Latest / FPL Pod / S7 Ep4: FPL Pod: Finalising our Gameweek 1 team
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: One final FPL frenzy before the season starts. We discussed
- 0:04Speaker 1: a slanky shape saga that means no seller, other draft
- 0:07Speaker 1: dilemmas as we now down our sides, and some preseason
- 0:10Speaker 1: predictions as Jewels tries to defend his crowns.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Well, this is it.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Game Week one is finally here. Do not panic though
- 0:21Speaker 1: if you're not, sort of because I'm certainly not. Kelly
- 0:24Speaker 1: Summer's here with you, back with the final FPL pod
- 0:27Speaker 1: before the season starts and hopefully helping me and everyone
- 0:30Speaker 1: else through Sanbornfield and Julian Larron duel back from the Olympics.
- 0:34Speaker 2: No excuses. Now, you've got to sort this team out.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, but you know I could.
- 0:38Speaker 4: I'm multitasking, as you know, I can do the FBL
- 0:41Speaker 4: and my team and the Olympics.
- 0:43Speaker 3: You know what. The last the last part I covered
- 0:46Speaker 3: on the Olympics.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Right, Okay, So because through this it's basketball.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Yeah, as gonna say, if you follow Jews on social media,
- 0:58Speaker 1: you'll know that. Would you say that's a highlight or
- 1:00Speaker 1: a life highlight?
- 1:01Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:01Speaker 4: Yeah, one hundred Without that, they were like literally there,
- 1:05Speaker 4: Kelly like like almost played in the same team. So
- 1:08Speaker 4: you know, as a as a massive basketball find an
- 1:11Speaker 4: NBA fan to cover.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Them was just one of the best moments of my
- 1:15Speaker 3: professional career.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Official, I'm very pleased to be you. But Sam, bring
- 1:18Speaker 1: this round to f PL.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Will you? Are you ready?
- 1:20Speaker 4: I was just saying because often you wonder like what sports,
- 1:23Speaker 4: So now I've done, you know, swimming, running and athletics.
- 1:26Speaker 2: So you didn't make people wait until the end of
- 1:28Speaker 2: the podcast. You did it at the beginnings. Never switched
- 1:31Speaker 2: off already. We'll get some skills at the end of
- 1:33Speaker 2: the Sam bring us background to ft PL.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Because we're a couple of minutes in and we're now
- 1:38Speaker 1: talking about the wrong sport.
- 1:39Speaker 2: We're going to get in trouble. Yeah, it's nearly there now,
- 1:42Speaker 2: isn't it.
- 1:42Speaker 5: And I think this is the This is the bit
- 1:44Speaker 5: of pre season where everybody either goes I'm happy and
- 1:48Speaker 5: they settle or goes into the sas melt down.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Nobody is happy.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Do you know what the beginning of the weekend I was,
- 1:55Speaker 5: I think I'm settled, and then I.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Really really and then I settled. I'm sorry, but who's settled.
- 2:01Speaker 1: At the beginning of the final weekend of preseason friendlies
- 2:05Speaker 1: before the Community Shield, before signings, injuries, games.
- 2:09Speaker 2: If you say you're settled, you're lying.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Well, it's the settling. It's the settling in terms of
- 2:13Speaker 5: like I feel, I feel like this team's quite good.
- 2:15Speaker 5: And then obviously the last preseasons play apart, but it's
- 2:18Speaker 5: also the signings that have had a massive impact on
- 2:21Speaker 5: my team, because suddenly I'm now like, okay, everything's gone
- 2:25Speaker 5: out the window.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I get the feeling it might be one signing in particular,
- 2:29Speaker 1: Jewels which signing do we think that it might have
- 2:31Speaker 1: affected sound?
- 2:33Speaker 4: Could it be somebody who plays in white and came
- 2:36Speaker 4: from a club from the South that you know well, Kelly,
- 2:39Speaker 4: maybe to a North London club.
- 2:42Speaker 2: I think it could be. And hands up.
- 2:44Speaker 1: We can do this now because we're on YouTube. Hands
- 2:46Speaker 1: up if you've alread got him in your FBL team.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I know for the interest of those of you listening
- 2:51Speaker 1: on podcast, there's a little your first reminder of the day.
- 2:53Speaker 2: We're also on YouTube.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We have all put our hands up, and that is
- 2:56Speaker 1: not surprising, is it, Sam?
- 2:58Speaker 5: No, Because like if you can have Spurs as number
- 3:01Speaker 5: nine for seven and a half million.
- 3:02Speaker 1: By the way, we're talking about dominic silanky. I realized
- 3:04Speaker 1: I didn't actually name it Dominic Slank.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Yeah, arriving before it was officially announced he was in
- 3:10Speaker 5: my team, and then I sat there refreshing the app
- 3:13Speaker 5: going put him in a Spurs shout, go on, do
- 3:15Speaker 5: it quicker, and then eventually he landed in the Spurs show.
- 3:18Speaker 5: I was very happy about that. But yeah, I think
- 3:20Speaker 5: if you can have the Spurs number nine for seven
- 3:22Speaker 5: and a half million, it makes for the perfect third forward.
- 3:25Speaker 5: And I can see a lot of teams being changed
- 3:30Speaker 5: quite substantially to afford that, because obviously, for a lot
- 3:32Speaker 5: of people, if you had a Jow Pedro, or you
- 3:35Speaker 5: had a Chris Wood, or you had a me NAIs
- 3:37Speaker 5: down there, you're going to have to find a little bit
- 3:39Speaker 5: of extra budget. So that's the problem I had this week.
- 3:42Speaker 5: It was just I needed to find some budget from
- 3:44Speaker 5: somewhere else.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I think it would also affect a few of those
- 3:47Speaker 1: people who were getting quite excited. You included Sam about
- 3:50Speaker 1: the potential of an out of position Spurs midfielder.
- 3:53Speaker 2: So I presume.
- 3:54Speaker 1: We'll talk about your team in a little bit more
- 3:56Speaker 1: detail later on. We'll also talk about some of the
- 3:58Speaker 1: other new signings in the league later. I just wanted
- 4:00Speaker 1: to mention Silanky, because we've got a personal interest in
- 4:03Speaker 1: the podcast and it does feel like, actually, all of
- 4:06Speaker 1: a sudden, we might have a bit of a template
- 4:08Speaker 1: front three for lots of people now early shouts out,
- 4:11Speaker 1: first shouts out of the season by the end of
- 4:12Speaker 1: the season. Last year, I knew the pod Mini League
- 4:15Speaker 1: code off by Harp. We've got a new one now
- 4:17Speaker 1: that I'm there. So this is your first invitation to
- 4:20Speaker 1: join myself, Sam and Jewles and all of the rest
- 4:23Speaker 1: of the listeners in playing against us this season. Can
- 4:25Speaker 1: you beat Jewels, myself and Sam certainly, Hope. So the
- 4:28Speaker 1: code is QTE seven y C O zero, so that's
- 4:32Speaker 1: like a little O the letter and then zero Q
- 4:35Speaker 1: seven y C zero.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Please do join.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Hope to see lots of you in there. Okay, let's
- 4:42Speaker 1: reflect then on the final round of preseason friendies and
- 4:45Speaker 1: the one that probably Jewles tells us the most, particularly
- 4:48Speaker 1: given the fact that it was between two of the
- 4:51Speaker 1: biggest teams in the league and it's the most serious
- 4:54Speaker 1: official unofficial friendly.
- 4:56Speaker 2: We're going to call it friendly Silverware.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'm talking about the community Shield City versus Manchester United.
- 5:02Speaker 1: What did you take away from that?
- 5:03Speaker 4: I thought it was a big kg for nineteen minutes,
- 5:05Speaker 4: no extra time. Obviously we went straight to penalties. I
- 5:08Speaker 4: expected it to be to be fair. Neither team really
- 5:12Speaker 4: starting the strongest eleven for obvious reasons, some players just
- 5:16Speaker 4: coming back from injured from holiday storry, some injured, some
- 5:20Speaker 4: new signings there and there. But you've got to see
- 5:23Speaker 4: still little bit there that would I think benefit us
- 5:28Speaker 4: in the game. For example, we saw I think again
- 5:30Speaker 4: a very good Acabob, which is we've mentioned him, We've
- 5:33Speaker 4: highlighted him already in our first three shows, who I
- 5:37Speaker 4: think is a very interesting player. We saw that Halan
- 5:39Speaker 4: didn't score again, but he never really scores in Community
- 5:41Speaker 4: Shield and yet always starts the season well, so that's
- 5:44Speaker 4: not I don't think that's a that's a worry. We
- 5:46Speaker 4: saw a coming on for United scoring and doing really well,
- 5:50Speaker 4: not so much Marcus Rashford who had some chances that
- 5:52Speaker 4: didn't take, which again I think is interesting for the
- 5:55Speaker 4: game if you were thinking about getting Marcus Rashford too.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So I thought it was.
- 6:00Speaker 4: It was a very still interesting game despite not being
- 6:02Speaker 4: the most entertaining.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Sam, what about you, what did you take away from
- 6:06Speaker 1: I was particularly interested in Manchester City for this one.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Although the whole thing of players coming back from international
- 6:12Speaker 1: doesn't really help us.
- 6:13Speaker 5: With this game, it does make it more difficult. And
- 6:15Speaker 5: I think, you know, because it's been an international summer,
- 6:17Speaker 5: it has made has made that part of FPO a
- 6:21Speaker 5: little bit more difficult. I mean Oscar Bob he did
- 6:23Speaker 5: continue to impress again and you know, he's now played
- 6:26Speaker 5: in ninety two percent of the minutes that man City
- 6:28Speaker 5: have played in preseason, has got two goals and three
- 6:30Speaker 5: assists in that time, more minutes than anybody else has
- 6:32Speaker 5: got for Manchester City this summer.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So what does that tell you?
- 6:36Speaker 5: Well, it's difficult with Pep, isn't it, because you never
- 6:38Speaker 5: really know what he's going to do. But he has
- 6:40Speaker 5: looked good this preseason and got enough minutes to suggest
- 6:43Speaker 5: that he will get the NOD for Game Week one.
- 6:46Speaker 5: So if you do want to go for the cheap
- 6:47Speaker 5: option in midfield, then I think you have that there.
- 6:50Speaker 5: I do worry a little bit longer term about how
- 6:53Speaker 5: that Man City seems going to look when you get
- 6:55Speaker 5: you know, the likes of Foden and Bernardo Silver and
- 6:58Speaker 5: those guys coming back into the starting Evan and obviously
- 7:01Speaker 5: Greaders she's been having a good preseason and then wasn't
- 7:03Speaker 5: available for the Community Shields, So yeah, it was an
- 7:07Speaker 5: interesting learning point. It put Bob firmly back on my radar. Harlan,
- 7:11Speaker 5: I agree with what George just said. I'm not worried
- 7:13Speaker 5: about him. He's caught a brace in the last two
- 7:15Speaker 5: game week one, so just because he didn't do a
- 7:18Speaker 5: lot in this one doesn't worry me too much.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the last two seasons he got two goals and
- 7:22Speaker 1: thirteen points on the opening day, so yeah, don't get
- 7:26Speaker 1: two panics if you're Oscar Bob. To me, Jiles feels
- 7:28Speaker 1: very much like a Julian Larron signing some.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Considering him.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I've got him in the squads already after that before yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 4: of course five on five I think is a good
- 7:41Speaker 4: enabler to have. Then I still think that I think
- 7:45Speaker 4: he will start again with one and it's against Chelsea Away,
- 7:48Speaker 4: so we said it's a difficult fixture to start with
- 7:50Speaker 4: the City, but I think he will start. I think
- 7:54Speaker 4: on that right hand side where him as a left
- 7:56Speaker 4: footed attacking midfielder or attacking player is really interesting because
- 8:01Speaker 4: since Mariez left and even marie last season was not
- 8:03Speaker 4: the best of go Banado there, but I think Bobb
- 8:05Speaker 4: is more of a player that sut that position than
- 8:08Speaker 4: ban Ado Silva really or for me, he's more of
- 8:09Speaker 4: a central player. So I think there's a there's a
- 8:12Speaker 4: role for him in his team. Okay, maybe not consistently
- 8:16Speaker 4: for the whole season nineteen minutes every time, because he
- 8:20Speaker 4: will still be I think more of a squad player
- 8:22Speaker 4: than a regular starter, guaranteed starter. But for now, in
- 8:26Speaker 4: terms of form, and like Sam said, who's been playing,
- 8:29Speaker 4: who's just coming back, who is not really fully fit
- 8:32Speaker 4: to start a Premier League match of the caliber of
- 8:34Speaker 4: Chelsea Away for example, I think he's there and he's
- 8:37Speaker 4: been City's best player really in the summer so far.
- 8:40Speaker 1: What about Manchester United?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Is Sam?
- 8:42Speaker 1: Because I was really interested in how Marcus Rushforld was
- 8:45Speaker 1: going to do. Feel like he's got a point to prove.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Jews mentioned it there missed some chances? Is he or
- 8:51Speaker 1: anyone else from ericson Harkside Worth investment?
- 8:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean Rushford. I was watching him because actually's
- 8:59Speaker 5: priced really nicely in their game, and I think actually
- 9:02Speaker 5: I was quite disappointed with Hink because it's getting in
- 9:04Speaker 5: the right places, doing the right things and then just
- 9:06Speaker 5: not finishing any of them. And the one chance in
- 9:08Speaker 5: particular that really he should have put away, and Marcus
- 9:11Speaker 5: rash would have two seasons ago would have put that
- 9:14Speaker 5: away with his eyes closed. And so I don't know.
- 9:17Speaker 5: For me, there's still very much a wait and see
- 9:19Speaker 5: that game on the It's the opening game of the
- 9:22Speaker 5: season right against Fulham. I don't see that being an
- 9:24Speaker 5: easy game for Mansester United by any stretch of the imagination.
- 9:27Speaker 5: They've got some defensive issues in terms of injuries. So
- 9:32Speaker 5: I'm looking at them thinking, I feel like they're a
- 9:34Speaker 5: team that if they start well in the sort of
- 9:37Speaker 5: opening two or three game weeks, then I might look
- 9:39Speaker 5: to invest because they're not difficult to get to in
- 9:41Speaker 5: terms of their price points. So I do think you
- 9:43Speaker 5: can afford to just wait and see on Manses United,
- 9:45Speaker 5: and that's what I'll be doing because apart from Garnatcho,
- 9:48Speaker 5: nobody really stood out from the red.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Side of Manister in that one for me, anyway, you.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Agree, Geors, Yeah, but I have to say I was
- 9:57Speaker 4: convinced by Ganad sure enough to bring him back into
- 10:00Speaker 4: the squad where he worked first, and then yeah, I
- 10:02Speaker 4: think he will start this weekend. I think he would
- 10:06Speaker 4: just be united biggest threat, let's put it that way
- 10:10Speaker 4: going forward, more than anybody else. And I think he's
- 10:13Speaker 4: got The summer has been a good summer for him
- 10:15Speaker 4: for many I mean, even the last eighteen months have
- 10:17Speaker 4: been an incredible journey for him. And I think he's
- 10:21Speaker 4: still so young and still very raw in many respects,
- 10:24Speaker 4: but has something very special, I think. And this team,
- 10:28Speaker 4: this team is still being built in a way. There's
- 10:31Speaker 4: some new signings, there's still ten Hag, but ten Hag
- 10:34Speaker 4: has lost has a lot to prove himself too, And
- 10:36Speaker 4: I think Garnaccio is the one value in that team
- 10:39Speaker 4: that you know, I think he's going to.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Deliver if there's one to deliver, even more than Bruno.
- 10:43Speaker 4: More than we can look at defenders, we can look
- 10:46Speaker 4: at Howland, we can look at Zerxi, we can look
- 10:48Speaker 4: at all those different options.
- 10:50Speaker 3: For me, Garnaccho is the one who.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Is the most established in a position, knowing exactly what
- 10:54Speaker 4: to do. Everybody knows his strength, as we saw on
- 10:56Speaker 4: his goal and the competition, and that's why his goal
- 10:59Speaker 4: is such a Garach goal, such a ganactual goal, that
- 11:02Speaker 4: this is what he does so well and I think
- 11:03Speaker 4: he can do that old season, so at his price,
- 11:06Speaker 4: I think it's a no brainer if you want a
- 11:08Speaker 4: United player, if you don't want a United player. But
- 11:10Speaker 4: I was quite convinced by the way United player against
- 11:13Speaker 4: City in that committee ship. I didn't expect them to
- 11:16Speaker 4: play at that kind of level already in the season.
- 11:19Speaker 4: So I think he's going to be a very good
- 11:21Speaker 4: season from United from a United point of view, and
- 11:23Speaker 4: I think an actual will be the key in that.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Jeeles, I've got some good news for you actually, because
- 11:29Speaker 1: you know before when you were listing having Oscar Bob,
- 11:31Speaker 1: I think you said he was five point five million.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He's actually only five only.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Five Sorry I thought it was five for five, all.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Right, but it means that you've got zero point five
- 11:39Speaker 1: million more than you thought you had exactly see in
- 11:42Speaker 1: the bank. Again, moving on to the other preseason matches
- 11:46Speaker 1: them because it wasn't just the Community Shield that took
- 11:47Speaker 1: place last weekend, and it's one of the final games
- 11:49Speaker 1: for Premier League sides where they kind of show their hand.
- 11:52Speaker 2: A little bit more.
- 11:52Speaker 1: We get maybe a bit more of an indication of
- 11:54Speaker 1: what they'll look like on game week one. The one
- 11:57Speaker 1: I was most interested in and played most attention to,
- 12:00Speaker 1: I'm going to be honest, was Liverpool because I said
- 12:03Speaker 1: this time last week that I was struggling to get
- 12:05Speaker 1: my sala in. I'm still struggling to get my salary in.
- 12:08Speaker 1: It's an eternal problem. So many of us have got
- 12:11Speaker 1: I'm leaning towards Diogo Jotta some What do you think
- 12:15Speaker 1: of that?
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 12:17Speaker 5: The Dominic's lanky who I'm sure will talk more about
- 12:19Speaker 5: in a little bit. Bringing him in has upset my
- 12:23Speaker 5: team even further because it means that well, it has,
- 12:27Speaker 5: because it means that in order to afford him, I've
- 12:29Speaker 5: had to take some money out of someone else, because
- 12:31Speaker 5: I was absolutely certain I didn't want to take that
- 12:33Speaker 5: money out of Salah. I now have an even weaker
- 12:37Speaker 5: midfield than I started with last week is basically Salah
- 12:40Speaker 5: or bust now, and I'm looking at that team and
- 12:43Speaker 5: I'm thinking I need to find a bit more balanced here,
- 12:46Speaker 5: because if I get two game weeks into the season
- 12:48Speaker 5: and players like Garnacho have done something really good, or
- 12:52Speaker 5: players in the eight and a half, or you know
- 12:55Speaker 5: Arsenal who I'm terrified about not having play really well,
- 12:59Speaker 5: then I am.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Really going to struggle to bring them in.
- 13:02Speaker 5: So I need to find a way to balance my team,
- 13:05Speaker 5: and Jotta feels like the most obvious way of doing that.
- 13:10Speaker 5: I mean, obviously he gets the goal in this one.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Salah didn't get any attack in returns. But Salah was
- 13:15Speaker 5: still good in this game. He still had plenty of
- 13:17Speaker 5: good opportunities and could have easily got something out of it.
- 13:21Speaker 5: So it's not that I think that Salah is a
- 13:26Speaker 5: bad pick. It's just the more these new signings come in,
- 13:28Speaker 5: the more it changes the way that the rest of
- 13:30Speaker 5: your team looks, the more you have to find compromises.
- 13:32Speaker 5: And I'm not sure how far I'm prepared to compromise
- 13:35Speaker 5: on Sala yet. I'm still not one hundred percent sure
- 13:39Speaker 5: that I'm willing to go that far with my compromises.
- 13:42Speaker 5: But I do think that Jotter is looking like a
- 13:44Speaker 5: really nice alternative, and as we said last week, he
- 13:47Speaker 5: does look like he's going to start in the number nine.
- 13:48Speaker 5: I mean, Liverpool played two matches that day and it
- 13:51Speaker 5: was Jotter who started in I guess what you would
- 13:53Speaker 5: call the first team match. And yeah, so Jotter does
- 13:58Speaker 5: feel like a good op. If you don't have the
- 14:01Speaker 5: budget for Salah for sure? Can you get around Salah
- 14:03Speaker 5: by having josted always? Are there any other options there
- 14:07Speaker 5: in the Liverpool midfield and do we need a Liverpool midfielder.
- 14:10Speaker 3: I think we need a Liverpool player whatever that is.
- 14:13Speaker 4: It could be a defender, could be a midfielder, could
- 14:15Speaker 4: be a forward, it.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Doesn't matter so much. I think you need one day.
- 14:18Speaker 4: I think they will have a really good season with
- 14:19Speaker 4: on the slot and already they look really good when
- 14:22Speaker 4: the guy has been in charge for a month, So
- 14:25Speaker 4: I think I think you need someone. I tried to
- 14:27Speaker 4: put Salad in before the Slonki move and I just
- 14:33Speaker 4: the rest of the team outside of Hallan and Salad
- 14:35Speaker 4: just didn't make me happy. I was just not convinced
- 14:38Speaker 4: by it. So I decided no Salah. And I think
- 14:40Speaker 4: if you decide no Salah, you can try like Sam
- 14:43Speaker 4: and try to make you work for me.
- 14:46Speaker 3: I didn't think that he worked. If you can't make
- 14:48Speaker 3: your salad for.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Me is the obvious kind of replacement from a Liverpool
- 14:52Speaker 4: point of view. And the goalie scord which was a
- 14:55Speaker 4: fantastic finish, and we know the talent is not the problem.
- 14:58Speaker 4: The problem is the fitness because he always keep keeps
- 15:01Speaker 4: getting those little injuries there and there. But Shota to
- 15:04Speaker 4: start the season. It looks full if is ready, as
- 15:07Speaker 4: we've said they have. Really I switched away. It's hard
- 15:11Speaker 4: to do a better fixture than that one. Really, I
- 15:15Speaker 4: could have been at home, but that's it. Really, So
- 15:17Speaker 4: I think Jota if you can't make Salah, if you
- 15:20Speaker 4: don't have that kind of money, because you also want.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Harland and one or two other premiums, go for Shota.
- 15:25Speaker 4: It's a great, great alternative, more than an alternative, even
- 15:28Speaker 4: because I think for the if you compare the price
- 15:30Speaker 4: and the value, I would rather have Jota than Salah.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it does feel like that, doesn't it, because he
- 15:35Speaker 1: is so much cheap. A seven point five million compared
- 15:37Speaker 1: to twelve point five for most, that's a whole five million.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Good maths for me, I know.
- 15:42Speaker 1: That's what other headlines, as we know I regularly is
- 15:45Speaker 1: from my maths is not my strong point. Other headlines
- 15:48Speaker 1: and someone we've spoken through about a lot on Kunky
- 15:50Speaker 1: was benched for Chelsea's final preseason match, Jeors. How much
- 15:53Speaker 1: do we read into that?
- 15:56Speaker 3: I'm not sure how much.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it's tough and Chelsea is still a work in
- 16:01Speaker 4: progress very much, so we say the mareska, are.
- 16:03Speaker 2: You any Are you any more impressed than you last one?
- 16:06Speaker 4: Not really, No, I'm just I'm just very excited to
- 16:09Speaker 4: see maybe when the season starts properly things would get
- 16:13Speaker 4: in place better. But what a first game, as we
- 16:15Speaker 4: said to to host City I stand for Bridge, would
- 16:19Speaker 4: be very difficult. And I mean Pedro netto who will
- 16:24Speaker 4: talk about later, is also an interesting one from a
- 16:27Speaker 4: Chelsea point of view. But yeah, I don't think and
- 16:29Speaker 4: couldn't cool for me right now? Is the is the answer?
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I've seen a lot of him fall
- 16:34Speaker 1: out of a lot of people's drafts. Aren't we good
- 16:36Speaker 1: to Seeel Pedro back in scoring Sam? But I almost
- 16:39Speaker 1: feel like from what we said before about the fours,
- 16:41Speaker 1: it might be a little bit too little.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Too late.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:44Speaker 5: I watched the Community Shield on Saturday with Ads, and
- 16:47Speaker 5: of course Ads is a massive, massive Brighton fan. He
- 16:50Speaker 5: comes on here sometimes and and we said exactly the
- 16:53Speaker 5: same thing. We were both like, job Pedro back and scoring.
- 16:56Speaker 5: That feels like a really great option. Oh except that
- 16:59Speaker 5: we will want Harlan any second now. We all need
- 17:00Speaker 5: to lanky as well, so it's difficult to find a
- 17:03Speaker 5: spot for him. And it's a shame really with Joe
- 17:05Speaker 5: Pedro because we thought he was going to be good
- 17:07Speaker 5: when the price came out. Then he missed pretty much
- 17:10Speaker 5: all of preseason with this rib injury that he had,
- 17:12Speaker 5: didn't travel away with Brighton comes in plays what forty
- 17:16Speaker 5: five minutes in this game and scores and yeah, I
- 17:19Speaker 5: mean it's one of those, isn't it. Where if you
- 17:22Speaker 5: are absolutely set that you have to have Harlan and
- 17:25Speaker 5: you have to have Salah and you know you want
- 17:27Speaker 5: a Trent or somebody in there as well, then players
- 17:31Speaker 5: like Jow Pedro are probably going to be the way
- 17:34Speaker 5: that you have to go. But we should just be
- 17:37Speaker 5: a little bit mindful that Danny Welbeck has actually had
- 17:39Speaker 5: a really good preseason as well. Yeah, I mean, he's
- 17:42Speaker 5: got three goals and an assist. He's played sixty nine
- 17:44Speaker 5: percent of the minutes over the course of the preseasons
- 17:46Speaker 5: two hundred and fifty minutes of preseason, So in terms
- 17:49Speaker 5: of like match fitness and being ready to go this season,
- 17:52Speaker 5: Danny Wellbeck is in the right place for them. So
- 17:55Speaker 5: if you are going for Jill Pedro, there is the
- 17:57Speaker 5: Wellbeck problem. Potentially just sit there as well.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Yeah, worth thinking about him, someone that I mentioned last
- 18:04Speaker 1: week potentially getting rid of, and then Sammy made me
- 18:06Speaker 1: feel so bad about I didn't eber Eza. He's not
- 18:10Speaker 1: had the most exciting preseason, but he was away with
- 18:15Speaker 1: England and it is just preseason. He's still in my team, Jules,
- 18:20Speaker 1: what have you made of his preseason?
- 18:21Speaker 3: Now?
- 18:22Speaker 1: He's so popular in the game, isn't he seven million?
- 18:24Speaker 1: People should be looking elsewhere? Is he still really good value?
- 18:27Speaker 3: No?
- 18:27Speaker 4: I think I think there's there's a I think there's
- 18:30Speaker 4: good value there. I think there's there's a case to
- 18:32Speaker 4: make for him and your team. Especially with o Lisa leaving,
- 18:36Speaker 4: you would think that even more the kind of attacking
- 18:40Speaker 4: game of Palace will rely on him, so he will
- 18:43Speaker 4: be even more involved. I think it's a difficult summer
- 18:46Speaker 4: for him because one, as you said, he was with
- 18:49Speaker 4: England of the Euros. Not that he played much, but
- 18:51Speaker 4: that means the holiday starts at the end, so he
- 18:55Speaker 4: missed his pre season for most of it comes back
- 18:58Speaker 4: kind of you play cashap little bit if you're established
- 19:01Speaker 4: international and everything you used to it.
- 19:03Speaker 3: You know how it works for him is the first
- 19:04Speaker 3: one really.
- 19:06Speaker 4: The other thing is I think I just wonder how
- 19:08Speaker 4: much he thought maybe he was going to move out
- 19:11Speaker 4: of Custon Palace this summer, and if maybe that can
- 19:14Speaker 4: have a bit of a bit of an impact on
- 19:16Speaker 4: his performances.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I don't know. I just think that.
- 19:21Speaker 4: There's other options for me, like that is just slightly
- 19:24Speaker 4: more expensive that I'm more guaranteed in bracket for returns
- 19:29Speaker 4: than is it right now, I just don't know fitness
- 19:31Speaker 4: White ways exactly.
- 19:33Speaker 3: I don't.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I don't think Palace have had an amazing precision either
- 19:37Speaker 4: a west Ham w we will talk about later with
- 19:40Speaker 4: full Kruk. So I'm just I'm not Yeah, I'm not
- 19:43Speaker 4: too too sure. But later in the season, no problem,
- 19:46Speaker 4: because if he shows that he's on great form and
- 19:48Speaker 4: that Palace are doing well like the finished last season,
- 19:51Speaker 4: then yeah, for sure.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Right now, I'm not too convinced.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Sami still has locked on him.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I am. I think so. A lot of really
- 19:59Speaker 2: liked the thing for Palace.
- 20:00Speaker 5: I think he'll have to be talismanic, and he's approached
- 20:04Speaker 5: this season because you know, without Elise, he will be
- 20:07Speaker 5: their focal point in the midfield. So I'm still there
- 20:11Speaker 5: and I also think that by going in with him,
- 20:13Speaker 5: if it doesn't go well, it's relatively easy to move around.
- 20:17Speaker 5: And I do still believe that game week one should
- 20:19Speaker 5: be about price points for a lot of the picks
- 20:22Speaker 5: that you make. It's about making sure that you have
- 20:24Speaker 5: flexibility across your squad to move as much as you
- 20:26Speaker 5: need to in game weeks one, two three, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 5: up until the point where you choose to play your
- 20:30Speaker 5: wild card, it's having those little moments where you can
- 20:33Speaker 5: go ES's not performed well, I'll getting a different player
- 20:36Speaker 5: in this sort of six to seven price point. Or
- 20:38Speaker 5: if I've kept some money in the bank, maybe I
- 20:39Speaker 5: can get up to a bow. And if he starts
- 20:41Speaker 5: the season well, or an Anthony Gordon or whoever it is,
- 20:44Speaker 5: I think Es will have a good season. Whether he
- 20:47Speaker 5: hits the ground running. I mean, he got what sixty
- 20:49Speaker 5: one minutes I think in this one, so enough time
- 20:52Speaker 5: to kind of get his legs back in after the summer.
- 20:54Speaker 5: But I think for me, he's still staying.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I tell you what.
- 20:58Speaker 1: At this point, let's go through our teams as they stand,
- 21:01Speaker 1: because we've hinted at some of the changes or some
- 21:03Speaker 1: of the players that have survived are tinkering so far
- 21:07Speaker 1: and sam Runners through your team. Then I'm saying runners
- 21:09Speaker 1: through role. In fact, tell us your changes from last week,
- 21:12Speaker 1: and then we'll go through your teams, just so that
- 21:13Speaker 1: the regular listeners can hear where you're at.
- 21:15Speaker 5: I mean, there's been quite a lot of changes, to
- 21:17Speaker 5: be fair, because I needed to find a route to Solanky,
- 21:22Speaker 5: so I made some changes and they were minimal, and
- 21:26Speaker 5: it basically evolved taking the zero point five million that
- 21:31Speaker 5: I had in the bank, investing that up top, and
- 21:34Speaker 5: then finding another million. So I basically took Kuleseski out
- 21:37Speaker 5: and swopped him for smith Row. So that was the
- 21:39Speaker 5: easy route to doing it. But that does, as I
- 21:41Speaker 5: said before, leave me with a team that I feel
- 21:43Speaker 5: is weak across the midfield in terms of price points
- 21:47Speaker 5: to move elsewhere, because it's basically Salah and then Essays
- 21:50Speaker 5: the next most expensive, and then after that it's budgets
- 21:53Speaker 5: all the way. So my current draft doesn't have Salar
- 21:58Speaker 5: in it anymore, which.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I had to wait twenty two minutes for this bombshell.
- 22:04Speaker 1: No, she did allude to it earlier. I thought I
- 22:08Speaker 1: thought this was coming, George. We've turned her for weeks.
- 22:10Speaker 1: She's going to try to turn me into the Sala
- 22:12Speaker 1: and Sad we need it and now now here we are.
- 22:15Speaker 1: All it takes is a signing for Spurs, unsurprisingly, and
- 22:18Speaker 1: it's all changed.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it would be very disappointed in you, but anyway,
- 22:22Speaker 3: let's go.
- 22:22Speaker 5: I know he's not going to be friends with me anymore,
- 22:25Speaker 5: but it does. The thing is what I was looking at.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Kind of the basic point was who do I think
- 22:31Speaker 5: he's going to score more? If I have Salah and
- 22:34Speaker 5: then you know somebody like her. I don't know a
- 22:37Speaker 5: budget player in the kind of six five and a
- 22:39Speaker 5: half bracket do I think they can outscore Jotta and
- 22:42Speaker 5: Soccer Because that's the alternative. I think soccer will have
- 22:46Speaker 5: another really really good season. It gives me on Arsenal
- 22:49Speaker 5: player that I've been massively lacking in every draft that
- 22:51Speaker 5: I've had so far. So yeah, my actual new draft
- 22:55Speaker 5: has changed quite a lot.
- 22:56Speaker 2: There's very few of them.
- 22:58Speaker 1: That go through that, then go through that from the
- 22:59Speaker 1: whole way through, go through your whole squad.
- 23:01Speaker 5: Okay, so by not having Salam anymore, it means that
- 23:05Speaker 5: I can afford to have Saliba. So I've got Henderson
- 23:08Speaker 5: backing goal and then a back three of Vardi, Ol
- 23:11Speaker 5: Saliba and Pedro Poro. Midfield of soccer jottaes A and
- 23:16Speaker 5: then smith Row and then a forward line of Harlan
- 23:18Speaker 5: d second Slankey with a four point zero goalkeeper on
- 23:24Speaker 5: the bench and then Barcoe, Winks and Robinson from Fulham
- 23:28Speaker 5: as the three subs. So the sub bench is weak,
- 23:31Speaker 5: but they are all players that are going to start
- 23:33Speaker 5: the season.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Okay, you said to me the other day, didn't you
- 23:36Speaker 1: when we were on the fantasy shot. Teams are going
- 23:38Speaker 1: to be quite similar. They are quite similar, and I
- 23:40Speaker 1: think they'll probably end up being more similar Jews, what
- 23:43Speaker 1: about yours?
- 23:44Speaker 4: So I made three changes compared to last week, Jigo
- 23:46Speaker 4: Jotta coming in for Anthony Gordon, who because I've got
- 23:51Speaker 4: Isaca France. I just feel that the double as long
- 23:55Speaker 4: as I've got one of them too, I think it's
- 23:57Speaker 4: fine because I think both of them will have a
- 23:59Speaker 4: really good season like Newcastle. So that was the the
- 24:03Speaker 4: only way I could do Jota was to get rid
- 24:05Speaker 4: of Gordon, so I think that's fine. Ganacho for Elliot
- 24:09Speaker 4: and then Solanki for Darwin.
- 24:10Speaker 1: From Okay, run through your hosted them.
- 24:12Speaker 4: So Fleck and Ariola the two goal keepers and I've
- 24:14Speaker 4: got Poro Barcos, Saliba, Conca and Davis from Ipswich. In
- 24:20Speaker 4: midfield Saka Kudu's, Jota, Garnacho and Bob and then Solonkey,
- 24:25Speaker 4: Harland and Isak Okay.
- 24:26Speaker 1: It feels like we've got quite similar starting elevens, just
- 24:28Speaker 1: with maybe some different benches. She's got a few differentials
- 24:31Speaker 1: in there. Though my defense is not set, and it
- 24:35Speaker 1: probably won't. I think I'm going to have to sacrifice
- 24:37Speaker 1: Gordon as well to enable me to upgrade my defense.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I'm on Ariola and Flecken as well, Gay Heek, Vardio
- 24:44Speaker 1: Concert Barso Mosquerra. Then in midfield, I've got Saka, Jotta Za,
- 24:50Speaker 1: Gordon Winks and up from the front three that everyone's
- 24:54Speaker 1: got isaks A Lanky and Harland. And on the topic
- 24:58Speaker 1: of the front three, this time last week you were
- 25:01Speaker 1: also saying you were very excited to see how much
- 25:03Speaker 1: the new west Ham and Fool Cruk was gonna lost.
- 25:05Speaker 1: What did you make of the price that he came in.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Up, Yeah, seven million.
- 25:09Speaker 4: I was a little bit this. I thought it was
- 25:10Speaker 4: going to be slightly less. I thought it could be
- 25:12Speaker 4: there for six point five. He's got a tooth missing,
- 25:14Speaker 4: So just for that, I thought, okay, knocking zero point
- 25:16Speaker 4: five million, and that's fine, but I.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Guess feel sorry for more so we can have exactly
- 25:23Speaker 1: and fixes too.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think he loves the fact that he
- 25:26Speaker 4: doesn't have a tooth there, so you know.
- 25:28Speaker 3: But anyway, he's a Champions League finalist.
- 25:30Speaker 4: He's a you know, euro Whatever they did with Germany,
- 25:34Speaker 4: I can't even remember. So so it's fine, it's fine,
- 25:37Speaker 4: seven million, I get it. But when I see a
- 25:40Speaker 4: Solanki seven point five Promeniy provens called twenty one goals
- 25:43Speaker 4: last season, even if with Solanki you just never really
- 25:48Speaker 4: know in terms of consistency because he's had some bad
- 25:50Speaker 4: season in the Promedic two, I still would rather pay
- 25:53Speaker 4: the little bit more for Solonkey then go for full
- 25:56Speaker 4: Kruk and west Ham. By the way, I had a
- 25:58Speaker 4: really bad preseason, which doesn't mean anything when the season starts.
- 26:01Speaker 4: I'm just saying that they haven't been great and the
- 26:04Speaker 4: lope so far, and ful krugis just arrived, hasn't really
- 26:08Speaker 4: played yet.
- 26:08Speaker 3: With these new teammates and stuff.
- 26:10Speaker 4: So I think it feels like so long ky is
- 26:12Speaker 4: the stepfer bet anyway you feel like.
- 26:14Speaker 1: You've got a little bit of optimism around west Ham,
- 26:15Speaker 1: like the fact that you've gone with Kudos in midfield.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Yeah, because I think what they've building, certainly in terms
- 26:20Speaker 4: of recruitment is really really good and I like lopetag
- 26:23Speaker 4: you a lot. And again I'm not sure how much
- 26:25Speaker 4: she reads into preseason performances matches. Not everybody was there
- 26:29Speaker 4: or everybody was fait all of that, so.
- 26:31Speaker 3: We'll have to see.
- 26:32Speaker 4: But the good thing with Kudus, as what Sam was
- 26:34Speaker 4: mentioning a little bit for, is that if Kudzus doesn't
- 26:38Speaker 4: start well, it's easy to change. There's a lot of
- 26:40Speaker 4: six point five million midfielders who are very good in
- 26:42Speaker 4: the game. So if Kudus is not there off west Ham,
- 26:45Speaker 4: just take a bit of time to hit the ground running,
- 26:47Speaker 4: then you can easily swap swap him for somebody else
- 26:50Speaker 4: who's good or started well.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Yeah, West Timer team. I haven't really looked at Sam automatically.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I looked at Bowen's price when he came out because
- 26:58Speaker 1: of what he did last season, but the whole into
- 27:00Speaker 1: national thing and the fact that he's at a congested
- 27:02Speaker 1: price point in the game meant that I didn't consider
- 27:06Speaker 1: him for long at all. Have you looked at any
- 27:07Speaker 1: of their players at all?
- 27:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I always look at Jared Bowen and
- 27:11Speaker 5: I think he is so important to that west Ham team.
- 27:15Speaker 5: And you know he has only played sixty seven minutes
- 27:18Speaker 5: in preseason. He only played in the last one and
- 27:20Speaker 5: in that game he got a goal and and assists,
- 27:21Speaker 5: like he has always has that impact on that west
- 27:25Speaker 5: Ham team and he is a he's a big game player, right,
- 27:28Speaker 5: So you know, I think when you look at it,
- 27:30Speaker 5: it's a difficult game to start the season against aston Villa.
- 27:32Speaker 5: He scored against them last time around and got sixteen
- 27:35Speaker 5: girls and six assists one hundred and eighty two points. Like,
- 27:37Speaker 5: I think Bowen went a little bit under the radar
- 27:40Speaker 5: last season, and I think he will go a little
- 27:42Speaker 5: bit under the radar again this season. And it won't
- 27:44Speaker 5: be threety four of Jared Bowens. It'll be because we're
- 27:47Speaker 5: all talking about these other players in the same price
- 27:49Speaker 5: points because of Jotta and everything else. So I am
- 27:53Speaker 5: definitely looking at west Ham. I always like Max Kilman.
- 27:56Speaker 5: I think he's always a good pick in fantasy and
- 27:58Speaker 5: under the Patagi side, and usually they are quite solid defensively,
- 28:02Speaker 5: and so if they start the season with some more
- 28:05Speaker 5: solid defensive performances than we've seen in preseason, then there'll
- 28:09Speaker 5: be a defense that I look to invest in because
- 28:10Speaker 5: I'm like you two, I'm not going to go for
- 28:12Speaker 5: Arioda this time around. But yeah, I mean all eyes
- 28:16Speaker 5: on west Ham. They're another team a bit like Manster
- 28:18Speaker 5: United for me that I'm going to wait and see
- 28:20Speaker 5: how they start the season before I invest. But they're
- 28:23Speaker 5: definitely on the radar.
- 28:24Speaker 1: George, you mentioned him earlier. Pedro Netto has gone to
- 28:27Speaker 1: Chelsea for big money. We know what pedro Netto could
- 28:31Speaker 1: do in a Wolves team that wasn't the most attacking
- 28:33Speaker 1: at times. He's a brilliant, brilliant player, but there feels
- 28:37Speaker 1: like there's quite a lot of uncertainty in terms of
- 28:39Speaker 1: where he fits into this side, how Chelsea going to do.
- 28:43Speaker 1: As you've said, would he be someone that's just on
- 28:45Speaker 1: your watch list at the moment.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so.
- 28:47Speaker 4: The problem, as it says, the fitness really last season.
- 28:50Speaker 4: Even last season he had a good season because I
- 28:52Speaker 4: think there's nine as seas in the Premier League and
- 28:53Speaker 4: three or four gored or something like that in twenty
- 28:56Speaker 4: four games. But there's there's more games that he missed
- 29:00Speaker 4: through injury this season. The two seasons before that it
- 29:03Speaker 4: was even worse. I think he played ten games and
- 29:05Speaker 4: fifteen games or something like that.
- 29:06Speaker 3: In the Premier League, you can't.
- 29:08Speaker 4: You need players who are reliable in this game otherwise
- 29:10Speaker 4: you can't.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Keep changing and transferring, et cetera, et cetera.
- 29:14Speaker 4: So Neto in terms of talent, no problem, but I've
- 29:18Speaker 4: got issues with the fitness and other question mark around
- 29:21Speaker 4: his fitness all the time, and also the fact out
- 29:23Speaker 4: as we've been saying Chelsea right now, I'm not still
- 29:27Speaker 4: very much a work in progress and they've got a
- 29:30Speaker 4: lot of options. They're going to buy more players, They've
- 29:32Speaker 4: signed a lot of players already. I'm not sure if
- 29:35Speaker 4: Mareska knows where he's stronger. Starting eleven is right now.
- 29:39Speaker 4: So yeah, I would not put him in the squad now,
- 29:43Speaker 4: but just keep an eye on him and just to
- 29:45Speaker 4: finish on west Ham. They sang John clairk to Dbo,
- 29:47Speaker 4: the French center back. Yes it's only four point five million, No,
- 29:50Speaker 4: don't want four point five million. I think it's really
- 29:52Speaker 4: really interesting and he's from Paris and we even played
- 29:55Speaker 4: in the same club in Paris not the same times
- 29:58Speaker 4: because I'm slightly older than him, slightly just the twenty years,
- 30:02Speaker 4: but that's fine, you know, but we still played for
- 30:05Speaker 4: the same team.
- 30:06Speaker 3: So yeah, he's a Litla boy like me.
- 30:08Speaker 4: So yeah, maybe I'm going to do my old Paris
- 30:12Speaker 4: starting eleven as you know, very soon. But yeah, yeah,
- 30:17Speaker 4: I think I think I think he's got a really
- 30:19Speaker 4: good case because, like some said, if they are solely defensively,
- 30:22Speaker 4: which I think the Tie can do easily, then I
- 30:26Speaker 4: think at that price to the boys, becomes a very
- 30:29Speaker 4: very attractive pick.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Sam.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Someone that you mentioned is in your team now, Emil
- 30:34Speaker 1: smith Row I can't remember because my memory is useless.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Had Smith Rowe signed for Fulham at the time of
- 30:40Speaker 1: our last recording.
- 30:41Speaker 2: I feel like he had.
- 30:42Speaker 3: We mentioned him, I.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Think, yeah, I feel like we have mentioned. We knew
- 30:45Speaker 2: that he was it was maybe happening.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so I think we spoke about him, but
- 30:50Speaker 1: his price point for what we know he can produce
- 30:54Speaker 1: at Arsenal, I'm not surprised that you've you've brought him
- 30:57Speaker 1: in because he could be big in that film. So
- 30:58Speaker 1: I know, so you had me at one point, didn't
- 31:00Speaker 1: you in your draft Obviously a lot of people now
- 31:03Speaker 1: aren't going to have Munas but will maybe have wanted
- 31:06Speaker 1: him as third forward. Smith Row's another nice way of
- 31:08Speaker 1: getting into that Fulham attack and maybe getting a share
- 31:11Speaker 1: of the goals potentially that Munas could score, because you'd
- 31:14Speaker 1: presume that he'll link up with smith.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Row as well.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Absolutely, and I think what you just said is exactly
- 31:19Speaker 5: how my thought process went. It was I need to
- 31:20Speaker 5: take out it is because I want to put in Slanky,
- 31:23Speaker 5: but I don't want to deinvest in Fulham because I
- 31:26Speaker 5: like the idea of having Fulham for those opening fixtures
- 31:29Speaker 5: that they have, and we spoke about fixtures a lot
- 31:30Speaker 5: last week and they're so nice for Fulham to start
- 31:32Speaker 5: this season that I still wanted to be invested there.
- 31:35Speaker 5: So yeah, I mean he's played one hundred and twenty
- 31:37Speaker 5: six minutes in them in preseason. He's got a couple
- 31:39Speaker 5: of goals for them already. Like you said, we do
- 31:41Speaker 5: know what he can do. He has done that asked
- 31:44Speaker 5: in the past. He's been so unlucky and when he's
- 31:46Speaker 5: been Arsenal with injuries and then we're getting back into
- 31:49Speaker 5: the team because Arsenal have been playing so well that
- 31:51Speaker 5: it's been difficult for him to kind of break through. Yeah,
- 31:54Speaker 5: I mean what last season he made three starts, came
- 31:57Speaker 5: on a further ten times off the bench, But when
- 32:00Speaker 5: he was coming off the bench, he was coming off
- 32:01Speaker 5: in like the sixty eighth, seventy eighth, eightieth minutes. It
- 32:05Speaker 5: wasn't like he was getting loads of time. But he
- 32:07Speaker 5: did average five points per start when he was at
- 32:10Speaker 5: Arsenal last time around.
- 32:11Speaker 2: So if he can can.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Bring that form that he has and stay fit and
- 32:17Speaker 5: get regular starts and all of those are big potential
- 32:20Speaker 5: butts I suppose, But in that volumn team I would
- 32:23Speaker 5: expect that he will get regular starts, then I think
- 32:27Speaker 5: he could be a really really nice option and he's cheap,
- 32:29Speaker 5: So from that perspective, I think at five and a
- 32:32Speaker 5: half he offers good value for a starter in that
- 32:35Speaker 5: Fulham team with great fixtures.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Any other non Parisian signing ruels that I've forgotten that
- 32:41Speaker 1: you want to shout.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Out No with the fabric from Liverpool to Branford is
- 32:45Speaker 4: one to keep an eye on because it's quite low
- 32:48Speaker 4: price and we probably have some a couple of much
- 32:50Speaker 4: the United boys coming in in the Licht and Mazawi
- 32:53Speaker 4: especially more than the lit I think Mazawi as an
- 32:55Speaker 4: attacking full back, depending on his price, if the transfer
- 33:00Speaker 4: goes through and everything. I think mass how we could
- 33:02Speaker 4: be again quite interesting if you're looking for if the
- 33:07Speaker 4: price is right, and you're looking for somebody who would
- 33:10Speaker 4: keep a few clean sheets there and there, but more
- 33:12Speaker 4: importantly attacking wise, is one of those defenders, one of
- 33:15Speaker 4: those fullbacks.
- 33:16Speaker 3: I think Masawe could be good. So at the moment,
- 33:18Speaker 3: that's the three that I wrote down.
- 33:20Speaker 1: How aware are you some of signings that happen this week?
- 33:25Speaker 1: And it can the slanky ones a prime example, isn't
- 33:28Speaker 1: it of how it can actually completely throw our whole teams?
- 33:31Speaker 1: And in a way, thank goodness that Posta Cooglo and
- 33:33Speaker 1: Spurs got that signing done last week rather than even
- 33:37Speaker 1: even after the deadline or after game week one, because
- 33:39Speaker 1: we'd have had to restructure things around a little bit.
- 33:41Speaker 5: Yeah, and we saw this last season, right, And some
- 33:44Speaker 5: managers will make signings in the final week and then
- 33:46Speaker 5: they won't start in the first game week and that's fine,
- 33:48Speaker 5: but Pasta Coogloo and Spurs don't tend to do that.
- 33:51Speaker 5: I mean, we signed Mickey Van Dervenluk three days before
- 33:53Speaker 5: the start of the season last year, and he still
- 33:54Speaker 5: got the start in that one, So I think you
- 33:57Speaker 5: have to be a little bit mindful of that. But
- 33:59Speaker 5: it's not just about the player that comes in. It's
- 34:01Speaker 5: also about the players that potentially either lose out and
- 34:04Speaker 5: don't start, who have been playing in pre season, or
- 34:07Speaker 5: the ones that shift position and end up playing somewhere different.
- 34:10Speaker 5: So it's just making sure that you keep like really
- 34:13Speaker 5: really close eye on what's happening ahead of game week one,
- 34:17Speaker 5: and then making sure that your team is reactive to
- 34:20Speaker 5: that because you can't do anything about it once game
- 34:23Speaker 5: week one hits. You're just going to have to use
- 34:24Speaker 5: your transfers to make those changes. But it's worth looking
- 34:28Speaker 5: at who might come in and even if it happens
- 34:31Speaker 5: after the deadline, who might it be that's going to
- 34:34Speaker 5: change the way that your team is, and then trying
- 34:36Speaker 5: as best as you can to maybe plan for that.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Okay, so keep an eye out. There could be another
- 34:42Speaker 1: Slanky on the horizon to throw up our whole entire teams.
- 34:45Speaker 1: That'll be fun, mindset. Okay, I think I said last week,
- 34:48Speaker 1: but Differential of the Week has been so successful and
- 34:51Speaker 1: so entertaining for those of us that get to watch
- 34:54Speaker 1: on as Sam and jewels the vastal that we are
- 34:56Speaker 1: going to do it again. A reminder a differential players
- 34:59Speaker 1: that are owned but under ten sense of the game.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Who won last season? Guys me, Sam's putting her hand up. Yes,
- 35:04Speaker 1: Sam wanted, Yeah, you beat.
- 35:07Speaker 5: Me over all, but I won the differentials, Okay, Jeels,
- 35:10Speaker 5: I think it's time winning.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure, I've got a great I've got a
- 35:15Speaker 4: great one to start with, no surprise, really, but I
- 35:20Speaker 4: was going to let you.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Go first because some actually won. But you've already it's Shota.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Oh, come on, seven on the ship, Sam, Hold on
- 35:30Speaker 2: a sec.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Sam is the one that kind of writes the basis
- 35:32Speaker 1: of our script here differentials. At this stage of the season,
- 35:35Speaker 1: I've got another one for you.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Then I've got another one for you.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Well, to be fair, I did have Jotta as one
- 35:42Speaker 5: of my options, so I'm not going to go too
- 35:44Speaker 5: heavy on him for this because I also had a
- 35:47Speaker 5: similar thought.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I've got a better, better one.
- 35:49Speaker 4: I've got a better one I'm going to give you
- 35:52Speaker 4: because you're not happy.
- 35:53Speaker 2: With my You never come with two either. This is
- 35:56Speaker 2: amazing over new leads.
- 36:00Speaker 4: It's sort about planning, talent and vision. If you want
- 36:04Speaker 4: to finishersand in the world, you know what you have
- 36:07Speaker 4: to do.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Just tell us your differential.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Brighton incredible preseason, very good Lasson a fin nod online
- 36:14Speaker 4: from Newcastle. Good signing from Brighton five point five million,
- 36:18Speaker 4: which is really really cheap in the game for midfielder
- 36:21Speaker 4: owned by one point three percent of the managers so
- 36:24Speaker 4: far and everything away. Okay, not the easiest of a fixture.
- 36:29Speaker 4: I give you that for Brighton and the new coach
- 36:31Speaker 4: and the new team in a way. But I just
- 36:34Speaker 4: think that he has been electric so far in prison.
- 36:38Speaker 4: It was in the last friendly against Villa where he's
- 36:40Speaker 4: called again. He's got an iconic celebration. So I hope
- 36:43Speaker 4: we get to see the celebration this weekend.
- 36:45Speaker 2: Okay, I like that one. That one was better.
- 36:46Speaker 1: But Diogo Jotta, that feels like the kind of differential
- 36:50Speaker 1: that Sam would pick that you would shout out.
- 36:52Speaker 4: I mean, she picked habits like four times last season somehow,
- 36:55Speaker 4: and you let her.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Wow.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Wow, I've just I've laid out my stool there, I've
- 37:01Speaker 1: set my stall out. I'm being strict to this season.
- 37:03Speaker 1: I want proper differentials, and you gave us one their duels.
- 37:06Speaker 1: So well done, Sam can and then the title.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Still I picked just to annoy him.
- 37:12Speaker 1: No, I won't allow that. Defense of your title starts
- 37:18Speaker 1: now commences.
- 37:19Speaker 2: It starts here. Yes, it starts with Jared Bowen as
- 37:22Speaker 2: the first one of the season.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And I think nothing for making a face, I'm not well.
- 37:28Speaker 2: No, I think Bowen counts. So who's got boring in
- 37:31Speaker 2: their teams?
- 37:33Speaker 3: Seven of like nine million players, nobody has jeels.
- 37:36Speaker 5: By the time game we won starts, Josh is going
- 37:38Speaker 5: to be owned by a lot more than ten percent,
- 37:40Speaker 5: right now, Okay.
- 37:42Speaker 1: We should have Okay I didn't do this in advance,
- 37:43Speaker 1: but maybe we should have said this week that it's
- 37:46Speaker 1: players that they can't have had a brilliant season last
- 37:49Speaker 1: year because because Owen wasn't a differential.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Last year, he was one of the main players. No, Sam.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Also, I think we might have exposed the one week
- 37:59Speaker 1: where Sam's only come with one player.
- 38:01Speaker 5: I've got three, so I've got I had jotter By,
- 38:04Speaker 5: who I knew Jules would pick, so I was like, well,
- 38:06Speaker 5: I'll pick another couple. So then I picked Bowen because
- 38:10Speaker 5: I think you'll be brilliant, and then my other one
- 38:12Speaker 5: is smith Row, so I can go Smith tell you what.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Let's do for this week. I'm just gonna sorry, I'm
- 38:17Speaker 2: just going to rewrite the rules.
- 38:18Speaker 1: We're both allowed two differentials, so you can have Jotter
- 38:21Speaker 1: and Bowen as your first differentials. I'm saying that it's
- 38:24Speaker 1: not proper differentials. And then I want to deeply dive
- 38:28Speaker 1: differential though. Gone see deep dive differential with smith Row. Yeah, okay,
- 38:33Speaker 1: but you've got two. You can have Bowen is your
- 38:34Speaker 1: first one like Jews has got. Jotter is his first one.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Okay, So Bowen and Smith throw against time minte.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 1: I don't know what this is going to do for
- 38:42Speaker 1: the scoring system. It's probably completely screwed up being fair
- 38:45Speaker 1: because both of you went for differentials that are technically differentials.
- 38:50Speaker 1: But in terms of the wider picture, I don't really
- 38:52Speaker 1: feel like differentials. Smith Row is actually owned by more
- 38:55Speaker 1: of the game than Bowens.
- 38:58Speaker 2: That's mad, isn't it.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Yeahs to be less than ten percent.
- 39:02Speaker 5: So yeah, he is nine point seven. He's more than
- 39:05Speaker 5: Smith Rowy is owned by Jotter. He's owned by more
- 39:08Speaker 5: than Jared Bowen. He's owned by more than Week one,
- 39:11Speaker 5: and differential of the week is in disarray.
- 39:14Speaker 2: This is because you've changed the rules.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Oh no, But I feel like by both of us
- 39:18Speaker 1: hammering Jost, we've kind of we've set ourselves up here
- 39:22Speaker 1: a bit.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Sam. I didn't hammer Jotter. I've got him as one
- 39:24Speaker 2: of options as well, but I'll go with smith Row.
- 39:26Speaker 2: It's fine.
- 39:27Speaker 5: So he got like I said earlier, he got just
- 39:29Speaker 5: three starts last season. He only played four hundred and
- 39:32Speaker 5: thirteen minutes for Arsenal, but he's already done one hundred
- 39:34Speaker 5: and twenty six for Fulham in preseason and scored two
- 39:37Speaker 5: goals for them. Like I said, when he was paying
- 39:41Speaker 5: for Arsenal, he got two assists and he was averaging
- 39:44Speaker 5: five points per start. Now you have to kind of
- 39:46Speaker 5: take that with a little bit of a pinch of
- 39:47Speaker 5: salt because he did only start in the three games.
- 39:49Speaker 5: But when he does start, he does tend to get
- 39:51Speaker 5: some attacking returns in that one and I think you know,
- 39:54Speaker 5: if you look at what's happened in preseason, he's come in,
- 39:57Speaker 5: he's already made quite an impact on that form team,
- 40:00Speaker 5: and I would expect that that would continue. And they've
- 40:03Speaker 5: got really nice fixtures going into this early part of
- 40:06Speaker 5: the season. So I think he's a differential that works
- 40:08Speaker 5: for game week one, but when you are picking a
- 40:11Speaker 5: deafer game week one, you do want them to kind
- 40:13Speaker 5: of be decent for the few weeks that follow as well,
- 40:16Speaker 5: So I think he's one that you could hold relatively
- 40:17Speaker 5: long term.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Two.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Okay, good luck working on the scoring for that, to
- 40:20Speaker 1: be honest.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Because that's my job, so that'd be no.
- 40:23Speaker 5: I know.
- 40:23Speaker 1: That's why I was thinking, not only if I killed
- 40:25Speaker 1: your differential, I've also killed the scoring as well. But
- 40:28Speaker 1: just in the interest of fairness, you can both have
- 40:30Speaker 1: two this week, a differential and a differential captaincy. Then
- 40:35Speaker 1: are we all going to be going Harlem? Because that's
- 40:37Speaker 1: not the easiest fixture. But when you spend fifteen million
- 40:40Speaker 1: on a player, sounds hard not to captain him, doesn't it.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Jeels, Yeah, it does.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Although I'm really tempted by Jogo switch away from Liverpool
- 40:49Speaker 4: because of the form, because like we said, I think
- 40:51Speaker 4: Liverpool already they really are, and because he's differential, and
- 40:55Speaker 4: because yeah true, because I think a lot of people
- 40:58Speaker 4: are going to go for for hallan captain as well,
- 41:00Speaker 4: so I don't know Isak at home to Southampton or
- 41:05Speaker 4: Gordon if you have Gordon as you as your Newcastle player,
- 41:08Speaker 4: it's also very tempting. So for now it's on Jota,
- 41:12Speaker 4: but it might change to Harland or maybe even a Sak.
- 41:15Speaker 5: Yeah some nice options this week, isn't there some? Yeah,
- 41:18Speaker 5: mine's on Esak at the moment, but it could yet
- 41:20Speaker 5: move to Harlan because you know it's Harlan. I also
- 41:25Speaker 5: really love the idea of waiting to Monday night for
- 41:27Speaker 5: a captain and like, actually, if you've got a son,
- 41:30Speaker 5: his record on a Monday evening fixture it is ridiculous,
- 41:33Speaker 5: by the way, so you could you could look at
- 41:35Speaker 5: him on Monday evening if you want to go there.
- 41:37Speaker 5: But I think for me, if I had Salah, he'd
- 41:40Speaker 5: be in the conversation. But we all know I hate
- 41:42Speaker 5: captain and someone in the twelve thirty and just I
- 41:44Speaker 5: just don't enjoy it. And Liverpool don't tend to travel
- 41:47Speaker 5: well on the twelve thirty kickoff either historically, but it
- 41:50Speaker 5: is under a new manager and maybe times have changed.
- 41:53Speaker 5: I think Harland end up captain in Esak sounds so
- 41:56Speaker 5: interesting light I can't believe we've got the end of
- 41:58Speaker 5: the podcast that mentioning him. He's someone else that's probably
- 42:00Speaker 5: going to be a victim in terms of ownership of
- 42:03Speaker 5: that Solankee signing, isn't he? Because before Solanki signed, he
- 42:07Speaker 5: was a really nice option too, and he was steadily
- 42:09Speaker 5: growing in ownership. So he was kind of at this
- 42:12Speaker 5: eight when preseason started, where all of the other premium
- 42:16Speaker 5: options were in by like thirty percent of the game
- 42:18Speaker 5: and he was eight percent, and I was like, what
- 42:19Speaker 5: is happening? And then as preseason has gone on, his
- 42:23Speaker 5: ownership has steadily increased, and then it's taken a little
- 42:25Speaker 5: bit of a hit since the Solanki move because people
- 42:28Speaker 5: are thinking, well, why do I need to spend ten
- 42:30Speaker 5: when I could spend seven and a half on the
- 42:32Speaker 5: Spurs forward? And is all of that kind of internal
- 42:36Speaker 5: negotiation that you do with yourself, that's how much do
- 42:38Speaker 5: I need to spend on each club? And I think
- 42:41Speaker 5: Solanki will harm Son's ownership. So if you do have him,
- 42:45Speaker 5: he is going to be, although not officially a differential
- 42:47Speaker 5: because I think at the moment he's about eleven percent owned,
- 42:50Speaker 5: he will be a relatively good differential. If he was
- 42:53Speaker 5: a differential you'd have one hundred percent picked him. Oh
- 42:56Speaker 5: TOTALENTI and then.
- 43:00Speaker 2: We did two types of differentials this week, guys, come on.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Okay, so this is something that isn't in our plan,
- 43:05Speaker 1: and we do have to wrap up the podcast right now,
- 43:06Speaker 1: but we this is one of the first seasons in
- 43:08Speaker 1: a wild summer we haven't done any predictions, and I
- 43:11Speaker 1: just think it's quite nice to do it. So let's
- 43:13Speaker 1: just predict who we think is going to be the
- 43:15Speaker 1: highest scoring FPO player of the season. Jews, who do
- 43:19Speaker 1: you think it's going to be?
- 43:21Speaker 3: I would go put you on the spot here, I
- 43:26Speaker 3: give you.
- 43:27Speaker 5: I do think it will be Harlan Boringly. I think
- 43:29Speaker 5: you'll have a really good season this year.
- 43:31Speaker 3: I know I don't want to.
- 43:34Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I told you last week you went
- 43:36Speaker 4: fishing Salomon and stuff cutting trees.
- 43:43Speaker 3: Okay, Highlands.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Well that was a nice boring, was it? And who's
- 43:49Speaker 1: going to finish top out of us three? I'm gonna
- 43:52Speaker 1: I'm going to back Sam.
- 43:53Speaker 3: To retain this last season. I can't remember some super
- 43:57Speaker 3: Friends talent vision and planning.
- 44:01Speaker 2: I'm going to go for I'm going to go for Sam,
- 44:04Speaker 2: Jewles Kelly.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I'm really backing myself, Jeels, You're going to go for Jeels,
- 44:09Speaker 1: Sam Kelly probably, Yeah, Yeah, I need to.
- 44:12Speaker 4: Win this again to show that last season was not
- 44:14Speaker 4: fluke and then and then Sam at some point can't
- 44:17Speaker 4: be as bad as she was last season for most
- 44:19Speaker 4: of it.
- 44:19Speaker 3: So she finished second.
- 44:21Speaker 4: And you, Kelly, because you know, you do all your
- 44:23Speaker 4: transfers like five minutes before deadline every time.
- 44:26Speaker 2: I just love a panic, don't know.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Yeah, but all three of us will be in the
- 44:29Speaker 3: top fifty thousand in the world.
- 44:31Speaker 1: This is this is my board product, that's my that's
- 44:33Speaker 1: my that's my target as well. Actually yeah, I was
- 44:37Speaker 1: kind of at points floating towards it, but points floating
- 44:40Speaker 1: outside the top one hundred. So yeah, Sam, why do
- 44:42Speaker 1: you think we're all going to finish? And what do
- 44:44Speaker 1: you want to finish?
- 44:45Speaker 2: Overall? What's your target?
- 44:47Speaker 5: Our teams are going to end up being quite similar again,
- 44:49Speaker 5: So if I have a good season, you'll have a
- 44:51Speaker 5: good season. That's how I feel all the time.
- 44:54Speaker 3: That's why.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but I beat her last season, so why would
- 44:56Speaker 1: I copy her?
- 44:57Speaker 5: Exactly? We just think the same way, Kelly, that's all it.
- 45:01Speaker 5: I mean, I've got to have a best season. I
- 45:03Speaker 5: can't do this again.
- 45:05Speaker 2: I can't again. Maybe you should start copying me, Kelly.
- 45:13Speaker 5: It's impossible for someone to copy you because you make
- 45:15Speaker 5: your transfers two minutes before the deadline, so nobody can
- 45:18Speaker 5: copy what you're doing.
- 45:19Speaker 1: And there's some ridiculous places on this YouTube thing. Now
- 45:21Speaker 1: I've just forgotten that we're actually on YouTube, and I'm
- 45:24Speaker 1: making all these like pointing at you.
- 45:26Speaker 2: I need to start.
- 45:26Speaker 1: In fact, I'm going to end the podcast here before
- 45:28Speaker 1: embarrassing myself. So Sam, you think, are you going to
- 45:30Speaker 1: are you backing yourself to finish on top of the
- 45:31Speaker 1: three of us?
- 45:32Speaker 5: Yeah, surely and then me bottom. No, I'll beg you
- 45:36Speaker 5: to finish above Jewels this year. Cal Yes, and what's
- 45:40Speaker 5: your target? It's always top ten K and I need
- 45:43Speaker 5: a good season after last year. Okay, very best of
- 45:46Speaker 5: luck with it, guys.
- 45:47Speaker 1: This is it, This is where we begin. Then how
- 45:51Speaker 1: long would you say your drafts are a percentage wise?
- 45:53Speaker 2: Jewels?
- 45:53Speaker 1: Jewls is playing basketball again. For those of you not
- 45:55Speaker 1: tuning it on YouTube, I know.
- 45:56Speaker 3: This should be it. This should be it, now, should
- 45:59Speaker 3: be it.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm in decisive. You're more indecisive than me. The
- 46:04Speaker 1: amount of times you go. I'm going to captain.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Saturday one captain see, but there will be no changes
- 46:09Speaker 3: now to the team.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Between now and no changes.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Why would I change unles somebody gets injured our training,
- 46:17Speaker 3: But otherwise.
- 46:18Speaker 1: I'm going to check your team and check I told
- 46:20Speaker 1: you your account to you, Sam how.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Locked fifty to fifty? I reckon? I am, Oh, well,
- 46:28Speaker 2: you know what I'm going to do.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Your favorite I'm going to let you go and finish
- 46:30Speaker 1: that team. Because it sounds like you've got a word
- 46:32Speaker 1: to do. You've got a lot of time to do
- 46:33Speaker 1: this week. Jews has got forty seven thousand other podcasts
- 46:36Speaker 1: to be on, So we'll let you go one minute,
