- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with on our radio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Almost Famous podcast. Today Ashley and
- 0:09Speaker 2: I are together. It's always a gift. Finally, you're just
- 0:15Speaker 2: so busy.
- 0:16Speaker 3: You had a trip too?
- 0:18Speaker 2: I did, and yeah, this past week, some of our
- 0:21Speaker 2: Almost Famous crew went to Tahoe for a second annual
- 0:25Speaker 2: pickleball event. Ashley and myself were not there this year because,
- 0:30Speaker 2: as Ashley mentioned, I hosted thirty six guys at the
- 0:34Speaker 2: Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri, including Jared her husband.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Had a wonderful time.
- 0:41Speaker 2: It was awesome. And then a bunch of my other friends,
- 0:44Speaker 2: some from Bachelor Nation, a lot that were not from
- 0:48Speaker 2: Bachelor Nation. We did have Tanner there and Wells and
- 0:52Speaker 2: Dean and Chris Harrison was there, a really good crew.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Joe Grocery Store. Joe was supposed to be joining us,
- 1:00Speaker 2: but obviously, if you've been listening to our headlines, he
- 1:03Speaker 2: just recently had brain surgery so he could not make it.
- 1:06Speaker 2: But I have a feeling he'll be back for our
- 1:08Speaker 2: trip next year. Now, this all kind of fell on
- 1:13Speaker 2: top of a difficult time for Ashley and I to
- 1:16Speaker 2: make this trip. It's a great trip, but because Ashley
- 1:19Speaker 2: and I weren't there, some others did get to join.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It did look like from social media, Ashley, it's weird
- 1:26Speaker 2: to see almost famous, I know, without us, it just
- 1:30Speaker 2: seems odd at this point. I guess that always has.
- 1:35Speaker 4: So obviously we have Trista and Bob as kind of
- 1:38Speaker 4: like our co host. You know, they do the OG
- 1:42Speaker 4: podcast and it's all in our feed, so.
- 1:44Speaker 3: We get it. They led the way.
- 1:48Speaker 4: But it is always funny to be like they al say,
- 1:50Speaker 4: this podcast presenting not bet at Ashley, but it's all good.
- 1:53Speaker 4: There's some drama that happened. It felt like a Housewives
- 1:56Speaker 4: experience over there. If you listen to one of the
- 1:59Speaker 4: podcasts that was recorded with Joan, Trista and Courtney.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I got us before we jump into this. Ashley, You're right,
- 2:08Speaker 2: it was a pretty intense conversation at times. I've always
- 2:12Speaker 2: been the believer that you know, when you have an
- 2:14Speaker 2: issue with somebody, confrontation, usually not on a recording, but
- 2:20Speaker 2: one on one confrontation is the best way to at
- 2:22Speaker 2: least confront it.
- 2:23Speaker 3: The only kind of confrontation I've known now for eleven
- 2:26Speaker 3: years now.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it does, Honestly, it does feel normal for me.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I can remember back in the day when you know,
- 2:33Speaker 2: Colton was like, Hey, nobody reached out to me when
- 2:36Speaker 2: I came out from Bachelor Nation. I was like, that's
- 2:38Speaker 2: not true. And so we had him on and we
- 2:40Speaker 2: talked about it because I don't know if he answers
- 2:42Speaker 2: my call, and we had a great conversation kind of
- 2:47Speaker 2: like got you know, got clarity. I don't know if
- 2:51Speaker 2: that's healthy or not, but it does seem like in
- 2:53Speaker 2: today's age, when you are more in the public eye,
- 2:58Speaker 2: these things happen on either TV or on podcasts, and
- 3:02Speaker 2: that's what I want to talk to you about. You
- 3:04Speaker 2: have Yeah, our producer right in our conversation with Mel
- 3:09Speaker 2: Owns is a great example of this. Yeah, and again Mel,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I don't know Mel. You don't know Mel. We would
- 3:16Speaker 2: have never been able to reach out to Mel, and
- 3:18Speaker 2: we probably could have messaged him. There was ways, but
- 3:21Speaker 2: it did feel like hashing out so that the public
- 3:24Speaker 2: is also aware of where we stand. Maybe it was
- 3:28Speaker 2: like the best of options. I don't know. It's a
- 3:31Speaker 2: very like confusing confrontational arrangement that we have in today's world.
- 3:38Speaker 2: But actually, since the moment I've known you, you have
- 3:40Speaker 2: never loved confrontation. You don't. I mean, you don't typically
- 3:44Speaker 2: get in fights with others. You're very easy going, you're
- 3:49Speaker 2: very understanding, you like to see where the other person's
- 3:52Speaker 2: coming from. You're curious, and so you don't have these
- 3:56Speaker 2: like strong stances on a lot of things. You're just
- 3:58Speaker 2: more open and curious to sitch situations, which kind of
- 4:01Speaker 2: allows you to not have these like direct moments of confrontation.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And also, it's very rare if I've ever heard you
- 4:09Speaker 2: speak ill about somebody outside of like some very unique
- 4:13Speaker 2: situations that you and I both agreed on where we're like,
- 4:15Speaker 2: can we just talk about this? But you've been a
- 4:18Speaker 2: part of something we don't talk about a lot on
- 4:20Speaker 2: the show The Housewives. Now the Housewives since I've watched it,
- 4:23Speaker 2: at least, has been all about confrontation in the wildest scenarios,
- 4:28Speaker 2: talking about the weirdest things. Have you personally gotten more
- 4:35Speaker 2: comfortable sitting in the room or listening to other people
- 4:40Speaker 2: hash it out?
- 4:43Speaker 3: The short answer is yes.
- 4:45Speaker 4: What I have come to realize is that Housewives, to
- 4:50Speaker 4: some extent, the true reality of it all is really
- 4:55Speaker 4: figuring out how you deal with conflict and work your
- 4:58Speaker 4: way through it, and I've been thinking recently, it's really funny.
- 5:03Speaker 3: When I was in this sounds because sounds so stupid.
- 5:07Speaker 3: When I was in fourth.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Grade, I love a good childhood trauma story.
- 5:11Speaker 3: The teachers had to choose.
- 5:15Speaker 4: I guess it was like ten kids out of like
- 5:16Speaker 4: the group of like one hundred and twenty students to
- 5:20Speaker 4: be pure mediators, and I was one of them chosen.
- 5:24Speaker 4: And I'm finding myself to have always had the quality
- 5:29Speaker 4: in me to like kind of sit and listen to
- 5:33Speaker 4: both sides and be empathetic towards both sides and like
- 5:36Speaker 4: probably lean towards more one side. But apparently I can
- 5:42Speaker 4: kind of like calmly walk I can kind of calmly
- 5:46Speaker 4: walk through conflict more so when it's not my own,
- 5:49Speaker 4: obviously when it's my own, but then I think when
- 5:52Speaker 4: it's my own, I also just tried to like put
- 5:55Speaker 4: it in perspective.
- 5:57Speaker 3: I'm like, how much of a big deal is this?
- 5:59Speaker 2: So just listen and we're going to get into the
- 6:01Speaker 2: details of the Joan, Trista and Courtney conversation that did
- 6:04Speaker 2: happen at the almost famous trip in Tahoe. Listening to this,
- 6:08Speaker 2: it was a hard listen for me. Personally, I don't
- 6:12Speaker 2: mind conflict as much. I think in business or in
- 6:16Speaker 2: life or coming through this world. There's a lot of
- 6:20Speaker 2: things said and a lot of criticisms given, and I
- 6:23Speaker 2: don't necessarily mind standing up for what I believe I
- 6:27Speaker 2: intentionally did not do or did do. Yeah, But I
- 6:30Speaker 2: also just I don't love it. And this was a
- 6:33Speaker 2: hard listen for me. It took me three different listening
- 6:36Speaker 2: segments to get through about ten minutes each. So listening
- 6:40Speaker 2: to this back for you, were you uncomfortable? We know
- 6:45Speaker 2: all three of these people, we personally enjoy all three
- 6:48Speaker 2: of these people individually. I didn't love listening to this,
- 6:54Speaker 2: quite honest. I mean, I guess like the people will
- 6:57Speaker 2: listen and should listen because there's stuff there and that's
- 7:01Speaker 2: what people love to do. But I don't like.
- 7:04Speaker 4: It because I've known these people for so many years
- 7:07Speaker 4: and I do feel a connection to each of them.
- 7:09Speaker 4: I mean more so Trista and Courtney, because Joan is
- 7:12Speaker 4: like relatively new to this whole thing.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I listened to it.
- 7:17Speaker 4: The reason that I felt like nerved listening to it
- 7:21Speaker 4: is because I knew we were going to come on
- 7:23Speaker 4: here and talk about it. Now if if we weren't
- 7:26Speaker 4: going to then I would probably Well, this is kind
- 7:31Speaker 4: of how I took it. I listened to everyone, and
- 7:34Speaker 4: everyone had valid things to say, and then everybody also
- 7:37Speaker 4: I felt like a lot of the drama is so
- 7:42Speaker 4: outdated and it is still lingering to them, and I
- 7:47Speaker 4: can't say that I if somebody does me wrong, in
- 7:52Speaker 4: which a lot of people have not, okay, it's very
- 7:55Speaker 4: much not a common thing in my life.
- 7:57Speaker 3: I just try not to get there. Ever.
- 8:00Speaker 4: I try not to involve myself in conflict, right, but
- 8:03Speaker 4: the rare occasion, and we could like say bad Lands
- 8:06Speaker 4: for example.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Actually it's wild that when you think of like somebody
- 8:11Speaker 2: doing you wrong, you go.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Back to the bast I need you to think about
- 8:14Speaker 4: when the last time that something dramatic happened to you personally,
- 8:18Speaker 4: where you were in a dramatic conflict that is like
- 8:22Speaker 4: a dramatic conflict, and then like Bachelor and Paradise three
- 8:25Speaker 4: also like kind of it's a less dramatic conflict.
- 8:28Speaker 3: It wasn't like a pinnacle point as if ballads.
- 8:31Speaker 4: But think about it, then almost the last time you
- 8:33Speaker 4: were in a dramatic conflict, it had to have been
- 8:35Speaker 4: on the show.
- 8:36Speaker 2: No, no, not all, Oh, okay, was it business. Yeah,
- 8:40Speaker 2: it's a lot of business, it's some personal like, uh
- 8:45Speaker 2: you know, I think, uh, well, it's interesting for me
- 8:49Speaker 2: that you we'd have to do a deep dive. But
- 8:53Speaker 2: I think when relations friendships get closer, I think I'm
- 8:56Speaker 2: more easily hurt than you because of being an only child.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I think I've always seen my friendships as closer or
- 9:04Speaker 2: more loyal than maybe what others perceive or think, or
- 9:09Speaker 2: maybe they just have thicker skin. And so there's I
- 9:15Speaker 2: would say it's not uncommon for me to call up
- 9:18Speaker 2: somebody and say, hey, this is what I heard you
- 9:22Speaker 2: said about something in my life.
- 9:25Speaker 3: He's a housewife.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I'll never go up to anyone and be like, so
- 9:31Speaker 4: I heard, because I'm just like, I'll just call my
- 9:34Speaker 4: sister invent and then I'm done.
- 9:37Speaker 2: See that's good.
- 9:39Speaker 4: It's a sister thing. I do think it comes down
- 9:41Speaker 4: to you being an oled child.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's not uncommon for me to have moments
- 9:46Speaker 2: of at least intense conversations. But I think it's always
- 9:51Speaker 2: the hope. I would never have those conversations. I would
- 9:54Speaker 2: never even confront them if the hope wasn't to get
- 9:57Speaker 2: some sort of clarity forgiveness, understanding good, good things coming
- 10:03Speaker 2: out of it, but it happens quite often.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Okay, so interesting.
- 10:08Speaker 4: I feel like I never ever have arguments with friends,
- 10:11Speaker 4: and I'm like, why is that?
- 10:14Speaker 3: Is it?
- 10:14Speaker 4: Because my sister and I will just vent behind their
- 10:16Speaker 4: back and we share most of them our friends and.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Then we're just like, Okay, it's over.
- 10:21Speaker 4: I feel like there was one mild one where one
- 10:25Speaker 4: of our friends was like, hey, I feel like we
- 10:27Speaker 4: are not connecting lately, and my sister and I had
- 10:30Speaker 4: reasons as to why we were not.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Did you communicate those reasons back to her when.
- 10:35Speaker 4: She confronted us with it because we were like not
- 10:39Speaker 4: being as warm as usual, and then we can you know,
- 10:43Speaker 4: we did explain it and then she took it well.
- 10:47Speaker 3: But and it needed to happen.
- 10:49Speaker 4: It did need to happen, and I think my sister
- 10:51Speaker 4: and I were just kept we kept saying like, we're like,
- 10:52Speaker 4: we probably need to tell her. We probably because this
- 10:54Speaker 4: is definitely affecting our friendship. But yeah, I mean like
- 10:59Speaker 4: that's I was still like three years ago.
- 11:01Speaker 2: I do think if I look back on the more
- 11:04Speaker 2: interpersonal conflicts I've had outside of just feeling like hurt
- 11:10Speaker 2: or in business, feeling like somebody wronged me or didn't support,
- 11:15Speaker 2: you know, back me in something. I have some examples
- 11:20Speaker 2: of conflicts with people and the Bachelor world. I could
- 11:26Speaker 2: name a few.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I can name a few for you, one being the
- 11:31Speaker 3: guy that trashed your house.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Yeah, goodness, gracious, that was wild. Right, Yeah, you're right.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I kind of forgot about that. I've like pushed that
- 11:40Speaker 2: to the box that I don't think about much anymore.
- 11:42Speaker 2: But yeah, heck yeah, and I did confront that.
- 11:45Speaker 3: That's worthy of confronting.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that got wild. But I think in the Bachelor World,
- 11:52Speaker 2: and I put myself in this category, at least initially
- 11:55Speaker 2: coming off of it, we're big personalities. We got fairly
- 11:59Speaker 2: big egos. Coming off the show. We probably are developing
- 12:03Speaker 2: some narcissistic like tendencies and behaviors because we're trying to
- 12:07Speaker 2: catch the next best thing and we think we're the
- 12:08Speaker 2: best for it. I do think over time, I've done
- 12:13Speaker 2: a lot of work personally, and I know you have
- 12:15Speaker 2: as well too, And I don't know where it'd be
- 12:17Speaker 2: more of a friendship conversation for you and I now
- 12:19Speaker 2: that you're back on TV again, But to push those
- 12:24Speaker 2: things down and to try to see myself in a
- 12:28Speaker 2: way that is real and not you know, some bachelor guy.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I think marriage has helped with that. I think being
- 12:35Speaker 2: a dad is one hundred percent help with that.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Like the parenthood thing definitely helps with it. To me,
- 12:40Speaker 4: it's it's definitely perspective. It's like it doesn't matter, it's
- 12:43Speaker 4: all it's done.
- 12:44Speaker 2: It's hard to feel that cool when you're getting pooped on,
- 12:47Speaker 2: I think is the takeaway. But yeah, Bachelor World, I've
- 12:50Speaker 2: had some moments of issue, especially early on, and there's
- 12:55Speaker 2: probably still some lingering issue. The truth is, I heard
- 12:59Speaker 2: a quot at once. If I don't have it, if
- 13:03Speaker 2: if I have a conflict with somebody, it's worth picking
- 13:06Speaker 2: up the phone and calling them and confronting it. If
- 13:08Speaker 2: I don't have their phone number, it's probably not worth.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I don't know them well enough to have a conflict
- 13:13Speaker 2: with them. And I think that's probably a fair truthful statement,
- 13:17Speaker 2: like I might not know why this person did what
- 13:20Speaker 2: they did. I might be assuming a lot of things,
- 13:22Speaker 2: and so it's hard for me to get too angry.
- 13:35Speaker 4: This is also not for me to say like, oh,
- 13:38Speaker 4: I'm like so above conflicts like I just brush everything over.
- 13:42Speaker 4: I'm just like I think a venor a to other
- 13:44Speaker 4: people like Jared and Lauren have to hear it. We're
- 13:49Speaker 4: like Jared, oh my god, I can't believe that he
- 13:53Speaker 4: did this, and like like this and that, like what
- 13:57Speaker 4: is he thinking?
- 13:58Speaker 3: Right? But then I will never actually say it to
- 14:01Speaker 3: the person.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you and I have done it with each other.
- 14:05Speaker 2: You can move on from getting it off your chest
- 14:09Speaker 2: and venting to anybody. I venting never makes me feel better.
- 14:14Speaker 2: It does, and honestly, most of the time makes me
- 14:16Speaker 2: feel worse because.
- 14:17Speaker 3: You feel like you're talking bad.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Well, yeah, talking bad is something that like I definitely
- 14:22Speaker 2: don't want to do. But I also feel like I spiral.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So I think I have this issue in my life
- 14:30Speaker 2: where I feel like the outsider. That's like my big
- 14:32Speaker 2: insecurity that I've written a book about. And so when
- 14:35Speaker 2: I'm communicating to somebody why I'm in pain, it makes
- 14:39Speaker 2: me feel more like the outsider, and then I just
- 14:41Speaker 2: get sad. Yeah, So I don't vent and heal.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Just different wirings.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Just different wirings, both work speaking to different wirings. As
- 14:50Speaker 2: I said, the group went to Tahoe, it did seem
- 14:53Speaker 2: like overall, it was a great trip. We have producer
- 14:55Speaker 2: Heather kind of sitting on the line to help us
- 14:57Speaker 2: break this all down. But overall the feedback this was
- 15:00Speaker 2: a really fun trip. There was boating, there was good dinners,
- 15:03Speaker 2: there was drinks flowing. But in the midst of this
- 15:07Speaker 2: something I was so unaware of. Actually, and maybe you
- 15:10Speaker 2: were aware of this.
- 15:11Speaker 3: No, I wasn't.
- 15:12Speaker 2: But Joan, Trista and Courtney sit down. We've been following
- 15:17Speaker 2: the updates with Courtney recently. She is and she'll let
- 15:20Speaker 2: us know during this podcast. She's going through a lot.
- 15:23Speaker 2: This is a very difficult season for her. She makes
- 15:27Speaker 2: the statement in the show that she probably should have
- 15:29Speaker 2: canceled the trip. I would argue Ashley that she should
- 15:35Speaker 2: not have canceled this trip. That the best thing to
- 15:37Speaker 2: do when you're in one of these scenarios is to
- 15:40Speaker 2: surround yourself and try to have a good time, even
- 15:42Speaker 2: if you really can't, just try to have a good time.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Let's also just let you guys know that Courtney has
- 15:48Speaker 4: recorded a podcast on her own about everything that happened
- 15:51Speaker 4: with her soon to be ex husband. He was basically
- 15:54Speaker 4: unfaithful for seven years.
- 15:57Speaker 2: That's wild, I mean, very painful.
- 15:59Speaker 4: And she sort of was starting to know this at
- 16:03Speaker 4: the time that she was filming the HGTV show with Joan. Yeah,
- 16:08Speaker 4: so she talks about how she and Joan got to
- 16:11Speaker 4: be close, almost like a mother daughter dynamic because Courtney
- 16:16Speaker 4: also lost her mom seven years ago. So first in
- 16:20Speaker 4: this podcast, you're gonna hear between Joan and Courtney how
- 16:27Speaker 4: Courtney hurt Joan's feelings a little bit really on one occasion,
- 16:31Speaker 4: and I was like, see, in this case, I would
- 16:34Speaker 4: have just been like, ah, I'm never bringing that up again,
- 16:37Speaker 4: Like I wish he texted me back, but it wouldn't
- 16:38Speaker 4: have like hurt me deeply.
- 16:39Speaker 2: See I'm opposite.
- 16:40Speaker 3: See you were felt hurt.
- 16:42Speaker 4: So what happened was Courtney and Joan had planned to
- 16:45Speaker 4: hang out on their off day together. Courtney didn't respond
- 16:48Speaker 4: to two texts from Joan being like, what's the plan
- 16:51Speaker 4: for the day, and she definitely blew her off, and
- 16:56Speaker 4: Courtney was like, I really just needed like time alone
- 16:59Speaker 4: to dec and pressed.
- 17:00Speaker 3: I felt overstimulated.
- 17:02Speaker 4: And then Jones was like, okay, but why couldn't you
- 17:05Speaker 4: just text me back? And I was like, yeah, I
- 17:09Speaker 4: mean I see both sides very clearly, But if I
- 17:12Speaker 4: were Joan in this situation, I've been like, unless somebody
- 17:15Speaker 4: else started it with me, like not to bring this
- 17:20Speaker 4: into myself, but but like during my season of Housewives,
- 17:24Speaker 4: Kelsey said something to the press and I was like that, wait,
- 17:26Speaker 4: hold a second, that is absolutely not true. And then
- 17:30Speaker 4: I will respond. But I won't be the one that says,
- 17:34Speaker 4: like Joan did, why did you not respond to my text?
- 17:38Speaker 3: That hurt my feelings.
- 17:40Speaker 2: There's a good chance, at least for me personally, I
- 17:42Speaker 2: would have forgotten, not that I wanted to, I just
- 17:44Speaker 2: would have forgotten why I was mad in the first place.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Just I don't know if I'm just have a short
- 17:50Speaker 2: memory or what. But I do think Ashley I saw
- 17:56Speaker 2: Joan's side, and again I think Corney's great, She's one
- 17:58Speaker 2: of my I loved talking to her. But I think
- 18:01Speaker 2: I would take it very personally. I would feel like
- 18:03Speaker 2: the outsider more than ever. I'd feel very sensitive. I
- 18:06Speaker 2: would be hurt. I would wonder why she ignored me.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Why you know, she made plans with other friends. Not
- 18:12Speaker 2: a big deal, but they really had to talk this through.
- 18:16Speaker 2: I think the underlying thing that was really brought up,
- 18:19Speaker 2: but a lot of production, you know, excuse. When you
- 18:23Speaker 2: film a show with somebody, it's very hard to keep
- 18:28Speaker 2: a solid relationship with them when you're competing against them. Now,
- 18:33Speaker 2: there's unique examples, and there's some unique personality types that
- 18:37Speaker 2: can do it, but on a show like that one Heather,
- 18:40Speaker 2: our producer, brought up as she was hosting this conversation,
- 18:44Speaker 2: We felt it the whole time we watched this series
- 18:47Speaker 2: that they wanted more drama than I think these contestants
- 18:51Speaker 2: were able to give, and as a result, they started
- 18:54Speaker 2: poking and prodding, which always ends in deep hurt. And
- 18:59Speaker 2: with Joe and Courtney, I think that's where we could
- 19:03Speaker 2: close this conversation was they were hurt by each other,
- 19:07Speaker 2: never really confronted it. It didn't feel like they disliked
- 19:11Speaker 2: each other or that there was like this deep wounded pain. Yeah,
- 19:15Speaker 2: they just had to talk it out, which I think
- 19:17Speaker 2: they could have easily done on the phone.
- 19:19Speaker 3: They just had to talk it out.
- 19:20Speaker 4: There was a lot of show involved there, a lot
- 19:22Speaker 4: with Courtney being I feel like, such an introvert and
- 19:26Speaker 4: really needing her alone time and the show not allowing
- 19:29Speaker 4: her to have her alone time, and she got into
- 19:31Speaker 4: a sticky situation where like sometimes like the need to
- 19:35Speaker 4: be alone kind of comes across as offensive to somebody else.
- 19:39Speaker 4: But like, also, if you're gonna be like that, you
- 19:41Speaker 4: have to be over communicative.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I find that with Housewives. I try my best to like.
- 19:47Speaker 4: Literally tell everybody everything that I've said about them, Do
- 19:50Speaker 4: you know what I mean?
- 19:51Speaker 3: Like yeah, like honest to a fault.
- 19:54Speaker 2: It's like the opposite of the Housewives show.
- 19:57Speaker 4: If you just keep telling people what you're telling that
- 20:00Speaker 4: and I'm saying like this on like on air, like
- 20:02Speaker 4: on camera, I'd be like, Hi, yes I did this, Hi,
- 20:05Speaker 4: Yes I did that. Like we're they you know, we're
- 20:07Speaker 4: not like allowed to talk. We were allowed to talk,
- 20:10Speaker 4: but we're not like allowed to be like so I said,
- 20:13Speaker 4: because they can't take our phones like they do on
- 20:15Speaker 4: The Bachelor. It's a different kind of environment where you
- 20:17Speaker 4: really have to say things on camera. And the more
- 20:20Speaker 4: like you're weirdly honest, the better it's gonna go.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Oh. I think that's a great I think that's a
- 20:26Speaker 2: great lesson for any reality television is the more you're
- 20:29Speaker 2: like overly honest, yeah, the less conflict you're gonna have
- 20:34Speaker 2: because there's gonna be others there that are not as honest,
- 20:37Speaker 2: which does lead us Ashley again. Everybody should go listen
- 20:41Speaker 2: to this conversation. It's out on the almost famous thread.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Ashley and I are just here to kind of break
- 20:46Speaker 2: it down a little bit. We're not going to get
- 20:47Speaker 2: into the details because you need to listen to it.
- 20:49Speaker 2: This is just our takem from hearing the conversation. All
- 20:53Speaker 2: of a sudden, it switches gears. Joan and Courtney kind
- 20:56Speaker 2: of come to an understanding. They're very lovey to each other, like, hey,
- 20:58Speaker 2: let's be friends and all that stuff. They say nice
- 21:02Speaker 2: things about each other.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I'm like, why is Trista here?
- 21:05Speaker 2: That was my question. Oh my goodness, it blows up.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Trista and Courtney have this feud Ashley that has lasted, goodness,
- 21:15Speaker 2: twenty years.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Heather, I need to bring you in for this because
- 21:29Speaker 4: I felt like this conflict came out of nowhere, like
- 21:33Speaker 4: all of a sudden, it was like.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Beep, Oh, it's my turn to con like to complain
- 21:37Speaker 3: about you. What was the source?
- 21:40Speaker 1: Like?
- 21:41Speaker 3: What brought this up?
- 21:42Speaker 4: You said this on a podcast because the podcast was
- 21:45Speaker 4: extremely outdated when you were promoting your book in twenty thirteen, fourteen,
- 21:52Speaker 4: you brought this up.
- 21:54Speaker 5: I knew that this conflict existed. I'd heard about the tweets.
- 21:59Speaker 4: This is that's how deep you go, girl, like you
- 22:02Speaker 4: are twelve years in research.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Well, I heard from a source.
- 22:09Speaker 3: But this this.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Was not like I knew this. I knew this going
- 22:14Speaker 5: in that there was some issues and and I didn't
- 22:20Speaker 5: know anybody was going to be referencing podcasts and emails
- 22:24Speaker 5: from twenty fourteen.
- 22:27Speaker 3: That was a surprise.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I mean, Courtney and Trista both had the receipts of
- 22:32Speaker 2: these emails, this back and forth Ashley.
- 22:34Speaker 4: And an email, like an email she pulled up from
- 22:37Speaker 4: a decade plus ago, right, was that that email was.
- 22:40Speaker 3: From a four a decade ago.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it was titled Olive Branch.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:47Speaker 2: I when the conversation started, knowing both of them, I
- 22:51Speaker 2: was like, this is going to just be like, like,
- 22:54Speaker 2: why are we recording this? I think we've justified why
- 22:58Speaker 2: recordings happened in the midst of confrontation when it comes
- 23:01Speaker 2: to people in public figures. But I originally thought this
- 23:05Speaker 2: is going to be one of those like hey, I
- 23:07Speaker 2: love you and oh I love you too, and this
- 23:09Speaker 2: has been such a fun weekend and we're good, let's
- 23:12Speaker 2: move forward. It was not that it went down into
- 23:17Speaker 2: the depths of hurt and pain and things said as
- 23:22Speaker 2: you As you mentioned Ashley, it was a podcast that
- 23:26Speaker 2: was listened to in preparation for this conversation from like
- 23:30Speaker 2: twelve years ago, and in fact, I guess as we
- 23:36Speaker 2: close and we kind of pass our listeners off to
- 23:38Speaker 2: go listen to this conversation. My takeaway from it was
- 23:42Speaker 2: that there was not a resolution.
- 23:46Speaker 3: No, not at all, No, definitely not at all. That Heather,
- 23:50Speaker 3: you just you cut that thing off.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Yeah, he said, you made like an awkward comment about like,
- 23:58Speaker 4: so it's great that we aired this out and.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Hopefully we can move on goodbye. And it was just like, wow,
- 24:03Speaker 3: there's so much tension left in the room.
- 24:06Speaker 4: There was there's a cop just a preview for you
- 24:09Speaker 4: guys listening to this point who are listening to this
- 24:11Speaker 4: podcast but haven't listened to that one yet.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Like there was a C word that was one time
- 24:17Speaker 3: used to.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Describe one of these girls and the other one laughed, look,
- 24:23Speaker 4: I'm teasing right now, so you have to like listen.
- 24:25Speaker 5: That was shocking when it was said, I was not
- 24:28Speaker 5: expecting that. And the other thing that did you guys
- 24:31Speaker 5: hear when I was like, would you mind uncrossing your arms?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that was my question for you, Heather, as the
- 24:37Speaker 2: host of this Obviously you didn't get hired on to
- 24:40Speaker 2: this show, to the host, but you found yourself hosting
- 24:42Speaker 2: a lot of episodes at this point. That felt like
- 24:48Speaker 2: a fairly aggressive move by you to ask them to
- 24:53Speaker 2: uncross their arms, Like that would be very I would
- 24:56Speaker 2: I mean, I guess when I was in person with somebody,
- 24:58Speaker 2: I would have to really feel like that arm crossing.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Their body language was so bad that in order to
- 25:06Speaker 2: have this conversation I would have to ask them to relax.
- 25:09Speaker 2: So you felt something at that moment that you said, hey, please,
- 25:13Speaker 2: And I don't know who you're saying it to.
- 25:14Speaker 3: I was saying it.
- 25:15Speaker 5: To Courtney, okay, sitting next to me, and in doing
- 25:21Speaker 5: hundreds of on camera auditions, people cross their arms when
- 25:26Speaker 5: they are uncomfortable, and that body language on camera reads
- 25:32Speaker 5: as and we weren't rolling cameras on this unfortunately or
- 25:36Speaker 5: fortunately however you want to look at it, But that
- 25:39Speaker 5: kind of body language reads as I don't want to
- 25:42Speaker 5: be here, which very apparent right.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Or protecting herself, protecting herself.
- 25:48Speaker 5: It's but either way, when you watch somebody on camera,
- 25:51Speaker 5: or you're looking at somebody across the way who's sitting
- 25:53Speaker 5: like this, it is it's not open and receptive to
- 25:59Speaker 5: what happening. So I kindly asked, and I will say
- 26:02Speaker 5: that that lasted for maybe three seconds and then the
- 26:05Speaker 5: arms crossed again.
- 26:06Speaker 3: So I just let it go.
- 26:07Speaker 5: But I was trying to initiate openness, and I didn't
- 26:13Speaker 5: think that we were going to end in a huge
- 26:16Speaker 5: hug or anything. I didn't think it was going to
- 26:18Speaker 5: end the way that it did, where I was just like, oh, okay,
- 26:21Speaker 5: we hugged to end this.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Courty is saying I'm uncomfortable, like I don't like being
- 26:26Speaker 4: in this situation.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Everybody was uncomfortable. I'll say that everybody.
- 26:30Speaker 2: I was uncomfortable. I'm thousands of miles away from there.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I guess the word to describe it, Heather was it
- 26:36Speaker 2: was It was a good move. It was bold, and
- 26:39Speaker 2: that you confronted body language in the midst of a
- 26:44Speaker 2: conversation that was confronting pain, and I think that was
- 26:48Speaker 2: a very bold move. I do think it was the
- 26:49Speaker 2: right move, but it felt like it would have been
- 26:53Speaker 2: uncomfortable for you to even bring it up. We have
- 26:56Speaker 2: a lot going on there. Trista mentions that she is
- 27:00Speaker 2: about to have a panic attack. Courtney is shaking from
- 27:02Speaker 2: the inside out. It did not feel like a room
- 27:06Speaker 2: that was cultivating a hug and so listeners, I would
- 27:11Speaker 2: just go listen to it. Yeah, you know, for no
- 27:14Speaker 2: other reason. I really don't know why you'd listen to it,
- 27:18Speaker 2: but other than just be intrigued.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Exactly, I'm not on anyone's side right now. I think
- 27:23Speaker 3: this is no.
- 27:26Speaker 4: They there's just like a lot of pass between them.
- 27:29Speaker 4: Apparently it's all outdated, which you know doesn't honestly, it's
- 27:34Speaker 4: like you can move on or you could be like
- 27:37Speaker 4: me and like remember forever. So no, no shade to
- 27:40Speaker 4: them prolonging this that happened over a decade ago. There's
- 27:44Speaker 4: something about mean tweets coming from Trista. So now we
- 27:48Speaker 4: know that we'll never invite the two of them again.
- 27:51Speaker 2: No, I'm going to oh now we're going to fix it.
- 27:54Speaker 3: We're going we don't need to fix it. This is
- 27:56Speaker 3: what I this is.
- 27:58Speaker 4: This is my ultimate takeaway, is that they're never going
- 28:01Speaker 4: to be on the same way length They just don't drive.
- 28:04Speaker 4: There are people like this in this world, and I
- 28:06Speaker 4: have to deal with them on a very regular basis.
- 28:09Speaker 3: And sometimes they just shouldn't go in the same room together.
- 28:13Speaker 2: You're right, Ashley at this point is our resident expert
- 28:16Speaker 2: on confrontation, conflict, and relational dynamics. Go listen to the
- 28:21Speaker 2: conversation that existed in Tahoe. Send us your feedback either
- 28:26Speaker 2: on our social media or through email. We do have
- 28:28Speaker 2: a hotline now you can call into. You can share
- 28:31Speaker 2: with us all everything you think. I want to be clear,
- 28:35Speaker 2: Ashley and myself were not there, but this was a
- 28:37Speaker 2: conversation that I know when you listen to it, sounds
- 28:42Speaker 2: like nobody wanted to be there and having this, but
- 28:45Speaker 2: they from our sources, including our producer, this was an
- 28:51Speaker 2: agreed upon episode to have. We did not force them
- 28:56Speaker 2: into a room to have to battle each other. This
- 29:00Speaker 2: was something that all of them were willing to do
- 29:03Speaker 2: able to do. Did it come out in the best way?
- 29:07Speaker 2: I don't know. You'll have to judge for yourself, but
- 29:10Speaker 2: go listen to it. Bob and Trista will also be
- 29:12Speaker 2: doing a breakdown here from one of the people involved.
- 29:15Speaker 2: If you go listen to that on our almost famous
- 29:18Speaker 2: thread as well. Hey, we got more episodes coming your Way.
- 29:22Speaker 2: This week, Ashley and myself will be together doing a
- 29:24Speaker 2: lot of them. Will also continue to break down the
- 29:27Speaker 2: Ultimate Girls Trip, Real Housewives Travel. I forget the name
- 29:32Speaker 2: of it.
- 29:32Speaker 3: You're just having the ultimate time recaping.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's something, it's something. We'll be back soon. Until
- 29:40Speaker 2: next time, I've been Ben, I've been Ashley.
