- 0:00Speaker 1: Mr. New York, Mark Simone, 710WOR. Well, it's hour number two.
- 0:08Speaker 1: That's right. If you still don't know, we now start
- 0:10Speaker 1: at nine o'clock. This show's now three hours, nine to noon,
- 0:14Speaker 1: every day on 710WOR. If you're a Democrat, cover your
- 0:19Speaker 1: ears for a minute. Price of oil dropping again. It's
- 0:22Speaker 1: down to $ 89 a barrel. Eighty-nine. It's coming down. And
- 0:27Speaker 1: we'll keep coming down because apparently we're getting more oil
- 0:29Speaker 1: than we even thought coming through the Strait of Hormuz.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We're up to about average about 10 million barrels a day.
- 0:36Speaker 1: One day we hit 17 million barrels. That's a lot
- 0:39Speaker 1: of oil coming through every day. So the pied-a-terre tax,
- 0:45Speaker 1: this ridiculous Mamdani tax, this pied-a-terre tax. So a bunch
- 0:50Speaker 1: of people got Randy Mastro, Randy Mastro, a former deputy
- 0:54Speaker 1: mayor and a great lawyer. And he put together this
- 0:57Speaker 1: big lawsuit against Mamdani and the city to block the
- 1:01Speaker 1: pied-a-terre tax. And they filed in Staten Island, which is
- 1:05Speaker 1: smart because that's the Manhattan. You've got a crazy left-wing
- 1:10Speaker 1: kook of a judge who loves Mamdani. And the judge
- 1:14Speaker 1: ruled they were right, that the rollout had been done improperly,
- 1:17Speaker 1: that they can't send out 17,000 letters when there's not
- 1:21Speaker 1: that many pied-a-terre taxes. They can't just send a letter
- 1:24Speaker 1: demanding that people prove that they're innocent on this. You know,
- 1:29Speaker 1: in America, you're guilty until proven innocent. It's up to
- 1:31Speaker 1: the city to prove they owe it, not up to
- 1:33Speaker 1: the homeowner to prove they don't. So on that basis,
- 1:37Speaker 1: Mastro won, but all the judge ruled is that the
- 1:41Speaker 1: rollout was done incorrectly, that you'll have to roll out
- 1:45Speaker 1: this thing differently. But the idea is you got to
- 1:48Speaker 1: stop this tax. Well, Wilbur Ross... Good old Wilbur Ross,
- 1:53Speaker 1: former Commerce Secretary. Wilbur Ross has filed a lawsuit. And
- 2:00Speaker 1: Steve Wynn, you know Steve Wynn, Las Vegas, the casinos,
- 2:05Speaker 1: all that stuff. These two billionaires. So now they've jumped
- 2:08Speaker 1: into this fight. But the Wilbur Ross lawsuit is brilliant.
- 2:14Speaker 1: They're filing this lawsuit. And they're filing in Southampton. They
- 2:17Speaker 1: both live there. And they both have, well they don't
- 2:19Speaker 1: live there, they live in Florida. But they both have
- 2:22Speaker 1: pied-a-terre is there, Southampton. Now, this lawsuit is the one
- 2:26Speaker 1: that could overturn and completely destroy the pied-a-terre tax. A
- 2:32Speaker 1: pied-a-terre tax means you live in another state, you live
- 2:35Speaker 1: somewhere else, and this is just a part-time home you
- 2:39Speaker 1: keep in New York. I don't know why they don't
- 2:42Speaker 1: say that. They have to call it a pied-a-terre. But
- 2:47Speaker 1: Wilbur Ross, this is brilliant. He's suing based on violation
- 2:52Speaker 1: of the Constitution. First rule of America is no taxation
- 2:58Speaker 1: without representation. That's what the Revolutionary War was about. No
- 3:03Speaker 1: taxation without representation. Well, I don't know why we didn't
- 3:07Speaker 1: think of this before, but that's exactly what's happening in
- 3:11Speaker 1: this case. You're being taxed without representation. You live in Florida.
- 3:16Speaker 1: You can't vote in New York. You have no say
- 3:19Speaker 1: in New York. You can't vote. You can't vote for
- 3:21Speaker 1: any of these laws or any of these politicians. But
- 3:24Speaker 1: you're getting taxed. So you have no representation, but you're
- 3:27Speaker 1: getting taxed. Now, just on that, he's probably going to win.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So it's a great argument. You may have a hard
- 3:37Speaker 1: time with some left-wing judges in New York, but this
- 3:41Speaker 1: will end up going to the Supreme Court, and they're
- 3:42Speaker 1: going to pretty much have to rule that it is
- 3:45Speaker 1: taxation without representation. You can't do it. Now, the other
- 3:49Speaker 1: part of the lawsuit is that it violates the Commerce Clause.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And remember, this is the former Commerce Secretary suing. It
- 3:59Speaker 1: violates the Commerce Clause because states can't tax people who
- 4:02Speaker 1: live in other states. It's a very good point. How
- 4:08Speaker 1: could you tax somebody that lives in another state? If
- 4:11Speaker 1: that were allowed, a lot of states, California is in
- 4:15Speaker 1: desperate trouble financially. They could just tax everybody in Nevada
- 4:19Speaker 1: to collect money. You can't do it. You're saying, yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 1: but they own property. It doesn't matter. Some people come
- 4:25Speaker 1: into this state all the time. Sometimes they drive in
- 4:28Speaker 1: from New Jersey and go to stores and restaurants and
- 4:31Speaker 1: spend a lot of money, and they buy a lot
- 4:32Speaker 1: of stuff here. You can put a sales tax on it,
- 4:36Speaker 1: but that's it. And, you know, if they buy... an apartment,
- 4:42Speaker 1: you can put a sales tax on it, you can
- 4:43Speaker 1: put a property tax on it, but you can't just
- 4:46Speaker 1: tax them personally with a pied-a-terre tax. I don't see
- 4:50Speaker 1: how Wilbur Ross could lose this lawsuit. He might lose
- 4:53Speaker 1: it with a left-wing judge in New York, but it
- 4:55Speaker 1: will get appealed, it will end up in the Supreme Court,
- 4:58Speaker 1: and it sounds like an absolute no-brainer. So I think
- 5:01Speaker 1: he ends up winning this. Now, that's pretty interesting. Hey,
- 5:09Speaker 1: you were talking before about Bruce Blakeman Hochul has seen
- 5:12Speaker 1: the real polls, not the public polls, but the real
- 5:15Speaker 1: polls show them tied. And Hochul is in panic. She
- 5:19Speaker 1: is running millions and millions and millions, and she's spending
- 5:22Speaker 1: a ton of money on attack ads. But as I
- 5:27Speaker 1: pointed out last time, they can't find anything to attack
- 5:29Speaker 1: the guy on. They've done the opposition research over and over.
- 5:33Speaker 1: They can't find anything bad about Blakeman, so they're just
- 5:36Speaker 1: attacking him for being friends with Trump. But a lot
- 5:40Speaker 1: of political consultants are pointing out, they've noticed with her
- 5:42Speaker 1: millions and millions and millions in ad buys, there's no
- 5:47Speaker 1: positive ads. There's no ads where she runs on her record.
- 5:51Speaker 1: That's a pretty interesting point. She cannot run on her record.
- 5:55Speaker 1: She's got nothing to point to. That's going to be
- 5:57Speaker 1: a problem. Their debate is coming up. I think it's
- 6:00Speaker 1: next week. She's turned down all the major debates, Channel 2, 4, 7, 5.
- 6:06Speaker 1: She will not do any of these debates. She's refused
- 6:08Speaker 1: to debate. She's agreed to one debate on little New
- 6:12Speaker 1: York One, which has 12 viewers. So she's agreed because
- 6:16Speaker 1: very few people see New York One. And the other
- 6:17Speaker 1: reason she's agreed, it's a very biased, very left-wing place.
- 6:23Speaker 1: A very biased left-wing guy, Errol Lewis, will be the
- 6:27Speaker 1: moderator of the debate. So all of this favors Hochul.
- 6:29Speaker 1: That's why she's agreed to that one debate. One debate.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Pretty sad. But, hey, the city council, big hearings coming up.
- 6:40Speaker 1: on AI. Now there's a congressional hearings. There's the AI panel.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Everybody's looking into AI. The city council wants in on
- 6:48Speaker 1: this act. They know it's a hot political issue. They
- 6:52Speaker 1: are not going to do anything about it. They don't
- 6:54Speaker 1: have the power to do anything about it. They don't
- 6:56Speaker 1: know anything about it, but it looks good for them
- 6:59Speaker 1: to be having AI hearings. So they will pretend to
- 7:01Speaker 1: be doing something about AI. You see these people on
- 7:05Speaker 1: the city council, none of them can figure out anything
- 7:08Speaker 1: about AI. They don't know. And you're not going to
- 7:10Speaker 1: get anybody of any importance to come testify, but they'll
- 7:14Speaker 1: pretend that they're doing something about AI. You know, they
- 7:17Speaker 1: like to make fun of President Trump. Look at him.
- 7:19Speaker 1: He fell asleep. He's falling asleep. First of all, the
- 7:22Speaker 1: guy works like 19 hours a day, like most billionaires,
- 7:27Speaker 1: never sleeps at night. He's working all night. And I've
- 7:30Speaker 1: seen it in a lot of billionaires. You're having dinner
- 7:32Speaker 1: and they'll doze off for two minutes. They'll close their eyes.
- 7:35Speaker 1: They all do that. It's just because they don't sleep
- 7:37Speaker 1: at night. They work around the clock. But President Trump,
- 7:42Speaker 1: working harder than any president ever worked, traveling more than
- 7:45Speaker 1: any other president. You know, every day for the last
- 7:47Speaker 1: few days, middle of the day, he flies to some state,
- 7:49Speaker 1: does a big, massive rally, and flies home. Today, it's Nebraska.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Every day, he's going to a different state. But you
- 7:57Speaker 1: know what's amazing is President Xi of China, who's only 73...
- 8:02Speaker 1: He came in for the big summit with President Trump. Apparently,
- 8:06Speaker 1: President Xi's got a real problem. He really has to rest.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And it's come out now that for the visit, you know,
- 8:13Speaker 1: they schedule a whole series of events. This is a
- 8:15Speaker 1: big two days, these two leaders together. It's a big summit.
- 8:20Speaker 1: So all day long, they schedule all these things they're
- 8:22Speaker 1: going to do. They're going to have a meeting with this.
- 8:24Speaker 1: They're going to go to this luncheon. They're going to
- 8:26Speaker 1: have another meeting. They're going to go to this. Apparently,
- 8:29Speaker 1: Xi's people told the White House that he has to
- 8:32Speaker 1: have breaks during the day. He not only has to
- 8:35Speaker 1: have breaks for an hour, two hours. At one point,
- 8:37Speaker 1: he needed a five-hour break, but they also have to
- 8:40Speaker 1: set up a private room somewhere for this break where
- 8:44Speaker 1: he can go into this private room and be alone,
- 8:47Speaker 1: just him and his wife, and rest. Why would you
- 8:53Speaker 1: need a private room, a special private room for you
- 8:56Speaker 1: and your wife? Have you seen her? I don't think
- 8:59Speaker 1: they're fooling around or anything. I think this is This
- 9:01Speaker 1: is a nap. I don't think anything's going on with
- 9:04Speaker 1: these two. But apparently he needs to take lots of naps.
- 9:08Speaker 1: And can you imagine if he had a meeting with Biden? Boy,
- 9:13Speaker 1: the whole day would be snoring. It'd be all naps
- 9:16Speaker 1: with like a five-minute period to work, but that'd be
- 9:19Speaker 1: about it. Justice Alito, Samuel Alito, probably the most conservative justice,
- 9:25Speaker 1: confirms he is considering retirement. He's only 76. That's very
- 9:32Speaker 1: young for a Supreme Court justice. He's talking about next year,
- 9:35Speaker 1: but he said he is thinking about retirement. Now, that
- 9:39Speaker 1: would mean President Trump gets a fourth Supreme Court pick.
- 9:45Speaker 1: A fourth pick. Now, things will be different because the
- 9:50Speaker 1: Democrats will go absolutely nuts. They don't like anybody he's picked,
- 9:54Speaker 1: although many of his picks have turned out to be
- 9:56Speaker 1: a lot less conservative than anybody thought. And that's often
- 9:59Speaker 1: the case with these Supreme Court justices. But he'll get
- 10:04Speaker 1: a fourth pick. Democrats will go nuts trying to stop it,
- 10:06Speaker 1: block it, all that stuff. They put out that list
- 10:09Speaker 1: of the most powerful women in Washington. Melania's on it.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Usha Vance is on it. Susie Wiles, White House Chief
- 10:17Speaker 1: of Staff. But you know who's on it? Natalie Harp
- 10:20Speaker 1: who's an executive assistant to the president. Because they say
- 10:26Speaker 1: she's always by his side. Well, that's what an executive
- 10:28Speaker 1: assistant is. It's like your secretary. They're always there if
- 10:31Speaker 1: you're the president. And she's not the only one. There's
- 10:34Speaker 1: Margo Martin. There's three of them. There's Chamberlain, Harris. There's
- 10:38Speaker 1: three of them. But for some reason, they just want
- 10:42Speaker 1: to go. They pick a target, and then they go
- 10:44Speaker 1: crazy trying to smear them. Here's a big article. Where
- 10:49Speaker 1: to go pumpkin picking on Long Island? Oh, my gosh.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Stop with the pumpkin picking. You know, just stop it. Hey,
- 11:00Speaker 1: you go to Long Island, go to any great supermarket.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Right in front, there's a whole rack of pumpkins. They
- 11:05Speaker 1: got a million pumpkins in front. Any suburb, Connecticut, go
- 11:09Speaker 1: to Balducci's. Right in front, there's 500 pumpkins there. That's
- 11:12Speaker 1: where you pick a pumpkin. You don't have to drive.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You drive to a pumpkin patch, you have to pick
- 11:17Speaker 1: it off the What are they growing? A tree? Out
- 11:20Speaker 1: of the ground? I have no idea. Pumpkin patch. Pumpkin picking.
- 11:27Speaker 1: You really have to re-examine your life if this is
- 11:29Speaker 1: your weekend high point. We're going pumpkin picking. Just go anywhere.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Go any place. Walk into anything. They got pumpkin latte.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Go over there. There's pumpkin frozen yogurt. Go over here.
- 11:42Speaker 1: There's pumpkin this. Everything is pumpkin. The other thing is
- 11:46Speaker 1: this apple picking. that people actually drive two hours out
- 11:50Speaker 1: to some orchard to pick at, go to any supermarket,
- 11:55Speaker 1: go to Whole Foods, go to Wegmans, go to any place.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Right in the front, there's an apple section where they
- 12:01Speaker 1: have 42 different kinds of apples. You can pick your
- 12:04Speaker 1: apples there. That's apple picking. Because when you get to,
- 12:07Speaker 1: used to be just going to buy an apple. They
- 12:09Speaker 1: had red apples, they got green apples. Now you go,
- 12:11Speaker 1: you can't figure out what you want. They got the gala,
- 12:13Speaker 1: gala pink apples. They got Fuji apples. They have, uh,
- 12:18Speaker 1: crisp this apples honey crisp it's impossible and when did
- 12:23Speaker 1: this happen with this 47 kinds of apples so forget
- 12:27Speaker 1: all this forget all this Michael Douglas confirms that when
- 12:33Speaker 1: he was making the movie romancing the stone he did
- 12:38Speaker 1: have an affair with Kathleen Turner he said she was
- 12:42Speaker 1: smart funny sexy the deep sultry voice they did have
- 12:47Speaker 1: an affair Now, why is he confessing this in his
- 12:50Speaker 1: new memoir? I have no idea. They went to Kathleen
- 12:53Speaker 1: Turner and asked her about this, and she said, good heavens,
- 12:58Speaker 1: what a fuss about something 40 years ago. I love Michael.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I look forward to seeing the book. That's a yes. But,
- 13:06Speaker 1: you know, what he doesn't mention is, Just about every
- 13:09Speaker 1: movie ever made, the leading man was sleeping with the
- 13:12Speaker 1: co-star or somebody in the cast. I could name names.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I could go down the list. It happens all the time.
- 13:20Speaker 1: All the time. And very often, they're making the movie.
- 13:24Speaker 1: It's at a studio in Hollywood. But then there's the
- 13:26Speaker 1: month where they go on location somewhere and you got
- 13:29Speaker 1: nothing else to do. It happens all the time. This
- 13:32Speaker 1: goes on in every movie set. Not to mention that,
- 13:35Speaker 1: you know, the big stars all have a big trailer,
- 13:37Speaker 1: a trailer that They decorate it like a beautiful living room.
- 13:42Speaker 1: And when you're making a movie, you got to shoot
- 13:44Speaker 1: scenes for an hour. Then you got like a two
- 13:46Speaker 1: hour wait while they set up for another scene and
- 13:49Speaker 1: do all this stuff. So you got to go sit
- 13:51Speaker 1: in your trailer for two hours. It's very common on
- 13:54Speaker 1: most movie sets that if you're the big star, they'll say,
- 13:57Speaker 1: what do you want? You want a massage? You want a,
- 14:01Speaker 1: I can't say the words. It's a certain sexual act
- 14:03Speaker 1: you want. And if you want it, they'll send somebody
- 14:06Speaker 1: in to do it. Uh, this goes on all the time.
- 14:09Speaker 1: You're not supposed to know this, but it goes on
- 14:11Speaker 1: all the time on every movie step. You could go
- 14:14Speaker 1: back to those movies from the forties, you know, like, uh,
- 14:18Speaker 1: any movie Humphrey Bogart, Clark, any, whoever it was, they
- 14:22Speaker 1: were sleeping with the co-star. We could go into great
- 14:25Speaker 1: detail here, but we won't. It happened all the time. Constantly.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Classic example, Spencer Tracy ends up sleeping with Catherine Hepburn.
- 14:34Speaker 1: It becomes like the love of his life, but, uh,
- 14:37Speaker 1: Michael Douglas, I guess the reason he did this is
- 14:40Speaker 1: to sell the memoir because he's a great actor, great guy,
- 14:43Speaker 1: Michael Douglas. But right now, if somebody said, ooh, there's
- 14:46Speaker 1: a book about Michael Douglas, who the hell's going to
- 14:48Speaker 1: read it? But you got to put stuff like this
- 14:50Speaker 1: in and leak it out to get people to buy
- 14:52Speaker 1: the book. Hey, we'll take some calls next. 800-321-0710 is
- 14:54Speaker 1: the number. Give me a call. 800-321-0710.
