops pretty significantly. Alabama, 69.8%.
- 24:07Speaker 4: LSU, 59.7%. Texas, 53.3%.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Ole Miss, 48.9%.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Kentucky, 30.8%. And that Kentucky number could still swing if
- 24:11Speaker 3: they continue to win. Florida, 25.7%.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Tennessee, 21.6. Missouri, 9.3. Oklahoma, 5.5. Auburn, 1.9. South Carolina, 1.7.
- 24:30Speaker 2: And Mississippi State, 0.2.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Vanderbilt, not on this list.
- 24:35Speaker 2: That's your chance to make the college football playoff. Also,
- 24:42Speaker 2: we're going to get into a hot seat check. How
- 24:45Speaker 2: hot are the seats? We're going to get into that.
- 24:47Speaker 2: It's Jeff Levy on this list. We'll get into this,
- 24:49Speaker 2: courtesy of On3.
- 24:50Speaker 4: And....
- 24:52Speaker 3: The Baylor coaching hot board. I do want to get
- 24:54Speaker 3: into that.
- 24:54Speaker 2: I told you I wanted to see who is at
- 24:56Speaker 2: least listed on the hot board. Texas star offensive tackle
- 24:59Speaker 2: Trevor Goosby will miss the rest of the season for 2026.
- 25:03Speaker 2: As he had an injury this past weekend, he is out. Also,
- 25:07Speaker 2: Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy will practice this week. Eli
- 25:11Speaker 2: Drinkinson out. So he is finally coming back. And you're
- 25:16Speaker 2: ready for some Heisman updates? I know you love Heisman updates.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Jeremiah Smith, No. 1, Ohio State, followed by Darian Minson, Malachi, Tony, Miami.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Jesse LeGray at Oregon State, Trinidad and Chambers, Drew Mestemaker,
- 25:28Speaker 2: Oklahoma State. Braden Adkinson, Oregon State. Deshaun Bishop, Tennessee. Bear Buckmeyer, BYU,
- 25:38Speaker 2: and Nate Shepard at Duke. Speaking of that Big 12,
- 25:45Speaker 2: after this weekend, where both of the big teams go down,
- 25:50Speaker 2: By the way, let me say it the right way,
- 25:51Speaker 2: the Monster Energy Big 12, because that's what they are.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Utah is 4-0 and 7-0. They are in the driver's
- 25:58Speaker 2: seat in the Big 12. Followed by Arizona at 3-1, 6-1.
- 26:05Speaker 2: How long before Jason lays claim to Arizona and gives
- 26:09Speaker 2: up Mississippi State?
- 26:09Speaker 3: What do you think? BYU 3-1, 6-1.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Texas Tech 3-1, 6-1. Oklahoma State 3-1, 5-2. And then
- 26:14Speaker 2: you've got a lot of 3-2s. So it's still a one, two, three, four,
- 26:21Speaker 2: five team race in the Big 12. Possum Neck Joe.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Some of these callers need to be reclassified. Is he
- 26:30Speaker 2: talking about callers and texters? Resnok, so you're saying there's
- 26:34Speaker 2: a chance. Save us, Swan. Yeah, there's a chance. Aren't
- 26:40Speaker 2: you pulling for A.J.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Swan, though?
- 26:42Speaker 2: Would you like to see him go head up and
- 26:44Speaker 2: beat Arch Manning this weekend? How big a story would
- 26:46Speaker 2: that be?
- 26:48Speaker 8: That would be interesting.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:50Speaker 8: To say the least.
- 26:53Speaker 2: We still got to come up with a good slogan, though.
- 26:56Speaker 2: You didn't like any of my slogans on AJ Swann.
- 26:59Speaker 2: All right, let me move forward here. We got the
- 27:00Speaker 2: Heisman Odds. Georgia is a heavy favorite to beat Florida
- 27:04Speaker 2: in Atlanta on Saturday, courtesy of Polymarket. Can John Summerall
- 27:09Speaker 2: pick up his third top 10 win of the year?
- 27:11Speaker 2: Georgia by Polymarket, 79% chance to win this, 21% chance
- 27:14Speaker 2: for the Florida Gators. And I will get into odds
- 27:20Speaker 2: courtesy of Ameristar Casino here in a bit. First, let's
- 27:23Speaker 2: go to the Mississippi Sports Medicine call line. Let's go
- 27:25Speaker 2: to primetime. Primetime, welcome in, brother. What's going on?
- 27:29Speaker 7: Jake, it's Nate. What's going on?
- 27:30Speaker 4: Hey, brother.
- 27:30Speaker 1: How you doing?
- 27:32Speaker 7: All right. You talking about coaches on the hot seat?
- 27:35Speaker 7: What about Colorado Coach Brian Pratt and my brother from
- 27:40Speaker 7: another mother?
- 27:41Speaker 2: I think he is probably on that seat. I'm going
- 27:43Speaker 2: to get into those coaching hot seats. But, you know,
- 27:46Speaker 2: I think.
- 27:48Speaker 2: At 2-5, and they haven't won a game since Weber
- 27:51Speaker 2: State on the 12th of September. I would think that
- 27:53Speaker 2: he is definitely on that hot seat for sure. And
- 27:56Speaker 2: they got Kansas State coming up with Arizona State on
- 27:59Speaker 2: the road, Houston, Cincinnati on the road, and Central Florida.
- 28:01Speaker 2: So it's not looking good for Deion. They're averaging 20
- 28:05Speaker 2: a game and giving up 30 a game. For whatever reason,
- 28:08Speaker 2: it just hadn't worked out there.
- 28:11Speaker 7: Well, you see what he got out there, quarterback now.
- 28:14Speaker 7: A 5-9. Chubbick. kid playing quarterback. You know, he played,
- 28:20Speaker 7: he's decent, you know, but like he could have, you know,
- 28:24Speaker 7: brought somebody in better than that, you know, be, be
- 28:26Speaker 7: a deposition. You know what I'm saying? Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Well, they've got one, two, three, four quarterbacks on the roster.
- 28:32Speaker 2: And that's the thing is you see it with Mississippi state,
- 28:35Speaker 2: nobody behind Camaro Taylor. Um, Julian Lewis did not work
- 28:39Speaker 2: out the transfer, uh, for, for Dion. So they've got,
- 28:42Speaker 2: you know, just, they haven't got the guy and, you know,
- 28:45Speaker 2: they can't score points. And when you can't score it,
- 28:47Speaker 2: you're not going to win it.
- 28:49Speaker 7: Yeah, no excuse. You know, that's his recruitment. He's picking
- 28:52Speaker 7: those guys to play for him.
- 28:54Speaker 3: That's it. There ain't no doubt.
- 28:55Speaker 7: One more thing. That game, Sanders, should have been in Oxford,
- 28:59Speaker 7: shouldn't it?
- 29:00Speaker 3: Which game?
- 29:01Speaker 7: Texas Ole Miss.
- 29:03Speaker 3: It should have been in Oxford?
- 29:05Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah. You know, Archie Manning, the grandson. That game
- 29:09Speaker 7: should have been in Oxford.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Oh, I got you. I see what you're saying. Yeah,
- 29:12Speaker 3: I mean, I guess.
- 29:13Speaker 7: Archie Manning, the grandson.
- 29:17Speaker 3: No, it would have made for a better storyline for sure,
- 29:19Speaker 3: but obviously the SEC office had everything to do with that.
- 29:24Speaker 7: Yep. But I haven't seen Peyton or Eli in none
- 29:26Speaker 7: of the games. I see the father, you know, and
- 29:28Speaker 7: the grandmother.
- 29:30Speaker 3: They may be lurking around there somewhere.
- 29:31Speaker 7: No, I haven't watched every game, but I haven't saw Peyton.
- 29:33Speaker 7: He don't want his game.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure they're lurking around there somewhere.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:39Speaker 7: All right, brother.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Hey, we appreciate you. Don't be a stranger.
- 29:41Speaker 7: All right, appreciate it.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Appreciate it, Jake. See you.
- 29:44Speaker 2: 601-897-1059 if you want to call us on the Mississippi
- 29:46Speaker 2: Sports Medicine caller line. Humphreys County Dogs. Edgy Arch versus
- 29:51Speaker 2: the Swan Truck. What do you think about that this weekend?
- 29:56Speaker 2: Edgy Arch versus the Swan Truck. All right, how about
- 29:59Speaker 2: this hot seat? Let's look at some hot seat numbers,
- 30:03Speaker 2: courtesy of On3. Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights lost to No.
- 30:09Speaker 2: 24 Northwestern on Saturday. They dropped to 2-5. Greg Sciano
- 30:13Speaker 2: is on the proverbial hot seat at Rutgers. They don't
- 30:19Speaker 2: really give you kind of a gauge on this, but
- 30:20Speaker 2: he is on that hot seat. The program is 3-10
- 30:23Speaker 2: in the Big Ten in the last two years. Athletic
- 30:26Speaker 2: director Kelly Zinn Who is the year into the job?
- 30:29Speaker 2: We'll have to make a decision on the future of
- 30:30Speaker 2: the program in the coming weeks. Of course, Baylor, they
- 30:34Speaker 2: fired Dave Aranda. TCU, the Horned Frogs, are now 3-4
- 30:38Speaker 2: on the season, 1-3 in Big 12 play. All four
- 30:41Speaker 2: losses have come on one-score games. And, of course, TCU
- 30:46Speaker 2: has fired offensive coordinator and offensive line coach A.J.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Ricker.
- 30:50Speaker 2: So they're going through the staff right now. They're just
- 30:52Speaker 2: chopping wood, chopping people off.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Speaking of Colorado.
- 30:57Speaker 2: The losing streak extended to five games on Saturday night
- 31:00Speaker 2: with a 57-24 loss to Oklahoma State on the road.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Questions continue to be raised about Deion Sanders and the
- 31:06Speaker 2: future in Boulder. The Buffaloes are winless in the Big
- 31:09Speaker 2: 12 this season and are 1-12 in the last two
- 31:11Speaker 2: seasons in the Big 12. Athletics director Fernando Lovo will
- 31:15Speaker 2: have to make a decision on whether he can afford
- 31:17Speaker 2: a $ 26. 1 million buyout. And that's going to be the
- 31:21Speaker 2: big thing is, do they want to pay that money
- 31:23Speaker 2: on the buyout? USC is on this list, and that
- 31:28Speaker 2: is it. No Jeff Levy, no others right now. How
- 31:33Speaker 2: Lincoln Riley finishes out the season will be critical to
- 31:36Speaker 2: his future in L.A. Could he look around and find, like,
- 31:41Speaker 2: an opening at Texas? Would Texas let Steve Sarkeesian go
- 31:44Speaker 2: to hire Lincoln Riley?
- 31:48Speaker 8: I don't know how much you're gaining there.
- 31:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I don't either.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Hey, we're brought to you by the Westin Jackson. Go

- 33:09Speaker 2: you today. Mike Gray's coming up here in about 30 minutes.
- 33:13Speaker 2: All right, let's see. JC on the Cowboy Melonies text line. Jake,
- 33:16Speaker 2: is Heinz going to win the MACCC championship? Hashtag the prophecy. Well,
- 33:23Speaker 2: they got a shot. They got a really good shot.
- 33:25Speaker 2: They punched their ticket last Thursday night in a comeback
- 33:28Speaker 2: win down at Gulf Coast, so they're in the game.
- 33:31Speaker 2: That's the MA Triple C Championship, which will be coming up,
- 33:35Speaker 2: I think, a week from Saturday.
- 33:37Speaker 3: I think it's on a Saturday.
- 33:40Speaker 2: And they'll play the winner of Northeast versus East Mississippi.
- 33:46Speaker 3: The Lions.
- 33:48Speaker 2: They play on Thursday night. Now, the bigger question for
- 33:50Speaker 2: Hines is... Of course, you've got to win Thursday. They
- 33:54Speaker 2: play Jones Thursday. Final home game. They're seventh in the
- 33:58Speaker 2: new poll. Seventh in the country. East Mississippi and Northeast
- 34:03Speaker 2: are five and six. So why are you smirking like that? Oh,
- 34:08Speaker 2: you got something.
- 34:09Speaker 5: I feel like the bigger question here, though, isn't the
- 34:14Speaker 5: hashtag the prophecy. Isn't the prophecy, JC, Heinz Getting there,
- 34:22Speaker 5: but finishing in second. Because remember, JC is the one
- 34:26Speaker 5: that coined the Wimberly curse.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 34:30Speaker 8: That's what you do to Brandon. Constantly second place. Is
- 34:33Speaker 8: that the prophecy he speaks of, though?
- 34:37Speaker 1: You know what?
- 34:38Speaker 3: It probably is.
- 34:39Speaker 2: He is asking, am I going to get Hines to
- 34:43Speaker 2: second place and then sit there? Which would mean a
- 34:46Speaker 2: loss in the championship game.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Jinx.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Let's hope not. Let's hope not.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Because this team's got a really good shot to... He said, yes.
- 34:57Speaker 2: What's Brandon ranked right now? All right, so Brandon is.
- 35:03Speaker 2: If the season ended today, they would win Region 3-7-8.
- 35:06Speaker 2: They're in a three-way tie, but they have the tiebreaker.
- 35:09Speaker 2: And let me go over here and see if our
- 35:12Speaker 2: friend Chris Brooks... I've been telling him to come in studio.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Should we do that tomorrow? Think he can come in tomorrow?
- 35:18Speaker 8: You know he said he was coming in last week,
- 35:20Speaker 8: by the way.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:21Speaker 5: Because you talked to him two Fridays ago and you said,
- 35:23Speaker 5: when are you going to come in the studio?
- 35:25Speaker 8: He said, let's do it next week. And then last
- 35:28Speaker 8: week came and went.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Let me see if I can get him in tomorrow.
- 35:31Speaker 2: See if I can get Chris in tomorrow for a
- 35:32Speaker 2: couple hours. Statewide, last week they were eighth. They beat
- 35:38Speaker 2: Oak Grove, who was third. So they'll probably move somewhere
- 35:40Speaker 2: into fourth or fifth. So right now, though, number one
- 35:44Speaker 2: in Region 370.
- 35:45Speaker 3: Is where they're at.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Possum Neck Joe, are y'all going to be sixth? Are
- 35:52Speaker 2: y'all going to six? Oh, yeah, Joe, we'll be here
- 35:53Speaker 2: till six o'clock. Yeah, we'll be here till six. First
- 35:56Speaker 2: I thought he meant was we dropping out of classification 6A,
- 35:59Speaker 2: talking all this stuff.
- 36:01Speaker 3: And JC says, yep. Oh, he said, what's Brandon ranked
- 36:05Speaker 3: right now?
- 36:05Speaker 1: Yep.
- 36:06Speaker 2: So they are number one in Region 378. Jason and Flagstaff.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I'm definitely pulling for Noah. Is that Fajita, the quarterback?
- 36:15Speaker 2: So he's pulling for Arizona.
- 36:17Speaker 1: See, Jason.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Well, probably, if he hadn't already, he probably has thrown
- 36:21Speaker 2: away his Mississippi State gear and turned it in for
- 36:24Speaker 2: Cougar gear, right?
- 36:26Speaker 3: Arizona. The Wildcats, not Cougars. Wildcats.
- 36:31Speaker 2: And let's see here. Beth Moen's offspring. I have cursed
- 36:34Speaker 2: my Vols. Don't feel bad, Jake. Same boat we are.
- 36:39Speaker 3: No Vols.
- 36:40Speaker 2: And more bully. You might as well get a talking
- 36:43Speaker 2: parrot in there instead of that idiot Brooks. Wow, he
- 36:48Speaker 2: just took a shot at Chris. A talking parrot. It'd
- 36:52Speaker 2: be kind of cool if we had a talking parrot
- 36:53Speaker 2: in here, though, wouldn't it?
- 36:56Speaker 8: Is it better than Chris Brooks?
- 37:00Speaker 1: 601-897-1059.
- 37:01Speaker 2: That is the Mississippi Sports Medicine caller line. And you
- 37:04Speaker 2: can text us 601-885-3776. That's the Cabo Maloney's text line.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Let me get you some of these lines for this
- 37:11Speaker 2: week in CAA football. Don't forget you got a Monday
- 37:13Speaker 2: night game tonight. Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia Eagles tonight. Cowboys are
- 37:20Speaker 2: a four-and-a-half point favorite on the road against the Eagles.
- 37:23Speaker 2: That total is at 44. And you've got a Thursday
- 37:25Speaker 2: night NFL game. Carolina versus Green Bay in Green Bay.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Packers are minus four in that one. Total's at 48.
- 37:36Speaker 2: And do we have a.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Correction on something?
- 37:40Speaker 8: Yeah, so he said it's going to be Northwest.
- 37:44Speaker 3: I miss that up every time.
- 37:45Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 37:46Speaker 2: That person is correct. Northwest, not northeast. Northwest versus East
- 37:51Speaker 2: Mississippi Thursday night. See, I'm directionally challenged when it comes
- 37:55Speaker 2: to the JUCOs. I say east instead of west. Yeah,
- 37:58Speaker 2: it is northwest. Thank you for whoever sent that in. JC, Jake,
- 38:03Speaker 2: why are Cougars on your mind? Are you working on
- 38:06Speaker 2: a new sponsor for the show? Shuckers, question mark. No,
- 38:10Speaker 2: there's just a lot of big cats in football, right?
- 38:12Speaker 2: And I can't remember who's who. All right, let's see.
- 38:14Speaker 3: You've got it. Tomorrow night, you can get some Delaware-Western
- 38:18Speaker 3: Kentucky action.
- 38:19Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Western Kentucky minus one. That totals at 57.5. Some of
- 38:24Speaker 2: these lines, though, for the weekend, they're already out. Arizona,
- 38:28Speaker 2: Jason's new team at Texas Tech. Texas Tech is a
- 38:31Speaker 2: three-and-a-half point favorite. Total 54.5. You've also got Auburn at
- 38:39Speaker 2: Ole Miss. Ole Miss is a 13-point favorite. That totals
- 38:41Speaker 2: at 57.5. That line feels way too big for that game.
- 38:45Speaker 2: I think Ole Miss wins the game at 13. Seems way,
- 38:47Speaker 2: way out of whack. And maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Ole
- 38:49Speaker 2: Miss beats them by two touchdowns. Oh, let's see here.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Florida-Georgia totals at 56.5. Georgia minus 11.5 versus the Gators.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Northwestern at Oregon. Oregon a three-point favorite. Don't touch the
- 39:05Speaker 2: Ducks on anything. Totals at 47.5. Arizona State is a 16.5-point
- 39:11Speaker 2: dog at BYU this weekend, 49.5 is the total. Minnesota
- 39:15Speaker 2: at Indiana. Indiana is a 20-point favorite, 42.5 is the total.
- 39:20Speaker 2: And let's see here. Oklahoma State's a big favorite. Florida
- 39:25Speaker 2: State is a modest favorite against Clemson. Miami's a 15.5-point
- 39:29Speaker 2: favorite against Georgia.
- 39:30Speaker 3: North Carolina.
- 39:31Speaker 2: And Ohio State is a 7-point favorite on the road
- 39:34Speaker 2: at USC. Mississippi State, 20.5-point dog against Texas on the road.
- 39:38Speaker 2: That totals at 51.
- 39:39Speaker 5: A.J.
