Transcript
- 0:00Hey sis, welcome to Girl Date the Good Guy podcast, the space where we strip
- 0:04away the noise and get real about toxic cycles, healing, and stepping into the love God has for us.
- 0:10I'm your host, Emily Jordan, and I've been where you are, heartbroken,
- 0:14confused, and chasing love that didn't come,
- 0:23Hey sis, today I want to go deeper into something every woman needs to hear.
- 0:29How does God intend for you to be treated in a healthy, godly relationship?
- 0:34Because let's be real, when we don't know God's standard, we end up settling for less than his best.
- 0:41We have covered a little bit of this already, but I wanna cover some of it again
- 0:45and then I wanna go deeper.
- 0:47So here's five points and then we will cover red flags versus green flags.
- 0:55One, God's design for love. In Ephesians 5.25 says, Husbands,
- 1:01love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. That's the model.
- 1:07Christ's love was sacrificial, gentle, and selfless.
- 1:10If a man claims to love you, but it drains you, belittles you,
- 1:14or causes fear, that's not Christ-like love.
- 1:18Two, honor and value. First Peter 3.7 tells husbands to treat their wives with
- 1:24respect as equal heirs in Christ.
- 1:27That means a godly man values your voice, your calling, and your dreams.
- 1:32He doesn't silence you. He celebrates you.
- 1:36Three, protection, not harm.
- 1:40In Colossians 3.19 says, do not be harsh with them.
- 1:45Sis, God never designed you to endure harshness, whether that's words that cut,
- 1:50manipulation that confuses, or actions that harm.
- 1:54A good man provides covering, safety, and stability.
- 1:59Four, partnership, not possession.
- 2:03Genesis 2 shows us, women were created as a helper suitable for man,
- 2:09equal and complimentary.
- 2:11You're not created to be someone's possession or trophy.
- 2:14You're designed to walk side-by-side in purpose.
- 2:195. Encouragement in your calling. Proverbs 31 celebrates a thriving, capable, godly woman.
- 2:27A good man doesn't dim your light. He cheers you on, prays with you,
- 2:31and supports the gifts God placed in you.
- 2:35Now, I want to go through a list of red flags versus green flags, all right?
- 2:42So the red flags, which is not God's design, are he belittles you,
- 2:49mocks your dreams, or ignores your voice.
- 2:52He creates fear, instability, or confusion instead of grace.
- 2:58He uses control, manipulation, or harshness.
- 3:03He pulls you away from God rather than closer. and he makes love conditional
- 3:09based on performance or convenience.
- 3:13All right, that's the red flags. Now let's go into the green flags, which is God's design.
- 3:20He treats you with consistent respect and honor. He protects your heart,
- 3:25your body, and your spirit.
- 3:27He celebrates your calling and encourages your growth.
- 3:31He loves with patience, kindness, and gentleness.
- 3:34He prays with you, leads with humility, and reflects Christ's heart.
- 3:41So sis, here is the truth. In a healthy, godly relationship,
- 3:45you should feel safe, cherished, heard, honored, and uplifted,
- 3:51not confused, and not diminished.
- 3:54God's standard is not too high. It's holy.
- 3:57And when you know what he intends, you can better discern who's walking in his will and who's not.
- 4:04So, don't settle for someone who treats you less than God's daughter.
- 4:09Date the man who reflects Christ's heart.
- 4:12Date the man who honors your worth. In short, girl, date the good guy.
- 4:20Thank you for tuning in to Girl Date the Good Guy. Until next time,
- 4:24keep your heart soft, your standards high, and your faith even higher.
