- 6:36Speaker 2: Because somebody mentioned to me as you guys were walking
- 6:38Speaker 2: in that you don't even know who else is on
- 6:40Speaker 2: this bill with you guys. So Alter Ego twenty twenty six.
- 6:43Speaker 2: It's hosted by US, it's hosted by The Woody Show.
- 6:46Speaker 2: It is happening at the Forum in Los Angeles on Saturday,
- 6:49Speaker 2: January seventeenth. So we'll get past all the holiday stuff
- 6:53Speaker 2: and then first thing we do the entire year is
- 6:55Speaker 2: Alter Ego. Now, it's safe to say Sublime is on
- 6:58Speaker 2: the lineup, so you guys.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Are that we're gonna do it. We're gonna we're gonna
- 7:02Speaker 6: play rock and roll music.
- 7:03Speaker 2: So there's there's another band on the line called Almost Monday,
- 7:05Speaker 2: which we've been playing at the Yeah, so We've heard
- 7:11Speaker 2: their songs, but I have not met them yet, so
- 7:13Speaker 2: they're cool.
- 7:13Speaker 6: We met them briefly out of where were we playing Seattle? Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 6: we were playing in Seattle couple of weeks ago, and
- 7:18Speaker 6: we love.
- 7:18Speaker 1: That big radio song.
- 7:20Speaker 6: It's been blasting around stuck in my head, right, And
- 7:26Speaker 6: they were very nice and seemed really passionate dudes. And
- 7:28Speaker 6: the show they put on up in Seattle that they
- 7:30Speaker 6: played all right before we did, it was just electric.
- 7:33Speaker 1: It was really great. Yeah, it was awesome. Alright, so
- 7:35Speaker 1: Sublime almost Monday Perez. Are you familiar with Perez? Okay,
- 7:40Speaker 1: so that that's that's it. That's that's that's a new friend,
- 7:43Speaker 1: Miles Smith.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Who's had a huge it's had a huge, huge year stargazing.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I know you've heard the song. It's it's been every
- 7:51Speaker 1: year you just played. I was watching some sporting but
- 8:05Speaker 1: they don't play like the halftime.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So anyway, this was a this so this is another
- 8:10Speaker 1: new friend. They're playing the show. They're playing the show.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Yeah, so Sublime almost Monday gg Perez Miles Smith. Now
- 8:17Speaker 2: I'm sure from here on out you are very familiar
- 8:19Speaker 2: with all the bands that are playing also, and this
- 8:21Speaker 2: is gonna be their first time playing in LA in
- 8:23Speaker 2: ten years.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Good Charlotte, I ever heard of them?
- 8:26Speaker 2: All right, so good good Charlotte will be on the
- 8:28Speaker 2: line for Alter Ego, also playing Alter Ego Cage the Elephant.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, yeah before those guys are awesome? Did I
- 8:35Speaker 1: mention Sublime is gonna be on the twenty one pilots
- 8:40Speaker 1: total one pilots.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Twenty one of them.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I think they got room for two more, yeah, pilots, and.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Then also on Alter Ego twenty twenty six. Green Day
- 8:49Speaker 2: will be playing, so yeah, white a line, dude, it's
- 8:53Speaker 2: a great line. Green Day, Tourna one pilots, Sublime, Cage
- 8:55Speaker 2: the Elephant. Good Charlotte, Miles Smith, GG Perez Almost Monday.
- 8:59Speaker 2: The show is happening Saturday, January seventeenth there at the Forum.
- 9:03Speaker 1: This is gonna rock. We're gonna need a bigger venue.
- 9:04Speaker 1: We don't need two of those nights were two nights.
- 9:08Speaker 1: It is one night, but we're happy to have you there.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Last time we saw you, guys, you were playing like
- 9:13Speaker 2: a pool party for us and Jacob's like in the pool.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I do remember that night.
- 9:19Speaker 6: Yeah, oh yeah, I wish I could talk about what
- 9:23Speaker 6: happened after the step probably better that, I don't know,
- 9:29Speaker 6: makes some new friends keep the old one of silver
- 9:31Speaker 6: and one his gold.
- 9:32Speaker 2: So dude, tell me about just just tell me about
- 9:34Speaker 2: your life at this point, man, because first of all,
- 9:37Speaker 2: for people who may not be familiar, Jacob is the
- 9:40Speaker 2: son of Bradley, who was the original lead singer of
- 9:43Speaker 2: Sublime and then you know, Sublime, you know, did their
- 9:47Speaker 2: thing and Rome joined for a while and he was
- 9:50Speaker 2: he was the Sublime with Rome, and then uh you
- 9:53Speaker 2: played was it just based on that one gig that
- 9:55Speaker 2: kind of like wait a minute.
- 9:56Speaker 6: Uh yeah, but that one Craig was, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 10:01Speaker 6: before Coachella and no, the gig, the gig that was
- 10:03Speaker 6: our our first it wasn't even really a Sublime proper gig.
- 10:06Speaker 6: But there was a benefit show for HR from Babern
- 10:08Speaker 6: What was the name of the venue, you.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Know the tearogram is it Tarogram? Yeah?
- 10:11Speaker 6: So yeah here in Los Angeles, and you know, uh,
- 10:14Speaker 6: HR is like, you know our hero, you know, especially
- 10:16Speaker 6: about an Eric, So just to do anything to help
- 10:19Speaker 6: out was really special, you know Eric real they wanted
- 10:21Speaker 6: to do it, and then Bud wanted to do and
- 10:23Speaker 6: they're like why don't we have Ja come up and
- 10:24Speaker 6: walt sing some Sublime songs and us through having fun doing.
- 10:28Speaker 1: That is what was like.
- 10:30Speaker 6: Well, I mean, you know, our buddy Jos Galante has
- 10:33Speaker 6: a buddy named Paul Tillette who really likes ska music
- 10:37Speaker 6: and puts on little local festivals, and he wanted us
- 10:41Speaker 6: to come play his local event called Coachella.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Right, yeah, I mean nobod's heard of it.
- 10:45Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, yeah, no pressure, no pressure, support it and
- 10:48Speaker 6: go check it out.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And yeah, no no pressure. Freaking dude. So I don't
- 10:52Speaker 1: get stage fright or whatever.
- 10:53Speaker 6: You know, I've been performing since I was seventeen, in
- 10:56Speaker 6: and out of just these you know, all sorts of
- 10:58Speaker 6: terrible nameless man not I don't want to say there
- 10:59Speaker 6: was a lot of fun, you know, travel around the country,
- 11:02Speaker 6: just trying to do anything I can to get anything
- 11:04Speaker 6: to stick to the wall, just just grind in total obscurity,
- 11:07Speaker 6: just playing for.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Five people every night.
- 11:09Speaker 6: And then finally started to get a little bit of
- 11:11Speaker 6: traction off with Jacob's Castle and anyway you.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Still play, you know with Jacobs Yeah shows, it's it's
- 11:18Speaker 1: helped out a lot.
- 11:19Speaker 6: So and so I really felt though I cut my
- 11:21Speaker 6: teeth and I played some bigger festivals and that sort
- 11:23Speaker 6: of thing with other bands. But wow, man, yeah, stepping
- 11:26Speaker 6: onto the stage of Coachella was was awful.
- 11:29Speaker 1: It is just horrible. Oh man. It was the word.
- 11:32Speaker 6: And you know, like we're so comfortable and locked in now,
- 11:35Speaker 6: Like I tell people out there, please come to a
- 11:36Speaker 6: Sublime show. I'm telling you're gonna have so much fun.
- 11:38Speaker 6: Buy some CDs, buy some tapes, buy a T shirt
- 11:41Speaker 6: for mom and dad, Like we are so comfortable now
- 11:44Speaker 6: and locked in that I could truly endorse some behind
- 11:46Speaker 6: and say that we are well rehearsed and put on
- 11:47Speaker 6: a great entertaining show every time. But that first show was, uh,
- 11:51Speaker 6: you know, nerve wracking. Is is like an understatement.
- 11:54Speaker 1: It was just pressure. Yeah, because you know all the songs. Yeah,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I didn't know. You really didn't know the song.
- 12:00Speaker 6: I mean we had a couple months to rehearse, but
- 12:01Speaker 6: that's not enough. Like people will be.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Like, well come on, kid, you had your whole life
- 12:05Speaker 1: to learn them.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Like, I don't know it's going to yes, I don't know.
- 12:07Speaker 6: It's gonna be stepping into a kind of a dead
- 12:09Speaker 6: relative to go portray their their most famous and beloved works.
- 12:13Speaker 1: To you know, thousands upon thousands of.
- 12:15Speaker 6: Very expectant fans and by the way, ninety nine point
- 12:18Speaker 6: nine per some of other people. You know, I could
- 12:19Speaker 6: be up there in a Santa had singing Christmas carols
- 12:21Speaker 6: and they probably like keep the dream alive.
- 12:23Speaker 3: They're jacob uls, like you.
- 12:25Speaker 6: Know, it's it. But to me, it was very, very important.
- 12:28Speaker 6: And I take this stuff very seriously because of my
- 12:30Speaker 6: late father. He didn't get to experience Coachella, or to
- 12:33Speaker 6: be on this the wonderful The Woody Show, and to
- 12:35Speaker 6: go play you know, all these awesome events and stuff
- 12:37Speaker 6: like that. This is his and my uncle's cash and
- 12:40Speaker 6: life and their experience that that they are deserved of.
- 12:43Speaker 6: So and the fans are deservative of having the most
- 12:45Speaker 6: authentic experience of the band possible. I mean the success.
- 12:49Speaker 6: So this is not to jump ahead at the success
- 12:51Speaker 6: for the most recent single is is not only mind blowing,
- 12:53Speaker 6: but it's really reassuring to show the staying power and
- 12:58Speaker 6: of a band like this and how many people have
- 12:59Speaker 6: been waiting for it. So that goes with that said,
- 13:02Speaker 6: all of that was in my head walking up on stage,
- 13:04Speaker 6: and I was like, don't blow it, don't blow it,
- 13:06Speaker 6: and I don't think we blew it too bad, but dude,
- 13:07Speaker 6: it was just so much better.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Regardless of whatever you end up going into I think
- 13:12Speaker 2: a lot of people fake it do they make it right?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Like you go in there and you're almost playing or
- 13:16Speaker 2: you're playing a role like you said, like your dad's role.
- 13:18Speaker 2: You're coming in there, you're trying to you're basically emulating him.
- 13:22Speaker 2: You're trying or trying to.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I mean, there's different until you're able to like then
- 13:26Speaker 1: take it and make it your own, which is what
- 13:28Speaker 1: you're kind of saying.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Is that sure?
- 13:29Speaker 2: Now it's like you feel totally comfortable, you can get
- 13:31Speaker 2: up on stage and you sing the songs.
- 13:33Speaker 1: You're meeting the expectation of the fans.
- 13:34Speaker 2: But also it's it's it's your thing too, because now
- 13:37Speaker 2: you got your you know and sonata, like this is
- 13:39Speaker 2: one of your songs that you helped create with this band. Yeah,
- 13:42Speaker 2: and not just not just you know, you know, doing
- 13:45Speaker 2: the classic songs.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah, like holding the torch and you're carrying Yeah, yeah.
- 13:49Speaker 6: Thank you. That is a really good, you know, analogy.
- 13:51Speaker 6: And at the end of the day, I always try
- 13:52Speaker 6: to tell you, like, look, you know, we're not hearing
- 13:54Speaker 6: cancer here. You know, we're a lot of dumb industry
- 13:58Speaker 6: where it's just fun rock music attainment. So I try
- 14:01Speaker 6: to truly not take myself too seriously, but at the
- 14:03Speaker 6: same time, I do try to, you know, have an
- 14:05Speaker 6: air of like, you know, what I'm doing is sacred
- 14:07Speaker 6: do a lot of folks out there, and it is
- 14:09Speaker 6: very meaningful. Just because of who I am or who
- 14:11Speaker 6: I'm born, doesn't mean I was just like deserve it
- 14:13Speaker 6: of being in this role or jumping into some big
- 14:15Speaker 6: already pre established band to help out my career.
- 14:18Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 14:19Speaker 6: This is an incredibly lucky thing. That is a gift
- 14:21Speaker 6: that I get to be able to do, and I
- 14:23Speaker 6: like to treat it as such.
- 14:24Speaker 1: You know, I don't. I don't f around like all
- 14:25Speaker 1: the all the chaos is very uh. I've heard you
- 14:27Speaker 1: work very hard, well, you know, I think I've heard
- 14:30Speaker 1: you're a hard worker. Like you.
- 14:31Speaker 2: You put a lot of yourself, your heart and you know,
- 14:33Speaker 2: just a lot of like you. I don't want to
- 14:35Speaker 2: say lead by example, it's a tacky but you know
- 14:36Speaker 2: what I mean, like you, Yeah, you try to set
- 14:39Speaker 2: an example. You do set an example for you know,
- 14:41Speaker 2: the other people. You know, who are you know, Bud,
- 14:43Speaker 2: who's been there since the beginning. But like, hey, man,
- 14:45Speaker 2: like I'm not taking it for granted.
- 14:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I really try not to, man, brother, I got
- 14:48Speaker 6: a day job that lets me sleep until the crack of.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Noon, like most days. What do I have to complain about?
- 14:54Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, man, not today except for today. Never today. I quit.
- 14:59Speaker 6: No, But it has been a really special ride. And
- 15:02Speaker 6: getting closer and more comfortable with Budd and Eric as
- 15:05Speaker 6: bandmates and just his friends and family has been the
- 15:08Speaker 6: true gift of this experience, because I think that's what
- 15:10Speaker 6: makes Sublime a really approachable, accessible, and a genuinely magnetic
- 15:16Speaker 6: type of project for a lot of fans. As you
- 15:18Speaker 6: can see a lot of your own maybe yeah, fed
- 15:20Speaker 6: up family, you know, in our antics and in our music.
- 15:23Speaker 6: So going forward and writing these new songs, Uh, part
- 15:26Speaker 6: of me being comfortable was like bringing in my buddy's
- 15:28Speaker 6: an over here. He plays, he comes he's my guitar tag,
- 15:30Speaker 6: but he comes up and plays half the sudden guitar
- 15:32Speaker 6: because I don't particularly like playing guitar, you know.
- 15:35Speaker 1: So you some of the new stuff too, right, Yeah
- 15:39Speaker 1: that's him soloing on insinato.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so you're like a You're like a jack of
- 15:43Speaker 2: all trades. He's like a Swiss army knife. He's the
- 15:45Speaker 2: guitar tag.
- 15:46Speaker 6: Yeah, basically like I snuck him in through the enemy
- 15:50Speaker 6: lines or the friendly line.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, Well we have a Jacob noll And zaying
- 15:54Speaker 1: here from from Sublime. They're playing alter ego in the band,
- 15:58Speaker 1: which we we just announced.
- 15:59Speaker 2: This morning's happening at the Former Los Angeles on January seventeenth.
- 16:02Speaker 2: That's a Saturday. Tickets going on sale next Friday. You
- 16:05Speaker 2: guys are gonna play for us.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 16:06Speaker 1: How about that? The new song? How about you want
- 16:09Speaker 1: to hear it? Yeah, I'd to hear it here go.
- 16:12Speaker 2: That's the first single from the new album Upcoming Albums
- 16:14Speaker 2: coming out early in twenty twenty six. Sublime and Sonata
- 16:19Speaker 2: live in studio on The Woody Show.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Is that what they're coloring it now?
- 16:29Speaker 1: Smarts out a big mouth.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Hlua got his honesty, Hardborg and girls, I best to
- 16:37Speaker 5: mont me? Does God go see you went? I'm back
- 16:41Speaker 5: from Mexico. Don't hey if you can't relate to this
- 16:46Speaker 5: Thundards Dolly Street play, I do you want to be
- 16:50Speaker 5: old man normal?
- 16:52Speaker 3: I wanta meglove to hands.
- 16:56Speaker 7: And not on my mond, do.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Come't come to me, can't go act, can't.
- 17:05Speaker 6: Come to me.
- 17:09Speaker 3: On my mind and not aday. It's long something.
- 17:15Speaker 5: I can promise you that if I was the mother,
- 17:18Speaker 5: I've president. I only hire twenty strippers from my gabble
- 17:22Speaker 5: and hit let's coach my bom need not apply if
- 17:25Speaker 5: you never care another one to know the reasons why.
- 17:29Speaker 1: If it's something you should know. I decur your stuff.
- 17:35Speaker 5: I don't want to feel man nor more. I want
- 17:38Speaker 5: to make love to hands and nod.
- 17:42Speaker 3: On my mind. Whoa, I don't want to feel man
- 17:48Speaker 3: nor more. I want to make love to handseranada on
- 17:54Speaker 3: my mind.
- 17:57Speaker 7: Say no.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Sounds real good.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Of you said, how do I want to be your man?
- 18:24Speaker 3: I want to make love to hands and oh Mama, whoa,
- 18:32Speaker 3: I don't want to be your man?
- 18:34Speaker 7: No more.
- 18:35Speaker 3: No Kyoto sented to Alma hands and oh my god,
- 18:43Speaker 3: she's something usual. I declare your stuff. There's something you
- 18:50Speaker 3: should know. I declare your stuff. There's something you should do.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Cridy guards some diguous though.
- 19:04Speaker 1: I declare radio you are stoked.
- 19:10Speaker 8: Sublime and Sanata and gentleman Jacob Insane your game studio
- 19:19Speaker 8: with l Woodie show.
- 19:20Speaker 6: Can I say something, Yeah, I just wanted to say
- 19:23Speaker 6: out there to everybody. Uh, it's just it really means
- 19:26Speaker 6: a lot the outpouring of support for Ensenada.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Man.
- 19:28Speaker 6: When we wrote this like whole record, me and Zano,
- 19:31Speaker 6: our producer, John and Bud and Eric and Dougie and
- 19:34Speaker 6: and Trey, everybody who's involved with the band that call
- 19:37Speaker 6: sublime right now, we didn't. This was just a song
- 19:39Speaker 6: we made to like make ourselves laugh, like some throwaway
- 19:43Speaker 6: they're just making saying funny stuff. There's some emotional core
- 19:46Speaker 6: in there too, I think if you really squint. But
- 19:48Speaker 6: the fact that there's been this much support, I just
- 19:50Speaker 6: want to shout out to not only of the old
- 19:52Speaker 6: og fans who have stuck around this long and are
- 19:55Speaker 6: having fun at the shows, but thank you for showing
- 19:57Speaker 6: the music to your kids and your kids' kids, and
- 19:59Speaker 6: I see them coming out to the shows. There's even
- 20:01Speaker 6: more of the new fans than there are the old
- 20:02Speaker 6: ones now, So en Sonata and the whole new record,
- 20:05Speaker 6: that's for you, guys, man, It's for this next generation.
- 20:07Speaker 6: It's been almost thirty years since since a big number one,
- 20:10Speaker 6: which for a while I thought was like a diss
- 20:13Speaker 6: but we may broke some record for the longest time
- 20:15Speaker 6: between E the one, but but what it means is that,
- 20:17Speaker 6: you know, usually once you get your bust, that's it.
- 20:19Speaker 6: So the fact that we're back here, we're on borrow time,
- 20:21Speaker 6: and it's a gift and there's not a day that
- 20:23Speaker 6: goes by that I wish I could give it back
- 20:24Speaker 6: to my father man so and his name and his
- 20:26Speaker 6: honor and his legacy and all the friends and family
- 20:28Speaker 6: out there who enjoy this music.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Uh whores, I gotta say, you know, it's crazy, man Like, Uh,
- 20:35Speaker 1: there's there's so much that we said about genetics, right,
- 20:38Speaker 1: Like you think about it, like, uh, like my mom
- 20:40Speaker 1: will call the house and my son will pick up
- 20:42Speaker 1: and she'll think she's talking to me.
- 20:44Speaker 6: Yeah right, And it's so weird how my aunt does that.
- 20:47Speaker 6: I've called her before and she had to get off
- 20:48Speaker 6: the phone. She's like started crying.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Or she's like talking to her brother. Yeah.
- 20:52Speaker 2: So it's it's not like you're sitting there trying to
- 20:54Speaker 2: sound like your dad. You just do because you are
- 20:57Speaker 2: your father's son. Yeah, you know, but again, like you
- 21:01Speaker 2: could do these newer songs, right, The newer songs blend
- 21:04Speaker 2: so well with the classic Sublime stuff.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's genetics, guys, Yes, that was our toll man.
- 21:10Speaker 6: Is that that whole era of music we want to
- 21:12Speaker 6: celebrate appreciate. We can never outshine or eclipse the original
- 21:16Speaker 6: Sublime era.
- 21:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 6: What me and Zay and out here intended to do
- 21:19Speaker 6: is just make some stuff that excited us when when
- 21:22Speaker 6: we were kids about that really cool, interesting era of
- 21:24Speaker 6: nineties and early two thousands of music, which I think
- 21:26Speaker 6: is coming back in a big way. Shout out to
- 21:28Speaker 6: the local scene here in southern California. Sunburg Records were
- 21:31Speaker 6: putting on shows everywhere.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, well, hey, it's twenty one Pilots, It's Green Day,
- 21:36Speaker 2: It's Cage the Elephant. Good Charlotte Miles Smith Ggprez Almost
- 21:39Speaker 2: Famous and Sublime Happening at Alter Ego twenty twenty six,
- 21:43Speaker 2: presented by Capitol One at the Forum in Los Angeles
- 21:45Speaker 2: on Saturday, January the seventeenth. And we're super excited to
- 21:50Speaker 2: have you guys here and the new album which is
- 21:53Speaker 2: coming out early next year. As we mentioned, what's the
- 21:56Speaker 2: date on that? I should have the date on that
- 21:58Speaker 2: or is it just at this point just early next year?
- 22:01Speaker 1: Okay?
- 22:02Speaker 6: I first, my management gets mad because I keep saying dates.
- 22:06Speaker 6: Just all right, Dick, and see, I should I should
- 22:08Speaker 6: know this thing as a professional. But I'm a really
- 22:10Speaker 6: terrible interviewer. No, you're not a great conversation. It's even
- 22:13Speaker 6: an interview.
- 22:14Speaker 1: We're just having a good talk. Yeah, and you know,
- 22:16Speaker 1: but I should have wrote that down, but I just
- 22:18Speaker 1: don't know. There's no date.
- 22:19Speaker 6: Yeah, but what will be some new songs called? So
- 22:21Speaker 6: I might even play one after this too, whatever you
- 22:23Speaker 6: guys want, Yeah, like a classic. Okay, I got one,
- 22:26Speaker 6: I got one. This one really means a lot to me, uh,
- 22:29Speaker 6: stepping into this role. So it has done personal meaning
- 22:31Speaker 6: and twists. But it is especially personal lyrics.
- 22:35Speaker 1: When it comes to my father's writing. So it always
- 22:38Speaker 1: makes me reflect. So here's one of our favorites.
- 23:06Speaker 3: When your grandpa me.
- 23:11Speaker 5: Tell me that I'll never be said for.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Pulama pair.

- 23:34Speaker 5: tell me are you bad fished? How are you bad
