- 0:01If we step back and look at our internal reactions for a moment,
- 0:06we can see that generally. If we are directly involved and
- 0:10active in a situation or it is something closely associated
- 0:15with us, we respond with much more concern than if we consider
- 0:20ourselves simply to be third-party Observers.
- 0:24If the situation is not meeting our expectations or desires this
- 0:28can lead to an uprush of anger, On the other hand, we find that
- 0:34we can observe a news report or a movie or television program
- 0:38with a sense of Detachment and we can be at ease even when the
- 0:43events portrayed may be terrible in their reality or their future
- 0:48effects. As long as we are not personally
- 0:51affected. The contrast of these two states
- 0:56of response, show us the power of Detachment in terms of
- 1:00gaining control over the impulse to anger.
- 1:03The question then arises as to how we can Marshal a poison of
- 1:08Detachment. When we are directly affected.
- 1:11This comes about through the separation of the witness
- 1:14Consciousness. The observing purusa from the
- 1:18external active nature prakruti, the more we practice this
- 1:23separation and inner Detachment. The more we are able to avoid
- 1:27anger and maintain peace in the midst of whatever we are
- 1:32experiencing. SRI aurobindo notes, quote.
- 1:38It is really simply the recurrence of an old habit of
- 1:40the nature. Look at it and see how trifling
- 1:44is the occasion of the rising of this anger.
- 1:47And it's Outburst. It becomes more and more
- 1:50causeless and the absurdity of such movements itself.
- 1:56It would not really be difficult to get rid of it.
- 1:59If when it comes, you looked at it, calmly for it is perfectly
- 2:04possible to stand back in one part of the being observing, in
- 2:08a detached Equanimity, even while the anger Rises on the
- 2:12surface, as if it were, someone else in your being who had the
- 2:16anger, The difficulty is that you get alarmed and upset and
- 2:23that makes it easier for the thing to get hold of your mind,
- 2:26which it should not do. It is indeed when the quietude
- 2:30comes down from above or comes out from the psychic that the
- 2:35vital becomes full of Peace were of kindness and good.
- 2:39Will it is therefore, that the inner psychic quietude first.
- 2:45And after the peace from above must occupy, the whole being
- 2:51Otherwise, such things as anger in the vital can be controlled,
- 2:55but it is difficult to get rid of them all together without
- 2:59this occupation. By the inner quietude and higher
- 3:02piece. That is the right thing that
- 3:06must happen. Always when anger or anything
- 3:08else Rises the psychic reply must become habitual pointing
- 3:14out that anger is neither right nor helpful and then the being
- 3:18must draw back from these out. Outward things and take it stand
- 3:22and its inner self detach from all these things and people.
- 3:28It is this Detachment that is the first thing that must be
- 3:31gained by the Sadiq. He must cease to live in these
- 3:35outward things and live in his inner being the more that is
- 3:40done. The more there is a release and
- 3:42peacefulness afterwards. When one is secure in this inner
- 3:47being the right thing to do the right way to deal with men, and
- 3:52things will begin to come and quote reference SRI aurobindo in
- 3:57the They're living within the yoga approach to psychological
- 4:02health and growth. Disturbances of the vital anger
