- 0:35Speaker 1: Lindaull here at number thirty eight. Game three viewing party
- 0:39Speaker 1: tonight Nuggets and Clippers, plus NFL Draft coverage starts at
- 0:41Speaker 1: six o'clock right here on Altitude Sports Radio. Leggy, let's
- 0:45Speaker 1: just start at this spot. Right now, we are seeing
- 0:48Speaker 1: reports that Denver is making calls to go up. We
- 0:51Speaker 1: are seeing reports that Denver is getting calls to move back.
- 0:56Speaker 1: What do you know about the Broncos situation and what
- 1:00Speaker 1: people are saying when they call up George and John pateon.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Well, some people that are calling are guarding against the
- 1:09Speaker 2: idea that Pittsburgh will take a quarterback at twenty one
- 1:13Speaker 2: So that's the essence of the popularity of the Broncos
- 1:17Speaker 2: pick right now. As if if cam Ward is the
- 1:20Speaker 2: only quarterback off the board as the picks go to fourteen, fifteen, sixteen,
- 1:27Speaker 2: then the Broncos become a very popular spot for the
- 1:32Speaker 2: teams that need to get in front of Cleveland and
- 1:34Speaker 2: New York to get a quarterback coming out of the
- 1:39Speaker 2: first round or early in the second. So that's most
- 1:42Speaker 2: of the genesis of that. And you know, the Broncos
- 1:47Speaker 2: have to consider your basic three options, you know, stay put,
- 1:51Speaker 2: move up, or move back. Because of the structure of
- 1:56Speaker 2: the board this year, the twentieth pick is right on
- 2:00Speaker 2: the edge of having just one or two or three
- 2:04Speaker 2: first round players left on your board when your pick
- 2:08Speaker 2: rolls around, or maybe maybe zero first round grades when
- 2:13Speaker 2: your pick rolls around. So most of these calls are
- 2:16Speaker 2: to be prepared to do something when you're on the
- 2:20Speaker 2: clock that you're prepared and you have a structure of
- 2:23Speaker 2: what teams might be looking for or what you might
- 2:26Speaker 2: have to give up to make your move.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Jeff, if the Broncos were to move up, what player
- 2:32Speaker 1: do you believe they could be targeting.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I believe if one of the tight ends, one of
- 2:37Speaker 2: the top two tight ends moved down the board, which
- 2:40Speaker 2: is unexpected, frankly. But if somehow one of the two
- 2:43Speaker 2: top two tight ends got past Indianapolis, then I think
- 2:48Speaker 2: a move up is in the equation. Or if some
- 2:51Speaker 2: parallel universe where Ashton genty is on the board after ten,
- 2:57Speaker 2: I believe those are the kinds of players they would
- 3:01Speaker 2: move forward. But again, it's the thin first round, and
- 3:04Speaker 2: it's a very competitive world for those those first round
- 3:08Speaker 2: graded players.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Jeff, Let's say just just you know, I like to
- 3:13Speaker 3: do this. I need to know the value. I need
- 3:15Speaker 3: to know the cost of things. Let's say the old
- 3:18Speaker 3: rumored possibility of Denver going from twenty to thirteen trading
- 3:22Speaker 3: to thirteens of Dolphins Miami. Yes, so if they were to,
- 3:26Speaker 3: let's say that's the trade. What's that going to cost
- 3:29Speaker 3: them to go from twenty to thirteen just because Loveland's there?
- 3:33Speaker 2: An expensive trade and you know, you you know, it
- 3:37Speaker 2: would certainly only be made if you're targeting a very
- 3:41Speaker 2: specific player, because you probably have to give up a
- 3:45Speaker 2: at least one Day two pick from this year, and
- 3:48Speaker 2: that is the strength of this draft board. So you'd
- 3:51Speaker 2: be leaving you'd be leaving the strength of the draft
- 3:55Speaker 2: to get the one player you want. But that's that's
- 3:57Speaker 2: a position you're okay with it to get the guy
- 4:02Speaker 2: who wants. The issue is, again, because the first round
- 4:06Speaker 2: is thinner than most years, the teams that have those
- 4:09Speaker 2: tip picks believe they hold more values, so you may
- 4:13Speaker 2: have to give up a little more to get people
- 4:15Speaker 2: to make the deal.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Leggy, the amount of rumors that are kind of flying
- 4:19Speaker 1: right now and the various different insiders, does this suggest
- 4:25Speaker 1: that this is a top ten or a top part
- 4:27Speaker 1: of this draft board where there is just so little
- 4:30Speaker 1: consensus and teams have their individual favorites that maybe they're
- 4:36Speaker 1: going to be aggressive for rather than simply stay put
- 4:40Speaker 1: and take the best player available.
- 4:43Speaker 2: And that's all of the above date it's again you're
- 4:46Speaker 2: talking about a first round where there's just fewer players,
- 4:51Speaker 2: where teams are looking at the board and say, we
- 4:53Speaker 2: would take these guys at five, we would take these
- 4:56Speaker 2: guys at eight, we would take these guys at fifteen. Uh,
- 5:02Speaker 2: that list is shorter this year than it's been in
- 5:05Speaker 2: in decdays. Frankly, I've not seen a top heavy first
- 5:10Speaker 2: round like this in a very long time. And uh
- 5:14Speaker 2: so that people are looking at fewer names, so it
- 5:17Speaker 2: makes them want to be or at least position themselves
- 5:22Speaker 2: to be able to get the guys they do want.
- 5:25Speaker 2: And that's why you're seeing, you know, all of these
- 5:29Speaker 2: things come up because there is a lack of consensus
- 5:33Speaker 2: when it's not a quarterback heavy first round.
- 5:38Speaker 3: All right, Jeff, what what do you think happens?
- 5:42Speaker 1: What?
- 5:42Speaker 3: What do you think we get a lot of trades
- 5:44Speaker 3: in these first ten Your boy Adam Shifter, our guy
- 5:47Speaker 3: Adam Shifter tweeting out that everyone's kind of bracing for chaos.
- 5:51Speaker 3: I feel like we've heard this before, and then kind
- 5:53Speaker 3: of goes wow, what do you think are we gonna
- 5:55Speaker 3: actually get an active first ten picks tonight? Or you
- 5:58Speaker 3: think is there such a thing is going chalk? You've
- 6:02Speaker 3: told us in the past, people like who they like?
- 6:04Speaker 3: Would there even be a thing that could go chalk?
- 6:06Speaker 1: Like?
- 6:06Speaker 3: I could see twenty different scenarios playing out in those
- 6:09Speaker 3: first ten picks. How do you think this goes?
- 6:12Speaker 2: Well? I think usually it takes and it's gonna sound weird,
- 6:17Speaker 2: but it takes one deal to get made for the
- 6:19Speaker 2: dominoes to go because then everybody sees kind of what
- 6:23Speaker 2: the market is, and it's very hard in a draft
- 6:30Speaker 2: like this, it's very hard to convince your owner if
- 6:32Speaker 2: you're a GM, why did you trade out of the
- 6:35Speaker 2: prime spot to move down when we could have had
- 6:39Speaker 2: the prime spot. So that makes it more difficult to
- 6:44Speaker 2: make those deals than than we think, as we all
- 6:48Speaker 2: discuss it as when your roster and your job is
- 6:53Speaker 2: on the line, you have to explain to people why
- 6:55Speaker 2: you moved out of the top ten of a draft
- 7:00Speaker 2: in a year when it's not particularly strong at the
- 7:03Speaker 2: bottom of the round. So if you're flip flopping with
- 7:06Speaker 2: a team, if he's going from like eight to twenty three,
- 7:11Speaker 2: you're not helping yourself really, So it's gonna take more
- 7:16Speaker 2: I think, you know, we'll see how it unfolded, but
- 7:20Speaker 2: I think it will take more than the value charts
- 7:23Speaker 2: say to get eos done because of that, all.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Right, Ley, speaking of the prime spots, who gets Travis
- 7:31Speaker 1: Hunter tonight ultimately? And does Shador Sanders get drafted tonight?
- 7:39Speaker 2: I think he does. I think he does get drafted tonight.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And you know, frankly, it's not a strong quarterback class,
- 7:47Speaker 2: but for me, he's clearly number two in it. So
- 7:50Speaker 2: it's hard for me to believe it's a one quarterback
- 7:53Speaker 2: first round. And if Travis Hunter makes it past Cleveland,
- 7:58Speaker 2: you know, then I think they've done something wrong. But
- 8:01Speaker 2: I don't think they're gonna ask me.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm telling you, it feels like everyone is
- 8:05Speaker 3: saying on ESPN anyway, Leggy, that it's gonna be Jackson Dark.
- 8:08Speaker 3: People are feeling there's more momentum, like New Orleans likes
- 8:11Speaker 3: Jackson Dart better. Apparently the Giants like Jackson Dart better.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Do you really think do you think there's a possibility
- 8:19Speaker 3: that Dart is the second quarterback?
- 8:20Speaker 1: In actuality?
- 8:23Speaker 2: I see you know again, it's just my grade, So
- 8:27Speaker 2: I realize what people might think of that. But there's
- 8:31Speaker 2: a big gap between sur Sanders and Jackson Dark for me,
- 8:34Speaker 2: and I'm.
- 8:35Speaker 1: With you too.
- 8:36Speaker 3: I'm with you, Leggy, just to be clear, but.
- 8:38Speaker 2: With people I work with, and I think that's a
- 8:42Speaker 2: mistake and I think it's unfair to Jackson Dark frankly
- 8:45Speaker 2: to put him in that kind of situation. But again,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I don't think anyone's gonna ask me about that one.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Also, Jackson Dart looks like a villain from an eighties movie.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So Jeff Legwald, everybody, ESPN, Leggy's gonna have the stuff
- 9:00Speaker 1: all night long.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Now, we're gonna bugging when we can.
- 9:02Speaker 1: He'll be on tonight on Altitude Sports Radio, He'll be
- 9:05Speaker 1: on ESPN, he'll be covering all of this again. Raid
- 9:07Speaker 1: Jeff's Top one hundred. If you want to know, did
- 9:11Speaker 1: did the Broncos or did my favorite team whomever it
- 9:13Speaker 1: may be, did they get good value? Just judge whatever
- 9:17Speaker 1: the pick was against Legwald's Top one hundred. You'll get
- 9:21Speaker 1: the real scoop right there. Leggy, good work as always, man,
- 9:24Speaker 1: Thank you, Thanks that.
- 9:26Speaker 2: We'll say it
