- 0:45So guys, welcome back the importance of routine for
- 0:47autism. A lot of people will always ask
- 0:49about this now. Autism is a neurological
- 0:52condition as we all know and it has certain characteristics that
- 0:56come with it. Now, one of the main kind of
- 0:58traits of characteristics all the autism, is repetitive
- 1:00behavior or a tendency to to have affinity for routine.
- 1:06Why? It's a really big question and
- 1:08I'm going to answer it right now just after I tell you.
- 1:10If you want to download my free Autism Wife Axe PDF book, you
- 1:13can do autismhacks.net. Right now it's completely free.
- 1:17Link is down below. So autism routines, like, this
- 1:20is the thing about routine, OK? When you are a routine,
- 1:23something that you do positively and you know that you're going
- 1:25to do the same thing every day. So it could be getting up,
- 1:27having conflicts, sitting on your sofa and watching SpongeBob
- 1:30SquarePants until 11:00 AM and then you go out and do a
- 1:33workout, right? If you did that every single
- 1:35day, that is your routine. Now, the reason autistic people
- 1:37gravitate towards us on why it's so important for just people to
- 1:40have these routines is because autism comes with an inability
- 1:43to regulate emotions around changes or surprise kind of
- 1:47impromptu events. So say you have a sudden change
- 1:51in plans, Let's get throwing autistic person off for the rest
- 1:53of the day. However, if you knew what was
- 1:54going to happen, if you could predict, if you have
- 1:56predictability in your day, you can relax in that.
- 1:59So routine offers predictability.
- 2:01Autistic people love predictability and love to have
- 2:04that predictability along a a longer period of time over a
- 2:08space of, you know, their entire life.
- 2:10If they could, if they could predict the routine for
- 2:13everything, they would. You'll see all sorts of people
- 2:15over plan for things because they want to predict the
- 2:17routine. They want to predict what's
- 2:18going to happen next. Am I predicting what happens
- 2:20next? You have calmness, You have the
- 2:22ability to relax into something which is very important.
- 2:25So routine for autistic person is kind of like a cozy, comfy
- 2:28blanket of comfortable. I know what's going to happen
- 2:31next. This is why it's important and
- 2:33it should never be made fun of. It should never be something
- 2:35that's disqualified. It should be something that is
- 2:37validated and accepted because that's what to see people enjoy
- 2:42in life. Yes, we have to deviate from
- 2:44those plans every now and then, which can become potentially
- 2:46stressful for autistic individuals.
- 2:47But I think the important to routine is healthy, and it's
- 2:50good for autism. If you have anything to add, pop
- 2:52in the comment. I read every single one.
- 2:53All right, guys, peace.
