- 0:00When you let go of some of that grasping around how things need to
- 0:05be or have to be the way things want to be as they desire to
- 0:10be, will come into being.
- 0:27Hello and welcome to Remember Why You Are Here,
- 0:30a podcast for seekers and sensitives where you can relax, receive,
- 0:34reconnect to your own self and remember the most important thing of all:
- 0:39why you are here. I'm Asia Suler, author,
- 0:43teacher earth intuitive.
- 0:45And in this episode we're going to talk about surviving soul forging
- 0:50times.
- 0:51We'll discuss what exactly a soul forging time is,
- 0:55why it's important for us,
- 0:57how we're living through one right now on earth and
- 1:03how to survive it and not only survive it but thrive
- 1:07through having experienced it.
- 1:11So this episode feels very dear and important to me right now in my
- 1:16life.
- 1:17And I think it's when we're all feeling in this moment now here on
- 1:22earth.
- 1:23It first came through for me when I was living through
- 1:28and surviving Hurricane Helene here in the mountains in Western North Carolina
- 1:32this past fall.
- 1:34And I had this kind of front row seat through that experience
- 1:39of what it is like to live through an epic natural
- 1:43disaster.
- 1:45What it is like to be disconnected
- 1:49from all the things that normally make your life possible.
- 1:54Things like running water, electricity, cell service,
- 1:58gas roads going in and out of where I live.
- 2:03Every major highway except for one was destroyed or closed.
- 2:08And so I had this really pretty intense,
- 2:12powerful, soul forging experience.
- 2:15And what I have found moving through this is it's given me
- 2:20this fodder,
- 2:22this roadmap and this way to talk about these experiences
- 2:27that can really help as we move collectively through what
- 2:32I see to be a soul forging time.
- 2:35And this is something I talked about a lot in my reading for 2024
- 2:41when I did my intuitive reading for this year that this was going to be a year
- 2:45of soul forging on a collective level.
- 2:49And so I think this information and this roadmap is really important at this
- 2:52time.
- 2:53And the cool thing about it is as intense as it is to be
- 2:57forged,
- 2:59it also means that we are coming into our power in a completely new way,
- 3:04that you are reconnecting to yourself, your mission,
- 3:08your soul in a way you probably have not experienced yet on this planet.
- 3:12And that's a good thing.
- 3:15So what do I mean when I talk about soul forging? Well,
- 3:20I'm not a blacksmith,
- 3:21but my understanding of forging is that there is an intense alchemy that
- 3:26happens when you forge something.
- 3:29Think of anytime you've ever seen someone work metal,
- 3:32whether in person or if you've watched a video,
- 3:36they're taking this piece of metal, heating it up,
- 3:40shaping it, rolling it, pressing it, changing its shape completely.
- 3:45Its essential self remains the same,
- 3:48and yet it's being forged into something different,
- 3:52being forged into decoration,
- 3:56being forged into weaponry, being forged into utensil,
- 4:01being forged into something other than it knew itself to
- 4:06be. So in this way,
- 4:10forging time, a soul forging time is moving into the fire.
- 4:14It's like going directly into the fire and the heat of an experience in
- 4:19order to be transformed and changed.
- 4:22Sometimes we choose soul forging times on purpose,
- 4:26but what I found more often is that we don't choose them.
- 4:31They tend to just happen to us.
- 4:34So you might be in a moment right now where you are in a soul forging
- 4:39time, but if not,
- 4:41I'm sure you can remember one times where it felt like you were being
- 4:46cooked where everything that held your life together in a certain way,
- 4:51your whole structure of reality started to shift and change beneath
- 4:56you. This could be a loss of a relationship.
- 4:59This could be a shift in your health, your wellbeing,
- 5:03loss of a home, radical change in any way,
- 5:07shape or capacity, birth of a child.
- 5:10All of these are soul forging experiences that bring
- 5:15our essential element like the metal of who we are to the surface.
- 5:21And I think that there is an essential importance to this kind of soul
- 5:25forging that we come here to this planet planning
- 5:30for and knowing that we are going to experience these times and that these times
- 5:35are important because they help to reshape us.
- 5:39They help to mold us once again back into the shape of our
- 5:43destiny to realize the shape of our destiny once more.
- 5:47So let's talk a little bit about how to know if you are in the midst of a soul
- 5:52forging time right now in your life.
- 5:55And I prefer this term over something like a very hard
- 5:59time or a dark night of the soul.
- 6:03And it might be all those things too,
- 6:05but it's helpful to have this framework of I'm in the midst of a
- 6:09soul forging time.
- 6:12It gives it this very heroic element to it like you're on your own Lord of
- 6:17the Rings type mission at this time in your life,
- 6:20but how do you know that you're in the middle of one right now?
- 6:23So here are some signs. One, you don't know what's going on.
- 6:29And I say,
- 6:30this was so much love in my heart because Lord knows I've been there a lot,
- 6:34but it's this sense of this feeling like what is actually going on right now?
- 6:38I don't have the template for this.
- 6:40I have not lived through this specific kind of thing before.
- 6:44Some aspect of this feels very new to me, very unsure.
- 6:49It might even be in a specific way in your life. You're like,
- 6:53what is going on on a day-to-day basis in my life?
- 6:56I have never seen this kind of thing happen in this kind of way.
- 6:59My routines are all out of whack.
- 7:01If you have this feeling sense of like I do not know what's going on,
- 7:04then you're probably living through a soul forging time.
- 7:09Number two is it's really hard to directly envision
- 7:14your future. I am a very future oriented person.
- 7:17I love daydreaming about the future. I love having plans, visions, goals.
- 7:22When I am living through a soul forging time,
- 7:25it's like all that drops away and I can no longer envision my
- 7:30future.
- 7:31It's very scary to a part of my brain and my psyche that absolutely loves that,
- 7:35loves holding that vision, loves working towards that vision.
- 7:40But there's also a piece here where we need to be willing to even let
- 7:45go of the reaching for that visioning of the future. And here's why.
- 7:49It's because the future is changing in this very moment
- 7:54in soul forging moments
- 7:57your future is being redefined. Now,
- 8:01I think we all come here for a reason. That's literally why I named my podcast.
- 8:06Remember Why You Are Here. It's to remember right,
- 8:09those things that drive us, that brought us here that we're passionate about,
- 8:13that we're here to give to this planet.
- 8:16And nothing is set in stone in terms of how that's going to manifest
- 8:21or how exactly you're going to evolve.
- 8:25And so when you're in a soul forging time,
- 8:27it's almost as if this wider aspect of you,
- 8:30and if you've been following me for a while,
- 8:31you know that I really like the term wider self rather than higher self
- 8:36because for me, my higher self is something I'm a part of.
- 8:41It's this wider energy and awareness that I belong to.
- 8:45And so our wider self is always holding this vision, right?
- 8:48But here in the vessel of our bodies, we can often forget,
- 8:53right?
- 8:53Or we grow accustomed to a certain shape or way of being in the world and we
- 8:58only take up that space. Well, when we're in a soul forging time,
- 9:02it's like we're reforging the container of who we are so that our soul
- 9:08can sit in it in a different way so that our soul itself is actually
- 9:13enriched and changed by the experience of being here.
- 9:16That our soul is able to receive the learning and the knowing and the growth
- 9:20that it yearned for, that it desired in coming here to this planet.
- 9:26And so in this way,
- 9:27it is almost essential actually that you let go of
- 9:31this visioning of the future,
- 9:34this vision of what's to come because it's changing. And in fact,
- 9:39it's probably going to take on a new and more radical shape than you ever
- 9:44could have imagined from where you were previously.
- 9:47It's like your ability to even hold that awareness and that imagining
- 9:52of your future is growing in its capacity.
- 9:57The vessel of your imagination is growing in its capacity.
- 10:00So if you're in a soul forging moment and you can no longer glimpse your future,
- 10:05know that that's a positive thing, that's helpful,
- 10:09let it go because on the other side,
- 10:12so much clarity is going to stream in.
- 10:15And the third sign that you might be in a soul forging time is that certainty is
- 10:20in flux.
- 10:23There are things in my life that I'm certain about,
- 10:29and some of those things are eternal.
- 10:32Like I am certain that this earth loves us
- 10:37and that I'm here for a reason. I'm certain that I love my child.
- 10:42I'm certain that it's a gift to be on this planet.
- 10:46Those are some of my certainties.
- 10:48But what happens during a soul forging time is that some of these certainties
- 10:52that are a little less eternal,
- 10:54but nonetheless were things you were pretty certain about before
- 10:58suddenly are no longer certain.
- 11:03Suddenly these things that were kind of like the bedrock of your
- 11:07existence that you planned around,
- 11:09that you mapped the whole world out within are no longer certain.
- 11:14The map itself has changed. And this happens
- 11:20pretty organically when you have a big change come up
- 11:25during a soul forging time, if you've had a big loss or a dramatic shift,
- 11:30it's like that map of certainty that bedrock has
- 11:35changed beneath you and it is terrifying.
- 11:39It's terrifying to have the things that you were so certain about,
- 11:43whether it was the land where you live,
- 11:48your town, your loved ones, your job,
- 11:52these things that you almost didn't even have to think about, right?
- 11:57When that certainty is in flux,
- 12:00it's almost like you are set free to
- 12:05imagine something different.
- 12:09And I say this with so much love and compassion in my heart because
- 12:13losing those certainties can be absolutely heartbreaking
- 12:19through the hurricane, losing my apothecary, losing our entire town.
- 12:23That's heartbreaking in a way that doesn't change,
- 12:28even as I know this is a absolute soul forging time where more of
- 12:32me is now coming to this planet and my mission is even that much clearer.
- 12:38And yet when certainties are in flux,
- 12:41it opens up our perception.
- 12:43It gives us the ability to widen our field of vision and our field of
- 12:48knowing.
- 12:50It's really normal and natural as human beings to want to have a
- 12:54certain field of our knowing,
- 12:57to have the things that we know are certain and there's a reason for this.
- 13:01When we're certain about something, we don't have to think about it anymore.
- 13:05That's helpful. There's a lot of things to think about.
- 13:08And so when you're certain about something, there's a part of you that goes,
- 13:11okay, that stone is right there. I don't have to think about it anymore.
- 13:16I know it's right there, but what happens when that stone tumbles down?
- 13:20You have to rethink everything.
- 13:22You have to rethink the whole map of your existence.
- 13:25So if you're in a soul forging time,
- 13:28likely the things that you were certain about aren't feeling so certain
- 13:32anymore, and that can be a really challenging experience.
- 13:36But what I want you to think about is that certainty like being that
- 13:41standing stone or perhaps like being a tree in the forest,
- 13:45this old tree that you thought, there's no way this tree could ever fall.
- 13:50And then it does,
- 13:53and it's shocking and it's hard.
- 13:56And on the other side of that shift, a space opens up in the canopy,
- 14:00the ground is revealed. New seeds can take root.
- 14:04You view your landscape differently,
- 14:06and not only are you viewing it differently, you're seeing it.
- 14:10This is the thing about the things that we're certain about.
- 14:13Studies have shown that when we kind of have something categorized certain in
- 14:18our brain, we literally stop seeing it. We stop noticing it,
- 14:21we stop perceiving it. So when certainties in our life change,
- 14:25it opens up our field of perception.
- 14:27It's sort of this semi psychedelic awareness that gets
- 14:31opened up where you're actually seeing your life again with fresh
- 14:36eyes. You're seeing your world again with fresh eyes, your relationships,
- 14:40your career, your path in life.
- 14:42All these things now have the ability to be seen with fresh eyes,
- 14:47and that's valuable, that's so valuable,
- 14:50and it doesn't negate the pain, right?
- 14:54I walk around here in the mountains where I live and some hillsides,
- 14:59every single tree it feels has been broken in half like a matchstick.
- 15:03The land here looks completely different.
- 15:06Things I never thought would change streams,
- 15:10creeks that became raging rivers that entirely and completely changed the
- 15:15geological history of that place, that valley.
- 15:20Nevertheless,
- 15:22it has revealed this layer of
- 15:26existence that I didn't see before.
- 15:28It is literally unearthed rocks that may have never been held
- 15:33by a human hand or seen by human eyes.
- 15:38And it's powerful to have those maps
- 15:42change and that power and that
- 15:47opening of new perspective gives us the potential to come once
- 15:51again back into ourselves with an expanded perspective,
- 15:56to let ourselves be forged by the fire of what we're experiencing so that we can
- 16:00be an even wider container for our own soul and our own being.
- 16:05So you might, after listening to this, be saying to yourself,
- 16:08I am in a soul forging time. Or maybe you're thinking, oh gosh,
- 16:11I really remember that time in my life.
- 16:13I know what it's like to live through that.
- 16:16Or maybe you're even a place of being like, yeah,
- 16:19we're there as a world right now. We are there.
- 16:23And if you're in that place, I'm going to tell you I'm in that place with you.
- 16:26So this is pertinent information for wherever you are.
- 16:31But the next piece I want to share is what do you do?
- 16:34What do you do in those soul forging moments?
- 16:36Because it is so confusing and hard
- 16:41and you feel untethered in this way, and it can be scary.
- 16:46What do you do in these soul forging times these times that look so dire and so
- 16:50drastic,
- 16:51but are literally actually reshaping the container of physical reality,
- 16:56including the container of your own self so that more can be held so that your
- 17:00soul is literally enriched and grows through this
- 17:04experience? This is like the stuff.
- 17:07This is the stuff that your soul came here for,
- 17:10but what do you do on a very real human level?
- 17:14What do you do during these times? Well,
- 17:17the first thing I would suggest is to look for handholds of meaning.
- 17:21That's what I call them, handholds of meaning. And
- 17:28these are not the new vistas that you're going to get to and look out of and be
- 17:31like, I have it all figured out. No,
- 17:35this is like you scaling a wall and you just find one handhold
- 17:40after another. That is all that's being asked of you right now.
- 17:44You don't need to see the whole future. You don't need to see 10 steps ahead.
- 17:48Just the next step.
- 17:49Find that next handhold of meaning where you can continue to hold on
- 17:55because there's this level on which that's all that's really being asked of you
- 17:59during a soul forging time is just to hold on.
- 18:04The alchemy is already happening within you.
- 18:06The alchemy is already taking place.
- 18:08You don't need to do any special kind of ritual.
- 18:12You don't need to set up an altar in order for it to happen.
- 18:14It is happening and your job is just to hold
- 18:19on while it is happening.
- 18:21It is literally like a weather event that you are experiencing
- 18:26and your job is to hold on.
- 18:28So looking for handholds of meaning.
- 18:33Are there moments where you felt affirmed or had a tiny,
- 18:38tiny little bit of clarity?
- 18:40Or are there things that you can see and
- 18:44understand that help make sense of what happened to you that morning?
- 18:49You don't have to understand the big picture here,
- 18:52but just those tiny little handholds of meaning.
- 18:55Feel free to revisit things in life that have been helpful.
- 18:58Or if you do find something, write it down.
- 19:03It can be really helpful to keep a journal at this time.
- 19:06And at the end of the day,
- 19:06just write down whatever that little handhold of meaning was.
- 19:11Write it down. Because the thing is,
- 19:12it feels little like this tiny little shift and you're like, okay,
- 19:16I have a new handhold. I can hold on just a little bit longer.
- 19:19But one handhold after another is what gets us right to the top of the
- 19:24mountain. It's what gets us to that vista.
- 19:27So know that it's really okay to not have the full picture right now to
- 19:32just have a handhold of meaning and to find the
- 19:36next one when it comes.
- 19:39Another important thing that can help you through this time is to remember that
- 19:44nothing is ever exactly as you think it's going to be.
- 19:49Whatever you imagine the future is going to be,
- 19:53it won't be exactly that, and that is a positive thing.
- 19:57So have you noticed this? When we have a vision of the future,
- 20:02no matter what that vision is, whether it's positive or negative,
- 20:05it's never exactly like that.
- 20:09Even if you're very clairvoyant,
- 20:12even if you have these super crystal clear images sometimes come in for you of
- 20:17the future or really strong feelings,
- 20:20it's never exactly like that, right?
- 20:23There may be elements that are even more delightful than you could have imagined
- 20:26or elements that are more challenging or it's just not better or worse.
- 20:30It's just slightly, slightly different.
- 20:34And this is a very positive thing.
- 20:36So here's why we as humans have this negativity bias.
- 20:40We tend to focus on what's negative because we're trying to protect
- 20:45ourselves and make sure hard things don't happen.
- 20:48But then what does end up happening is we often can have sort of a slightly
- 20:53negative bent to what we imagine will happen in the future,
- 20:56this sort of catastrophizing. So if you are catastrophizing in any way,
- 21:01and during soul forging times,
- 21:03one thing I do find is that we tend to go into this place
- 21:08of despair where we say to ourselves, A, X, Y or Z are going to happen,
- 21:13or B, I'm never going to feel excited again.
- 21:17I'm never going to feel enliven again. I'm never going to have direction again.
- 21:20Everything that I've been building is just going to fall apart like a pancake on
- 21:24itself. So when you catch yourself in those cycles,
- 21:28remind yourself nothing is ever exactly as you imagined it was going to be for
- 21:32better or worse.
- 21:34And that should feel like this sort of freeing trickster energy.
- 21:39It's such a trickster energy at play in this world that even the
- 21:43most specifically clairvoyant of us all will
- 21:48never have the full picture of what the future holds.
- 21:51And that's on purpose partially right, because the future is being written now,
- 21:56but it's so helpful to remember when you get into these despair cycles of
- 22:01thinking, I will never get out of this,
- 22:02or things are inevitably going to be bad,
- 22:05or I'm losing everything that I've built to remind
- 22:10yourself like, ah, nothing's ever exactly as I thought it was going to be,
- 22:14as I think it's going to be. And that's positive, right?
- 22:17It leaves space for the beauty of the mystery,
- 22:20the beauty of the potential to come in,
- 22:23and there's so much beauty and so much potential that's ready to come in for
- 22:28you.
- 22:28And when you let go of some of that grasping around how things need
- 22:33to be or have to be the way things want to be as they desire to
- 22:38be will come into being. So remind yourself of this.
- 22:43It's also really helpful,
- 22:45especially when going through the hard aspects of soul forging
- 22:49times to remember that the
- 22:54earth loves you, this planet loves you,
- 22:57the unseen elements that are manufacturing and co-creating and
- 23:03bringing this precipice into view, that they're loving forces,
- 23:08that the general force behind the world is one of love and benevolence
- 23:13and care, and that in fact,
- 23:15you are so loved and your growth is so important to the
- 23:20overall development of this world, to the evolution and healing of this world,
- 23:25that the message that you need to grow will never stop
- 23:30being delivered. It will never stop being delivered.
- 23:35And this can feel hard sometimes, like,
- 23:37why am I at this healing precipice again, I'm dealing with this issue once more.
- 23:42Here I am in the cul-de-sac of whatever the thing is that
- 23:47comes up again and again. But to remember that
- 23:52this is a message. This is a message coming from your own wider self,
- 23:56from the heart of the world,
- 23:58and it's a message that keeps coming because you are
- 24:03that loved. Your evolution and growth is that important,
- 24:08that you're not going to be let off the hook without stepping into it.
- 24:12That the forces that care for your evolution and growth will
- 24:17continue to come, to make themselves manifest,
- 24:21to send these messages, these opportunities to grow,
- 24:25to grow, to grow. Your growth is that important.
- 24:30What you came here to give is that vital.
- 24:32It's that necessary. So you were not being punished,
- 24:36even though I know sometimes it can really feel like that,
- 24:40but you were not being punished by the challenges that are coming up,
- 24:45especially when they're repetitive patterns, issues,
- 24:48challenges that just seem to just cycle in your life.
- 24:52It's a message that is once again being delivered because the heart of the world
- 24:56is saying, do you will not be left behind. You'll not be left behind,
- 25:00not in this lifetime.
- 25:02You are here to continue to blossom and unfurl.
- 25:07You're here to give your gifts. You're here to live into your potential,
- 25:10and this world loves you so much.
- 25:13There's no way that is going to leave you behind.
- 25:17And that is why this is coming up again. Now, saying all of this,
- 25:22the reality is also that soul forging times can be
- 25:26hard on our bodies, on our soma.
- 25:29There's literally a part of our bodies that is going to be saying,
- 25:33this is not okay with me. This is hard. This is stressful.
- 25:38I like certainty. I like safety.
- 25:41I like knowing that the way things are going to be.
- 25:45And so it can be really helpful to have somatic tools
- 25:50to be a companion to your body in this time,
- 25:54even if there's a part of our psyches, our wider spirits that know,
- 25:58yes, this is for the greater good of my unfurling,
- 26:02that I am becoming this vessel where I can hold more and more of who I am.
- 26:07The animal of our bodies needs support during this time.
- 26:12Shock,
- 26:14trauma these are very real aspects of living
- 26:18through especially a soul forging time that's very shocking and
- 26:24it kind of tends to be shocking, soul forging times.
- 26:27There's normally an element of it where we are deeply
- 26:31surprised by what has taken place. We didn't see this coming.
- 26:35And so having somatic tools to be a companion to your body to help your
- 26:40body and your nervous system as you move through this time can be really
- 26:43important.
- 26:44So one of the first most basic things that you could do is to shake.
- 26:50So literally to just shake your body,
- 26:52whether you are dancing and shaking it out,
- 26:54or whether you're just letting your whole body shake with emotion,
- 26:58shake when you're crying. You could lay on a vibrating board,
- 27:03you could twerk, you could do a shimmy,
- 27:06whatever helps you shake.
- 27:08Shaking is a very primal somatic response to stress
- 27:14and shock. And oftentimes,
- 27:16if we don't let ourselves shake,
- 27:19the energy of that shock can live in our body still and become trauma.
- 27:24So letting ourselves shake and maybe having a daily shaking practice can be
- 27:28really helpful in letting go of some of this stored charge.
- 27:33And when we have stored a charge,
- 27:35our body will continue to try and complete the cycle,
- 27:39whatever that cycle is to try and complete it so that the charge can be
- 27:42released.
- 27:43And so sometimes this can look like manifesting more issues.
- 27:48It can look like sort of
- 27:52recapitulating a trauma.
- 27:54And so if it feels like you're kind of in this space where you can't get a
- 27:59break,
- 28:00one thing you can do is try literally giving your body a break by shaking,
- 28:05shaking, shaking, shaking,
- 28:06because this really helps to integrate and release the
- 28:11charge that we're carrying. So even in this moment,
- 28:14you could try shaking your hands and just notice as you shake your hands,
- 28:17if you have the ability to do so,
- 28:20that even just a little bit of that energy can be released.
- 28:23And that's super duper helpful.
- 28:25I noticed when I was living through the hurricane the first time I went to the
- 28:30apothecary, and that was an entire experience unto itself.
- 28:35It was dangerous and very hard physically and emotionally.
- 28:38When I came home,
- 28:41my whole body shook like a leaf for hours,
- 28:44and it was really important that I let that go.
- 28:47It is super important that I let that happen when it was arising,
- 28:50and I made a practice of continuing to shake in the days after and even the
- 28:55months after. So that's one tool.
- 28:58Another tool is called a butterfly hug. And so this is pretty simple.
- 29:03You take your two hands,
- 29:05you cross them over your chest so that your thumbs meet,
- 29:08and then you intertwine your thumbs,
- 29:11and then you lay both hands sort of opposite of one another on your chest.
- 29:15So you'd have your right hand on the left side of your chest,
- 29:18your left hand on the right side of your chest,
- 29:20and you can keep your thumbs intertwined here,
- 29:22or if that doesn't feel comfortable,
- 29:24just have your hands sort of crossed over your chest and then you alternate
- 29:28tapping on one side of your chest versus another.
- 29:31This somatic technique was literally developed in the
- 29:36aftermath of a natural disaster to help people survive
- 29:40moments of big upheaval and change.
- 29:42But it's really this bilateral stimulation is super helpful for regulating our
- 29:47nervous system for coming back into this settled state of
- 29:52being in our nervous system. So you can do this for 30 seconds, a minute,
- 29:56even longer,
- 29:58and just see how long it takes until you just reach this sense of settledness.
- 30:02Again, nothing's fixed, but you're settled again.
- 30:07There's a sense of being able to touch your center.
- 30:10The last practice I want to hand to you is called comfort object,
- 30:14eye gazing.
- 30:16This is also a somatic tool where you find something in your
- 30:21environment that is very comforting for you to look at,
- 30:24and you let your gaze rest there.
- 30:26So the first thing you're going to do is actually literally move your neck
- 30:28around in a circle, not a specific circle,
- 30:32but just let your neck move in all directions. So you look to the left,
- 30:36you look to the right,
- 30:38you really let your head move up and down and all around.
- 30:43And this movement of our neck is signaling to our nervous system that we are
- 30:47safe, right? When we're in a high stakes moment,
- 30:51we're going to want to be looking straight ahead.
- 30:53We're focused like a laser beam.
- 30:54So when you specifically intentionally move your neck around,
- 30:59it is signaling to your nervous system, oh,
- 31:01we must be safe enough to look around us.
- 31:04So really look all around the space that you're in.
- 31:09And then once you've really taken a good look all around,
- 31:12letting your eyes move too as you, your head, your neck, and your eyes,
- 31:17then find an object,
- 31:19something that you can rest your gaze on that is comforting.
- 31:24So when I first returned from
- 31:29making my way to the apothecary, hiking onto the island,
- 31:33I was in a pretty big state of shock after that experience.
- 31:37And I was sitting in the grass of
- 31:42this farm. We didn't have running water at the time still.
- 31:44And so we went to a farm where they did have running water to take a shower
- 31:48because I was covered head to toe in this toxic sludge,
- 31:53wasn't fully geared up or prepared for the reality of what that was going to be
- 31:56like.
- 31:57And I could feel that I was literally living outside of my
- 32:02body. I was not inside of my body. I was so in shock.
- 32:05But I remembered these tools, I remembered them. And so I did this.
- 32:09I looked all around and ended up letting my gaze
- 32:14fall on this trellis of tomatoes that they had and
- 32:18was looking at the tomatoes and all the different stages of growth.
- 32:22And it was really amazing to notice that just this simple motion of
- 32:27first looking around and then letting myself really
- 32:32be comforted, really letting myself be comforted by something in my field,
- 32:37did a lot to help myself come in. And I did all the things.
- 32:40I was shaking on purpose. I was looking around. I did the butterfly hug,
- 32:45and it was actually life-changing to witness how my
- 32:50soul came back into my body. And this is something that's really important.
- 32:55And another big reason why I bring up somatic exercises in particular
- 33:00is because in order for a soul forging time to actually forge our soul,
- 33:05our soul needs to be present. And it makes sense, right?
- 33:09When we're going through a really, really hard time or something traumatic,
- 33:13something shocking, that part of us fleas is like not going to be here anymore.
- 33:17That's by design. It's important.
- 33:19It helps keep our souls and our psyches intact to
- 33:23dissociate in that way. And yet,
- 33:26in order for the integration to happen on the other side, for the evolution,
- 33:30the growth, the potential to come in,
- 33:32we need to bring our souls back in to our bodies,
- 33:35back into the vessels in order for our soul to then both forge
- 33:40us in their next evolution and be forged as we grow and
- 33:45evolve and change.
- 33:46So these are just three somatic exercises that I find to be really helpful that
- 33:50will really bring you back into your body so that
- 33:55your soul can do its work,
- 33:59your soul can be changed from what you've experienced,
- 34:03that you can evolve more into this wider
- 34:08receptacle, this wider vessel that you are meant to be. And lastly,
- 34:12I find it super helpful if you're in the middle of a soul forging time to
- 34:16remember other soul forging times in your life.
- 34:21To remember how you were in the midst of it. When you were in the midst of it,
- 34:25you had no idea how you were going to survive this.
- 34:28It felt like everything had changed. Everything was up in the air,
- 34:31and yet you did. And so they can give us templates,
- 34:36they can give us handholds of meaning to look back and see, oh,
- 34:40I had no idea what was being forged in that time,
- 34:44but I would not be the person I am today without that experience.
- 34:48So much so that maybe even a part of you is grateful that it happened.
- 34:54So look back to those times because they will help to guide you for the times
- 34:58ahead and to know that as much as we are living in a time where everyone
- 35:02keeps calling it unprecedented times,
- 35:07there's this level in which it's not.
- 35:09There's this level in which everything under the sun has happened before
- 35:13in one iteration or another.
- 35:15And so when you look at a collective level and you start to feel like
- 35:20the world is going to hell in a hand basket,
- 35:24you can remember that human beings have lived through so
- 35:28many cycles of cataclysm and change.
- 35:31We have gone through great bottlenecks in which our species almost completely
- 35:36died out. We have seen empires rise and fall.
- 35:39We've seen the worst of humanity and the best of humanity.
- 35:43We have lived through it all our ancestors have lived through it all.
- 35:49So as we walk into this time this year of 2025 this
- 35:54year that I had called in my reading a Soul Forging Year,
- 35:57remember that you have the tools to live through
- 36:02this.
- 36:03Your ancestors lived through every imaginable iteration of
- 36:08change, cataclysm, upheaval. As humans
- 36:11we were designed to actually withstand this, to move through this,
- 36:16to be forged by it so that we can continue to bring the invaluable
- 36:20gifts that we carry as a species and as individuals to
- 36:25this planet.
- 36:27I don't think any soul forging times happen by
- 36:31accident.
- 36:34There are opportunities that the earth is helping
- 36:38to bring into being that we're part of
- 36:42co-creating because the deepest part of us,
- 36:46the widest part of us, wants to grow, wants to evolve,
- 36:51wants to be forged by this experience of living
- 36:56here on this planet because there's a freedom in it.
- 37:00There's a freedom in evolving into who you always
- 37:05knew you were meant to be.
- 37:07And what's really cool and kind of radical about living through hard
- 37:12times,
- 37:13living through soul forging times is that your mission can get super clear.
- 37:19All the stuff that isn't for you anymore,
- 37:22that you don't need to worry about anymore, you don't need to handle,
- 37:24you don't even need to pay attention to, you don't need to read about,
- 37:27you don't need to watch.
- 37:29All that stuff gets really clear because you notice the way in which it
- 37:33takes you away from what's most important,
- 37:36the way it takes you away from your heart's mission.
- 37:42Soul forging times make what is very important
- 37:47collectively, but also personally to you, very, very clear.
- 37:52So embrace that gift of this time,
- 37:54whether you're personally in a very soul forging time,
- 37:57or whether you just are experiencing the vast soul forging that we are in as
- 38:01this world.
- 38:03Know that things are being made clear for you in your own
- 38:07lives, for the collective.
- 38:09There is a deep and powerful clarity coming out of this time.
- 38:13And on the other side will be this new fashioning,
- 38:17this new forging,
- 38:19this new patterning that can hold even more
- 38:23potential than what we can currently imagine.
- 38:27So thank you for being here.
- 38:29Thank you for living through these soul forging times,
- 38:32for being willing to continue to be here. You're vital,
- 38:36you're really important for this moment in time. If you weren't important,
- 38:39you wouldn't be here. What you have to give who you are,
- 38:44it's an essential part of this whole.
- 38:46And you being willing to be forged by your experiences
- 38:51and by what we're moving through collectively on this planet is a really
- 38:55important piece of the becoming that is at play in our
- 39:00world right now. So if you are loving this podcast so far,
