- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL in
- 0:07Speaker 1: partnership with iHeartRadio.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Hey everybody, welcome to the NFL Power Ranking Show. We
- 0:12Speaker 2: are presented to you by Energizer from our studios in
- 0:17Speaker 2: Los Angeles. My name is Andrew Siciliano. Other side of
- 0:20Speaker 2: the screen here the man who puts together the Power
- 0:22Speaker 2: Rankings we are now six weeks in. The man who
- 0:25Speaker 2: watches the Cowboys and Chargers on Monday night and says,
- 0:28Speaker 2: why are they doing this to me? I they deadline
- 0:31Speaker 2: to meet Eric at home? How the heck are you?
- 0:34Speaker 3: You know me too well?
- 0:36Speaker 4: Had I had about eight different storylines going in my
- 0:39Speaker 4: notepad there before the game finally ended, and.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I had a little clearer vision at that point.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Were you as excited as that Charger fan, that young
- 0:47Speaker 2: lady making all the faces down there? Were as excited
- 0:51Speaker 2: as her watching that game?
- 0:53Speaker 4: I think being is long in this league, as you
- 0:56Speaker 4: and I have, we don't get quite that animated in
- 0:58Speaker 4: the heat of the action.
- 0:59Speaker 3: But she was having a moment.
- 1:01Speaker 2: It's okay, she was having a moment and there's nothing
- 1:03Speaker 2: wrong with that. It was fantastic and you should see
- 1:05Speaker 2: the Chargers Twitter profile now new profile pick check it out.
- 1:09Speaker 2: He is a professional. He is here for your criticism
- 1:12Speaker 2: and your love. So let's get right to it. Here
- 1:14Speaker 2: your NFL Power rankings again. We are presented to you
- 1:17Speaker 2: by Energizer Scan the QR code, and when you go
- 1:21Speaker 2: to NFL dot com you find the San Francisco forty
- 1:24Speaker 2: nine ers no longer unbeaten. There are no longer any unbeatens.
- 1:28Speaker 2: They are still number one. The Chiefs are two, The
- 1:31Speaker 2: Dolphins hmmm are three? The Lions, yeah, everybody at four,
- 1:37Speaker 2: followed by the Eagles, who also take their first loss,
- 1:41Speaker 2: and then the Jaguars, the Bills, and those Dallas Cowboys
- 1:45Speaker 2: who made that young lady said on Monday night, let's
- 1:49Speaker 2: get to the forty nine ers. They are banged up.
- 1:51Speaker 2: They have injury concerns for not only Trent Williams seems okay,
- 1:55Speaker 2: but for Christian McCaffrey and for Deebo Samuel as well.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I was at that game. I lost my mind doing
- 2:01Speaker 2: Browns Radio. Jake Moody's kick still went wide right if
- 2:04Speaker 2: it goes down the middle, they are still number one.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But something happened in that game. The number one defense
- 2:10Speaker 2: in football slowed them down. Eric they lost for the
- 2:14Speaker 2: first time at a calendar year, and for the first
- 2:16Speaker 2: time this year they were held under thirty. Eric, they
- 2:19Speaker 2: were held under twenty. In my eyes, they are still
- 2:23Speaker 2: number one. Did you have any doubt in taking them
- 2:26Speaker 2: out of the top spot.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I thought about it.
- 2:29Speaker 4: You know, obviously the number one team in my poll loses,
- 2:33Speaker 4: you gotta consider it. Right, Chiefs didn't have a convincing
- 2:37Speaker 4: victory on Thursday. We know the Eagles lost other teams.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I wasn't quite ready to put the Lions up that high,
- 2:42Speaker 4: so there was a discussion in my head. But I
- 2:44Speaker 4: landed with the team that you know, previously looked almost
- 2:48Speaker 4: invincible at times, but has been the most consistent team
- 2:51Speaker 4: in football, and as you pointed out, they were a
- 2:53Speaker 4: mad field goal away from winning this thing. I did
- 2:55Speaker 4: love the fact that the Browns defense outplayed the Niners
- 2:59Speaker 4: defense going against Brock Purty versus PJ.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Walker.
- 3:03Speaker 4: That concerned me a little bit. The first time we've
- 3:05Speaker 4: seen pretty really kind of struggle in an NFL start.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Except for the NFC Championship game where he got hurt.
- 3:10Speaker 4: So you know, there's plenty of debates both ways, but
- 3:14Speaker 4: I still think all said and done, forty nine ers
- 3:16Speaker 4: still have the most complete roster, even if it does
- 3:19Speaker 4: come with a few more questions today than it did
- 3:21Speaker 4: going into Sunday.
- 3:22Speaker 2: And I'm with you, I think for pound they are
- 3:24Speaker 2: still the best fighter in this league. And there's actually
- 3:27Speaker 2: a pregame fight as well. The Browns will tell you
- 3:30Speaker 2: that fired them up a little bit, but they didn't
- 3:32Speaker 2: need that much fire to get ready for this game
- 3:35Speaker 2: out And I think it's notable also that, as always,
- 3:38Speaker 2: they came out first possession and marched right down the field.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Browns kind of caught their breath and then dominated the
- 3:43Speaker 2: next three and a half quarters defensively. But it is
- 3:46Speaker 2: notable that pretty despite the fact Eric that he was
- 3:48Speaker 2: under pressure at the entire game, even with only three
- 3:51Speaker 2: sacks when they needed him, put together that final drive
- 3:56Speaker 2: and got them in position to win the game.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Absolutely, that was a big moment, and that's what I
- 4:02Speaker 4: think championship teams are made of, if they can win
- 4:04Speaker 4: with out their best stuff.
- 4:05Speaker 2: All right. Number two, the Kansas City Chiefs did not
- 4:09Speaker 2: blow out the Broncos at all, but they are your
- 4:12Speaker 2: future champs here presented to you by Fan Duel, and
- 4:15Speaker 2: they are the favorite to win the AFC at plus
- 4:20Speaker 2: to twenty. Did you expect more of a convincing victory
- 4:25Speaker 2: to open up Week six?
- 4:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I think just given the fact even though Denver
- 4:30Speaker 4: had played the Chiefs twice pretty hard last year, pretty
- 4:33Speaker 4: close games, I still figured, Okay, short week Broncos coming
- 4:38Speaker 4: off the disappointing loss, the Jets kind of fell apart
- 4:41Speaker 4: at the end.
- 4:41Speaker 3: There, They've got to go on the road.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a well known opponent for them, they've seen
- 4:45Speaker 4: them plenty of times, but it is a new staff,
- 4:47Speaker 4: Sean Payton coming in there, you know, first time as
- 4:50Speaker 4: Broncos head coach, and you know, everything we'd seen out
- 4:52Speaker 4: of the Denver defense at that point suggested, boy, they're
- 4:55Speaker 4: going to be in trouble.
- 4:56Speaker 3: They weren't.
- 4:56Speaker 4: They made plays, they kept the score close, They gave
- 4:59Speaker 4: their team a chance. It was really the failures there
- 5:02Speaker 4: at the end. They couldn't push the ball forward. You know,
- 5:05Speaker 4: you give the Chiefs defense a lot of credit. They've
- 5:07Speaker 4: kind of held this team together as Mahomes and Kelsey
- 5:10Speaker 4: and Pacheco and the rest of those receivers are all
- 5:13Speaker 4: kind of figuring things out on the fly. I'm not concerned.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Remember they started three and four A couple of years
- 5:18Speaker 4: ago and still made it to the AFC Championship, a
- 5:21Speaker 4: game they should have won too against the Bengals.
- 5:23Speaker 3: So a lot of football left. I still see good
- 5:25Speaker 3: things out of this Chiefs team.
- 5:27Speaker 4: I'd like to see a little bit more, at least
- 5:28Speaker 4: what we've gotten used to seeing over the past couple
- 5:30Speaker 4: of years.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, and they are getting the Chargers in town this
- 5:36Speaker 2: week at Arrowhead with the Chargers coming off the Monday
- 5:39Speaker 2: night loss and a chance to drop the Chargers to
- 5:42Speaker 2: two and four, which would be huge for the Chiefs
- 5:45Speaker 2: there in the AFC West. Let's unpack the Dolphins because
- 5:49Speaker 2: they fell behind fourteen to nothing to the Carolina Panthers,
- 5:52Speaker 2: almost like a little kid playing with their food, sitting
- 5:54Speaker 2: in the high chair, and eventually they woke up and
- 5:56Speaker 2: then you know, destroyed that meal that mom put out
- 5:59Speaker 2: in front of them. But as you point out, and
- 6:02Speaker 2: they're going to be tested this week while unpacked a
- 6:04Speaker 2: little bit more later. As you point out, the five
- 6:08Speaker 2: wins for the Dolphins have come against teams with a
- 6:11Speaker 2: combined five wins, but one really good team they faced
- 6:15Speaker 2: the Bills, they got pasted.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Yeah, there's no ignoring it at this point, right, I
- 6:21Speaker 4: mean the teams that they've beaten up on, including Carolina,
- 6:23Speaker 4: whom they fell behind fourteen to nothing two on Sunday,
- 6:27Speaker 4: haven't been very good elsewhere. You look at other matchups,
- 6:30Speaker 4: you look at every other number. The analytics people are
- 6:33Speaker 4: looking at this and saying, until we see them against
- 6:36Speaker 4: the caliber of the Chiefs and the Eagles over the
- 6:38Speaker 4: next three weeks, that's probably when we're a clearer vision
- 6:43Speaker 4: of what this team is. They haven't played well traditionally
- 6:45Speaker 4: against the Bills, so there might be a little bit
- 6:47Speaker 4: of a flawed metric there.
- 6:49Speaker 3: But still these next three opponents.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Including the Patriots, who have been bad but at least
- 6:54Speaker 4: made a game of it in Foxborough, I would say
- 6:56Speaker 4: the bookend game's carry a little more weight determining how
- 7:00Speaker 4: good is too how good is Tyreek Hill, and how
- 7:02Speaker 4: good is this defense? Andrew I worry a little bit
- 7:06Speaker 4: about the fact that they can give up long drives
- 7:08Speaker 4: and sustained yards over the coast of fourth quarters against
- 7:12Speaker 4: not the greatest offense sometimes.
- 7:14Speaker 2: And yeah, and they get an Eagles team now on
- 7:17Speaker 2: Sunday Night football, coming off their first loss. I mean,
- 7:20Speaker 2: this is the Bills ray massive tests. They failed that test,
- 7:23Speaker 2: and they don't win in Buffalo. We know that Josh
- 7:25Speaker 2: Allen lights up that defense, regardless of whether it's Brian
- 7:28Speaker 2: Flores or Vic Fangio as the coordinator. But the Eagles
- 7:33Speaker 2: are truly now the test for the Dolphins, big stage,
- 7:36Speaker 2: national stage. Obviously that's not going to affect them, but
- 7:39Speaker 2: they get an Eagles team coming off their first loss.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Let's get out of the Lions at four. And I
- 7:44Speaker 2: said this before. When you take the Niners and the
- 7:46Speaker 2: Eagles and you say these are the two best teams
- 7:48Speaker 2: of the NFC, for my money, it's clear to me
- 7:51Speaker 2: the Lions now are the third best team. And we
- 7:54Speaker 2: have said this, they're the team you don't want to
- 7:55Speaker 2: face in January. Now you have them ahead of the Eagles.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But the Lions are legit as a top five team
- 8:05Speaker 2: in football.
- 8:06Speaker 3: It's a new day, man.
- 8:07Speaker 4: It's really exciting to see a team that has been
- 8:09Speaker 4: down for so long have sustained success. And this isn't
- 8:12Speaker 4: some fluke thing, right, We've seen the progress built over
- 8:15Speaker 4: a couple of years. They came into this season with
- 8:17Speaker 4: high expectations based on what happened the second half of
- 8:20Speaker 4: last year, and that was without a good defense. Guess
- 8:23Speaker 4: what they've really improved that side of the ball. Kudos
- 8:26Speaker 4: to Aaron Glenn. You know, they've really found ways to
- 8:28Speaker 4: replace guys like CJ.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Gardner, Johnson. Brian Branch has been out a few weeks
- 8:32Speaker 3: as well.
- 8:33Speaker 4: So you know, every few weeks, whether it's on defense
- 8:36Speaker 4: or offense, they seem to suffer one of those injuries
- 8:38Speaker 4: in mid game where you think, all right, what are
- 8:40Speaker 4: they gonna do now? And that happens Sunday with Montgomery,
- 8:43Speaker 4: he goes out, they have to forge a run game together. No,
- 8:46Speaker 4: Jamiir Gibbs, Jared Goff is playing really good football and
- 8:49Speaker 4: that defense completely closed the door on the Bucks. So man,
- 8:54Speaker 4: every time out. The Seattle game was a little frustrating defensively,
- 8:57Speaker 4: but every time out you feel like they're making strides
- 8:59Speaker 4: defensively and Jared Coff's, you know, confidence and their confidence
- 9:03Speaker 4: in him continues to grow.
- 9:04Speaker 2: And they lose Dave of Montgomery in this game. Consider
- 9:07Speaker 2: also what it was worth there for the Buccaneers. I mean,
- 9:09Speaker 2: this was a chance for them to prove their worth
- 9:11Speaker 2: as well home, a chance to come up and wait class.
- 9:14Speaker 2: And yes, the Lions are now a test for those
- 9:16Speaker 2: other teams in the NFC a measuring stick, if you will,
- 9:20Speaker 2: how good are we? I think it's also interesting this
- 9:23Speaker 2: week when the Lions go into Baltimore. That game is
- 9:26Speaker 2: in the early window on Sunday. The Ravens are a
- 9:28Speaker 2: good team. I mean, they needed Justin Tucker in a
- 9:31Speaker 2: seventy yard Devin Duverne punt return there to do the
- 9:34Speaker 2: job against the Titans in London. But they're coming home
- 9:38Speaker 2: without the bye, maybe some dead legs and maybe some
- 9:42Speaker 2: jet lag. Lions Ravens Week seven, that one is going
- 9:47Speaker 2: to be fun. Now we get to the Eagles. Okay,
- 9:49Speaker 2: they had to lose eventually. I find it interesting how
- 9:53Speaker 2: we kind of justify or explain how they lost, maybe
- 9:57Speaker 2: not justify because we've been nitpicking, or at least people
- 10:00Speaker 2: in nit had been nitpicking Eric in Philly all year
- 10:03Speaker 2: that this team doesn't look right. So they finally get
- 10:06Speaker 2: their come uppins, and now they have to deal with
- 10:08Speaker 2: Elane Johnson injury here as well.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it was tough watching Jack Driscoll his replacement, get
- 10:16Speaker 4: you know, beat repeatedly into second half, and I made
- 10:18Speaker 4: it reminds you just how valuable Aane Johnson is. You know,
- 10:21Speaker 4: we sometimes forget about these core pieces up front, and
- 10:24Speaker 4: when one of them gets hurt, one of them's missing.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Remember they lose Simolo in the off season two.
- 10:30Speaker 4: It looks a whole lot different all of a sudden,
- 10:31Speaker 4: the Star Wars offense has kind of had the jet
- 10:34Speaker 4: field taken out of it.
- 10:35Speaker 3: So, look, Jalen Hurts hats some good moments.
- 10:38Speaker 4: I thought one of the picks should have been on Goddard,
- 10:40Speaker 4: you know, I thought one of them was not.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Necessarily his fault.
- 10:43Speaker 4: The third one absolutely was, and it came in a
- 10:46Speaker 4: critical time. You can't excuse that that was a poor throw,
- 10:49Speaker 4: poor decision. Never should have happen in the situation they
- 10:52Speaker 4: were in trying to protect the lead at that point.
- 10:54Speaker 4: So there's still some stuff that falls back on Hurts
- 10:57Speaker 4: and falls back on a new play caller as well.
- 11:00Speaker 4: You know, it doesn't quite feel and look like what
- 11:02Speaker 4: Shane Stichen was able to dial off last year, if
- 11:04Speaker 4: you're not putting it all on Brian Johnson's head. But
- 11:06Speaker 4: still at the same time, a lot to figure out
- 11:09Speaker 4: their offensively.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I'm going to push back a little bit against Robert Sala,
- 11:12Speaker 2: who did walk his postgame comments back on GMFB Tuesday morning.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts was not embarrassed in that game. Jets defense
- 11:20Speaker 2: played very well, especially with their banged up secondary. They
- 11:23Speaker 2: deserve all the credit in the world. Tony Adams, another
- 11:26Speaker 2: dB from that Oryan Walters dB factory in Illinois, made
- 11:30Speaker 2: a huge play and a big run back there in
- 11:31Speaker 2: the second half. So yeah, give the Jets their credit.
- 11:34Speaker 2: But Jalen Hurts was not in any way embarrassed. And
- 11:38Speaker 2: now we get this one coming up on Sunday, Jalen
- 11:42Speaker 2: Hurts with a chance to bounce back against Vic Fangio.
- 11:46Speaker 2: That defense tested against Tua and Mike McDaniel. How do
- 11:52Speaker 2: you see that one?
- 11:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Fangio's defense I think tests your patience.
- 11:57Speaker 4: You may have watched the Dolphins defense on Sunday and
- 11:59Speaker 4: he said, Hey, Bryce Young was taking you know, six
- 12:02Speaker 4: seven eight yard checkdowns all day. You know what's so
- 12:05Speaker 4: impressive about that. But it's a different story against an
- 12:08Speaker 4: offense that is used to putting up big numbers. We
- 12:10Speaker 4: saw what the Eagles were able to do last year,
- 12:13Speaker 4: and I think that's gonna be something that kind of
- 12:15Speaker 4: tests Jalen's patience and also tests.
- 12:17Speaker 3: The Eagles patients.
- 12:18Speaker 4: We've got to wait for that big play to present itself.
- 12:20Speaker 4: Let's get the favorable down and distance, Let's get a
- 12:23Speaker 4: good field position, Let's get the right score and the
- 12:26Speaker 4: right time on the clock when we take our shots.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Okay, So I think that's going to be part of it.
- 12:31Speaker 4: And then defensively, like you said, they've probably kind of
- 12:33Speaker 4: patched things together in the secondary and hope that pass
- 12:36Speaker 4: rush kind of kind of closes the door up front.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I also want to see what happens if Tyreek
- 12:43Speaker 2: Hill busts out a seventy yard touchdown does take a
- 12:47Speaker 2: cell phone from a Philly fan. Would a Philly fan
- 12:52Speaker 2: help Tyreek Hill celebrate? He wants your fine at FL.
- 12:57Speaker 2: He wants to find a way to celebrate. Bring on
- 13:01Speaker 2: the fine. It'll be fun with Philly fan. That is
- 13:04Speaker 2: why I am watching. You're watching the Power Ranking Show
- 13:07Speaker 2: to find out where the Browns are, of course, or
- 13:10Speaker 2: maybe not, I am We'll tell you coming up next.
- 13:14Speaker 2: All right, everybody, the Power Rankings Show Here. We are
- 13:16Speaker 2: presented to you by Energizer. Go to NFL dot com
- 13:19Speaker 2: see the rest of the rankings. The Ravens hart fought
- 13:22Speaker 2: win in London. They come home up one. They're the
- 13:25Speaker 2: number nine team. Remember two weeks ago they beat the Browns,
- 13:28Speaker 2: who stunned the Niners. They go up to Eric already
- 13:32Speaker 2: liked them. Eric had them at twelve. Now the Browns
- 13:35Speaker 2: are at number ten, the Seahawks, the Bucks, the Bengals
- 13:38Speaker 2: they look good again, the Chargers, the Jets, and the
- 13:41Speaker 2: Houston Texans. The Team of the Week is presented by
- 13:45Speaker 2: truest Eric at home. That team of the week the
- 13:49Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns, who they believed all along. They believed that
- 13:55Speaker 2: they had the best defense in football. I think now
- 13:59Speaker 2: everybody else believes after through five games will include that
- 14:04Speaker 2: Niners victory. They have allowed one thousand and two yards.
- 14:09Speaker 2: That gets Eric.
- 14:12Speaker 3: That's called shutting it down right there.
- 14:14Speaker 4: And I think a lot of people came into that
- 14:16Speaker 4: game thinking, all right, this is gonna be where the
- 14:19Speaker 4: Niners show they had the best defense.
- 14:21Speaker 3: But it didn't turn out that way.
- 14:22Speaker 4: As you said, after that first touchdown Dry where the
- 14:24Speaker 4: Niners moved down the field, you know, maybe a little
- 14:26Speaker 4: help the fact that two of their big playmakers were
- 14:29Speaker 4: out for part of the game. Still, I thought the
- 14:31Speaker 4: way they pursued and flowed and tackled so well covered well,
- 14:35Speaker 4: it was really impressive.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Jeremiah wusukor Moro.
- 14:37Speaker 4: I thought they had some great coverage plays, you know,
- 14:40Speaker 4: Dalvin Tomlinson in the middle, up and down that defense.
- 14:42Speaker 4: Thought they'd had a real terrific performance. And look, you
- 14:45Speaker 4: win with a quarterback you didn't even have on your
- 14:47Speaker 4: roster in July. I think that's a victory on top
- 14:50Speaker 4: of the one you already got in the standing.
- 14:52Speaker 3: So that was huge.
- 14:53Speaker 4: It was what they couldn't do against the Ravens a
- 14:55Speaker 4: few weeks back. So big step for the Browns.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 3: I enjoyed a little shot in freuder with.
- 15:00Speaker 4: People poking holes in my last week's rankings, right, I
- 15:03Speaker 4: saw something Andrew you did too.
- 15:05Speaker 3: You were up close, sir. You know how good this
- 15:06Speaker 3: team can be if that defense is dominating.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was dominant. The question now is is
- 15:13Speaker 2: that a springboard? If you will? They go to Indianapolis.
- 15:16Speaker 2: They're not going to face Anthony Richardson this week, they
- 15:19Speaker 2: get Gardner Minshew. It's a bit of a trap my
- 15:21Speaker 2: opinion here. But remember the Ravens get the Lions, they
- 15:24Speaker 2: could lose that. The Steelers are in La to the Rams,
- 15:27Speaker 2: they could potentially lose that. This is now a chance
- 15:30Speaker 2: to get to four and two and kind of pick
- 15:32Speaker 2: yourself up off the mat and get to the top
- 15:34Speaker 2: potentially of the AFC North. Just here saying, all right,
- 15:40Speaker 2: moving on from the Browns, let's get out of the
- 15:43Speaker 2: rest of these rankings here as we go from nine
- 15:46Speaker 2: down to sixteen and see the Bengals, and we saw
- 15:49Speaker 2: it last week here Eric as well that it wasn't
- 15:53Speaker 2: that they beat Arizona. It's that Joe Burrow was moving
- 15:57Speaker 2: and he looked normal again. He looked like himself again.
- 16:00Speaker 2: We saw that again against Seattle and we saw red
- 16:03Speaker 2: zone defense to hang on and win that game.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Boy, if lou Anroumo's defense is known for one thing,
- 16:11Speaker 4: I think by this point it is making huge plays
- 16:14Speaker 4: when backed up against your own goal line. I mean
- 16:16Speaker 4: Jermaine Pratt against the Raiders years ago, Bond Bell against
- 16:20Speaker 4: the Patriots late in the season, obviously the playoff game,
- 16:23Speaker 4: Sam Hubbard and everything. I mean, you know, they have
- 16:26Speaker 4: a knack for doing this. And five red zone trips
- 16:29Speaker 4: they all add what ten points I want to say
- 16:31Speaker 4: for those totals. So it really did come into play
- 16:35Speaker 4: because as great as Burrow and the offense looked the
- 16:37Speaker 4: first two drives, Cincinnati didn't do.
- 16:40Speaker 3: A whole lot after that. It was a tough slog.
- 16:42Speaker 4: The run game's been inconsistent, the old line blah blah blah.
- 16:45Speaker 4: We know all the issues and somebody else other than
- 16:47Speaker 4: Jamar Chase has to step up. But we're seeing a
- 16:50Speaker 4: little edge with this team now. The defense has responded.
- 16:52Speaker 4: The offense has made, you know, a signal that they're
- 16:55Speaker 4: getting better.
- 16:56Speaker 3: So everything's at least training in the right direction.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Even if they had I'd argue they haven't played a
- 17:00Speaker 4: complete football game quite yet.
- 17:02Speaker 2: No, they haven't. Andreya Shiba, the rookie from Princeton, scored
- 17:06Speaker 2: a touchdown. And again that red zone defense here when
- 17:08Speaker 2: Gino and the Hawks got down and looked like they're
- 17:11Speaker 2: about to go in and potentially win the game. There
- 17:12Speaker 2: at the end of the game, you had six different
- 17:15Speaker 2: guys have at least four pressures, which is just absurd
- 17:20Speaker 2: for lou Anarumo's defense, and they helped win that game.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Let's move on here to the Chargers, who are number fourteen,
- 17:27Speaker 2: and I can't really figure them out because they couldn't
- 17:28Speaker 2: run the ball. Monday night, Austin Eckler came back. They
- 17:31Speaker 2: had fifty three yards rushing as a team, and with
- 17:34Speaker 2: al Corey Linsley Eric these last two seasons, their offensive
- 17:40Speaker 2: line falls apart. That was the most pressure Herbert had
- 17:43Speaker 2: felt in any game all year.
- 17:47Speaker 4: After the finger injury last week, the thumb injury, you know,
- 17:50Speaker 4: so yeah, I mean, it was one more thing kind
- 17:52Speaker 4: of stacked against him. I thought he looked pretty good early,
- 17:55Speaker 4: you know, ball handling, moving around things like that, made
- 17:58Speaker 4: some big throws, but he overthrew Keenan Allen for a
- 18:01Speaker 4: long game in the first half, did so again in
- 18:03Speaker 4: the second half, had the late interception, almost got picked
- 18:07Speaker 4: off with about nine, you know, eight or nine minutes
- 18:09Speaker 4: left to go on that second last possession, So there
- 18:12Speaker 4: was a lot left on the bone there, and I
- 18:14Speaker 4: thought the offensive line was part of it. Penalties were
- 18:16Speaker 4: a big deal. And then defensively, Michael Davis can't tackle
- 18:21Speaker 4: Tony Pollard and he goes sixty one yards or whatever.
- 18:23Speaker 3: So you know, it's just.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Plays like that and the fourth down, fourth and one
- 18:28Speaker 4: play that they didn't convert in the red zone. Week
- 18:31Speaker 4: after week, whether they win or lose Andrew, these plays
- 18:33Speaker 4: seem to keep popping up, so it's self inflicted wounds.
- 18:37Speaker 4: In my opinion, they're talented they just can't execute at
- 18:39Speaker 4: that high level.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, what happens when they lose? If they lose in
- 18:43Speaker 2: Kansas City and fall to two and four, this team
- 18:45Speaker 2: is far better than two and fourth. They had one
- 18:48Speaker 2: last night. Then it's three in a row. After they
- 18:50Speaker 2: own two start they get to three and two. Everyone
- 18:52Speaker 2: is happy here right going into Arrowhead, everyone is happy
- 18:55Speaker 2: with the Jets. Now Aaron Rodgers is throwing without anything
- 18:58Speaker 2: around his achilles. He's going to be back in two weeks.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I'm kidding. The Jets are fifteen because of that defense
- 19:07Speaker 2: and because Zach made a couple of throws. That's all
- 19:09Speaker 2: they need. Eric make a couple of throws, get picks
- 19:11Speaker 2: like this from Tony Adams or anyone of the secondary,
- 19:14Speaker 2: and they will survive.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Yep, no turnovers, that's great, That's exactly what you want
- 19:20Speaker 4: get You take just enough risk to sort of cater
- 19:23Speaker 4: to what Zach does well. Breist Hall has just enough plays.
- 19:26Speaker 4: It wasn't the banner game we saw from him last week,
- 19:29Speaker 4: but still for that defense to create four turnovers and
- 19:33Speaker 4: do so without their top two corners I thought was
- 19:35Speaker 4: really impressive.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Stunning win in.
- 19:37Speaker 4: So many ways, not just against who it came, but
- 19:40Speaker 4: also the way it came, you know, late in the game,
- 19:43Speaker 4: forcing a bad Jalen Hurts throw.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Very impressive stuff from a Jets.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Team that look five plays into their money and I
- 19:50Speaker 4: game a lot of people wanted to bury because of
- 19:52Speaker 4: the Aaron Rodgers injury. Maybe he's back, maybe he's not.
- 19:55Speaker 4: But either way, this team has shown some grit and
- 19:58Speaker 4: some fight, even if it's not the prettiest thing.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Every week you want grit and fight. How about the
- 20:02Speaker 2: Houston Texans. They are making power moves everybody. Those power
- 20:06Speaker 2: moves are presented by Energizer. They are sixteen eric. They
- 20:11Speaker 2: are heading to the buy and they do so at
- 20:14Speaker 2: three and three, only a game back in the lost column,
- 20:19Speaker 2: out of a playoff spot.
- 20:23Speaker 3: They're right there. They're knocking on the door.
- 20:25Speaker 4: You know, we moved them back a little now they're
- 20:27Speaker 4: back in that contention spot.
- 20:29Speaker 3: And yeah, CJ.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Stroud's interception streak end, it was a throw we'd like
- 20:32Speaker 4: to have back. But boy, from that point on, I thought,
- 20:35Speaker 4: not only did the team rally around him, but he
- 20:37Speaker 4: kind of rallied everybody else and you just saw poise
- 20:39Speaker 4: from him. He never looked rattled, you know, he escaped
- 20:41Speaker 4: pressure very well and kept himself composed the entire time.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Didn't make as many throws in the second half, but
- 20:48Speaker 4: you could see a young signal caller out there with
- 20:51Speaker 4: leadership skills and good performance overall. I think and look,
- 20:54Speaker 4: the offensive line did great in the first half. The
- 20:57Speaker 4: defensive line dominated for most of sixty minutes, and they
- 21:00Speaker 4: took a Saints team coming off a big win and
- 21:02Speaker 4: just kind of kept him.
- 21:03Speaker 2: In arms shroud through a pick. But they survived and
- 21:07Speaker 2: they made the right pick in getting him, no doubt
- 21:11Speaker 2: at number two. Coming up on the Power Ranking Show
- 21:14Speaker 2: here presented by Energizer, Where are the La Rams M?
- 21:22Speaker 2: Maybe higher than you thought? That's coming up? It is
- 21:25Speaker 2: your NFL Power Ranking Show. We are presented by Energizer.
- 21:29Speaker 2: The Rams are up five after dominating on the ground
- 21:33Speaker 2: of the second half and beating the Arizona Cardinals. Interesting,
- 21:36Speaker 2: Saints dropped four than the Steelers, the Packers, the Colts,
- 21:40Speaker 2: the Falcons, the Raiders, and the Commanders. Eric at home
- 21:43Speaker 2: putting these all together, let's talk Rams here. If they
- 21:47Speaker 2: beat the Steelers this week, they will How high do
- 21:51Speaker 2: they go? Eric?
- 21:53Speaker 4: Yeah, good question, right? I mean, we've seen Cooper Cup
- 21:55Speaker 4: come back and play great. The wrong game was terrific,
- 21:58Speaker 4: although now all of a sudden the health of Rivers
- 22:00Speaker 4: and Williams are in question. So you know, every week
- 22:04Speaker 4: it feels like, wow, pretty good win there, but and
- 22:06Speaker 4: there's something kind of holding you back. Hupsy injury was
- 22:09Speaker 4: big early. Obviously they've had to shuffle offensive line and
- 22:12Speaker 4: different things like that. But this no name defense has
- 22:15Speaker 4: done a really good job. They fell behind nine to
- 22:17Speaker 4: three and it wasn't an issue on Sunday, really took
- 22:19Speaker 4: over Taylor two halves, right, you throw the ball in
- 22:22Speaker 4: the first, you run it in the second.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Kind of an old school formula there. And I just
- 22:26Speaker 3: can't wait to see two of the two of the
- 22:28Speaker 3: best coaches.
- 22:29Speaker 4: One young, one old old experience instant Mike Tomin I
- 22:32Speaker 4: don't want him getting mad at me, but.
- 22:34Speaker 3: A good matchup this weekend.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I like that.
- 22:35Speaker 3: I like what's at stake in this game.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that game is at so far right here, like
- 22:39Speaker 2: right there through that wall you out there. So they
- 22:42Speaker 2: go up five, the Falcons go down six to twenty two.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I'm gonna pound the table right now for Taylor. Heineke,
- 22:48Speaker 2: I know he gives one to the other team every
- 22:51Speaker 2: time you put him out there. But he's also going
- 22:52Speaker 2: to throw a couple of touchdowns. You're not gonna see
- 22:54Speaker 2: bad body language from the wide receivers. I'm sorry, Desmond Ritter,
- 22:58Speaker 2: you throwing Taylor Heinekey. I think this is the fourth
- 23:01Speaker 2: best team in the NFC, right after the Lions.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Man, it's crazy.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I picked the Lions, or excuse me, the Falcons to
- 23:08Speaker 4: be the division winner in the preseason because I thought, look,
- 23:11Speaker 4: if Ritter is solid middle of the road, they could
- 23:15Speaker 4: be okay. That defense is much better. The run game
- 23:17Speaker 4: could be special with Beijon. It really has, but for
- 23:20Speaker 4: them to fail to cross sixteen points and half their
- 23:23Speaker 4: games so far this season is inexcusable.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I think the defense for the.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Most part has done the job, but it's been Ritter
- 23:29Speaker 4: coming off his best game, taking a big step back
- 23:32Speaker 4: this week on Sunday and you know, just forcing passes
- 23:35Speaker 4: there and worn in the red zone. It was the
- 23:37Speaker 4: kund of performance he most definitely did not need. And
- 23:39Speaker 4: the Falcons have a tough call lying ahead if he
- 23:41Speaker 4: keeps playing this way.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Sorry, Desmond Ridder, real quick. The bottom of the rankings
- 23:45Speaker 2: here for fans of these teams. The Vikings at twenty five,
- 23:49Speaker 2: followed by the Titans, the Cardinals, the Broncos, the Patriots,
- 23:51Speaker 2: the Bears, the Giants, and the Carolina Panthers, who head
- 23:54Speaker 2: into a bye with Frank Wright going sure, Thomas Brown
- 23:57Speaker 2: can call plays and it was all my decision. I
- 24:01Speaker 2: don't think we have enough time to unpack that one.
- 24:03Speaker 2: We could probably do an Eric thank you as always,
