- 1:30Speaker 3: mathis you can't go wrong. I think with either one
- 1:32Speaker 3: of those for different reasons. I'm excited. I'm excited to
- 1:37Speaker 3: talk about my case. I'm excited. Yours is a.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Convoluted mess, judging by miss judging by the intro.
- 1:43Speaker 3: So maybe you should go first because you might need
- 1:45Speaker 3: a little bit more time to get through all the deeps.
- 1:47Speaker 2: All right, lead off today, All right, I'll do that.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Learn off.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Shawn te shawnte Is it shawnty or shanty? Is it
- 1:57Speaker 1: shawn last s.
- 1:58Speaker 2: T It's s h A w n tee.
- 2:02Speaker 1: All one word shanty shawnty love it not a shanty,
- 2:06Speaker 1: that's a and T I shawnte love Shawnty. Mitchell is
- 2:11Speaker 1: suing Tara Porter for four hundred and thirty dollars for
- 2:16Speaker 1: a traffic ticket and emotional distress.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Not a lot of it, just just just a little bit.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Tara Porter is counter suing for three hundred dollars. I
- 2:28Speaker 2: still don't know what for.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Okay, so big money here, huge money grand total combined,
- 2:34Speaker 3: you'd get its own episode.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Under eight Hono.
- 2:38Speaker 2: That's right, shawn T is going to start us off,
- 2:41Speaker 2: I hope. So she says, I met miss Porter at
- 2:43Speaker 2: a barbecue. Now, how did they meet at a barbecue? Well,
- 2:48Speaker 2: shawn T asked Tara to come to the barbecue. Why
- 2:51Speaker 2: did that happen because Shawnt's husband was friends with a
- 2:55Speaker 2: guy named Earl. Now why is this important? Okay? There
- 2:59Speaker 2: are is in the plaintiff's chair, Tara is in the
- 3:04Speaker 2: defendants chair, and in between the two of them, there
- 3:06Speaker 2: are three men seated there. At no point, at no
- 3:11Speaker 2: point do any of these three men stand up and talk,
- 3:15Speaker 2: but all three have been brought in it with all
- 3:17Speaker 2: three are in between them. They're sitting on a bench.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Shawn T is here, Tara is where you are three
- 3:25Speaker 2: men in.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Between I've never seen that before. Usually they're like behind them.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Correct, So like points back to her husband, who's there
- 3:33Speaker 2: in a short sleeve shirt in tie classic. Yeah, so
- 3:40Speaker 2: my husband has a good friend and points over to
- 3:42Speaker 2: the guy on the far side of it. There. Earl
- 3:45Speaker 2: is his name, Earl. Earl's closer to Sara Tarah. Interesting,
- 3:51Speaker 2: So Earl has been dating Tara got it and and
- 3:54Speaker 2: Earle and he was like, let's bring Earl and his
- 3:58Speaker 2: new girlfriend to the barbecue. Shawnte and Tara hit it
- 4:05Speaker 2: off with the barbecue and then Tara says that you're
- 4:07Speaker 2: a singer, and Shawnty' is like she Sarah's like, doesn't
- 4:11Speaker 2: say singer? No, no, no no. Tara says that she's a singer,
- 4:17Speaker 2: got it? And and so Shawnte is like, why don't
- 4:20Speaker 2: you sing me something? You know how you do? Apparently
- 4:24Speaker 2: Tara has a great voice.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Not enough people do that.
- 4:26Speaker 2: They don't.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Well, first of all, you got to come in hot
- 4:29Speaker 3: with I'm a singer. I'm a singer. Okay, sing.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Receipts. I don't take anyone's word for it. That's right. No,
- 4:37Speaker 2: you say that, but you could be lying. So Tara
- 4:40Speaker 2: sings the barbecue and it goes over like king bass.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Oh does she sing in the courtroom? No, she doesn't.
- 4:47Speaker 2: This is disappointing. But Shawnty cannot stop bragging on Tara.
- 4:51Speaker 2: She's amazing, she's really good. If she would put her
- 4:53Speaker 2: time and effort into it, she could be signed.
- 4:56Speaker 1: She's amazing.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Thing.
- 5:00Speaker 2: And matthis is like, oh, you're really good, So why
- 5:02Speaker 2: have you done anything with this? And Tara's like, well,
- 5:04Speaker 2: I have an eleventh eleven month You're eleven month old
- 5:07Speaker 2: daughter eleven month year old synopsis to a Hallmark movie ribs,
- 5:17Speaker 2: I have an eleventh Is this what it's like to
- 5:23Speaker 2: be you?
- 5:24Speaker 1: Isn't it so fun?
- 5:25Speaker 2: It is? You never know what's going to come? Helpless,
- 5:29Speaker 2: I have an eleven month old daughter, but I'm working
- 5:33Speaker 2: on getting my career going. I love that, And Shawn
- 5:35Speaker 2: t says, my husband and I were so impressed and
- 5:38Speaker 2: told Earl she's a keeper just judging by her voice. Well,
- 5:43Speaker 2: what's wild is that they're like Earl is always not
- 5:47Speaker 2: trusting people, and the Earl thinks that everybody's cheating on everybody.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Earl's just not He's in the courtroom hearing all that
- 5:55Speaker 2: is just like not not great. But we're like Earl,
- 5:59Speaker 2: Tara is a keeper. You need to keep hold her.
- 6:02Speaker 2: And also I got her started. She's now got a
- 6:04Speaker 2: YouTube channel and she can really sing great. So Mathis
- 6:10Speaker 2: at this point, it's like, which she's suing Tara?
- 6:12Speaker 3: She is, okay, great so guitarard.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Uh So at this point Mathis goes which one is Earl?
- 6:22Speaker 3: And so at this point somebody stand up and say,
- 6:25Speaker 3: my name is my name is.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Earl would have been great. Shawn T just gestures to
- 6:28Speaker 2: all the men and he's like, they which one is?
- 6:33Speaker 2: Could you Earl? Could you raise your hand? Earl raises
- 6:35Speaker 2: his hand. I'm dying to find out who the guy
- 6:37Speaker 2: in in the middle is. I'm dying to find out.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I don't know his dating, I don't know his name.
- 6:43Speaker 3: I'm dying to find out how he's connected here because
- 6:45Speaker 3: he's in the middle, which means he could go.
- 6:46Speaker 2: He could be so so, shawn T continues, I went
- 6:52Speaker 2: to Tara's house for the first time and she had
- 6:54Speaker 2: sticky notes all over her house motivational goals, long term,
- 6:58Speaker 2: short term. It was really inspired. Does that do anything
- 7:01Speaker 2: for you? I see that and I think, why not
- 7:05Speaker 2: just do it? But you know what, writing down anything
- 7:08Speaker 2: has never worked for me. I was guilted my whole
- 7:11Speaker 2: life in the fact that I didn't take notes, didn't
- 7:12Speaker 2: take notes in class, didn't take notes at the sermon,
- 7:15Speaker 2: didn't take notes. And I realized, not until I was
- 7:18Speaker 2: in college, that what I don't need I just don't
- 7:21Speaker 2: do notes. That's not what I do.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Does work for people?
- 7:24Speaker 2: It does? You're are you You're You're not a note writer.
- 7:27Speaker 2: No Aeron. Are you a note writer? You're a note writer.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Aaron writes down everything.
- 7:30Speaker 3: See you put inspirational quotes in your house, in your apartment,
- 7:34Speaker 3: do you really?
- 7:35Speaker 2: But see, I'm I'm a visual learner, so writing the
- 7:38Speaker 2: notes down. But some people are like auditory.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Were auditory?
- 7:41Speaker 2: Where you? If I hear it's you want I'm very auditory.
- 7:44Speaker 2: But what's a motivational thing that you have up in
- 7:47Speaker 2: your house? Hang in there?
- 7:50Speaker 1: No, I have Amanda Gorman's The Hill Climb.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Oh, okay, fantastic. It's written out behind my TV.
- 7:58Speaker 3: So I stir at it.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know he was coming coming for it. Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 2: he's taken air of his nickname of his room, running with.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It, Hume post it notes. No, in college, I did.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Okay, do you like write anything on your bathroom mirror?
- 8:16Speaker 3: Like you're beautiful?
- 8:17Speaker 1: You got this?
- 8:18Speaker 2: Like you go?
- 8:18Speaker 1: Girl, I haven't here, okay, but you have in the past,
- 8:21Speaker 1: in the past.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Okay. But Greenville, the whole city of Greenville is one
- 8:25Speaker 2: big like happy war enough, right, Like, isn't it like
- 8:28Speaker 2: it's just a great place? Yeah for me exactly. Like
- 8:35Speaker 2: you're beautiful. That's right, you're doing it. Go girl, that's Greenville.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Everybody you go girl Greenville. So she has all these
- 8:43Speaker 2: sticky notes around. It was really inspiring. She has a
- 8:45Speaker 2: lot of charisma and I really admire that.
- 8:47Speaker 1: So still I can't wait to find out what Tara did.
- 8:50Speaker 2: So Matth's is like, so what's going on? Like it
- 8:52Speaker 2: sounds like you love her? And Shanti says, well, I
- 8:54Speaker 2: soon found out that she's a diva and it's her
- 8:57Speaker 2: way or no way, and a lot of that is
- 8:59Speaker 2: how she presents herself. And she's grimy and she played me. Okay,
- 9:03Speaker 2: that's a lot. That's a lot of us. It's like,
- 9:05Speaker 2: what what a lot of accusations. Math is like, Okay,
- 9:09Speaker 2: let me hear from you, Tara. So Tara's like, so
- 9:12Speaker 2: basically I see the good in everyone. That's how she
- 9:15Speaker 2: starts out the great. So basically I see the good
- 9:17Speaker 2: in everyone that way. She's yeah, of course you are you,
- 9:20Speaker 2: you are that way. Yeah, that's why you and I
- 9:22Speaker 2: make a good team because I'm not like that and
- 9:24Speaker 2: I need that in my life.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I see the good of everybody but myself who I am. Wait,
- 9:28Speaker 3: but your total trash and it's more than fair, no.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Trash brand. I love you. Wow. I I'll see her,
- 9:40Speaker 2: but that also doesn't do it.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Those also don't do anything for me.
- 9:44Speaker 2: So you are beautiful. I do listen to that every morning,
- 9:50Speaker 2: even though you choose Brittany or Christina like a monster.
- 9:52Speaker 3: We're going to finish this. So Terra's songs are better.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Words can't bring me down, but she Christine is a
- 9:59Speaker 3: better singer.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Y it's clear. Tara says, we did meet at a barbecue.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Everything was great. I appreciate her letting me sing. Don't
- 10:06Speaker 2: make me sing, and she had her family there. Oh,
- 10:10Speaker 2: at the barbie shawn T did, but she disappeared with
- 10:13Speaker 2: her cousin for a couple hours. Okay, I don't know
- 10:16Speaker 2: why that matters. And Matthis says, where'd y'all go to
- 10:19Speaker 2: smoke weed or something? Because that's how Mathis.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Rolls Mathis and then shawn T comes.
- 10:23Speaker 2: On strong and decides not to lie in court and goes, no,
- 10:26Speaker 2: your honor, I do not nothing. She goes, no your honor,
- 10:33Speaker 2: I do not? Does Mathis call her aunt on? Mathis
- 10:38Speaker 2: was like, y'all, we're going to smoke. He did a
- 10:39Speaker 2: full bit. Y'all, we're going smoking weed. You know that's
- 10:41Speaker 2: what happens. You go smoke weed because your family don't
- 10:43Speaker 2: want you to see it. Blah blah blah.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Back to Tarror, so thanks cool mephis. Tara was like,
- 10:49Speaker 3: ear matthis isn't helping.
- 10:51Speaker 2: No, always matthis is there to learn how to be
- 10:54Speaker 2: socially appropriate in twenty twenty three, and it's taking him
- 10:58Speaker 2: a long time. Uh, Tara says, So Earle told me
- 11:02Speaker 2: that that Shawnty is real deceptive, she's a liar. He's
- 11:06Speaker 2: known her for fifteen years. She cheats on her husband. Oh,
- 11:10Speaker 2: Mathis goes, she cheats on her husband, and she goes yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Tarah said, yeah, Earl didn't tell me that I witnessed it.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Oh oh And uh, Shawnt's husband's over there going not true,
- 11:20Speaker 2: Like you don't hear him. He says it though he's
- 11:22Speaker 2: his mouths, there's no mic on him. Not to not true.
- 11:26Speaker 2: And uh, Matthews is like, I don't believe you. I
- 11:29Speaker 2: don't believe you that she cheats on her husband. Wow.
- 11:31Speaker 2: And Tara's like I was there, and Matthews, so you
- 11:35Speaker 2: just stood there and watched her cheat on her husband
- 11:39Speaker 2: and you just take them to speak up. Took some
- 11:42Speaker 2: notes and and Shawnt's just like that's a lie. That's
- 11:45Speaker 2: a lie, that's a lot her name, And and then
- 11:48Speaker 2: Matthews is like, I'm not doing this. We're not here
- 11:49Speaker 2: for this. You're suing her about a traffic ticket. You're
- 11:53Speaker 2: counter sewing her. I'm not letting you mess with that family.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I'm not letting you do it. We're not talking about
- 11:57Speaker 2: that relationship. Talk about your relationship with the plane.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Don't talk at all, you think afterwards they were like, hey, honey,
- 12:04Speaker 5: you know how she You know how she said that
- 12:08Speaker 5: you treated did you?
- 12:12Speaker 2: I really stood up for you in there, I said I.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I couldn't hear me real quick though. I couldn't hear
- 12:17Speaker 2: me very planned in my flag and she would never
- 12:19Speaker 2: But however, however, would you ever could? So He's like, Sean,
- 12:26Speaker 2: back to the plane, iff, why are you? Why are
- 12:27Speaker 2: you sooner? So sewn t says, so I took her
- 12:30Speaker 2: to an event to sink. She found an event. She
- 12:36Speaker 2: apparently Tara found an event, couldn't drive herself. Earl called
- 12:40Speaker 2: up and said, can you take her to sing? Where
- 12:44Speaker 2: was Earl? Earl couldn't take her either. I will give
- 12:47Speaker 2: you forty dollars in gas money. This is true. This
- 12:54Speaker 2: is true. I will give you forty dollars in gas
- 12:57Speaker 2: money if you will take Tara to the gig. The
- 12:59Speaker 2: gig is in Jackson. Don't ask what state. They didn't
- 13:02Speaker 2: tell me. They didn't give me that information. It is
- 13:05Speaker 2: a long way away. It's hours away. So Shawnt's like,
- 13:10Speaker 2: I pick up Tara and I she couldn't find any
- 13:14Speaker 2: like local, So they get so Jackson. So yeah, it's
- 13:18Speaker 2: a gig out of town. So Shaunty's like, I'm taking her,
- 13:21Speaker 2: but I'm not staying. I'm doing I've got to go back.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I'm dropping her off early in the afternoon. It's a
- 13:26Speaker 2: late night gig, and then I'm coming back to pick
- 13:28Speaker 2: her up. Earl has paid me to do that. That's
- 13:30Speaker 2: all I know. And I know it's at least a
- 13:31Speaker 2: three hour drive. I don't know why she's not staying.
- 13:33Speaker 1: This is a twelve hour journey.
- 13:35Speaker 3: It's all the way around, yes, it's And then I
- 13:38Speaker 3: got to pick you up and come back.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So she gets in the car and she's like, Tara's
- 13:44Speaker 2: in the car, and I start talking about like how
- 13:45Speaker 2: I had to learn how to drive a stick shift
- 13:47Speaker 2: because my car is a stick shift, and Tara's like, oh,
- 13:49Speaker 2: I know how to drive a stick shift and Shawnte
- 13:52Speaker 2: was like, great, well, since it's your gig, you can drive,
- 13:55Speaker 2: drive the car.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Drive the car.
- 13:57Speaker 2: But Tara was like, no, I don't feel comfortable drive
- 14:00Speaker 2: your car. And she's like, all right, well I'll ride,
- 14:01Speaker 2: but you drive. So Shawnty then lets Tara use her
- 14:05Speaker 2: car but rides with her. This is I couldn't think
- 14:07Speaker 2: anything worse. Yeah, I still have to do the journey.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I might as well drive. But what so Yeah, oh,
- 14:12Speaker 2: I'm look, you know where I let her, Let got
- 14:15Speaker 2: her to the event. Came back then, when I knew
- 14:18Speaker 2: it was going to be really late, I brought a
- 14:20Speaker 2: friend with me to make sure I stayed awake driving
- 14:23Speaker 2: out there to pick her up, knowing full well that
- 14:26Speaker 2: Tara was going to drive the car back, so I
- 14:28Speaker 2: brought a friend with me. She points to the middleman.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Don't know it, don't know his name, don't get his name.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I'm starting to think too the truth, Tara.
- 14:40Speaker 2: I think it is her cousin. I think she does great.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Shawnty's husband looks over her. So I pick her up.
- 14:48Speaker 2: It's almost one in the morning. Wow, I let her drive.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I'm in the passenger seat. My cousin's in the back seat,
- 14:56Speaker 2: and she gets pulled over doing an eighty eighty five
- 14:59Speaker 2: and a seventy. And immediately as she starts pulling over,
- 15:01Speaker 2: she starts screaming, I got warrants, I got warrants. I
- 15:04Speaker 2: can't go to jail. Tara's like, that's a lie. That's
- 15:07Speaker 2: a lie. That's a lie, and and and Mathis is like,
- 15:12Speaker 2: let her finish. So shawn t says, as soon as
- 15:15Speaker 2: she got the car to a stop, she put it
- 15:17Speaker 2: in park, she leaned the seat back, slid into the
- 15:20Speaker 2: back seat right onto my cousin's genitals. Now now, now
- 15:26Speaker 2: at this point, Tara is like, that is a lie.
- 15:30Speaker 2: He was sitting on the other side. I did not
- 15:32Speaker 2: slide onto his genitals. I slid into the back seat.
- 15:36Speaker 2: And Shawnte is like, that's not what my cousin said.
- 15:38Speaker 2: He said, you're all up on my genitals. Are we
- 15:40Speaker 2: dating now? And then? And as you as you do,
- 15:44Speaker 2: matthis is like, doesn't care. But Tara's I want to
- 15:47Speaker 2: be clear. I did slide back, but not onto that
- 15:49Speaker 2: man's genitals. That is the term they use in court.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I did not clean that up. That is what they say.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Genitals is the term of choice yes, and Mathis is like,
- 15:59Speaker 2: sounds like you're both grim mem She asked me she
- 16:06Speaker 2: begged me to slide into the driver's seat and that
- 16:09Speaker 2: she would pay for the ticket if I just acted
- 16:11Speaker 2: like the driver. So matthis is like, this is true,
- 16:16Speaker 2: and Tara says, well, what tripped me out is she
- 16:20Speaker 2: told me I was driving. I didn't want to drive.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I just said I don't know how to drive a
- 16:24Speaker 2: stick ship. A long time ago, she stopped at a
- 16:26Speaker 2: red light, got out of the driver's seat and made
- 16:28Speaker 2: me drive the car. She forced me to drive the
- 16:30Speaker 2: car at a red light. Mathis is like, how did
- 16:33Speaker 2: she make you? And Tara's like, I felt pressured into
- 16:36Speaker 2: do it? And she He said does she have a gun?
- 16:40Speaker 2: And Tara said no? And he says, you can't say
- 16:43Speaker 2: you were forced unless you have an idea of what
- 16:46Speaker 2: the force was a gun? Did she have naked photos
- 16:50Speaker 2: of you? Did she like? He says that Matthews's imagination
- 16:54Speaker 2: is running wild here. Something that would lead you to
- 16:58Speaker 2: believe that you had to do this or else.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Only one of two possibilities there. Either she had a
- 17:03Speaker 1: gun or she had naked pictures.
- 17:05Speaker 2: That's the only two options. So Tara's like, I was
- 17:07Speaker 2: trying to get home to my daughter. She was late
- 17:09Speaker 2: picking me up. I was pulled over. Maths is like, hey,
- 17:15Speaker 2: move on to the end of this. She's like, yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 2: I slid. He's like, did you did you tell her
- 17:20Speaker 2: to pay the ticket? Yes? I did tell her to
- 17:22Speaker 2: pay the ticket. And then Matthews is like, I've heard enough.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I'm ready to rule. We don't get to hear what
- 17:27Speaker 2: her countersuit is, nor do we get to hear about
- 17:29Speaker 2: the emotional distress that was cost. So it's four point thirty.
- 17:33Speaker 2: She is suing. Shawn t is suing for a ticket
- 17:36Speaker 2: in emotional distress. Tara counter suing for three hundred bones.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Well, I think Shawnte is gonna get all the money.
- 17:42Speaker 3: I don't think the counter seat will get Anybody seeing
- 17:45Speaker 3: is tell we don't know what it is.
- 17:47Speaker 1: She slid. Listen to his genitals. That's tough. That's tough.
- 17:53Speaker 3: This is a weird case. I do want to know,
- 17:58Speaker 3: Like does she have warrants? Yeah, like these are all things.
- 18:01Speaker 3: We don't really get to the bottom of the cousin's name.
- 18:04Speaker 3: He says, I don't have warrens. I feel it's pretty
- 18:08Speaker 3: easy to find out, and we just don't. So I
- 18:11Speaker 3: do have a lot of questions, but I do think
- 18:13Speaker 3: she's gonna get the money, at least, at the very
- 18:14Speaker 3: least the amount of the ticket, because she said she
- 18:16Speaker 3: would pay it. I don't know, Jack squat about the
- 18:19Speaker 3: emotional distress. It might as well give it to her.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Over Here, matthis agrees with you. He's just had enough
- 18:23Speaker 2: of Tara. She becomes a lot and he doesn't believe
- 18:25Speaker 2: a word she says. He gives it all, dismisses the counterclaim,
- 18:30Speaker 2: bangs the gavel, walks off. People clap and then Tara
- 18:32Speaker 2: immediately Tara, who's in a very smart pant suit, like
- 18:36Speaker 2: a very like professional look, har is done, speaks quietly
- 18:41Speaker 2: the whole time. As soon as he renders the verdict,
- 18:43Speaker 2: she goes on on a litany of f us.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Just yelling to anybody, anybody there, you have it all
- 18:52Speaker 3: in all done, wonderful. Are you ready?
- 18:54Speaker 2: I'm ready?
- 18:55Speaker 3: We're going to uh to Judge Steve Harvey, man, I
- 18:58Speaker 3: love time a fella so fly. He doesn't wear a
- 19:02Speaker 3: robe his word, he says it in his intro.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Wait, did he wears a suit? He wears a suit
- 19:10Speaker 2: always wears a suit.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Michelle Ravitch is suing Michael Cologne Colin, you go along, callin,
- 19:22Speaker 3: you watched the case. Michelle Ravish is suing Michael. Let's
- 19:26Speaker 3: see Michael c Michael for four hundred and fifty dollars
- 19:31Speaker 3: for unpaid van rental. Michael is countersuing for five thousand
- 19:36Speaker 3: dollars for emotional distress.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And dry cleaning. Um, as you know.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Steve Harvey gives you thirty seconds to stay your case
- 19:47Speaker 3: and then from there we will state it in more detail.
- 19:52Speaker 1: But here it is Michelle, and we'll get to it.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Then we'll get to it.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Michelle says she is suing her disowned cousin for a
- 20:01Speaker 3: rental van that he that he took.
- 20:04Speaker 2: He never saw, she never saw any money. Uh.
- 20:07Speaker 3: The van was taken over the weekend, which is peak hours.
- 20:10Speaker 3: She missed out on business and she thinks any emotional
- 20:13Speaker 3: anguish is a joke and she would like to see
- 20:16Speaker 3: a doctor's not. Michael says, I don't owe her anything.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I borrowed the van. I was locked in the back
- 20:24Speaker 3: of the van for hours. This is an emotional moment. Okay,
- 20:28Speaker 3: now it's time to dive in. Steve says, your cousins, right,
- 20:32Speaker 3: your cousins. Michelle says, no, he's disowned, and he says,
- 20:37Speaker 3: you're okay, And Michael says, no, I'm with her. We've
- 20:41Speaker 3: disowned each other, so there's no.
- 20:46Speaker 2: I own.
- 20:49Speaker 3: You're no longer my cousin. Michelle says they were very close.
- 20:53Speaker 3: They grew up together, they were very close cousins. They
- 20:58Speaker 3: ended up being roommate once they got old enough to
- 21:02Speaker 3: do so. And he's actually the one who inspired her
- 21:05Speaker 3: to open her luxury car rental establishments. And so she
- 21:11Speaker 3: says he rented a van from her because he needed
- 21:16Speaker 3: one and as a way to support her business. He says,
- 21:22Speaker 3: rents implies business.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I borrowed the van for work.
- 21:29Speaker 3: I'm an artist and I had to hold on and
- 21:33Speaker 3: I had to pick up a painting that was mine
- 21:37Speaker 3: and I needed a van, so I borrowed it. Borrowed
- 21:41Speaker 3: it is what I'm trying.
- 21:42Speaker 2: To borrow it.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Michelle says, absolutely not. There's a rental agreement. Okay, we
- 21:49Speaker 3: see the agreement. Steve Harvey reads the agreement. Steve stops
- 21:55Speaker 3: to show that he knows how to read. He brags
- 21:59Speaker 3: about his reading skills. He asks for the crowd to
- 22:01Speaker 3: applaud his reading skills, and he says, if you liked
- 22:05Speaker 3: my reading skills, keep watching the show. I will be
- 22:08Speaker 3: reading more. So shout out to Steve Harvey, who knows
- 22:13Speaker 3: how to read. Uh, no one, no one should ever
- 22:16Speaker 3: doubt you in that regard. He says, I don't see
- 22:19Speaker 3: any signatures on this rental agreement. She says, it's on
- 22:22Speaker 3: page two. You'll see it. They are digital signatures.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Wow. He says, I didn't do that. She says.
- 22:29Speaker 3: She says, so you're claiming that I plagiarized your name.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Steve says, I think you mean forgery. I've been I've
- 22:37Speaker 3: been to court for that. I've also been in trouble
- 22:39Speaker 3: for plagiarism. We got to get the terms right. So
- 22:43Speaker 3: shout out to Steve. So Steve asked Michael about this agreement.
- 22:49Speaker 3: He says, uh, Michael, this agreement and he says it's
- 22:52Speaker 3: not an agreement.
- 22:53Speaker 1: It's just words on paper. Steve says, that's an agreement.
- 22:56Speaker 2: That Michael Mike.
- 23:02Speaker 3: So he says, I borrowed the van. Steve says, you
- 23:05Speaker 3: rented the van. He said, no, I borrowed the van.
- 23:08Speaker 3: He says, it says rental agreement on the top of
- 23:13Speaker 3: the page. It literally says, in big bold letters, rental agreement.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Come on.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Michael explains he was driving the van that he borrowed
- 23:21Speaker 3: and UH to get a painting that he needed, and
- 23:24Speaker 3: he attached the painting to these support beams in the back,
- 23:29Speaker 3: you know how those cargo vans, and so this he's
- 23:33Speaker 3: driving along the road. He's got his his paintings trapped
- 23:37Speaker 3: in on the back and he starts hearing some rattling
- 23:39Speaker 3: going on in the back, and he starts to get
- 23:42Speaker 3: worried that the support beams weren't installed correctly. So he's
- 23:46Speaker 3: going to go to the back of the truck to
- 23:49Speaker 3: check on the support beam.
- 23:50Speaker 2: So he pulls off on the side of the road.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Gets back into the truck, climbs and is checking it.
- 23:56Speaker 3: It's a windy day. The doors blow close. He is
- 23:59Speaker 3: now stuck in the back of the cargo van. He
- 24:03Speaker 3: cannot unlock it, and it is one of those vans
- 24:05Speaker 3: that UH there is no way into the cab to
- 24:09Speaker 3: to it's just completely sealed off.
- 24:12Speaker 2: No windows, there's.
- 24:14Speaker 3: No handle on the inside, so it's it's locked from
- 24:18Speaker 3: the inside, no windows, no way to get in contact
- 24:21Speaker 3: with anybody.
- 24:22Speaker 2: His phone's in the front seat, so man.
- 24:27Speaker 3: So he's yelling for help. He's like help, Hell yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 3: he's having a great time. He's laughing, he's he thinks
- 24:33Speaker 3: it's hilarious. So he's like, I'm yelling. I'm yelling, but
- 24:36Speaker 3: I'm on the side of the road. Cars are going by,
- 24:39Speaker 3: no one can hear me. There's like a hole in
- 24:41Speaker 3: the top that I can stick like two fingers through.
- 24:45Speaker 3: So I'm like kind of going like this like a
- 24:47Speaker 3: distress signals like you should have just used one finger.
- 24:52Speaker 2: People might have stopped for that.
- 24:54Speaker 3: It's a middle finger joke for those of you listening
- 24:56Speaker 3: along at home. And so my Michael says, sure, okay.
- 25:02Speaker 3: He says, I'm hot, I'm getting stressed. I'm sweating like crazy.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Ruined my shirt, which we'll get to later about the shirt.
- 25:11Speaker 3: And I'm in the back of this van for three hours.
- 25:15Speaker 3: No this Michelle's fault, no windows, no air, and I
- 25:21Speaker 3: was wearing silk, and silk is a sensitive fabric, as.
- 25:25Speaker 2: We all know. We all have silk.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Shirts, were his words, as we all know. So he
- 25:29Speaker 3: says a jogger came by, heard him and freed him.
- 25:33Speaker 3: He says, I brought a picture of the back of
- 25:35Speaker 3: this van. We see the picture in the back of
- 25:38Speaker 3: the van, there are no support beams. He says that
- 25:43Speaker 3: they weren't in at the time that I took the picture.
- 25:49Speaker 3: She says, they were never any support beams in the back.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Of this van, So how did he hang it on something?
- 25:56Speaker 2: So you know.
- 25:59Speaker 1: What he he is describing our beams that are installed.
- 26:02Speaker 2: They're like, you know, like this in the.
- 26:05Speaker 3: In the van that we see, there are like slots
- 26:10Speaker 3: where you where you where you could do that, or
- 26:12Speaker 3: you could just do like a bungee cord, you know
- 26:14Speaker 3: what I mean, Like, you know, you know what I'm
- 26:15Speaker 3: talking about here. So that's all that this fan has
- 26:18Speaker 3: in the picture. He claims that there was a support
- 26:21Speaker 3: beam installed, but it's not in the picture. She says,
- 26:25Speaker 3: there's no supporting evidence for the support guys. Steve loves
- 26:30Speaker 3: that line, as you can come on. Steve loves a
- 26:32Speaker 3: good play on words, and she picks up on that
- 26:35Speaker 3: and does some more.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Later on.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Michelle says, hey, Michael, hey, mikey boy, tell him how
- 26:42Speaker 3: many times you got stuck in the back.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Of the van.
- 26:45Speaker 1: It's more than once, he says twice.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Steve is like, what you got stuck in the back
- 26:50Speaker 3: of the van again, He says, yeah. When I get home,
- 26:55Speaker 3: I get in the back of the van to take
- 26:56Speaker 3: the painting out in the same thing, having the kid.
- 27:00Speaker 3: I'm stuck in the van for another hour. Steve's laughing hysterically.
- 27:04Speaker 3: At this point, Michael brings a witness statement from his neighbor,
- 27:08Speaker 3: who's the guy who freed him an hour into being
- 27:10Speaker 3: stuck in the van for the second time in the
- 27:12Speaker 3: same day. The witness statement reads this, and I will
- 27:15Speaker 3: read this because I do think it's a deuce. I
- 27:19Speaker 3: was walking to my car parked on the street when
- 27:21Speaker 3: I heard, hey, I'm stuck in here being yelled.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I looked around, saw on the driveway.
- 27:29Speaker 3: And a hand barely sticking out of the back of
- 27:33Speaker 3: a white cargo van. I walked over. I tried to
- 27:36Speaker 3: open the back hatch a few times. Eventually Mike topped out,
- 27:39Speaker 3: really sweaty, breathing hard, kind of dasted. He didn't say much,
- 27:44Speaker 3: just mumbled and carried his painting inside.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Steve says, you didn't even thank him.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Wow, He says, I thanked him.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Eventually. I'm in a hate so I've been in the
- 27:53Speaker 3: back of the truck for five hours aconds time. Yeah, so,
- 27:58Speaker 3: Michelle says.
- 28:00Speaker 1: The next day, I don't even really know what's happened.
- 28:03Speaker 3: But the next day this group text start the group
- 28:05Speaker 3: family text, family group text.
- 28:07Speaker 2: You have every famous yes text is.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Blowing up and everybody's mad at her for giving Michael
- 28:13Speaker 3: a panic attack.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Steve says, this is this is a cargo van.
- 28:20Speaker 2: You're not cargo.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Michael says, I didn't intend on becoming cargo, but I
- 28:23Speaker 3: became cargo. I was in the back of the van.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Michelle used me as cargo. I don't really know what
- 28:29Speaker 3: it meant by that. Michelle says, well, I say we
- 28:32Speaker 3: ship him out of here.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Can they both lose all the things? Steve loves it.
- 28:38Speaker 2: So the counter suits.
- 28:41Speaker 3: The amount that she's suing for is the amount of
- 28:44Speaker 3: what the rental would be for three days.
- 28:46Speaker 2: What he has. Yeah, he didn't pay it.
- 28:48Speaker 1: He didn't pay it because he says he was borrowing it.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 28:51Speaker 3: The countersuit is for five thousand dollars. Michael explains that
- 28:55Speaker 3: four and ninety five dollars and forty one cents of
- 28:59Speaker 3: that is for emotional stress.
- 29:01Speaker 1: What one hundred dollars for the silk shirt.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Yeah, four dollars and fifty nine cents is for dry
- 29:09Speaker 3: cleaning to prove that he tried to fix the shirt,
- 29:13Speaker 3: and the rest is just for the time that he lost.
- 29:16Speaker 1: That's like in the back of the fan. His time
- 29:20Speaker 1: is not worth that much money, and Steve's ready to
- 29:22Speaker 1: ready rule.
- 29:22Speaker 2: I think this case got to Steve Harvey because he
- 29:24Speaker 2: locked himself in a van twice. I can't think of
- 29:27Speaker 2: another good reason as to why this case you get.
- 29:30Speaker 3: You get a classic fool me once, but shame on
- 29:33Speaker 3: you classic.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I'm stuck in the back of my fan again.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Somebody at me. I do know that Steve plays by
- 29:41Speaker 2: his own rules. I don't think that Michaels mikey c
- 29:45Speaker 2: is going to get anything. I do think she's going
- 29:48Speaker 2: to get the entire rental fee. But leave it to
- 29:50Speaker 2: Steve to kind of curve ball it up. What's he got?
- 29:55Speaker 3: Well, as you now, as you so perfectly said, Steve
- 29:58Speaker 3: does play by his own rules. His verdict is this,
- 30:01Speaker 3: you rented the van, an accident happened. It's not your fault,
- 30:04Speaker 3: but it's not her fault either. He says this, and
- 30:08Speaker 3: this is his quote. Nobody gives a damn about your shirt.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Wow, except for me, I love clothes.
- 30:16Speaker 3: I'm gonna give you one hundred dollars for the shirt
- 30:19Speaker 3: and the four fifty nine for the cleaning bough.
- 30:22Speaker 1: But your emotional distress is nonsense. I'm dismissing that.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Michelle, you get your four to fifty which is now
- 30:27Speaker 3: down to three.
- 30:31Speaker 2: So that's what she gets. That is unbelievable. Judge Steve Harvey,
- 30:36Speaker 2: he is doing it. There's no one like him. She
- 30:39Speaker 2: had to pay for his silk shirt for being a dummy.
- 30:42Speaker 1: He loves clothes. Steve Harvey loves close.
- 30:45Speaker 3: There you go, any clothes related case, bring it to
- 30:50Speaker 3: Steve Harvey.
- 30:51Speaker 1: It might work out your favor for sure. A silk
- 30:53Speaker 1: shirt we did.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Everybody.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Congratulations. Don't get stuck in the van this weekend until
- 30:56Speaker 3: next time. Maybe the first to issue in all right yo.
