- 0:00Hey, Dan, how is this Gonzaga team different than the one you played
- 0:03in March? Well, I mean, you know, they've lost. Both
- 0:10teams have obviously we're not the same teams. I mean we've both lost some
- 0:15great players. Uh, you know for them, you know, to me,
- 0:21Tommy one of the best players in the country, Trouser, you know,
- 0:24one of the best wings. Uh. And you know, and I
- 0:28think a first round pick, you know. And then obviously with everything that
- 0:35we we've lost, you know, with our group, uh there there,
- 0:41I think what you know, what stands out obviously in them are who we
- 0:44we know how good he is. Dickman, you know, we know how
- 0:48good he is. But they're they're four and five. Yeah, they're there
- 0:53there. Their front corns is really impressive. I mean it's deep, really
- 0:59talented. Uh you know, g they go four deep. Uh and it's
- 1:06gonna be just a real real challenge. But I think they they have the
- 1:10deepest and I think their best overall front court the country. Because of the
- 1:12death man, how uh have stuffed the long practice in the last few days
- 1:23and imagine would you expect him to u, you know, amp up his
- 1:26minutes a little bit tomorrow night. I lost you there in the beginning of
- 1:34that, is that Dave? Yeah, oh can you hear me? Yeah,
- 1:38I can hear you that. I'm sorry, Yeah, no, just
- 1:41Steph. How's he been looking in practice? And yeah, I guess the
- 1:45last stuff would be, uh amp up his his minutes a little bit tomorrow.
- 1:51Yeah, I think, you know, he's definitely available for more and
- 1:57and he's got more reps in practice, he got more game reps. Uh.
- 2:02There's obviously elements where he's really gonna help us. I mean he's uh,
- 2:12you know, specifically defensively and and and a guy that could playoff script
- 2:16offensively and create offense for us, uh, off the script and stuff that
- 2:23we do. I think really well, So yeah, I think he's he's
- 2:25available to give us more, you know, but just like Donovan right now,
- 2:31it's it's just, you know, it's a young guy that's missed time
- 2:34that is just as shoss as he's gonna be then. Uh, you know,
- 2:49now that you've you've made this trip, uh, you know, it's
- 2:52often been talked about perhaps Gonzaga joining the Big East someday. That may not
- 2:57may not be something that you want to talk about specific but the idea of
- 3:00maybe a league rival on the other coast three thousand miles away. Is that
- 3:06something that you think would be workable for for the Big East? Yeah,
- 3:12I think, Sally, I mean, for the most part, the way
- 3:15that we you know, the way that we travel in our league, You've
- 3:22got that you've got schools that are really committed to basketball in terms of the
- 3:25resources that we invest that that have made make the trip you know, comfortable.
- 3:35If we could get a program of Gondaga Caliba to come into the Big
- 3:38East and and and make you know, obviously we could really use another big
- 3:46time program to strengthen the league and TV contracts and everything that kind of goes
- 3:52into it. Uh we we just suck it up. We would uh yeah.
- 4:00I mean it's the short to Stephan Shorter trips for us, but it
- 4:05would certainly be uh be worth it just for the basketball boost that it would
- 4:13give, you know, to to these you know, to our conference,
- 4:20and do you expect you know, obviously coming off a pretty good game the
- 4:26other night coincidentally in his hometown, but I mean Jalen kind of seems like
- 4:31he's kind of uh, you know, established himself as maybe in that sort
- 4:35of fun nine. Yeah, I think he definitely, you know, it
- 4:44is growing and maturing and developing. And just like Jayden Ross you know and
- 4:50Solo and staff, you guys are you are continuing to get better? I
- 4:55think, uh, you know, you know, just the light switch goes
- 5:01on, it clicks, you know, young players become playable at different you
- 5:06know, obviously on different timelines. And I think what we we you know,
- 5:15we really believe in his talent. We believe in Jay Ross's talent.
- 5:19We want them to continue to trust us to uh to help them, uh,
- 5:25you know, develop into the type of players that they came here to
- 5:27develop into. Uh. I certainly liked to go staff in particular. And
- 5:34I think some of the games that h you know, the Kansas games on
- 5:41the road, it's like, you know, you need the you need the
- 5:44starters, you know, to get you off to a good start in some
- 5:46of these games, you know, so you are comfortable playing them. It's
- 5:53get down at Kansas the way we did. It's tough to get a young
- 5:59guy that's kind of in that cringe area trying to pull the trigger on kind
- 6:06of getting him in there. But we want to play nine our best teams.
- 6:14For me over my career had played nine even ten, So trust me,
- 6:21Yeah, we want to get Jase stew We want to try to get
- 6:26Jay Wilson. There By, Roger and listen to your third game gets the
- 6:34top ten opponent, which is unprecedented for the program during the non confrace regular
- 6:41season. Did your purposely want to really just kind of amp up the schedule
- 6:46this year and put the team a little bit further Yeah, I just think
- 6:53these opportunities were weren't afforded to us, you know, and until we took
- 6:59the program, a lot of these opportunities were We're put together like during last
- 7:08season, like early in the season, December, January, uh, postseason,
- 7:15like the you know, the with those three bigger ones Kansas, Carolina,
- 7:21uh and this one here. So these are the touch of games that
- 7:26the best teams in the country are playing. You know. Right now we
- 7:29have our program in a place where we look like one of the top teams
- 7:34when you are you get these type of games. You know, I know
- 7:40that it's frustrating for fans that uh, you know that that these games aren't
- 7:46being played, uh, you know on campus. I think this is a
- 7:51one off in terms of uh being an outlier year where we didn't get any
- 7:59of these games at home, uh, you know, which which sucks for
- 8:03our fans, but it's been good for our brand overall. And it's a
- 8:09one off. There won't be any more years where we don't get one or
- 8:13more of these in dampoint at the Xcel. Thank you got Adam and then
- 8:20Dan, Dan? How are we doing, buddy bags? What's up?
- 8:26I'm doing all right? Man? You know you have this like trio big
- 8:31games, Kansas, North Carolina, Gonzaga. If you are able to come
- 8:35out of it two and one, uh, you know what would that mean
- 8:39to the program going into the Big East and uh? You know, did
- 8:41you guys kind of set you know, a goal of of going at least
- 8:46two and one, if not three and oh in these games? Yeah,
- 8:50I mean I think we looked at them all collectively. You know, eighteen
- 8:54months ago when you put together this uh this non conference and you were open
- 9:00to play Indiana, Texas, Carolina, Kansas and Daga. You know,
- 9:05it's it's beyond those, you know, those three. So it's like you
- 9:11know that just that that grouping this year with the big non conference games,
- 9:16it's it's just been really exciting matchups. And I don't know that, you
- 9:22know, I think with's where we're out of the program. We're just looking
- 9:24at these games as like we're playing the we're playing we're playing three or or
- 9:33more of the best teams in the country, none of which are at home.
- 9:37They're all neutral or road. It's just a great way to test yourself
- 9:43in both the Big East Conference and and then these types of matchups will pay
- 9:50big dividends in March when when we're you know, when you're only playing the
- 9:56best teams and we'll have a lot of experience having played like the best teams
- 10:03that college basketball can offer. Thanks back to Dave and then I'm him any
- 10:11house, Okay, what's up? Yeah, you've had some you've had some
- 10:20success against them, Pard, what's what makes them difficult guard? And what
- 10:24are you gonna do to keep him in check? Again? And and e
- 10:26K what is what kind of what kind of special problems that he presents?
- 10:33Yeah, you know themhar just you know the speed, you know, the
- 10:37speed with the ball, the ability just to break down your defense and transition
- 10:43in the ball screen game in isolation situations. There's kind of really a great
- 10:52set for how they play offense. They Cantaga plays with great pace with a
- 10:58heavy emphasis in the ball scream game. So you know, we know how
- 11:03tough it is to play against Ryan H. We a lot of respects for
- 11:07him and in an e K I think, uh, you know, just
- 11:11a physicality, a real a real technician, you know, tremendous touch,
- 11:20high i Q high physicality. You really got to bring it, you know,
- 11:24because he's very very physical phys go on the glasses. Physical and screening.
- 11:30It's physical and post ups. You know, he's uh an older player
- 11:39with a ton of experience. You know, they really get him the ball
- 11:43and uh and get him opportunities. So just that their front court openall though
- 11:48with Watson UH and e K. That's uh, it's good to four and
- 11:52five as you see
