- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. It's onto Cincinnati was so two
- 0:19Speaker 1: thousand and fourteen. Coming up shortly, we'll tell you Bill
- 0:23Speaker 1: Belichick's new go to. He said it at least twenty
- 0:27Speaker 1: times today when asked who will start at quarterback this
- 0:31Speaker 1: week against the Jets. Welcome to a Wednesday edition. T
- 0:34Speaker 1: had to turn the page to week number eight of
- 0:37Speaker 1: NFL Now on NFL Network. From our newsroom in Los Angeles,
- 0:41Speaker 1: my name is Andrew Ceciliano. Will get to t NF.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We're live in Tampa. Coming up shortly. Let's open though
- 0:46Speaker 1: with the game on Sunday morning. That's a London game
- 0:51Speaker 1: this week. It's Russell Wilson and the Broncos as the
- 0:56Speaker 1: road team facing the Jaguars in London. Remember Russell didn't
- 1:02Speaker 1: play this last week. Brett Rippon got the start. How's
- 1:06Speaker 1: the hamstring today, Russell? Give me a lot of great football.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Could be cool to play back and learning again. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: remember the last time you got to play here. It
- 1:15Speaker 1: was pretty special. So the environments were amazing. You know,
- 1:19Speaker 1: it's full class. I said, you had a good practice today, guys.
- 1:23Speaker 1: In the focus, he had a great team dinner last night,
- 1:25Speaker 1: got really bonded. Connecan We're ready to rock. You remember
- 1:29Speaker 1: the limitations? Could you play right now without many limitations?
- 1:32Speaker 1: It was still I feel great to be ready to rock.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Hard to hear there? Um. I think the microphone was
- 1:39Speaker 1: in l A and the presser was in London, but
- 1:41Speaker 1: he said he's ready to rock. There's also this Russell
- 1:44Speaker 1: Wilson says that he worked out remember the hammy and
- 1:49Speaker 1: stretched for four of the eight hours on the flight
- 1:52Speaker 1: from Denver to London. Said he was doing hi knee
- 1:57Speaker 1: bends in the aisle on the flight while the rest
- 2:02Speaker 1: of the team was trying to sleep. I feel like
- 2:06Speaker 1: we should do like an hour on airplane etiquette. Okay,
- 2:10Speaker 1: Gara Folo, Tom Pella Sero. Oh, I'm sorry, are you
- 2:14Speaker 1: guys busy? I'm just doing during the show. Hey, you
- 2:18Speaker 1: gotta keep the circulation of that wolverine blood. You know
- 2:22Speaker 1: you're up at thirty five thousand feet going across the ocean.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Gotta keep the wolverine blood going. Is that like the
- 2:29Speaker 1: guy that stands in front of the bathroom when you're
- 2:31Speaker 1: sitting on the bulkhead and just won't leave, And he's
- 2:33Speaker 1: like literally like standing on top of your lap and
- 2:36Speaker 1: won't leave for four hours. Okay, Mike, Sorry, just getting
- 2:41Speaker 1: loose here while you guys are doing what you're doing. Well,
- 2:44Speaker 1: Mike does that time? Russell Wilson, Well, here's what I
- 2:47Speaker 1: can tell you, Andrew Russell Wilson. He's dealing with a
- 2:50Speaker 1: significant hamstring strain. It is a grade to a partial tear,
- 2:55Speaker 1: something that is normally a multi week injury. But Russell Wilson,
- 2:59Speaker 1: being a guy who has played through a lot going
- 3:02Speaker 1: back to his days in Seattle, believes can play through
- 3:05Speaker 1: virtually anything. He has his own personal medical team and
- 3:08Speaker 1: a trainer who travels with him. He's always going to
- 3:12Speaker 1: be on and trying to get back onto the field.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So he was not happy that the Broncos held him
- 3:18Speaker 1: out last week from the game against the Jets. And
- 3:21Speaker 1: my understanding is he already has been pushing, which he
- 3:24Speaker 1: showed again in that press conference today, to play this
- 3:28Speaker 1: week in what could potentially be a fairly critical game
- 3:32Speaker 1: against the Jaguars. Now, the Broncos approach has been to
- 3:35Speaker 1: see where he's at through the course the week. There's
- 3:38Speaker 1: obviously when you come back from a hamstring strain like
- 3:40Speaker 1: that sooner than later. There are risk factors involved in
- 3:43Speaker 1: terms of additional injury, additional damage. There's also questions about
- 3:48Speaker 1: how well is he actually going to be able to
- 3:50Speaker 1: move if in fact he is on the field. But again,
- 3:54Speaker 1: this is a guy who played through a whole bunch
- 3:56Speaker 1: of injuries in Seattle. At one point was planned with
- 3:59Speaker 1: both a high ankle spring in one leg and a
- 4:01Speaker 1: sprained MCL in the other leg. He believe Eaves that
- 4:05Speaker 1: he can get onto the field, and the Broncos are
- 4:07Speaker 1: gonna have to make a decision here because if they
- 4:09Speaker 1: hold him out again, that's additional two weeks, because you've
- 4:12Speaker 1: got the buy on the back end of this, an
- 4:14Speaker 1: additional two weeks at the hamstring right and play well
- 4:16Speaker 1: down the stretch. Though, of course, if you lose this game,
- 4:19Speaker 1: you're in a spot where you're played quite possibly looking
- 4:21Speaker 1: at being a seller at the trade deadline, and it
- 4:24Speaker 1: really buried in terms of trying to make a playoff
- 4:26Speaker 1: push the second half of the season. We show it
- 4:29Speaker 1: rust is sleeping enough. Every time I hear he's got
- 4:32Speaker 1: an injury, it's involving him not sleeping. Yet Tom Brady
- 4:36Speaker 1: tells me sleep is a big part of recovery. I
- 4:39Speaker 1: don't know. Maybe I wouldn't be stretching and just getting
- 4:42Speaker 1: my rest instead. Is that going up in somebody tweeters
- 4:46Speaker 1: Jeff Schwartz, my buddy Jeff Schwartz, the former NFL offensive lineman,
- 4:50Speaker 1: who said he found it hard to believe that Russ
- 4:52Speaker 1: was actually going up and down the aisle doing these stretches.
- 4:55Speaker 1: What part about Russ, Jeff, that we've seen over the
- 4:58Speaker 1: years makes that hard to believe a matter of fact,
- 5:00Speaker 1: it's very easy to believe that there's socks who's going
- 5:04Speaker 1: up and down they I like, I get, that's just
- 5:06Speaker 1: you gotta keep the circulation thing. I just I guess
- 5:09Speaker 1: it's the four hours that sort of set NFL Twitter
- 5:12Speaker 1: and we understandably are going overboard here with the calisthetics,
- 5:15Speaker 1: but NFL Twitter kind of just went off with former players.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Are we like what I mean? Judy Batista has already
- 5:23Speaker 1: tweeted that this is the greatest a block in the
- 5:25Speaker 1: history of NFL. Now, granted that's a low bar, but
- 5:28Speaker 1: I'll take the compliment. Duty just just talk about roster,
- 5:31Speaker 1: talk about trades, please, Oh okay, you want to move
- 5:35Speaker 1: on to the next time without the calisthetics. Um, well,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I'm looking at the Broncos because they're an interesting team,
- 5:42Speaker 1: because they're short on draft picks, because they that's right
- 5:45Speaker 1: traded for Russell Wilson h And you've got George Peyton,
- 5:48Speaker 1: who is now looking at the pivotal part and a
- 5:50Speaker 1: couple of guys careers where he goes, do I extend
- 5:52Speaker 1: these guys? I didn't draft them. They're not my guys.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And we always see when general managers come in they're
- 5:58Speaker 1: more willing to part with players that they didn't draft
- 6:01Speaker 1: in the previous regime. Did so, Yeah, show them Bradley
- 6:05Speaker 1: of Jerry Judy. I even see Melvin Gordon's name tossed
- 6:08Speaker 1: around kJ Hamler as well. Now, if they lose this game,
- 6:12Speaker 1: Broncos are about three and four. They lose this game,
- 6:14Speaker 1: they go to three and five, and now all of
- 6:16Speaker 1: a sudden, that maybe changes things. They're not having the
- 6:19Speaker 1: season that we expect them to have in a hotly
- 6:22Speaker 1: contested a f C West. So teams have already made
- 6:25Speaker 1: their calls. Teams will continue to make their calls. I
- 6:27Speaker 1: think Sunday could play a big part in the future
- 6:28Speaker 1: of whether these guys are in Denver or not. And
- 6:30Speaker 1: maybe not just the Broncos, but a lot of teams
- 6:32Speaker 1: have games this week tom week number eight, where Tuesday
- 6:36Speaker 1: could be a lot different with a winner or loss.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Broncos are two and five, by the way, but close
- 6:41Speaker 1: enough for government work there, Mike, Yeah, there are some
- 6:43Speaker 1: other teams that you would think the outcome of these
- 6:46Speaker 1: games in week eight are going to have an impact
- 6:48Speaker 1: on exactly what their approaches. I starting to a coach
- 6:51Speaker 1: the other day who pointed out to me in week
- 6:53Speaker 1: seven there was only one game that both teams entered
- 6:56Speaker 1: with a winning record, because everyone in the league seems
- 6:58Speaker 1: like they're three and three, two and four, and four
- 7:00Speaker 1: and two. Everybody's kind of in that meati middle, except
- 7:03Speaker 1: for you know, the Chiefs, the Bills, the Tolls. It's
- 7:05Speaker 1: a it's a fairly you know, the Giants, the Cowboys,
- 7:07Speaker 1: a short list of those teams that seemed to be
- 7:09Speaker 1: in relatively good shape here. So some of the other
- 7:12Speaker 1: names you've gotta be watching here. What happens with the
- 7:14Speaker 1: Steelers if they lose this game here, They're never a
- 7:16Speaker 1: team that's going to punt on the season. But with
- 7:18Speaker 1: a guy like Chase Claypool, who absolutely is garnering trade interest.
- 7:21Speaker 1: He's not going to come cheap. Could he potentially be
- 7:24Speaker 1: available here? The Texans already are in a spot where
- 7:27Speaker 1: it's hard to imagine they're going to climb out of
- 7:29Speaker 1: this hole given all their shortcomings right now, even though
- 7:31Speaker 1: they got some promising young players, so a Brandon Cooks
- 7:34Speaker 1: who extended back in April because he potentially become available.
- 7:37Speaker 1: There's always a need for speed out there. And then
- 7:39Speaker 1: he got Kareem Hunt with the Browns, another team it's
- 7:41Speaker 1: just trying to stay relevant until the first week in December.
- 7:44Speaker 1: One to Shaun Watston comes back. If they lose on
- 7:47Speaker 1: Monday Night, then that's another team that has pushed back
- 7:50Speaker 1: on Hunt trade calls so far, but does sound like
- 7:52Speaker 1: they're more open to listening right now. That one game
- 7:55Speaker 1: last week, by the way, between two teams with winning
- 7:57Speaker 1: records was the Colts and the Titans. The Titans beat
- 7:59Speaker 1: the Colts swept him, and then the Colts bench Matt Ryan.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So it's just the pieces and it's it's not it's
- 8:05Speaker 1: here Um Dallas is winning, however, Mike and they got
- 8:08Speaker 1: Dak Prescott back this past week. But now there's this
- 8:11Speaker 1: Ezekiel Elliott knee injury to monitor what do we know? Yeah,
- 8:16Speaker 1: he took a shot to the knee on Sunday against
- 8:18Speaker 1: the Lions. Mike McCarthy uh told reporters that it is
- 8:22Speaker 1: a knee sprain after he told them that Uh, Elliott
- 8:25Speaker 1: will not practice today. Called it a nice sprain but
- 8:28Speaker 1: unrelated to the PCL issue that he had previously. So
- 8:34Speaker 1: I suppose that's a good sign because we know the
- 8:35Speaker 1: PCL was something that nagged him, but it's something else
- 8:39Speaker 1: going on in that knee right now. It's the same
- 8:41Speaker 1: knee that he had suffered that PCL in previously. So
- 8:44Speaker 1: we'll keep an eye on his status throughout the week.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But certainly, uh, you're you're feeling good if you're the
- 8:49Speaker 1: Cowboys that you've got Tony Pollard right there. It's been
- 8:51Speaker 1: a real split between the two of them the last
- 8:54Speaker 1: couple of weeks here, So UM, I would expect to
- 8:57Speaker 1: see plenty of Tony Pollard either way, whether Elliott plays
- 9:00Speaker 1: or not. Okay, Judy Batista did tweet during the segment
- 9:03Speaker 1: this is the greatest a block, but then took it
- 9:06Speaker 1: back then told Kevin Seifert, who was saying he was
- 9:09Speaker 1: watching it without sound She's like, that's probably the best
- 9:12Speaker 1: way to do it. So Judy giveth the compliment, and
- 9:14Speaker 1: Judy taketh the compliment back. We're gonna try to seefort,
- 9:18Speaker 1: but he's not listening anyway. Are you gonna correct anything
- 9:21Speaker 1: else of this segment? You you missed a correction right now, YouTube,
- 9:26Speaker 1: go talk offline. Thank you. Just strive for strive for accuracy.
- 9:32Speaker 1: They're all, My god, we all like them. Wait for
- 9:35Speaker 1: no man, you gotta take a van of the opportunity today.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Touched up tamlabay, my god, its reach us up with
- 9:40Speaker 1: one hand and Ted grabs it. Lamar Jackson bed field
- 9:43Speaker 1: and going touch down with a tumble. And that is
- 9:47Speaker 1: what Lamar Jackson can bring to a game. It's dubern
- 9:57Speaker 1: a end zone. It's called touch. Have a cob, young man,
- 10:02Speaker 1: that's the dagger, my friend? Hey have all are not already?
- 10:05Speaker 1: I'm half therefore went on the team. Let's go to
- 10:11Speaker 1: weekend and Thursday Night Football. It's Tom Brady and the
- 10:15Speaker 1: Bucketeers taken on your Baltimore Ravens, two teams that kind
- 10:20Speaker 1: of sort of really badly need a win on DNF.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Here are the coaches, players and coaches can't really afford
- 10:28Speaker 1: to think too much about the last game. You try
- 10:30Speaker 1: to learn from it, take your lesson to the next game,
- 10:32Speaker 1: and you're rolling. You know, it's a long season and
- 10:34Speaker 1: these games keep coming like waves. They don't stop coming.
- 10:37Speaker 1: So you gotta get your footing or you're gonna get
- 10:39Speaker 1: knocked down by the next wave. So that's our job.
- 10:41Speaker 1: We've got to get ready to go. Guys have been good.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I really appreciate they've been locked in, they've been focused,
- 10:46Speaker 1: they've had great attitude. You had a heck of a
- 10:48Speaker 1: practice today, so it's just a matter of transferring that
- 10:51Speaker 1: to Thursday night. You're not beating a soul, not a
- 10:54Speaker 1: team in this league scoring three points, So we know
- 10:57Speaker 1: we gotta be better as an offense, as a whole.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And when you're scoring three points and you are who
- 11:02Speaker 1: we are, it's collectively, it's everywhere across the board is coach.
- 11:05Speaker 1: We gotta coach it better. We gotta play better. We
- 11:08Speaker 1: gotta have awareness and situation of football, all those things
- 11:12Speaker 1: that really mattered that we've been so good at in
- 11:15Speaker 1: the past. Look, both these teams in the playoffs were
- 11:18Speaker 1: to start today. Hi there, Sarah Walshi, Their Bucky Brooks
- 11:20Speaker 1: both would be in They both would win their divisions,
- 11:23Speaker 1: granted the playoffs to not be gained. Week number eight, Sarah,
- 11:26Speaker 1: the Bucketeers are as unbalanced and offensive team as there
- 11:30Speaker 1: is in the NFL. Their worst in the league running
- 11:33Speaker 1: the football, their old line injuries, their skill position injuries.
- 11:36Speaker 1: But it feels like it's deeper than that what's going
- 11:38Speaker 1: on there. So look, they were always a team that
- 11:40Speaker 1: was going to throw the football right with Tom here,
- 11:42Speaker 1: and that's what we got used to. They let him
- 11:43Speaker 1: throw it fifty times a game last season, and there
- 11:45Speaker 1: was the thought that, yes, we want to be balanced.
- 11:47Speaker 1: We don't ever think this team is going to be
- 11:48Speaker 1: a fifty fifty split, but it certainly can't be what
- 11:51Speaker 1: it is. And this team came out Week one tuned
- 11:54Speaker 1: the Cowboys three a huge victory. In that game, they
- 11:58Speaker 1: ran the football for a hundred and fifty two yards.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Leonard four Nett wrapped up a hundred and twenty seven,
- 12:04Speaker 1: and people thought, is the formula, this is the new box,
- 12:06Speaker 1: this is how they're going to get it done. We
- 12:08Speaker 1: haven't seen that again. That is the last time that
- 12:10Speaker 1: this team ran for over a hundred yards in a game.
- 12:13Speaker 1: They're one of only two teams that have just one
- 12:15Speaker 1: game over a hundred yards. Since then, they're averaging sixty
- 12:18Speaker 1: four rushing yards a game. That's not just lowest in
- 12:21Speaker 1: the league, as you mentioned, it is the lowest average
- 12:24Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl error. So this is getting to
- 12:26Speaker 1: be historic proportions. I can tell you Leonard Fournett's really
- 12:29Speaker 1: bothered by this. He really cares. I was in that
- 12:31Speaker 1: locker room last week after they lost, and he just
- 12:33Speaker 1: sat in his locker in his uniform for thirty minutes,
- 12:36Speaker 1: just staring into his locker. He's really disturbed by this.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I know Byron Left which says they've got to get
- 12:41Speaker 1: it going. He has made it a point say it
- 12:43Speaker 1: is not Leonard Fournette. There is clearly a run blocking
- 12:46Speaker 1: problem with this offensive line, and now they could be
- 12:48Speaker 1: having a new starter. We believe that Nick Leverett will
- 12:51Speaker 1: be making his first NFL start for Luke Gadecki uh
- 12:54Speaker 1: this Thursday. Sarah, there's a huge problem with the books
- 13:00Speaker 1: offense is broken. It's been broken for a while. They
- 13:02Speaker 1: don't have any chemistry and feel and flow. And you
- 13:05Speaker 1: can talk about the running game and Leonard for Nett
- 13:07Speaker 1: get going, and that is a great place for the
- 13:09Speaker 1: Buccaneers to start, because as you get that run game going,
- 13:12Speaker 1: what you do is you alleviate pressure on Tom Brady
- 13:14Speaker 1: to have to throw completely off of a drop back
- 13:17Speaker 1: passing game. And so Leonard for Nette, that offensive line
- 13:21Speaker 1: they need to do their jobs and get that running
- 13:23Speaker 1: game going so they can do it. But I believe
- 13:25Speaker 1: there's still a lack of connectivity with this entire unit,
- 13:28Speaker 1: right is the in and out of Tom Brady in
- 13:31Speaker 1: training camp and all the stuff that's kind of swirling
- 13:33Speaker 1: around him during the season. And can they get on
- 13:36Speaker 1: the same page. If they can get on the same
- 13:38Speaker 1: page where they're connected, not necessarily about the xs and ohs,
- 13:41Speaker 1: but just from a communication standpoint, from a connectivity in
- 13:45Speaker 1: a relations standpoint. If they can do that part of it,
- 13:48Speaker 1: the Buccaneers can get back on track. But it's on
- 13:50Speaker 1: TV twil to get everybody the same room and get
- 13:52Speaker 1: them going. I was gonna say, sorry, turnovers factor huge
- 13:55Speaker 1: here as well. Bucks had a couple of turnovers I'm
- 13:57Speaker 1: downs last week, Sarah, which you don't see very often.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Leonard for Net part of that. Yeah, Justice Hill also
- 14:03Speaker 1: turn it over late for the Ravens, gave the Browns
- 14:06Speaker 1: life a short week. I mean, these little things matter.
- 14:10Speaker 1: The little things matter. Coach is always going to tell
- 14:12Speaker 1: you that turnovers matter. Here's a positive for the Buccaneers.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Tom Brady's not turning the ball over. He has just
- 14:16Speaker 1: one interception this year. Now, he's not chucking it down
- 14:18Speaker 1: the field. Lamar Jackson in this group. They started off
- 14:21Speaker 1: as one of the hottest scoring offenses in the league,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and since then we've seen some Lamar Jackson turnovers in
- 14:26Speaker 1: the last couple of games. But here's what's interesting. This
- 14:28Speaker 1: was a Buccaneers defense that really forced turnovers. They had
- 14:31Speaker 1: eight through their first couple of games, and these last
- 14:34Speaker 1: three games they've got nothing. In the Todd Bowls era,
- 14:37Speaker 1: and I'm not just talking as a head coach since
- 14:38Speaker 1: he's been a defensive coordinator here that has never happened.
- 14:41Speaker 1: The last time a Todd Bowls team didn't have a
- 14:44Speaker 1: turnover in three games, you'd have to go back to
- 14:46Speaker 1: his time on the Jets. And here's where it's going
- 14:48Speaker 1: to be really difficult for them. They're gonna be without
- 14:50Speaker 1: likely they're starting corner crawlon Davis Sean Murphy bunting their
- 14:53Speaker 1: other corner. They are missing a lot of guys. They're
- 14:55Speaker 1: hoping to get a Keen Hicks back there on the
- 14:57Speaker 1: defensive line. They don't know if that's going to happen
- 14:59Speaker 1: by Thursday night. But this is a team that has
- 15:02Speaker 1: been able to rely on coming up with the big
- 15:04Speaker 1: turnovers in big moments, and that has not happened recently. Andrew, No,
- 15:08Speaker 1: it has not. As I said, this is not a
- 15:11Speaker 1: must win for either team. They are both in first
- 15:14Speaker 1: right now, but they kind of sort of both need
- 15:18Speaker 1: to win this Tomorrow night. It's gonna be fascinating. Sarah's
- 15:20Speaker 1: gonna be there. Thank you, Sarah, Thank you, Bucky. Both
- 15:22Speaker 1: back later all right, coming up next, the Jets are winning.
- 15:25Speaker 1: The Giants are winning, even if the odds are stacked
- 15:29Speaker 1: against them. Nick Shook has some winners for you. Nothing
- 15:34Speaker 1: can stop me. All right, let's get to the Dolphins
- 15:40Speaker 1: and the Lions. Here to a ton of Aloa came
- 15:43Speaker 1: back in Midaly. Probably shouldn't have lowered his shoulder a
- 15:45Speaker 1: couple of times, but hey, the Dolphins won. Now they
- 15:48Speaker 1: have to get ready to go to Detroit. Obviously, they
- 15:55Speaker 1: got uh their first round draft picked who who's really
- 15:59Speaker 1: looking looking comfortable? Um? Kind of fitting into their defensive scheme. Um,
- 16:04Speaker 1: you know, we've we've seen some some things that that
- 16:08Speaker 1: they that they do really well, and uh, you know
- 16:11Speaker 1: we're we're trying to nitpick on things that that they
- 16:14Speaker 1: don't to try to give us in an advantage you
- 16:17Speaker 1: know in this game man too, we're talking about I
- 16:19Speaker 1: was saying all the right things here Campwell, if I'm
- 16:21Speaker 1: looking at the Lions defensive numbers, yes, they did reasonably
- 16:24Speaker 1: well last week against the Cowboys, but they are last
- 16:27Speaker 1: or second to last in six major defensive categories. Yeah
- 16:32Speaker 1: two and both both to and coach Mike McDaniel seemed
- 16:35Speaker 1: confident that the Dolphins offense can get back in rhythm
- 16:38Speaker 1: and scoring high points like they were in September. To
- 16:41Speaker 1: his message to his team this week, as we have
- 16:43Speaker 1: to finish drives a lot of yards, not as many points.
- 16:46Speaker 1: And as you noted, Mike McDaniels said, this Lions team
- 16:49Speaker 1: is begging for us to treat them lightly. We can't
- 16:52Speaker 1: do that. But the reality is it's a golden opportunity
- 16:55Speaker 1: for this Dolphins offense to get back to their video
- 16:57Speaker 1: game numbers. Lions worse in the league in both yards
- 17:01Speaker 1: and total points. And when you talk about to his playmakers,
- 17:04Speaker 1: just an I opening to see the numbers. Tyreek Kill
- 17:06Speaker 1: and Jalen Waddle are putting up number one and number
- 17:09Speaker 1: four respectively in receiving yards, number one and number two
- 17:13Speaker 1: and twenty plus yard receptions. So we've seen how explosive
- 17:16Speaker 1: the offense can be with him, and McDaniel told me
- 17:18Speaker 1: today that he's been impressed at how they've embraced the
- 17:21Speaker 1: burden of startup and the pressure. I've noticed just how
- 17:25Speaker 1: much they love being around and playing with each other.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Look if I could take you inside the locker room
- 17:30Speaker 1: after the game, Two and his younger brother Talia were
- 17:32Speaker 1: at the locker room, and Waddle came up to him
- 17:35Speaker 1: full of energy, wapping him up, sharing laughs, joking about
- 17:39Speaker 1: some of the players in the game. A few minutes earlier,
- 17:42Speaker 1: Waddle had his pre postgame scrump. Hill came up to
- 17:46Speaker 1: him talking about hyping him up, talking about his Houston chain.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Waddle returned to Favor a few minutes later, asking Hill
- 17:53Speaker 1: about his Sole Runner clothing line. And so that all
- 17:55Speaker 1: translates on the field. And look, when you think about
- 17:58Speaker 1: this team, you talk about star receivers. A lot of
- 18:01Speaker 1: times we think they're selfish divas not the case here.
- 18:04Speaker 1: And I don't know if you've ever seen the movie
- 18:06Speaker 1: Paid in Full, one of my classic favorites. There's a
- 18:09Speaker 1: quote from the character eight that says, everybody eats be
- 18:12Speaker 1: different contexts. But that's the way that Hill and Waddle
- 18:15Speaker 1: play in this offense. There's enough room for both of them.
- 18:18Speaker 1: And I'll endure with this. Andrew. We talk about those
- 18:21Speaker 1: two playmakers, there's a third guy that's emerging in that room.
- 18:24Speaker 1: They're running back Raheem Moster. He had over a hundred
- 18:27Speaker 1: yards this past year total offense, and he has emerged
- 18:30Speaker 1: as a clear number one running back there. We talked
- 18:32Speaker 1: about the lion struggles, their second worst team in the
- 18:35Speaker 1: league in rushing defense. This is a week that Raheem
- 18:37Speaker 1: Moster should be in your fantasy lineup because he's gonna
- 18:40Speaker 1: be a big part of the Dolphins offense. He is
- 18:42Speaker 1: in my fantasy lineup. I told him that yesterday when
- 18:45Speaker 1: he was on our show. Love some Raheem Moster and
- 18:48Speaker 1: good to work in Paid and Full. We worked in
- 18:50Speaker 1: New jack City on Monday. Cam Wolffair Live in Miami,
- 18:54Speaker 1: Thank you, Cam, Dolphins and lines all right. Every week,
- 18:58Speaker 1: Nick shook his hair because he has all shook up.
- 19:00Speaker 1: He loves some underdogs. He he writes about those underdogs.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Hide there Nick on NFL dot Comedies. These numbers here
- 19:06Speaker 1: according to Draft Kings. Let's look at the Giants here, who,
- 19:09Speaker 1: according to Draft Kings or three and a half point
- 19:12Speaker 1: underdogs in Seattle. Geno Smith joins us tomorrow. Um, what
- 19:18Speaker 1: do you like about the Giants in this one? It's
- 19:20Speaker 1: a lot like last week, Andrew. The Giants are awesome
- 19:22Speaker 1: at overcoming deficits. There's six and one in games this season,
- 19:26Speaker 1: and they've trailed in all of them. Only they're the
- 19:28Speaker 1: last one of three teams to do this. The last
- 19:30Speaker 1: team that did it was over twenty years ago. It
- 19:32Speaker 1: was the two thousand Raiders, So it's been a while.
- 19:34Speaker 1: But it's also been a while since the Giants had
- 19:36Speaker 1: been a contending football team, and yet here they are.
- 19:38Speaker 1: They should win this game on paper when you're looking
- 19:41Speaker 1: at records, but you're also facing another team that's been
- 19:43Speaker 1: a surprise in the Seahawks and and who are on
- 19:46Speaker 1: top of the NFC West right now. Now. A lot
- 19:48Speaker 1: of credit goes to Brian Dable for what he's gotten
- 19:50Speaker 1: out of Daniel Jones, who's got a career high passer
- 19:52Speaker 1: rating right now, he's only throwing two picks. Is the
- 19:53Speaker 1: guy who struggled with ball security in the past. That's great,
- 19:56Speaker 1: But the X factor again is Sae Kwon Barkley. Why
- 19:59Speaker 1: well Sales run defense is really bad. They're tied for
- 20:01Speaker 1: twenty nine against the run and their bottom three with
- 20:04Speaker 1: neutral or stack boxes against the Roncquary the next gen stats.
- 20:07Speaker 1: So you can load all the defenders in there you want,
- 20:09Speaker 1: it's not gonna matter. I think the Giants take this point.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Bill Belichick is a road underdog against the upstart Jets
- 20:17Speaker 1: this week. Belichick is yet to name a starting quarterback.
- 20:20Speaker 1: He will quote see how it goes today. What do
- 20:23Speaker 1: you like about Belichick and the Patriots this week, Nick Well?
- 20:27Speaker 1: I expect to see a bit of a bounce back
- 20:29Speaker 1: from them this week because they had a tough loss
- 20:32Speaker 1: and Belichick also thirty four and ten against the Jets
- 20:36Speaker 1: in his career with stretches back to two thousand. But
- 20:38Speaker 1: I also there's a question at quarterback, like you mentioned,
- 20:42Speaker 1: is it gonna be Bailey Zappy, Is it gonna be
- 20:43Speaker 1: Mac Jones? Is it gonna really matter? Because The Jets
- 20:47Speaker 1: are playing pretty good football right now. They've won three
- 20:49Speaker 1: straight against some quality opponents, but they've only faced one
- 20:52Speaker 1: legitimate quarterback in that stretch of time. That would be
- 20:55Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, and they held them to a low output offensively.
- 20:59Speaker 1: They're not going to face the legit started this weekend again,
- 21:02Speaker 1: and the Jets also have to find a way to
- 21:04Speaker 1: replace Breecee Hall and Elijah Vera Tucker. But again history
- 21:08Speaker 1: on the side of the Patriots and Bill Belichick, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 1: coming off of a loss. I know he doesn't have
- 21:11Speaker 1: Tom Brady, but he does have quite a history with
- 21:13Speaker 1: him with these with these paths and their success and
- 21:17Speaker 1: especially against this Jets team. So it's a new era
- 21:19Speaker 1: for the Jets. They got a new imprint on them
- 21:21Speaker 1: with Robert Sala, but it is an old rival of
- 21:23Speaker 1: familiar face. It'll be it'll be interesting to see how
- 21:25Speaker 1: that one plays out. Kind of sort of a new
- 21:27Speaker 1: era for both the Commanders and the Colts. Here, Nick,
- 21:30Speaker 1: you have Washington, according to Draft Kings, is a three
- 21:33Speaker 1: point underdog in Indianapolis. This game was gonna be Wentz
- 21:36Speaker 1: against Ryan. It's Heineke against Ellener. What do you like
- 21:41Speaker 1: about Washington. That's exactly why I like this one for
- 21:45Speaker 1: for the Commanders because look, a week ago before this
- 21:47Speaker 1: last game they played, they were kind of sleepwalking. They
- 21:50Speaker 1: were going nowhere fast, and then incomes Taylor Heiinek. He
- 21:53Speaker 1: injects them with life for the first time in a
- 21:55Speaker 1: while this season. They look like they could believe, they
- 21:57Speaker 1: believe they could win against the Packers, against Aaron Rodgers.
- 22:00Speaker 1: And what do they do? They went out and they
- 22:01Speaker 1: won the game. Heineck played pretty well. I mean he
- 22:04Speaker 1: you know, he played kind of like what you'd expect
- 22:06Speaker 1: in a nice touchdown pass that Terry McLaurin which you
- 22:07Speaker 1: saw right there. He also had a great completion to
- 22:10Speaker 1: him that ice the game. What really matters to me
- 22:12Speaker 1: more than anything in this game, though, is the fact
- 22:15Speaker 1: that I believe in the Commanders with Taylor Heineke because
- 22:17Speaker 1: they show a desire to play. And also, what are
- 22:20Speaker 1: we getting from Sam Ellinger? We don't really don't know, No,
- 22:22Speaker 1: we really don't. Nobody was great in the preseason. What
- 22:25Speaker 1: do you know about the Panthers and the Falcons? Here
- 22:27Speaker 1: with the line. According to Draft Kings four and a
- 22:30Speaker 1: half well Andrew, the Falcons have in multiple games this year,
- 22:34Speaker 1: abandoned the run, abandoned the past. Excuse me last week
- 22:37Speaker 1: Marcus Mariotta through thirteen passes. This is a game in
- 22:40Speaker 1: which they trailed twenty one and nothing at the start
- 22:42Speaker 1: of the second quarter. Okay, this is a problem against
- 22:44Speaker 1: this Panthers defense, which has played very well. Held Tom
- 22:47Speaker 1: Brading the Buccaneers at three points last week, and p
- 22:49Speaker 1: J Walker did throw two touchdowns in that game. I'm
- 22:51Speaker 1: not saying that I expect greatness from the former XFL star,
- 22:55Speaker 1: but I do kind of like what he did with
- 22:57Speaker 1: that offense last week. The Falcon is gonna be without
- 22:59Speaker 1: Casey Hayward. They're gonna be without a J. Trelt. That's
- 23:01Speaker 1: the skeleton crew in the back end of that defense.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Could be an opportunity for p J Walker to find
- 23:06Speaker 1: hook up with d J. Moore and some other guys
- 23:08Speaker 1: some more, maybe keep this offense and going in a
- 23:10Speaker 1: little bit more positive momentum going in their direction and
- 23:12Speaker 1: if any, if all else fails, they can count on
- 23:14Speaker 1: their defense against the Falcon's offense that has not surprised many. Walker, Mayfield,
- 23:19Speaker 1: Darnald All on the practice field today for Carolina, none
- 23:22Speaker 1: of them wearing the no contact jersey. It's gonna be
- 23:25Speaker 1: a p J. Walker yep at quarterback. Thank you, Nick Shook.
- 23:29Speaker 1: The Steelers of the Eagles preview of this one, James
- 23:33Speaker 1: Palmer straight ahead. So there are seven games in one
- 23:38Speaker 1: pm Eastern time coming up on Sunday. I think this
- 23:41Speaker 1: is my favorite honestly. Here it's the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles
- 23:46Speaker 1: coming off of bye and the Steelers who were two
- 23:50Speaker 1: and five. But hey, Kenny Pickett makes it fun. I
- 23:55Speaker 1: was a big Kenny Pickett fan. I thought he was
- 23:56Speaker 1: really good football player. He had a lot of he
- 23:58Speaker 1: did a lot of really good things. Um Man, he
- 24:02Speaker 1: had one of the best seasons. Uh, you know since
- 24:05Speaker 1: the guy named Marino over there a which is darn
- 24:08Speaker 1: impressive and um and so man. I thought he was
- 24:11Speaker 1: an accurate pastor. I thought he was a quick decision maker.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I thought he was a very good, you know, underrated
- 24:18Speaker 1: guy with with his legs. And they got a good offense.
- 24:21Speaker 1: They've got good players at all positions. It's gonna be
- 24:23Speaker 1: a big time challenge from from our perspective. And when
- 24:27Speaker 1: they have weapons like that, it's not about shutting them
- 24:30Speaker 1: down and stopping everything that they do. It's about prioritize
- 24:34Speaker 1: and when we get focused on what components of their offense.
- 24:39Speaker 1: James Palmer is gonna be there, Bucky Brooks back with
- 24:41Speaker 1: me as well, live on NFL Now. Not often does
- 24:45Speaker 1: does a coach have to get ready for a team
- 24:47Speaker 1: that is undefeated and coming off of bye. That one's fun.
- 24:52Speaker 1: What Nick Sirianni on the other side of things say today,
- 24:55Speaker 1: James about what they did with their bye week. Yeah,
- 24:59Speaker 1: and you one of the biggest things they wanted to
- 25:01Speaker 1: do is make sure they don't have a whole lot
- 25:02Speaker 1: of tells and what they do offensively. We know they
- 25:04Speaker 1: run their off fense, Bucky, a little bit differently than
- 25:06Speaker 1: everybody else in the league. And what we've seen is
- 25:08Speaker 1: an offense that protects the football. I mean they have
- 25:11Speaker 1: forced fourteen turnovers. As a defense, they've only given up
- 25:14Speaker 1: two giveaways and since nineteen forty the first team to
- 25:18Speaker 1: do that ever. Through their first six games, they're really
- 25:20Speaker 1: doing a great job of winning the turnover battle, which
- 25:22Speaker 1: is one of the biggest things that Nick Sirianni preaches
- 25:25Speaker 1: through his locker room and through that building. It is
- 25:27Speaker 1: making sure you're winning the turnover differential and making sure
- 25:30Speaker 1: you're having more explosive plays than the other team, and
- 25:33Speaker 1: this offense really wants to point out. Jane Snige, the
- 25:35Speaker 1: offensive coordinator, said it just during the bye was that
- 25:38Speaker 1: they haven't fumbled the football, and he said Miles Sanders
- 25:40Speaker 1: might have great vision. Miles Sanders is a really running
- 25:42Speaker 1: hard for us, but he also has great ball security.
- 25:44Speaker 1: And that goes through the rest of the running back room, Bucky.
- 25:46Speaker 1: It goes through what Jalen Hurts does carrying the football,
- 25:49Speaker 1: and what Mike Tomlin pointed out is extremely important and
- 25:51Speaker 1: situational football. The way Jalen Hurts makes decisions, the way
- 25:55Speaker 1: he runs the football, it allows them to not put
- 25:58Speaker 1: the ball in harm's way very often, and it makes
- 26:00Speaker 1: them a very difficult lure, difficult offense to go against. Yeah,
- 26:05Speaker 1: they are very very difficult, and I think what you
- 26:06Speaker 1: have to do is give Janden Hurts credit for understanding
- 26:09Speaker 1: that part of it. Everyone loves to talk about a
- 26:12Speaker 1: quarterback skill, meaning their physical arm talent, how they throw it,
- 26:15Speaker 1: how they run and all those things. I think the
- 26:17Speaker 1: best trace that Jalen Hurts brings is his leadership and
- 26:20Speaker 1: his overall understanding of how to win football games and
- 26:24Speaker 1: so when I look at those stats and the Eagles
- 26:25Speaker 1: aren't turning the ball over, that's not by happenstance. That
- 26:29Speaker 1: is something that has talked about. That's something that's discussed
- 26:32Speaker 1: and emphasize every day in practice, and it's reiterated in
- 26:35Speaker 1: the huddle during games. And so the Philadelphia Eagles are
- 26:39Speaker 1: a tough team to defeat because they don't give games
- 26:42Speaker 1: away like some of the teams that we're seeing in
- 26:44Speaker 1: the National Football League. So we can talk about their
- 26:46Speaker 1: exotic scheme, the unique way that they run the football,
- 26:49Speaker 1: and the way the defense is playing. But Vick Serrianni
- 26:52Speaker 1: and his coaches and the players have bought into this
- 26:55Speaker 1: thing of we win games because we refuse to give
- 26:58Speaker 1: them away. And as long as they do that, take
- 27:00Speaker 1: care of the ball and find a way to make
- 27:03Speaker 1: big plays and not give them up, this team was
- 27:05Speaker 1: gonna keep winning a ton of games and chalking out
- 27:07Speaker 1: dub So this is a really solid team. You don't
- 27:10Speaker 1: see many weaknesses. The Pittsburgh still has have their work
- 27:12Speaker 1: cut out for them. Yeah, and the offensive lines playing
- 27:14Speaker 1: well even with the injuries here. The Steelers would love
- 27:17Speaker 1: to get pressure on Jalen Hurts, but they're not getting
- 27:20Speaker 1: pressure on anyone. I know week one with t J.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Watt on the field, James, they terrorized Joe Burrow on
- 27:25Speaker 1: the Bengals. This number just just blew me away this morning.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Next year, powered by a WS they have the worst
- 27:32Speaker 1: the Steelers the worst pressure rate in football. Nobody gets
- 27:38Speaker 1: after the quarterback worse than the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yeah, we
- 27:43Speaker 1: all say that, you know, one guy doesn't make that
- 27:44Speaker 1: much of a difference, but when it's the reigning defensive
- 27:46Speaker 1: player of the year, and you mentioned getting after Joe Burrow,
- 27:49Speaker 1: you sack him seven times in that opener. You have
- 27:51Speaker 1: eight sacks total since then, and they didn't sack to
- 27:53Speaker 1: a Tonguel Biolo of this past Sunday. You're right, they
- 27:56Speaker 1: can't get after the quarterback, and Mike Tomlin has emphasized
- 27:59Speaker 1: that this week, just saying we have to find a
- 28:01Speaker 1: way to get pressure, and obviously that helps you force turnovers,
- 28:04Speaker 1: which we're talking about. If no Jalen Hurts is not
- 28:06Speaker 1: under pressure, there's a less chance of him turning the
- 28:09Speaker 1: football over. And you mentioned that bye week impacting this
- 28:12Speaker 1: Eagle's offensive line, where there was an injury to some
- 28:14Speaker 1: degree with every starter across that offensive line. This bye
- 28:18Speaker 1: week from talking to people in that building could not
- 28:20Speaker 1: have come at a better time and getting that group
- 28:23Speaker 1: back healthy as they protect Jalen Hurts. And the other
- 28:25Speaker 1: part Bucky that makes this extremely difficult is last season
- 28:28Speaker 1: when he became the starter, Jalen Hurts had the longest
- 28:31Speaker 1: time to throw of anybody in the NFL. He just
- 28:34Speaker 1: went back there and started looking around. Now, the quick
- 28:37Speaker 1: passing game has been extremely effective for the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Getting the football out of his hands quickly. That makes
- 28:42Speaker 1: it even tough run of pass rush. And it shows
- 28:45Speaker 1: you also that Jalen Hurts is making decisions quickly. It
- 28:47Speaker 1: appears pre snap as well. All right, time for one
- 28:52Speaker 1: more thing before we go. Sarah Walsh is going to
- 28:56Speaker 1: I'm so excited that JPP is coming back to the
- 28:59Speaker 1: Tampa Bay area. He's coming back with the Ravens and
- 29:01Speaker 1: he had this to say. I was there for years,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I did my job. Um here, I'm just gonna go
- 29:06Speaker 1: out and show them what they don't have. I love it.
- 29:10Speaker 1: We talked to JPP back when the Giants would come
- 29:12Speaker 1: to town and he sort of said the same thing.
- 29:14Speaker 1: But he brings the energy. He brings great quotes. He's missed.
- 29:17Speaker 1: We can't wait to see him on Thursday night. Just
- 29:19Speaker 1: do your job, Tom Pella, Sero. One more Thing, welcome
- 29:25Speaker 1: side for Steelers fans. T J. Watt on the field
- 29:28Speaker 1: going through individual drills, throwing aside sleds like the old
- 29:31Speaker 1: days during practice today he's coming out that partially torn.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Peck also had a knee scope. This game on Sunday
- 29:38Speaker 1: against the Eagles was always the target for what can
- 29:41Speaker 1: he do something, even if it's in a limited role.
- 29:44Speaker 1: We'll find out over the course of this week. Interesting, amazing.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Still they have the worst pressure rate in the NFL
- 29:49Speaker 1: without him. That is just mind blowing. Palmer One more
- 29:51Speaker 1: Thing hosted a Twitter space with my good buddy Mike
- 29:54Speaker 1: Garrett Folo and Eagles tight end Dallas Goddard last night
- 29:57Speaker 1: and found out that Goddard is an accomplished unicyclists. Not
- 30:00Speaker 1: sure if that's the term, but he said if the
- 30:02Speaker 1: Phillies do win the World Series and there's a parade,
- 30:04Speaker 1: he would like to ride his unicycle in it. Andrew said,
- 30:06Speaker 1: the toughest thing about riding a unicycle in a parade,
- 30:09Speaker 1: avoiding horse manure is a typicult thing on a unicycle.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Boom top that had you never considered the dangers of
- 30:18Speaker 1: riding a unicycle behind a police horse? Yeah right, I
- 30:22Speaker 1: can't top that. I can only give you this. The
- 30:25Speaker 1: Lions play the Dolphins this week. The Dolphins haven't beaten
- 30:28Speaker 1: the Lions since Week twelve of oh six, when that
- 30:31Speaker 1: guy scored a touchdown, first touchdown of the game from
- 30:34Speaker 1: John Kittney. You know that is Dan Campbell. Everybody and Campbell.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Dan Campbell scored a touchdown the last time the Dolphins
- 30:44Speaker 1: beat the Lions. And now he's head coach of the
- 30:47Speaker 1: Lions at what point used to be coach of the
- 30:49Speaker 1: Dolphins as well. And that's it. It's not as good
- 30:51Speaker 1: as a unicycle and and of course it. NFL Now
