Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome into this week's episode of Inside the Charge. I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: Maddi Glab and in today's episode, we've got veteran linebacker
- 0:06Speaker 1: Shaq Thompson joining us. It's fitting Shaq is on this
- 0:09Speaker 1: week because the Bills are playing the Carolina Panthers in
- 0:13Speaker 1: Week eight. Thompson spent his first ten years in the
- 0:16Speaker 1: NFL with the Carolina Panthers. Now comes to Buffalo in
- 0:20Speaker 1: year eleven, reuniting with Sean McDermott. Yes, coach McDermott was
- 0:25Speaker 1: Thompson's defensive coordinator when Thompson played with Carolina. Now they
- 0:30Speaker 1: reunite ten years later. Shaq talks about how special it
- 0:34Speaker 1: is to be back with Sean McDermott and how he
- 0:37Speaker 1: always wanted to before he retired play for Sean McDermott
- 0:41Speaker 1: as a head coach. It's easy to see that Thompson
- 0:45Speaker 1: fits in in Buffalo for multiple reasons. He's known as
- 0:49Speaker 1: being a hard hitter on Buffalo's defense. Thompson details why
- 0:53Speaker 1: he's known for doing that and the type of leadership
- 0:56Speaker 1: he's brought to Buffalo's defense. We also dive into a
- 0:59Speaker 1: lot more you guys are gonna like this episode. He
- 1:02Speaker 1: is a great character and a great player so far
- 1:05Speaker 1: for the Bills this season. Shack, thanks for coming on
- 1:15Speaker 1: and hanging out with us a little bit post practice.
- 1:19Speaker 1: You're welcome, Shack. You're in your first season with the Bills,
- 1:25Speaker 1: but you fit in so quickly. It feels like you
- 1:28Speaker 1: belong to this team, and you have belonged here for
- 1:31Speaker 1: a while. Why is that?
- 1:33Speaker 2: I think it's just the person who I am. To me,
- 1:37Speaker 2: I think I make friends easily, you know what I mean.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I'm a good character type of person, football first, you know.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And when you come to a culture and an organization
- 1:48Speaker 2: that's all football first, and you bringing a guy who's
- 1:51Speaker 2: also football first, I think the connections always there, you know.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And I played against most of these guys in my
- 1:57Speaker 2: ten years in Carolina, so I gotta feel for just
- 2:00Speaker 2: like as a football player, but not really as a person,
- 2:02Speaker 2: but just as a person.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Man. All these guys have been great. You know. This
- 2:05Speaker 3: is the This is the type of organization, type of
- 2:07Speaker 3: culture that you need in this type of sports.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You know, I'll probably say all sports you need people
- 2:12Speaker 2: who are free, funny themselves, but just also love the
- 2:16Speaker 2: game of football, you know. And I think that's probably
- 2:19Speaker 2: why I fit in here. Well, you know, I got
- 2:22Speaker 2: you say, I was raised when I got to the
- 2:24Speaker 2: league in this culture. When I say culture like mcdermot's
- 2:29Speaker 2: type of culture that he brought here to where it's
- 2:32Speaker 2: just a player led team and you let the players
- 2:35Speaker 2: leave the team because at the end of the day,
- 2:37Speaker 2: it's the players that are in between.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Those white lines.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And that's probably why I think I fit here, you know,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and I just be myself. Like when I first got here,
- 2:46Speaker 2: I was a little quiet because I really know everybody,
- 2:48Speaker 2: you know. I was just talking to the linebackers because
- 2:50Speaker 2: that was my group. Right Then as you get going,
- 2:52Speaker 2: you start meeting new people. You start talking to people
- 2:54Speaker 2: and you start asking them what they like, what they watch,
- 2:57Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Then you just start getting to know each other.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Then you go through training camp, you go through battles,
- 3:01Speaker 2: you go through all that injuries and all that type stuff,
- 3:03Speaker 2: and that's when you kind of just bring it together
- 3:05Speaker 2: and get to know somebody.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You said, you're yourself here. Bill's Mafia doesn't know Shaq
- 3:10Speaker 1: Thompson too well yet. Who is Shaq Thompson is a person?
- 3:14Speaker 2: Uh, I'm a very relaxed, homebody type of person. Okay,
- 3:22Speaker 2: I come off, I might look like I'm rude or
- 3:25Speaker 2: you know what I mean, just because sometimes I look
- 3:27Speaker 2: a certain way, like I don't want to be bothered.
- 3:29Speaker 2: But just come up to me and say hi. You know,
- 3:31Speaker 2: I'll speak to you. I have a conversation with you.
- 3:34Speaker 3: You know.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I asked how you doing, ask your name and stuff
- 3:36Speaker 2: like that. But uh, you just got to come meet
- 3:39Speaker 2: me honestly, then you can. I'll let you be the
- 3:41Speaker 2: judge of.
- 3:42Speaker 3: That, you know what I mean.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I don't really like to talk a lot about myself,
- 3:45Speaker 2: you know what I mean. I'm just me at the
- 3:48Speaker 2: end of the day, I'm just me.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Sean McDermott called you a winner today in his press conference.
- 3:53Speaker 1: What's your reaction to that?
- 3:55Speaker 2: As you can see, there's no reaction, you know. But
- 3:57Speaker 2: in the inside, I'm happy, you know what I mean.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I need to ask him what does he mean by that?
- 4:03Speaker 3: You know?
- 4:03Speaker 2: But I think it's just a mentality type of thing, right,
- 4:07Speaker 2: playing through injuries, playing hurt, going out there finding a way,
- 4:10Speaker 2: you know what I mean, like a hamstring.
- 4:13Speaker 3: You know. They asked me every day I'm good, just
- 4:15Speaker 3: I'm good. I'm gonna go out there. I'm gonna fight it.
- 4:16Speaker 3: I'm gonna play through it.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I'm gonna do what I gotta do, and just being
- 4:20Speaker 2: honest with myself and being honest with him. If I
- 4:21Speaker 2: can't do it, I'm gonna let you know, you know
- 4:23Speaker 2: what I mean. I think that's like a winner's mentality
- 4:26Speaker 2: that he probably likes, you know. And that's what we
- 4:28Speaker 2: I hate to keep bringing up back then, but that's
- 4:30Speaker 2: kind of how it was back then, just seeing when
- 4:32Speaker 2: I was a rookie, just seeing all these vets fight
- 4:34Speaker 2: through injuries, fight through this, you know what I mean,
- 4:36Speaker 2: sacrificing what could be a career injury, career ending injury,
- 4:41Speaker 2: you know what I mean, just to go out there
- 4:42Speaker 2: to play one game, you know what I mean. So
- 4:44Speaker 2: just having that mindset, that winning mindset was like, man,
- 4:46Speaker 2: now's gonna nothing's gonna stop me from getting on that field.
- 4:49Speaker 2: And I kind of got a model like if I
- 4:51Speaker 2: could walk, I could play. It doesn't matter what it is.
- 4:54Speaker 2: If it's an ankle and I'm walking, you know what,
- 4:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna take what I gotta take, and I'm gonna
- 4:59Speaker 2: go out there and I'm gonnaive hi all, you know.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And I think that's just the mindset that I have,
- 5:03Speaker 2: And I think that's what he means by like that
- 5:05Speaker 2: winning mindset, you know what I mean? Like whatever it is,
- 5:08Speaker 2: you just can't.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Be stopped a winner's mindset. Eleven years in the NFL,
- 5:13Speaker 1: How have you lasted in the league this long?
- 5:16Speaker 2: I would say, just doing every doing all the little
- 5:19Speaker 2: things right.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:20Speaker 2: The biggest thing is, I think what people misconstrued is
- 5:23Speaker 2: not being able to be coachable, right, Like you gotta
- 5:27Speaker 2: be you gotta be able to be coachable. Right if
- 5:28Speaker 2: they tell you something one time that you're going to
- 5:30Speaker 2: do it right and not gonna go off and do
- 5:33Speaker 2: anything else.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:34Speaker 2: We used to call it a repeat offender. Somebody you
- 5:36Speaker 2: tell them to do it right the first time and
- 5:39Speaker 2: they keep doing it wrong, You're a repeat offender, right.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Those guys don't usually last long in the league.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:43Speaker 2: And being a good character type of guy, right, Like,
- 5:46Speaker 2: you don't want no no bad character type of guys, right,
- 5:50Speaker 2: No donkeys on your team? You know who's going to
- 5:53Speaker 2: bring you, bring the team down, bring the culture down,
- 5:56Speaker 2: bring the vibes down in the locker room.
- 6:00Speaker 3: When when you.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Guys lose or you lose two in a row, right,
- 6:03Speaker 2: I've been around a lot of those guys who were
- 6:05Speaker 2: cancer Rish right, and those are the type of guys
- 6:08Speaker 2: that you just got to get out your locker room
- 6:10Speaker 2: and get off your team right in order to bring
- 6:12Speaker 2: that back up. So I think that's I think that's
- 6:14Speaker 2: the big That's the biggest thing is being able to
- 6:17Speaker 2: be coachable, playing fast, making plays and being a great guy.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Playing fast, smart and physical is something Buffalo's defense is
- 6:27Speaker 1: known for. Why do you fit in this defense so well?
- 6:31Speaker 3: Because I grew up in the defense.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Not but good to go back to something you grew
- 6:36Speaker 1: up in.
- 6:36Speaker 3: It definitely, it definitely feels great.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Right Like I would never move back to my house
- 6:40Speaker 2: that I grew up in back in Sacramento because I'm.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Over that, you know what I mean.
- 6:44Speaker 2: But here, I always told myself, and I know I
- 6:46Speaker 2: said this in multiple interviews, like before I retired, I
- 6:49Speaker 2: definitely want to play for coach mc dermott, you know.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And that was one thing that was on my list,
- 6:53Speaker 2: and that was one thing I wanted to do before
- 6:55Speaker 2: I retired, was played for coach McDermott as a head
- 6:58Speaker 2: coach because I had him as a DC and he
- 7:00Speaker 2: was a great DC. He was phenomenal He was the
- 7:03Speaker 2: one with just a little bit of words that changed
- 7:05Speaker 2: my career and how I started to become more of
- 7:08Speaker 2: a professional.
- 7:11Speaker 3: As a rookie, you know what I mean.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I'm just taking little tidbits, little nuggets from vets, how
- 7:16Speaker 2: we run on the field, run off the field, you
- 7:19Speaker 2: know what I mean, and stuff like that, just holding
- 7:21Speaker 2: people accountable.
- 7:23Speaker 3: You know.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I remember one time I forgot what we were playing against.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I think the Cardinals maybe, and Roman Harper he was
- 7:30Speaker 2: a safety and I was a young buck out there
- 7:32Speaker 2: at rookie and he goes, just play fast, I'll make
- 7:35Speaker 2: you right. So basically just like hey, whatever you're right
- 7:39Speaker 2: or wrong, just just go and I'll make you right.
- 7:41Speaker 2: So and that just put in my head like all right,
- 7:44Speaker 2: I can trust him, you know what I mean, he
- 7:45Speaker 2: could trust me and just go play fast and play free,
- 7:48Speaker 2: you know. And that's what I try to tell some
- 7:50Speaker 2: of these guys, like you know, sometimes you make your
- 7:52Speaker 2: reach for me, if you get reached, to stay reached,
- 7:55Speaker 2: I'll make you right, you know what I mean. That
- 7:56Speaker 2: way we all play on the same string. Play is
- 7:59Speaker 2: the hardest part is like when you get reached, then
- 8:01Speaker 2: I think you're gonna stay reach, then you try to get.
- 8:03Speaker 3: In your gap. Then we're both in the same gap
- 8:05Speaker 3: and something gets creased. Right.
- 8:06Speaker 2: So I think that's my biggest thing is I just
- 8:09Speaker 2: want to tell these guys like, hey, I'm here to
- 8:11Speaker 2: make you right.
- 8:11Speaker 3: You know what I mean, Just play fast.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I got you, Sean McDermott, and you overlapped in Carolina
- 8:17Speaker 1: your rookie season beginning of your career. You come back
- 8:21Speaker 1: together ten years later. How has coach McDermott changed.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I get this question a lot.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Uh to me, I just think he calmed down from
- 8:31Speaker 2: the yelling raw aspect, right, Like he talks to us
- 8:36Speaker 2: as men, not like he didn't do in Carolina.
- 8:39Speaker 3: He talked to us as men.
- 8:40Speaker 2: But I think it's different when you're a DC tried
- 8:43Speaker 2: to become a head coach, right And I think I know.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I asked him this, I asked him, what made you like?
- 8:49Speaker 3: What changed?
- 8:50Speaker 2: He was like, just seeing just evolving. He's involving with
- 8:52Speaker 2: the game and evolving with treating men as men, you know,
- 8:56Speaker 2: And I respect that because at the end of the day,
- 8:58Speaker 2: we're all men.
- 8:59Speaker 3: You know, whether you're.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Coming in to the league at eighteen nineteen, you know
- 9:02Speaker 2: what I mean, or twenty one, twenty five or whatever.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Right at the end of the day, he's all man,
- 9:07Speaker 2: and he's going to treat this like men and professionals,
- 9:09Speaker 2: and you know he's going to crack down when he
- 9:11Speaker 2: needs to crack down, right, Like, if things ain't going
- 9:14Speaker 2: as well, you know, he's going to come in there
- 9:16Speaker 2: and he's going to make sure everybody understands why we're
- 9:19Speaker 2: doing this a certain way.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Why are we doing this?
- 9:21Speaker 2: Because he wants to make sure we play smart, we
- 9:24Speaker 2: play fast, we play physical, right, and the biggest thing
- 9:26Speaker 2: is play smart.
- 9:26Speaker 3: We got to be out there.
- 9:27Speaker 2: We got to have smart players out there in order
- 9:30Speaker 2: to play in this defense.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Many players say coach McDermott over the years has relaxed
- 9:35Speaker 1: too and has had more fun with his team and
- 9:39Speaker 1: with his players. One of the things we learned about
- 9:41Speaker 1: was the dad joke Fridays. Have you gotten introduced to
- 9:44Speaker 1: those dad jokes?
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah? I gotta. He has.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I think his record he's winning. He hasn't right now
- 9:51Speaker 2: since I've been in there. He has a winning record.
- 9:52Speaker 2: He told some funny jokes. You don't ask me because
- 9:55Speaker 2: I don't remember, but he told me. He told the
- 9:58Speaker 2: team some funny jokes. And he has some I kind
- 10:00Speaker 2: of went over people's head, and he has some that
- 10:02Speaker 2: just didn't make it, you know what I mean. Like,
- 10:05Speaker 2: but I think it's good right just let him know.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Like he's more than just a coach, you know what
- 10:09Speaker 2: I mean. He's also a father figure. He has kids,
- 10:12Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And he also wants us,
- 10:14Speaker 2: the guys who are potentially going to have kids or
- 10:16Speaker 2: have kids like so be a dad still, you know
- 10:18Speaker 2: what I mean. And he just wants to, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 2: give us some tidbits on his low dad jokes.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I respect it. I respect it.
- 10:26Speaker 1: You're known for being a hard hitter. You have had
- 10:28Speaker 1: some tackles this season where there's an audible gasp on
- 10:32Speaker 1: the sideline because of how hard you've taken somebody down.
- 10:35Speaker 1: What mindset do you have to have to do that?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Uh, you kind of got to have a screw loose,
- 10:41Speaker 2: to be honest with you type of mindset. But you
- 10:45Speaker 2: definitely know about a player when it gets to that
- 10:50Speaker 2: contact point.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Whether he speeds up or slow down.
- 10:52Speaker 2: That's how you're going to know what type of player
- 10:54Speaker 2: you have, whether you can rock with him or not
- 10:56Speaker 2: rock with him. I'm I'm one type of player. I'm
- 10:58Speaker 2: that type of player who you can rock with, Like
- 11:00Speaker 2: I'm full on trying to go, trying to take this
- 11:03Speaker 2: dude head off. And that was just from learning from
- 11:07Speaker 2: Thomas Davis, you know, learning from all these old vets. Really, Thomas,
- 11:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna just put it out there. Thomas Davis is
- 11:13Speaker 2: one of the dudes who will come and just smoke you,
- 11:16Speaker 2: you know what i mean, just full on what you
- 11:20Speaker 2: know what I mean. So, like I kind of got
- 11:23Speaker 2: that too from him. You know, it was already in me,
- 11:26Speaker 2: but he just brought it out of me. Like he'll
- 11:28Speaker 2: teach me some of those like hey, back in the day,
- 11:30Speaker 2: like you could literally lay somebody out when the ball
- 11:33Speaker 2: it's like on the other side, you can really lay
- 11:35Speaker 2: somebody out. And that's what he taught me. Now you
- 11:37Speaker 2: can't really do that now some lead kind of got
- 11:39Speaker 2: a little soft. But he's the one who taught me
- 11:42Speaker 2: how to just be more physical. Bring the violence, bring
- 11:44Speaker 2: the pain, because you know, you want to be the deliverer,
- 11:47Speaker 2: the deliverer than the catcher. Like I want to deliver
- 11:49Speaker 2: the I want to deliver the blow and catch the blow.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It's always gonna suck for the person who catches the blow, right,
- 11:54Speaker 2: You're always going to be the one of the oh,
- 11:56Speaker 2: you know what I mean. So I'm trying to be
- 11:57Speaker 2: the one who's trying to I'm trying to also heart somebody.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You said you have to have a screw loose to
- 12:02Speaker 1: do that. What screw is loose for you?
- 12:05Speaker 3: You just kind of just gotta be crazy.
- 12:06Speaker 2: You gotta love the contact, you gotta love the pain,
- 12:08Speaker 2: you gotta you just you just gotta love it, you
- 12:11Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Like some of these.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Guys talk to some guys, They're like, man, I don't
- 12:15Speaker 2: know how you still doing it.
- 12:16Speaker 3: It's just bro, I love it like you know what
- 12:18Speaker 3: I mean. I love it like I.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Go through pain. I'll fight through pain just to be
- 12:23Speaker 2: on this football field.
- 12:24Speaker 1: How do you love it eleven years later? I mean,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you take those blows, it starts to hurt a little bit.
- 12:30Speaker 2: You just gotta get up. Just know it's going quiz.
- 12:32Speaker 2: It's going wear off as soon as you get treatment.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Take care of your body, get some rest, you know
- 12:37Speaker 2: if it's a rough game. But what I kind of
- 12:40Speaker 2: found out was if we gotta seventy play game on Sunday,
- 12:46Speaker 2: my body won't get back until like Wednesday, Thursday, maybe Friday,
- 12:50Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Then I gotta go do
- 12:52Speaker 2: it again, you know. So like I know my body
- 12:54Speaker 2: and I know when to turn it on and turn
- 12:56Speaker 2: it off, you know what I mean. Sometimes I really
- 12:59Speaker 2: resist contact in practice, you know what I mean, just
- 13:02Speaker 2: to get it ready for Sunday.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Learning about your body and learning what it takes to
- 13:07Speaker 1: play in this league for eleven straight years. What is
- 13:10Speaker 1: something that a younger Shack Thompson would do with that
- 13:13Speaker 1: an older Shack Thompson would not.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I would say I would probably take care of my
- 13:19Speaker 2: body a lot more because I back then I would
- 13:24Speaker 2: just go to practice, not stretch, and I do anything
- 13:26Speaker 2: that massage, no ko tap, nothing.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I just I was young, so I'm like, man, my
- 13:30Speaker 3: body's good, you know what I mean.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Then once like I started playing, like year five, I
- 13:35Speaker 2: was like, damn, I should have really took care of
- 13:36Speaker 2: my body a lot more.
- 13:37Speaker 3: You know. But year five I started getting used to it, started.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Doing more massages. Got me a massage therapist. Her name
- 13:44Speaker 2: is Jennifer Jackson Child.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Jennifer.
- 13:46Speaker 2: She really knows like my body takes care of my body.
- 13:48Speaker 2: She watched film on me to let me know, Like
- 13:51Speaker 2: how I'm running. We're at in my hips and my
- 13:53Speaker 2: feet that I need to do get realigned and.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Stuff like that.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So I really got a good group of help outside
- 14:01Speaker 2: of here to help me inside of here, if that
- 14:03Speaker 2: makes sense.
- 14:04Speaker 1: What's the craziest thing you've learned from your massage therapist
- 14:08Speaker 1: in terms of areas of your body that are impacted
- 14:12Speaker 1: more because of the game that you never thought would
- 14:15Speaker 1: be impacted.
- 14:16Speaker 3: It really just be like the hips. Okay, the hips
- 14:18Speaker 3: get aligned a lot.
- 14:20Speaker 2: That's probably mainly just from sleeping, just probably laying on
- 14:23Speaker 2: one side a little bit, But it really just starts
- 14:26Speaker 2: off from the foundation, which is your feet. You know,
- 14:29Speaker 2: making sure your feet and all that stuff is aligned correctly,
- 14:33Speaker 2: because if your feet are not aligned correctly, then everything's
- 14:36Speaker 2: just gonna trickle up to your hamstrings, to your hips
- 14:38Speaker 2: and all that type of stuff.
- 14:39Speaker 3: So you got to make sure all that is aligned
- 14:42Speaker 3: and correct and ready to go.
- 14:44Speaker 1: So, yeah, you spent ten years with the Panthers, obviously
- 14:48Speaker 1: playing against that team this weekend. What's special about going
- 14:52Speaker 1: back to that place?
- 14:55Speaker 2: I think the special thing going back to that is
- 14:58Speaker 2: going back to where it started for me, where I
- 15:01Speaker 2: got drafted to.
- 15:04Speaker 3: But I tell myself.
- 15:07Speaker 2: You know, it's just a regular game, you know what
- 15:08Speaker 2: I mean, They're on our schedule, they're they're they're in
- 15:11Speaker 2: our way for us to get back in that win column.
- 15:15Speaker 2: You know, it's probably not gonna hit me until I
- 15:18Speaker 2: walked into the stadium and going on the visitor side,
- 15:21Speaker 2: you know, just to be real and frank, but at
- 15:24Speaker 2: the end of the day, I'm not gonna be too high.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I'm not gonna be too low and be right there
- 15:27Speaker 2: in the middle. And it's just a game.
- 15:29Speaker 3: I understand. It's a business.
- 15:30Speaker 2: You know, they went a different way, and I came
- 15:32Speaker 2: to an organization who wanted me, you know, especially coming
- 15:35Speaker 2: off a injury like I did last year. And you know, hopefully,
- 15:41Speaker 2: you know, hopefully it's paying off for the organization that
- 15:43Speaker 2: they made a great decision.
- 15:45Speaker 1: How cool is it? You know, ten years later you're
- 15:48Speaker 1: back with the assistant GM and Brandon Bean who drafted
- 15:52Speaker 1: you that is now the general manager with the Bills,
- 15:55Speaker 1: your defensive coin ertor then Sean McDermott is now the
- 15:58Speaker 1: head coach and you are a veteran who's played in
- 16:01Speaker 1: forget lineback.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Coach, Hulk.
- 16:06Speaker 1: That's pretty cool too.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been amazing.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Like I told you and alluded before, like I wanted
- 16:13Speaker 2: to play for a coach McGann before I retired, right,
- 16:15Speaker 2: and and it happened, you know. Fortunately I was over
- 16:19Speaker 2: here and being was here, you know, and I'm excited,
- 16:23Speaker 2: you know, and uh, they know me right, and they've
- 16:26Speaker 2: been seeing my my growth over the years and my
- 16:29Speaker 2: play over the years, and I'm just happy to be here.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Man.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I love this team. I love the city, I love
- 16:34Speaker 2: the organization. When people say talk about Buffalo, I tell
- 16:39Speaker 2: me your dad, that's wrong. You know, Buffalo is one
- 16:41Speaker 2: of those cities that you need to go to and
- 16:43Speaker 2: you need to be a part of the best football
