Transcript
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to episode forty of Revellio for March nineteenth,
- 0:16Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. I'm Amy, I'm Nicole, and I'm Liz
- 0:34Speaker 1: Yay Liz our special guest and her debut appearance on Revellio.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I know it's only been on air for like a
- 0:43Speaker 2: year and a bit, and I'm finally here.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Liz is our social media manager, or our social media which,
- 0:53Speaker 1: as we call her, the mastermind behind all of our
- 0:57Speaker 1: wonderful posts. So yeah, we had to bring her on
- 1:01Speaker 1: this episode because she's got insider knowledge of.
- 1:07Speaker 2: She's giving me a face. I don't know if i'd
- 1:11Speaker 2: call it inside or knowledge as much as i'd.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Call it like indent knowledge.
- 1:15Speaker 2: I'm a hater, Okay, well you know I'm a hater
- 1:19Speaker 2: who still plays It's Your Guilty Pleasure mobile games and
- 1:24Speaker 2: we can't wait to hear about it. I don't know
- 1:28Speaker 2: if so, Liz. Since it's your first.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Time on the episode, why don't you introduce yourself and
- 1:34Speaker 1: tell us, you know, like all the fun stuff.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Wow, Okay, I mean to take a leaf out of
- 1:41Speaker 2: Sam's book. I was born in the nineteen nineties, the
- 1:45Speaker 2: nineteen nine yards. Yes, I'm a raven claw even though
- 1:50Speaker 2: half more like thirty three percent of the time I
- 1:52Speaker 2: get sorted as a Slytherin, so I call myself a
- 1:55Speaker 2: slyther claw.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Makes sense?
- 1:58Speaker 2: What else is cool about me? I started reading the
- 2:01Speaker 2: series because my sister gave me a copy of the
- 2:05Speaker 2: first book for my birthday, and it was the August
- 2:08Speaker 2: before Deathly Hallows came out. I was at that point
- 2:12Speaker 2: very very against reading it. I really don't know why,
- 2:18Speaker 2: and she's like, no, you'll like it. She was right
- 2:20Speaker 2: spoiler alert, and here I am, m I random fun fact.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I don't think I've shared this other places, and if
- 2:30Speaker 2: I have, well, too bad. When I first read Deathly Hallows,
- 2:34Speaker 2: it was my elementary school's like copy they'd gotten, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 2: so many copies, and I was like one of the
- 2:40Speaker 2: first people reading that copy. And when we get to
- 2:43Speaker 2: the iconic line of not my daughter, I did, in
- 2:47Speaker 2: fact take it to the librarian and show her the
- 2:50Speaker 2: B word and she, you know, sharp eyed it out
- 2:55Speaker 2: and I feel really bad that generations who then would
- 2:58Speaker 2: read that book wouldn't get to feel the full effects it. Well,
- 3:04Speaker 2: to be fair, I just showed it to the librarian
- 3:06Speaker 2: and she So I still kind of feel bad about that.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I wonder if that book is still out there somewhere still.
- 3:16Speaker 2: You know, maybe in the library. I don't know.
- 3:18Speaker 1: You saved generations of children from that terrible, terrible word.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Well until they like watch the movie and they're like, wow,
- 3:25Speaker 3: that's what.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It was, until they got home and listened to mom
- 3:30Speaker 1: and dad used that word and.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, So you know that was how I contributed to culture. Yeah.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Now I do fun things like this with Harry Potter
- 3:43Speaker 2: and kind of just vibe in the background a lot
- 3:45Speaker 2: doing social media stuff. Because my relationship with Harry Potter
- 3:49Speaker 2: has changed a lot over the years, you know, the
- 3:52Speaker 2: post COVID It's been really weird for me, if I'm
- 3:56Speaker 2: being honest, And I do credit Harry Potter for my
- 4:00Speaker 2: the kinds of fantasy books I prefer, which is usually
- 4:04Speaker 2: school studied or in castles, and it's very hard for
- 4:09Speaker 2: me to read fantasy outside of that, and I fully
- 4:12Speaker 2: blame Harry Potter. So not a bad problem to have.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Not a bad problem to have. But anytime I try
- 4:20Speaker 2: something else, I'm like and then I read something like
- 4:23Speaker 2: Fourth Wing and I'm like, wow, I really love that.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Why did I love that so much? I'm like, oh,
- 4:27Speaker 2: it was out of school. It had the school setting,
- 4:31Speaker 2: Like that's why. Yeah, So that's what I fully blame
- 4:36Speaker 2: all of my life on. Is there anything else we
- 4:40Speaker 2: need to know about me? I mean I think that
- 4:44Speaker 2: covers it. Censorship, missing school.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Yeah, loves reading about kids.
- 4:51Speaker 2: In school, loves reading about it wizard in college.
- 5:03Speaker 3: So in this episode, we're going to be kind of
- 5:05Speaker 3: rounding out our Harry Potter gaming series by talking about
- 5:10Speaker 3: Harry Potter mobile games, but first.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Rustling to w W in the Wizarding Wireless Network now
- 5:23Speaker 2: for the latest headlines.
- 5:25Speaker 3: So there's actually quite a bit of news that's happened
- 5:28Speaker 3: since the last episode that you guys recorded. So first,
- 5:34Speaker 3: you know me, I always got to plug my audible
- 5:36Speaker 3: audio edition. So we're all the we're all the way
- 5:39Speaker 3: up to Order of the Phoenix. And I know I
- 5:41Speaker 3: said this when God, what a Fire came out? Like
- 5:42Speaker 3: how are we already here? But we're already up to
- 5:45Speaker 3: Order of the Phoenix. I'm still so far behind. But
- 5:49Speaker 3: I did get to see the little like interview that
- 5:51Speaker 3: Kara Knightley did, like talking about bringing umbrage to life. Yeah, yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 3: and I'm actually really sure. Yeah, I'm really excited to
- 5:58Speaker 3: hear her like after seeing that little clip. I know
- 6:00Speaker 3: when we first talked about her casting, we kind of
- 6:03Speaker 3: were like, wow, that's really weird, but I think it's
- 6:05Speaker 3: gonna be good.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Basically like a snippet of her voice, and yeah, I
- 6:11Speaker 1: liked it, Like, oh okay, yep, I could close my
- 6:15Speaker 1: eyes and I could I could picture Unbridge here.
- 6:21Speaker 3: And we also learned that we have a new Harry
- 6:24Speaker 3: Potter shop coming this time to London, which seems pretty apt,
- 6:30Speaker 3: and it's going to be located on Oxford Street. And
- 6:33Speaker 3: we still don't know like a lot of details about
- 6:36Speaker 3: this store, you know, as we've talked about before, the
- 6:39Speaker 3: other stores usually have like a theme around them, so
- 6:42Speaker 3: we don't know yet what this one's going to look like.
- 6:45Speaker 3: But we do know it's set to open in fall
- 6:47Speaker 3: of twenty twenty six, so hopefully in the next couple
- 6:49Speaker 3: months we'll learn a little bit more about the design
- 6:52Speaker 3: of this store, which hopefully they go big because it's
- 6:55Speaker 3: like the birthplace, you know, right, you'd have.
- 6:58Speaker 1: To what's the theme of the.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Is it Japan? As the other one.
- 7:05Speaker 3: There was two, I think one of them was like
- 7:08Speaker 3: the one I feel like I remember us talking about
- 7:10Speaker 3: one that was like at the end of like a
- 7:12Speaker 3: road with like trees or something, and that was supposed
- 7:15Speaker 3: to be themed around Forbid and Forest because it was
- 7:17Speaker 3: kind of building in the theme of the wildlife and nature.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I think that was one of the japan ones.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yeah, because I know Chicago is like the Try Wizard.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I got with a fire Yep.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I did not realize that the stores were themed.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the I think they started that with
- 7:37Speaker 3: Chicago because obviously Harry Potter New York isn't like themed
- 7:41Speaker 3: to anything.
- 7:43Speaker 1: It's more just like the Phoenix and the little like
- 7:47Speaker 1: dragon clock things.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah, if Chicago was themed around Try Wizard, then why
- 7:51Speaker 2: do we have the patronas.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I think didn't Chicago open around it was like part
- 7:58Speaker 3: of everything that happened with the anniversary of Goblet of Fire,
- 8:02Speaker 3: and so I don't know if that influenced it could
- 8:06Speaker 3: be cool, but yeah, I know that. I think their
- 8:09Speaker 3: center like one of their center pieces is like the
- 8:14Speaker 3: I don't think it's a guy. I don't remember if
- 8:15Speaker 3: it's a Goblet of Fire or the tribser Cup, Like
- 8:17Speaker 3: I don't remember which one it is, but it's one
- 8:20Speaker 3: of them. And then I know they have the little
- 8:23Speaker 3: like I think they have the like little mermaid like
- 8:26Speaker 3: stained glass window thing somewhere.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, okay, so I think.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Now they've all been kind of themed since then. Well,
- 8:36Speaker 3: I guess we'll see what happens, like with London, but
- 8:39Speaker 3: I know for sure one of the japan stores that
- 8:41Speaker 3: open was Forbidden Forest. I remember us talking about that.
- 8:48Speaker 3: But yeah, I guess we'll see what happens. There are
- 8:51Speaker 3: obviously other like Harry Potter official ish kind of stores
- 8:55Speaker 3: in London, like there's the nine and three Quarters store
- 8:58Speaker 3: in King's Cross Station, and then obviously they have the
- 9:00Speaker 3: studio tour that has the official store, but this will
- 9:02Speaker 3: be the first like official quote unquote Harry Potter shop
- 9:06Speaker 3: is part of that franchise. Cool and very recent. This
- 9:14Speaker 3: actually was like just announced like yesterday to when we're
- 9:17Speaker 3: recording this, But Warwick Davis has been appointed an Officer
- 9:22Speaker 3: of the Order of the British Empire. This is an
- 9:25Speaker 3: award that recognizes his services to both theater and also
- 9:29Speaker 3: charitable causes. So this is really nice for him.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Congratulations.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Yeah. I actually saw Tom Felton's post on Instagram first
- 9:38Speaker 3: about it, and then I saw like the official one
- 9:41Speaker 3: with Prince William giving him the award. I was strolling
- 9:45Speaker 3: and did you think he died?
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yes?
- 9:49Speaker 1: About it? Please don't tell me this. No, we can't
- 9:54Speaker 1: have another. And then, like I read farther in the caption,
- 9:56Speaker 1: I was like, oh, phew, okay.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Yeah, oh my god, I had yet the same experience
- 10:00Speaker 3: as soon as I saw the black and white image.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and that would maybe that would really suck,
- 10:06Speaker 2: considering he's supposed to like reprise his role in the show,
- 10:10Speaker 2: in the show, which still weirds me out.
- 10:14Speaker 3: That's definitely so an interesting choice. But yeah, if you
- 10:17Speaker 3: see Tom Felton's post on Instagram, Warwick is still with us.
- 10:21Speaker 2: It is not a path away, alive, live and well and.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Is actually being honored.
- 10:26Speaker 2: He's warm and breathing. Yet at least. The one thing
- 10:31Speaker 2: is Tom does post in black and white a lot.
- 10:34Speaker 3: He does.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's that's something to my dear friend. Yeah,
- 10:40Speaker 2: just seeing that, to my dear friend, that's giving like
- 10:44Speaker 2: I'm about to go on a thing about how great
- 10:46Speaker 2: it was to work with you. Yeah. Wow, that to.
- 10:53Speaker 3: My dear friend, with the coupled with the black and
- 10:55Speaker 3: white image, it's just yeah, to send you into.
- 10:58Speaker 2: A little Okay, here's someone's comment. I have a heart
- 11:04Speaker 2: attack with that black and white photo. Gether in, Tom, Tom,
- 11:09Speaker 2: don't scare me like that thought something happened. I thought
- 11:13Speaker 2: he died. Cry cry cry cry cry emoji. You made
- 11:17Speaker 2: us think he died. Laugh cry emoji, Tom, I thought
- 11:21Speaker 2: we lost him. Everyone's asking him to please not use
- 11:25Speaker 2: black and white as the first photo anymore.
- 11:27Speaker 3: But I'm telling you it's the comment. It has to
- 11:29Speaker 3: be the caption because like a couple of posts ago,
- 11:32Speaker 3: he posts the black and white reel of him and
- 11:34Speaker 3: Dan Radcliffe and yeah, nobody thought that was like a
- 11:37Speaker 3: death boast.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I think it's just like we have so much trauma
- 11:44Speaker 1: of the adult actors.
- 11:45Speaker 2: From the film's going. Even if we just think about
- 11:49Speaker 2: like twenty twenty six, there's been a lot of major
- 11:52Speaker 2: film and TV stars that have died, like I mean,
- 11:56Speaker 2: Catherine O'Hara, and like it's been a really like sad
- 11:59Speaker 2: year for stuff like that too. I don't know if
- 12:01Speaker 2: my heart could take anymore.
- 12:02Speaker 3: I know in the Oscar and it's only aren't this.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I think the Oscars are this weekend and they do
- 12:06Speaker 3: like yeah the ram and like ooh yeah, so well it.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Got me two weeks back on the first when the
- 12:14Speaker 2: SAG Awards were because Catherine Ohara won an award and right,
- 12:19Speaker 2: so everyone was just like what and Seth rogen like
- 12:23Speaker 2: accepted on her behalf because it was for their show
- 12:26Speaker 2: the studio. But it was just like, oh oh no,
- 12:32Speaker 2: I wasn't expecting that. It was like the Chadwick Boseman
- 12:35Speaker 2: almost winning the Oscar all over again. Yeah.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Yeah, Well Warwick is still alive. He's a life story
- 12:45Speaker 3: and he can say and he's being recognized for his
- 12:48Speaker 3: things that he's done in his life.
- 12:50Speaker 2: So that's great love that for him.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Yes. So the next bit of news is we did
- 12:57Speaker 3: get the cover for the upcoming Harry Potter and the
- 13:00Speaker 3: Halfwoodprints Illustrated addition, the cover features the scene in the
- 13:05Speaker 3: cave when Dumbledore and Harry are facing Me and Fairy.
- 13:10Speaker 3: So super pretty. It's got lots of orange from the
- 13:15Speaker 3: fire and teals and I this one might be one
- 13:18Speaker 3: of my favorite of the illustrated covers. But what do
- 13:23Speaker 3: you guys think about it if you've seen it.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I really liked how the reveal was with the bubbling grain.
- 13:31Speaker 2: It felt very much like back in the cave and
- 13:34Speaker 2: it's like ri scene. I think it was fun. I
- 13:37Speaker 2: feel like I can notice the slight style difference in
- 13:41Speaker 2: the art just from the cover, which I think is
- 13:43Speaker 2: totally fine because who it was Jim Kay before my
- 13:48Speaker 2: room and I saw his post when he's like I
- 13:51Speaker 2: can't do this anymore, sending all a love to him,
- 13:56Speaker 2: but it looks really good. I kind of.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I think this is my least favorite of the illustrated covers.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Maybe I'm biased because Halflood Prince is my favorite.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm definitely a little biased too, And I think
- 14:10Speaker 3: Halfwood Prince like book cover is like my favorite too,
- 14:14Speaker 3: which is obviously from the same scene, huh.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I think, like what I like about the other illustrated
- 14:20Speaker 1: covers is there's a lot more going on, So there's
- 14:24Speaker 1: like a lot of little things that you catch, like
- 14:26Speaker 1: every time you go back and look at it, especially.
- 14:29Speaker 3: That first one. I was just looking at mine. That
- 14:32Speaker 3: first one has a lot of little hidden things, like
- 14:34Speaker 3: at the platform.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Yeah, like this looks nice, don't get me wrong, but
- 14:39Speaker 1: like I'm just missing those.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Little like yeah, the X I see you know, I
- 14:43Speaker 2: see what you're saying. When I compare it to what
- 14:46Speaker 2: the Order of the Phoenix one looked like where we
- 14:47Speaker 2: have the shelves with all the books and there's not
- 14:50Speaker 2: really a lot of like background happening for this one. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 2: it's a lot more just okay, we put in are
- 14:58Speaker 2: they did? They put it out on a faster schedule.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Like I think it's been two years.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Okay, so still like a pretty standard.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Or something like that. It's definitely been a couple of
- 15:10Speaker 3: years since Where the Phoenix came out.
- 15:11Speaker 2: I think got it, Okay.
- 15:15Speaker 3: I did see a comment earlier on social media that
- 15:19Speaker 3: mentioned how like long Harry's legs look in it, and
- 15:22Speaker 3: now I can't unsee it.
- 15:24Speaker 2: It's very scary. Jack Skellington, Yeah, yeah, they are a
- 15:32Speaker 2: little but see and that's where I'm seeing, like the
- 15:34Speaker 2: differences in the art style is the people mm hmm
- 15:39Speaker 2: yeah he I think it's because of how they have
- 15:41Speaker 2: the pants, because it's like where the cuff of the
- 15:44Speaker 2: jeans are, because it makes his like ankle look genormous
- 15:48Speaker 2: in the boots.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and then like the angle a little bit of
- 15:51Speaker 3: like the way his legs are. It just doesn't ye
- 15:54Speaker 3: that situation. But I still I still really like it.
- 15:56Speaker 3: I think it's I like the fire like how the
- 15:58Speaker 3: fire works.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Why is Dumbledore so much taller than him? This is
- 16:03Speaker 2: making Dumbledore look like he's eight feet tall.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Which is really funny actually because if you like like
- 16:11Speaker 3: Mary Grand Prix cover, they're like almost the same height,
- 16:15Speaker 3: like as they're over the little Goblet thing.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Even though I guess looking at like the newer Scholastic
- 16:24Speaker 2: cover that's that like Blue Scale one, it's a very
- 16:29Speaker 2: similar height disparity to the illustrated one. So you know,
- 16:34Speaker 2: maybe we're just going with Harry really didn't get a
- 16:37Speaker 2: growth spurt until he was eighteen, I mean, Dan Radcliffe also,
- 16:46Speaker 2: you know, you know.
- 16:48Speaker 1: So maybe they're just trying to align with movie Harry.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Yeah, well yeah, I still like and I just was
- 16:57Speaker 3: looking at it like next to all the other ones,
- 16:59Speaker 3: and I think it's still I definitely think it still works.
- 17:01Speaker 3: But yeah, I agree, I think other than probably like
- 17:05Speaker 3: the Prisoner of Azkaban one, it is probably the one
- 17:08Speaker 3: that has like the least going on in the background.
- 17:10Speaker 3: But it's also like such a pivotal scene and like
- 17:13Speaker 3: doesn't need a lot going on in the background too,
- 17:15Speaker 3: So like maybe we'll see that with these last couple
- 17:17Speaker 3: like this, like as we get into the darker books.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Yeah, a little more simplified. Yeah, it'll be interesting to
- 17:23Speaker 2: see which scene they pick for the cover for Deathly Hallows.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Yeah, because there's a lot to choose from there.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Well yeah, so, as we mentioned too, so this is
- 17:35Speaker 3: our first book that we have with a new illustrator,
- 17:39Speaker 3: and it's Levi Pinfold. I know, we talked about that
- 17:42Speaker 3: too when we learned that he was going to be illustrating,
- 17:45Speaker 3: And yeah, it'll be out in October October six, twenty
- 17:49Speaker 3: twenty six. So I feel like they usually always kind
- 17:51Speaker 3: of come out in the fall. I feel like I
- 17:52Speaker 3: usually ask for them for Christmas, so they always kind
- 17:54Speaker 3: of come out in that timeframe. So yeah, be curious
- 18:00Speaker 3: to see if we get any other teasers of like
- 18:02Speaker 3: any of the art on the inside, Yeah, because that'll
- 18:06Speaker 3: be cool to kind of see more of the style.
- 18:08Speaker 3: But I will be getting it regardless, So I had
- 18:14Speaker 3: to get to the collection and then it'll probably be
- 18:16Speaker 3: like two more years before we get the last book.
- 18:19Speaker 3: But that's okay.
- 18:20Speaker 2: But are they going to split the last book into
- 18:23Speaker 2: two parts like they did the movie?
- 18:26Speaker 3: There's no reason to if they didn't split Order of
- 18:28Speaker 3: the Phoenix Illustrated into two books because it's the biggest book.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Then that's true.
- 18:33Speaker 3: They shouldn't have to split the ad of.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Course, splitting the last one making a comeback, I hope not.
- 18:40Speaker 3: I hope not.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Everything else from that era of media makes a comeback,
- 18:46Speaker 2: like why a dystopia but not the two parts in
- 18:49Speaker 2: two parts? Give us a three hour movie.
- 18:52Speaker 3: It's fine, but see, I feel like that. I feel
- 18:55Speaker 3: like that won't make like a full comeback because now
- 18:58Speaker 3: things are just going to like TV over movie. So
- 19:01Speaker 3: just do a TV SOO and then you don't need
- 19:02Speaker 3: to do all the parts because you've got all the
- 19:04Speaker 3: time with the TV show.
- 19:06Speaker 2: So yeah, until they cancel the TV show after like
- 19:09Speaker 2: a single season because people didn't like watch it quick
- 19:12Speaker 2: enough in the first twenty four hours of it dropping.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And I'm like, you dropped it on a Thursday. I'm busy.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I am busy.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I'll watch it on the weekend.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Some Shadow and Bone PTSD. It's like everything Netflix produces
- 19:32Speaker 2: PTSD because they either give it one season or they
- 19:35Speaker 2: pull a Virgin River and it gets a ton of seasons. Okay, yeah,
- 19:39Speaker 2: Virgin River is a guilty pleasure for me. I am
- 19:41Speaker 2: currently watching the season that came out yesterday. What it's
- 19:45Speaker 2: consistent content, and that's that's a rarity in this day
- 19:48Speaker 2: and age. It's true, I gotta take away I.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Can anything that gets beyond two seasons is like rare.
- 19:56Speaker 2: It proves though that you know, if maybe Paramount backs
- 20:00Speaker 2: and Netflix gets the bid again, Netflix is capable of
- 20:03Speaker 2: doing seven seasons of little show. This is true. M
- 20:07Speaker 2: M prooves something.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll see what the heck happens with them. So,
- 20:14Speaker 3: speaking of HBO, it was a great segue and to
- 20:16Speaker 3: the next point here. So HBO recently revealed a bunch
- 20:21Speaker 3: of casting announcements. So it's for several of the Hogwarts students,
- 20:26Speaker 3: and so I'm not gonna go through like each of
- 20:28Speaker 3: the castings. You can go to the official sites and
- 20:31Speaker 3: see them in their pictures and everyone. But we did
- 20:34Speaker 3: get the casting of like, you know, Oliver Wood, Angelina Johnson,
- 20:38Speaker 3: Susan Bones, Terry Boot, Penelope clear Water, Pansy Parkinson, like
- 20:45Speaker 3: all of those characters to kind of fill out all
- 20:48Speaker 3: of our different houses. So lots of casting.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Not gonna lie. I missed this announcement and reading it
- 20:55Speaker 2: in the notes for the doc today, that's how I
- 20:58Speaker 2: found out it was fair.
- 20:59Speaker 3: I don't feel like it was very I think because
- 21:02Speaker 3: it's obviously like side characters kind of. I think it
- 21:06Speaker 3: was just a random post. But there is a featured
- 21:08Speaker 3: article on the official Harry Potter website that shows the
- 21:11Speaker 3: pictures of all of them, and I do like how
- 21:14Speaker 3: they did it because they had like all of them
- 21:15Speaker 3: take group pictures, like per the house that they're in,
- 21:19Speaker 3: so it's actually really cute.
- 21:20Speaker 2: That's a good way to do it.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Yeah, instead of like just the single like headshots that
- 21:25Speaker 3: they were doing, or like.
- 21:26Speaker 2: The random assortment of casting news we were getting where
- 21:29Speaker 2: they're like, here's too Easily's and some random that nobody
- 21:32Speaker 2: cares about the casting of yet, right, And I was like, okay,
- 21:36Speaker 2: this is a choice.
- 21:39Speaker 3: Right, Yeah. I think I do think they handled this
- 21:41Speaker 3: casting announcement really cute, So that's fun. The only thing
- 21:45Speaker 3: that like, I don't love about the way they did
- 21:48Speaker 3: it is it doesn't necessarily put like a face to
- 21:51Speaker 3: a name because you just have them in a group shot,
- 21:53Speaker 3: so you're like, cool, I don't know who's who. But
- 21:57Speaker 3: the idea behind it I think was cute because it's
- 21:59Speaker 3: like there, so that's fun. But yeah, you can head
- 22:03Speaker 3: over to the official channels, and you'll see everybody but
- 22:07Speaker 3: all of our favorites and some other names that I
- 22:08Speaker 3: actually didn't recognize, which could just be because I need
- 22:12Speaker 3: to go back and reread, or it could be because
- 22:14Speaker 3: they're new characters.
- 22:17Speaker 2: But I mean, I legitimately don't remember names like Graham, Monta,
- 22:21Speaker 2: Hugh and Paragrind, Derek and Lucy and Boyle.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and Lisa Turbin, Lisa Turpin, like that just seems
- 22:27Speaker 3: me too.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Lisa Turbin's the one I did.
- 22:30Speaker 3: I didn't recognize that at FIR, but I had to
- 22:33Speaker 3: look it up.
- 22:35Speaker 2: It's been a hot while since I read any of that,
- 22:37Speaker 2: So yes, and let's be real, the only casting as
- 22:42Speaker 2: I care about is Oliver Wood.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Right, and I don't know which one in the picture
- 22:47Speaker 3: is him.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I know. Yeah, I'm gonna look up who Orson Matthews is.
- 22:52Speaker 2: That's who's playing Oliver Wood. Yeah, No, that was a
- 22:56Speaker 2: good one to pick for Oliver one.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I can. Yeah, I just pulled out the picture too. Yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 3: you could tell because there's like three girls and then
- 23:03Speaker 3: there's like two guys, and like one looks very like
- 23:05Speaker 3: Lee Jordan, and so it's a kind of process.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Definitely keeping keeping Yeah, they're they're definitely keeping with what
- 23:15Speaker 2: people enjoyed about the original Oliver makes sense. They all
- 23:21Speaker 2: look great though. I love that they're like all in
- 23:23Speaker 2: red like house colors. Love that.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, and then it's really funny because in the Hufflepuff picture,
- 23:30Speaker 3: like they're all have yellow in some way except for
- 23:32Speaker 3: one of them. It's like he just forgot to was
- 23:35Speaker 3: that was not in the green chat memo? Yeah, yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 3: they're doing their best because yeah, all the raven Claws
- 23:42Speaker 3: are all in blue in some way, and the Slytherins
- 23:46Speaker 3: like they're kind of all over the place. They've got
- 23:48Speaker 3: some gray, some black, some green, but they all look
- 23:51Speaker 3: very Slytherin like.
- 23:52Speaker 2: They do look very Hey least it's really easy to
- 23:54Speaker 2: tell who's playing Pansy in that set because it's literally
- 23:58Speaker 2: the only female and all the dudes.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yeah, well, super cute pictures and yeah, excited to see
- 24:06Speaker 3: them in their roles. So yeah, that's really the only
- 24:09Speaker 3: like show update we've had in a like a while.
- 24:11Speaker 3: I think they're just plugging along with filming.
- 24:13Speaker 1: So there was some of the pictures of the Diagon
- 24:17Speaker 1: Alley sat leaked.
- 24:19Speaker 2: I did see that.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I that looked pretty cool, but other than that, not really.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Yeah. I think they've just been like filming inside and
- 24:28Speaker 3: so we're kind of shut out for now.
- 24:30Speaker 2: But from some of the leaks I think I sent
- 24:34Speaker 2: it in one of the group chats, we saw that
- 24:37Speaker 2: they built some of like a Hogwarts courtyard with like
- 24:40Speaker 2: the themed mascot topiaries, and I'm like, you know, honestly,
- 24:44Speaker 2: I want a themed topiary.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean honest yeah.
- 24:53Speaker 3: And then next we kind of in celebrating, you know,
- 24:58Speaker 3: our anniversary of Flat first Stone. Just a few more
- 25:01Speaker 3: announcements that have come out of events that are happening.
- 25:04Speaker 3: So Warner Brother Studio Tour London. You know, they always
- 25:07Speaker 3: have a summer feature, but this year they're doing a
- 25:11Speaker 3: new one called First Year at Hogwarts. So this feature
- 25:15Speaker 3: is going to run from May seventh to September seventh
- 25:18Speaker 3: and will transport visitors back to where the filmmaking magic started.
- 25:23Speaker 3: So of course our first film. So the feature will
- 25:26Speaker 3: showcase iconic moments, displays, and props from the first film.
- 25:30Speaker 3: They're also going to be updating a few of the
- 25:32Speaker 3: different If you've ever been to the studio tour, listened
- 25:35Speaker 3: to our episode when we talked about it. They're making
- 25:37Speaker 3: some updates to a few of the like permanent scenes
- 25:40Speaker 3: that are there to make it themed to this feature.
- 25:44Speaker 3: So one of them is going to be in the
- 25:46Speaker 3: Great Hall. They're going to have the Gryffindor banners hanging,
- 25:49Speaker 3: you know, as they did in the end of term Feast,
- 25:51Speaker 3: after you know, Dumbledore changes them and the Gryffindor beats Slytherin,
- 25:57Speaker 3: and the Gryffindor common room, they're going to put up
- 26:01Speaker 3: the scene where Hermione casts Patrificus totalis and have a
- 26:04Speaker 3: long bottom, so that'll be cool. And then in the
- 26:09Speaker 3: backlock stage they're going to be premiering a new show
- 26:13Speaker 3: called The Secrets of sound Effects, which will be an
- 26:16Speaker 3: audio visual experience revealing behind the scenes secrets about art
- 26:20Speaker 3: of Folly and how different sound effects were made to
- 26:23Speaker 3: bring the Wizarding World to life.
- 26:26Speaker 2: So okay, cool, that's cool.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Sad I'm gonna be missing that, Tom, please.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Big big fully nerd.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I love watching random behind the scenes videos that I
- 26:35Speaker 1: can find a fully for different movies.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Quite weird.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cool, it's cool.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I want to Oh, I wish I could go.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Let's start saving on. We'll do a London trip with Tom,
- 26:53Speaker 3: it would be you know, but if we can't get there,
- 26:58Speaker 3: Tom is a lot closer than us, so hope like
- 27:00Speaker 3: he will go and can tell us all about it.
- 27:03Speaker 3: And then, lastly so on October twenty ninth, again, to
- 27:07Speaker 3: celebrate the twenty fifth anniversary of Harry Potter and a
- 27:10Speaker 3: Philosopher's Stone, there is going to be a night fountain
- 27:14Speaker 3: show in Versailles in France. They're gonna be doing a
- 27:19Speaker 3: special edition of this night fountain show. That's all I
- 27:22Speaker 3: really know about it. I tried to dig and find
- 27:23Speaker 3: a little bit more about it, but either it was
- 27:26Speaker 3: in French or I couldn't really find more. So there
- 27:29Speaker 3: is going to be some kind of night fountain show
- 27:31Speaker 3: happening at Versailles that is Harry Potter themed on August
- 27:35Speaker 3: twenty ninth. I maybe did I say October. I don't
- 27:37Speaker 3: know what I said. It's August twenty ninth.
- 27:42Speaker 2: So we need to then plan a trip where we're
- 27:44Speaker 2: hitting London and then going to the coffee over to Yes, yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 2: totally doable.
- 27:50Speaker 3: It's very easy. Yes, to get there.
- 27:52Speaker 1: We can happen.
- 27:54Speaker 2: It's not like a super long flight or anything.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Not at all. And Yeah, that's kind of it. For
- 28:03Speaker 3: the news, I say, that's it. There was kind of
- 28:06Speaker 3: a lot.
- 28:06Speaker 2: That's a lot, a lot of the big reveals and stuff. Yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 1: The magic continues over on the Revellio Patreon. As a

- 28:37Speaker 1: For our main discussion, we are wrapping up our Wizards
- 28:42Speaker 1: of Gaming series and talking about Harry Potter mobile games.
- 28:48Speaker 2: There's been quite a few over the years.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Uh, We're going to kick off with the first one
- 28:55Speaker 1: that neither Nicole or myself have ever played.
- 29:00Speaker 2: But it sounds like Liz has had the pleasure.
- 29:02Speaker 3: I mean, I've had it downloaded and I've opened it,
- 29:05Speaker 3: but that's as far as I've gotten.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Oh, I mean, that's farther than you usually get in
- 29:09Speaker 2: to call.
- 29:12Speaker 3: She says this because my Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition is
- 29:15Speaker 3: still wrapped, not my TV stand.
- 29:18Speaker 2: So I love that I'll get to it one day someday.
- 29:22Speaker 2: I mean, Hogwarts Mysteries, the game I've probably played the
- 29:25Speaker 2: most of my life outside of all of like the
- 29:28Speaker 2: lego games I've played on my Wii as a child,
- 29:31Speaker 2: And that's not necessarily intentional, that's just how it's ended up.
- 29:37Speaker 2: So we will start with Hogwarts Mystery, the one I've
- 29:40Speaker 2: played since twenty eighteen when it first came out, which wow,
- 29:47Speaker 2: eight years ago now, hot dog. So the game was
- 29:54Speaker 2: developed and published by jam City. I don't know much
- 29:59Speaker 2: about gms city. They have a lot of games, Hogwart's
- 30:02Speaker 2: Mystery seems to be their biggest property. They are regularly
- 30:07Speaker 2: hiring people for the game on LinkedIn. Okay, I get
- 30:12Speaker 2: ads like for their LinkedIn posts all the time. They
- 30:15Speaker 2: want people to help write the story of Hogwarts Mystery,
- 30:18Speaker 2: which they desperately need because there are a lot of
- 30:22Speaker 2: problems with it.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Liz, you could apply and just think about the chaos
- 30:26Speaker 1: you could cause. But this game fun.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Look, we will get We will get to the story
- 30:32Speaker 2: problems soon. But Hogwarts Mystery is a game where you
- 30:38Speaker 2: have to wait for energy to refresh to do tasks.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Right in Hogwarts Mystery case, I believe it's four minutes
- 30:46Speaker 2: for one energy to replenish in your and your your
- 30:52Speaker 2: energy bar gets like more capacity added to it as
- 30:56Speaker 2: you complete Flying class life, since that is how it's
- 31:02Speaker 2: put in. You take flying all the years at Hogwarts Wilds.
- 31:10Speaker 2: It's not as like much in the later years because
- 31:12Speaker 2: they kind of add different classes over the years. You
- 31:15Speaker 2: start with like charms and potions, and they steadily add
- 31:19Speaker 2: more as you go along. But effectively, it does mean
- 31:24Speaker 2: that either you wait for energy or you pay to play,
- 31:29Speaker 2: so you pay to get more energy. You pay to
- 31:33Speaker 2: get gems that you then can use to get more energy.
- 31:37Speaker 2: There's a lot of currency types in the game, as
- 31:41Speaker 2: standard with pay to play games. There's gemstones, there's your gold.
- 31:48Speaker 2: You can only have fifty thousand gold at a time.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I'm nearly always at fifty thousand gold. I have to
- 31:56Speaker 2: spend it so I can earn more. It's ridiculous. There's
- 32:00Speaker 2: a whole set of books. There's a blue book, a
- 32:05Speaker 2: brown one, a red one, and a gold one, and
- 32:08Speaker 2: those let you buy the different pet options and the
- 32:11Speaker 2: different magical creatures you can adopt. Because for whatever reason,
- 32:16Speaker 2: it's acceptable to adopt all sorts of magical creatures in
- 32:19Speaker 2: this universe and.
- 32:21Speaker 1: To just trade in a book for a creature.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Yes, yes, there's pages, which is different than books, but
- 32:29Speaker 2: you can use pages to do old adventures that you
- 32:34Speaker 2: may have missed because they're constantly putting out new side
- 32:38Speaker 2: quests for you to do, and they're timed and only
- 32:43Speaker 2: come out at certain times of year because that's a
- 32:46Speaker 2: good idea apparently, so if you miss one too bad,
- 32:50Speaker 2: maybe it'll read trigger the following year. You don't know,
- 32:54Speaker 2: you may just be forever and complete. I think those
- 32:58Speaker 2: are the big curve and see things you can actually
- 33:01Speaker 2: do stuff with. But then you're also gathering attribute points
- 33:05Speaker 2: of like wisdom, courage, and the heart. They call it
- 33:12Speaker 2: something nice, but I just call it the carrying. And
- 33:16Speaker 2: as you earn those, you go up levels for the
- 33:20Speaker 2: different clubhouses, which don't really get too much. They're just
- 33:28Speaker 2: places you can go to interact with other characters. There's
- 33:31Speaker 2: a lot of weird levels to this game, guys, but
- 33:35Speaker 2: the basics is you start at Hogwarts in nineteen eighty four. Cool,
- 33:43Speaker 2: You're heading to Hogwarts. It's gonna be great. The game
- 33:46Speaker 2: follows your seven years of education at Hogwarts. How long
- 33:50Speaker 2: that takes depends on you. It also depends on how
- 33:55Speaker 2: many chapters Gmcity put in each one because the late
- 34:00Speaker 2: years are really long because I don't think they knew
- 34:03Speaker 2: what they were going to do post Hogwarts yet, so
- 34:06Speaker 2: they just kept delaying the end, so it can take
- 34:09Speaker 2: a while to go through it. But then after Hogwarts
- 34:12Speaker 2: you work for some super secret thing at the Ministry.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Don't know how you qualify for that as a fresh graduate,
- 34:19Speaker 2: but not my game. They're desperate for unspeakables, I guess.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Apparently the big overarching theme is that your character's brother,
- 34:29Speaker 2: Jacob went missing, and you want to know what happened
- 34:33Speaker 2: to it. He was expelled from Hogwarts and then he
- 34:35Speaker 2: went missing, and you're like, wow, what happened to my brother?
- 34:40Speaker 2: So that's like an overarching thing for a big chunk
- 34:43Speaker 2: of the series. I will not spoil whether or not
- 34:46Speaker 2: you find out what happened to Jacob.
- 34:48Speaker 1: So it's so funny to me because, like, ever since
- 34:52Speaker 1: this game came out, anytime I try to research anything
- 34:55Speaker 1: to do with Harry Potter, inevitably I'll be reading along
- 34:59Speaker 1: and thing and I'm like, wow, I don't remember this happening,
- 35:02Speaker 1: and then suddenly it'll come up Jacob's brother Da da
- 35:06Speaker 1: da da da. I'm like, oh, yeah, because it didn't happen.
- 35:10Speaker 2: It's right, so Jaco, what happened to Daga. But then
- 35:17Speaker 2: also you want to know if and how it's connected
- 35:20Speaker 2: to the Cursed Vaults, which were five hidden rooms a
- 35:25Speaker 2: la Room of Requirement in Hogwarts that you spend a
- 35:29Speaker 2: good chunk of your early years tracking down. It's still
- 35:34Speaker 2: really not clear to me why we were tracking them down,
- 35:40Speaker 2: but we found them. They're tough, they're hidden, and of
- 35:46Speaker 2: course there's like sketchy characters everywhere trying to lure you
- 35:49Speaker 2: to the dark side. You have a whole horde of friends,
- 35:53Speaker 2: most of whom are nice. Some of them, like Maroula,
- 35:57Speaker 2: you're more like frenemies because my religious doesn't like anyone,
- 36:02Speaker 2: and that's okay. Like in Hogwarts Legacy, people love Sebastian.
- 36:08Speaker 2: In Hogwarts Mystery, it's Barnaby. He's a Slytherin kid who
- 36:13Speaker 2: just loves magical creatures. He's a cool dude. We love Barnaby.
- 36:17Speaker 2: No slander. So as you're going through and like finding
- 36:23Speaker 2: Cursed Vaults and you know, maybe your brother, I don't know,
- 36:28Speaker 2: they do take some kind of dark directions with the story.
- 36:33Speaker 2: At times. There is a death of someone I will
- 36:38Speaker 2: not spoil who because it is kind of a big
- 36:40Speaker 2: deal and if you haven't hit it yet, I think
- 36:44Speaker 2: it's in year six that it happens. But it's pretty
- 36:47Speaker 2: intense because they're one of the friends you have from
- 36:49Speaker 2: the beginning and you're like, oh wow, this mobile game
- 36:53Speaker 2: took it there. When it happened, the fan base wasn't
- 36:59Speaker 2: really acting it like it was really weird because you
- 37:01Speaker 2: can it's a Harry Potter mobile game, Like, what do
- 37:03Speaker 2: you mean You're killing off a character?
- 37:06Speaker 5: Like?
- 37:06Speaker 2: It was pretty weird. High Yeah, I don't think they
- 37:12Speaker 2: needed to be that, but they were so. And you're
- 37:18Speaker 2: you're constantly dealing with random things happening in addition to
- 37:21Speaker 2: taking classes because each chapter you have to complete, it's
- 37:25Speaker 2: usually two classes. They vary which ones you're doing, and
- 37:31Speaker 2: you have a couple of like tasks that you do
- 37:35Speaker 2: and usually it's involved like going and talking to people
- 37:37Speaker 2: and write. Because it's a Wait for Energy game, you're
- 37:40Speaker 2: just sitting there tapping. I don't read a majority of
- 37:43Speaker 2: the dialogue. I literally just tap through it because I
- 37:46Speaker 2: don't care. Straight up, when you're not doing that, you
- 37:51Speaker 2: can play quidditch. There's a whole quidditch side thing. You
- 37:56Speaker 2: go through four seasons of quidditch where you learn each
- 37:59Speaker 2: of the positions, which is kind of fun, and then
- 38:02Speaker 2: you can pick which you play as after you've like
- 38:06Speaker 2: unlocked them all. It's effectively just tapping circles, but in
- 38:11Speaker 2: various ways to like accommodate all the different positions. Kind
- 38:17Speaker 2: of weird, honestly, it's very laggy, like it takes a
- 38:21Speaker 2: while to load. That might just also be that I
- 38:23Speaker 2: don't have an iPhone. I don't know. I find very laggy.
- 38:28Speaker 2: You can collect magical plants and creatures. The magical plants
- 38:32Speaker 2: thing is new. That's like within the last couple months.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I think it's kind of boring. You like collect ingredients
- 38:39Speaker 2: from them, which you can then trade in for like
- 38:41Speaker 2: energy or those books I talked about, or the pages
- 38:45Speaker 2: or coins or jem any number of things, and then
- 38:51Speaker 2: you have the magical creatures that you can adopt using
- 38:54Speaker 2: your books. There's this whole magical creature reserve, unclear where
- 39:00Speaker 2: it is officially, but it has all of these different habitats.
- 39:05Speaker 2: It's like if they took Newt's case and put it
- 39:08Speaker 2: not in the case effectively, and they have everything from
- 39:12Speaker 2: like doing a horn clump. I think it's a horre clump,
- 39:15Speaker 2: but you have like the very basic there's a niffler
- 39:18Speaker 2: all that up to various dragons and a yetti wow,
- 39:24Speaker 2: and they're regularly adding new guys, like we've had the
- 39:30Speaker 2: shrake added recently. The swooping Evil was one of my
- 39:34Speaker 2: favorite editions. There's the horned Serpent. They are regularly adding them.
- 39:40Speaker 2: And then you gather food, which is like a reward
- 39:44Speaker 2: from various things, and you feed them food and you
- 39:49Speaker 2: bond with them through different levels, and then as you
- 39:54Speaker 2: like hit each little level, they give you energy and gems.
- 39:58Speaker 2: It gets really teddy if we're being honest, but there
- 40:03Speaker 2: is a lot of opportunity to earn food. I constantly
- 40:05Speaker 2: have like five hundred creature food sitting in my thing
- 40:08Speaker 2: to use and I never go through it. All you
- 40:13Speaker 2: do that there's a lot of competitions happening regularly. One
- 40:19Speaker 2: of the first ones they did was there used to
- 40:21Speaker 2: be quidditch competitions where you would have to win so
- 40:25Speaker 2: many games of quidditch and as you hit the different Okay,
- 40:27Speaker 2: I have won five, ten, fifteen games of quidditch. During
- 40:30Speaker 2: like the little timed event, you would get prizes, prizes
- 40:35Speaker 2: for things like that typically include the books, sometimes gems.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Now they've added pages, and since the introduction of pages
- 40:43Speaker 2: a couple of years back, money and furniture, because my
- 40:48Speaker 2: favorite part of the game is you get to decorate
- 40:51Speaker 2: your dorm room with furniture sets you earn. There's also
- 40:55Speaker 2: dueling competitions where you just try to win as many.
- 40:57Speaker 5: Dueling things as you can to earn more spells to
- 41:01Speaker 5: use in dueling. There's the carnivals, where you play carnival
- 41:07Speaker 5: games to win gold.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Tickets that then win you prizes. There's puzzling potions where
- 41:16Speaker 2: you earn little potions as you do the tappies in class,
- 41:21Speaker 2: and then you have to find the hidden pictures in
- 41:24Speaker 2: like the puzzle grid to then win prizes. At any
- 41:30Speaker 2: given time, there's like four different events happening. And then
- 41:34Speaker 2: there's the eternally favorite Full Marks, where it's effectively like
- 41:38Speaker 2: a bingo board and you're trying to either get a
- 41:40Speaker 2: diagonal across or there's like a special shape to like
- 41:44Speaker 2: earn as many points as you can. That people don't
- 41:49Speaker 2: like that it's annoying, and it always comes when they
- 41:53Speaker 2: release a new Times Limited Side Quest or a TLSQ,
- 41:57Speaker 2: which means you can't actually do any of it because
- 42:00Speaker 2: you're busy doing the New Time side quest. So yeah,
- 42:06Speaker 2: there's a constant barrage of things like that, so you
- 42:09Speaker 2: could literally just play those and like never actually do
- 42:12Speaker 2: any chapters of the game. Because it starts in nineteen
- 42:18Speaker 2: eighty four, it means we're running concurrent with several Weasley brothers,
- 42:22Speaker 2: so you're friends with Bill and Charlie. You get to
- 42:25Speaker 2: see Bill graduate, you get to see the Twins come
- 42:28Speaker 2: into Hogwarts, which is really interesting. You see Cedric Diggery
- 42:32Speaker 2: come into Hogwarts, so you have some overlap like that,
- 42:36Speaker 2: which is interesting. Some of it isn't quite canon, Like
- 42:41Speaker 2: there seems to be a problem with when they introduce
- 42:45Speaker 2: Quarrel and him teaching Muggles studies, like it doesn't line
- 42:48Speaker 2: up the way it's supposed to, and everyone's like, oh okay,
- 42:54Speaker 2: and then there's just like various canon issues that don't
- 42:57Speaker 2: make sense, Like for whatever reason, it's a jabbernel with
- 43:02Speaker 2: an A. They have never corrected it, even though everyone
- 43:07Speaker 2: points it out. It's like, that's that's easy to look
- 43:09Speaker 2: up and check. So there's weird little quirks like that
- 43:13Speaker 2: that you're like, huh, Okay, so it's not I see
- 43:20Speaker 2: why they're always needing writers for the game. Oh and
- 43:26Speaker 2: you they also you know, you can go on dates
- 43:30Speaker 2: with your friends. They are inclusive. You can pick any
- 43:33Speaker 2: of your friends to go out on dates with. You
- 43:36Speaker 2: are not limited to just those of the opposite sex.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I go out a lot with the raven claude dude,
- 43:43Speaker 2: I forget his name, but he can turn into a bird.
- 43:47Speaker 2: But the biggest issue with the game, in my opinion,
- 43:50Speaker 2: is your character is effectively a merry suit, Like, what
- 43:55Speaker 2: do you mean we're becoming an animeagus? What do you
- 43:58Speaker 2: mean we're learning at it? As to patrons? What do
- 44:01Speaker 2: you mean I never get in trouble? What do you like?
- 44:05Speaker 2: It's a we get in trouble and we go talk
- 44:07Speaker 2: to Dumbledore, and Dumbledore's like, well, let's try a better
- 44:12Speaker 2: next time. You like, you technically have options in your
- 44:20Speaker 2: like little dialogue tree when you're doing like the chapters
- 44:23Speaker 2: and stuff, but they rarely make any difference in what
- 44:26Speaker 2: you're doing, unless it's something like the animegas or the
- 44:29Speaker 2: Patrona's quest, because there's three options for each and your
- 44:33Speaker 2: little answers like we'll dictate which one you get. If
- 44:36Speaker 2: you have a specific one you want, go to the reddit.
- 44:39Speaker 2: They have a whole they have all the guides. That's
- 44:41Speaker 2: what I did to get the ones I wanted. But effectively,
- 44:45Speaker 2: your character can like do no wrong. Your character never
- 44:48Speaker 2: really gets in trouble, even though they're like breaking into
- 44:51Speaker 2: rooms at the school, like doing all of this stuff
- 44:57Speaker 2: and like becoming an Animega said like year three, like, uh,
- 45:05Speaker 2: you never can do wrong.
- 45:07Speaker 3: I mean I guess, like what's the like, I guess
- 45:10Speaker 3: what's the like mystery part of this? Is it like
- 45:13Speaker 3: this Jacob going missing, Like he's the mystery.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Yeah, the mystery is Jacob and the Cursed Vaults, even
- 45:20Speaker 2: though that kind of like falls away because there's like
- 45:23Speaker 2: a rogue defense against the dark Arts Professor and like
- 45:26Speaker 2: you're five, who like gets really sketchy and you get
- 45:32Speaker 2: kind of more into that kind of after all the
- 45:34Speaker 2: vault things happen. But I'm not gonna lie. I don't
- 45:37Speaker 2: pay that much attention to the story anymore so because
- 45:39Speaker 2: it doesn't really go anywhere.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Like does the mystery like resolve itself like early on,
- 45:46Speaker 1: like did they maybe not expect.
- 45:48Speaker 2: It to go that long?
- 45:49Speaker 1: So now there is no mystery.
- 45:51Speaker 2: So they kind of do it. If I'm remembering correctly,
- 45:54Speaker 2: that it ends up like you're finding a cursed vault
- 45:56Speaker 2: each year for those like first five years, but then
- 46:00Speaker 2: you kind of get to the point where years five, six,
- 46:04Speaker 2: and seven, it's like I said, they really just didn't
- 46:07Speaker 2: seem to know what they were gonna do post year seven,
- 46:09Speaker 2: so they just kind of kept adding chapters. So let
- 46:14Speaker 2: me let me just do a quick thing to compare
- 46:17Speaker 2: the chapter lens, chapter numbers and.
- 46:20Speaker 3: How what's almost like they didn't even need if they
- 46:22Speaker 3: were gonna call it Hogwarts Mystery, Like did they even
- 46:24Speaker 3: need to develop it beyond Hogwarts?
- 46:27Speaker 2: I don't think so, right, but they did so. For example,
- 46:32Speaker 2: Hogwart's Mystery Year one has ten chapters. Hogwarts Mystery Year seven,
- 46:40Speaker 2: let's see how many it contains sixty chapters. What, Yeah,
- 46:45Speaker 2: it's they just didn't know what they wanted to do
- 46:49Speaker 2: year seven. It's mindre shing. You're getting more into like
- 46:52Speaker 2: you're doing some stuff like their little tasks for the
- 46:55Speaker 2: ministry that's theoretically like helping you decide what to do,
- 47:00Speaker 2: but like it's like chapter thirties five the the Horror Program,
- 47:06Speaker 2: it's time for your next career exploration, like they kind
- 47:10Speaker 2: of just go into that effectively. Oh yeah, and then
- 47:12Speaker 2: there's like some random objects that you're keeping. But to me,
- 47:18Speaker 2: none of the story makes sense kind of after the
- 47:20Speaker 2: death of the character. It's like they they'd been leading
- 47:25Speaker 2: up to that point and then just didn't really know
- 47:27Speaker 2: what to do after, and now it's just kind of
- 47:30Speaker 2: like a for frenzis for me, like, I don't pay
- 47:33Speaker 2: attention to the story because there's no reason too. It's
- 47:37Speaker 2: not going anywhere. I do the fun little timed like
- 47:42Speaker 2: quests and that you do silly little things they've introduced,
- 47:46Speaker 2: like the Malfoys and you have like a whole thing
- 47:48Speaker 2: with like a young Draco at one point. They're always
- 47:53Speaker 2: doing new holiday and Valentine's ones, but they put like
- 47:57Speaker 2: all the Valentine's ones in year four, so I'm going
- 48:00Speaker 2: on like six Valentine's dates. I guess in year four.
- 48:03Speaker 2: I don't really know when you have time for that.
- 48:06Speaker 2: They're probably spread out a little better than that, but
- 48:08Speaker 2: they end up being a lot of those timed side
- 48:11Speaker 2: quests for year three and year four. And because I
- 48:15Speaker 2: started playing at the beginning, it hasn't been been that
- 48:19Speaker 2: weird because you know, I've done them as they come out,
- 48:21Speaker 2: But for people like just getting into the game, it's
- 48:23Speaker 2: a barrage of them, like you're constant you finish one
- 48:28Speaker 2: and then the next one is triggering, and like it's
- 48:30Speaker 2: a barrage trying to get through them all to actually
- 48:33Speaker 2: like do the thing. So I would say it's not
- 48:38Speaker 2: a great game to try to come in and start
- 48:40Speaker 2: now I'm the thing.
- 48:41Speaker 3: I don't know if you've convinced me to no.
- 48:45Speaker 2: I genuinely think it's one of those games where it's
- 48:48Speaker 2: if you hadn't if you started playing after twenty twenty,
- 48:52Speaker 2: it's not really worth it unless you were just like
- 48:55Speaker 2: grinding the whole time and like buying gems like candy
- 48:58Speaker 2: to convert in energy. Like there's just too many TLS
- 49:04Speaker 2: cues now for you to like it's just like overload. Yeah.
- 49:10Speaker 2: So honestly, Hogwarts Mystery is a mess.
- 49:17Speaker 3: I'm surprised it's still around kind of like just given
- 49:20Speaker 3: how we've seen so many and we'll obviously talk about
- 49:22Speaker 3: this as we talk about some of the other games.
- 49:24Speaker 3: How we've seen so many of them like leave and
- 49:27Speaker 3: does not stick around, and like what about Hogwarts Mystery
- 49:30Speaker 3: has still remained all this time.
- 49:32Speaker 2: It's one of the few things that really gave you, like, okay,
- 49:34Speaker 2: a multi year thing through Hogwarts, which is inevitably something
- 49:40Speaker 2: that like in the gaming part of Harry Potter, we
- 49:43Speaker 2: just kind of continue to lack, like yeah and right,
- 49:49Speaker 2: you get to kind of make your own character. You're
- 49:50Speaker 2: still getting interesting choices like which of your friends are
- 49:53Speaker 2: you gonna date? And you know, things like that. And
- 49:59Speaker 2: it has the thing right, it has quidditch, it has
- 50:00Speaker 2: the magical creatures, like, it kind of has all the
- 50:02Speaker 2: little things, right because the Fantastic Beasts game that you know,
- 50:09Speaker 2: case files one that we had for a while that
- 50:12Speaker 2: was fun, but it was just the magical creatures. And
- 50:14Speaker 2: then you have like the Quidditch Champions, but that's just quidditch.
- 50:17Speaker 2: You have Hogwarts Legacy where I can run around the castle,
- 50:20Speaker 2: but that's about all I can do in that game,
- 50:22Speaker 2: Like they don't even have quidditch, like, so it.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Kind of yeah everything.
- 50:29Speaker 2: I think that's the big like thing is, oh, I
- 50:32Speaker 2: can actually go through Hogwarts and take the little classes,
- 50:36Speaker 2: and I think I think that's ultimately the appeal. And
- 50:39Speaker 2: because it consistently has new content coming out, it does
- 50:44Speaker 2: like I think it's maybe every other week. Now. Every
- 50:46Speaker 2: week there's a new chapter, like for the post Hogwarts thing,
- 50:50Speaker 2: since that's where we're at now. But right there's consistently
- 50:53Speaker 2: stuff coming out, so even if you were caught up,
- 50:56Speaker 2: you'd know within a week there would be more stuff
- 50:58Speaker 2: to do. And that's something, right. A lot of games
- 51:02Speaker 2: fall into is well, they did the thing, and now
- 51:06Speaker 2: you've completed the game and you've done all the side
- 51:07Speaker 2: quests and that's it.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so I feel like it, you know, well, it's
- 51:15Speaker 3: kept you engaged all these years. Even though you feel like,
- 51:18Speaker 3: you know, you have some issues with it, you're still
- 51:20Speaker 3: going back to play it. So I'm sure there's a
- 51:22Speaker 3: lot of other people that feel all right.
- 51:25Speaker 2: So here is my time side quest that is triggered
- 51:29Speaker 2: the Hogwarts Tapestry. Author Kingsley's Shackable is recruiting me on
- 51:34Speaker 2: a special mission. Will I uncover a lost piece of
- 51:38Speaker 2: Hogwarts past? Probably not, but if I've completed it, maybe
- 51:43Speaker 2: I will, and I'll get a special reward. But there's
- 51:46Speaker 2: been so many of these now that you have too
- 51:48Speaker 2: many special rewards and you don't have enough places to
- 51:51Speaker 2: put them all, so you have to pick and choose
- 51:54Speaker 2: which ones to keep out, and that's important because when
- 51:57Speaker 2: you tap them, they either give you energy or money,
- 52:01Speaker 2: or pages or empathy, courage, knowledge points, or gems. So
- 52:07Speaker 2: you have to decide what's important to you. It's a lot.
- 52:12Speaker 1: I feel like by comparison, the next one we're going
- 52:16Speaker 1: to talk about is so much nows.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Wouldn't I think?
- 52:21Speaker 2: Yeah, genuinely. When Hogwarts Mystery first copened in twenty eighteen,
- 52:24Speaker 2: I do think it was fun, Like the simplicity of
- 52:27Speaker 2: it was nice. But now there's just so much happening
- 52:31Speaker 2: in it. There's so many events constantly. There's so many,
- 52:34Speaker 2: like there's a new time side quest a month. That's
- 52:37Speaker 2: a lot, and most of them are completely dumb.
- 52:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but I wonder if the developers too are like,
- 52:45Speaker 3: because obviously it's been around for a while, if that's
- 52:48Speaker 3: their way of like trying to just keep people engaged,
- 52:51Speaker 3: and it's like it's working, but it's also sounds like
- 52:53Speaker 3: maybe it's also too much.
- 52:55Speaker 1: It's also kind of discouraging new people but keeping the old,
- 52:59Speaker 1: which yeah, yeah.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know, but that's why
- 53:05Speaker 2: I'm out with the game. Is the TL don't Listen
- 53:08Speaker 2: is there's a lot going on, and in my opinion,
- 53:12Speaker 2: the main story kind of finishes up after you figure
- 53:14Speaker 2: out the whole cursed fault thing. And maybe that's because
- 53:17Speaker 2: I'm not paying attention to the rest of it. Maybe
- 53:19Speaker 2: it gets more interesting. I don't know, but none of
- 53:21Speaker 2: it seemed interesting enough to The story itself is not
- 53:24Speaker 2: interesting enough to keep my attention.
- 53:27Speaker 3: So hm hmm.
- 53:31Speaker 2: Yeah, now we know the mystery that is everyone. See,
- 53:36Speaker 2: I told you guys, there was a lot about this game.
- 53:38Speaker 2: There's so much and that was like the low key version.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I could have done so much more, Like there's events
- 53:48Speaker 2: and stuff I did not talk about at all, Like
- 53:53Speaker 2: there's so much more I did.
- 53:58Speaker 3: Unfortunately, I sure did.
- 54:01Speaker 1: That's what I did get into.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Yeah, Amy and I are like, we can't talk about
- 54:08Speaker 3: it really other than what I can find on the internet.
- 54:10Speaker 2: And that even doesn't give you enough. But it's still around,
- 54:14Speaker 2: So if you want to try to slog three year three,
- 54:17Speaker 2: have fun, I guess.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Okay. Well, the only mobile game that I've ever played
- 54:26Speaker 1: for Harry Potter was Wizards Unite. All right, So Wizards
- 54:34Speaker 1: Unite came out after Hogwarts Mystery did. It was released
- 54:38Speaker 1: in twenty nineteen. It was shut down in twenty twenty two,
- 54:44Speaker 1: which is kind of sad because this game was actually
- 54:47Speaker 1: fun and I would definitely play it.
- 54:52Speaker 2: They did not give it long enough. They did not know.
- 54:56Speaker 1: So Wizards Unite was an augmented reality mobile game. It
- 55:01Speaker 1: was developed by Niantic and w WB Games San Francisco.
- 55:07Speaker 1: It was published by Niantic under a license with pork
- 55:11Speaker 1: Key Games. So Niantick is the same company that developed
- 55:15Speaker 1: Pokemon Go, and obviously the Pokemon Go craze influenced the
- 55:21Speaker 1: development of a Potter version of that game. And so
- 55:26Speaker 1: the beta version of Wizardsy Night was released in New
- 55:29Speaker 1: Zealand in April twenty nineteen and in Australia in May
- 55:33Speaker 1: of twenty nineteen, and then it was had a water
- 55:37Speaker 1: release in June of that same year. So the plot summary,
- 55:44Speaker 1: I just pulled this from the Harry Potter wiki to
- 55:46Speaker 1: try and sum this up a little bit. It's less
- 55:50Speaker 1: complicated than the last one we talked about, but sure
- 55:52Speaker 1: it still can get slightly confusing.
- 55:56Speaker 2: So here's the summary.
- 55:59Speaker 1: When unpredictable traces of magic appeared all over the Muggle world,
- 56:04Speaker 1: the wizarding world faced potential exposure to avert this calamity,
- 56:08Speaker 1: the Ministry of Magic began recruiting, which is in wizards
- 56:11Speaker 1: to join the Statue of Secrecy task Force. So yeah,
- 56:16Speaker 1: so basically you're playing this game as one of those
- 56:20Speaker 1: Wizards recruited for this task force to try and fix
- 56:24Speaker 1: this situation that they constantly refer to as the calamity.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Throughout the entire game, you choose your character's profession. You
- 56:35Speaker 1: can choose between a professor, a magic zoologist, or an orror,
- 56:40Speaker 1: and then you move around a map that's based off
- 56:44Speaker 1: of your real world geographical area to find these traces.
- 56:49Speaker 1: So those traces include creatures, items, memories, wizards, even and
- 56:57Speaker 1: your job is basically to hunt these down and return
- 57:00Speaker 1: them to the Ministry. So just like Pokemon Go, you know,
- 57:06Speaker 1: this game really encouraged people to move outside and get
- 57:11Speaker 1: that physical exercise and fresh air. In the process. It
- 57:16Speaker 1: did kind of also encourage like group gaming, which is
- 57:19Speaker 1: kind of fun, Like, you know, people would meet up
- 57:22Speaker 1: and go out and play Wizard's Night, just like they
- 57:25Speaker 1: would with Pokemon Go.
- 57:27Speaker 3: I wonder if this would have survived longer if it
- 57:29Speaker 3: didn't come out right around the pandemic. Yes, I feel
- 57:33Speaker 3: like that's what did it end?
- 57:34Speaker 2: That's fair. I remember when I downloaded it that summer
- 57:38Speaker 2: because I was spending a lot of time at my
- 57:41Speaker 2: now husband's house because we were like packing everything up
- 57:44Speaker 2: for a cross country move. And I remember like walking
- 57:47Speaker 2: out along his street because there were pokemono. They're like
- 57:51Speaker 2: the gyms, but you know, I don't remember what they
- 57:53Speaker 2: were called in Wizards Unite, but there was one. There
- 57:58Speaker 2: was like one at the end the street, and then
- 58:00Speaker 2: there was one like more towards the little park area.
- 58:03Speaker 2: And I remember, like being out in the freaking Arizona
- 58:05Speaker 2: heat in July, like walking to them, like entertaining myself, right,
- 58:12Speaker 2: and they it was fun.
- 58:13Speaker 1: They did like they tried to add a feature during
- 58:16Speaker 1: shutdowns that was like the night bus and you could
- 58:20Speaker 1: take the night bus to any location without actually leaving
- 58:24Speaker 1: your location. But yeah, I do think that definitely contributed
- 58:31Speaker 1: to shutting it down, which is unfortunate. It was a
- 58:35Speaker 1: really fun game. I enjoyed it. But yeah, uh so
- 58:41Speaker 1: there's like a few things that you are trying to
- 58:45Speaker 1: collect along the way. So the foundables is what they
- 58:50Speaker 1: call the things that you collect and return to the ministry.
- 58:54Speaker 1: That includes people, creatures, items, memories, Confoundables are the pieces
- 59:00Speaker 1: of chaotic magic that put the foundables in public places,
- 59:05Speaker 1: risking the breach of the Statute of secrecy. So if
- 59:08Speaker 1: you encounter a confoundable, you have to use spells against
- 59:12Speaker 1: them to try and free the foundables that they have trapped.
- 59:17Speaker 1: To do the spells, you're tracing like the symbol for
- 59:21Speaker 1: the spell with your finger on the screen. You have
- 59:25Speaker 1: to do it sometimes a couple times, and that usually
- 59:31Speaker 1: puts the foundable into your inventory. Spells do require spell energy,
- 59:39Speaker 1: which does not replenish with time, so like you couldn't
- 59:42Speaker 1: just like close out of the app and then like wait,
- 59:46Speaker 1: you had to actually go and visit ins in greenhouses
- 59:50Speaker 1: to replenish your energy.
- 59:53Speaker 2: I thought that's why I stopped playing.
- 59:55Speaker 1: Yeah, which was a problem during COVID.
- 59:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like you.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Can't like the greenhouses and inns were usually buildings and
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: more populated areas that they didn't want to be walking to.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: I thought that's why I stopp playing, because I could
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: keep playing Hogwarts Mystery from the comfort of my apartment
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: in Gorant.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Yes. Yes, so yeah, these buildings, like buildings on your
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: map in the real world, would show up as different
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: things like these inns in greenhouses and fortresses, which the
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: fortresses you could go and duel dark wizards and creatures,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: which was kind of yeah, that was really.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: Fun, quite as intense as like a friend die, right right.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: The greenhouses is where you would go to get potion ingredients.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: The inns is where you would go and replenish.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Your spell energy.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Uh so, just a lot of different things there. There
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: were a bunch of characters with this game, so kind
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: of the main one was Constance Pickering and she, yeah,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: everyone remembers Constant.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: She worked for the Ministry in Magic.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: She was the leader of this task force and she's
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: basically like your liaison, and she's like guiding you through
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: the game and what to do and giving you the backstory.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: There was Mordecai barry Cloth who was in Orror, Matilda
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: grimble Hawk, a Ministry investigator, Gareth green Grass who is
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: a nonspeakable, Grim Fowley who was a researcher at the Ministry.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Regina ral was another unspeakable, and then you also encounter
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: Minerva McGonagall and Harmione Granger as well.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, so how much of that I remember? Yeah,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: how much it's like coming back to me now. That
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: you're talking about.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Uh so the game it received mixed reviews.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: A lot of the issues.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Were that it ran like really really really slow on
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: older phone models, so if you didn't have the latest phone,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: you were not going.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: To get this to play. Yeah.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Yeah, sadly I never I never have it. Yeah, that
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: was kind of the issue I ran into was when
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: this came out, the phone I had couldn't run it,
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: and then by the time I got a new phone,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: it was about to shut down. So I only enjoyed
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: a little bit of this game, which was really sad.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: But yeah, the game ended service in twenty twenty two,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: so sad.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: That's why do I feel like that's longer than I
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: would have thought. But maybe it's because I fell off
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: and just kind of stopped tearing about it.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: Well, and those pandemic ears were like, yeah, you know,
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: they were really we super fair. Was you were talking
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: about it too. It reminded me because there's obviously some
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: other mobile games that have come out over the years
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: that like we didn't include in this episode, But when
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: you were taking it brought me back to a game
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: I loved which we didn't have in here. When you
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: were talking about having to trace the spell with your finger.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys remember it was called
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: Harry Potter Spells and it was on the iPod.
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: I don't never. Yeah, I don't have Apple stuff all.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: Right, right, I think it was only on iPod. But
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: it was like way back, like I played the high
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: school yeah, yes, yes, because you had to be able
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: look yep, okay, So I think it came out. I think,
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: I mean probably, like I graduated high school in two
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: thousand and nine, I feel like I played it around
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: like high school college, and I remember it had like
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: a blue cloudy background. I loved that game. And essentially
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: that game was all about like learning to do spells
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: and you would trace them with your finger. So I
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: just so many memories like flooded back when you were
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: talking about tracing the spells with your finger.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: We love a good tra scene, yes, I love. Yeah.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: That one didn't survive too too long either, I don't think.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: But see that's the weird one I did when I
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: would like play on my friends iPod touches was Tap
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: Tap Tap Tap Revolution, which was like Dance Dancer.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Too. Yeah, I played that too.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: I don't know if it still exists. But that was fun.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: The one that I was obsessed with on my iPod
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: touch was uh I think it was called like Zombie
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: Farm or something.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I played that too.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: My friend and I downloaded it as a joke and
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: then we both got like addicted to it. You would
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: like grew your little zombies and then you went to
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: battle against like a neighboring farmer, and when they were
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: ready to be harvested, it was.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: The little green thumb popped up out of the ground.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Why does that feel like? That was definitely made in
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: the era of like the Walking Dead.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: Boom actually, speaking of I guess to add an unofficial
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: Harry Potter mobile game and if someone.
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: Did create a Snitch version of like Flappy Bird, but
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: it was the fly like the Snitch. It did eventually, Yeah,
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: it did eventually go away because I used to play
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: that and I used to play a Doctor Hoover. Actually
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: do still play the Doctor Who version, but I think
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: at some point that Snitch one.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: There were there were a lot of versions, Like I
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: feel like I saw one where it was like Kim
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: Kardashian's head. There were a lot of them. Back in
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: the ear. Flappy Bird that was such a good time. Man,
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: let's go back to I need I need Temple Run
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: to make a comeback.
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: Temple Run is still around.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: I still play it, I know, but I feel like
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: we need like the back of it, like an update
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: of it. Yeah, let me like change characters, you know,
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: do some licensing. Let me like have cat and said
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: in there or something.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Yeah, they should make like a fourth waying variation of it.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: And it's like, yeah, anyways, we just well we wanted
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: to get we went off the rails. So I just
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: picture them like running on the parapet like they see
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: if they could do it. They could do it, could Okay? Anyways,
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: back to Harry Potter. So the next game that we
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: want to talk about is Harry Potter Puzzles and Spells.
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: So this game came out in twenty twenty. And this
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: is your kind of standard match three puzzle mobile game,
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: think like Candy Crush. So this is basically Wizarding World
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: Candy Crush. And so this game was developed by Zinga
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: and published also by port Key Games in September of
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: twenty twenty, as I mentioned, And you can play this
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: on Android, iOS, Amazon, Kindle, and Facebook Gaming.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: What's on Facebook?
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: It is on Facebook Gaming it is.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: I did not know that Hubbard's Mystery is on Facebook
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: for our window of time, but sometime in like twenty
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: twenty two, maybe twenty twenty one, it got removed.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Interesting, well, this, as far as I know, is still
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: on Facebook Gaming. Nice and so yeah, so this one
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: is like again pretty straightforward, like as a player, you're
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: solving different puzzles by matching you know, your three little
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: colors or your three shapes or whatever, and as you
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: do this, you can unlock various spells and potions and
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: magical creatures. You utilize different boosts and power ups to
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: clear like hazards that show up on the board, and
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: of course all those hazards are themed to different you know,
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Harry Potter elements, and you can also participate in spell
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: Upgrade events where you can solve different puzzles that are
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: themed around the various Hogwarts classes. And as you play
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: through the game and the different levels, you'll visit familiar
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Wishing World locations, and you also kind of like play
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: through like puzzles that are themed after iconic moments from
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: the Harry Potter films. I would say like they're very
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: like and also the books too, Like you could loosely
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: tie some of the puzzles to like certain chapters of
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: the books, but I think it's definitely focused on like
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: let's do our most iconic things. So think like obviously
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: like Platform nine and three quarters, going to diagon Alley,
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: like dealing with Man Drakes, like a lot of those
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: iconic moments.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: Cool.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: And one thing that is cool about this that I
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: think you don't typically see in a lot of other
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: like Match three games, is that like because it's a
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: Harry Potter game, like, they of course have an element
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: where you can customize and create your own character, which
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: I think is really cool. So you can customize your appearance,
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: you can choose a wand you can choose your house,
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: so the standard things that you know, we typically see
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: with Harry Potter games. And then there would.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Be like a riot if they didn't let you choose your.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Choose something yeah yeah, yeah, sure, yeah, but they just
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: put you in a random house, Like yeah.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: I think that would have been one of those things
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: that have had happened, they would have immediately like pushed
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: an update and like correct today.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: And then there is like a little bit of a
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: like social element to the game as well. Players can
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: form clubs together. Obviously you've got people in different houses, right,
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: so there's different things that can happen there as well,
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: and you can participate in differently cooperative activities with other players,
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: which is cool too. And yeah, I mean with this game,
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: it's pretty like, I don't have anything super cool to
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: like share about it other than it I think it
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: is really well done for It's been a little bit
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: since I've played it, but this is the mobile game
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: that I've played the most, and I think they've done
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: a really good job with it, and they continue to
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: update it. I know in some of like our news
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: sections of other episodes, we've talked about like different puzzles
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: that are coming, different scenes that are coming, So yeah,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: like Hogwart's Mystery, they kind of are continuing to add
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: different things to it to make it, you know, fun.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: This is a game that if you, uh, you could
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: easily jump into Puzzles and sees because a new player,
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: unlike Hogwarts Mystery. So I really like these types of
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: games because they're just so mindless and they're addict they're
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: so addicted. So yeah, but yeah, that's Puzzles and Spells cool.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: I like the graphics for that one. I haven't played
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: it in a while. I think I downloaded it like
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: around the time it was first, But I don't end
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: up playing a lot of match three games. I do
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: a lot of like the matching tiles, like Jong style
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: games or like Sudoku. But I remember really liking the
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: graphics because they're very The colors, at least for me,
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: were very vivid on my screen and looked really nice
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: because like Candy Crush, the colors are vivid, but they're
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: vivid all in the same way, so they all like
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: one together.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: Mute it I think. I actually think Candy Crush kind
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: of looked a little muted yeah after a while, and
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: like dull I feel like, but no, they did a
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: really good job with the graphics with puzzles and spells.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: I need to re download it and get back into
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: it because it was really fun.
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: You could have been playing it on your cruise, right,
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: I know, because I was. So you don't need Internet
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: at out things.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: I don't think you do. You would for like obviously
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: like the social components and the challenges and stuff, but
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: if you're just going through the levels, yeah, I don't
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: think you need to be on internet.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: See like Hagrid smister, you always got to be attached. Yeah,
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: because it's like always like remotely saving your thing and
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: like all this stuff. Another con. I guess I'll just
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: keep coming up.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: With more, but it's just gonna keep playing it.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Look, I think I think it's my sunk cost fallacy
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: at this point. I think that's what it is for me,
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: and you know, randomly when I want to interact with
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: my swooping evil because.
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: Well, I mean, from what I remember, I don't remember
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: having any issues with Puzzles and Spells.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: So definitely.
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: Definitely download.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: Since two out of the four games you're talking about
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: you can't download anymore. Of the two you can download,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Puzzles and Spells is the way to go. Yeah.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: I literally am re putting.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: It on my right now, Mystery out right now.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: Welcome back. It's funny though, because I went to my
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: Little Games folder and I definitely do still have Hogwarts Mystery,
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: and I actually still have oh my god, this would
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: I need to delete this but it's not downloaded on
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: my phone but it's still showing. But I have the
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: Fantastic Beasts, the Old the Wow, it's wait, it's still
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: the case.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I forgot that was even a thing.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: Honestly, it was good.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: I didn't I didn't think it would actually open. Y'all,
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: this game is still works wild. I wonder if you're
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: still in the app store when I say it was
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: called fant okay, Well, maybe we should have added this
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: one into our little thing too, because I did not
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: expect that that game.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: No, I didn't think that would wild.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: I mean still in the app store. Well, funny story,
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: it's not still in the app store.
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: So must just be. If you already have it down,
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: you're good.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: But I haven't. I haven't updated it in probably like
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: six years.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: Interesting, I mean no, neither is anyone else.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's so wild. So last game that's on our
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: list none of us have played. Oh yeah, So I'm
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: not gonna spend a lot of time on this.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: I'm just gonna give a rundown.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Harry Potter. Magic Awakened was released in twenty twenty one,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: and it's shut down in most markets in twenty twenty
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: four and twenty twenty five. It's an RPG game with
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: card based combat elements, and it is based ten years
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: after the Battle of Hogwarts. It was developed by WB
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: and Knee Tees under the port key Games Umbrella. It
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: was first released in Asian markets, where it still seems
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: to be playable even though shut down for the rest
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: of the world.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: This was like a tabletop RPG with cards, but on
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: your phone correct innovated.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: So didn't Tom play this? I feel like Tom was
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: sad when we found out it was going away, Like
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: I remember us talking about that in a segment Innovated.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: So.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Here's the plot summary from Harry Potter wikie h. Ten
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: years after Harry Potter's legendary victory over Lord Valdemore at
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: the Battle of Hogwarts, a young Muggelborne receives an unexpected
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: visit from a giant of a man by the name
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: of Rubius Hagrid, who has come to deliver their letter
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: of acceptance to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: Hagrid explains to them about the existence of the wizarding
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: world and accompanies them to Diagon Alley, where they purchased
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: necessary supplies for their first year. Upon arriving, however, a
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: mystery begins to unfold, and on the mystery sorry on
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: the grounds when one of the first years, Ivy Warrington,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: goes mysteriously missing after the sorting ceremony. Why are all
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: these students going missing?
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: Is Hogwarts even really that safe?
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: No, no, we know this first. Jacob the player thus
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: starts their numerous adventures at Hogwarts by finding Ivy first.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Oh okay, so at least.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: They find you're effectively Harry Potter two point out.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: That's what I was like. This seems like Hagrid is
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: like cheating on Harry here creating.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: Gosh mm hmm weird.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Yeah, so it looks like in this game, you know,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: you like choose your avatar, you choose your house, you
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: attend lessons, you join the dueling club. So how this
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: works as a card based game but on a mobile
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: device is you collect spells in the form of cards.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: So yeah, it's like a tabletop card RPG kind of thing,
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: but they're like digital and on your phone, and you
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: need the card in order to use the spells in
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: combat or for the story. There's also quidditch apparently, where
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: you have to tap.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: To dodge the bludgers and stuff like that.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: The House Cup you compete for with different challenges that
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: are held daily in the form of duels or quidditch matches.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: This made me laugh.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: Apparently there's a dance club feature where you play a
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: rhythm game to dance.
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: I love Rhythm, the high School musical rhythm game that
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: I could play on my Nintendo DS. Yeah, I love
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: rhythm games. They should come out with a Harry Potter
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: rhythm game with like the music.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Top Top Prevolution. But Harry Potter Cotter.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: Well, sorry, there's a I have to put this idea
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: out right because like we always put ideas out on
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: our podcast, and if God forbid, anybody listens to our
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: podcast and they get this idea. But there's this game
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: that I play on my Nintendo three d as that
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: is a rhythm game with oh my god, the name
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: is Escaping Me. What is the the disney Oh my god,
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: Oh my god. Oh I couldn't think of it. So
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: it's like but it's like a rhythm game to the music,
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: because like the music of Final Fantasy is really big
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: as well in the game like video gaming music community,
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: and it's like I can picture them doing this with
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: like very similar but using it with Harry Potter, and
- 1:18:57Speaker 3: they have it where there's like four like characters that
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: are like and they do different moves, but they're like
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: as they do moves and as you like, like do
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: the moves correct you attack something, So like all you
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: got to do is put like I don't know, a
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: dat theater or like Baltimore or like.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: A rhythm game to defeat Voldemort dance that.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: So but it would be so fun and chill and struss.
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: It's fun.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: But anyways, carry on. I just add that idea pop
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: and I could see it in my brain.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Yeah, so, I guess, you know, taking place only ten
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: years after the Harry Potter timeline, there's a lot of
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: familiar characters that pop up in this game. Most of
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: the Hogwarts staff is the same. Obviously, we get Nevill
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Longbottom as a professor in this game, and the list
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: of like students you interact with a lot of them
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: have familiar last names as well.
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: Love that so hashtag nepotism.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean that's really all I have to
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: say about Magic Awakened, because.
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: I remember downloading it but not enjoying the art style
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: a ton, so then I promptly undownloaded it. Oops.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I was reading that. You know, even though it's
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: not available in a lot of places, you can change
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: your location.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: You're going to the app store and then you can download.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: But from an Asian country.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: Yeah, spell, Puzzles and spells are still the best one.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah. Specialis all right.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: So it's been a while since we've done a specialis
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: for Velio, but we wanted to do one this episode.
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: Because with all of these.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: Mobile games there's spells of some sort involved. So I
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: chose to dive into the etymology of uh, I'm gonna
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: say it wrong, MEI meati, all the jinks for medio mediology,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: inks for canto.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: I did that to myself. You did? You did?
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: I think that?
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: But this spell I chose because I know it appears
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: in most of the mobile games. I don't know about
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: puzzles and spells, but the other ones we talked about,
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: it's definitely in there. And this is the spell that
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: mister Weasley recommends rereg Cattermole aka Ron tries to stop
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: the raining in Yaxley's office and Deathly Hallows. This could
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: also be the spell that movie version matd Ee Moody
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: uses on the ceiling in the Great Hall and Goblet
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: of Fire. So obviously this spell name is derived from meteorology,
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: which we know is the scientific study of the Earth's atmosphere,
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: including the weather and the word meteorology has Greek roots,
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: with the word meteoron roughly meaning phenomenon in.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: The sky, no band name.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: I call it Greek, I think, yeah, definitely. Greek philosopher
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: Aristotle wrote the first major report on the Earth's atmosphere,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: called meteorology, meteor meteorology, meteorologic.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: Let me just say arologia. Don't think about it.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: There you go too many? He wrote that, wrote that
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: one in three hundred and fifty BCE. It remained a
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: well regarded authority on the subject for over two thousand years.
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: So go Aristotle. What wasn't he just throw that over
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: just saying yeah, he was kind of smart or something.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: So then the other part of this meteorology inks, the
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: jinks part. Obviously, jinks means bringing bad luck or casting
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: an evil spell. In the Harry Potter universe, a jinx
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: is usually like a mischievous or annoying charm, not dark magic,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: but more like irritating or for amusement, rather than doing
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: serious harm. Recanto comes from the word wecan't, meaning to
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: do recan't is Latin. Yeah, So basically mediologys for kanto
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: basically means to undo a bit of bad luck of weather.
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: I love that.
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: So yeah, I did look it up, and I do
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: not think that this one appears in Puzzles and Spells.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: It looks like it is only in Hogwarts Mystery and
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: Wizards Unite. Honestly, what there are a lot of spells
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: and puzzles and spells.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's in the name, not this one, right,
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: but not this one. This one's too cool. Watch They're
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: going to listen to our podcast and it's going to
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: be the next blak event. This one's too hard, right,
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: Like you stole the idea from us to include a
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: spell and an ip We don't know how dare are you?
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: Hm hmm Yeah, so that is kind of the anymology
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: behind that.
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: So nice. So in the last episode, we asked you guys,
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: what do you think could happen in a Hogwarts Legacy sequel?
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: Which we know that there's a sequel in development, so
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: maybe some of these ideas will show up. We got
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: a few responses, so Jerry shared, I think it might
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: allow visits to at least one other wizarding school. I
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: think Olver Morny or Bobaton's are most likely. That would
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: have to create uniforms for the male students from scratch,
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: since the movies and Epic Universe only have female students
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: for either of these schools, that'd be really cool involve
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: the other schools for sure.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: T Yeah, and like I know we said in the
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: last episode. I think it was Sam brought it up,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: like how cool would it be to get Hogwarts legacy
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: style games based at these other schools?
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: Yeah, honestly, Yeah, someone take me to Castella Broxo. Yes,
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: I'm unsure if the Exosi or someone take me there.
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: I really want to go to derm Strength because I
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: just want to find out if, like they're all so
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: intense all the time.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: Are they all always? I feel like they are.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: I think so too when I kind of am here
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: for it, so.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Honestly am they walk around learning their little like staff choreography.
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: They all have staffs and they're just walking.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: Around whenever my nephriends are watching, like because they'll watch
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: through the movies and that's staff And I can't help
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: but laugh every time, and even like with the Bow
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: and I'm like, is this dancing well?
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: And it's so funny when you watch the show at Universal,
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: like when they're when they do the Bobaton's and derm striding.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: Because of course, you obviously have people in the crowds
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: that I think have probably never watched the films or
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: like picking up and then when they're all like, everyone's like,
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: oh what is going on?
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: That's funny?
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: Yeah, well great idea. Jerry love that and actually fandom
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: Shmandam had a very kind of like similar like idea.
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: They said some sort of interschool tournament should happen, so
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: you know, yeah, like let's bring like the Try Wizard tournament,
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: but make it like more than Try Wizard. Yeah, and
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: maybe like not so scary and full of death, like
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: maybe a little bit more fun. But as they know,
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: the wizarding world really likes death of students.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: So I mean like in Hogwarts Legacy, there's like camp
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: sites where like everyone's just like, oh.
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: That's the student we want to kill. So obviously, yeah,
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: there's hot up.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: I don't think every time every time I learned something
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: about Hogwarts Legacy, I'm like, oh, okay, I don't know
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: a lot about Hogwarts Legacy, but I know there's no quidditch.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: I know we love Sebastian, and I know that you
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: can learn the dark unforgivable you.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Can, yes, but you know you can't use it inside
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: Hogwarts apparently.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Oh ye, fair question.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: Then, but you hos plot hole fair game?
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: How did he? How how did fake Moody do it? Then?
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: I don't know. In for plot hole, I don't know. Sorry,
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: it's probably not actually a plot. They take place in
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: different periods of time.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: It's more like, if you use it in Hogwarts, I
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: think your character just gets in trouble and then like
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: you can't use it again.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: Which fair I mean is it's called an unforgived You
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: kind of can't just like kill other students, you know.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: I feel like you have to like let that get
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: you in trouble unless you're history then nothing gets you.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: In cab at it.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: Just do better next time.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: Yeah, You'll have a little talk with Dumbledore and I'm like,
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: just do better next time. Don't show anymore students.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: We'll understand.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: He'll be like, are you doing this thing? And BE
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: like no, Dumbledore and he's like, look, I know you're
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: doing the thing. Here's how to do it.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: And I'm like, okay, a better way to do it.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: I love fostering magical growth and my students. Yeah, Anyways,
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: something that you had actually just mentioned was, is lucy
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: suggestion is that you know Quidditch one thousand percent needs
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: to be there.
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: I don't. I don't get why it isn't.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: There, Which is funny because my least favorite part of
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: Hogwarts Legacy is the flying challenges. Hate them so much,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: so bad at them. I one of them. I had
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: to cheat and go into my settings and set it
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: on story mode so that I didn't actually have to
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: like fully do well in the flying Challenge.
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: To move on. So I switched it to story mode,
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: failed the.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: Challenge, came back out of the challenge, and still got
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: to move on, and then I reset my settings to normal.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: That's so funny, Like I can't do this.
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm having a story mode player all the time.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: Anyways.
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: But yeah, I think like Quidditch would do really well,
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: because I mean I actually really like the quidditch games
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: like that come out too, So yeah, I could see
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: I could see that being in this in the second one,
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: unless for some reason they're like not allowed to do it,
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: but I can't imagine.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: I think the issue was there was so much watch
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: else going on in this game that they literally did
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: not have.
- 1:31:04Speaker 3: Space for quite but yeah, well that's what sequels are for, right.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: Mm hmmmm hm, and watch them still not put quidditch.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: It's like, do you guys know the game Planet Zoo? No? No,
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: I mean it's just a game and you make a zoo. Uh.
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: They would put out new animal packs all the time,
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: but they never put out any birds like they did
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: like an ostrich and stuff, but no birds that fly.
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: There was never like a flying mechanic. And then they
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: added backs and like butterflies and people are like, Okay,
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: it's coming, We're getting birds. Nope, never gotten birds.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: Huh.
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: Then they moved on to developing Planet Zoo too, and
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: supposedly this will have birds, but it became like a
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: whole thing where they're like, look, it's a new animal
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: pack and everyone's like does it have birds And they're
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: like well no, and they're like we don't want it, no,
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: thank you, Like we have enough things. Give us birds.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: So we'll see. If number two actually has birds in it.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: I would say maybe it's a logistical thing, but if
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: they can do other flying creatures, then yeah.
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: See. My conspiracy was that the like team member working
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: on the Burbs left and had like a clause in
- 1:32:22Speaker 2: their contract that they could like take the take unfinished
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: code with them and that nobody could recreate it. That's
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: my conspiracy theory. I don't know if it's true, but
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: that's my conspiracy theory. Well, folks, we're leaving you with
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: another discussion question. Wow, shocker. I know, and we've talked
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: about a lot of different mobile games today. They all
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: kind of have their different thing. But what kind of
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: Harry Potter mobile game would you like to see next?
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: We'd love to hear your thoughts. You probably we will
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: design something better than any of these people did because
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: you're fans, So please drop us an email at Rebellio

- 1:33:41Speaker 1: All right, so Liz, this is your moment. Is there
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: anything you want to plug where our listeners can find
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: you and all of the.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: Work you do. Wow, Oh, some of you want to
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: hear me continue to talk reading them things with Amy
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: that are like tangentially Harry Potter related. You can see
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: me over at Expecto Podtronum, where we talk about Patronis's
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: and honestly a lot of tangents. If you're a Hunger
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: Games fan, you can find me at PanAm Parley where
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: me and my co host Carmen and I think Carmen
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: was on here a while back. We talk about Hunger
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: Games and we're rereading the books right now. And that's
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: over on Instagram at PanAm Parley Pod, and I have
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: a Bookstagram if you just want to follow along for
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: books recommendations. I'm on Instagram at Liz and Young ninety seven,
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: not super original. I'm reading lots of books. I'm currently
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: trying to get through my backlist of books that I
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: want to read because they remind me of Harry Potter
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: in some way. Like there's one Evergreen Academy and it's
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: a trilogy of like Magical Botanist College that looks really
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: fun and there I have one. This one is called
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: King's Preparatory. Oh my blur, there we go and it's
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: a magical school in the desert. And that's so. I
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: have stuff like that and I'm hoping to read some
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: of them and put together a list for everyone that
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: may be will put on the Rebellion website if I
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: ever do it.
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, that's that's me.
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: And of course I'll still be doing social media here.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm glad we finally got you on an episode.
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: You guys keep talking about it, like.
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: Rant about Hogwart's mystery and convince you not to start
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: the game with this.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: I'm definitely convinced if you're.
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: On the fence, don't do it. It's you've kind of
- 1:36:02Speaker 2: missed the window to have a pleasant experience in the game. Yeah,
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: this is all right. Thank you, Yeah, thank you, thank you.
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: Until next time, I'm Amy, I'm Nicole, and I'm Liz.
- 1:36:20Speaker 2: Mission managed
