- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for having me.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: I love your podcasts and the messages that come true.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_02]: Regina, could you please share a bit about your background and what led you to where you are today
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I started out in real estate doing marketing for 20 years.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: When I was a child, I said, I want to live in a mall and I got my wish.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: I worked in shopping center marketing for 20 years.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I started to notice that the fashion and marketing side of it was kind of leaving that part of my life and it was becoming about crisis management.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I realized I was ready to go and I had been on a journey of meditation for about 10 years.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I tell people I meditated my way out of corporate America.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: I had just finished getting my yoga certification when I left corporate America.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: And once I said yes to leaving my job and taking a huge leap of faith and I had done a lot of work to get to that point to be able to do that wasn't like, you know, throwing caution to the wind there was prep.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: I left and in the next.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: 11 months I started teaching yoga on a regular basis and figuring out how to make money on my own.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: So meditation and just saying yes to things that I loved were the background and kind of the unfolding of coming to this point of being entrepreneur, independent, and continuing to teach the things that I learned along the way.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: What a wonderful story.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for sharing.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited for you to share more with us today.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: Well, Regina, what inspired you to create conscious connector and how does the concept of conscious leadership guide your work in building connections and fostering community?
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Well, conscious connector came to me, I was, so on that way out of corporate America, I had said yes to working at this marketing agency.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I was working two full-time jobs, and my, we had these unique titles, and they're like, I'm not just connected for you, completely resonates.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: And in leadership, I would say through meditation,
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: This consciousness of other people and where they were coming from and also that intuitive side was really starting to pour out of me and I was really disabled and meet people where they were at and use that in leadership to mentor and navigate.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: relationships in corporate America, which seems really unusual when I look back at it, but it was really working for me.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I got to meet people where they were out.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: We worked well together, relationships were thriving.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: And in the shopping center world, it was just building community,
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: I started to hear what other people were doing in their businesses and being like, oh my gosh, you could be bringing this to life on social media and sharing your story.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: And being able to be a deep active listener of other people's voices.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: I was able to bring it to life authentically on their social media channels and they were getting results and they were telling me, you know, people are coming up to me saying, I can't believe how much you're doing.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: You're everywhere.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I built a business around this in a matter of months.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: Congratulations, that's amazing.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so glad you found that and you are able to have a positive influence on so many people.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: wasn't handed to me, but it was more of using the skills that I had from being in marketing so many years and then taking it to that next level through meditation and being so connected to myself that I could really be able to connect with others.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: That's amazing.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for sharing that.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: Regina, how do you see kindness, mentorship and conscious actions shaping the way businesses and individuals create meaningful relationships kindness, I mean kindness in everything kindness comes first, I I really lived from.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: nonjudgment.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I won't say that I am that I'm free of judgment, but I practice nonjudgment.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: And it's through this practice, it's called a course of miracles.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's a study of love or fear.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I recognize, first, when I am in judgment, and then, you know, stealing that, that those thoughts and those ideas that are coming that are creating blocks to really connecting with
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: allowing myself to approach someone as if I know nothing about them and really opening up to what I call for myself.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: I open up to spirit.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I just open up to the spirit of the situation without me being in the way with my thoughts and I allow the unfolding of it to happen naturally.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's not easy.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was hit over the head with the wand and I can do this.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's a daily practice of watching my thoughts, seeing what's coming up and then being able to still the mind or even if you can't still it, recognize that that's what's happening at the moment and being open to something else.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's really good advice and I think in the today's day and age.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much judgment, right?
- 7:47[SPEAKER_02]: And if each one of us can take a step back and try and live a life without judgment and catch ourselves, do many tips for helping us catch ourselves?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, walk into the situation as if you know nothing.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: because if we walk in thinking that we know, then we're already in a place where judgment is there.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: So if we can invite in the mystery, the unknown, the unexpected, then we create space for that, and we get out of the way of our own story.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: But I think of really important thing also to do,
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: You never want to bypass yourself or shove something back down.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: So there is a recognition that some things here, it's bubbling up.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm seeing it.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm also willing to...
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: have something different.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: Act is if I really don't know.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: And when you come face to face with someone who you know creating new relationships and I think that this is so helpful is to allow that mystery and uncertainty and I think not knowing is more helpful than knowing.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's amazing advice.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not gonna help you be more open.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's our openness.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: It truly is like, I don't know if you've ever heard of Mickey's Michael Singer, I call him Mickey Singer.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: He does reference himself in Mickey Singer.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: He wrote a book called The Untethered Soul.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: And he speaks of this often in his book, just about,
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: the inquisitiveness, even being inquisitive about yourself.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Because we think we know, we know, we know, we know, but we don't know, we just, we don't know everything.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that's where the gift is.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: When we can admit, we don't know.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_02]: I love that.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for sharing that great tips.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_02]: Virginia, for someone looking to make a positive difference in their personal or professional circles, what first steps would you recommend
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: caring for yourself first, making sure that your cup is full, even if it's sometimes some of things that I say, I'm like, it's so simple, but we don't do it enough is just checking in with yourself.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Do I need anything?
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Do I need a glass of water?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Am I, you know, am I basic needs being met right now?
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: Did I eat today?
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's simply first checking in with yourself because we are useless to people if we haven't filled our own cup and that's where I would start first is that.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: And again, the openness that we just talked about in the last question, opening ourselves up to possibility, openness and taking care of ourselves first.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: I really believe that that is first and foremost where the creative possibilities and relationships and connections can really stand from.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: The last thing I would say is be an active listener to whoever it is that you are coming in connection with.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: Open your ears up to what they're saying and try not to articulate what you wanna say to respond to them, just really listen.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like there's not enough listening happening because we're too quick, we're already thinking like I wanna respond to this.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: how am I going to respond to this?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: So we're not even present with the person as they're sharing.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: So that would be the other part of the connection is active listening.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: Leaders to current challenging, what strategies do you use to say grounded and maintain your motivation to uplift others, especially during difficult times?
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll reiterate,
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Taking that time for yourself to breathe, listen to something that fuels your own positivity, like an affirmation type of meditation.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: I find insight timer to be incredibly helpful because they have five minute meditations available.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: And it's free.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: And also,
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: looking for evidence that even though times are tough, reminding myself that this is happening for us and looking for evidence of how things are actually working out.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: Because we're our focuses, I mean, we've all heard the statement a thousand times, like where we focus is what we're gonna get.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I said that statement quite how it is typically said that you get the gist.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: evidence evidence of the opposite of what we're believing.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: So if we're thinking something is wrong, where's evidence that this is not true?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: And sort of bring your attention to that even if you have to write it down, this always will shift your mind to be able to see that things are not as bad as they seem to be and really help to uplift you and then you will be that vessel of uplifting
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I think also the other thing is safety feeling good and safe in yourself and emanating that and that reassurance from your you as a leader will bring that to your team and just create deeper connection and willingness.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for sharing that and I like that you mentioned the insight timer for those of you that are not familiar the insight timer is an app that you can just download on your phone and they have all different types of meditation I mean there's probably hundreds of thousands of them on there and it's free.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so check out that app.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's a wonderful app.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: I love it too.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: Regina what message or words of encouragement would you like to share with our listeners who aspire to make a positive difference in the world.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: be easy on yourself.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's a big world out there and deep acceptance of, deep acceptance of how things are at the moment.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: I believe that that really helps us to navigate whatever our next best step is rather than trying to change the world, change yourself and the world will
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: and do all of this in peace.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: Don't do it and harm yourself with wearing yourself out, overdoing it, self-criticism, really pay attention to how you're treating yourself because again,
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: how you treat yourself is going to flow through you.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're being mean to yourself, chances are that it's coming through you in some way.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: So kindness to yourself and it will fuel the world with kindness to others.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: great advice.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much, Regina.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so grateful that you are here with us today and you shared your story and your all your advice and your tips and tricks and the references.

- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Speak which true for me and so it's so like healing and helpful to be able to use your
