- 0:16Speaker 2: Texas to eight one five three zero, followed by your message.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Standard message and data rates may apply.
- 0:24Speaker 2: All right, here's a question for you, Cam. Can you
- 0:28Speaker 2: tell me the name of the Division two college? Actually
- 0:36Speaker 2: they're transitioning and they have I beg pardon FCS transitioning
- 0:41Speaker 2: in the FCS and eventually Division one basketball. Say in Commerce, Texas,
- 0:46Speaker 2: Can you tell me the name of the college there?
- 0:48Speaker 3: Would it just be Texas A and M Commerce the laws?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Yes, Now that's part one. Here's part two. That was
- 0:54Speaker 2: the first Texas game I did women's basketball. That's right,
- 0:57Speaker 2: And you got in the car crash in the car,
- 0:59Speaker 2: there's right. Do you know what the original name of
- 1:03Speaker 2: the school was?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Man, you know what? I believe?
- 1:08Speaker 2: I actually sait it on the broadcast and did you
- 1:10Speaker 2: really Yep? It was East Texas State. Yes, we're one
- 1:14Speaker 2: of the greatest Dallas Cowboy defensive linemen graduated from Harvey Martin.
- 1:18Speaker 3: He was from East Texas.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Okay, so they've been and M Commerce for a while.
- 1:25Speaker 2: They're dropping the Commerce changing their name. It became official
- 1:29Speaker 2: today during its quarterly meeting, the Texas A and M
- 1:34Speaker 2: University System Board of Regents voted to change the name
- 1:37Speaker 2: of Texas A and M University commerce too, East Texas
- 1:42Speaker 2: A and M, like West Texas A and M. You
- 1:44Speaker 2: know the one up and the panel that used to
- 1:46Speaker 2: be West Texas State one in Canyon. It's going by
- 1:49Speaker 2: East Texas A and M. The Chancellor John Sharp said,
- 1:54Speaker 2: and I agree with this quote. This is long overdue
- 1:57Speaker 2: and it returns to the original tradition of E T
- 2:00Speaker 2: as the university's symbol while raising its prominence. This university
- 2:03Speaker 2: has always been bigger than one town in Texas. So
- 2:09Speaker 2: East Texas A and M they will hence falls, they
- 2:15Speaker 2: will be known as East Texas A and M. On
- 2:18Speaker 2: a John Cougar Mellencamp then, huh, John Cougar Mellencamp, because
- 2:22Speaker 2: then he dropped the Cougar, just went by John Mellencamp,
- 2:25Speaker 2: you know, and changed his name. Yeah, it was first
- 2:27Speaker 2: first he was John Cougar, then it was John Cougar Mellencamp.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Okay, and then then for a while he was just Mellencamp.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Now that's going back to John Mellencamp, which kind of
- 2:36Speaker 2: makes sense. He's good to see in concert. Have you
- 2:38Speaker 2: ever seen him in concert?
- 2:39Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I'm actually, if we did the music survey, I might
- 2:44Speaker 2: change him to the most overrated.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Oh ridiculous. I'm not a Mellencamp fan at all. Okay, okay,
- 2:52Speaker 3: all right, Jack.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And Diane worst thing I've ever heard? Did not stand
- 2:56Speaker 2: Jack and Diane?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Brother?
- 2:59Speaker 2: Or you're staying with Pink Houses. I don't think I
- 3:01Speaker 2: know that one. Oh you would know it, then I
- 3:04Speaker 2: probably also have to stain for it. Pink Houses. Yeah,
- 3:09Speaker 2: you gonna pull it up, John Cougar Mellen Camp hurts
- 3:13Speaker 2: so good, disgusting. I hate that song, Pink Houses. Did
- 3:17Speaker 2: you find it?
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah? Play it?
- 3:19Speaker 2: Play fel there's probably gonna be a Liberty Mutual forty
- 3:22Speaker 2: second advertisement really coming up?
- 3:24Speaker 3: So he is.
- 3:25Speaker 2: He was honored at Indiana University the same week Game
- 3:28Speaker 2: Day was.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah he was, Yeah he was.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Oh it's it's an official music video, so this is
- 3:36Speaker 2: there you go. He was filmed in Austin, Indiana. I
- 3:40Speaker 2: didn't know there was an Austin Indiana either.
- 3:44Speaker 3: So it doesn't sound familiar yet.
- 3:46Speaker 2: It sounds like every other other one of those songs
- 3:48Speaker 2: puts out all right, listen to this.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Man Oh yeah, I know this song.
- 4:00Speaker 4: He's got in the stage on it through his front child.
- 4:04Speaker 3: You know what any think thinks? It's gotta makes good. Yeah,
- 4:07Speaker 3: it's so good at the Interstate running through his front yard.
- 4:10Speaker 4: You know, Netlemona in the cas.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Dealing out the evening slope.
- 4:19Speaker 4: And he looks shutter, he says, hey, dolling, I can
- 4:23Speaker 4: remember when you go from Starving Flower. Here's the chorus,
- 4:27Speaker 4: Oh dude, ain't boun and Barry Flower, you wind me,
- 4:32Speaker 4: ain't down of Barry bar someone to sea, babe.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Ain't din of Barry, hold on freeze a little friend garls.
- 4:43Speaker 3: This is where he gets rocking.
- 4:56Speaker 2: So you know, only you know better than hurts so
- 4:58Speaker 2: good and Jack and Diane give you that.
- 5:01Speaker 3: It's a little bit more of an American anthem. Yeah,
- 5:03Speaker 3: I just I don't know. I just don't like his sound.
- 5:05Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't care. I'm sorry to offend you.
- 5:09Speaker 2: If you're a big I am a fan of fang.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I saw him at the Urine Center. Is good, it's good.
- 5:14Speaker 3: He's still turning. I think out there it's.
- 5:17Speaker 2: A big, big, real tight with Willie Nelson. By the way,
- 5:20Speaker 2: Oh boy, they helped create farm Aid because he cares
- 5:24Speaker 2: about farm aid. Yeah, the concert series when they were
- 5:27Speaker 2: trying to help all the farmers, that's a real thing.
- 5:30Speaker 2: You ever heard of farm aids Okay? I remember Live
- 5:34Speaker 2: Aid Okay, it was an offshoot of Live as Farming.
- 5:38Speaker 3: You're so young, Okay, farm Maid.
- 5:41Speaker 2: If I ask you this question, it's a band playing
- 5:44Speaker 2: at emos to stop it.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Uh uh. This was a Heather Dinni's question.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I put it to you who will be the last
- 5:53Speaker 2: meeting team between Oregon, Miami, BYU, Indiana and Army. This
- 5:58Speaker 2: included going into the Differens Championships are after let's just
- 6:02Speaker 2: say going into the conference champions I would say Miami
- 6:05Speaker 2: most likely. Well, what's Oregon schedule? Me pull up Oregon schedule.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I think it's I think it's a cruise.
- 6:10Speaker 3: From here Maryland.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Wisconsin has got a bunch of injuries in Washington, so yeah, Oregon,
- 6:15Speaker 2: because Miami's had a little had some close calls. So
- 6:19Speaker 2: think it would be Oregon and Miami both will probably yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 2: probably be that.
- 6:23Speaker 3: You think Army will lose to Notre Dame.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah, And then looking at by u's upcoming schedule, they
- 6:31Speaker 2: still have Utah home for Kansas at Arizona State, who's
- 6:37Speaker 2: got maybe the most underrated running back with the best
- 6:40Speaker 2: name in college football Skataboo Kim's Kataboo Skataboo. And then
- 6:44Speaker 2: home for Houston.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Houston, by the way, beat Kansas State is best week
- 6:48Speaker 3: they did. How about the cap they did and that
- 6:51Speaker 3: damaged Kansas State and the Big twelve terms of the playoff.
- 6:56Speaker 2: All the text lines when he said, hey, I just
- 6:58Speaker 2: saw that Pony Pony Express documentary as it was called
- 7:01Speaker 2: Pony Excess. It's fun to watch Ron Myers knows actually
- 7:05Speaker 2: grow in five gs. That's that's a pretty compelling ESPN
- 7:10Speaker 2: thirty for thirty. If you haven't seen Pony Excess, and
- 7:12Speaker 2: then somebody else had come in on.
- 7:15Speaker 3: You, youth is wasted on the young gem dot ag. So
- 7:18Speaker 3: there you go.
- 7:19Speaker 2: All right, let's let's let's hear from Longhorn's head coach
- 7:24Speaker 2: Steve Sarkisian in discussing this matchup with the Florida Gators.
- 7:30Speaker 2: But first of all, he was asked, does he change
- 7:36Speaker 2: I think I already said this though, the one about
- 7:38Speaker 2: the lagway, But here's what here what Here's what I
- 7:40Speaker 2: wanted to say. How does he keep the team focused
- 7:44Speaker 2: on the singular game while not losing sight of the
- 7:48Speaker 2: overall goal which he set all loong is to reach
- 7:50Speaker 2: the SEC championship game.
- 7:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I think we always try to recognize, you know,
- 7:56Speaker 5: what the end goal is and then and then kind
- 8:01Speaker 5: of leave it there and then work my way back
- 8:03Speaker 5: to what's happening today.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Right.
- 8:05Speaker 1: We use the adage be where your feet are.
- 8:06Speaker 5: Okay, what are you doing today to put yourself in
- 8:09Speaker 5: position for that end result? What are you going to
- 8:13Speaker 5: try to do Saturday? Put to put yourself in position
- 8:15Speaker 5: for that end result. So we really just focus on
- 8:19Speaker 5: the task at hand. We really want to make sure
- 8:21Speaker 5: that we play our brand, our style of football. We
- 8:25Speaker 5: all we use the adage you know that the games
- 8:27Speaker 5: in November the ones they remember, And so you know,
- 8:30Speaker 5: how are we going to play Saturday? How are we
- 8:32Speaker 5: going to start this this November runoff? This phase three
- 8:36Speaker 5: of the season off at eleven am kick, and so
- 8:38Speaker 5: there's a lot to talk to this game. It's an
- 8:40Speaker 5: eleven am kick, is the first one we've had since
- 8:43Speaker 5: Week two. It's a home game at eleven am, and
- 8:46Speaker 5: so our schedule adjusts a little bit, So there's a
- 8:49Speaker 5: lot to talk to that way that I don't have
- 8:53Speaker 5: to talk to too much about the end result right now,
- 8:57Speaker 5: because I think we all kind of know the mission
- 8:59Speaker 5: that we're on now. The focus is really on what
- 9:02Speaker 5: do we need to do today, what do we need
- 9:04Speaker 5: to do this week to continue that journey.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Then he was asked about the challenge that Desmond Watson,
- 9:13Speaker 2: who's a nose tackle.
- 9:16Speaker 3: For the Florida Gators.
- 9:17Speaker 2: If you haven't heard about Desmond Watson, Desmond Watson is
- 9:24Speaker 2: six feet five inches tall. He weighs, according to Florida
- 9:29Speaker 2: Media Relations, four hundred and forty nine pounds four hundred
- 9:34Speaker 2: and forty nine pounds, and Sark was asked about him, say, Hey,
- 9:39Speaker 2: that four hundred and forty pound dude. You know Desmond Watson.
- 9:42Speaker 2: How do you deal with him?
- 9:45Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 9:45Speaker 5: They listening for forty nine, not even for forty and
- 9:48Speaker 5: that might be generous.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm fired. I recruited him in high
- 9:53Speaker 1: school and I.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Remember vividly going to Armwood High School with Coach Banks
- 9:58Speaker 5: and seeing him in person.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's like, Wow, that is a really big person.
- 10:03Speaker 5: But but the thing about him, he's got suddenness, he's
- 10:06Speaker 5: got quickness, and uh, He's not like a guy that
- 10:10Speaker 5: just stands there and you know, puts his arms out
- 10:13Speaker 5: in two gaps of center or something they call movements,
- 10:16Speaker 5: they call pressures with pressures with him, and so I
- 10:19Speaker 5: think that's one of the things that could that can
- 10:22Speaker 5: cause you issues. It's like trying to go to hit
- 10:26Speaker 5: somebody and you just know you're winding up and you've
- 10:28Speaker 5: got to hit this guy. You think he's a stationary
- 10:30Speaker 5: target and he's not, and then he gets on an
- 10:33Speaker 5: edge and he gets a tackle for a loss.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And so I think.
- 10:35Speaker 5: We've really got to, you know, trust our fundamentals, our
- 10:38Speaker 5: techniques in this game because he's not the only big guy. Naturally,
- 10:42Speaker 5: they only have one guy over four hundred pounds, but
- 10:45Speaker 5: they've got plenty of three thirty three forty guys on
- 10:48Speaker 5: that interior defensive line that that we're gonna have to
- 10:50Speaker 5: contend with.
- 10:51Speaker 2: But he said they only have one guy over four hundred,
- 10:55Speaker 2: over four hundred.
- 10:55Speaker 3: But got other big guys.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Is one of the guys who might have to go
- 10:59Speaker 2: up against Desmond Wise and is Cam Williams, And Sark
- 11:03Speaker 2: was asked about Cam, who has been starting throughout the
- 11:06Speaker 2: season but has had some difficulty with penalties either a
- 11:08Speaker 2: false starts or holds, or there was an unsportsman like
- 11:11Speaker 2: conduct when he got an altercation. So how about what
- 11:14Speaker 2: it's been like working with Cam Williams to try to
- 11:16Speaker 2: reduce the number of penalties and keep him effective on
- 11:19Speaker 2: the offensive front.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know, I think again, it's it's a
- 11:22Speaker 5: it's him playing with the utmost confidence. You know, he's
- 11:26Speaker 5: a first year starter, you know, who's you know, he's
- 11:29Speaker 5: going to be making his ninth career start Saturday, and
- 11:33Speaker 5: so you know a lot of times when a guy's in,
- 11:35Speaker 5: you know, year three of your program, we think, well
- 11:38Speaker 5: he's experienced. Well he's experienced on the practice field, Maybe
- 11:42Speaker 5: there wasn't as much experience on game day and some
- 11:46Speaker 5: of those things that come along with game day. And so,
- 11:49Speaker 5: you know, I think just maintaining that that mental intensity,
- 11:52Speaker 5: maintaining that focus, and maintaining that confidence uh to play
- 11:56Speaker 5: the way that he's capable of playing the game.
- 11:58Speaker 1: He's very talented young man.
- 12:00Speaker 5: He's a great teammate, and so you know, I'm looking
- 12:03Speaker 5: forward to him seeing the growth in him in the
- 12:06Speaker 5: second half of this season.
- 12:07Speaker 3: All right, coming up, we're gonna hear Sark.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah, he finally was asked about the college football playoff rankings.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I asked him about Actually MS Jean, who was there,
- 12:16Speaker 2: had the question card about his impressions that you can
- 12:19Speaker 2: hear that A long warned weekly coming up at seven
- 12:20Speaker 2: o'clock tonight, but from the media Zoom today we'll hear
- 12:23Speaker 2: sarks thoughts on the college football playoff rankings and a
- 12:27Speaker 2: couple other topics with regard to Texas and Florida this
- 12:30Speaker 2: week right here on Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone.
