- 0:00Speaker 1: There he is paying to the drink. I only have
- 0:08Speaker 1: one question. What you trying to get into a day? Yeah?
- 0:18Speaker 1: We have so much to catch up on. I don't
- 0:20Speaker 1: even know where to begin. I love that you're up.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Make sure your settings are right? Are you recording on
- 0:28Speaker 1: your appropriate been recording? Dude? I started recording before y'all
- 0:32Speaker 1: let me in the meeting. Okay, Hi everyone, high listeners.
- 0:37Speaker 1: We missed you, We don't. We have not seen each
- 0:40Speaker 1: other in so long. We have something. This is gonna
- 0:43Speaker 1: be called what's it gonna be called? You catch up episode? Yeah? Yeah,
- 0:47Speaker 1: because we don't. We don't even we didn't. We're not
- 0:49Speaker 1: even reviewing an episode today because we just wanted to
- 0:53Speaker 1: say hi to you. Are loyal listeners. Apologize to you
- 0:57Speaker 1: for being gone for so long and making you listen
- 0:59Speaker 1: to reruns. If they were good, Joel, were they good? Oh?
- 1:02Speaker 1: I picked some of our most awesome interviews to they
- 1:05Speaker 1: were heaters? Okay? And then how many weeks too? So
- 1:09Speaker 1: I'm clear. How many weeks have our amazing listeners been
- 1:11Speaker 1: forced to listen to reruns? I think four or five.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, guys. I should be purged.
- 1:20Speaker 1: It is my fault. I will take the blame. What
- 1:24Speaker 1: happened the entire time within Donald's house while we weren't
- 1:27Speaker 1: on the air. You're absolutely right, there's not trying. How
- 1:35Speaker 1: about five minutes before we started the podcast hit the
- 1:39Speaker 1: button again? Oh boy? Even I even texted this morning.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I was like, because I knew he'd be like anxious,
- 1:46Speaker 1: maybe you're nervous to hop back in, and he'd go
- 1:49Speaker 1: he'd go too hard on the Ganja. So I even
- 1:51Speaker 1: texted him, don't be too high today. Once I found
- 1:55Speaker 1: out that Ganja fights the micron and the COVID bot.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I haven't watched the news. That's that's one
- 2:07Speaker 1: I haven't heard. O't there you unite? That's right? Wait
- 2:13Speaker 1: they told you that. But yet let's go, doll we start.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I got it from Gail King, Nate and freaking uh
- 2:22Speaker 1: Anthony on the CBS Morning Show. This is real news.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It's not some b alright, Joel, give us the real
- 2:29Speaker 1: real So it does work. I don't know all the
- 2:32Speaker 1: science stuff, but apparently you have to smoke like so
- 2:35Speaker 1: like it's not possible to smoke enough to make can
- 2:37Speaker 1: do it? Do me? Snoop? Who else? Uh? Seth Like
- 2:46Speaker 1: Hank forever. That's right. My goal is is to use
- 2:49Speaker 1: every every path during this catchup episode. You're three in,
- 2:53Speaker 1: you're three in. Well, just give me a chance, okaynor
- 2:57Speaker 1: me now? Alright. So you're saying that someone is reported
- 3:01Speaker 1: that smoking ganja is good for fighting omicron, But you
- 3:06Speaker 1: have to smoke so much that you have to be
- 3:09Speaker 1: like a Snoop Dogg level person. I don't know if
- 3:12Speaker 1: I remember correctly. You no human can physically, It's not
- 3:16Speaker 1: possible because it's smoking up. I'm going for it. What
- 3:23Speaker 1: was it like in your house, Donald, when you told
- 3:25Speaker 1: your wife that you weren't just getting high for for pleasure,
- 3:29Speaker 1: you were getting high to fight. I'm sure that went
- 3:31Speaker 1: over well. Uh she she she wasn't that happy about it.
- 3:36Speaker 1: But but somewhere it's sad. I feel like she understood
- 3:43Speaker 1: what's good with you? Man? You tell me what's good?
- 3:45Speaker 1: What's good? Daniel? What's good? I haven't Donald and I
- 3:50Speaker 1: neither one of us have our fancy cameras set up,
- 3:52Speaker 1: so we don't look at Look how good Daniel's camera.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It's crisp, you know what it is? Thank you? Yeah?
- 4:02Speaker 1: Speaking of YouTube, dude, during this break, I caught my
- 4:07Speaker 1: daughter muck banging my six year old daughter sitting down
- 4:16Speaker 1: at the table recording herself eating the pancakes and bacon
- 4:22Speaker 1: that I made her right like one of those videos
- 4:26Speaker 1: like I'm going to take a nice little bite right here.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Let's so she was imitating the muck Bangers. Yes, I
- 4:32Speaker 1: don't know I posted on YouTube or any Hell no, man,
- 4:36Speaker 1: she thinks she okay. So she has all of these
- 4:38Speaker 1: videos that she's done or for YouTube or for her
- 4:43Speaker 1: social media that she thinks are being posted. It's like
- 4:47Speaker 1: her dance and stuff, and you know, trying to you know,
- 4:52Speaker 1: she has all of these videos that she thinks that
- 4:54Speaker 1: she thinks is up, but they're not up obviously. And
- 4:58Speaker 1: let me see my muang video with how well she's not.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Come on, man, nothing about my numbers. I just go
- 5:08Speaker 1: right into the photos and I'm like, look chack at
- 5:10Speaker 1: see oh I see. Well, I just want to again
- 5:14Speaker 1: just start off by six I know, okay. I just
- 5:20Speaker 1: wanted to start off by thanking all you loyal listeners
- 5:23Speaker 1: for for hanging in there. Um Irena, we're gonna go
- 5:25Speaker 1: around the room and talk about what we all went
- 5:27Speaker 1: up to. Um. I made a movie which I'll go
- 5:29Speaker 1: into detail, but that's that was the impetus. Both Donald
- 5:32Speaker 1: and I had a project to do that that we
- 5:34Speaker 1: both created independently of each other, and we'll talk about
- 5:38Speaker 1: and tell you about, but that both of those things
- 5:41Speaker 1: happening was sort of the impetus for saying, hey, we
- 5:44Speaker 1: gotta take some time off because we just can't do
- 5:46Speaker 1: it all. And then it went into the holiday and
- 5:48Speaker 1: so we had backlog a lot of those episodes for you.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I think now we can, um at least for the
- 5:55Speaker 1: time being, be more current, um, which I like, I
- 6:00Speaker 1: do like it. Yeah, I prefer if we go back
- 6:02Speaker 1: to the Thursday record. You well, it happened, but I
- 6:08Speaker 1: think that can make it work. We'll see, we'll get
- 6:10Speaker 1: it done. I think you're not done with your project yet.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You have like a kind of right, No I'm not,
- 6:17Speaker 1: by no means I'm in post but um but but well, anyway, anyway,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I just wanted to say, in all sincerity, thank you
- 6:23Speaker 1: for being patient with us, and for those of you
- 6:25Speaker 1: who actually listen to the replayers, thank you. Um, what's
- 6:31Speaker 1: been a note. I just you know. The first thing
- 6:32Speaker 1: on my mind is that Joel and Daniel have signed
- 6:35Speaker 1: up yet another rewatch show. This one is are they
- 6:39Speaker 1: are you guys? You guys are not on the show?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Are you? Because if if if she stole our sidekicks,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I would be pissed, Donald, wouldn't you? Oh, there would
- 6:53Speaker 1: be so much beef when you and the announcement, Donald,
- 6:56Speaker 1: did it cross your mind that are these mo fos
- 6:58Speaker 1: on their show too? Right away? Because we had this
- 7:01Speaker 1: conversation before, because we knew that you two were very
- 7:05Speaker 1: involved in the right we weren't allowed to tell the
- 7:07Speaker 1: audience we were about to tell you listeners because they
- 7:10Speaker 1: were trying my heart and these two were trying to
- 7:13Speaker 1: close the deal on New Girl, we weren't allowed to
- 7:15Speaker 1: talk about it and sorry, dog ahead, and so we
- 7:19Speaker 1: knew that it was in the works. So when I
- 7:21Speaker 1: saw that it popped up, the first thing I thought
- 7:24Speaker 1: of was they better not have crossed over, Like you know,
- 7:29Speaker 1: this isn't the Jefferson's and all in the family. No,
- 7:32Speaker 1: this is not that, and this isn't this. Heud not
- 7:37Speaker 1: have done be unthinkable, And I'm happy to hear that
- 7:43Speaker 1: you haven't. No, No, it's its own unique show. It's
- 7:47Speaker 1: three hosts, which makes it you know, you don't want
- 7:49Speaker 1: like five hosts on Mike to me, that's very confusing. Uh,
- 7:54Speaker 1: and so you know it's it's the three of them.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It's really cute. They play a true American game at
- 7:58Speaker 1: the end of every episode. I think people will like it. Um,
- 8:01Speaker 1: it's been fun to see. As we announced, a lot
- 8:03Speaker 1: of people are like, scrubb is my number one favorite show,
- 8:05Speaker 1: with New Girls number two, Like, I can't believe those
- 8:08Speaker 1: crossover Now, Daniel, will you be editing the episodes? I
- 8:12Speaker 1: will be editing? Okay, So that feels a bit donald,
- 8:15Speaker 1: a bit like he's gonna bring the editing magic that
- 8:17Speaker 1: we enjoy to their Well, I'm not gonna what if.
- 8:22Speaker 1: What if what if fans are like, oh that is
- 8:24Speaker 1: such a Daniel edit, I'll be shocked if they notice.
- 8:32Speaker 1: You know, I want everyone to succeed. And you know, yeah,
- 8:35Speaker 1: I'm very happy for the three hosts of the New
- 8:40Speaker 1: Girl podcast. That's a reward. We're giving you a free
- 8:43Speaker 1: plug here on Fake Yeah. Well they're they're they're part
- 8:46Speaker 1: of the I Heart family now. And uh and hey,
- 8:49Speaker 1: that Zoe Decianelle, who I haven't seen in years, but
- 8:52Speaker 1: she's a lovely, lovely person. And uh, I think you
- 8:56Speaker 1: guys are gonna have a great time. Are they doing
- 8:57Speaker 1: the same sort of thing where they watch before and
- 8:59Speaker 1: then discuss the episode. Yes, it's still a recap show.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Also like Office Ladies, you know, so they watched the episode,
- 9:05Speaker 1: then they recap it. Um, they're doing more frequent interviews,
- 9:09Speaker 1: so we have like a lot of really cool So
- 9:14Speaker 1: you guys, are you guys are overproducing over there? Is
- 9:17Speaker 1: that what's going on? It seems you guys, it's like
- 9:19Speaker 1: you're overchieving. It seems like you're overachieving. It seems like
- 9:22Speaker 1: you're overachieving over there. And you and you and you're
- 9:25Speaker 1: like they're often running on fake doctor's real friends. You
- 9:30Speaker 1: guys are like my agents, you know what I mean.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I get on the show all of a sudden, they're like,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you know what, I need to just fall back a
- 9:37Speaker 1: little bit. Donald's working. I don't have to hustle as hard.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Running accusation is accurate to well that that you that
- 9:49Speaker 1: you've reached this far into our show, and you're like, oh,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I can't wait to book exciting guests for the Zoe
- 9:55Speaker 1: Deschanel program. I'm not going to give a funk about
- 9:59Speaker 1: booking guest for well, you know, fans certainly were concerned.
- 10:04Speaker 1: They had very similar attitudes. They were like, does this
- 10:07Speaker 1: mean you're leaving fake doctors? And what it is like?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Nothing is really changing, all the same energy and love
- 10:12Speaker 1: that I've always brought. We just you know, they do
- 10:15Speaker 1: have advantage of two additional years of my experience as
- 10:17Speaker 1: an executive producer, so that might help them a little bit,
- 10:21Speaker 1: just you know, straight out thin on the show it
- 10:24Speaker 1: says that might help him a little bit. Just additional
- 10:27Speaker 1: education and experience might be beneficial to any project that
- 10:31Speaker 1: you feel that you'll be taking the knowledge that you've
- 10:34Speaker 1: gleaned from this program doing so well and bringing it
- 10:37Speaker 1: over there. And that's sure. We have copyrighted some of
- 10:40Speaker 1: our things, like Joel, are they going to have a
- 10:44Speaker 1: soundboard at this time? I bet they won't get as
- 10:50Speaker 1: racy as we get because they seem like wholesome people.
- 10:53Speaker 1: It's a much cleaner show. Because we've talked about the
- 10:57Speaker 1: girth of Donald shaft on here. I don't think that's
- 11:00Speaker 1: going to come up talk is to be sure, I
- 11:05Speaker 1: don't think they're going to talk about my mean they
- 11:11Speaker 1: bring up your particular penis. Can you imagine a New Girl?
- 11:16Speaker 1: The New Girl recap show has a whole segment on
- 11:19Speaker 1: the girth of Donald. Hi, Heart, you're welcome for the
- 11:24Speaker 1: free advertising. Yeah, there you go, high heart. Um is
- 11:28Speaker 1: I heart mad at us because we were gone so long? Joel?
- 11:31Speaker 1: Is there some secret meeting where they're like fun those guys. No, No,
- 11:34Speaker 1: not at all. They understand people need rest and breaks.
- 11:37Speaker 1: And that's why I mean every show does like a
- 11:39Speaker 1: short run of like here's some classic episodes or here's
- 11:42Speaker 1: some guest hosted episodes. People have to take time off.
- 11:44Speaker 1: We can't be doing this. You know what I love
- 11:48Speaker 1: is that nobody sees this coming. Everybody still thinks we're down.
- 11:52Speaker 1: We haven't promoted this that hard or anything like that.
- 11:55Speaker 1: There's only one person that knows this, and I didn't
- 11:58Speaker 1: trade in any information for it. But you know, there's
- 12:02Speaker 1: one person who knows that we're coming back right now,
- 12:06Speaker 1: and that's the that's uh Maria from the Mandalorian. But
- 12:11Speaker 1: do you know sometimes I try to trade some of
- 12:13Speaker 1: our little secrets for some Mando secret or some uh
- 12:19Speaker 1: or some or some Boba Fette secrets or anything. I
- 12:27Speaker 1: expressed some things. Let's just say I expressed some things.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And are you not going to speak openly about um
- 12:37Speaker 1: Boba fet Um. Is that something I'll speaking very openly
- 12:41Speaker 1: about Boba Fett. I have no problem doing that, okay
- 12:43Speaker 1: because I haven't seen an episode. But my sense is
- 12:47Speaker 1: a non Star Wars obsessive person, is that the fans
- 12:50Speaker 1: are not responding to it like they um did Mandalorian.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Do you guys want to speak to them? Okay? So
- 12:56Speaker 1: here's how I'm without like a half hour, like the
- 12:59Speaker 1: won't be half left, it won't be a half hour.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Mandalorian is who we thought Boba Fett was. That's the Mandalorian, right.
- 13:07Speaker 1: We thought the character of the Mandalorian is exactly what
- 13:11Speaker 1: Boba Fett should be. Now they've done They've done that already,
- 13:15Speaker 1: and they've now reintroduced Boba Fett, and it's like, how
- 13:18Speaker 1: do we make this story unique? We can't go the
- 13:22Speaker 1: Mandalorian route. So a lot of the things that we
- 13:25Speaker 1: as fans expected Boba Fette to be doing, he's not
- 13:30Speaker 1: doing because the Mandalorian has already done it, you know
- 13:33Speaker 1: what I mean, And so we can't really So Boba
- 13:35Speaker 1: Fette's walking his own path. I'm trying to be that
- 13:38Speaker 1: of of of a Jedi right now, and let go
- 13:42Speaker 1: of the things that you know concerned me or the
- 13:45Speaker 1: things that I worried about. Let go of my fear
- 13:48Speaker 1: in all of this, and just see how this all
- 13:50Speaker 1: plays out, Joel, your thoughts, Yeah, listen, this is a
- 13:55Speaker 1: show that's really trying to expand the world of Star Wars.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Have the Tuscan Raiders, who were often referred to as
- 14:02Speaker 1: quote sand people, and they were like, maybe that's not cool.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Maybe we make these people individuals, and maybe we have
- 14:07Speaker 1: a bunch of indigenous people involved in crafting the show
- 14:10Speaker 1: and we explore that side. Maybe we get into like
- 14:12Speaker 1: the whole backstory of tattooing, how to go from like
- 14:14Speaker 1: an ocean planet to a desert planet. I'm really excited
- 14:19Speaker 1: if you're like into Star Wars. Lord, It's hard for
- 14:21Speaker 1: me to figure out why people aren't like very there's
- 14:23Speaker 1: constantly expanding what we know and making it richer and
- 14:26Speaker 1: more contextual, and I know a lot of fun ever.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Hear um in people raving about it, though, so I don't.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I don't think it's not my favorite. It's not my
- 14:35Speaker 1: favorite of the Star Wars And I saw a memely
- 14:37Speaker 1: other day that I sent to you. Donal they forgot
- 14:40Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think I sent it to Jowell,
- 14:42Speaker 1: but it had those four people on those wacky looking
- 14:45Speaker 1: scooter bikes and and someone wrote like this doesn't look
- 14:49Speaker 1: like anything in the Star Wars universe. Do you know
- 14:52Speaker 1: what I'm talking? Y, Yeah, but that's incorrect. It's a
- 14:55Speaker 1: direct homage to George Lucas and his love of like
- 14:58Speaker 1: old school cars and be a polls. And I think
- 15:01Speaker 1: that's what was some uh European crew, the mod crew something, Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 1: the mods and the rockers. Yeah, it's a reference to that,
- 15:11Speaker 1: how they used to ride the scooters with all the
- 15:13Speaker 1: lights on them. Yeah, totally. Well, I don't know anything
- 15:16Speaker 1: about any of that, but I just I just I
- 15:18Speaker 1: noticed that Donald, you don't seem as lit up by
- 15:21Speaker 1: it as you are Mandalorian. You're not humming the theme song.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I want to see how it all plays out. I
- 15:26Speaker 1: think the theme song is dope. Uh, it's kind of
- 15:30Speaker 1: a you know what I mean, don't don't do. I
- 15:32Speaker 1: think it's kind of dope. One of the first themes
- 15:34Speaker 1: the feature like heavy um choral performance. Yeah, so you're
- 15:41Speaker 1: gonna get a lot more. They're making more and you're
- 15:42Speaker 1: gonna get obi one coming soon. We're excited. I'm excited
- 15:46Speaker 1: about all of it. I just want to see how
- 15:47Speaker 1: it all plays out. You know what I mean. I
- 15:49Speaker 1: highly recommend the show's Search Party. Have you guys watched
- 15:52Speaker 1: Search Party? No, but I've heard great things. Listen as
- 15:55Speaker 1: I keep meaning to turn on and just listen. You listener.
- 15:58Speaker 1: There Donald doesn't take my recommend nations, but you listener. Um,
- 16:02Speaker 1: I you're looking for a show, right, Well, I'm telling
- 16:05Speaker 1: you this Show's Search Party on HBO Max is so
- 16:10Speaker 1: entertaining and um it's about five seasons and every season
- 16:16Speaker 1: is different, and it's funny and it's surreal and it's
- 16:19Speaker 1: well acted. And I I binged it over the holiday break.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I really recommend it. Okay, now we're watching um Cheer
- 16:28Speaker 1: Season two Cheers Classic Cheer. Do you remember the Netflix?
- 16:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I thought you were watching Sam and Diane.
- 16:38Speaker 1: So Cheer was that Netflix documentary series about the cheer
- 16:41Speaker 1: the cheer little little, little tiny school in Texas that
- 16:47Speaker 1: almost always wins the n C Double A cheerleading championship
- 16:50Speaker 1: and it was their story and they got into a
- 16:53Speaker 1: lot of controversy, um because one of the students was
- 16:57Speaker 1: found um uh soliciting sex from miners and from and exchanging, um,
- 17:05Speaker 1: trying to get photos out of them, all all that,
- 17:08Speaker 1: all that ship. He's facing fifteen years in jail, minimum sentence,
- 17:12Speaker 1: minimum fifteen years, and he was the likable star of
- 17:16Speaker 1: the show. So it's bizarres. Been watching season two, you
- 17:20Speaker 1: can see that that he's there and the news hasn't
- 17:22Speaker 1: come out yet, he hasn't been arrested yet, but they've
- 17:25Speaker 1: made him like an extra and then all of a
- 17:28Speaker 1: sudden they have to deal with it. And there's a
- 17:30Speaker 1: whole episode where they deal with how this news broke
- 17:34Speaker 1: and it's um. So it's fascinating. But but that aside
- 17:38Speaker 1: that tragedy, aside of of of what happened, what what
- 17:43Speaker 1: happened to those children? Uh, and the show about the
- 17:47Speaker 1: struggles and the pain that these college kids go through
- 17:51Speaker 1: to try and go to these cheerleading um to win
- 17:55Speaker 1: these cheerleading things, and you cannot believe what they do
- 17:58Speaker 1: with the buddy. There's this one kid this season. They say,
- 18:01Speaker 1: you can't the human eye can't clock it. You have
- 18:04Speaker 1: to watch it in SlowMo. He leaps into the air
- 18:07Speaker 1: Donald and he rotates five times. Oh wow, while flipping
- 18:13Speaker 1: he's he's I mean, it's it's it's I've never seen
- 18:17Speaker 1: anything like it. And then they all they're all injured
- 18:20Speaker 1: and they're all working theirs what's it sounds like they're
- 18:26Speaker 1: probably all in pain. They're all in pain, and you know,
- 18:31Speaker 1: there's not they're none of them have any money. They're
- 18:33Speaker 1: all they're all people. Um seems to me most most
- 18:37Speaker 1: of them are from poor households. There's not doesn't seem
- 18:40Speaker 1: to be a lot of money in the future of this.
- 18:42Speaker 1: They're doing it for the love of the sport. You know.
- 18:44Speaker 1: It's not like it's not like they're gonna go. Where
- 18:47Speaker 1: do they go? I don't even know what they I
- 18:49Speaker 1: guess they a lot of them become teachers of cheerleading
- 18:52Speaker 1: and stuff, but but um, I don't know. I highly
- 18:55Speaker 1: recommend Cheer season two because it explains what happened with
- 18:58Speaker 1: um with that star Jerry from season one. And also
- 19:03Speaker 1: it's just you know, I'm I'm just the sucker for
- 19:06Speaker 1: these stories of these kids who I mean, who are
- 19:09Speaker 1: triumphant and they you know, they tossed these girls in
- 19:12Speaker 1: the air and you're like, oh my god, if they
- 19:14Speaker 1: don't catch her, she's going to become a quadriplegic. It's
- 19:16Speaker 1: so scary, and and sometimes they drop them and they
- 19:22Speaker 1: become quadriplegics. No, but they make them, they make them.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Do they get punished? They have to do like a
- 19:27Speaker 1: hundred push ups? If a hundred push ups with dropping
- 19:30Speaker 1: somebody the punishment literally think it should be more than that.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I think the person that you dropped should be able
- 19:36Speaker 1: to throw you off of some Listen. I think if
- 19:40Speaker 1: you're willing to be tossed thirty ft in the air,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you have to know that occasionally you're gonna get jobs.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And the person that and the person that drops me
- 19:50Speaker 1: I should be able to deal out the punishment. If
- 19:52Speaker 1: that's the case, that would thement. What do you think
- 19:56Speaker 1: is the right punishment for for accidentally there's three? Don't
- 20:00Speaker 1: a lot of hundred push ups? I don't think a
- 20:01Speaker 1: hundred push ups is it? But what can I? What
- 20:05Speaker 1: can I? What can a coach do? Like get a paddle,
- 20:07Speaker 1: you get a spanking? Very interesting practice. Let's take a break.
- 20:15Speaker 1: We'll be right back after these fine words. Daniel, how's
- 20:24Speaker 1: the twitch are you have? This? Has it increased since
- 20:28Speaker 1: we blew you up? It has been great. It's been
- 20:30Speaker 1: a lot of fun. I've been putting more work into
- 20:33Speaker 1: it to make it. You know, they talk about you,
- 20:36Speaker 1: did they talk about you on the New Girl the
- 20:38Speaker 1: Girl podcast talk about you? Not at all? Not at all.
- 20:42Speaker 1: They don't talk about your twitch. They there remember that
- 20:48Speaker 1: when you added in, Daniel, don't talk about your twitch. No,
- 20:52Speaker 1: they don't. That's very sweet. I appreciate that a lot
- 20:54Speaker 1: of Um, it's going great. Hey, Joel, we should have
- 20:58Speaker 1: Zoe Dishnell come on and we'll give her a promo.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I will certainly ask my crossover, not not for a
- 21:04Speaker 1: whole not for a whole thing. We'll just say, hey,
- 21:06Speaker 1: Congrabs on your show, tell us how it's going. If
- 21:09Speaker 1: you want some lessons on how to deal with Daniel
- 21:12Speaker 1: and Joel, we can. Yeah. So sorry, sorry, sorry jumping
- 21:18Speaker 1: around because I'm just aren't excited the twitch. Let's let's
- 21:21Speaker 1: get back to Oh, you're very sweet. It's going great. Um,
- 21:25Speaker 1: it's a lot of fun doing new all sorts of
- 21:26Speaker 1: new segments and um have a lot of fun. I'm
- 21:29Speaker 1: learning Spanish, I'm reading stories online, I'm you learned Spanish
- 21:35Speaker 1: on Twitch. I'm learning I'm taking I'm doing babble and
- 21:39Speaker 1: doing lessons every stream to just like keep my keep
- 21:42Speaker 1: my practice of that sounds like really few people in contact.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I appreciate that. That's well. I only do it for
- 21:47Speaker 1: about ten minutes. But do people join you in these lessons?
- 21:50Speaker 1: Is are you doing it so that you could teach
- 21:52Speaker 1: a bunch of people. No, I'm doing it for myself.
- 21:55Speaker 1: But I made a new segment that's just called Daniel
- 21:57Speaker 1: Learns where I'm trying to like learn new things, and
- 22:00Speaker 1: fully the viewers can learn along with me, but I'm
- 22:02Speaker 1: most just trying it out. I have like a bunch
- 22:04Speaker 1: of new segments that I'm doing that are just like
- 22:06Speaker 1: I wish I could see a graph. I wish I
- 22:08Speaker 1: could see a graph I Donald, I would like to
- 22:12Speaker 1: pay for a test audience. You know when they help.
- 22:14Speaker 1: You can get these people and they have a dial
- 22:17Speaker 1: and when they're enjoying Daniel's twitch, they turn it up,
- 22:20Speaker 1: and when they are not, they turn it down, and
- 22:22Speaker 1: then you we get to watch the graph And I
- 22:24Speaker 1: would like to see when they're most entertained, whether it's
- 22:27Speaker 1: muck bang do you think it would be learning? Something
- 22:32Speaker 1: tells me I've only been in the business for a
- 22:35Speaker 1: few years, but something tells me the learning French segment
- 22:38Speaker 1: the graph goes to the bottom. That might be the case,
- 22:42Speaker 1: and you know what, as we as we progress, maybe
- 22:44Speaker 1: maybe that'll be what happens. But I didn't want Okay,
- 22:48Speaker 1: I appreciate that's that's that's a one second Donald. Is
- 22:52Speaker 1: there a game game are you playing that people are liking?
- 22:58Speaker 1: The most exciting game that you're about to laugh again,
- 23:00Speaker 1: But the most exciting game that's happening on my stream
- 23:02Speaker 1: right now is marble racing. And what that means is, well,
- 23:08Speaker 1: what happens is I start a race and people in
- 23:11Speaker 1: the chat can type play in the chat, and they
- 23:14Speaker 1: have a marble added to the race, and then I
- 23:16Speaker 1: broadcasted like it's a horse race, and people that's dope.
- 23:21Speaker 1: That's dope. So you do a marble racing. Can they
- 23:23Speaker 1: win anything with the marble racing? No, just pride and
- 23:26Speaker 1: like maybe further down the line, I might make a
- 23:28Speaker 1: big prize out of it. I wonder, I wonder if
- 23:30Speaker 1: that's I wonder if you could. I'm sure there's so
- 23:33Speaker 1: many laws against this, but it would be great to
- 23:35Speaker 1: be able to do marble racing, but have people betting
- 23:38Speaker 1: on other people's marvels and trying to make that money
- 23:40Speaker 1: like that. I mean they there are things on Twitch
- 23:43Speaker 1: called channel points. It may not be legal, but there
- 23:45Speaker 1: are things in my Twitch called channel points that you
- 23:47Speaker 1: just a crew by being in the chat and people
- 23:49Speaker 1: will bet channel points, so like they're not betting actual money,
- 23:52Speaker 1: but they're betting this like fake currency that Twitch has. Okay,
- 23:55Speaker 1: are you are you so let's get into it. Are
- 23:57Speaker 1: you into all of this metaverse? Are you going going deep?
- 24:00Speaker 1: Are you? Are you opening the matrix rabbit hole? Uh?
- 24:04Speaker 1: Not necessarily, I mean, like we'll see where it goes
- 24:07Speaker 1: per se. But also like I've been a big VR
- 24:09Speaker 1: guy for a while, and there's things that have been
- 24:11Speaker 1: very metaversey that have happened in VR for years now,
- 24:13Speaker 1: like VR chat and even like Fortnite is its own
- 24:15Speaker 1: kind of like metaverse or whatever. So yeah, but nobody's
- 24:18Speaker 1: buying properly, like people are buying property. Now that's I mean,
- 24:22Speaker 1: you know, hey, go off by your property. But I
- 24:24Speaker 1: wouldn't really understand. I'm happy, I'm happy to be the
- 24:27Speaker 1: idiot who didn't get in on it, but I just
- 24:29Speaker 1: cannot believe people are spending money on virtual property. Until
- 24:34Speaker 1: you made a million on a n F t shoot, Yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 1: I don't know. That's really returns on the whole thing.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I don't understand too old. I think I've reached the
- 24:42Speaker 1: two old to understand it, Marker. I think I think
- 24:45Speaker 1: it's it's like there's like half of our audience, or
- 24:49Speaker 1: there's there's a fraction of our audience right now. That's
- 24:52Speaker 1: like yo, y'all are fucking sleeping and they all just
- 24:57Speaker 1: don't understand. They all got apes in their avatars, all
- 25:00Speaker 1: know what they all they all understand that I don't
- 25:02Speaker 1: understand it. All right, So that's that's Daniel Joel. What's
- 25:05Speaker 1: happening with you? You you've signed on It sounds like
- 25:08Speaker 1: you're you're signing lots of shows on my heart and
- 25:12Speaker 1: what else is it? Are you on Fuego Joel? Yes, truly,
- 25:18Speaker 1: there's a lot of things I can't talk about because
- 25:20Speaker 1: they are not announced yet. But what I can share
- 25:23Speaker 1: is the most rewarding thing I've done while we're on
- 25:26Speaker 1: break is helped co create a diversity, equity and inclusion
- 25:29Speaker 1: initiative I heart called Next up UM. We brought in
- 25:32Speaker 1: eight young podcasters from underserved communities, got them thousands of
- 25:37Speaker 1: dollars of equipment and basically helped produce their first you know,
- 25:41Speaker 1: professional podcasts. UM. We are working on getting all of
- 25:47Speaker 1: their shows picked up to network right now. We're really
- 25:49Speaker 1: excited some of the cool projects we did. UM. We
- 25:52Speaker 1: have this wonderful human name Honey. He lives in Alaska.
- 25:56Speaker 1: He's Indigenous and he's yes, Honey is the best. And
- 26:00Speaker 1: what's He's conserving his indigenous language, his native tongue through podcasting.
- 26:07Speaker 1: So he's talking to other, um, thank you, other like
- 26:12Speaker 1: people who are trying to preserve their language from like
- 26:15Speaker 1: Hawaii and all over the continental US, and they speak
- 26:18Speaker 1: in their native tongues and they talk about like why
- 26:20Speaker 1: it's important and like all kinds of things. It's like
- 26:23Speaker 1: such a beautiful podcast. We have another girl named Yah
- 26:26Speaker 1: who is a victim's rights advocate, so UM, when somebody
- 26:29Speaker 1: has been victimized, she shows up and helps guide them
- 26:32Speaker 1: through the process of like do you want to file
- 26:34Speaker 1: charges or not? How can I help you emotionally? UM.
- 26:37Speaker 1: She's been through a ton of trauma herself, and she
- 26:40Speaker 1: tells her story and how she came through all of
- 26:43Speaker 1: that and like how she's helping other people and what
- 26:46Speaker 1: does justice reform look like? And it's so so good.
- 26:49Speaker 1: She's so talented. I can't wait to share her work
- 26:51Speaker 1: with the world. And there's many many others and I'll
- 26:53Speaker 1: be sharing all of them on my social and we'll
- 26:56Speaker 1: be sharing them across the I heart, um, you know,
- 27:00Speaker 1: broadcast space. So there's a lot of good things coming.
- 27:02Speaker 1: But it's just really rewarding to like work with the
- 27:06Speaker 1: community and help these people who you know, they just sorry,
- 27:12Speaker 1: I gets lestered, but they're like, they work so hard
- 27:14Speaker 1: and they care so much. Um, and the stories they're
- 27:17Speaker 1: telling are often not heard, and UM, I'm just really
- 27:20Speaker 1: excited to bring them to congratulations. Thank you. You can
- 27:25Speaker 1: tell you can you can tell how happy it makes you.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I mean, your whole face is lit up, so you
- 27:30Speaker 1: can you can really see that it's it's making a
- 27:33Speaker 1: difference in your life because you've got the audience can't see.
- 27:37Speaker 1: But Joelity beaming ear to ear when she talks about it.
- 27:41Speaker 1: You can hear it in her voice too. You can
- 27:43Speaker 1: hear the passion in her voice right now too. Behind
- 27:46Speaker 1: all of it. Yeah, and that's that's a that's a
- 27:49Speaker 1: that's a wonderful thing, Joel to have something that you
- 27:52Speaker 1: freaking not only did you you championed. Also you help
- 27:56Speaker 1: bring to the forefront, you know what I mean. That's
- 27:59Speaker 1: making a difference right there, making that change right there. Uh.
- 28:05Speaker 1: You know, it's really interesting. My Heart has done a
- 28:07Speaker 1: lot of that recently, if I if I'm correct, with
- 28:10Speaker 1: the whole unionizing and all of that with writers and
- 28:14Speaker 1: stuff like that. So you know, and I don't, I
- 28:17Speaker 1: don't do you guys know of any other company that
- 28:21Speaker 1: that jumped on these initiatives that fast. It's like, you know,
- 28:25Speaker 1: this is a this in my opinion, these are all
- 28:29Speaker 1: really big deals and to and to you know, I
- 28:34Speaker 1: don't know, no real quick, you know what I mean,
- 28:39Speaker 1: it's one of the left and right. And see a
- 28:41Speaker 1: whole bunch of people doing like really incredible things. Um
- 28:44Speaker 1: Like we have my Cultura, which is like a network
- 28:46Speaker 1: of Latin A podcasts and they're so like diverse and
- 28:50Speaker 1: um some are bilingual and some are in Spanish. And
- 28:54Speaker 1: you know, it's nice to see a lot of those
- 28:55Speaker 1: coworkers who have been championing and trying to you know again,
- 29:00Speaker 1: just get their stories out there, finally do it and
- 29:02Speaker 1: sort of break that glass ceiling. So thank you. Well,
- 29:05Speaker 1: you know, how like when people have a successful podcast
- 29:08Speaker 1: like this one. They sometimes then UM get you know
- 29:12Speaker 1: other podcasts underneath them? They like develop Um, other I
- 29:18Speaker 1: would like to I'd like to develop what's it called
- 29:22Speaker 1: a slate? Yeah, I would, Donald and I would like
- 29:25Speaker 1: to develop a slate. Okay, yeah. And the first guest
- 29:28Speaker 1: I'd like a person I'd like to develop is that
- 29:30Speaker 1: guy Dr Penis. I think he should have Dr Penis
- 29:33Speaker 1: should have a regular podcast. Was wondering where this was going.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I agree with you, listen, Donald, wouldn't. I would tune
- 29:42Speaker 1: into a weekly ask Penis questions. I have so many
- 29:48Speaker 1: Penis questions. I know we gotta have him back on duel.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Can you please book him? Um? Audience loves him and
- 29:55Speaker 1: UM like is there such thing as too much penis?
- 29:59Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yes, I think the audience.
- 30:01Speaker 1: I have a feeling our audience would say, okay, guys,
- 30:04Speaker 1: enough of Dr Penis. But there's a subset who would
- 30:08Speaker 1: be like, give me all of the penis. Yes, I agree,
- 30:14Speaker 1: we should give me the whole thing. Yes, and we
- 30:18Speaker 1: should serve them Mr Penis, that they should serve them
- 30:22Speaker 1: all the penis they need. You're right, we should fill
- 30:24Speaker 1: them up. Yes, Now you get sew them up with penis. Yes, Joel,
- 30:33Speaker 1: so can you ask Dr Penis? Let's have him back on.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Let's get more penis questions out because I feel I
- 30:40Speaker 1: only the into like a tenth of my penis. Oh
- 30:48Speaker 1: my gosh. And you know I know that, Yeah, I
- 30:52Speaker 1: know that. Your oother your new show, the New Girl
- 30:54Speaker 1: Show is what's it called, by the way, Welcome to
- 30:57Speaker 1: our Show. Well, I'm sure that Welcome to Our Show
- 31:00Speaker 1: is going to have lots of exciting segments, but they
- 31:04Speaker 1: will have nothing as exciting as me and Donald talking
- 31:07Speaker 1: to a urologist about cock Oh gosh. Well jeez, now,
- 31:20Speaker 1: but man, oh man, so Donald, now let's go to
- 31:28Speaker 1: you tell everyone what's happening. I mean, this is a
- 31:30Speaker 1: whole life transformation. For I've known this guy for a
- 31:34Speaker 1: very very long time, and there's two things about him.
- 31:37Speaker 1: He's an incredible actor and hilarious comedic actor. We all
- 31:43Speaker 1: know that, um and he of course is obsessed with
- 31:46Speaker 1: stop motion animation. He loves it, and he finally so impressive.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I talk you up first, he's so impressively finally made
- 32:01Speaker 1: that should happen, and has a show that combines his
- 32:06Speaker 1: comedic skills with stop motion animation. And that's what he's
- 32:10Speaker 1: been working on. Donald's Go. Yeah. You know, I'd love
- 32:14Speaker 1: stop Motion forever. If you listen to the podcast. I'm
- 32:18Speaker 1: very passionate about it. I talked about it all the time.
- 32:21Speaker 1: It's all you post on Instagram. That's pretty much all
- 32:24Speaker 1: I post on Instagram. Now. I talked about my one
- 32:27Speaker 1: of my uh great friends, Seth Green and his company
- 32:31Speaker 1: Stupid Buddy Studios a lot um and how when I
- 32:35Speaker 1: got out to l A, uh or not even when
- 32:38Speaker 1: I got out to l A. He well, when I
- 32:40Speaker 1: got out to l A, he's one of the first
- 32:41Speaker 1: people I met and we've been friends, you know ever since. Um,
- 32:46Speaker 1: and he had a he you know, like we do
- 32:50Speaker 1: this zoom. They did something similar but for Comic Con,
- 32:53Speaker 1: and I off the cuff pitched the idea of the
- 32:56Speaker 1: Black Indiana Jones, calling it Alabama Jackson. They've body was like,
- 33:00Speaker 1: you know, Donald Faison, if you had the opportunity to
- 33:03Speaker 1: run Stupid Buddy Studios for a day, what would you do?
- 33:06Speaker 1: And I said, I create this show Alabama Jackson, and
- 33:10Speaker 1: the head of Adults Swim was on on the Zoom
- 33:16Speaker 1: with us and he asked for a pitch for that
- 33:20Speaker 1: uh in the next couple of weeks go on. I
- 33:24Speaker 1: have never pitched anything in my life. I've never I've
- 33:28Speaker 1: never written anything in my life, you know, not even
- 33:31Speaker 1: in school. In high school. I you know, when it
- 33:34Speaker 1: came to writing things, I tried to find the quickest
- 33:37Speaker 1: way out of it and you know, just throw up
- 33:40Speaker 1: whatever words I needed to and to move on. And
- 33:42Speaker 1: they asked me to pitch something and write something down,
- 33:45Speaker 1: like write a little Bible down. And I did, with
- 33:48Speaker 1: the help of stupid Buddy Studios. I did it. And
- 33:50Speaker 1: then they said, yo, we liked the idea. Let's make
- 33:53Speaker 1: it a Let's make it, uh, you know, a ten
- 33:56Speaker 1: episode webisode type thing. And I was like, yeah, alright,
- 33:59Speaker 1: bet it. They were like, and you're gonna write it.
- 34:02Speaker 1: And I was like, wait a second, what, Yeah, now
- 34:05Speaker 1: you write it? And I got together, you know, for
- 34:09Speaker 1: really awesome people. I got uh, this young lady Ashley Ray,
- 34:14Speaker 1: I got my buddy Lee House um, and myself uh.
- 34:19Speaker 1: And then my mom wrote only yeah, and I got
- 34:27Speaker 1: my mom And so the four of us for a
- 34:30Speaker 1: month sat on zoom and wrote out these you know
- 34:34Speaker 1: episodes for this uh, these webisodes that we're doing for
- 34:39Speaker 1: adult swim and we finished it. Since then, my buddy
- 34:45Speaker 1: Seth has gotten on board. He's written on it as well. Uh, Chris,
- 34:50Speaker 1: my buddy, Chris Waters has written on it as well. Um.
- 34:53Speaker 1: We animated the whole series. Now that's done. We did
- 34:57Speaker 1: the voice. We got Wanda Sykes to play Harriet Tubman.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Let me give me yo, let me just give you
- 35:04Speaker 1: a breakdown of what the show is. It's a fast
- 35:06Speaker 1: pace animated action comedy, sorry, stop motion animated action comedy
- 35:13Speaker 1: show about a man named Alabama Jackson who's saving black
- 35:17Speaker 1: history with Harriet Tubman through time travel. That's the show.
- 35:23Speaker 1: And you guys, I saw. I was lucky enough to
- 35:26Speaker 1: see the first episode animated, and you cannot believe how
- 35:31Speaker 1: good the animation is. It is. It is incredible, and
- 35:35Speaker 1: I laughed my ass off, of course, but I was
- 35:38Speaker 1: just like, bro that there's no difference from what that
- 35:42Speaker 1: looks like and like what a Hollywood studio would put out.
- 35:45Speaker 1: It was incredible. Oh, we worked so hard on it,
- 35:48Speaker 1: Like dude, and tell them how many, like when you
- 35:50Speaker 1: actually got into production, how many different animators were executing
- 35:55Speaker 1: that it looks we had about six. We had about
- 35:57Speaker 1: six animators, seven animators total. Sometimes people came in guests animated.
- 36:02Speaker 1: There were a lot of animators that I reached out
- 36:04Speaker 1: to to try and get them on board, uh through
- 36:07Speaker 1: because you know, like, Okay, so you write it and
- 36:10Speaker 1: you create all of this, but it's art, man, It's
- 36:12Speaker 1: not just you know, you know, I look at Okay,
- 36:15Speaker 1: it's weird because I look at my acting and stuff
- 36:17Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, it's an art form and it's a
- 36:19Speaker 1: craft and everything like that, but I look at this
- 36:22Speaker 1: more as like fine art in a lot of ways,
- 36:24Speaker 1: because it's there's so much more to just you know,
- 36:28Speaker 1: my body creates the the my illusions and stuff like that,
- 36:32Speaker 1: and I have a crew that creates the illusions. I
- 36:34Speaker 1: need way more people to create uh what we did,
- 36:40Speaker 1: and we did it with a small group of people,
- 36:42Speaker 1: and they all worked really really, really really hard because
- 36:45Speaker 1: they believed in what we were making. And I'm just
- 36:49Speaker 1: so excited. We're now when we get to hear you
- 36:52Speaker 1: tell everyone when we get to see them. We're now
- 36:54Speaker 1: in the process of doing uh final mix on sound
- 36:58Speaker 1: and final special and the special effects and everything like that. Um,
- 37:03Speaker 1: I'm not exactly sure uh when it's coming out, but
- 37:07Speaker 1: we have to deliver it by February. Okay, all right, well, uh,
- 37:11Speaker 1: you will be keeping you posted fans here on all that,
- 37:15Speaker 1: Oh I forgot. There's so many other things, like I
- 37:18Speaker 1: got my brother, uh and my nephew UH wrote on Uh.
- 37:24Speaker 1: He did a lot of the music on this. My
- 37:26Speaker 1: nephew is this amazing rapper. His name is Mizel and
- 37:31Speaker 1: he helped me with a few things. Let's just say
- 37:35Speaker 1: in this uh, in this series, I'm really excited about it.
- 37:39Speaker 1: I mean, you should be you should be you you
- 37:43Speaker 1: It's incredible. You know when your friend shows you like, hey,
- 37:45Speaker 1: here's that thing I've been working so hard on. You're
- 37:47Speaker 1: always like, oh, please be good. And it was fucking awesome. Dude,
- 37:54Speaker 1: you saw I know, if I saw Ruff, the mouths
- 37:57Speaker 1: weren't fully animated yet. But but but dude, what I
- 38:01Speaker 1: saw was incredible and I was so impressed by your arm.
- 38:04Speaker 1: So that was one one of the Pykes. It's it's
- 38:06Speaker 1: Donald and Wanda Psykes is the two main characters, which
- 38:09Speaker 1: you know, what more do you need to know? Oh?
- 38:12Speaker 1: And then you know, uh, we have Seth on the show,
- 38:16Speaker 1: like just the fact that you know Seth is very
- 38:18Speaker 1: invested in the show as well, and so it's really
- 38:21Speaker 1: cool to have him on board and have the whole
- 38:24Speaker 1: stupid buddy team on board. Like you know, I'm I
- 38:29Speaker 1: don't know, man, I'm over the moon about it. I
- 38:31Speaker 1: I could go on anyway. That was the first thing
- 38:33Speaker 1: I did. And then the second thing I did. I
- 38:34Speaker 1: did something that I can't really talk about. But there's
- 38:37Speaker 1: a project coming soon. And it's not Star Wars, but
- 38:40Speaker 1: there's a project coming soon. Even though Danny Trejo was
- 38:43Speaker 1: in Star Wars as the Machete, it's not Star Wars.
- 38:46Speaker 1: But there's a project coming soon that, uh, you guys
- 38:49Speaker 1: should all look out for. I can't talk about it.
- 38:52Speaker 1: It's secretive, but it's real in the field. When will
- 38:55Speaker 1: we know about When will we be able to know
- 38:57Speaker 1: more about that one in a cup? In a few
- 38:59Speaker 1: weeks and a few weeks it will air on television.
- 39:02Speaker 1: I'm just gonna put it out there. It'll be something
- 39:05Speaker 1: out there that you know you didn't expect to see. Oh,
- 39:10Speaker 1: so you're gonna keep it as a surprise. I think
- 39:12Speaker 1: on the show, we should let our amazing listeners know
- 39:15Speaker 1: what to look out for because they might not watch
- 39:17Speaker 1: said show. But as you get closer, but as I
- 39:22Speaker 1: can't do that right now? Are you have to be
- 39:25Speaker 1: a reveal or like the week before, could you say, hey, guys,
- 39:28Speaker 1: watch you can't even do it. I can't even dal
- 39:33Speaker 1: and so I can't say I have one of those
- 39:37Speaker 1: two as you as you three know, I have one
- 39:39Speaker 1: of those two. I'm a secret. I'm a secret reveal
- 39:43Speaker 1: I'm not allowed to talk about, but I'm probably gonna
- 39:46Speaker 1: talk about mine before the week of I'm gonna I
- 39:49Speaker 1: think I'm gonna give our listeners, who we love so much,
- 39:54Speaker 1: heads up for our secret reveal. Okay, well, I like that,
- 39:57Speaker 1: I like I like I like that that's your strategy.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I don't know if the people that you were going
- 40:04Speaker 1: to that you worked for like that strategy, but I
- 40:07Speaker 1: like that. I don't think that the people that I
- 40:09Speaker 1: worked for are listening to our podcast and will care
- 40:12Speaker 1: that much. It's proof that they do. All right, Listen,
- 40:17Speaker 1: I want to I want to give myself a shout
- 40:19Speaker 1: out before I say about my film, and that is
- 40:21Speaker 1: that I just got an email saying, Um, Timpanie, please dale, Um.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Cheaper by the Dozen will be on Disney Plus March. Listen,
- 40:35Speaker 1: you guys, I never made a family anything other than
- 40:38Speaker 1: chicken little as you know. And I'm finally for those
- 40:42Speaker 1: of you know Cheaper by the dozen, the Steve Martin
- 40:45Speaker 1: version or there's an old classic version. Um, I yeah,
- 40:52Speaker 1: there's there's a there's there was an older I don't know,
- 40:55Speaker 1: maybe jewel you can look up when it came out.
- 40:57Speaker 1: But I believe there's a book initially, and I believe
- 41:00Speaker 1: it was based on a true family. And then um,
- 41:04Speaker 1: they made the first film and then has a book
- 41:08Speaker 1: from So the book was from that's the original novel
- 41:13Speaker 1: by Ernestine Gilbert carry uh. And then yeah, in the
- 41:18Speaker 1: nineteen fifties there was a movie. Yeah, and then of
- 41:20Speaker 1: course the Steve Martin one. And ours is a mixed
- 41:24Speaker 1: race family, um with a gabby union and myself are
- 41:28Speaker 1: raising all these kids, yes, Donald Further, I just want
- 41:31Speaker 1: to put it out there. They made a Star is
- 41:33Speaker 1: Born several times. Yes, every time. Yes, this is my
- 41:38Speaker 1: turn to be the Bradley Cooper. Let's go, No, I
- 41:46Speaker 1: I I think listen, I it is great family fair.
- 41:50Speaker 1: I promise you your kids will love it. It is
- 41:52Speaker 1: so it's got something for every every age kid. And
- 41:57Speaker 1: I think it's it's very sweet. I hope you love
- 42:00Speaker 1: it and it's obviously something you can watch with your
- 42:02Speaker 1: children because they're gonna laugh at stuff, and you're gonna
- 42:06Speaker 1: laugh at stuff. And I'm really proud of it. And
- 42:08Speaker 1: it's on Disney Plus March eighteenth, So putting your eykel, guys,
- 42:12Speaker 1: of course I'll bring it up again. But there you go.
- 42:16Speaker 1: You get to see me. I haven't. I haven't acted,
- 42:18Speaker 1: um in a second, um, and I'm I'm yeah, you have.
- 42:21Speaker 1: You've been acting, dude, You just haven't. You've been working.
- 42:25Speaker 1: You haven't listened, dude. Well the pandemic wise, I did
- 42:28Speaker 1: a little. I did some more directing than I did acting. Um,
- 42:31Speaker 1: but but I did like three movies, dude, I all,
- 42:34Speaker 1: but they're small parts anyway, irrelevant. The point is segue
- 42:40Speaker 1: into the director. I kind of and I kind of
- 42:44Speaker 1: messed that up for you my bed. No, I just
- 42:46Speaker 1: want to say anythink I'm most proud of. I spoke
- 42:49Speaker 1: about it on here. Um, but I made him. I
- 42:51Speaker 1: made my fourth film. Um, it's called A Good Person.
- 42:56Speaker 1: It stars um Florence. There's your do it down here,
- 43:04Speaker 1: quick turnaround, Danneline did it for you, Although you're gonna
- 43:06Speaker 1: have to pull out that tympani Um. Listen I had
- 43:09Speaker 1: this glorious experience. Um, Florence Pugh, Morgan Freeman, Molly Shannon,
- 43:15Speaker 1: UM incredible actress named Zoey Lester Jones, an amazing actor
- 43:20Speaker 1: named chan Nazach, a young lady named Celeste O'Connor. For
- 43:25Speaker 1: those of you who saw the latest Ghostbusters, she was
- 43:28Speaker 1: in in that, I believe is is love interest. I
- 43:31Speaker 1: don't know. I didn't see it, but man, is she
- 43:34Speaker 1: an actress. And um, it was really a very hard shoot.
- 43:38Speaker 1: We shot it the whole film in twenty six days,
- 43:41Speaker 1: if you know production, that's pretty darn fast. And um,
- 43:45Speaker 1: and it's pretty magical. I think I'm really proud of it.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I'm here at my at my house cutting it, and uh,
- 43:52Speaker 1: it's a it's it's a dark drama, but like um,
- 43:56Speaker 1: a lot of my other films, it also has moments
- 43:58Speaker 1: where you laugh her ass off. And uh, Florence, I'm
- 44:03Speaker 1: sure most people aren't surprised to know that her performance
- 44:05Speaker 1: is just unbelievable. I just think she's an extraordinary actress.
- 44:09Speaker 1: And of course her her her scene partner is Morgan Freeman,
- 44:12Speaker 1: who's a living legend. And um, and I'm I'm editing
- 44:16Speaker 1: it right now and I'm really really proud of it,
- 44:18Speaker 1: and um and uh and actually, Donald, you're gonna see it. Um,
- 44:25Speaker 1: we are. We My wife is very excited. I'm very excited.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I sent out an email. I wanted to know how
- 44:31Speaker 1: much I love your wife. I sent out an email too.
- 44:34Speaker 1: You know, you start in the business, you do these
- 44:36Speaker 1: things called friends and family. Screening is kind of early
- 44:38Speaker 1: on when you're like, okay, I gotta cut. You know,
- 44:40Speaker 1: we're at the point where it's you know, we're two
- 44:42Speaker 1: people in a room. You know, you you kind of
- 44:43Speaker 1: at a certain point you need feedback. Um, you're not
- 44:47Speaker 1: ready to show it to large audiences or anything like that,
- 44:50Speaker 1: but you know you need you need thirty random friends
- 44:53Speaker 1: of yours and family members of yours too, to say, hey,
- 44:56Speaker 1: I think it's a little slow here, or hey, that
- 44:59Speaker 1: Joe could be funnier if this happened. You know, you
- 45:00Speaker 1: just need some feedback anyway. So I sent an email,
- 45:03Speaker 1: mass email and the like. Within seconds, Casey replied, babysitter
- 45:08Speaker 1: booked We'll be there, And that just makes me love her.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I know I love you too, And the fact that
- 45:18Speaker 1: you were the very first to reply, and men's a
- 45:21Speaker 1: lot to me. So you guys will be there. You
- 45:23Speaker 1: all remember the fame. I think if you for an
- 45:25Speaker 1: avid listener of this podcast, you'll remember the Garden State
- 45:28Speaker 1: story involving Donald. But I'll remind you that we did
- 45:32Speaker 1: one of these for Garden State, and I was battling
- 45:36Speaker 1: with my producers because they kept saying, you have to
- 45:39Speaker 1: cut out one of these endings. The film has too
- 45:42Speaker 1: many endings. It's it's lose this one. And I kept saying, no,
- 45:47Speaker 1: I want to leave that. I really like that. I
- 45:49Speaker 1: think I think you're wrong. And Danny DeVito, who was
- 45:52Speaker 1: one of the producers, exact producers of Garden State, we
- 45:55Speaker 1: do the friends and family screening. It's probably I don't
- 45:58Speaker 1: know people there. He goes, how many of you? He
- 46:03Speaker 1: was leading sort of like Q and A after how
- 46:04Speaker 1: many of you feel the movie has too many endings?
- 46:08Speaker 1: One hand shoots up one hand. I have defense, of course,
- 46:15Speaker 1: of all one one. It's Danny DeVito, dude. So part
- 46:19Speaker 1: of me is like, dude, Danny DeVito is asking for
- 46:22Speaker 1: my my true specifically, not specifically, it felt like it
- 46:28Speaker 1: felt like that. It felt like he was talking to
- 46:30Speaker 1: me like Donald helped me out here. And I was
- 46:33Speaker 1: like Danny, I got you. Danny, I got you. Let
- 46:37Speaker 1: me neget that. I never forget that. First of all,
- 46:40Speaker 1: I don't ever want a yes man. And I'm happy
- 46:42Speaker 1: that you uh spoke out. And I think I probably
- 46:45Speaker 1: eventually cut whatever I didn't think I did couver we
- 46:48Speaker 1: were arguing about. Anyway, there's that old expression, if enough
- 46:52Speaker 1: people tell you you're drunk, maybe you should sit down
- 46:55Speaker 1: and uh. And the same goes with editing. If people
- 46:58Speaker 1: keep saying the same note over and over and again,
- 47:00Speaker 1: you have to diagnose the note and and and do
- 47:03Speaker 1: something about it. Otherwise you're just looking for people to
- 47:06Speaker 1: agree with you, which is which is ludicrous. But anyway,
- 47:08Speaker 1: I just thought it was funny that this was like
- 47:09Speaker 1: a bone of contention with me and my producers at
- 47:11Speaker 1: the time, and everyone else was sort of being two
- 47:14Speaker 1: polite in Donald's defense. But the only hand that shot
- 47:17Speaker 1: up was Donald. And then he had a long monologue
- 47:20Speaker 1: about why there were too many endings. I did it.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Just listen, man, It just what I had suggested, was I.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I suggested, you know, maybe add something in between, because
- 47:31Speaker 1: it seems like he's leaving and there's no out of nowhere.
- 47:36Speaker 1: He just shows up and we did kind of weird
- 47:38Speaker 1: you know what, and we did you know that if
- 47:40Speaker 1: you're if you're a Garden State UM aficionano and you
- 47:44Speaker 1: know the film, UM that that section of of of
- 47:48Speaker 1: Large getting on the plane at the end and you
- 47:50Speaker 1: think he's actually going and there's a cool, a timeless
- 47:54Speaker 1: shot of flying over the seats that was all created
- 47:58Speaker 1: after the film had been So we sold the film
- 48:01Speaker 1: and Sundance and and uh Fox Searchlight who bought it,
- 48:05Speaker 1: said we love it. Is there anything you want to
- 48:09Speaker 1: do to it? And I was like, what, like, yeah,
- 48:11Speaker 1: if you if you if you feel like you can
- 48:14Speaker 1: fix a certain note that's bothering you with a day
- 48:16Speaker 1: of photography, or that it is so that we will
- 48:19Speaker 1: will pay for it. And I was like okay, and
- 48:23Speaker 1: one of them and one of the things we did
- 48:24Speaker 1: was address a note that you had and others had,
- 48:27Speaker 1: was that you needed more even though we're talking about seconds,
- 48:32Speaker 1: you still needed more time between Large leaving um Sam
- 48:35Speaker 1: at the airport and then coming back and uh sorry,
- 48:39Speaker 1: not just that you got to you got to shoot
- 48:40Speaker 1: a bunch of other shots, like one time you shot
- 48:44Speaker 1: uh that shot of your boy who created the velcrow
- 48:47Speaker 1: and yes, oh, my god, your memory. God, that's true.
- 48:54Speaker 1: I I have to be honest. I don't even remember
- 48:58Speaker 1: if that's in the movie. It is in the movie.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Is in the movie? It is? And then you and
- 49:02Speaker 1: you use the crew from Scrubs actually to keep this
- 49:07Speaker 1: about the Scrubs rewatch podcast. You use I think calviy Ethan.
- 49:13Speaker 1: I think Sean worked on because you had a little
- 49:15Speaker 1: miniature crane and all of that stuff, and you use
- 49:18Speaker 1: that all in the backyard, in my backyard and the
- 49:20Speaker 1: pool that I had at the time with your boy
- 49:23Speaker 1: on a floaty. Yeah, that's right. Oh my god, good
- 49:27Speaker 1: memory for a stoner anyway, So I'll be keeping you
- 49:32Speaker 1: guys posted on that. It's called I'm only on I'm
- 49:34Speaker 1: only doing wheat for to fight. Oh my crown must
- 49:42Speaker 1: be anyway, So I'll keep you guys posted about that.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I'm very proud of it. Um, even though I made
- 49:47Speaker 1: four films obviously, um um going in salad and write.
- 49:52Speaker 1: But so this is the third one I've written. Um.
- 49:56Speaker 1: The middle one I wrote with my brother Garden Stata
- 49:58Speaker 1: or alone, and this one I wrote alone. And um,
- 50:01Speaker 1: you know it came out of the pandemic and sitting
- 50:05Speaker 1: here and and the grief I had for for losing
- 50:08Speaker 1: Nick and for you know, losing my sister and my
- 50:10Speaker 1: father and even my little dog, all within a couple
- 50:14Speaker 1: of years. So um, but I don't want anyone to
- 50:18Speaker 1: think it's it's this super modelin film, and it is.
- 50:22Speaker 1: It is. It is a drama. But um, there's there's
- 50:24Speaker 1: also moments of levity and it's just, um, I don't know.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I think you're all gonna like it. I hope you
- 50:28Speaker 1: like it. Well, you got my favorite actress in it
- 50:30Speaker 1: right now, man, you know Lawence Pew, you're a fan, huh.
- 50:33Speaker 1: I am a huge fan of Florence Pew. Man. It
- 50:37Speaker 1: seemed to me and not shocking that your your love
- 50:39Speaker 1: of Florence Pew went up even further when you saw
- 50:41Speaker 1: her on Hawkeye. Well, I've only seen a few of
- 50:45Speaker 1: you know. I just knew her as the girl you were, uh,
- 50:50Speaker 1: you know, making a movie with and dating and stuff,
- 50:52Speaker 1: and I was like, okay, you know that's cool. I
- 50:56Speaker 1: hadn't really seen her work because I have a tendency
- 50:58Speaker 1: to this is a problem of mine. Once I see
- 51:01Speaker 1: somebody's work, I am forever a fan, no matter who
- 51:06Speaker 1: it is. Now, this this doesn't This doesn't mean that
- 51:10Speaker 1: I'm not a fan of Florence, but like I saw
- 51:13Speaker 1: her work on Hawkeye, and tell you something right now,
- 51:16Speaker 1: she made that show better than it was, man, you
- 51:19Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like she took the show up.
- 51:21Speaker 1: No disrespect to you and your marvel nous out there,
- 51:25Speaker 1: the people that love Marvel and everything like that. But
- 51:27Speaker 1: until Florence, you've gotten that show. It was I you
- 51:31Speaker 1: know what I mean. But her scenes were fired, dude,
- 51:34Speaker 1: you know, and I really like her scene. There's a
- 51:37Speaker 1: very long scene. Maybe they maybe they cut away and
- 51:40Speaker 1: come back to it so it's not on one chunk,
- 51:42Speaker 1: but that whole scene with her and Haley in the
- 51:45Speaker 1: apartment with the and Florence being Florence, for those you
- 51:51Speaker 1: don't know, is makes up a lot of stuff. And
- 51:54Speaker 1: uh so I I was watching and being like, did
- 51:56Speaker 1: you make that up? Did you make that up? And
- 51:57Speaker 1: she said yeah, yeah, uh so, um so there you go.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Um Donald Hawkeye, Yes, Hawkeye too, Hawkeye. I freaking loved it.
- 52:10Speaker 1: I'm a big Hayley Steinfeld stand. And then like, knowing
- 52:14Speaker 1: what might come out of Hawkeye like a young Justice
- 52:18Speaker 1: sort of vibe is what I'm really hoping for. And
- 52:21Speaker 1: Florence and Haley together even like they're like elevator scene
- 52:24Speaker 1: where they were doing the uh McCauley culkin like pushing
- 52:29Speaker 1: all the buttons and just it's okay, it's hilarious. There's
- 52:32Speaker 1: some do you want to know a funny story. I'm
- 52:36Speaker 1: sorry I took. We were in um Rocket Feller's Center
- 52:42Speaker 1: over Christmas and Carrie Brothers and his wife Jess Weiss
- 52:46Speaker 1: were there visiting, and they said, carry said a sentence
- 52:51Speaker 1: I never ever wanted to be said to me, which was,
- 52:55Speaker 1: guess what I got us all tickets to go ice
- 52:58Speaker 1: skating and Rocket Color Center at the height of Christmas? Right,
- 53:05Speaker 1: And I'm like, you did? Why would you do that?
- 53:10Speaker 1: And he goes because Jess and I think it would
- 53:11Speaker 1: be romantic, and he's like, don't worry, we got you
- 53:14Speaker 1: in Florence tickets. So I'm like, I mean, if you
- 53:19Speaker 1: live in New York, you do not want to go
- 53:20Speaker 1: to Rocket our Son or a Christmas I don't care.
- 53:23Speaker 1: All right, it's Mayhem, it's packed, it's tourism, it's Omicron
- 53:27Speaker 1: all that ship. So we go because I'm trying to
- 53:31Speaker 1: be the best boyfriend in the world and I'm certainly
- 53:32Speaker 1: not going to let her go like be the third
- 53:34Speaker 1: wheel on their date. That would be horrible. But I rally.
- 53:38Speaker 1: We get there in Florence and we're skating on the
- 53:41Speaker 1: we're doing that. You know, you have like forty five
- 53:43Speaker 1: minutes a slot to skater had the experience right, and
- 53:48Speaker 1: Florence is looking around. She's like, do you guys want
- 53:50Speaker 1: to know something funny? I've been on this before, but
- 53:55Speaker 1: it was recreated in in Atlanta on a sound stage.
- 54:03Speaker 1: So that whole epic, epic thing that she has an
- 54:06Speaker 1: hawkeye was that was her first first time at the
- 54:10Speaker 1: Rocket ice rink, was shooting that in Atlanta, and now
- 54:15Speaker 1: she's on the real thing. Uh, that's like going to
- 54:18Speaker 1: the Paris in Vegas. First, that's great. Dull alright, well, Joel,
- 54:26Speaker 1: what are we um? What? I've lost track where we
- 54:28Speaker 1: are in the show. We're gonna pick up next week?
- 54:31Speaker 1: Were number five, six, seven, eight. We're rusty. We're rusty,
