- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Maximill Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by jingag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Lua and thanks so much for being here Wednesday, August, Thirteenth Jaguars have the day off before they have a what Liam Cohen called a scrimmage practice tomorrow.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: So they're gonna be getting after it.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Have not decided yet whether or not they will have starters playing this weekend in New Orleans against the Saints.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: But right now we're gonna take a look at some back of the Jaguars roster competitions.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go through out the roster and I'm going to kind of offer my thoughts on where some different positions are at at the back of the roster.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: Most of the top of the roster is pretty much set.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't think you have any real questions in the Jaguar starting lineup right now.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Quite honestly, I don't.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: You look at the offensive line.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's locked in.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: You look at receiver.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's locked in.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: You look at running back.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you could say Travis ETN or Tank Biggs be maybe some of y'all like me.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: Think Basel Tutton should be getting just as much if not more work than those guys.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: But you kind of know that you have three at the top and then Lee Quint Allen is probably someone who will be a pass down type of guy early on.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think that tight end, it's pretty locked in with Britain's strange as your top tight end.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, quarterback obviously, then you look at the defensive front.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Devon Hamilton's your nose tackle, Eric Armstrong said if he gets healthy, will certainly be your other defensive tackle right now.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's Tyler Lacy.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: Your defensive end, starters are locked in.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Two deep is locked in.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: Foil, Luke, and Devon Lloyd's starters at
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: Um, linebacker.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: Excuse me.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, you see Rob Dula, Dennis Gardeck.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: I guess that's one area where you could say maybe there's a competition.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, at the top of the roster, you see Rob Dula Dennis Gardeck for like your Sam, but that's not even a starting position in my mind.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Really nickel has replaced the Sam linebacker in NFL starting lineups.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Tyson Campbell Jordan Lewis.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: I guess you could say there's a battle between Jarion and Travis Hunter on the outside right now while Buster Brown is down.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray and Drew Winger locked in in my opinion.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the depth chart does say Eric Murray or Darnell Savage and Drew Winger or Antonio Johnson, but I think it's been pretty clear who the starters are there.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: So that again leads us to the back of the roster.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to dive into it.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: Also, check out jenjag.com slash shop pick up some new dooval gear.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: So, back of the roster, what is intriguing to me?
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: Back of the offensive line, I think is pretty intriguing.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there's seven players locked in.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think that there would be eight players locked in.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: had Cole Van Lannan not sustained an injury that's going to keep him out for their remainder of camp.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know if he's going to be on the active roster when they cut down to fifty three because he might be placed on the reserve slash populist or something else, right?
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: So looking at the offensive line again, I think you have your five starters.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: You have Wyatt Mylem.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: You have Tuma Doga.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think they are locked in.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: Who else is going to have an advantage trying to make this roster?
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: How many offensive linemen are they going to keep?
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Because with McCary, Mylim and Adoga, you have a lot of versatility there.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: You really do.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: And even as our Cleveland has played tackle in his career, Walker Little has played guard at times.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: So like there's a lot of versatility here.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Adoga can play guard tackle.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Mylim should be able to play guard tackle.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: McCary can play every single position.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: is Jonah Monheim, who was a draft pick by this regime, a lock.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's probably gonna make the roster.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a very good developmental center who they don't want to risk losing.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody who they really like, they like his athleticism.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: He did not perform well at guard.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: In my opinion, on Saturday night against the Steelers, but then they put him in at center late and he looked a lot better.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: So I think he'll be in.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_00]: Those are
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: eight guys.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: Nine of you include Colvin Lannon where I think that that's pretty locked up because of Colvin Lannon's injury.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: And you look at the depth chart.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Luke Fortner is ahead of Jonah Monheim.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: So that's something to keep in mind.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I think Luke Fortner is definitely on the roster bubble.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think Fred Johnson.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have him making the team right now, even though he was somebody who the Jaguar is brought in to compete and push and I just don't think that that's been the case with Fred Johnson.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's been really undisciplined when it comes to fall starts.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen that consistently and I know the Jaguar's coaching staff can't stand that.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: You've got Javan Foster who was a fourth round pick last year, some other undrafted guys.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_00]: Those are basically the people competing for roster spots here.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: Sal Wormley, Ricky Lee, who's from Jacksonville, Tremaine, Anchorome.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see anybody.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see Ricky Lee, Sal Wormley, Tremaine, Anchorome, Javon Foster, making the team.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a long shot for sure.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: So again, I think that there's pretty much like eight guys locked in.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: If you included Cole Van Lannon, that would be nine.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that he's more than likely probably a reserved slash published candidate to start the season, which would keep him out the first four weeks.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I'm out with the offensive line.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think safety is fascinating.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: Goodness gracious, because we talked about this lot.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they have too high quality, like, plus starting safeties.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: But they do have a lot of capable safeties.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray, Andrew Wingard, on the team.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Rantzall is dealing with a little bit of an injury.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's weak to weak, hopefully he can get back before the end of the preseason.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: It'd be cool if he was able to play in a preseason game.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: You have Savage, Antonio Johnson, Daniel Thomas, Rayon Lane.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: You also have Cameron Sillman Craig.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's not going to make the team.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: But Rayon Lane and Caleb Rantzall were both draft picks.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: You have to assume that they're healthy that they're on the team.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: And Rayon Lane is a great special team's player.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: He's proven that and practice.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's proven that throughout his college career.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: He went and did it in the game as well against the Steelers.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Daniel Thomas is a great special team's player as well.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm feeling like he's going to be an odd man out, but even with Daniel Thomas not making the team and I love Daniel Thomas.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: I would hate to see that.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: You have Murray-Wingard Savage, Johnson, Ransal Lane.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: That's six safeties.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Are you gonna keep six safeties?
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: And a savage has versatility to play nickel to play safety.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: Antonio Johnson's a great special teams player.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what you do here.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: I just can't see keeping six safeties.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's gonna be five.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Do you cut Darnell?
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: Do you cut Antonio?
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you drafted two safeties for a reason.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you're going to try to stash Ray on Lane.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's a great special teams player.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's a confusing one for me.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: Back of the roster is very confusing at safety for me.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: Just an interesting position in general.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Their whole plan at safety was, I mean, I think if you sign Eric Murray and you get Caleb Ransson here and he's able to kind of take over early on in his rookie year, that's a good plan.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: I would have liked to see them pursue a higher end veteran safety.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: I've talked about that a lot.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's just me.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: So, back to the roster at Safety, definitely fascinating.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be some name recognition that gets cut.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: At Sam Linebacker, as we mentioned, right now you have your syrup, dule, or Dennis Gardeck as the starters.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_00]: The only other candidate there really is Jaila McCloud.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: The Sam here is really an edge off-ball linebacker hybrid type of position.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: You see Rob Dola played really, really well against the Steelers.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: Dennis Gardeck has not gotten that game action yet.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: J.L.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: McCloud is dealing with an injury.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: So J.L.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: McCloud was a rookie draft pick, you know, maybe he gets put on the reserve slash published, and you have, you see Rob Dula and Dennis Gardek are able to make the team.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: And then you see her maybe reverts to the practice squad or something when McCloud gets healthy.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how that'll play out, but really this is an interesting spot.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think Gardek
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: When he gets fully healthy, that spot is his to start the season.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then how does it kind of play out with a bull and McCloud is really my question?
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're going to keep three guys there.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll keep two.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: Cornerback.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: You've got Tyson Campbell, who is day-to-day right now, but I don't think he's at risk of not being ready for the start of the season.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Lewis, Jarian Jones, Travis Hunter, those guys are all obviously on the team that's four.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: A Monterey Buster Brown would obviously be on the team as well if he was healthy.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: He's missing all of training camp.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: He might be a reserved slash published guy to start the season so that puts some questions around the corner back spot.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think Christian Brasswell, I would put on the roster right now the way he's been playing.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Jabarmuhamed as a nickel.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be interesting.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: Zechariah McPherson has made a lot of plays, but he's a little bit older for a back of the roster type of guy, but I mean, if he can get the job done for you.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, John Drake Prince is competing.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody was a draft big last year, very athletic player.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm really looking at like
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: Again, if Monterey Brown is healthy, then you have five that are locked in, and then you probably keep one more, which would be Christian Brasswell.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: But if Monterey Brown isn't healthy to start this season, then who else is making it besides Brasswell?
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: That's my question.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: You've got the Ontario Prince, Stubbarmunham, and Zechariah, McPherson, Danica, Slotter, Aiden White.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: Lately, Jabar Muhammad has come on really strong.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: McPherson has been pretty consistent throughout camp, making plays.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Danico slaughter has made some plays throughout camp as well.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: The Entry Prince probably has more upside because of his athleticism than some of those other guys, but he hasn't played as consistently.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: You'll look at... wider silver.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: How many do they keep?
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like there's five guys locked in right now.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Not the, not the burger chain.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Five wide receivers locked in.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Jr., Diamy Brown, Joshua Cephas.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then there's a lot of other guys who have made a lot of plays and are very interesting.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: I know I've said interesting a lot in this show.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: I apologize.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: But that's where we're at.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I do think that this is a very, well, change the word to intriguing, right?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Back of the roster.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Trent and Irwin, and Austin Tramwell both have a lot of experience in the league.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: Trent and Irwin has the most out of all these guys competing for the back.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: Do you keep five you keep six?
- 11:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm leaning towards five, but six is the more common number.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: You have Dorian Singer, who's a young, undriveder free agent out of Utah, smaller, athletic, quick twitch, gets open well, can catch and run.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: You saw that against the Steelers.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: I like his game a lot.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: I like Eli Penkel.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: He's big.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's physically fast.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a lot of energy out of Duke.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: The one comment we've heard from Liam Cohen about him is that, you know, he is working hard.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: They like the work he's doing, but he wants to see more fluidity out of him as a receiver.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen camp campers, a big body.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: He's not the fastest guy out there, but can definitely make some big time contested catches, present a big target for a quarterback.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Darius Lassler has made plays here and there, but hasn't stood out a ton.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: Chandler Brayboy is a burner.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's a fast guy.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's had a couple drops.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: You don't like to see, but he's done some nice things on special teams and showed out at times.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: Really showing off his wheels.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's a lot of guys competing for, I think, one spot.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Recephus got to be on this team.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, Parker Washington got to be on this team.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: You have your top three and B.T.J.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Diami, Travis.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's why I'm at with the receivers.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: And finally, we can look at Edge.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: I know like, David McLeod and his card deck, like pseudo Edge, off ball line backers, but so I have four players locked in with Josh Hines, Alan Traybomb, Walker, to one, Samuel, Agba, couple guys to keep an eye on Danny Striggow, really balled out during
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: The preseason game, he's a high effort, high energy type of guy, not the best athlete, but he has power, he has effort, strain, all that stuff that they're looking for and he can make plays.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: BJ Green has made plays as well.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: Both of these guys made plays in the game and have made plays in practice.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: So those are the two I'm keeping an eye on to potentially make this roster at edge at the back end.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Miles Cole is going to make it.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Ethan Downs is going to make it.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be looking at Danny Striggow as the most likely, but BJ Green is competitive and athletic and big and physical as well.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: So that'll do it here.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content here, please like and subscribe.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
