Latest / He's Hot but Something's Off... / HHBSO 9: The Worst Recruiter Ever
Transcript
- 0:01Hello, welcome to He's Hop. But something's off of me.
- 0:03Just Joey T It is Wednesday that I'm recording this.
- 0:08And for those who are watching the video version of the
- 0:12podcast, which is available on Spotify and also on my YouTube
- 0:16channel, Just Joey TI have a sweatband around my forehead.
- 0:21Not because I am sweaty, but it's to push my hair back.
- 0:27For most of my life I've had really short hair.
- 0:29Like most. Guys do, but at the beginning of
- 0:32the pandemic I decided to grow my hair out.
- 0:35Actually there was a face and I was like 8 or 9 years old where
- 0:38I had longer hair. That center split very like mid
- 0:4290s. But early in the pandemic I
- 0:44decided to grow my hair out and then I did it for like 6 or
- 0:50seven months. I didn't have that much to do
- 0:52during the early days of the pandemic anyways and since then
- 0:56I've had. Slightly longish hair in some
- 1:00way shape or form. And then a few months ago I
- 1:02decided to cut it a little bit shorter, maybe back to like a
- 1:06couple inches, and I don't know, like it that much.
- 1:09I'm going my hair out a little bit, but what's really annoying
- 1:12for me is having the hair in my face, like when my hair is long
- 1:18enough where it gets down to. My eyelids or my eyes?
- 1:21I find it really annoying, especially when I'm trying to
- 1:24put my skin cur on and the hair is just like in the way.
- 1:29So in my bathroom I keep one of these sweat bands just where I
- 1:34keep all my product, so that when in the morning or at night
- 1:38when I'm putting on moisturizer or lotion, whatever, I put the
- 1:42ban on to keep my hair like pulled back.
- 1:45And then I can like, do my face. Basically.
- 1:48The other thing you notice if you're watching the video
- 1:50version of the podcast is I've got two mics here today because
- 1:53I'm playing around with some of the audio and there's like
- 1:57something I'm trying to figure out.
- 1:58Very, very techie, very, very technical.
- 2:01But yeah, I just got back from getting groceries and I was like
- 2:07really frustrated getting groceries.
- 2:09And I used to only get groceries when it's night time, when it's
- 2:13not busy. And for whatever reason, for
- 2:16like the last several months I've been going to get groceries
- 2:20doing rush hour. And I was driving back from
- 2:23groceries today and I'm like, I used to do the smart thing to
- 2:27not be out and about doing rush hour to run chores.
- 2:32Why am I doing this now? We're not going to do this
- 2:34again. It's because when I need to go
- 2:37get groceries, I'll drive and. And most of the days I'm going
- 2:42to the gym. So in my head I'm thinking,
- 2:44okay. I need to get groceries, which
- 2:46means I need to drive. So why don't we just combine it
- 2:50with the gym? Because you're going to the gym
- 2:53anyways, so it's an excuse to drive to the gym, basically.
- 2:57So I'll drive to the gym, and then I'll do my gym, and then
- 3:01when I'm done with the gym, it's usually like four, 4:35 o'clock
- 3:06in the afternoon. Then I will drive to the Whole
- 3:08Foods and West Hollywood and I get groceries and I come home.
- 3:12So on paper this sounds great, right?
- 3:14Like if you're going to leave the house for whatever reason
- 3:16anyways. It's like when you're coming
- 3:17home from work, you pick up whatever you need for like
- 3:21groceries or whatever. It's like the common smart thing
- 3:26to do, right? It's not smart for me to go to
- 3:30the gym and then get groceries when it's rush hour and they
- 3:36come back home. For a few different reasons.
- 3:39Number one, I'm very tired after the gym #2 I haven't eaten
- 3:42anything for like two or three hours by then, so I'm hungry.
- 3:46So put those two things together.
- 3:48That means I'm hangry, usually at the end of the gym.
- 3:51And then now you put a hangry Joey into LA rush hour traffic
- 3:57and then you need hangry Joey after having driven in rush hour
- 4:01traffic in Los Angeles to go find a parking spot in a parking
- 4:05lot that is 1/2 small second completely packed 3 where like
- 4:11no one is looking where they're going.
- 4:13I had two cars almost back into me after I parked.
- 4:16Today in that Whole Foods parking lot, that's not like the
- 4:19typical occurrence, but I was like, I parked my car and I was
- 4:22just walking their cars driving by.
- 4:24So I was just walking behind the parked cars.
- 4:27And then this one car, like almost backed into me.
- 4:29And then when I was done getting groceries, walking back to my
- 4:32car, this like massive SUV almost like, again backed into
- 4:35me again. So yeah.
- 4:39These are all the reasons why I'm not supposed to go get
- 4:43groceries in the middle of the day, and I figured this out a
- 4:46long time ago. For some reason there's been a
- 4:49regression. So I'm now reminding myself do
- 4:54not go get groceries in the middle of the day.
- 4:57I used to go at like 9 PM, 8:30 or 9:00 PM on a weekday, like a
- 5:04Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday where like no one's really out.
- 5:08The grocery store is a very lovely place when it's 9:00 PM,
- 5:13like an hour or so before they close.
- 5:14But there's not that many people in there.
- 5:16I don't like going to like the mall.
- 5:20I was talking to a friend recently.
- 5:22I don't like going to a mall. I don't like anywhere where
- 5:25there is people walking slowly, that they're not looking where
- 5:31they're going, and then they'll just suddenly like, stop or
- 5:34change directions or anything like that.
- 5:36It's very trying for me to be in that type of environment.
- 5:41So being in a mall, especially if it's busy, like on a weekend,
- 5:45the last place you find me in Sun Mall, if you see me at a
- 5:47shopping center or a mall on a weekend especially, it's only
- 5:52because there's been some dire emergency and I need to
- 5:56emergency buy something and the only way to buy that thing that
- 6:01I need right now is at that mall.
- 6:05That's the only reason you catch me at a shopping center on a
- 6:09weekend or anytime it's busy. Also, I shouldn't be shopping,
- 6:12but I'm hungry. It's don't go grocery shopping
- 6:15when you're hungry, right? Everyone's learned that lesson
- 6:17by now. Because when you're hungry you
- 6:19go into grocery store, you over buy things.
- 6:22So I think I bought like a few extra things too much because I
- 6:27just went to the gym. I haven't eaten a few hours, I'm
- 6:29tired, I'm really hungry. It's just like throwing
- 6:32everything into the basket, but. Yeah, also in this particular
- 6:37hopeless parking lot, the parking spots are way too
- 6:41narrow. So you get a lot of spots where
- 6:45the cars on either side, they're like on the line.
- 6:49Not because they are horrible drivers, but they're not great
- 6:52drivers, but because the each spot is barely wide enough to
- 6:57like fit your car, where every once in a while you get an empty
- 7:01spot in this parking lot because.
- 7:04Only like the narrowest of cars will be able to fit into them
- 7:06because every spot is just like drawn up, too narrow.
- 7:10It's a it's a parking. It's a parking lot that is
- 7:16basically designed to frustrate you, is too small for all the
- 7:20stores that are there. It's like this like little strip
- 7:22mall thing. It's not just hope, it's like
- 7:23other shops and stuff there. It's too small for all the
- 7:28shopping that is available there.
- 7:31It's. Especially considering it's in
- 7:33the middle of Elway, it's in the middle West Hollywood.
- 7:35And the spots are like too small.
- 7:37And like the traffic control in that place is like horrible.
- 7:40And I usually like driving, but like I used to go driving for
- 7:45fun when I was in college, for example.
- 7:48I would sometimes go out, especially at night time when
- 7:50it's quiet and I would just go on drives just to drive.
- 7:54I don't, I haven't done that in years, literally because.
- 8:00When I'm driving, it's just get to get get to from A to B.
- 8:05And also LA traffic doesn't make, it doesn't make driving
- 8:10fun. It's not fun to drive an LA
- 8:11traffic. It's coming from someone who I
- 8:14love driving, I love cars and to actually get out of the LA
- 8:17traffic so they can actually enjoy the act of driving, you
- 8:20need to be. You need to spend some time to
- 8:22make it way out of LA first. So you need to.
- 8:26It needs to be. At not busy time of the week or
- 8:30the day, it needs to be like at night or something like that.
- 8:33Or get up super early and you need to like get out of Elway.
- 8:36There's no finding roads within LA proper anyway, so you need to
- 8:39like get to the PCH or get like a little bit at least to the
- 8:43edge of the city and then maybe you can find some good roads.
- 8:46There's a lot of good driving roads in SoCal, but I'm just
- 8:51busy enough even though I don't have a day job right now to.
- 8:56Actually go and like, just drive for fun.
- 8:59Also like the the car insurance isn't getting any cheaper.
- 9:02My car just got T boned by a stupid bitch, which I'm still
- 9:06shorting out. So yeah, I used to drive for fun
- 9:10and like, yeah, just LA is just if you live in the middle of the
- 9:14city and you need to get out of the city to drive for fun, yeah,
- 9:17that's it's it takes a lot sometimes.
- 9:20I used to commute an hour each way in LA.
- 9:25Because I used to have a job in Santa Monica.
- 9:27That's where the offices is. Pre Pandemic, it was 45 minutes
- 9:31to drive there in the morning. There's no highways really
- 9:36between West Hollywood and Santa Monica.
- 9:38It's all surface streets and then it be almost an hour to get
- 9:44back. I remember there were a couple
- 9:46of times where it took over an hour to come back from work.
- 9:49That doesn't sound that great. What I mean it doesn't sound
- 9:54that horrible for to take like an hour to get home from a
- 9:57commute in a large place like LA County.
- 10:02But it was 10 miles to the do that commute.
- 10:07The distance was only 10 miles each way. 45 minutes to do a
- 10:12mile is not so horrible if it takes you over an hour in like
- 10:17stop and go traffic. To do 10 miles, like that's a
- 10:21lot of stop and go. So what?
- 10:23Thank God I don't have that job anymore and I well, I don't have
- 10:26any job right now. But I've actually been looking
- 10:29for jobs kind of sort of frequently.
- 10:33I'm not super seriously like searching for jobs like most
- 10:38people would if they were actually looking for a proper
- 10:42job. You know, I I could put more
- 10:44effort into it, but I'm very much.
- 10:48If the right job with the right company appears and I'm
- 10:54interested, then I'll apply. I feel like I'm so much more
- 10:57picky about the type of company that I might want to work for.
- 11:02Am I also totally prepared now mentally to not go back to the
- 11:08IT career? I'm trying to work in some side
- 11:12hustles and I'm also trying to start a business, so I'm ahead,
- 11:17I'm thinking. Well, it's feasible to like just
- 11:21not go back and have to 9:00 to 5:00 and have that paycheck from
- 11:25like a company. But if the right type of company
- 11:31has the right kind of opening available, which is a little bit
- 11:37like needle in a haystack, I feel like most people look for a
- 11:40day job they. Care somewhat about the type of
- 11:45company they are going to apply and might potentially work for.
- 11:49Whereas for me, just given where I am right now and my
- 11:53experiences with the companies I work with, I feel like I am so
- 11:58picky about the type of company that I might want to work for.
- 12:02Not because I think the companies I don't want to work
- 12:04for a bad company. It's just that, for example, I
- 12:06don't want to work for just like a random software company.
- 12:11Like you're running the most tech company like I don't know
- 12:15what what are you doing that's so interesting that makes me
- 12:17want to care about the the, the product or service that you're
- 12:21offering. And I also feel like a lot of
- 12:25companies kind of expect everyone that works for them and
- 12:30applies for them to drink their kool-aid.
- 12:33They add this thing where I feel like a lot of companies
- 12:37especially like startup tech type companies.
- 12:40It almost feels a bit like a cult.
- 12:42It's like they want to hear that you're like so super Gaga over
- 12:47their product or service or their business model.
- 12:50And before you even talk to any of the interviewers, you're
- 12:53supposed to have like done your homework and be so knowledge
- 12:55about what the company does and what they stand for, what their
- 12:58values are. I did one I want call with a
- 13:02recruiter with a very wellknown large tech company.
- 13:09Which I let's keep it nameless, might be more fun that way.
- 13:12And this was a couple months ago and it was for some random
- 13:17position which is up my alley, is kind of the type of IT
- 13:20position I have experienced in that would want to look for.
- 13:25And they actually reached out to me.
- 13:27You know, there are recruiters and HR positions in companies
- 13:30where they will go. See if there any potential
- 13:33candidates out there on like LinkedIn or wherever.
- 13:36So they contacted me, I didn't know about that position and
- 13:40they set up a call. We're telling this recruiter and
- 13:45I just a few, just a few issues here.
- 13:48Number one, I didn't like the way that particular recruiter
- 13:54conducted the call. For example, there's one
- 13:58question where she was saying just very briefly, can you just
- 14:02give me a summary of your experience and encompass you
- 14:06work for since you graduated. So basically like a quick
- 14:10summary of like the the companies that are on my resume
- 14:13basically. And I basically gave her a quick
- 14:16summary, but she literally said like give me like a quick
- 14:19summary. So I only talked for like 45 to
- 14:2360 seconds. And then she was like, well, I
- 14:26wouldn't need more information than that.
- 14:28So if you bitch, if you ask for something quick and you got
- 14:31something quick, I mean don't be a fucking hypocrite.
- 14:35So and then the second thing, I didn't like about her, and I
- 14:39don't like this when I interview candidates or talk to candidates
- 14:42for a company and I've been hiring manager for like a few
- 14:45years now. Even outside of that, I've
- 14:48interviewed like at least over like 100 candidates.
- 14:53Probably maybe like closer to 200.
- 14:54Just in over my entire like work career I've talked to like a lot
- 14:58of potential candidates and I've been in that on that side of the
- 15:02desk where I'm a hiring manager. I'm working with the recruiters
- 15:05in my company trying to decide what do we need for this
- 15:08position, what kind of candidate would be a good fit, discussing
- 15:13different candidate at the final stage and who to actually give
- 15:15an offer to or not, right? This recruiter did one thing
- 15:19that I tried very hard not to do, which is.
- 15:23Fish for certain answers. You want to hear in from a
- 15:28candidate, right? So if you're going to ask a
- 15:32question, if you want to know something about a candidate and
- 15:36you kind of want to know whether they have a specific skill or
- 15:40experience or not, bitch, just ask like do you know a BC?
- 15:45Yes or no? Very straightforward, very easy.
- 15:49This recruiter was not doing that, so.
- 15:52This recruiter, it kind of sounded like she was given a
- 15:57script of questions to ask all the candidates, maybe from like
- 16:00the hiring team or the hiring manager.
- 16:02And I can kind of tell by the way she was reading them out.
- 16:06So she was reading out these questions and then I would give
- 16:09an answer and then she would be like, well, but like what about
- 16:13this type of a thing? So I would be like, OK, oh about
- 16:16that thing, OK, This experience I have or this what I know what
- 16:18don't know about that thing. But then she did that like
- 16:22multiple times and it just really sounded like she could
- 16:27have been a lot more efficient And she said do you know XYZ?
- 16:30That could have been a yes or no question.
- 16:32It would have saved us like a ton of time and not have it feel
- 16:36like we have to make all these detours in this like
- 16:41conversation that is taking way too long.
- 16:43She said I was going to be 30 minute call.
- 16:46It became like 45 minutes only because of her to be really
- 16:49honest. And here's the final kicker with
- 16:52this person which is she asked all these questions, we talked
- 16:56for like over 30 minutes and we're running overtime now and
- 16:59then she's like okay, thanks for your for all the answers
- 17:04actually looking for someone who has like this and we have other
- 17:07candidates that have had have experience of like X&Y&Z and I'm
- 17:12like a bit worried because a BC. I'm thinking like what are you
- 17:19trying to what is the purpose of like fishing for answers but not
- 17:26asking me those things directly and then telling me like, well,
- 17:29I'm kind of worried because you're not second against these
- 17:32other candidates that have like XYZ.
- 17:35If you really, if you knew you needed certain skills or certain
- 17:38experiences for the role, just ask like do you have X?
- 17:44Do you know why you have expensive Z?
- 17:47Like this recruiter was just one of the worst recruiters I've
- 17:50ever talked to honestly. So like this, which is why I'm
- 17:54not going to like name drop this company.
- 17:56But like this person, if I was working, I was on the other side
- 18:00of the table and I was like the hiring team or hiring manager
- 18:03and I shouted her and this is how she was talked to a tenant,
- 18:07I'll be like, I'll pour away privately and I'll be like, OK,
- 18:11this is what I need you to ask and like, you're talking in
- 18:15circles. Like you're you're trying to
- 18:17fish certain answers out of people and you're just hoping
- 18:20that they give you the answer that they want under your vague
- 18:23question. But you're also like trying to
- 18:27slap them on the back of the wrist at the end by telling them
- 18:29like they don't stack up. Or like telling them like
- 18:31basically, hey, I'm fishing you for these answers and you're not
- 18:35giving them to me, so I'm worried about you, so.
- 18:40Yeah, like you don't fish for answers if you're if you're in a
- 18:44position and you in a company where you're asked to hire
- 18:49people or you've been asked to be on the interview panel.
- 18:53Like just think about what qualifications or skills or
- 18:58experience or you know, traits that you need from the person to
- 19:04fill this role makes you have a good understanding of.
- 19:06A role itself. What's needed for that role?
- 19:09Do some research if you're not that familiar with the role that
- 19:12you're in doing for, and then make sure you ask good
- 19:16questions. If there's a particular type of
- 19:19answer that you want to hear. For an open-ended question, that
- 19:22should be a red flag. If you ask open-ended question,
- 19:26it should be an open-ended answer.
- 19:28And sometimes the answer is not so important as how the Canada
- 19:30got there, right, so. I'm not going to join on and on
- 19:34anymore. This wasn't even on my original
- 19:36list of things to talk about today.
- 19:39But yeah, I'm driving. Really gets me going.
- 19:43Don't get me started on like bad drivers again.
- 19:46I told you guys I just had this person that T boned the side of
- 19:50my car and it was like totally not my fault.
- 19:52And now I'm out like thousands of dollars.
- 19:55Not for the repair. This insurance is going to cover
- 19:57it, but like. You know, like no one wants to
- 19:59buy a damaged car. That's been an accident before
- 20:02and I'm in the process to get a new car.
- 20:06Anyways, let's switch topics. The Choice Concert.
- 20:09So I was in Chicago about a week ago.
- 20:13It was last week, Wednesday that I was in Chicago with my friend
- 20:16Eric and went to the Choice Concert twice.
- 20:18A very popular K pop group, mostly the more popular in South
- 20:23Korea. They're getting some popularity
- 20:26in the US, but they're not on the level of like, black, pink
- 20:29over here. It's a really good, really good
- 20:32concert. If you saw me at that concert,
- 20:35like I was fangirling so hard. I legit thought I was going to
- 20:38lose my voice after that concert was over.
- 20:41But like, I my voice was 100% OK afterwards.
- 20:45But it was really cool to like. It's like seeing a celebrity on
- 20:51the street kind of a thing, right?
- 20:52So people that you've only ever seen.
- 20:56On screen or like you hear the music on your phone or whatever.
- 20:59And then when you see them in person, it's like so weird for
- 21:05your head to like put two and two together that oh, like these
- 21:08people's music that I've been like listening to and like their
- 21:11videos that I've been watching so much of on YouTube or on TV.
- 21:16It's like the same people that's like in the same physical space
- 21:20with you right now, they actually play for.
- 21:23I think 2 1/2 or almost three hours was like just from like to
- 21:27start to the stop. They had a few moments where
- 21:31like they did breaks. I'm obviously for like a 2 1/2
- 21:34hour, 3 hour concert, but I was surprised how long the concert
- 21:37went on. We really got like our bang for
- 21:39the buck for it. We were kind of sort of like
- 21:43halfway up the not the bleachers, but it was in United
- 21:47Center in Chicago. It's this huge stadium and then
- 21:52basically you have the seating that's like on like the ground
- 21:56floor like stage level or like little below stage level.
- 21:59And then you have the seating that's like up the side all
- 22:02around the edge of the stadium. You have like the lower level,
- 22:06the mid level and like the upper level.
- 22:07So we're in the mid level kind of on the side.
- 22:10It's really hard to like see. Maybe just look directly onto
- 22:15the stage. It's like a little far away.
- 22:18But honestly, it wasn't that bad.
- 22:20And given that, Eric, thank you for paying for my ticket and let
- 22:24me like, crash in your hotel room.
- 22:26Yeah, but I haven't been to a concert since.
- 22:29This is the second concert I've ever went to.
- 22:31I don't feel like I'm a concert type of a person, really.
- 22:36So even after this concert. Which is a really good concert.
- 22:40And for like pretty much one of the only groups or artists that
- 22:47I actually go to a concert for. Even after that I was like, I
- 22:51don't think I necessarily need to do this all the time.
- 22:55I'm just not a concert type person.
- 22:58But I I did have a really good time.
- 23:00You saw me at the concert, you would be like, this is Joey,
- 23:03this Joey's. It's a very different Joey.
- 23:06Joey is fangirling hard. I was singing to like all the
- 23:09songs that I knew. I was dancing to the ones that I
- 23:12knew the choreography to. So it was actually like a
- 23:15really, really good time. Unfortunately, there's been a
- 23:19lot of weather on the East Coast last week and I5 of United.
- 23:25Unfortunately I5 United not because I like United.
- 23:29Fly with United because they're part of Star Alliance and
- 23:31they've got a lot of really good airlines alliance that I fly
- 23:36with, which is like Singapore Airlines A and a Eva Air to name
- 23:42a few. But that's why I'm actually with
- 23:44United. But United got hit pretty bad
- 23:46with like all the traffic and all like the delays and
- 23:50cancellations and all that kind of stuff last week, so coming
- 23:53back from New York. Like a week and a half ago last
- 23:57episode I talked about how I got delayed and I missed a
- 23:59connection coming back from Chicago last Wednesday from the
- 24:02concert. I also miss my connection
- 24:04because the weather and also like United just effing up
- 24:07everything so they're more flight flight delays.
- 24:10Again, I was on my final flight that got rescheduled to come
- 24:14back to LAX and I was sitting there and then they kept having
- 24:18to. Delayed the flight which is
- 24:21still at the gate this There were thunderstorms in the area
- 24:24and there was lightning and every time there was a lightning
- 24:26in the vicinity of the airport they have to close the ramp.
- 24:30Quote UN quote. It's the term where anyone who
- 24:32is a ground crew at all the ground staff at the airport,
- 24:36including the people that will push the airplanes back from the
- 24:39gate, they will have to like. Take cover and go inside for
- 24:43safety reasons. And then every time there's
- 24:45lightning, they have to do that for like 10 minutes.
- 24:47They start a timer apparently. So we're sitting on this plane
- 24:50for, I think we're staying on the plane for like an hour and a
- 24:52half, almost two hours before from when we boarded to when we
- 24:56actually, like, was able to like, head to the runway and
- 24:59actually take off. But during the hour and a half,
- 25:03this guy behind me was snoring like hardcore, to the point
- 25:07where I like I had my Airpods noise casting earbuds in.
- 25:11And I was like watching a video or something on my iPad.
- 25:15I could hear this guy snore and like he was so loud.
- 25:19I'm sure like half the plane for him snore.
- 25:23It was like really hardcore snoring.
- 25:25I was thinking, I wasn't super annoyed, but I was thinking
- 25:30turning around in my seat and telling him if you stop snoring,
- 25:33I won't. We climb my seat into your face
- 25:34for the whole fight. But I, I, I, I wasn't that
- 25:37adored. I was just thinking of that.
- 25:38I wasn't gonna actually. Say that to him.
- 25:41But he was snoring really, really loud.
- 25:44OK, so to wrap up another episode of the podcast as usual,
- 25:50but not for that much longer. We're coming to the end of the
- 25:51season and talk a little bit. RuPaul's Drag Race, Some stars
- 25:55season eight. I think we're up to episode 9 by
- 25:59now. So we actually have our top
- 26:01three, which is Jimbo, Candy and Jessica and Alexis.
- 26:06Michelle was eliminated this time.
- 26:10This was the Carson Crestley Roast, and one the only thing I
- 26:17really noticed that I want to comment on, it's not about the
- 26:20episode itself, was about some of the comments that were made
- 26:27on this YouTube video that I saw.
- 26:29So at Roscoe's in Chicago, they do a viewing party every week of
- 26:35each episode and it's what's her name.
- 26:40It is blah, blah, blah, blah blah.
- 26:44It's Natia Lopez that hosts it, and every week they have some
- 26:49guests, Drag Queens come on. And this week the guests were
- 26:56Alexis, Michelle and Lala Rhee. So I didn't actually watch the
- 27:00whole replay of the Roscoe's viewing party, but I was doing
- 27:06something on a computer. I was working on something, and
- 27:08I just wanted to have something on the background.
- 27:10So I put on a fan video where they just did highlights of both
- 27:18the episode, but especially of what was said in this Roscoe's
- 27:21viewing party. So in this recap video they were
- 27:26highlighting things that Alexis Michelle said, but it's been
- 27:30kind of controversial. Things that she said and done on
- 27:34the show so far, me and David Lamb.
- 27:36When we found out that Alexis going home this week, we're both
- 27:41thinking. It's about time.
- 27:43Production kept her there until like the top three or whatever,
- 27:47because hey, it's good TV, it's good production, you know,
- 27:51mixing, entertaining. I get it doesn't matter if you
- 27:54know, you have a favorite queen. And whether that's Alexis or
- 27:57not, she was, she's very talented.
- 27:58She's done very, very well. You know, again, objectively, in
- 28:01terms of like her performance, I felt like she did deserve to
- 28:05make it this far. But me and David both kind of
- 28:10saw that. We didn't see Alexis being in
- 28:13like the top three and not winning the crown because we
- 28:17just thought there were other Queens that probably could go
- 28:19for there, which happened to be the case.
- 28:21Alexis went home this week, but apparently, according to this
- 28:25fan recap, the Roscoes. Viewing party thing wasn't like
- 28:31the kindest to Alexis Michelle. It's like there's a live
- 28:35audience there. Roscoe's like a bar, so there's
- 28:37people there all doing the watch party and then they also get to
- 28:41like do a Q&A. So apparently some of the things
- 28:43that Alexis said because obviously going to ask her about
- 28:46like, oh that if y'all had in the workroom with Jimbo and
- 28:51Candy and a Heidi where Heidi said oh like.
- 28:57Yeah, Alexis didn't Candy say this and that about Jimbo, about
- 29:01trying to like, get him out of the competition, blah blah blah
- 29:04blah. And then I guess the good thing
- 29:09is, Alexis had a chance to explain her side of the story,
- 29:15but apparently some of the fans at Roscoe's didn't really buy it
- 29:18and like, so I if I have a lot of time to kill, I'll try to
- 29:24watch it. But yeah, the one thing they
- 29:28kept reiterating as well is this is like ATV show first of all.
- 29:32And I agree with that. You know, the TV shows put on
- 29:35for entertainment purposes. Yes, it is also a competition on
- 29:41the surprise at the end and all that stuff.
- 29:43But you know, first and foremost it is a TV show meant for
- 29:47entertainment and you have to separate a little bit from the
- 29:50TV show itself. To who the Queens actually are
- 29:54outside of the show, because the show is like a bit of like a
- 29:58unique environment. So that I think it's important
- 30:00for all the fans to keep in mind.
- 30:03Like I talked one or two episodes ago about me not being
- 30:09the biggest fan of Les Michelle, and that's fine.
- 30:11You don't have to be in love with every single drag queen.
- 30:14People are going to have their biases and their favorites
- 30:18there. Doesn't mean I.
- 30:20Hate her or I think anything bad should happen to her.
- 30:22Like I said, she's very talented.
- 30:25It's totally legit that she got this far.
- 30:27If you just look at her performances in the various
- 30:30challenges like you know, like she she did well on paper,
- 30:34right? Again, whether you like, whether
- 30:39what a queen said on a particular episode of the TV
- 30:43show or you like. The list that they depict or
- 30:46not, that's partially just a TV show.
- 30:50And again, they're producers. They're nudging things this way
- 30:53or that. You have to detach that a little
- 30:57bit from, hey, what are they like outside of the show, right?
- 31:01But for a lot of people, the only glimpse that they get into
- 31:05a lot of these Queens is. The TV show, right.
- 31:08The TV show, put them on the map, a NASA platform, and you
- 31:10get to be on TV. And for a lot of these Queens,
- 31:14that's how they get their breakout and until, like, the
- 31:18global stage, if you will, right.
- 31:20So yeah, it is what it is. I keep on talking a lot on
- 31:24these. Podcast.
- 31:25So we're at 30 minutes now, so we're going to wrap it up here.
- 31:30But don't be surprised if next week we're we start doing 2
- 31:34episodes a week. Maybe I have to come down to
- 31:36like 20 something 20 minutes or something like that, because I
- 31:40have a list here. Actually, I have my laptop here
- 31:43if you guys have noticed. Watching the video podcast, I
- 31:46have a whole bunch of things I want to talk about.
- 31:49I have like a little bit of outline.
- 31:50You should have a few bullet points.
- 31:52For every episode, this podcast that I record and I bring it up
- 31:55in this doc, all the things that are bullets for this episode
- 32:01actually didn't talk about most of them because I just went on
- 32:03and off for like 3 topics, one of them which was not even on
- 32:08the list at all. And I want to make sure these
- 32:11guys make sure these episodes are kind of lightweight.
- 32:14I don't want to talk for like a full hour.
- 32:15I know you all have other podcasts that you subscribe to
- 32:18and love to hear as well, and I want to keep it.
- 32:21Channel Lights. So yeah, if I make that change,
- 32:24well, make sure you subscribe to the podcast wherever you get all
- 32:27your podcasts. Again, just a video version of
- 32:29this podcast. You want to see Me with my two
- 32:32mics and my headband. This week on Spotify and also on
- 32:36my YouTube channel. Just Joey T But until next time,
- 32:40bye.
