At 12:20 AM in southeast Topeka, chaos erupted at Highland Park Townhomes as police raced to a scene of dogs attacking people. Amid a violent three-person brawl, two dogs escaped an apartment, viciously injuring a woman and then attacking a bystander trying to help. Officers were forced to use firearms to stop the attacks, killing both dogs—one in the parking lot, the other inside an apartment.
